The Importance Of Being Earnest Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "The Importance of Being Earnest" may present both
challenges and rewards. On one hand, the topic itself is rich with layers of wit, satire, and social
commentary, offering ample material for analysis. However, the complexity lies in navigating
through Oscar Wilde's intricate play, understanding its nuances, and effectively conveying one's
interpretations.
To begin with, comprehending the subtle humor and satire in "The Importance of Being Earnest"
requires a keen eye and an understanding of the Victorian society that Wilde satirizes.
Unraveling the layers of wordplay, paradoxes, and societal critiques demands careful
consideration and analytical prowess. Moreover, the play delves into themes such as identity,
marriage, and societal expectations, requiring a nuanced approach to explore these concepts
thoroughly.
One must grapple with the challenge of striking a balance between interpreting the play's
comedic elements and recognizing the serious social criticisms embedded within its fabric. The
task is not merely summarizing the plot or character dynamics; it involves delving into the
underlying messages and implications Wilde intended to convey.
Additionally, presenting a unique perspective on a well-explored topic like "The Importance of
Being Earnest" demands creativity and originality. With countless essays written on this classic
play, the pressure to contribute something novel to the discourse can be daunting.
While the process of dissecting Wilde's masterpiece may be intellectually stimulating, it also
necessitates a commitment to thorough research, critical thinking, and effective communication.
It requires a delicate balance between providing insightful analysis and avoiding
overinterpretation.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the importance of being earnest is a task that requires a
blend of literary acumen, historical context comprehension, and original thought. It is an
undertaking that, though challenging, offers the opportunity to engage deeply with a timeless
piece of literature, extracting its profound meanings and contributing to the ongoing conversation
about its significance.

Differences Of Cost Accounting And The Advantage Of...
Differences of Cost Accounting and the Advantage of Activity Based Accounting
Cost and management accounting is an integral element in preparation of an entity s
financial reports. Cost accounting consists of various branches, including; job and
process costing, absorption costing, traditional costing and activity based costing. An
efficient costing system allows managers and other users of financial reports to make
decisions to better the company, in reducing and streamlining costs, to improve
overall profits. The way in which managers achieve this can be a rigorous and time
consuming task, however, if a costing system can be perfected, productivity and
general cost reduction can be achieved and an overall more efficient operation of
the business will ensue. This essay will critically discuss factors in which a
business consider in deciding on a costing system to implement and operate when
establishing a costing system. In this article I will describe the different methods of
costing, explain why I believe activity based costing is the most efficient method,
and provide a real world example to support my claim.
A costing system, by definition: Costing system is that system in which we calculate
different costs with different methods and also monitor cost for reducing wastage and
misuse of resources. (SVtuition.org, 2014) A costing system is made up of different
elements which best suits a company s operations. They have many elements that can

Musical Theatre Comparison Essay
Musicals and Opera are both very similar forms of Musical Theatre that involve
singing, acting and dancing. But they also have important differences. Musicals and
Opera differ in the importance of the words, the number of people attending each
year, and the style of music they use. Many people enjoy both kinds of musical theatre
, both in performing them and being in the audience. It is a form of expression
enjoyed by all generations. In musicals the dialogue and the lyrics in songs are
extremely important to getting the message across. Shows are known for their witty
one liners and for telling the story during iconic songs. It would be extremely difficult
to understand what is happening if you watched a musical that was written in another
language. This is quite the opposite from an Opera, the majority of operas are written
in Italian, German or French. For someone who speaks a language other than the one
being performed, it is not a problem. The main focus in opera is on the music. The

The Cause Of Sinkholes In The Southern States
Our topic is sinkholes. Sinkholes are holes that are formed in the ground from the
underlay of rocks collapsing. The majority of sinkholes in the U.S. occur in Florida
because the state is on top of carbonate rocks which are weak Sinkholes are pits in
the ground that form where water gathers with no drainage. The water weakens the
ground under the surface and any weight on the affected area will collapse the
ground. Sinkholes are mostly likely to happen in southern states of the United States
because of the soft limestone under the southern states. The states don t have good
drainage under them therefore the land under is weak. Some sinkholes don t cause
any damage but a lot of them can swallow up people, buildings, and houses. In

Marketing and Ethics (United Colors of Benetton) Essay
Often regarded as a leader in the multinational marketing industry, United Colors of
Benetton continues to face the challenge of effectively marketing clothes across
racial, cultural, and religious borders. Renowned for using social issued themed
pictures to promote its brand, Benetton has strayed from traditional marketing
techniques to provide customers with an idea of the many issues that plaque societies
from continent to continent. This unique approach has been met with extreme
emotions, and people have both praised and damned the Benettonadvertisements.

Maintaining Luciano Benetton s ability to transform sweaters into messages, shirts
into signs, and jeans into signifiers, the company sought out an artist, not an
advertiser who respected the rules of traditional marketing . Benetton hired Oliviero
Toscani, a photographer who has earned recognition from his edgy photography
style. Toscani chose to use print and poster as his media, a very unusual advertising
decision for a clothing company. In addition, because television advertisements
historically have cost retailers up to 62% of their advertising budgets, Benetton
initially refused to promote itself on television. They later agreed to do so only on
specific networks outside of Italy, such as MTV in the U.S.2
At the heart of Toscani s basic advertising and marketing strategy was what he often
referred to as a communications strategy based on the diversity focused slogan
integrated into the United Colors of Benetton Campaigns. With this theme of
unification, Toscani chose to transform advertising into news, paying close attention
to current events.2 Because Benetton s clothes were sold around the world, the
expenses incurred to tailor campaigns to specific national markets would have been
enormous. To reduce these high costs, Toscani attempted to bring the world s markets
together by using a single advertisement that would appeal to many cultures, races,

Tungsten Essay
In 1781, Carl Wilhelm Scheele discovered Tungsten, which is also known as
Wolfram. The word Tungsten is used in the United States, but Wolfram is still used in
some European countries. Tungsten comes from the Swedish language which means
heavy stone . Tungsten is a very strong, shiny, gray white metalthat makes up just a
tiny fraction of the earth s crust and is always combined with other elements as
compounds. Every tungstenatom has 74 positively charged protons in the nucleus
which means it also has 74 negatively charged electrons revolving around the
nucleus. Tungsten played a big role in the background of World War II. Portugal was
the main source of this element which meant, they were put under pressure by both
sides because of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However it combines with other elements to form compounds in minerals. An
interesting fact is that wolframite and scheelite are the only two important sources of
the metal. Wolframite contains varying amounts of irontungstate and manganese
tungstate. Another important tungsten mineral is scheelite, which varies in color
from white to green. The leading producers of tungsten are China, with 37,000 tons,
Russia, with 3,600 tons and Austria, with 1,700 tons. Another interesting fact is that
more than half of the world s supply of tungsten comes from mines in the Nah Ling
Mountains of Jianxi, Henan and Quangdong provinces of China. The method to
extract tungsten ore is generally a compromise between safety and cost. One way to
mine it is using the room and pillar method, which is cutting rooms in tungsten, and
leaving a series of columns called pillars . However other mines use the bulk mining
method of slashing out the ore . This involves drilling into the face of the tungsten
deposit to carve out large chunks of the ore. Around 30% of tungsten comes from
scrap and waste metal. Tungsten its self is not a major pollutant, but scrap and waste
tungsten may contain other metals that are harmful to the environment. In addition,
recycling is a lot cheaper than disposing of the waste
Forensic Pathologists And Autopsies
The Importance of Forensic Pathologists and Autopsies Death becomes a part of
every single person s life at some point in time, whether it is in the form of a close
relative, parent, spouse, or even one s own death. While it is not the most pleasant
subject, death is something that needs to be addressed to prepare those who will
have to manage it when the time comes. Depending on the situation at hand, certain
circumstances of demise may not be completely understood, and in these cases,
autopsies can provide families with closure by giving them answers needed to clarify
any questions that may have come along with the loss of their loved one ( American
Autopsy Services , np). With new advances in technology and new medical diagnostic

Having an answer regarding a loved one s death in cases of uncertainty is
psychologically beneficial to the family members, especially if they are concerned
that the death had occurred because of something they did. If there were any
genetic disorders that led to the death, those can be clarified and relayed to the
family as well. Clinicians and hospitals benefit from autopsies because they provide
reassurance of the diagnoses, treatments and the appropriateness of the medical care
received. Society experiences the benefits of autopsies through the evaluation of
diagnostic tests, drugs, and diagnostic techniques along with advanced medical
knowledge of new diseases as well as environmental, occupational, and existing
diseases. Mortality statistics are only able to be verified from autopsy data because
so often statistics are inaccurate with the lack of an autopsy (Stöppler,
Why Negotiations Occur Within An Organization
Introduction This research paper pursues two aims. First is to illustrate why
negotiations occur within an organization. This will be done through examining the
dimensionality of negotiation and dispute resolution. Second is to address some of
the challenges of negotiating. Included as a part of this, is an analysis of the different
tones and styles to adopt when negotiating, which may aid towards overcoming these
challenges. The main aim of this research is to outline the issues and broadly develop
the argument and evidence in support of each party s position towards trying to
achieve a win win solution. Abstract Negotiation occurs as a resolution process

