Enemy At The Gates
Enemy at the Gates is a war film which the title is taken from William Craig s 1973 nonfiction book
Enemy at the Gates: The Battle for Stalingrad, which describes the events surrounding the Battle of
Stalingrad in the winter of 1942 until 1943. While fictional, the film is loosely based on war stories

The Struggle For Equality And Rights During The Civil War
American history was radically changed when President Abraham Lincoln gave the very famous
Emancipation Proclamation. This lead to the freedom of millions of African Americans who sought
the same liberty and equality that was promised to everyone under the United States constitution.
These liberties, of course, were not achieved right away. During the Reconstruction era, which is the
decade right after the Civil War, many of the recently freed slaves did not have money, property, or
credit. They could not buy the necessary things to enjoy their freedom, which lead to sharecropping, a
glorified form of slavery. Sharecropping is a system of agriculture in which a landowner lets a tenant
use the land in return for a share of the crops produced on their portion of land (Sharecropping)..
Added on to this, facilities were segregated to prevent the black man from enjoying the same things as
the white man due to Jim Crow laws which were enacted after the Reconstruction era. The struggle for
equality and rights continued during the Gilded Age (1873 1900), the Progressive Era (1900 1920s),
the Great Depression (1930s), WWII (1939 1945), the beginning of the Cold War (1947), up until the
Civil Rights movement (1954 1968). At this point in history, African Americans fought for their rights
and changed the course of American history. Music was a very important tool used by African
Americans that helped achieve this. Ever since the slavery times, music was a big part of their culture

Should the death penalty be brought back in the United Kingdom?
The topic I have chosen to argue about is whether the death penalty id a good thing or bad thing to
bring back to Britain, Throughout the Assessment I will be mostly focusing on the question on
whether the death penalty should be brought back. To start off the essay will on the history of Capital
Punishment and why the death penalty was stopped in the first place, after it will show the wrongly

There was a movie made about the case and event called let him Ave it, Chris . Many people who were
religious say Capital punishment was a sign of evil, cruelty and no one deserves to be put to death.
When something changes in our life time it does make a difference in our lives, the death penalty will
change our way of living; criminals will need to be smart and think twice. I personally think that if
someone should be convicted for any crime to be put to death, the crime should for murders, abuse
and for any rapes to harm another person for life. I believe that the death penalty should be back but
not used a lot or limited so Britain can lower any wrongly convicted and get the proper punishment for
murderers who have killed. The death penalty is a cruel ting I agree with that but not for murders they
deserve it no questions needed even though the victim of any murder could of had an even horrible
death than the murderer who could be convicted of murder. This will act as a major deterrent, it will
stop criminals killing to get a better life in jail than their

Arthur Miller s Influence On Society
Arthur Miller and the Influences he Faced Arthur Miller was a twentieth century playwright. During
the time Miller was writing these plays and during his childhood, he was going through a hard time.
As a young man, he was directly affected by the Wall Street Crash of 1929, The Great Depression and
the fear of communism that spread after the second World War. By living through all of these events,
his work was greatly influenced by them and took what he had learned in his life and turned them into
successful plays. In his time, he wrote about everyday people with everyday problems. In his works of
Death of a Salesman, The Crucible and All My Sons, the common theme of lies and deceit are present.

The play revolves around the information about faulty machine parts that John Keller withheld. Not
only is this a lie that caused the death of twenty one pilots, but it also affects all the people in his life.
In one specific instance, Joe is talking to George, who is his business partner s son. Keller: There are
certain men in the world who rather see everybody hung before they ll take blame. You understand
me, George? (Miller, All My Sons 48). This quote is important because it seems as if Joe is talking
about himself. Joe let Steve take the blame for selling the defective engine parts, which in turn
completely ruins the Deever family. Miller provides a common theme of lies and deceit to show the
great consequences that have to be faced in life. It shows that lying is one of the worst things a man

Exotic pets
Exotic pets are a certain type of unique pets which are of wild species that are kept in households as
pets. They consist of amphibians, reptiles and rodents. These are usually indigenous to the locale in
which they are brought up.
Therefore their character traits are not similar to those of other domesticated animals. Examples of
exotic animals include bears, alligators, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, garter snakes, octopuses,
kangaroos, zebras, skunks and savannah monitors. In many countries all over the world, human beings
live together with these animals and these people end up having personal relationships with these
exotic animals.

