Romeo Passionate
Romeo Montague is characterized by his passion and his tendency to make rash decisions.
Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare provides examples of these two of Romeo s qualities,
and, ultimately, they are what define him as a tragic hero.
From the beginning of the play, it is evident that Romeo is a passionate person. In Act I, Romeo is
in a depressive state due to him falling in love with a woman named Rosaline. Romeo goes on a
tirade about how he is somber due to love and how love can destroy a person. He is feeling
rejected due to the fact that Rosaline does not love him back (1.1 L. 164 176). Romeo is
infatuated with this woman. The play doesn t directly tell much about her, only that it is said she is
very beautiful and has sworn

Essay On North And South Industrialization
The North and the South had many differences, the most important dissimilarity was their level of
industrialization. The North prioritized industry and railroads, while the South remained mostly
agricultural. Northern production, transportation networks, and economy drastically out performed
the South during the civil war, leading to a Northern victory.
Firstly, Massive industrialization in the North meant factories were being built across all states,
this explosion of expansion really set the base for how far ahead the North would get from the
confederacy. By 1860, 90 percent of the nation s manufacturing output came from northern states
(B. Arrington, nps). The Union would also get all of their firearms and clothing necessary for
their war effort from these factories. In the South, things were very much the opposite. Slave
trade was at an all time high, the amount of farms and plantations growing cash crops were also
at a high point. There was too much money to be made when it came to cash crops and labor
from buying slaves for cheap. This meant all of their focus would be on growing as much crops as
possible. Leading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the north, aid was given to railroad companies such as free land grants, and the government
buying railroad corporation stocks. This started to connect major manufacturing cities with major
coastal trade ports. Leading to produced goods being transported and traded at a much faster rate
than before. The military found the amount of railroads during the civil war useful, as it allowed
Union soldiers to travel at great speed through the country. In the Confederacy, travel for troops
was much slower than their counterpart. Only one tenth of Southerners lived in urban areas and
transportation between cities was difficult, except by water . (civilwar.org) This lack of railroads
did not help when food, and other products had to be moved across the

The soldiers fired on the crowd killing five and injuring many more. The soldiers were arrested on
criminal charges and would be given a fair trial while Samuel Adams and his Sons of
Liberty group protest that these soldiers be hung for their killing of innocent protesters and the
withdraw of British soldiers from Boston. Captain Preston and his men seek the aid of a lawyer
who will try their case. Every lawyer, not wanting their reputations to be diminished, because
they would be siding with the British soldiers, they enlist the help of John Adams. Who is a
stout supporter for the law, justice, and innocence, he accepts the case; even though he and his
family may become endangered. The trial began on October 24, 1770. Going into the trial
Adams realized that it would be an uphill battle, faced with a Bostonian jury and the threats and
badgering against anyone who would be a witness. Adams has to convince the jury that Captain
Preston did not order his men to fire, and were attacked by the crowd, while also proving that the
crowd was a mob rather than a lawful assembly. From an eye witness that was standing next to the
Captain proclaims that he did not tell his soldiers to fire. More witness confirm that the crowd was
carrying clubs and sticks, while throwing oyster shells, snowballs, and rocks at the soldiers. The
most alarming find was that some witnesses confess that the crowd was daring the soldiers to fire.

The Strategy Of Environmental Treaty Making
Professor of natural resource economics at Columbia University, Scott Barrett, is responsible for
producing Environment statecraft: The strategy of environmental treaty making , a book that in his
words, develops a theory of how states can cooperate in protecting their shared environmental
resources and should utilised to analyse the successfulness of agreements and treaties. What sets
this text apart is not his presentation of newly founded information, but rather the craftful piecing
together of what Barret labels disparate ideas of economic/game theoretic approaches to
international cooperation and to combine and package them in a coherent fashion (p.358). This is
not to suggest that Barrett did not include his unique findings however. Barrett persistently brought
to light seemingly original examinations into specific factors influencing poor successful examples
of cooperation. This approach results in an extensively scoping survey that highlights the dominant
themes in a fashion that allows the information to be accessible and feasibly consumable to any
audience willing to follow the core models and is also analytically robust. Notably Barrett put an
intensive focus, not only on theory but on how the theory was could be applied in practice. Barrett
does this as international cooperation in theory should provide an approach for the conduct of
policy , and practitioners need to think deeply about these problems (p 358). The combination of
the ideas and themes

The Reign Of Nazi Germany
The reign of Nazi Germany was arguably the most horrific eras the world has ever seen. Led by
German chancellor, Adolf Hitler, the Holocaust annihilated six million European Jews because he
felt that Jews were inferior, to the racially superior German s. (1) The word Holocaust originates
from Greek, meaning sacrifice by fire. (2) The rise of the Nazi empire, though, did not happen over
night.
The beginning of the Nazi reign meant the ending of the Weimar Republic, which was a
democracy that was put into place at the end of World War One. On January 30, 1933. Adolf Hitler
was appointed as the chancellor of Germany. Once he gained his power, the Third Reich took
Germany by force, and stripped its occupants of many basic freedoms. Within the first month, the
Nazis added a new policy of coordination which aligned people and organizations with Nazis
philosophies by taking control of the laws, culture, education, churches, and the economy. The main
way the Reich spread its ideals was propaganda. (3)
In August of 1934, once to Paul von Hindenburg, the President of Germany, died, Hitler took post
and claimed the presidency. Hitler was the Reich Chancellor, Reich President, and Fuehrer. This
meant that Hitler was the head of state, the head of the government, and the head of the Nazi party.
By way of Germany s domestic legislation and foreign policies, Hitler set out to eliminate those
who are racially inferior. (3)
The goal of the Holocaust was not only to eradicate

Malvolio and the Way he is Treated in William...
Malvolio and the Way he is Treated in William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night
Malvolio is an extremely complicated and difficult character to study because of his mixed,
complex personality. At times in the play he seems very reliable and loyal but sometimes he seems
foolish and weak, and in many scenes in the play the audience are encouraged to laugh at him, his
actions or his words. He is not portrayed as a lovable character, which makes the play funnier.
Also, the way that Malvolio seems humourless actually makes him humorous. Just Malvolio s
name can give you some idea of his personality, it means in Latin evil wishing!
Malvolio s first appearance is in Act I Scene 5. His humourless ... Show more content on