First type of employment contract Conflict may also bear as a result of the very
nature of the work organization, a battle of ideas that takes place where implications
may occur. This perspective is relevant to a debate surrounding the promotion of the
psychological contract, which is seen as the perception of the two parties, employee
and employer, of what their mutual obligations are towards each other (Guest, D. and
Conway, N.). The psychological contract consists of the expectations that employees
have with their employing organizations. The implications of this are implicit. The
complexity of this contract leaves room for misinterpretations, however, ensuring that
the terms and conditions have been made clear through open and honest discussions
with mutual expectations and obligations will limit the conflict. Second type of
employment contract The other type of contract, the employment relationship, Kevin
Kelloway explains as, a form of work that is performed under contractual
arrangements that involves material rewards (Kelloway, K.). This allows for a level
of managerial control towards forming the fundamental link between desired
outcomes and actual processes. Entering into an employment relations, the employer
buys the employees capabilities to work, known as, labour power, this takes the

The Relapse Of Heroin
Previously, when society thought about drug addicts, they pictured the homeless,
the poor, the prostitutes, the high school dropouts, and the overall troublemakers
of society. However, the reality is that now drug addicts are working and living
right next to each and every one of us, and most people do not even realize it.
These addicts are parents, children, siblings, friends, and coworkers. Many of them
are able to have jobs, have social lives, and are able to hide their addiction for quite
some time. I would know because my brother is now unfortunately among this
group of people. I know now to be observant for pinpoint pupils and subtle changes

Theodore J. Cicero, a professor of psychiatry at Washington University analyzed a
study from a sample of 2,800 men and women who had sought out treatment for
heroin addiction. He found, White individuals made up approximately 90% of the
study participants who began using heroin in the last decade... Men represented
slightly more than 80% of heroin users who began opioid abuse in 1960s, according
to the study. But by 2010, nearly equal numbers of male and female heroin users
were seeking treatment...(Nierenberg, 2014). The changing demographics of heroin
usage noted prove that preventing heroin abuse is a public health issue that does not
discriminate against age, race, gender, or socioeconomic class. Heroin use is
becoming increasingly more popular in suburbs because the teenagers there have the
money to pay for it, which dealers have begun to take advantage of. This is important
for health care providers and members of the community in general to recognize
because the drug users and abusers no longer fit into the stereotypical poor, troubled
individuals. Addiction does not
The Blues, A Genre Of Music
Does one have to be black and from the south to play the blues?
The blues, a genre of music so well known and so universal, that one knows is
associated with black culture; and forever connected to it. However, some may
argue that not anyone can play the blues and blues is only black music. That being
said, does it matter what the skin color of an individual may be to play the blues? In
contrast I strongly believe anyone can play the blues because music is the purest form
of creativity and communication.
The reality is that today it is seen it all over, countless of people from many parts of
the globe perform this genre of music known as The Blues. It is played by the
millions and by many different races some of which are not from the south; but is
it wrong for them to play it? Certain individuals may believe that playing the blues,
one has to be black to even be considered. There is an individual who argues that
one needs to really have The Blues to play them and it is only black music. (Harris,
2015 n.p) On the other hand I would consider that the culture or race of the performer
does not matter. People from all races and backgrounds experience the blues, this
genre of music has become universal; it is a part of world music now. it is wonderful
to think that a genre of music once viewed as wrong or barbaric has become so well
popularized and loved.
When one thinks of the blues one almost always pictures a lone black man in his
guitar singing his troubles away.

What Role Does Anonymity Play At One s Online

What role does anonymity play in one s online activities, and why does this matter?
The rapid growth in technological innovation has brought about an increase in
information via digital platforms, bridging communications all over the world from
different geographical locations. This progression of virtual interactivity has enabled
the possibility of anonymity, and it has deliberated continuously whether it aids or
hinders society, and questions the efficacy of anonymity. One aspect of anonymity is
that it is implemented in the identity of online self representation through the
discourses of general communication, cyberbullying and hacker criminality.
Therefore, the character of obscurity is crucial in specific online actions and this will
be analysed throughout. Anonymity acts as a different tool for every purpose, and
how it impacts individuals and society in varied measures. There are consequences of
invisibility, in both positive and negative aspects which tailor an individual s online
portrayal. Focusing on how invisibility can be democratic and influence community
building, but at the same time encourage immoral behaviour, reflects the prominence
of cyberbullying and corrupt activity. In the digital sphere, it can be argued that there
are no interferences or obstructions from accessing and manipulating data, any
identity is ours for the taking and making (Milestone and Meyer, 2012). An online
identity is undecipherable; a true identity cannot be deduced as

The idea of civil service dates back to ancient times. But bureaucracy is modern terms
that evolved with the emergence of Public Administration as an academic field.
Politics administration dichotomy is one of the most important factor in the Study of
Public Administration by Woodrow Wilson in 1887 (Afegbua: 2013). Nature of
administration, the extent of work by bureaucracyand many other issues are

experienced different forms of government regime from military autocratic to
democratic republic. Before liberation, it experienced government system under
British Colonialism and government by Pakistan as it was part of Pakistan earlier.
Due to the variation in the forms of government the relations between politics and
administration were also different.

The Four Elements Of Earth Bending
IВґve always believed that the pillars of planet Earth are the four main elements. Of
course I am referring to Air, Water, Fire and Earth. Imagine having the ability to
harness and bend each of these four elements into anything you desire. Each one of
these elements has their own different but unique characteristic. They all have
endless possibilities depending on how you decide to use each one of them.
Let us start with the simplest one, the Air element. This element is really basic.
Although Air bending sounds really simple there are a lot of things you are able to
do with it. You can create air rushes, tornadoes and other kind of aerial disruptions.
However, the most interesting characteristic of being an Air bender is that you have

Antigone And Prometheus Bound
Is the belief in destiny a way to encourage people to try and change it or to curse
people to their dooms? Destiny was more seriously considered in during ancient
Greek society and the Greeks centered their lives around oracles who could tell
people their destiny and what the gods had in store for them. Whether that
information was heeded or not, it greatly affected everyone s life because it basically
prophesied the future. There is a quote by Jean de La Fontaine that states, One often
meets his destinyon the road he takes to avoid it. If one knows what one is destined
for, should one try to change it? If so, what would be the impact? The plays Antigone

He made the decision to help humankind regardless of the outcome he was going to
face because he figured that helping humankind was worth more than the torture
that Zeus would put him through. Humankind was freed of its misery through
Prometheus s help and their misery became Prometheus s misery almost like
karma or like the existence of energy in thermodynamics. Energy can neither be
created nor destroyed so since misery existed to begin with, it was just transferred
from humankind to Prometheus. He knew of the suffering to come but he didn t
know how it would be when he reached that point in his destiny and the amount of
suffering he actually experienced took him by surprise. It didn t take him as much
by surprise as if he didn t know what suffering he would receive at all so he
probably would have thought twice about helping humankind if he didn t know his
destiny. If people know the extent of the consequences that would follow their
actions, they would be able to make more concrete decisions and accept their fate
easier when it comes along. Not long after, Io, the girl who was cursed by Zeus,
happens to come along and find Prometheus s prison. She finds out that Prometheus

Impact Of Technology On Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement and Technology
Introduction
Revolutionary progress in the field of information technology has ushered in
numerous changes in the ways police officers and law enforcement agencies use to
identify, trail and make cases against suspects. Throughout the last century, most of
the technological advances in surveillance by law enforcement revolved around
establishing and enhancing methods of communication: telephones, radio calls and
other emergency communications. In this century, surveillance has become
technological and is real time. The following are some of the latest surveillance
technologies available to law enforcers.