Senate Bill 332 And Emergency Management
Senate Bill 332 was filed on February 1, 2013 during the 83rd Texas legislature. This bill was written
by Senator Jose Rodriquez of the Democratic Party. The bill pertains to the commissioner s court
oversight of certain emergency services in certain districts (Highlights 652). Bill 332 was set to take
affect September 1, 2013. The reason I chose this bill was because of my school major. I am working
toward a degree in Emergency Management and more specifically Emergency Administration and

In short this means that in order for a district to use public funds for the purpose of bettering a
property or maintaining a facility, the district must first approve it through the board of the
commissioner s court. This is done to provide better oversight within the district and hold the district
accountable to its financial position before the district send public money generated by tax payers. As
part of the approval process, the district must submit a report on the districts compliance. In this report
they must include the maximum dollar amount that will be used to fund activities of improvement
within that district as well as proposed labor costs. The district must keep copies of any transactions
throughout the process and also submit those documents to the commissioner court. Under this bill the
district holds the right to lease property for no more than 50 years, with the understanding that the
development would generate income for that district (UNT database). Although in order to pay for
expenses of construction and/or maintaining a facility, the district may not borrow funds for any other

Barbarians In The Odyssey
Last but definitely not least, Polyphemos from the Odyssey is by far at the tip of that barbarians scale.
In the beginning passage about Polyphemus, he is presented as quite gentle with his heard of sheep
while milking them, this give no indication to him being uncivilized and violent (Homer, pg. 143). But
as the story progress, the audience can sense that he is less and less similar to their ideal of a Greek
citizens. Polyphemus expressed that the Cyclopes do not concern themselves with Zeus since they are
far better than the gods, this means he does not adhere to the same religious system as the Greeks do
(Homer, pg. 144). Not only that, Polyphemus does not adhere to the Greek custom of giving gifts and

The Gender Trap

The Gender Trap
Book Review
California State University, Bakersfield
Kristen Gibson
October 14, 2015
Gender issues have recently hit the surface pretty hard and has made life changing impacts, nationally.
Some political topics have been on same sex marriage and restrooms for transgendered students. The
nation is divided in regards to gender issues. The recent awareness has forced the government to step
in and back up laws that are for and against these issues. Analyzing our lives on a daily basis seems
easy, but after reading The Gender Trap: Parents and Pitfalls of Raising Boys and Girls by Emily
Kane, I didn t realize how much I actually gender my children and how it could affect them in the
future. Interviews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her interviews are of 42 people with different races, social economic backgrounds, homosexuals and
heterosexuals of children. As Kane begins her book, she goes in depth of the study and what she
proposes with her findings. First, she takes a stand that gender is a social term and not biological as I
have always looked at it. Gender and power also are found to be related as agreed with Kimmel s
textbook, The Gendered Society. He mentions only white people in our society have the luxury not to
think about race every minute of their lives. And only men have the luxury to pretend that gender does
not matter. She is able to grasp a stand from her interviews and is able to explain how females are
socially excluded by the way the parents treat them and how this has led to a larger social problem
with gender discrimination that includes wage gap and even domestic violence. Males have seemed to
benefit from the power that has been given to them by society who engages in the marginalization of
women. Now, it seems males are heavily burdened when it comes to the talk about gender differences.
Chapter 1 includes the pre birth stage of gendering children. After I told my family we were having a
female they threw me a surprise baby shower that included everything pink, so before she was even
born she was given a gender. All the parents were able to say what gender they preferred for their
child and why. The reasoning behind the gender preference can be very exciting and