So, from being rude and offensive earlier on in the scene to Feste, he is now obedient and loyal.
Malvolio could, at this point, be called two faced. His personality changes depending on whom he
is interacting with.
Act II Scene 2 consists of a conversation between Malvolio and Viola/Cesario. Malvolio seems
very proud and pleased to be telling Viola/Cesario that Olivia does not want him to bring messages
from Orsino any more. Of course he does not realise that the implications of this message are
actually the complete opposite! He says:
And one thing more, that you never be so hardy to
come again in his affairs, unless it be to report your
lord s taking of this. (Lines 8 10)
Malvolio is then rude and selfish to Viola/Cesario because he obviously feels that he is more
important than him. Instead of handing Viola/Cesario the ring, he throws it onto the floor.
In the next scene, Act II Scene 3 Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are drinking, they persuade Feste to
sing for them but Maria is wary and warns them of the trouble they could be in. Malvolio is sent
down by Olivia to stop their unruly behaviour. Of course, Malvolio takes this opportunity to scold
all of them and be generally impolite to them:
Have you no wit, manners, nor honesty, but to gabble
like tinkers at this time of night? (Lines 83 84)

Homelessness Of The United States Essay

Homelessness in America
On a single night in January 2015, there were 564,708 people experiencing homelessness in the
United States. Sixty nine percent of those who were homeless were in sheltered locations and 31
percent were found in unsheltered locations (Facts). People living in poverty are most likely have a
high risk becoming homeless. Many other reasons why becoming homeless is due to economic
conditions such as unemployment and increasing housing costs (Why). In addition, with all the
new economic rules they are at higher risk of losing what they have already. In certain areas,
homeless people are families, single mothers, and children are a major issue in homelessness.
However, the number of homeless is families who has children had increased more over the past
decade or so. It is the fastest growing division of the homeless population. The problem of
homelessness in America is growing drastically. It is an issue that can strike at anyone in each
moment and least expect when the situation occurs. Therefore, this should be addressed as a major
crisis than an inconvenient issue. The National Alliance to End Homelessness and the Government
should come together to create a solution to end all homelessness around America for once and for
all.
As homelessness describes back in 1640s homelessness was seen as a moral of weakness, a
character flaw (America). If someone found one self in the 1600s homeless they had

VARK is a questionnaire of about 16 questions that provides people with their preference of
learning style. The learning styles that VARK offers can help people develop additional and
effective strategies for learning and for making your communication skills better. The styles that
this questionnaire determines are Visual, Aural, Read/Write, Kinesthetic, or you can be multimodal
which means you have a multiple learningpreference. In this paper I will summarize the results
received after taking the questionnaire and the other learning styles. After taking the questionnaire it

means is you have multiple preferences. Majority of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last learning style that VARK offers is read/write learning style. You prefer to write things
down and receive handouts on new material. The library is a preferred area of study, and choice
when gathering information on a topic.
After completing the VARK questionnaire this author feels that the results were pretty accurate.
She feels that she learns best when applying areas of study to real life experience and to personal
experiences. She also finds herself writing many things down, high lighting, and drawing out things
when trying to remember something. This author took another survey on another website to see
what the preferred learning style showed. After completion it showed this author is a visual and
tactile/kinesthetic learner, which matched the VARK results.
In the future there are a few things this author needs to work on to improve her study habits.
Although this writer has in the past used the learning styles previously mentioned, she may have
not been using them correctly. Why highlighting can help to pinpoint the main idea or important
information, there is a thing as highlighting too much. This author needs to be able to determine
what is pertinent and when something is not as important. In the past she has highlighted too much
information, and perhaps has highlighted the same information twice. Also note taking so be
minimized, and not writing everything down, which she has done in the past.

Limitations Of Body Weight Exercise
Bodyweight training has been a popular form of exercise for decades, especially when it comes
to group exercise classes and workout videos. It can certainly be an effective form of exercise, but
bodyweight training programs are often designed without really considering the many different
types of people who perform the workouts. Bodyweight exercises are typically assumed to be
appropriate for everyone, but that is not exactly true.
Since bodyweight exercises do not use external resistance (weights, bands, etc.), people usually do
not think about them having a numerical difficulty or weight value. As a result, bodyweight
exercises are thought of as essentially being one size fits all with a person s weight being the
correct amount for the exercise. There is a major flaw with this way of thinking, because
bodyweight exercises do have weight just like any other form of resistance training. The difference
is that instead of holding or supporting an external weight, the resistance of each exercise is
determined by a percentage of your bodyweight.
Therefore, each exercise does have a numerical resistance/weight value, even though you will not
know the exact amount when performing the exercise. The important thing to realize is every
bodyweight exercise puts a specific amount of stress on your muscles and as with every other type
of exercise, the difficulty of bodyweight exercises should appropriately match your ability level
and your goals. If the difficulty of the exercise is not

Witch Hunts In The 19th Century
From the 1480s to early 1800s, mass hysteria erupted throughout the European continent. These
cases of witches and demonic possession, along with minor events of hysteria that ran rapid

Most witch hunts were started during backdrops of social, economical, or religious change. The