Stingray is a sophisticated, portable device that is able to trail cell phone signals
inside homes, vehicles and even insulated buildings. In this system, Stingray
trackers operate as fake cell towers. This allows law enforcers to pin down the
location of a targeted mobile device by sucking up data such as emails, text
messages and cell site information. Consequently, when a suspect makes a phone
call, the system will trick the cell into sending its signal back to law enforcers,
thereby preventing the signal from travelling back to the individual s wireless carrier.
Stingray is also capable of extracting data off other cell phone users in that location.
Facial Recognition Software In this surveillance system, law enforcers take a
photograph of a person s face and then compare the biometrics to other pictures
stored in a database. If the person s photograph was in the database, there will be a
match. This will enable the officers to identify the person behind the face. This
software has since been incorporated into CCTV surveillance systems in order to
track down suspects in real time. On an individual case, the system can easily be

I would definitely feel what Hansen refers to a cultural bump a slight uneasiness in
the unfamiliar if I were to visit India (Lynch, 2011). Indian culture is deeply
spiritual, but it is also complex made up of mystic, mythology and superstitions.
(ISHA, 2014). Unlike, the American culture, which if religious, is mostly
comprised of Monotheistic religions (one god). Another, vastly different practice is
the Caste system in India, which you re socioeconomic and social status are
determined by your birthright. Meaning, that you can never climb the social class
ladder, your future and success are predetermined. So different from the US, where
here you personally in charge of your future success and could be born into a low
socio economic family and still rise above your circumstances through hard work
and education. Money, is America s social class system regulator, and the more
you have, the more your status, power and influence increases. Here, is another
unusual fact I learned from a previous anthropology class, India is the only culture
to recognize a 3rd gender possibility, which are called Hijras (Nanda, 1999). While,
they are not always socially accepted, they are tolerated, and justified through
mythology and serve a place within society, all be it, not a high one (Nanda, 1999).

Cinema of Attractions vs Narrative Cinema
This essay will discuss both the Cinema of Attractions and Narrative Cinema and their
origins in order to better understand the differences found between them in regards to
the criteria to follow. This essay will highlight the role that the spectator plays, and
the temporality that both the Cinema of Attractions and NarrativeCinema exhibit.
Tom Gunning proposed the Continuity Model in order to better understand the
beginning of film and the making of film. Gunning proposes the following
assumptions: Firstly, the evolutionary assumption, in which film is considered to
have developed linearly across time as more development occurs. Secondly, the
cinematic assumption theorises that film only truly came to being through the ... Show

MГ©liГЁs was one of the first directors to progress cinematic technology, which
paved the way for narratives as style of film (Leveridge, 2012: 98).
Cinema after 1906, according to Gunning, pushed towards the structure of linear
narrative, and away from the immediacy of the spectacular image (Strauven, 1999:
387).
Paradigms and their relation to the Spectator
The Cinema of Attractions is based on an exhibitionist paradigm (Gunning, 2004:
44), where it seeks to knowingly addressing the spectator and provide its spectator
with a series of views or selective information (Strauven, 1999: 49). The cinema of
attractions existed primarily between the years 1895 and 1906 (Strauven, 1999: 38).
Cinema of Attractions is concerned with the ability to display. Attractions wanted to
show the here and now , interacting with its spectator with the aim of satisfying the
audience s curiosity quickly (Gunning, 2004: 44). It displays current events, scenes
form everyday life, composed scenes, vaudeville performances and also camera
tricks (as pioneered by George MГ©liГЁs). Cinema of Attractions aims to astonish its
audience (Strauven, 1999: 50). through displaying, rather than amusing its audience
through narrative content. This is seen in films such as G. MГ©liГЁs L homme
orchestre (One Man Band) (1900), or his L homme Г la tГЄte de caoutchouc (The
Man With The Rubber Head) (1901) where the actor(s) constantly address the camera

Pros And Cons Of Wireless Networking Protocols
COM 309: Wireless Networking Protocols
A computer network is a communication system that links together devices referred as
Nodes. These devices are connected using communication channels. A
communication channel is assigned to a medium used to transport information from
one network device to another, such as wired channels and wireless channels
(Parsons, 2016).
A primary system is made up of at least two computing devices either wired or
wireless points of connection; these points are network ports. There are usually one
network hub or network switch that permits their interconnection. The most standard
wired computer networks are known as Ethernet. This is made up of UTP
(unshielded twisted pair) cables, and just about all personal computers have a
UTP Ethernet Network port as standard. The printer also comes with an Ethernet
port, making it easily shared amongst the user of a network. Other wired channels
are coaxial cable used for cable T.V, Category 6 cables used for LANs, and fiber
optic cables used for high capacity trunk lines. Most local area networks (LAN) are
used in small businesses network. Wired networks are much more secure than
wireless networks. The Computer Age has shifted from a traditional industry to an
economy is formed on information computerization. The arrival of the computer age
is associated with the Digital Revolution. Today, the internet has generated attritions

How Planned was the Soviet Economy Essay
How Planned was the Soviet Economy
As Marxists claim that capitalism is anarchic, planless, inefficient and wastes human
and natural resources , what with the modern advances made by Russia in such a
short space of time, one would assume that the Soviet economy between 1924 and
1939 was meticulously planned and controlled. However, many facts would beg to
differ and instead suggest the contrary.
It is true that institutes of planning existed in Russia in the period concerned. As of
July 1922, VSNKh operated its control over industry by methods of a production
planning character . The institution was responsible for the drafting of production and
disposal plans amongst other things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One must not overlook the timing of the First Plan and brand it an accident. The Left
Opposition had originally proposed rapid industrialization to be the part s primary
priority. Now that they had been defeated the government was able to adopt their
industrialization policies without putting them in power. Industrialization also came
hand in hand with collectivisation as machinery such as tractors had to be produced.
1921 to 1927 were the years of the NEP.VSNKh can be said to have just regulated
the economy during the NEP as opposed to doing anything else. However in all
fairness, it is difficult to even talk about a planned economy between the years of
1924 and 1928, whatever the role of the state planning institutions, as the state did not
run the most effective parts of the economy. The state s ability to plan was greatly
hindered by the fact that it ran heavy industry and not agriculture. Between 1921 and
1927 the state industrial sector stagnated while agriculture flourished in the private
sector.
The 1921 famine had led to a decline in the amount of land sown in the following
year due to a shortage of seed and peasants fit to work in the affected provinces.
However, the harvest in 1922 was of an acceptable standard, with the land sown in
the following year just short of 90 per cent of the pre war level. Although at this time

Social And Moral Conflict In Ruined By Lynn Nottage
Ruined by Lynn Nottage won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for drama. The play is
comprised of an assortment of women who exist in the Democratic Republic of the
Congo. These women face social and political horrors within their civil war torn
territory.
The inciting incident in the play Ruined by Lynn Nottage is when Christian comes
barring news that government Commander Osembenga has murdered the local
pastor and left no trace of evidence behind. The pastor was killed for providing aid
to rebel soldiers and this symbolizes the moral conflict at hand. While Christian
pleads for Mama to leave with him a featured character named Fortune, a government
soldier and Salima s husband, shows up at Mama s business for the first time looking
for Salima. Fortune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Outraged, Commander Osembenga confronts Mama aggressively seeking honesty
about the claim from one of his own soldiers. When Mama lies about Kisembe s
debut in her business a soldier grabs Josephine preparing to sexually violate her
until she cries out to Mama to tell Osembenga the truth, admitting Kisembe was
just there. The soldiers continue to torment but everything ceases when Salima
slowly enters the room covered in blood screaming for them all to stop. I consider
this scene to be the climax because it is the highest point of tension in the play yet
the lowest point of morality. Everything preceding was responsible for building the
awareness that Osembenga was a monster. When Salima enters haltingly clothed in
scene six and screams For the love of God, stop this! Haven t you done enough to
us. Enough! Enough! this took the characters by surprise and made them pause
their brutal actions. Following Salima s screams silence when she dies quickly at
the end of the scene. This further clarifies that this is the climax because a climax is
followed by falling action which is scene 7. In scene 7, Sophie, Mama, and Josephine
are continuing on with their lives and it appears everything has returned back to
Khaled Hosseini s The Kite Runner
Ordinarily, pieces of literature show scenes of violence. These events are not just
placed haphazardly; often times, these predicaments are intricately set to build the
meaning of the work. Wighout this kind of violence, some points in the novel would
be hard to comprehend. In Khaled Hoseini s The Kite Runner, multiple cases of
compulsion are demonstrated. Khaled Hosseiniuses symbolism and sense of mood
during these situations contribute to the understanding of his literary work. Chapter
seven of the novel opens somewhat normal, with two young boys, Amir and Hassan,
preparing for the annual kite running tournament. When the boys win the contest, an
air of jubilance and carelessness comes over Amir and Hassan. Hosseini describes the