Electric Vehicles Used Power From Galvanic Cells Or Batteries
With the invention of the first electric car in 1837 by chemist Robert Davidson of Aberdeen, there was
the hope for cleaner transport system. The electric vehicle used power from galvanic cells or batteries.
He later in 1841 advanced to a seven ton vehicle that used two direct reluctant motors. The two motors
had more energy than galvanic cells. The electric vehicle would move at a speed of four miles per
hour. Electric vehicles were very common in 18th and 19th century. Most people found them
convenient, they as they met most of the environmental requirements in the world. The first electric
vehicle was innovated as a result of high prices of petrol. Electricity was one of the preferred method
for propulsion of electric vehicle. Gasoline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major cause of their ballooning demand in the market is their efficiency and environmental health.
The vehicles do not emit pollutant gases. Like the use of the sun, the use of electricity has not been
associated to any malicious products. This factors has caused the global demand for the cars rise
uncontrollably. Unlike the fuel engine vehicles engine, the electric is less labor intensive. The vehicles
also have low maintenance cost as compared to internal combustion engine vehicles. At the same time,
the source of energy, the electricity, has become the easiest form of energy generation by many states
in the world. Therefore, electric vehicles do not have energy dependency on imported fuels. Electrical
energy can be obtained from solar, wind and even nuclear. With many governments showing great
efforts in increasing the power generated into the national grid, the possibility for running on absolute
electricity vehicles has hit the market.
However, the move has come with a limiting factor: charging stations. With the fact that the car
battery may last for a while before demanding recharge, there are no efforts by the governments of the
businesses to invest in the sector. The charging systems are overwhelmed by the high demand by
electrical vehicle owners (Johnstone, Hascic, Development., 2011). Despite that the demand for the
vehicles is

to the development of the American economy based on changes to agriculture, commerce, and

an outside source in order to reduce the cost of that service or product. By taking advantage of this
process, the economy of the United States saw an increase as production prices decreased. Second,
during Laissez faire economics, the government allows an industry to be free of state interventions.
This kept industries free from government tariffs or monopolies,

1. WHO was involved?
The two groups involved in this historical issue were factory workers and business owners. Business
owners who had selfish ideals and didn t care about the safety of their employees because they were
clouded by greed.
2. WHAT happened?
During this time factory workers faced harsh working conditions and had low paying wages. They

This is when the US started overflowing with new urban cities, where factories were built. New
technologies and machines were introduced during this time, which made the US the ideal trading
partner. This drastic advancement led to overproduction but most importantly it caused the blood and
tears of deprived factory workers.
· SLIDE 3: Causation
8. Why did it happen?
I believe that this event happened because of the ideology, Laissez Fare. This ideology supported the
privacy and liberty to all business owners. In other words the government was not actively involved in
the way these owners ran their factories and they were most definitely not concerned with how factory
workers were treated. Instead government officials ignored the problems within these factories and
showed zero importance towards workers well being. There did not exist any laws or rules that limited
business owners authorities of their factories.
9. How did the context/events of the time period lead to this event?
The need for advancing and introducing mass production is what enabled such event to occur. Without
this need, factories probably wouldn t have been created and business owners wouldn t have reasons

A civilization is an society with highly developed culture and technology. Civilizations have distinct
characteristics, but historians do not all agree on which characteristics are the most important. Some
important characteristics are stable food supply, organized government, cities, social
class/structures,art/technology and etc. These are all important, but in my opinion the three most
important characteristics of an civilization are organized government, stable food supply, and
art/technology.
One of the most important characteristics is organized government because it does more than all the
other characteristics. One reason,is because The government would order these, although costly,to aid
and benefit the community. (Eight features of civilization)The meaning of this quote means that the
government did help out the city with problems. Another reason,is because the government helps the