Rhetorical Analysis Of King Agamemnon
In the midst of the Trojan war, King Agamemnon is distraught after his loss of Chryseis. As a form
of compensation, Agamemnon demands that Achilles forfeit his war prize: Briseis, princess of
Lyrnessus. Unhappy with this course of action, Achilles withdraws from the war. Generals, trusted
advisors, soldiers, and healers under King Agamemnons rule deliver deliberate speeches and debate
as to if and why Agamemnon should keep or return Briseisto Achillesfor his return. Speaker 1, who
spoke in favor of Agamemnon keeping Briseis, incorporates all three rhetorical appeals and adopts
a commanding tone of voice in order to persuade the soldiers to continue battling despite the loss of
Achilles. In contrast, Speaker 14, who was opposed to Agamemnon keeping Briseis, explores
pathos and demonstrates the effectiveness of repetition while directly addressing Agamemnon.
To begin with, in pursuance of persuading her audience of soldiers to allow King Agamemnon to
keep his stolen war prize Briseis, Speaker 1 capitalizes on the three rhetorical appeals: logos,
pathos, and ethos. The most effective appeal for her, given her audience, was ethos. First, she
had to establish herself as a credible source for the sake of convincing the soldiers why her
reasoning was valid. Who better to speak about the King then his trusted advisor, who not only
worked with him throughout his ruling, but who also worked with his father before him and
watched him grow up to be the man he is today. With the audience of soldiers in mind, they are
more likely to listen to the reasoning of a person in power, who has proven themselves to be
knowledgeable and can testify on behalf of a person, both personally and professionally.
Soldiers are trained to follow the commands of someone in charge and if the trusted advisor says
that they are capable of allowing the King to keep Briseis and in turn continue to fight the war
and win without Achilles, then it can be done. Using ethos gives the speaker a platform to be
heard from. Similarly, the speaker s commanding tone of voice helped to deliver an effective
speech. It would have been futile to have established herself as this person with great power had her
deliverance not matched the substance of the

recounts the life of those bathing in wealth and the consequences of prosperity. Fitzgerald describes
the world of an extremely prosperous family and the horrid habits that are entailed. The author
enumerates how an exceptional avidity towards fortune alters the Washington family s life and
leads to their defeat. Overall, this novella includes various themes revolving around greed that
ultimately lead to the family s destruction, that are well developed by literary techniques such as
personification, imagery, and characterization. Throughout The Diamond As Big As The Ritz, the
author analyzes the strength of the Washingtons material possessions. In pursuance of his
argument regarding the dominance of wealth, Fitzgerald utilizes personification. At the beginning,
the protagonist John T. Unger, feels inferior within the house. John T. Unger is an upper class
teenager from Hades who befriends a wealthy kid at his school named Percy Washington (3).
After a few conversations, Percy decides to invite John to visit his estate. The narrator declares,
his chair, feathered, and curved insidiously to his back, seemed to engulf and overpower him as he
drank his first glass of port (19). Not only is the family themselves powerful but their property that
they purchase becomes

International And International Students At Universities
All over most college campuses there is a group of students that commonly get over looked; the
international students. International students make up a good majority of a lot of college
campuses. Statistics have shown that 1,000,000 international students are enrolled at universities in
the United States of America (Migration Policy Institute). I chose to observe a group of
international students at universities, because this is a topic that is of interest to me. Since
international students are so common at universities, they play a big part in our society. It does
seem that possibly at times, international students can get overlooked because at many universities
they are in the minority. Even though there are many differences between non international and
international students, we all share one purpose; to get an education at a universityin the United
Statesof America. If an international studentis at a university in America, in most cases you can
assume they are there for a purpose. For international students, they are in a complete different
country than their family. Most students would not do that, unless they have a purpose in doing it.
Most international students come to the states to get better quality education, so they can have a
future with better opportunities. People s view on international students, in most cases would
completely depend on the person. It seems that most people have some level of respect for them
considering the sacrifices that they make

The Passion And Oppression Of The Scaffold In Nathaniel...
The Passion and Oppression of the Scaffold A motif is a recurring subject, theme, idea, etc.,
especially in a literary, artistic,or musical work. A scaffold is an elevated platform on which a
criminal is executed that was used in the olden days as a site of public shaming. It was, in short, the
platform of the pillory...punishment to do. (Chapter 2). The scaffold scenes in the Scarlet Letter
seem to be the most significant motifs in the novel. First off, the dominant symbol, scarlet letter A,
and all of the main characters, Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Pearl, and Roger
Chillingworth, are present at each scaffold scene. The location of the scenes in the text also
provides a relevance to the novel: the first scene is in the first third... Show more content on

Dimmesdale is on the verge of dying at any moment, but he does not want to die without letting
out the truth. He tries to confess his sin in a sermon, but it just makes the townspeople love him
more. Finally he resorts to revealing his scarlet letter A chest to the public and calling upon
Hester and Pearl to stand with him on the scaffold, Hester, said he, Come hither! Come, my little
Pearl! . Dimmesdale is so weak, dim, and fragile that he requests help from Hester to carry him
up to the scaffold. Chillingworth is still a psychotic fiend, but he can no longer wish any harm
upon Dimmesdale because his life has basically hit rock bottom, sick, dying, unforgiven sinner,
and lier for years. Therefore, without any more purpose in life, Chillingworth ultimately ends up
withering and dying. In this scene, as in the other two scaffold scenes, all of the main characters
are present, and the key symbols of the scarlet letter, the scaffold, the symbol of Church and State,

Case Study on Nucor Corp
Case 2: Nucor Corporation: Competing Against Low cost Steel Imports
The Company, Nucor Corporation, started its operation in nuclear instrument and electronics
business in early 1950s to early 1960s. Facing bankruptcy, the board of directors opted for a new
leadership and appointed Kenneth Iverson as president and CEO. He concluded that to be able to
avert bankruptcy is to exit the nuclear instrument and electronics business and rebuild the company
around its subsidiary, Vulcraft, which is engaged in steeljoist business. After its integration, it has
expanded its operation in steelmaking seeing opportunities on newly emerging technology to

These strategies have been very effective in terms of expanding its resources as well as
conceptualization of new technology (using electric arc furnace as alternative to conventional
furnace) and improvement of plant efficiency thru equipment upgrades. The usage of the
technology has allowed low investment cost for facilities and equipment that eliminated
expensive steps in steel making. Also the use of scrap materials has lessened the purchase of ore
for steel making. Furthermore, joint ventures have given them option to join global market of
steel producers. However, Nucor should be also wary on possible entrants that could offer low
cost steel which might be a reason for a loss of customers which in turn loose potential income and
worst cut jobs.
Steel, being a commodity that is dictated by market demand, has been changing continually. But
being a low cost provider, it has resulted to numerous customers entering into non cancellable
contracts.
Organization and Management in Nucor had a simple and streamlined structure to allow
employees to innovate and make quick decisions. The company was highly decentralized with
most day to day operating decisions made by division or plant level managers and their staff. When

Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
Crooked Relationships
Why are women so controlling in everything? In William Shakespeare s Macbeth and Emily Bronte
s Wuthering Heights, the women take control, over men, in the relationship. Sexism and jealousy
are the two biggest problems in an existing relationship. The readers find out how ambition, sexism,
and jealousy takes over lives. In other words, too much ambition may be fatal.
When women don t get what they want, bad things are subject to happen. Women will always rule
in the face of the earth until none are left. Lady Macbeth rules the relationship over Macbeth
himself. She wanted her husband, Macbeth, to kill Duncan, but he wasn t going for it at all. Lady

Actually, men do a lot more for their lady than anyone else. However, for Lady Macbeth, that s
not enough for her taste. Lady Macbeth quotes, Come to woman s breasts/ And take my milk for
gall, you murd ring ministers (Thomas 85). She wants the evil spirits to come and give her a mind
like a man, so she can do the things that her husband, Macbeth, won t do.
Just like how ambition took over on Macbeth, it took over his wife, Lady Macbeth, too. The
readers of Macbeth know how too much ambition can go two ways. In Lady Macbeth s situation,
ambition has become very bad for him. Thomas quotes, The unsex me here passage... Lady
Macbeth s invocation parallels the witches earlier ones. Through her positioning and dress, she
becomes essentially a fourth witch (Thomas 85). Thomas says that she becomes a witch because
she was secretly a part of the desperate murder of Duncan.
When two people love each other, the relationship is usually going to last. When only one person
is loving someone, it can be frustrating for not receiving the amount of love you re putting out.
Isabella was feeling frustrated because she was not being loved. Galef quotes, Evincing a sudden

at Catherine because Heathcliff doesn t love her.

The Media’s Negative Influence on Society
The Media s Negative Influence on Society There is a lot of controversy about how the media
affects people, but in my opinion I think the influence we get is more negative than positive. The
media is one of the things that impact people the most because in today s society it is impossible
to ignore. It influences the ways in which we dress, speak, act and think. Media is fed to us
through movies, television, radio, social media, music, and magazines. I believe mass mediais
pressuring the way womanand girls want to look, twists reality, and is sexist towards woman
without people even realizing. I think the most dominant affect the media has is on young women.

A teenager s main source of information about sex comes from what they pick up in the media.
In television shows, music videos and video games, dressing skimpy, hooking up, and casual sex
is totally normal. The problem is that there is rarely any mention of protection or STDs. This
makes people in real life forget about those things, which leads to unexpected pregnancies and
the spread of STDs. After the media demands you to be thin, it also wants you to be provocative
and sexual, which I think is completely unrealistic. The media expresses an image, behavior,
and lifestyle that are unrealistic for many people. ANAD says that the perfect body portrayed in

Investigating The Concentration Of A Hydrochloric Acid A...
The objective of the lab was to prepare standardize solution (titrant: NaOH) of sodium hydroxide,
and to determine the concentration of a hydrochloric acid and KHP solution using acid‐base
titration. Standardization is the process of determining the exact concentration (molarity) of a
solution. The molarity (M) of a solution is used to represent the amount of moles of solute per liter
of the solution. Titrationis one type of procedure often used in standardization process. A titration is
a technique where a solution of known concentration is used to determine the concentration of an
unknown solution.
In a titration, an exact volume of one substance(NaOH) was reacted with a known amount of
another substance (HCl). The point at which the reaction was complete in a titration is referred to
as the endpoint. We recognized a solution which reached the endpoint: when we saw a solution
completely turned into pink color. A chemical substance known as an indicator was used to indicate
the endpoint. An indicator is a substance that undergoes a distinct observable change (pink color)
when conditions in its solution change. The indicator we used in this experiment was
phenolphthalein because Phenolphthalein is a weak acid. The weak acid is colourless and its ion is
bright pink. And the solution turned pink when we added a basic solution (NaOH) into the solution
because adding hydroxide ions removes the hydrogen ions from the equilibrium which replace them

wood. Now, if you don t know how to collect wood, basically you walk up to a tree and hold down

You must keep digging to find diamonds (this might take quite some time) . Once you find
diamonds, you will need to craft a diamond pickaxe. This is absolutely necessary because you
cannot mine obsidian with any other pickaxe.
You might now be thinking What s obsidian? . Obsidian is what you need to build the portal.
Now you will need to find or create this substance. To create it, you can pour water on top of lava
with a bucket, and to find it you will have to look near lava. You will need about 12 of these. The
shape of the portal is going to be a rectangle, standing up. On the bottom you will need 4, and then
put 3 blocks on the bottom left and right blocks, then two in between those two at the top.
The portal is not complete, though. You will need flint and steel. To craft this you need flint and
iron. To acquire flint you will need to dig gravel, which is found underground and in caves. After
crafting this, go to your portal and press the left trigger to light it. It should be purple inside of the
rectangle, which means that it worked. To go inside you just have to stand there until you appear in
the Nether. So obviously that means it worked. You have successfully created a nether

remained a tradition and a privilege to make their own homes. It was as if someone could feel the