Moreover, throughout his whole life, Amir feels the need to be repented for his
past mistakes. When Amir gets the notorious call from Rahim Khan and asked
upon his arrival to save Sohrab, Amir first denies but then accepts the fact that this
may be his only chance to redeem himself. Amir finally finds the place where
Sohrab is and is coincidentally confronted by Assef. The fight scene here is brutal,
and full of bloodshed. However, rather than feeling pain, Amir feels at peace ,
healed , and satisfied. Overall, the scene is relieving and peaceful, at least for
Amir. At the time, Amir s pain makes him feel happy by suffering. Though Assef
brings a mood of obscurity, Amir s recent catharsis brings about one of relief.
Throughout the whole fight, Amir knows that he really isn t going to win; but,
winning was not the goal. When Amir decides not to rin from Assef, he welcomed
the pain rather than running away from it as he did early on in the novel. Amir feels
as though this is the punishment that he deserved because of his unfaithfulness to
Hassan. This is the motive behind Amir s laughter during the fight. Upon going to
the hospital after the fight, the doctor tells Amir that he has a scar splitting his
upper lip, which ends up being similar to Hassan s. When Amir s scar surfaces, it
shows the equality between Amir and Hassan. His whole life, Hassan was seen of a
lower status because his family couldn t afford to get it
Essay on The History and Hardships of the Jewish People
Since the beginning of the Judaism, the Jewish people have been subject to
hardships and discrimination. They have not been allowed to have a stabile place of
worship and have also faced persecution and atrocities that most of us can not even
imagine. Three events that have had a big impact on the Jewish faith were the
building and destruction of the First Great Temple, the Second Great Temple and the
events of the Holocaust. In this paper, I will discuss these three events and also
explain and give examples as to why I feel that the Jewish people have always been
discriminated against and not allowed the freedom of worship. King David secured
the beginnings of a prosperous Israelite empire; he made Jerusalem its capital and

After enduring the seizing of their Kingdom and the burning of their Temple and
homes, most of the Israelites were exiled from their homes. Consequently, it would
take them fifty years to return to their first real home of worship.
After their exile, around fifty thousand Jews returned to Jerusalem which was now
called Judaea. The leader of Judea, the Persian King Cyrus, allowed the Jews to
return and to build another place of worship (Fisher 251). The second temple was
built in 515 BCE and according to the text Living Religions, became the central
symbol to a scattered Jewish nation (Fisher). The temple became a place where the
Torah was formed and where the religion prospered. However, Jewish prosperity
was not going to last. After four centuries of Roman rule, that was domineering and
dreadful, a group of Jews decided to rebel against their oppressors. This led to Jews
being slaughtered by the Romans and to the second Temple being destroyed. All
that is left of the Temple are foundation stones which are referred to as the Western
Wall. The temple has never been rebuilt and the Western Wall has become a place
for prayer and remembrance for Jews all over the world. Jewish people look at the
Western Wall as a representation of the hardships and oppression that their religion
and people have endured. According to the article, Mystical Secret of the Western

Grand Theories Of Child Development Essay

consisting of social, emotional and cognitive development. The study of human
development is a rich as well as differed subject. All of us have personal experience
with development, however this is sometimes difficult to understand how and why
people grow, discover, and act as they do. Why do children act in specific ways? Is
their behavior pertaining to their age, relationship, or individual temperament?

Essay on The Role of Poetry in Narrative Prose of the...
If I happen to encounter poetry imbedded within prose, I tend to either skip over it,
scan it, or otherwise read it as quickly as possible if it seems uninteresting. I am
almost shamed to admit that my reading habits hold no exception for traditional
Japanese literature, although I guess I am forced to go back and actually read them
thoroughly now, since that happens to be the topic of this paper. First of all, I can
grasp the meaning of the poem if it is obvious enough in context. For someone
unfamiliar with Japanese literature, history, language, etc., it is difficult to
understand, let alone recognize the allusions present. Luckily, Royall Tyler was kind
enough to footnote a good majority of the poems for the inexperienced readers...

A deep seated sorrow is felt at the loss of her companionship. Yes, yes, it is all very
moving and pretty, until one realizes that this is Narihira we are reading about. In the
short time I have spent with him and Genji, I have come to develop a distinct dislike
for these two characters, which makes me biased against anything involving them,
especially their poetry. Just the thought of this poetry being composed by such
people, fictional or not, instantly makes it unappealing. Actual correspondence
between the men and women in these tales through poetry is even worse; having that
as the only form of communication between them seems frustrating. More often than
not in its romantic role in stories, poetry only serves to foster wrongful feelings,
inciting misplaced passions that lead to shameful misdeeds. I suppose society was
simply like that at the time and I should give in and accept it for what it was and be
happy that that is not the modern convention. Perhaps it is an ancient form of the
current interpreting the text message? Moving on to poetry in a different type of
narrative, the Tosa Diary is filled with poetry unconcerned with romantic
relationships, comprised of farewells, statements, and descriptions of the strange and
horrifying new sights they encounter on the sea bound voyage. Many of them convey

The Two Witnesses of Revelation
Who are the witnesses of Revelation 11? What is there importance? There are
multiple theories on who these witness are. One of the most popular theories is
that it will be Elijah and Enoch because they were taken away by God before their
death.(2 Kings 2:11; Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5) Others believe that it will be
Moses, who turned water to blood and sent other plagues on Egypt, and Elijah
because he stopped the rain in Israel for 3 1/2 years. (Exodus 7 12; 1 Kings 17:1)
Another theory believes that the two witnessesare the two houses of Israel. Finally,
another theory is that these two witnesses will be completely new. All of these have
different twists and use scripture to back them up. However, almost everyone
believes their importance in the end times because it is pretty clearly stated in the
Bible. (Revelation 11: 1 14) First, let us look at the theory that the Moses and Elijah
are the two witnesses. The most common reason to believe Moses and Elijah are
the two witnesses are because the miracles they will perform are similar to the
judgments inflicted in the Old Testament by Moses and Elijah for the purpose of
stimulating repentance. Elijah called down fire from heaven (2 Kings 1:10, 12)
and pronounced a three and one half year drought on the land (1 Kings 17:1; James
5:17) the same length as the drought brought by the two witnesses (Rev. 11:6).
Moses turned the waters of the Nile into blood (Ex. 7:17 21) and announced the
other plagues on Egypt recorded in

What Is Oprah Winfrey A Role Model
What is a role model? A person whose behavior, lesson or success is or can be

How Does Obedience Affect The Working Relationship
Between...
It has been over 40 years since Stanley Milgram s famous experiments on
obedience. The topic of obedience has been explored for centuries and there
continues to be more to learn. Why do people obey authority? Are some groups of
people more prone to obey authority than others? Does the environment play a role
in how far people go to obey orders? These questions were asked after the actions of
Germany during World War II (Houghton 2009). The situationist perspective and
bad barrel theory are basic theories of obedience. The situationist perspective claims
that people will neglect their dispositions if placed in a powerful enough situation
(Houghton 2009). The bad barrel theory, coined by Philip Zimbardo, says that if you
put people in a bad situation, the situation can take over (Houghton 2009). Stanley
Milgram s shock experiment and Philip Zimbardo s Stanford Prison Experiment are
two popular experiments of obedience. How does obedience effect the working
relationship between doctors and nurses? Is there a tipping point in which nurses
refuse to carry out the doctors orders? Is there a point where doctors refuse to work
with nurses that question them? Does gender play a role in this working
relationship? If so, how? Physicians know their professional status, but are aware
that it is favorable for them to treat nurses with respect and acknowledge them as a
valuable team member of the health team (Devine 1978). Nurses reported they felt

basic methods of analysis of music has been suggested to date back to the eighteenth

8 in C minor, Op. 13 composed in 1798 focussing on musical features such as melody,
thematic content, rhythm, form and structure and harmony. This sonata has been
chosen for analysis as it is the most popular Beethoven sonata within the performance
circuit, as it is a well known piece worldwide. Secondly, Beethoven developed Sonata
form, adding more thematic contrast and contrasting melodies reflecting his own
personal struggles with his progressive loss of hearing and also his failures in his
love life which all contributed to the passion and despair that is depicted within the
sonatas during his second compositional stage in his career.
Firstly, I will discuss the methods used in order to analyse the Form and Structure
of the piece. The emphasis in analysis was often given to the form and structure of
the piece, especially during the nineteenth century as this allows performers to gain
knowledge more directly regarding the overall style of the piece. The sonata is
composed in Sonata form and is separated into three movements, firstly the Grave
Allegro di molto e con brio movement, followed by the Adagio Cantabile middle
movement and finally the Rondo Allegro movement. There are different meanings to
the word structure in music, the first is to do with locating the different movements
or the different sections of the piece and the second is to look at how the piece has