An Ode To The User-Friendly Pencil
Old school conquers new school: A personal response to An Ode to the User Friendly Pencil
Technology is upgrading itself and is, perhaps, taking over the world. From virtual reality to
supercomputers, people are depending more on technology in their everyday lives, but is it necessary?
Technology has reached the point where Samsung phones are becoming C4 explosives and 4K
televisions do not display 4K quality. In An Ode to the User Friendly Pencil by Bonnie Laing, she
explains how a simple pencil that we use in our everyday lives is better than a complex computer that
is technologically advanced, and through her ironic tone and economic line of reasoning, she gets that
message across to her readers which I firmly agree on. In her essay, she utilizes irony to add a
sarcastic tone in her essay, making the essay more enjoyable for readers to read. An example of this is
the use of computer jargon to explain why the pencil is the better tool. Laing states how the software
of a pencil is both cheap and simple (332) and how you can render it ... Show more content on

An example of that is how she fought and wrestled with [her] microchips (Laing, 332), which is an
example of personification. As we all know, a computer does not have human traits nor can it wrestle
with the user like WWE; however, Laing is explaining how it gets more complicated the more you use
a computer, and I agree with that. A computer is not smart; instead, it is the exact opposite. This is
because without a user, a computer is just a sitting duck without the proper programming. It needs to
be programmed to perform certain tasks or it needs a user to give it something to do in order to be
useful, which is what software engineers do for a living. From taking computer science, I can tell you
it is not an easy task, but rather, a hardworking one since we wrestle with the OS rather than the

Examples Of Diversity In Higher Education
DeMya T. Wimberly HED59060 Diversity In Higher Ed Dr. Gore I would like to open by identifying
leadership theories that fit me the best. Honestly I believe all three fit me and I will begin with a brief
backstory to explain why. Prior to coming to the University of Toledo I spent 17.5 years working for
the Lucas County Juvenile Court specifically at the Lucas County Youth Treatment Center where our
charge was to save the taxpayers of Lucas money by lowering the amount of youth who were
committed to the Department of Youth Services in Columbus (Juvenile Prison). Our program focused
on arming offending youth with the skills to re orient safely back into the Lucas County Community.

pivotal in ultimately helping the youth assigned to our unit. We accomplished this by having weekly
Wednesday team meetings were staff, the Therapist assigned to our unit and myself as a team
reviewed the cases of the residents up for review usually 4 each week, discussed phase movements,
the unit dynamics overall and instituted individual or unit wide interventions if needed. As the unit
Supervisor I regularly met with staff at least once every other week, performed annual performance
evals, and checked on their well being often. This was a stressful field and I wanted them to know that
they, their input and contribution mattered. I continuously gave staff feedback, encouragement and
even at times appropriate disciplinary action. I often received compliments from our Administrator
about how smoothly our unit ran and how it seemed to run itself. This was due to my belief of training
staff to do my job or to become Shift Leader/Supervisors and I never felt threatened and I was very
open with my staff about theirs and my goals for them

Intergalactic Background Checks
Why we will never accept Intergalactic Background Checks
It never fails, whenever there is a serious crisis involving guns, the Socialist Left wastes no time in
trotting out their favourite hobby horse of Background Checks Intergalactic and otherwise.
So why do they obsess over this issue that won t solve the problem anyway? Why is this so important
to them and a danger to our civil rights? This will be an examination of the underlying elements of this
issue and why gun owners will never accept government control over their private property.

maintains the constraints on the government. If the people hold these controls, the government ...

The best they can offer is the much abused commerce clause and even that falls short given that refers
to commerce between the states, not between neighbours and friends.
This is a very important, but rarely discussed issue that goes to the central tenets of liberty.
Our civil rights are based upon the control of private property. In fact one could argue that it s not
even private property if it s under government edict. While some would like to cite the adage that
possession is nine tenths of the law the reality is that ownership is vested in the entity that controls an
item s storage, use and transference. If the government controls those parameters it is the true owner
of that property with the people being it s temporary possessors.
There are those desirous of control who want people to think that firearms as somehow different than
other items of property, simply because those items are a constraint over governmental power. While
lorries and other motorised vehicles can be deadly, they don t serve as a constraint on tyranny so they
are no concern of the Left. The plain fact is that firearms aren t any different than other types of
property. As it is with the government, the slippery slope will see them try to control other types of
property if it can get people to accept it with firearms.