The Palette Of King Narmer
The Palette of King Narmer Stretching across ten countries and spanning over four thousand
miles, the Nile River became the heart of Egyptian civilization. The lower (northern) Nile
overflowed its banks several months out of the year before the creation of the Aswan High Dam
in 1970. When the floodwaters receded, they left a new layer of rich silt behind, making the
surrounding valley and delta a fertile and desirable habitat. As early as 8000 BCE, the people
who inhabited the valley of the world s longest river became relatively sedentary and in 5000 BCE
they adopted the agricultural village life commonly associated with Neolithic culture. Throughout
the Predynastic period, the North African climate was immensely dry. In order to combat this
problem, many villages formed alliances that worked to control the river s flow. Over time, these
small federations of villages conquered and absorbed other weaker ones. As communities grew into
chiefdoms, they began to advance rapidly toward refined civilization shortly after 3600 BCE. Egypt
became a consolidated state at the beginning the Early Dynastic Period in 3000 BCE. According
to legend, following creation, Upper Egypt in the south and Lower Egypt in the north were both
unified under Menes. Originally a powerful ruler from Upper Egypt, Menes conquered Lower
Egypt and became the first ruler to preside over a unified Egypt. The Palette of Narmer was created

I think that both articles use emotive language very well, and that they are equally good at getting
there point across through using language.
Both of the articles feature one long, main interview and one shorter interview towards the end of
the article. The interviews have been included in each case to give the reader an account of the
events in the article from one of the people involved. This is a good idea as people who were
actually involved in the events of the article will be able to give more information on what actually
happened, and will probably know things that no one else does. Having interviews also makes the
reader sympathise with the people involved, especially if it is coming from one of the people
mentioned in the main first paragraph of the article. The people who put together the articles must
make sure that everything they include in the interviews is relevant and that they are not too long. I
think that the article that uses interviews and quotes better is probably Inches from tragedy,
because all the information given is relevant to and informative about what happened. I also think
this because the interviews featured are not too long and leave room in the article for other
information.
Having a picture in an article is a good idea, because it lets the reader see exactly who was
involved and let them see what effect the events of the article have had on them

music. My argument is this: Anybody should be allowed to use any samples they want, but must

Future of Ideas, Lawrence Lessig puts forth a similar proposal to the one I advocate for, in
regards to downloading music files instead of sampling. Lessig states, Congress should empower
file sharing by recognizing a similar system of compulsory licenses. These fees should not be set
by an industry intent on killing this new mode of distribution. They should be set, as they have
always been set by a policy maker keen on striking a balance. (Lessig 255). For Lessig the altering
of copyrightis a matter of principle, one which he corners as uniquely American and even
constitutional. [I]t is about the fundamental values that define this society and whether we will
allow those values to change. Are we, in a digital age, to be a free society? (Lessig 11). Another
section reveals an even deeper, almost heartfelt pleading, in which he defines the true reasons for
the war between those for and against changes to copyright law.
It is about the values of balance and measure that should limit the government s role in choosing the
future of creativity. It is about the opportunity for creators to build on the past. It is about limiting
the control that legal structures such as copyright give to

Maltese Falcon Essay
Dashiell Hammett s The Maltese Falcon is one of the most influence fiction novels to the
current literature world and also the current society. The novel was published in 1930s when the
society was experiencing the depressing period, which people used this book as an escape for
the reality; the story was designed to happen in San Francisco where the city was used to be
considered as a popular and mystery urban city. This book became huge hit to the society based
on its mystery detective plots and the attractive characters, which set up the ideal of certain
characters and also the hard boiled style. The main character of The Maltese Falcon, Sam Spade,
who is mainly involved in the judgment of taking moral judgments by the readers based on his
behavior or even his personality. Although readers are using the novel as an escape for the reality,

Even though Sam was doing his job, however, while the ideal audiences enjoyed this scene as
they were connected themselves to Sam who has the power over women, they were also
justified what Sam was doing. A woman being naked in front of men was already one judgment
that audiences would faced, needless to say by using job as an excuse to satisfy personal desire,
the audiences were again facing the situation that they have to balance the enjoyment and moral
judgments. In the novel, Sam Spade was playing a character who are surrounding by women.
Iva Archer who was the wife of Miles Archer, however, Iva was actually madly in love with Sam
and he was also accepting Iva s love. Having an affair with your partner s wife seems nothing to
Sam, he didn t feel sorry or ashamed about his decision. In the moral sense of the society, cheating
is unforgettable, this gave Sam a negative image and which also invited the audiences to justify his
attitude toward Iva as an

Urban Condition Research Paper
Urbanism demonstrates the cultural and material aspects of urban and city living. An urban
condition is basically a city plan. The space and community play a valuable role in the creative
process of designing an urban condition. Designing the spaces between the buildings is just as
important and designing the building itself. In the following essay, I will discuss the main critical
elements necessary to design a spatially rich urban condition.
To begin, public space assists in the creation of a memorable urban condition. Public space is what
makes any city different from any other. You may either have a very dense or spacious city .
However, the matter how you position your public space will change the perspective of others.
A public space can be the main entrance into the city or it can also, be in the center of a city. The
public space is defined by its surroundings, depending on the facade of the building and the shape
of it. A public space is supposed to represent the main space in an urban condition. A public space
can transition from a street to a void, it all depends on the shape of your urban city. A public space
should be the final step in the design process of creating a building. For the reason that, a public ...

A threshold, that represent a transition from the edge of the city to the main city. The threshold
should represent a transition that allows you to go through the edge of the city. The edge of the
city should define a difference between what is outside and what is inside the city. If the edge
of the city is a skyline your threshold would most likely be represented by a bridge over water or
an underwater bridge. An example of this is going from New Jersey to New York, since the river
is in between, the only way to get there is through bridges. In picture 4 you can see how the edge
of the city is defined by the buildings and how the entrance to the city is only through a