An Overview Of Lord Keeper Bacon At The Opening Of...
Primary Source Analysis An Overview By Lord Keeper Bacon at the Opening of
Parliament, 12 January 1563 In 1563 Lord Keeper Bacon, a member of parliament,
wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth I, which was presented to parliament on January
12, 1563, requesting the issues with the church teaching be resolved. The letter
argued that in order for Lord Keeper Bacon, as well as his lord bishops, to truly
understand the religion, Queen Elizabeth I must reform the issues regarding the
teachings of doctrine and discipline. This document is a speech on the matter of
religious settlements in the early Elizabethan era. It calls for clarifications of the
teachings of doctrine and discipline, which were necessary to sustain religion.
Regarding the teachings of doctrine, the issues presented in this speech pertain to
ministers who were either accustomed to teaching with the beliefs of Catholicism or
who do not teach the true word of God. In addition, the issues regarding discipline are
that the ministers and members of the church may have become corrupt with no true
disciplinary consequences set forth as punishment. This document is written in a time
where the religion had been changed numerous times, leaving the people, including
the author, Lord Keeper Bacon, confused. Although somewhat unsure as to what the
exact guidelines for the religious settlement would be, Lord Keeper Bacon was not
kept in the dark. Originally known as Nicholas Bacon, who would be appointed Lord

Banksy is one of the famous English graffiti artist, film director, painter and political
activist through the use of painting. He has produced different satirical street art
combined with subversive epigrams and dark humor of graffiti. These have been
executed in the distinctive stenciling method. Therefore, the paper analyzes how
Banksy has changed the people s view of graffiti as being vandalism to a form of
controversial political issues using street art. The name Banksy has ignited
controversy and piqued curiosity. He is undoubtedly one of the famous and most
controversial street artists who has emerged on the global stage. The fact that the
identity Banksy remains unknown after more than twenty years on the graffiti
scene improves the intrigue that surrounds most of his work. There are various
artworks of Banksy that have appeared in, Canada, England, America, Australia,
France, Palestine and Israel and Jamaica. His pictorial, as well as, satirical
messages are seen across the boundaries of art, philosophy, politics, narcissism,
sociology and humor. Most of Banksy s works are based on political and social
commentary and have been featured on different streets, bridges and walls of cities in
various countries throughout the world. In tracing his work history, Banksy s work
has grown out of the Bristol underground scene. These involved the
Music Appreciation Of The New York Philharmonic
The paper at hand is a music appreciation of The New York Philharmonic s
performance of Gustav Holst s The Planets at Avery Fisher Hall, New York, on 7th
July 2013 at 3:00 p.m. This tenth season of Summertime Classics, presented by The
New York Philharmonic, features Bramwell Tovey, who has been the host as well
as the conductor of this series since its commencement in 2004 (Gilbert, 2013, p.1).
Tovey, a Grammy winning conductor is renowned all around the world as a highly
versatile musician due to his artistic depth as well as charismatic personality that
reflects in his works as a composer and pianist (p.1). On the other hand, The New
York Philharmonic is an orchestragroup that is comprised of highly talented
musicians who by playing musical instruments such as violins, piccolo, cellos,
trombones etc are able to bring in the essence of the works done by original
composers (Keller, 2012, p.7).
This concert series basically features two programs with Holst s The Planets being
performed during the end of the second program, which also includes Adams Short
Ride in a Fast Machine, Offenbach s Ballet of the Snowflakes from Le Voyage dans
la lune and Josef Strauss s Music of the Spheres (New York Public Radio, 2013,
p.1). I happened to really enjoy the concert primarily due to the overall ambience
provided by the program. Tovey does a wonderful job in leading the orchestra as well
as maintaining a good rapport with the audience throughout the concert. It felt like the
Members of Congress Should Have Term Limits Essay
When the United States was founded, the theme behind the new government was to
establish an efficient system without doling out too much power to any one person.
The Founders intended to prevent a rebirth of tyranny, which they had just escaped
by breaking away from England. However, when members of Congress such as
Tom Foley, who served as a Representative from 1964 through 1995, and Jack
Brooks, who served as a Representative from 1952 through 1994, remain in the
legislative system for over forty years, it is evident that tyranny has not necessarily
been eradicated from the United States (Vance, 1994, p. 429). Term limits are a
necessity to uphold the Founders intentions, to prevent unfair advantages given to
incumbents, and to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, career politicians are constantly looking for what will aid them in getting
reelected. They become more loyal to their campaign fund contributers than to the
people whom they represent. This increases the likelihood of having corrupted
politicians in office, as they use the government as a vehicle to further their own
career (Kurfirst, 1996, p. 123, 129). George Will, a well known political journalist,
was quoted as saying [The] worst feature of professionalism in politics is that it
obliterates the proper distance between the representatives and the represented
(Kurfirst, 1996, p. 125). Even James Madison agreed that legislators were meant to
represent the people, not hold office as a career. In The Federalist No. 57 (1788),
he wrote, From this change of men must proceed a change of opinions; and from a
change of opinions, a change of measures. The lack of new faces in Congress today
symbolizes that the American legislative branch is straying from its intended
purpose. While both houses were intended to have new members regularly with
each election, the House of Representatives was especially supposed to change.
James Madison wrote, in The Federalist No. 57 (1788), [Representatives] will be
taken from that class of citizens which will...be most likely to aim at an ambitious
sacrifice of the many and the aggrandizement of the few. Whereas Senators were
Concrete Slab Foundations
A home s foundation is the bottom most layer that provides the support for a
home. Depending on the part of the country, the size of the home and when it was
built, the type of foundation may vary. Concrete slab foundations are the most
common; some are built to sustain crawl spaces or basements. Other foundation
types are pier and beam, pile and spread foundations. Regardless of the type, all
will require at some point foundation repair. Signs of a foundation in need of repair
include cracks in the walls, bricks, drywall, tile or even the foundation itself. Other
signs are sticky doorjambs and windows, sloping floors, cracking or separating
chimneys or fascia board. In some cases, mold may accumulate in the cracks.
Whether too much or not enough, water is the main culprit in foundation repair
cases. Over saturated soil expands pushing into the home and foundation and over
time loses stability, causing the foundation to again move and crack. Dry soil on the
other hand contracts, pulling away from the perimeter of the home, leaving little
support for the foundation, causing shifts and cracks. When foundation problems
begin to appear it is crucial to repair them as soon as possible. Early foundation
repairs may prevent further problems down the road and save... Show more content on

Interview foundation repair companies to find their area of expertise and to obtain
bids. Based on your research, then ask for referrals to obtain customer insight into
the company and process. Ask the companies about warranties, guarantees, how they
handle unexpected findings that increase the initial bid and cost estimate. Also ask
them how they propose to repair the damaged foundation and what to expect about
the time of the project and any pre project work you will need to do. Some repairs
require that mantels and walls are emptied or basements cleared

Ophela Quotes
Ophelia asked, Belinda why are you so afraid of this giant you called Grunk?
Shortly after we first came to Morpheus, I was Grunk s prisoner, imagine someone as
powerful as Bork, only instead of helping you he s trying to get you instead, that s
what we re up against. I ll make you a deal, you take care of him for me and I ll take
care of one of your fears for you.
Hippie girl said, Ophelia, I strongly urge you not to use your power, you are near
the tipping point and could easily send us all into oblivion, perhaps that is what
Chaos seeks to have you do.
Belinda said, Is that what we re calling the black shadow now?