The Importance Of Agent Learning
Given an MDP, the total reward in future may be computed as R = r1 + r2 + .... rn
But, future rewards are uncertain and needs to be discounted to ascertain their present value as:
R = rt+1 + rt+2 + ... rt+n = rt + ɣ *rt+1 + .... + ɣ(n t) *rn, where discount factor ɣ is in the range of [0,
1]
The agent learning is primarily based on maximizing discounted value of all future rewards.
Owing to the uncertainty in future, estimation of this value for agent learning is not easy. A popular
approach is to use Q learning which is described next. ii. Q learning
Q learning works by letting the agent to choose an action in a given state by following a particular
behaviour policy. In choosing a subsequent state, the agent evaluates alternate actions through ... Show

estimations right. A proven effective way to make these estimations is the use of neural network. The
milestone in this regard was the use of Deep Q network by Deepmind for the
AlphaGo win. Before enumerating their work, it would be good to dissect the scale of the problem to
appreciate the need for Q learning. In the game, Deepmind captured last 4 screens of the game from
the computer monitor, resized to 84 x 84 pixels and converted to
256 gray levels. This leads to 25684 x 84 x 256 = approx. 1067970 combinations or possible game
states that outnumber the number of atoms in the universe. It is highly likely that this data when stored
is highly sparse and many of the states may never be visited. Above all, it might take ages to converge
and we would definitely want to have a finding during our good times!
This motivates the use of deep learning for Q learning, popularly known as Deep Qlearning.
This model free reinforcement learning approach involves executing several MDPs to learn the best
policy. It involves making state transitions to maximize future returns and discounting them to present

postmodern theatre. Such as Verbatim Theatre, Documentary Theatre, Autobiographical Theatre, and
how Stanislavskian theatre is often ignored but is the starting point for these other styles. Is there a
style of theatre, or a practitioner that does not use any aspect of everyday life in their approach to

In the theatre the actor and the audience both know that the actor is not who she is playing...the matter
is, of course, nicely complicated because in some methods of realistic acting, actors are taught how to
use their own selves to construct theatrical roles . (Schechner, 2002, P. 177). Stanislavski and his
approach to theatre taught the actors to consume the realities of their everyday lives and embark on an
emotional journey to devise their characters for performance. This technique feeds from the
practicalities of everyday life; Verbatim theatre is a form of documentary theatre which is based on the

Firstly, a company is a separate legal entity[5]. Therefore, the debt of the company is separated from
its directors and shareholders. In addition, the money borrowed will be recorded under the name of the

playing an important role in providing funds to assist company to manage its cashflow and

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ad By Kenneth Fearing
In the satirical poem, Ad (1938), author Kenneth Fearing, founding editor of Partisan Review, asserts
that people mindlessly accept the practices of war and suggests people are too willing to join war
without the idea of consequence. Fearing s poem is stylized as an advertisement for soldiers to fight in
World War 2, however, the heavy satirical tone makes it clear this advertisement is for gore and not for
glory. Fearing uses diction, style, and imagery to reveal his theme of anti war. The diction is placed
strategically, showing the true means of war and bloodshed, the style containing strong italicization
and capitalizations, and using imagery to give the audience a true look into just how real war is.

The very first lines of the poem read Wanted: Men; Millions of men are wanted at once in a big new
field: New, tremendous, thrilling, great. (896). The italicization on the wanted at once show how these

forced. Either enter into the forces or suffer great shame from all around. Fearing also italicized the
words new, tremendous, thrilling, great to suggest that these are all words that are antonyms for war.
Old, terrifying, chilling, awful. Those are the words that should be used to describe war. Furthermore,
Fearing also uses italics to add emphasis, for example when Fearing states take a permanent job in the

job done. It packs a punch, and as the final line of the poem indicates the reader the inevitable result

