Eight weeks ago, thinking about jazz conceptually was foreign to me. I had never
heard about Charles Olson or the democracy thesis. My biggest exposure to jazz
music was listening to it on radio stations that I didn t typically listen to. Over the

Everyone gathered on the campus grounds waiting on the bus to take us on our
very first archaeological field expedition. I ll be the first to admit I m something of
a loner, my only contacts with my fellow classmates was the occasional salutation

room. Normally I m the first person there because I like sitting at the back of the

United Stated education system. It is based on constructivist ideas and mirrors many
other teaching methods, with some differences. This paper attempts to provide and in
depth review of the Bank Street curriculum teaching method. The goal is to provide

Founder. Lucy Sprague Mitchell made landmark progress in the field of education
throughout her life. Born in 1878, Mitchell was one of six children in what she
considered to be a very lonely home (as cited in Smith, 2000): ...each of us, I now
know, had his particular form of tragedy. My own was extreme loneliness
loneliness within a crowd, which is, perhaps, the most poignant kind (p. 33). She