Remedies Might Cost More than Fixing Smog Related Problems ( removed HTML )
There are many sketchy or risky ways to pass a smog test, but they are usually not
worth the risk. There are also ambiguous claims that tend to balance out under real
world conditions. For example, some people claim that rainy weather can cause tires
to slip when your vehicle is on the dynamometer. However, the warm up cycle
usually dries the tires sufficiently so that moisture is seldom a problem. Increased
humidity can actually lower the emissions of certain pollutants. Some experts
recommend using all your gas or draining your tank and adding a small amount of
ethanol before the test. Ethanol burns hotter and cleaner, but you run the risk of
overheating your engine. The costs of this kind of damage far exceed what it would
cost to repair your emissions system, and you would need to drain your tank again
or fill your tank to dilute the ethanol after the test. You need a valid smog check
certificate to sell your vehicle, and the test must be done within 90
The Girl And Mother In My Mother By Jamaica Kincaid
In the story My Mother Jamaica Kincaid shows the reader that the girl has an
obsession with her mother. The mother has a power over the girl throughout the
book. The girl looks back onto when she was younger and misses her relationship that
she had with her mother. The author shows this through intensely lyrical images and
showing the problematic intimacy between the girl and her mother.
The mother of the girl in the book was only mentioned a few times up until the
story called My Mother. The story My Mother focused on the relationship between
the girl and mother. One of the main thing that is focused on is the girl s obsession
with her mother. In the first sentence on of the story My Mother the girl says,
Immediately on wishing my mother dead and seeing the pain it caused her, I was
sorry and cried so many tears that all earth around me was drenched, (Kincaid 53).
This shows the reader that the girl doesn t want to cause her mother pain, and just
wishing it upon her makes the girl very upset. The obsession between the girl and
her mother is very strong. The girl says My mother and I now watched each other
carefully, always making sure to shower the other with words and deeds of love and
affection. (Kincaid 54). The love between the girl and the mother is very strong
and that is all that the girl wants from her mother. The girl is more than obsessed
with her mother she also relies on her mother. The girl says My mother and I were
standing on the seabed side by side, my arms laced loosely around her waist, my
head resting securely on her shoulder, as if I needed the support. (Kincaid 55). This
shows the reader that the girl wants to be really close to her mother and expects her
mother to support her throughout her life.
The girl isn t just obsessed with her mother she also doesn t want to grow up and
leave her mother. The girl uses what seem life flashbacks to talk about how she
became independent from her mother. The girl knows that her mother won t always
be there to support her, but she doesn t want to accept that fact. The girl knew one
day that she would have to grow up and become a woman, but she didn t expect it
coming. The girl says I lay on her bosom, breathless, for a time uncomfortable,
The Importance Of Greek Columns In Ancient Rome
The Greeks had amazing concepts that you can now find in many modern American
civilizations, but what did they do to get their inventions and ideas spread across the
world? They brought forth ideas such as, architecture, sports, democracy, arts,
mathematics and philosophy.
When you see modern buildings such as The White House, The Abraham Lincoln
Memorial or The U.S Capital, they all have one thing in common...columns. Columns
originate from Greek architecture to support ceilings without the obligation of having
walls, creating more space. Many of the different columns originated from Ancient
Greece, three to be exact, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Doric columns have wider
bottoms and simple capitals (capitals are the top part of the column) ... Show more

Their Democracy created the foundation for modern day American government. It is
the only government that cared for the common wealth of its citizens. hey brought
upon representatives and the system of checks and balances. The Greeks had their
representatives and divided them into two houses both of which used the checks and
balances to make sure one side didn t get more powerful than the other. Just like
modern day democracy the representatives were well respected, in greek term most
were aristocrats. Athenian democracy was more direct than our modern day one.
Meaning that the Athenian citizens voted on all of the laws, but just like today only
men 18 years and older could
Ammonium Chloride And Sodium Hydrochloric Acid
In this experiment, it is evident that the measurements of the temperatures are
consistent with physical change presented in each the solution. The initial

  • 1. The Importance Of Being Earnest Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "The Importance of Being Earnest" may present both challenges and rewards. On one hand, the topic itself is rich with layers of wit, satire, and social commentary, offering ample material for analysis. However, the complexity lies in navigating through Oscar Wilde's intricate play, understanding its nuances, and effectively conveying one's interpretations. To begin with, comprehending the subtle humor and satire in "The Importance of Being Earnest" requires a keen eye and an understanding of the Victorian society that Wilde satirizes. Unraveling the layers of wordplay, paradoxes, and societal critiques demands careful consideration and analytical prowess. Moreover, the play delves into themes such as identity, marriage, and societal expectations, requiring a nuanced approach to explore these concepts thoroughly. One must grapple with the challenge of striking a balance between interpreting the play's comedic elements and recognizing the serious social criticisms embedded within its fabric. The task is not merely summarizing the plot or character dynamics; it involves delving into the underlying messages and implications Wilde intended to convey. Additionally, presenting a unique perspective on a well-explored topic like "The Importance of Being Earnest" demands creativity and originality. With countless essays written on this classic play, the pressure to contribute something novel to the discourse can be daunting. While the process of dissecting Wilde's masterpiece may be intellectually stimulating, it also necessitates a commitment to thorough research, critical thinking, and effective communication. It requires a delicate balance between providing insightful analysis and avoiding overinterpretation. In conclusion, composing an essay on the importance of being earnest is a task that requires a blend of literary acumen, historical context comprehension, and original thought. • 5. Musical Theatre Comparison Essay Musicals and Opera are both very similar forms of Musical Theatre that involve singing, acting and dancing. But they also have important differences. Musicals and Opera differ in the importance of the words, the number of people attending each year, and the style of music they use. Many people enjoy both kinds of musical theatre , both in performing them and being in the audience. It is a form of expression enjoyed by all generations. In musicals the dialogue and the lyrics in songs are extremely important to getting the message across. Shows are known for their witty one liners and for telling the story during iconic songs. It would be extremely difficult to understand what is happening if you watched a musical that was written in another language. This is quite the opposite from an Opera, the majority of operas are written in Italian, German or French. For someone who speaks a language other than the one being performed, it is not a problem. The main focus in opera is on the music. The story is told... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marketing and Ethics (United Colors of Benetton) Essay Often regarded as a leader in the multinational marketing industry, United Colors of Benetton continues to face the challenge of effectively marketing clothes across racial, cultural, and religious borders. Renowned for using social issued themed pictures to promote its brand, Benetton has strayed from traditional marketing techniques to provide customers with an idea of the many issues that plaque societies from continent to continent. Maintaining Luciano Benetton s ability to transform sweaters into messages, shirts into signs, and jeans into signifiers, the company sought out an artist, not an advertiser who respected the rules of traditional marketing . Benetton hired Oliviero Toscani, a photographer who has earned recognition from his edgy photography style. Toscani chose to use print and poster as his media, a very unusual advertising decision for a clothing company. In addition, because television advertisements historically have cost retailers up to 62% of their advertising budgets, Benetton initially refused to promote itself on television. They later agreed to do so only on specific networks outside of Italy, such as MTV in the U.S.2 At the heart of Toscani s basic advertising and marketing strategy was what he often referred to as a communications strategy based on the diversity focused slogan integrated into the United Colors of Benetton Campaigns. With this theme of unification, Toscani chose to transform advertising into news, paying close attention to current events.2 Because Benetton s clothes were sold around the world, the expenses incurred to tailor campaigns to specific national markets would have been enormous. To reduce these high costs, Toscani attempted to bring the world s markets together by using a single advertisement that would appeal to many cultures, races,

  • 9. Tungsten Essay In 1781, Carl Wilhelm Scheele discovered Tungsten, which is also known as Wolfram. The word Tungsten is used in the United States, but Wolfram is still used in some European countries. Tungsten comes from the Swedish language which means heavy stone . Tungsten is a very strong, shiny, gray white metalthat makes up just a tiny fraction of the earth s crust and is always combined with other elements as compounds. Every tungstenatom has 74 positively charged protons in the nucleus which means it also has 74 negatively charged electrons revolving around the nucleus. An interesting fact is that wolframite and scheelite are the only two important sources of the metal. Wolframite contains varying amounts of irontungstate and manganese tungstate. Another important tungsten mineral is scheelite, which varies in color from white to green. The leading producers of tungsten are China, with 37,000 tons, Russia, with 3,600 tons and Austria, with 1,700 tons. Another interesting fact is that more than half of the world s supply of tungsten comes from mines in the Nah Ling Mountains of Jianxi, Henan and Quangdong provinces of China. The method to extract tungsten ore is generally a compromise between safety and cost. One way to mine it is using the room and pillar method, which is cutting rooms in tungsten, and leaving a series of columns called pillars . However other mines use the bulk mining method of slashing out the ore . This involves drilling into the face of the tungsten deposit to carve out large chunks of the ore. Around 30% of tungsten comes from scrap and waste metal. Tungsten its self is not a major pollutant, but scrap and waste tungsten may contain other metals that are harmful to the environment. In addition, recycling is a lot cheaper than disposing of the waste