Often regarded as the birthplace of movie studios, the earliest (and seemingly most affluent) film

First cultivated by studios such as these were silent black and white films, with each major production

The Traits of Mark Anthony
Mark Antony has been portrayed as a loyal friend, a hero, an adulterer, and a drug addict. That
represents a wide range of attributes for a single man to inherit. Did Mark Antony really possess all of
these traits? Mark Antony was a much simpler man than his portrayal. Mark Antony embodied a
stereotypical jock. Brutus stated Antony s propensity to sports, to wildness and much company
(II.i.196). Mark Antony participated in the race of Lupercal, an equestrian race in which athletes
participated during a Roman festival. Wildness could have alluded to Antony s gambling habits, and
much company could reference Antony s inability to confine himself to one woman (II.i.196). In spite
of Antony s faithlessness toward his wife, he held extreme loyalty to Caesar. Antony became very
emotional about the death of Caesar. He strove to create the illusion of friendship with Caesar s
murderers in order to make them feel comfortable; Antony wanted them to let their guard down so it
would be easier to help Caesar s spirit, which was ranging for revenge (III.i.285). He spoke to them as
if he sympathized with their cause and strived to make them feel comfortable. However, they fled the
city while he conveyed his speech to the plebeians at Caesar s funeral. Antony exhibited popularity in
Rome, so the plebeians respected his opinion. The funeral speech convinced the plebeians of his cause
and allowed him to set his plan in motion. After the funeral, he did everything

The Final Episode Of Breaking Bad Known As Face Off
The case study I have chosen is the final episode of season 4 of Breaking Bad Known as Face Off.
The name is in reference to what happens later in the episode. Through this essay I will attempt to
analyse the episode using theories that have been developed by Propp, Todorov and Levi Strauss.
I will attempt a full break down of the show later, but for now I will do a quick summary of the show
just to bring everyone up to speed before hand. A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with
inoperable cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine, with his former student, in
order to secure his family s financial future (IMBb, 2008:Online). The Genre for this particular series
is Crime Drama but it has aspects of a thriller series thrown in as well. This helps with view ability of
the series as it keeps viewers on edge. We mobilise our genre knowledge routinely to order our media

certain traits that belongs to certain types of characters. There are 8 character roles in Propp s theory

Analysis of Capital Market Efificiency and the Efficient...
Capital market efficiency is concerned with assessing the movements of security prices over different
time horizons. In this paper, I will briefly discuss capital market efficiency and then finish with an
extensive discussion of the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), which is a leading theory in
explaining some of the major reasons for fluctuations in security prices. From this perspective, we will
examine the three forms of efficiency, supporting and opposing arguments of the EMH, alternative
theories, and potential modifications to the model.

views about how financial markets react. Others contend that the ... Show more content on

The answers to these questions are the building blocks of the EMH.
The Efficient Market Hypothesis
The EMH is a theory developed by Eugene Fama. The main premise of the theory is that, at any
moment, financial securities reflect all available information. The market implication for this belief is
that it s almost impossible to beat the market, based on information alone. In a paper titled, Stock
Market Price Behavior, Fama asserts that security prices are an accurate reflection of all available
information. He also labels markets that reflect all available information as efficient. In addition to the
labeling of financial markets as efficient, Fama also puts forth different degrees of efficiency.
Three forms of efficiency
The efficient market hypothesis exists in three forms, weak, semi strong, and strong form. The first
form is considered weak because it assumes the stock s price is a reflection of its historical relevance,
which includes accounting data (financial statements) and other publicly available information. At this
level, such information is considered immaterial in causing the price of a stock to change. The second
form is semi strong, and it s concerned with market adjustments. In other words, how do the markets
react to all available information? At this level, all accessible information is assumed be reflected in
the stock s price, which can range from historical to future oriented information made available
through public

