How we plan to film the intro
• We will first of all film in 3rd person. The film would start with a shot from the
perspective of the group as they use sirens and spotlights to search the buildings
for survivors; it would then cut to the main man seen in the picture waking up
and panicking as he tries to chase the car. I would follow this from behind using
some sort of vehicle to have a steady shot but also be fast enough to catch the
actor. This would be a very dramatic set of shots with intense music as it would
throw you straight into the deep end and get you immediately engrossed in the
action. The man in this scene will chase after the group until they turn around
and spot him before taking him on board, this would be shot again from the
perspective of the group and this would be the end of the 2 minute intro.
• The purpose of our intro is to engross the audience into the action which in turn
will help determine our genre. We also want to show the characters but not give
away too much, for example about the main characters intentions to help his
family.
Storyline
• In a post apocalyptic world, every man is free to do what they want to survive as
civilization has crumbled and world leaders have been captured by terrorist
groups. The man in the picture is chasing after a group of people who have drove
through the city searching for survivors, the man is trying to be-friend the group
which he will later betray for the benefit of his family and group.
Buildings have been broken and vandalised as
order is lost and chaos breaks loose. As the story
progresses, we see the main character bond
with the group he meets at the start of the film
but we also will cut and transition to the lives of
the world leaders and the main character’s
family. At the end of the film, the extreme group
will go and save the world leaders who will
restore civilization with the help of the group.
Characters
These would be the extreme group of survivors
that find the main character. They would be a
serious group of people that are trying to save
the world but would probably have some
elaborate plan that the main character doesn’t
agree with, causing him to leave the group.
The group would be of 4-5 members, 2 of which
would be brother and sister. The sister would
struggle as she is either ill or injured. The other 3
would be tag-ons to the group who are ruthless
killers who show no mercy towards others.
This is our main characters who
we would follow throughout the
film. We are expected to
sympathise with him and root for
him as he tries to survive and care
for his family. He would be in his
early 20s, someone who is a very
average guy who hasn’t done
much with his life. He acts on his
instincts and do whatever he can
to help his family which would
often mean he ends up in trouble.
As an alternative idea, we may cut
to scenes about the world leaders
being taken hostage and what is
happening to them to allow time to
progress for the other characters so
that we can join them at a more
interesting time. However, this will
not be included in our 2 minute
intro as it would be mid way or
towards the end of the film.

Genre Indicators and Narrative Hooks
The narrative hook I would play on is the apocalypse and how the group plans to save the
world, I wouldn’t reveal the plan until about half way through the film. I also think you
could make the film seem more intense by showing that there isn’t much time left;
similar to the show You, Me and the apocalypse. Also, if you can make the audience
sympathise with the main character this is also a narrative hook.
Genre indicators – Action
Guns and violence
Car chases
Gang warfare
Hostage/Terrorist situations
Family (A very important them in fast and furious films)
Fast paced action – not many scenes of dialogue, you learn about the story
through what happens in the action
Inspirations
• My inspirations for this idea came from the walking dead and you, me and the
apocalypse. The idea of groups that try to save the world came from the walking
dead and the switching between different characters and the apocalypse scenario
came from you, me and the apocalypse.
Titles
• I think that we will make fairly basic titles, probably using black text
with a scenic background to show off the setting we are using as
much as possible. Honestly, this is the part of the intro we’ve
prioritised the least so far.