While it is not the most pleasant subject, death is something that needs to be addressed to prepare those who will have to manage it when the time comes. Depending on the situation at hand, certain circumstances of demise may not be completely understood, and in these cases, autopsies can provide families with closure by giving them answers needed to clarify any questions that may have come along with the loss of their loved one ( American Autopsy Services , np). Having an answer regarding a loved one s death in cases of uncertainty is psychologically beneficial to the family members, especially if they are concerned that the death had occurred because of something they did. If there were any genetic disorders that led to the death, those can be clarified and relayed to the family as well. Clinicians and hospitals benefit from autopsies because they provide reassurance of the diagnoses, treatments and the appropriateness of the medical care received. Society experiences the benefits of autopsies through the evaluation of diagnostic tests, drugs, and diagnostic techniques along with advanced medical knowledge of new diseases as well as environmental, occupational, and existing diseases. Mortality statistics are only able to be verified from autopsy data because so often statistics are inaccurate with the lack of an autopsy (Stöppler,
  • 11. Why Negotiations Occur Within An Organization Introduction This research paper pursues two aims. First is to illustrate why negotiations occur within an organization. This will be done through examining the dimensionality of negotiation and dispute resolution. Second is to address some of the challenges of negotiating. Included as a part of this, is an analysis of the different tones and styles to adopt when negotiating, which may aid towards overcoming these challenges. The main aim of this research is to outline the issues and broadly develop the argument and evidence in support of each party s position towards trying to achieve a win win solution. Abstract Negotiation occurs as a resolution process towards managing conflict effectively and efficiently within an organization.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First type of employment contract Conflict may also bear as a result of the very nature of the work organization, a battle of ideas that takes place where implications may occur. This perspective is relevant to a debate surrounding the promotion of the psychological contract, which is seen as the perception of the two parties, employee and employer, of what their mutual obligations are towards each other (Guest, D. and Conway, N.). The psychological contract consists of the expectations that employees have with their employing organizations. The implications of this are implicit. The complexity of this contract leaves room for misinterpretations, however, ensuring that the terms and conditions have been made clear through open and honest discussions with mutual expectations and obligations will limit the conflict. Second type of employment contract The other type of contract, the employment relationship, Kevin Kelloway explains as, a form of work that is performed under contractual arrangements that involves material rewards (Kelloway, K.). This allows for a level of managerial control towards forming the fundamental link between desired outcomes and actual processes. Entering into an employment relations, the employer buys the employees capabilities to work, known as, labour power, this takes the notion of Marx s formulation. Whereby he developed the theory that
  • 12. The Relapse Of Heroin Previously, when society thought about drug addicts, they pictured the homeless, the poor, the prostitutes, the high school dropouts, and the overall troublemakers of society. However, the reality is that now drug addicts are working and living right next to each and every one of us, and most people do not even realize it. These addicts are parents, children, siblings, friends, and coworkers. Many of them are able to have jobs, have social lives, and are able to hide their addiction for quite some time. Cicero, a professor of psychiatry at Washington University analyzed a study from a sample of 2,800 men and women who had sought out treatment for heroin addiction. He found, White individuals made up approximately 90% of the study participants who began using heroin in the last decade... Men represented slightly more than 80% of heroin users who began opioid abuse in 1960s, according to the study. But by 2010, nearly equal numbers of male and female heroin users were seeking treatment...(Nierenberg, 2014). The changing demographics of heroin usage noted prove that preventing heroin abuse is a public health issue that does not discriminate against age, race, gender, or socioeconomic class. Heroin use is becoming increasingly more popular in suburbs because the teenagers there have the money to pay for it, which dealers have begun to take advantage of. This is important for health care providers and members of the community in general to recognize because the drug users and abusers no longer fit into the stereotypical poor, troubled individuals. • 13. The Blues, A Genre Of Music Does one have to be black and from the south to play the blues? The blues, a genre of music so well known and so universal, that one knows is associated with black culture; and forever connected to it. However, some may argue that not anyone can play the blues and blues is only black music. That being said, does it matter what the skin color of an individual may be to play the blues? In contrast I strongly believe anyone can play the blues because music is the purest form of creativity and communication. The reality is that today it is seen it all over, countless of people from many parts of the globe perform this genre of music known as The Blues. It is played by the millions and by many different races some of which are not from the south; but is it wrong for them to play it? Certain individuals may believe that playing the blues, one has to be black to even be considered. There is an individual who argues that one needs to really have The Blues to play them and it is only black music. (Harris, 2015 n.p) On the other hand I would consider that the culture or race of the performer does not matter. People from all races and backgrounds experience the blues, this genre of music has become universal; it is a part of world music now. it is wonderful to think that a genre of music once viewed as wrong or barbaric has become so well popularized and loved. When one thinks of the blues one almost always pictures a lone black man in his guitar singing his troubles away.

  • 15. What Role Does Anonymity Play At One s Online Activities,... What role does anonymity play in one s online activities, and why does this matter? The rapid growth in technological innovation has brought about an increase in information via digital platforms, bridging communications all over the world from different geographical locations. This progression of virtual interactivity has enabled the possibility of anonymity, and it has deliberated continuously whether it aids or hinders society, and questions the efficacy of anonymity. One aspect of anonymity is that it is implemented in the identity of online self representation through the discourses of general communication, cyberbullying and hacker criminality. Therefore, the character of obscurity is crucial in specific online actions and this will be analysed throughout. Anonymity acts as a different tool for every purpose, and how it impacts individuals and society in varied measures. There are consequences of invisibility, in both positive and negative aspects which tailor an individual s online portrayal. Focusing on how invisibility can be democratic and influence community building, but at the same time encourage immoral behaviour, reflects the prominence of cyberbullying and corrupt activity. In the digital sphere, it can be argued that there are no interferences or obstructions from accessing and manipulating data, any identity is ours for the taking and making (Milestone and Meyer, 2012). An online identity is undecipherable; a true identity cannot be deduced as
  • 16. The Relationship Between Politics And Administration In... The idea of civil service dates back to ancient times. But bureaucracy is modern terms that evolved with the emergence of Public Administration as an academic field. Politics administration dichotomy is one of the most important factor in the Study of Public Administration by Woodrow Wilson in 1887 (Afegbua: 2013). Nature of administration, the extent of work by bureaucracyand many other issues are characterized by the relationship between politics and administration. Bangladesh has experienced different forms of government regime from military autocratic to democratic republic. Before liberation, it experienced government system under British Colonialism and government by Pakistan as it was part of Pakistan earlier. Due to the variation in the forms of government the relations between politics and administration were also different. The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) is one of the most important pillars of the National Integrity System having a key role in promoting excellence and integrity in the public service and administration of the country. PSC s independence, political neutrality, transparency, accountability, integrity and effectiveness are fundamental prerequisites for carrying out its functions which include holding of competitive examinations for recruitment to the public service, recommend recruitments, promotions, discipline, employee appeal and other related matters. Imagine having the ability to harness and bend each of these four elements into anything you desire. Each one of these elements has their own different but unique characteristic. They all have endless possibilities depending on how you decide to use each one of them. Let us start with the simplest one, the Air element. This element is really basic. Although Air bending sounds really simple there are a lot of things you are able to do with it. You can create air rushes, tornadoes and other kind of aerial disruptions. Destiny was more seriously considered in during ancient Greek society and the Greeks centered their lives around oracles who could tell people their destiny and what the gods had in store for them. Whether that information was heeded or not, it greatly affected everyone s life because it basically prophesied the future. There is a quote by Jean de La Fontaine that states, One often meets his destinyon the road he takes to avoid it. If one knows what one is destined for, should one try to change it? Humankind was freed of its misery through Prometheus s help and their misery became Prometheus s misery almost like karma or like the existence of energy in thermodynamics. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed so since misery existed to begin with, it was just transferred from humankind to Prometheus. He knew of the suffering to come but he didn t know how it would be when he reached that point in his destiny and the amount of suffering he actually experienced took him by surprise. It didn t take him as much by surprise as if he didn t know what suffering he would receive at all so he probably would have thought twice about helping humankind if he didn t know his destiny. If people know the extent of the consequences that would follow their actions, they would be able to make more concrete decisions and accept their fate easier when it comes along. Not long after, Io, the girl who was cursed by Zeus, happens to come along and find Prometheus s prison. Impact Of Technology On Law Enforcement Law Enforcement and Technology Introduction Revolutionary progress in the field of information technology has ushered in numerous changes in the ways police officers and law enforcement agencies use to identify, trail and make cases against suspects. Throughout the last century, most of the technological advances in surveillance by law enforcement revolved around establishing and enhancing methods of communication: telephones, radio calls and other emergency communications. Stingray is a sophisticated, portable device that is able to trail cell phone signals inside homes, vehicles and even insulated buildings. In this system, Stingray trackers operate as fake cell towers. This allows law enforcers to pin down the location of a targeted mobile device by sucking up data such as emails, text messages and cell site information. Consequently, when a suspect makes a phone call, the system will trick the cell into sending its signal back to law enforcers, thereby preventing the signal from travelling back to the individual s wireless carrier. Stingray is also capable of extracting data off other cell phone users in that location. Facial Recognition Software In this surveillance system, law enforcers take a photograph of a person s face and then compare the biometrics to other pictures stored in a database. If the person s photograph was in the database, there will be a match. This will enable the officers to identify the person behind the face. Paradigms and their relation to the Spectator The Cinema of Attractions is based on an exhibitionist paradigm (Gunning, 2004: 44), where it seeks to knowingly addressing the spectator and provide its spectator with a series of views or selective information (Strauven, 1999: 49). The cinema of attractions existed primarily between the years 1895 and 1906 (Strauven, 1999: 38). Cinema of Attractions is concerned with the ability to display. These devices are connected using communication channels. A communication channel is assigned to a medium used to transport information from one network device to another, such as wired channels and wireless channels (Parsons, 2016). A primary system is made up of at least two computing devices either wired or wireless points of connection; these points are network ports. There are usually one network hub or network switch that permits their interconnection. The most standard wired computer networks are known as Ethernet. This is made up of UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cables, and just about all personal computers have a UTP Ethernet Network port as standard. The printer also comes with an Ethernet port, making it easily shared amongst the user of a network. Other wired channels are coaxial cable used for cable T.V, Category 6 cables used for LANs, and fiber optic cables used for high capacity trunk lines. Now that they had been defeated the government was able to adopt their industrialization policies without putting them in power. Industrialization also came hand in hand with collectivisation as machinery such as tractors had to be produced. 1921 to 1927 were the years of the NEP.VSNKh can be said to have just regulated the economy during the NEP as opposed to doing anything else. However in all fairness, it is difficult to even talk about a planned economy between the years of 1924 and 1928, whatever the role of the state planning institutions, as the state did not run the most effective parts of the economy. The state s ability to plan was greatly hindered by the fact that it ran heavy industry and not agriculture. Consequently, it would take them fifty years to return to their first real home of worship. After their exile, around fifty thousand Jews returned to Jerusalem which was now called Judaea. The leader of Judea, the Persian King Cyrus, allowed the Jews to return and to build another place of worship (Fisher 251). The second temple was built in 515 BCE and according to the text Living Religions, became the central symbol to a scattered Jewish nation (Fisher). The temple became a place where the Torah was formed and where the religion prospered. However, Jewish prosperity was not going to last. After four centuries of Roman rule, that was domineering and dreadful, a group of Jews decided to rebel against their oppressors. One of the most popular theories is that it will be Elijah and Enoch because they were taken away by God before their death.(2 Kings 2:11; Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5) Others believe that it will be Moses, who turned water to blood and sent other plagues on Egypt, and Elijah because he stopped the rain in Israel for 3 1/2 years. The most common reason to believe Moses and Elijah are the two witnesses are because the miracles they will perform are similar to the judgments inflicted in the Old Testament by Moses and Elijah for the purpose of stimulating repentance. • 36. How Does Obedience Affect The Working Relationship Between... It has been over 40 years since Stanley Milgram s famous experiments on obedience. The topic of obedience has been explored for centuries and there continues to be more to learn. Why do people obey authority? Are some groups of people more prone to obey authority than others? Does the environment play a role in how far people go to obey orders? These questions were asked after the actions of Germany during World War II (Houghton 2009). The situationist perspective and bad barrel theory are basic theories of obedience. The situationist perspective claims that people will neglect their dispositions if placed in a powerful enough situation (Houghton 2009). The bad barrel theory, coined by Philip Zimbardo, says that if you put people in a bad situation, the situation can take over (Houghton 2009). Stanley Milgram s shock experiment and Philip Zimbardo s Stanford Prison Experiment are two popular experiments of obedience. How does obedience effect the working relationship between doctors and nurses? Is there a tipping point in which nurses refuse to carry out the doctors orders? Is there a point where doctors refuse to work with nurses that question them? Does gender play a role in this working relationship? If so, how? Physicians know their professional status, but are aware that it is favorable for them to treat nurses with respect and acknowledge them as a valuable team member of the health team (Devine 1978). Nurses reported they felt that doctors

