Aristotle views describe a certain pecking order amongst biotic organisms within the
natural world. This idea of a pecking order is determined by the abilities present in an
organism due to its nature. Aristotle argued that despite plants, animals and humans
all being capable of subsistence and flourishing, only humans and animals have the

The study took place in north Europe Scandinavian countries such as Denmark,
Norway and Sweden. The local paediatrician from Norway and Sweden and the
forensic institution of Denmark invited parents of sudden infant death syndromes
(SIDS) to take part in the study. Sudden infant death syndrome is the sudden,
unexpected and unexplained death of an apparently healthy baby.
There were several aims behind the study. The main aim of the study was to
overlook whether smoking was a cause of risk for sudden infant death syndrome and
whether the consequence is owed to maternal smoking during the pregnancy or to

The truth is that our Christian civilization is riddled through and through with
dilemma. We believe in the brotherhood of man, but we do not want it in South
Africa. We believe that God endows men with diverse gifts, and that human life
depends for its fullness on their employment and enjoyment, but we are afraid to
explore this belief too deeply (Paton 187). These are some of the words spoken by
Arthur Jarvis, one of the key characters in the book Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan
Paton. These words exemplify the racial prejudice, hypocrisy, and condemnation
discerned by white South Africans. Throughout this novel, Paton unveils the realities
of racial prejudice and oppression through the use of literary elements such as irony
and symbolism; thus, this allows Paton to strengthen the delineation of hypocrisy,

I remember the day when I found out what a pumpkin pie from the bakery of my
street was made of before the bakery never existed. It was a dark, frigid night in
November, close to the week of Thanksgiving. Before that night, I loved that pumpkin
pie for its flavor, especially its smoothness. This thought completely changed that
night.
November 15th was the day. My little brother, Jeff, was craving for some pumpkin pie
, and as usual, my parents being biased, forced me to go fetch up some of that mouth
watering pumpkin pie. I really didn t want to go, but I had to. I forced Jeff to go
with me, not knowing the danger I ll get him into. I took my dog, Mickey, with me