The War Room Analysis
D. A. Pennebaker s The War Room is a film about the figures behind the scenes of a political
campaign. Given a subject that historically lends itself to drama and narrative tension, Pennebaker
makes active choices in filming and editing to find the story within the story. The film becomes a
sort of meta art: a media narrative about the people responsible for controlling media narratives.
Pennebaker approaches the film as an appreciation of fellow craftsmen, giving credit to James
Carvilleand George Stephanopoulostactical brilliance. Through the use of carefully thought out
editing, intentional camerawork, and intimate access, The War Roomlays bare the hidden layers of
communication present within the campaign.
The War Room is about communication, and the editing choices help to weave together the often
invisible lines of contact present in politics. In one instance, Pennebaker films both sides of a
telephone conversation between Carville and Stephanopoulos. While the clips may not even come
from the same conversation, the evidentiary editing immediately opens up the world of the movie.
The audience no longer cares solely about the room in front of them, but is also curious about the
important action in other conference rooms, happening just a phone call away. Pennebaker also
highlights the contrast between the public and private spheres of communication. In particular,
there s a political need to project a certain cohesiveness, regardless of internal discord. The War
Room depicts many meetings where the strategists are bogged down in minutiae, debating word
choice and the colors of rally signs. Pennebaker artfully contrasts these scenes with the final media
output. When the film cuts to the end of the rally, the audience sees the balloons fall in conjunction
with Fleetwood Mac, Bill s face on a giant monitor, and a crowd full of coordinated signs.
Presented by itself, the rally feels seamless and natural; the crowd has an organic and infectious
enthusiasm. The inclusion of the tedious conference room discussions shows the intentionality
behind the rally. The crowd shots, normally the public focus, begin to feel impersonal and fade into
the background. The audience cares more about how the rally will affect