This sonata has been chosen for analysis as it is the most popular Beethoven sonata within the performance circuit, as it is a well known piece worldwide. Secondly, Beethoven developed Sonata form, adding more thematic contrast and contrasting melodies reflecting his own personal struggles with his progressive loss of hearing and also his failures in his love life which all contributed to the passion and despair that is depicted within the sonatas during his second compositional stage in his career. Firstly, I will discuss the methods used in order to analyse the Form and Structure of the piece. The emphasis in analysis was often given to the form and structure of the piece, especially during the nineteenth century as this allows performers to gain knowledge more directly regarding the overall style of the piece. The sonata is composed in Sonata form and is separated into three movements, firstly the Grave Allegro di molto e con brio movement, followed by the Adagio Cantabile middle movement and finally the Rondo Allegro movement. There are different meanings to the word structure in music, the first is to do with locating the different movements or the different sections of the piece and the second is to look at how the piece has been put

Primary Source Analysis An Overview By Lord Keeper Bacon at the Opening of Parliament, 12 January 1563 In 1563 Lord Keeper Bacon, a member of parliament, wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth I, which was presented to parliament on January 12, 1563, requesting the issues with the church teaching be resolved. The letter argued that in order for Lord Keeper Bacon, as well as his lord bishops, to truly understand the religion, Queen Elizabeth I must reform the issues regarding the teachings of doctrine and discipline. This document is a speech on the matter of religious settlements in the early Elizabethan era. It calls for clarifications of the teachings of doctrine and discipline, which were necessary to sustain religion. Regarding the teachings of doctrine, the issues presented in this speech pertain to ministers who were either accustomed to teaching with the beliefs of Catholicism or who do not teach the true word of God. In addition, the issues regarding discipline are that the ministers and members of the church may have become corrupt with no true disciplinary consequences set forth as punishment. This document is written in a time where the religion had been changed numerous times, leaving the people, including the author, Lord Keeper Bacon, confused. Although somewhat unsure as to what the exact guidelines for the religious settlement would be, Lord Keeper Bacon was not kept in the dark. Originally known as Nicholas Bacon, who would be appointed Lord Keeper by

Members of Congress Should Have Term Limits Essay When the United States was founded, the theme behind the new government was to establish an efficient system without doling out too much power to any one person. The Founders intended to prevent a rebirth of tyranny, which they had just escaped by breaking away from England. However, when members of Congress such as Tom Foley, who served as a Representative from 1964 through 1995, and Jack Brooks, who served as a Representative from 1952 through 1994, remain in the legislative system for over forty years, it is evident that tyranny has not necessarily been eradicated from the United States (Vance, 1994, p. 429). Today, career politicians are constantly looking for what will aid them in getting reelected. They become more loyal to their campaign fund contributers than to the people whom they represent. This increases the likelihood of having corrupted politicians in office, as they use the government as a vehicle to further their own career (Kurfirst, 1996, p. 123, 129). George Will, a well known political journalist, was quoted as saying [The] worst feature of professionalism in politics is that it obliterates the proper distance between the representatives and the represented (Kurfirst, 1996, p. 125). Even James Madison agreed that legislators were meant to represent the people, not hold office as a career. In The Federalist No. 57 (1788), he wrote, From this change of men must proceed a change of opinions; and from a change of opinions, a change of measures. The lack of new faces in Congress today symbolizes that the American legislative branch is straying from its intended purpose. • 43. Concrete Slab Foundations A home s foundation is the bottom most layer that provides the support for a home. Depending on the part of the country, the size of the home and when it was built, the type of foundation may vary. Concrete slab foundations are the most common; some are built to sustain crawl spaces or basements. Other foundation types are pier and beam, pile and spread foundations. Regardless of the type, all will require at some point foundation repair. Signs of a foundation in need of repair include cracks in the walls, bricks, drywall, tile or even the foundation itself. Other signs are sticky doorjambs and windows, sloping floors, cracking or separating chimneys or fascia board. In some cases, mold may accumulate in the cracks. Whether too much or not enough, water is the main culprit in foundation repair cases. Over saturated soil expands pushing into the home and foundation and over time loses stability, causing the foundation to again move and crack. Dry soil on the other hand contracts, pulling away from the perimeter of the home, leaving little support for the foundation, causing shifts and cracks. However, the warm up cycle usually dries the tires sufficiently so that moisture is seldom a problem. Increased humidity can actually lower the emissions of certain pollutants. The mother has a power over the girl throughout the book. The girl looks back onto when she was younger and misses her relationship that she had with her mother. The author shows this through intensely lyrical images and showing the problematic intimacy between the girl and her mother. The girl says My mother and I now watched each other carefully, always making sure to shower the other with words and deeds of love and affection. (Kincaid 54). The love between the girl and the mother is very strong and that is all that the girl wants from her mother. The girl is more than obsessed with her mother she also relies on her mother. The girl says My mother and I were standing on the seabed side by side, my arms laced loosely around her waist, my head resting securely on her shoulder, as if I needed the support. (Kincaid 55). This shows the reader that the girl wants to be really close to her mother and expects her mother to support her throughout her life. The girl isn t just obsessed with her mother she also doesn t want to grow up and leave her mother. The girl uses what seem life flashbacks to talk about how she became independent from her mother.
