1. What we plan to do; codes and
conventions; our film.

2. Mise En Scene
We want hermeneutic questions to be asked by
the viewer so we plan to use low level lighting in
order to produce shadows which is a way that
we can create tension and keep mystery to our
audience about what is going on throughout or
short film.
3. Editing
If we use fast paced cuts then that should keep
the audience on the edge of their seats because
it causes uncertainty of the surrounding of the
film. Of course not all the scenes can be filmed
as fast paced otherwise it wont make much
sense but if some of the scenes are blurred in
the background that will still create mystery.
4. Camera work
We should try and use a lot of medium close-ups
in order to keep the sense of mystery
because you cant see the whole view of the
scene. We should also use protagonist shots as
they are designed to follow the character(s)
around and help the audience create a
character profile.
5. Narrative
I think that we should use an enigma approach
as it would give again that sense of mystery and
leave the audience with unanswered questions
which is what we want. I think a non-linear
narrative structure would be best as it is the
fundamental convention of short films.
6. Todorov’s Narrative Theory
Many short films use Todorov’s theory and I
think that this would be best in order to should
the disruption and restoration of equilibrium.
For example during our short film something
would happen that disturbs the equilibrium but
in the end it would all be restored.