was less advantageous to Tony than Natasha s offer . Natasha s offer and acceptance concluded before
Nick s. Termination of an offer via revocation can occur if an offer is withdrawn any time prior to
acceptance. Whilst Tony did not personally communicate the withdrawal of his offer to Nick when he
agreed to sell the artefact to Natasha, there is not a requirement that revocation is communicated
personally by Tony to Nick. It could be likely viewed that Nick s knowledge that Natasha had
purchased the artefact could be considered communication of withdrawal of Tony s offer. A
conditional offer with an option can become binding if the offeree gives consideration for the promise,
however in this case this does not apply as Nick did not give anything to Tony in return for his
promise. Sufficient consideration occurred (promise of money in exchange for the artefact)
representing quid pro quo. Intention to create legal relations existed due to the commercial setting (as

Alexander s Exploration Of The English Reformations
Alexander begins his exploration of the English Reformations by addressing that the conversion of
England from Catholicism to Protestantism was not a nice transition and does not have set beginnings
and endings. He questions how long it took for the protestants to finally have success and also if the
method of negation of coercion was more effective. Alexander then addresses the questions if the
Protestant reformations occurred from the top down, origination with the leadership, or bottom up,
originating from the peasants in society. He also addresses the change came about through conversion
or coercion.
Alexander references Dickens, another historian, who states that the reformation was gradual
conversion because the Catholic church had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was able to figure out that as time progressed there were fewer and fewer people identified as
Catholic and those who did tended to hide it so it was not very apparent. Alexander also took into
account that the scribes who recorded the will could be bias and concluded that many scribes skewed
what they wrote in accordance with their own personal religious beliefs. Alexander bring up many
other problems with using will to track the reformation such as the fact that there was often a certain
formula that many used to write their wills which could have skewed the results as well as that many
times wills didn t accurately represent the person and probably aren t a very good source to gauge how
quickly the population England reformed.
Overall Alexander dismisses wills as being used as the sole gauge for the course of the reformation nut
reaffirms that they still hold some value. HE says that historians would not put so much emphasis on
wills and maybe search for other documents as an in depth analysis on these dead people could cause
confusion and false

The Help Historical Accuracy
Mid Term Research Paper History in the Movies The Help should be considered very historically
inaccurate in its depiction of the setting, characters, and events of the segregated South in the 1960 s.
The Help seems to look past the true violence and discrimination that black men and women faced
during the time period, and shines light on the prominent southern belles, who in actuality, were not
always as kind to their black maids as they were depicted to be in the movie, (MacNicol 2011). The
Help displays several flaws in their portrayal of 1960 s Mississippi, and depicts the very tense subject
that is discrimination as a so called feel good movie. While still exploring and giving viewers an
insight on the racial tensions in the early 1960 s, The Help does not accurately depict the problems
that were faced by black citizens in the South. The first of many historically inaccurate details in The
Help is the setting. The Help is set to take place in Jackson, Mississippi during the 1960 s. Mississippi
is still known for it s southern values, a detail that is very evident throughout the entire movie. In ...

The writers looked past the opportunity of potentially displaying accurate events that could have taken
place during this time period in the South to instead focus more on subtle racist encounters. Instead of
focusing on the horrid events that occurred in Southern society, such as lynchings, violent racial hate
groups, and many other racially charged hate crimes, The Help instead focuses more on the bright side
of things ,with only peaks into the racial problems that black citizens faced daily. During the 1960 s in
Mississippi, the Freedom Movement was also happening. The Help does not mention any historical
events that took place during the time period, and instead mainly focuses on the lives of Southern

The Revision Of The Wedding
For the revision of The Wedding, I used the rubic and the instructor s critiques. I changed the opening
into an attention getter suggested by the instructor. I also chose the perspective of the main character
to add more depth to the poem. I took the dramatic tension and gave more life to that so I could tie it
into the character s perspective. I changed the ending to make it more effective for this poem using the
thirteen ways of looking at revision. For the revision of The Bra, I used the suggestions of my peers.
Several suggestions came up about the title so I changed it to Support from My Bra. I had a misspelled
word that I had to change (stares). The metal piece in the bra was removed, because it confused the