  • 2. Romeo Passionate Romeo Montague is characterized by his passion and his tendency to make rash decisions. Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare provides examples of these two of Romeo s qualities, and, ultimately, they are what define him as a tragic hero. From the beginning of the play, it is evident that Romeo is a passionate person. In Act I, Romeo is in a depressive state due to him falling in love with a woman named Rosaline. Romeo goes on a tirade about how he is somber due to love and how love can destroy a person. He is feeling rejected due to the fact that Rosaline does not love him back (1.1 L. 164 176). Romeo is infatuated with this woman. The play doesn t directly tell much about her, only that it is said she is very beautiful and has sworn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On North And South Industrialization The North and the South had many differences, the most important dissimilarity was their level of industrialization. The North prioritized industry and railroads, while the South remained mostly agricultural. Northern production, transportation networks, and economy drastically out performed the South during the civil war, leading to a Northern victory. Firstly, Massive industrialization in the North meant factories were being built across all states, this explosion of expansion really set the base for how far ahead the North would get from the confederacy. By 1860, 90 percent of the nation s manufacturing output came from northern states (B. Arrington, nps). The Union would also get all of their firearms and clothing necessary for their war effort from these factories. In the South, things were very much the opposite. Slave trade was at an all time high, the amount of farms and plantations growing cash crops were also at a high point. There was too much money to be made when it came to cash crops and labor from buying slaves for cheap. This meant all of their focus would be on growing as much crops as possible. Leading to ... The soldiers were arrested on criminal charges and would be given a fair trial while Samuel Adams and his Sons of Liberty group protest that these soldiers be hung for their killing of innocent protesters and the withdraw of British soldiers from Boston. Captain Preston and his men seek the aid of a lawyer who will try their case. Every lawyer, not wanting their reputations to be diminished, because they would be siding with the British soldiers, they enlist the help of John Adams. Who is a stout supporter for the law, justice, and innocence, he accepts the case; even though he and his family may become endangered. The trial began on October 24, 1770. Going into the trial Adams realized that it would be an uphill battle, faced with a Bostonian jury and the threats and badgering against anyone who would be a witness. Adams has to convince the jury that Captain Preston did not order his men to fire, and were attacked by the crowd, while also proving that the crowd was a mob rather than a lawful assembly. From an eye witness that was standing next to the Captain proclaims that he did not tell his soldiers to fire. More witness confirm that the crowd was carrying clubs and sticks, while throwing oyster shells, snowballs, and rocks at the soldiers. The most alarming find was that some witnesses confess that the crowd was daring the soldiers to fire. Through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Strategy Of Environmental Treaty Making Professor of natural resource economics at Columbia University, Scott Barrett, is responsible for producing Environment statecraft: The strategy of environmental treaty making , a book that in his words, develops a theory of how states can cooperate in protecting their shared environmental resources and should utilised to analyse the successfulness of agreements and treaties. What sets this text apart is not his presentation of newly founded information, but rather the craftful piecing together of what Barret labels disparate ideas of economic/game theoretic approaches to international cooperation and to combine and package them in a coherent fashion (p.358). This is not to suggest that Barrett did not include his unique findings however. Barrett persistently brought to light seemingly original examinations into specific factors influencing poor successful examples of cooperation. This approach results in an extensively scoping survey that highlights the dominant themes in a fashion that allows the information to be accessible and feasibly consumable to any audience willing to follow the core models and is also analytically robust. Notably Barrett put an intensive focus, not only on theory but on how the theory was could be applied in practice. Barrett does this as international cooperation in theory should provide an approach for the conduct of policy , and practitioners need to think deeply about these problems (p 358). The combination of the ideas and themes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Led by German chancellor, Adolf Hitler, the Holocaust annihilated six million European Jews because he felt that Jews were inferior, to the racially superior German s. (1) The word Holocaust originates from Greek, meaning sacrifice by fire. (2) The rise of the Nazi empire, though, did not happen over night. The beginning of the Nazi reign meant the ending of the Weimar Republic, which was a democracy that was put into place at the end of World War One. On January 30, 1933. Adolf Hitler was appointed as the chancellor of Germany. Once he gained his power, the Third Reich took Germany by force, and stripped its occupants of many basic freedoms. Within the first month, the Nazis added a new policy of coordination which aligned people and organizations with Nazis philosophies by taking control of the laws, culture, education, churches, and the economy. The main way the Reich spread its ideals was propaganda. (3) In August of 1934, once to Paul von Hindenburg, the President of Germany, died, Hitler took post and claimed the presidency. Hitler was the Reich Chancellor, Reich President, and Fuehrer. This meant that Hitler was the head of state, the head of the government, and the head of the Nazi party. Malvolio and the Way he is Treated in William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night Malvolio is an extremely complicated and difficult character to study because of his mixed, complex personality. At times in the play he seems very reliable and loyal but sometimes he seems foolish and weak, and in many scenes in the play the audience are encouraged to laugh at him, his actions or his words. He is not portrayed as a lovable character, which makes the play funnier. Also, the way that Malvolio seems humourless actually makes him humorous. His personality changes depending on whom he is interacting with. Act II Scene 2 consists of a conversation between Malvolio and Viola/Cesario. Malvolio seems very proud and pleased to be telling Viola/Cesario that Olivia does not want him to bring messages from Orsino any more. Of course he does not realise that the implications of this message are actually the complete opposite! He says: And one thing more, that you never be so hardy to come again in his affairs, unless it be to report your lord s taking of this. (Lines 8 10) Malvolio is then rude and selfish to Viola/Cesario because he obviously feels that he is more important than him. Instead of handing Viola/Cesario the ring, he throws it onto the floor. In the next scene, Act II Scene 3 Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are drinking, they persuade Feste to sing for them but Maria is wary and warns them of the trouble they could be in. Malvolio is sent down by Olivia to stop their unruly behaviour. Of course, Malvolio takes this opportunity to scold all of them and be generally impolite to them: Have you no wit, manners, nor honesty, but to gabble like tinkers at this time of night? • 12. Limitations Of Body Weight Exercise Bodyweight training has been a popular form of exercise for decades, especially when it comes to group exercise classes and workout videos. It can certainly be an effective form of exercise, but bodyweight training programs are often designed without really considering the many different types of people who perform the workouts. Bodyweight exercises are typically assumed to be appropriate for everyone, but that is not exactly true. Since bodyweight exercises do not use external resistance (weights, bands, etc.), people usually do not think about them having a numerical difficulty or weight value. As a result, bodyweight exercises are thought of as essentially being one size fits all with a person s weight being the correct amount for the exercise. There is a major flaw with this way of thinking, because bodyweight exercises do have weight just like any other form of resistance training. The difference is that instead of holding or supporting an external weight, the resistance of each exercise is determined by a percentage of your bodyweight. Therefore, each exercise does have a numerical resistance/weight value, even though you will not know the exact amount when performing the exercise. The important thing to realize is every bodyweight exercise puts a specific amount of stress on your muscles and as with every other type of exercise, the difficulty of bodyweight exercises should appropriately match your ability level and your goals. If the difficulty of the exercise is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Rhetorical Analysis Of King Agamemnon In the midst of the Trojan war, King Agamemnon is distraught after his loss of Chryseis. As a form of compensation, Agamemnon demands that Achilles forfeit his war prize: Briseis, princess of Lyrnessus. Unhappy with this course of action, Achilles withdraws from the war. Generals, trusted advisors, soldiers, and healers under King Agamemnons rule deliver deliberate speeches and debate as to if and why Agamemnon should keep or return Briseisto Achillesfor his return. Speaker 1, who spoke in favor of Agamemnon keeping Briseis, incorporates all three rhetorical appeals and adopts a commanding tone of voice in order to persuade the soldiers to continue battling despite the loss of Achilles. In contrast, Speaker 14, who was opposed to Agamemnon keeping Briseis, explores pathos and demonstrates the effectiveness of repetition while directly addressing Agamemnon. To begin with, in pursuance of persuading her audience of soldiers to allow King Agamemnon to keep his stolen war prize Briseis, Speaker 1 capitalizes on the three rhetorical appeals: logos, pathos, and ethos. The most effective appeal for her, given her audience, was ethos. First, she had to establish herself as a credible source for the sake of convincing the soldiers why her reasoning was valid. Who better to speak about the King then his trusted advisor, who not only worked with him throughout his ruling, but who also worked with his father before him and watched him grow up to be the man he is today. With the audience of soldiers in mind, they are more likely to listen to the reasoning of a person in power, who has proven themselves to be knowledgeable and can testify on behalf of a person, both personally and professionally. Soldiers are trained to follow the commands of someone in charge and if the trusted advisor says that they are capable of allowing the King to keep Briseis and in turn continue to fight the war and win without Achilles, then it can be done. Using ethos gives the speaker a platform to be heard from. Similarly, the speaker s commanding tone of voice helped to deliver an effective speech. It would have been futile to have established herself as this person with great power had her deliverance not matched the substance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author enumerates how an exceptional avidity towards fortune alters the Washington family s life and leads to their defeat. Overall, this novella includes various themes revolving around greed that ultimately lead to the family s destruction, that are well developed by literary techniques such as personification, imagery, and characterization. Throughout The Diamond As Big As The Ritz, the author analyzes the strength of the Washingtons material possessions. • 23. International And International Students At Universities All over most college campuses there is a group of students that commonly get over looked; the international students. International students make up a good majority of a lot of college campuses. Statistics have shown that 1,000,000 international students are enrolled at universities in the United States of America (Migration Policy Institute). I chose to observe a group of international students at universities, because this is a topic that is of interest to me. Since international students are so common at universities, they play a big part in our society. It does seem that possibly at times, international students can get overlooked because at many universities they are in the minority. Even though there are many differences between non international and international students, we all share one purpose; to get an education at a universityin the United Statesof America. If an international studentis at a university in America, in most cases you can assume they are there for a purpose. For international students, they are in a complete different country than their family. Most students would not do that, unless they have a purpose in doing it. Most international students come to the states to get better quality education, so they can have a future with better opportunities. People s view on international students, in most cases would completely depend on the person. It seems that most people have some level of respect for them considering the sacrifices that they make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Passion and Oppression of the Scaffold A motif is a recurring subject, theme, idea, etc., especially in a literary, artistic,or musical work. A scaffold is an elevated platform on which a criminal is executed that was used in the olden days as a site of public shaming. It was, in short, the platform of the pillory...punishment to do. (Chapter 2). The scaffold scenes in the Scarlet Letter seem to be the most significant motifs in the novel. First off, the dominant symbol, scarlet letter A, and all of the main characters, Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Pearl, and Roger Chillingworth, are present at each scaffold scene. Dimmesdale is so weak, dim, and fragile that he requests help from Hester to carry him up to the scaffold. Chillingworth is still a psychotic fiend, but he can no longer wish any harm upon Dimmesdale because his life has basically hit rock bottom, sick, dying, unforgiven sinner, and lier for years. Therefore, without any more purpose in life, Chillingworth ultimately ends up withering and dying. Also the use of scrap materials has lessened the purchase of ore for steel making. Furthermore, joint ventures have given them option to join global market of steel producers. The objective of the lab was to prepare standardize solution (titrant: NaOH) of sodium hydroxide, and to determine the concentration of a hydrochloric acid and KHP solution using acid‐base titration. Standardization is the process of determining the exact concentration (molarity) of a solution. The molarity (M) of a solution is used to represent the amount of moles of solute per liter of the solution. Titrationis one type of procedure often used in standardization process. A titration is a technique where a solution of known concentration is used to determine the concentration of an unknown solution. In a titration, an exact volume of one substance(NaOH) was reacted with a known amount of another substance (HCl). The point at which the reaction was complete in a titration is referred to as the endpoint. We recognized a solution which reached the endpoint: when we saw a solution completely turned into pink color. A chemical substance known as an indicator was used to indicate the endpoint. An indicator is a substance that undergoes a distinct observable change (pink color) when conditions in its solution change. The indicator we used in this experiment was phenolphthalein because Phenolphthalein is a weak acid. The weak acid is colourless and its ion is bright pink. And the solution turned pink when we added a basic solution (NaOH) into the solution because adding hydroxide ions removes the hydrogen ions from the equilibrium which replace them turning the indicator ... • 34. The Palette Of King Narmer The Palette of King Narmer Stretching across ten countries and spanning over four thousand miles, the Nile River became the heart of Egyptian civilization. The lower (northern) Nile overflowed its banks several months out of the year before the creation of the Aswan High Dam in 1970. When the floodwaters receded, they left a new layer of rich silt behind, making the surrounding valley and delta a fertile and desirable habitat. As early as 8000 BCE, the people who inhabited the valley of the world s longest river became relatively sedentary and in 5000 BCE they adopted the agricultural village life commonly associated with Neolithic culture. Throughout the Predynastic period, the North African climate was immensely dry. In order to combat this problem, many villages formed alliances that worked to control the river s flow. Over time, these small federations of villages conquered and absorbed other weaker ones. My argument is this: Anybody should be allowed to use any samples they want, but must give credit and a portion of the profits made from the work to the sampled musicians. In The Future of Ideas, Lawrence Lessig puts forth a similar proposal to the one I advocate for, in regards to downloading music files instead of sampling. Lessig states, Congress should empower file sharing by recognizing a similar system of compulsory licenses. These fees should not be set by an industry intent on killing this new mode of distribution. They should be set, as they have always been set by a policy maker keen on striking a balance. Even though Sam was doing his job, however, while the ideal audiences enjoyed this scene as they were connected themselves to Sam who has the power over women, they were also justified what Sam was doing. A woman being naked in front of men was already one judgment that audiences would faced, needless to say by using job as an excuse to satisfy personal desire, the audiences were again facing the situation that they have to balance the enjoyment and moral judgments. In the novel, Sam Spade was playing a character who are surrounding by women. • 44. Urban Condition Research Paper Urbanism demonstrates the cultural and material aspects of urban and city living. An urban condition is basically a city plan. The space and community play a valuable role in the creative process of designing an urban condition. Designing the spaces between the buildings is just as important and designing the building itself. In the following essay, I will discuss the main critical elements necessary to design a spatially rich urban condition. To begin, public space assists in the creation of a memorable urban condition. Public space is what makes any city different from any other. You may either have a very dense or spacious city . However, the matter how you position your public space will change the perspective of others. A public space can be the main entrance into the city or it can also, be in the center of a city. The public space is defined by its surroundings, depending on the facade of the building and the shape of it. A public space is supposed to represent the main space in an urban condition. A public space can transition from a street to a void, it all depends on the shape of your urban city. A public space should be the final step in the design process of creating a building. For the reason that, a public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A threshold, that represent a transition from the edge of the city to the main city. The threshold should represent a transition that allows you to go through the edge of the city. The edge of the city should define a difference between what is outside and what is inside the city. If the edge of the city is a skyline your threshold would most likely be represented by a bridge over water or an underwater bridge. In picture 4 you can see how the edge of the city is defined by the buildings and how the entrance to the city is only through a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The War Room Analysis D. A. Pennebaker s The War Room is a film about the figures behind the scenes of a political campaign. Given a subject that historically lends itself to drama and narrative tension, Pennebaker makes active choices in filming and editing to find the story within the story. The film becomes a sort of meta art: a media narrative about the people responsible for controlling media narratives. Pennebaker approaches the film as an appreciation of fellow craftsmen, giving credit to James Carvilleand George Stephanopoulostactical brilliance. Through the use of carefully thought out editing, intentional camerawork, and intimate access, The War Roomlays bare the hidden layers of communication present within the campaign. The War Room is about communication, and the editing choices help to weave together the often invisible lines of contact present in politics. In one instance, Pennebaker films both sides of a telephone conversation between Carville and Stephanopoulos. While the clips may not even come from the same conversation, the evidentiary editing immediately opens up the world of the movie. The audience no longer cares solely about the room in front of them, but is also curious about the important action in other conference rooms, happening just a phone call away. Pennebaker also highlights the contrast between the public and private spheres of communication. In particular, there s a political need to project a certain cohesiveness, regardless of internal discord. The War Room depicts many meetings where the strategists are bogged down in minutiae, debating word choice and the colors of rally signs. Pennebaker artfully contrasts these scenes with the final media output. When the film cuts to the end of the rally, the audience sees the balloons fall in conjunction with Fleetwood Mac, Bill s face on a giant monitor, and a crowd full of coordinated signs. Presented by itself, the rally feels seamless and natural; the crowd has an organic and infectious enthusiasm. The inclusion of the tedious conference room discussions shows the intentionality behind the rally. The crowd shots, normally the public focus, begin to feel impersonal and fade into the background. The audience cares more about how the rally will affect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