I looked at examples of other writers and the different styles of poetry. I changed the rhythm of this
poem to make it flow easier. I used the guidelines from thirteen ways of looking at revisions. Now the
poem has a solid, rhythmic pattern. For the revision of Dear Father, I used the instructor s critiques. I
added more lines to the poem to make my voice more expressive and relatable to my life. I removed a
few lines so the poem could have a specific tone and rhythm for the reader. I looked at the poetry
website we had to use for a quiz. I was able to read various poems to get a feel of flow. After reading
different poems, I felt more confident in the route I was going with my revision. The readings from
assignments were very helpful in understanding how to write and the different styles that can be used.
I enjoyed the assigned readings, poems, and short stories, because it gave you a whole different view
of writing styles you may have not otherwise been exposed to. I was able to apply all of this to my
revisions. Although the quizzes were challenging, they pulled out of me thoughts and ideas I didn t
know I had in me. It was challenging at first, but eventually I caught on and gave more effort. So I can
say the quizzes helped me to push the envelope for my revisions. I developed my passion for the art of
writing again after reading my

Parallelism In Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia...
The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life.
Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he
discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech,
Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there
is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention,
he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to
unify and reciprocate.
Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention
the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing
positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned;
we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the
sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we
have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and
supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to
take action. He continues to underline

Criminals Do not Obey Gun Control Laws
In America, the average amount of people shot per year is 100,000; over ten thousand defenseless
people are murdered. The Second Amendment s proclamation that A well regulated Militia, being
necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be
infringed has been an extensive topic of debate. Moreover, the amendment has been one of many
debates over the several years throughout America. The discussion of gun control is often debated as
to whether or not it is morally right to legally bypass the Second Amendment to avoid unlawful uses
of arms. The Second Amendment allows citizens to carry firearms specifically for protection, gun
control hinders that right and places civilians lives in danger. In short, the U.S. government s intrusive
restrictions on gun laws prevent law abiding citizens from defending themselves with firearms.
The effects of gun control should abide with the Second Amendment. Although true, the Second
Amendment is not an unlimited right to own guns. Notwithstanding, the Second Amendment allows
the freedom to bear arms. The Second Amendment has never been interpreted as giving only states the
right to peaceably assemble. Moreover, the Court did not address whether the Second Amendment
applies to state and local governments. Even though the government chose to limit the rights of the
people, the Second

Advertisement Techniques Used In Michael Jordan s Coke...
Advertisements are used and can be located almost everywhere. Advertisements are found in
magazines, television, and also the internet. Advertisements are commonly used to draw the attention
of consumers and persuade them to buy and use their product or get them to do an act supported by
that company. Advertisements also have a targeted audience as well. Certain groups will buy certain
products so companies will attempt to push their product at the consumer who is interested in their
product. For example Michael Jordan s Coke advertisement Can t Beat the Real Thing. Contained
many examples of advertisement techniques like testimonial, transfer, and image. This ad has
appeared in the 1991 issue of the Times magazine. The company uses

  • 3. The Struggle For Equality And Rights During The Civil War American history was radically changed when President Abraham Lincoln gave the very famous Emancipation Proclamation. This lead to the freedom of millions of African Americans who sought the same liberty and equality that was promised to everyone under the United States constitution. These liberties, of course, were not achieved right away. During the Reconstruction era, which is the decade right after the Civil War, many of the recently freed slaves did not have money, property, or credit. They could not buy the necessary things to enjoy their freedom, which lead to sharecropping, a glorified form of slavery. Sharecropping is a system of agriculture in which a landowner lets a tenant use the land in return for a share of the crops produced on their portion of land (Sharecropping).. Added on to this, facilities were segregated to prevent the black man from enjoying the same things as the white man due to Jim Crow laws which were enacted after the Reconstruction era. The struggle for equality and rights continued during the Gilded Age (1873 1900), the Progressive Era (1900 1920s), the Great Depression (1930s), WWII (1939 1945), the beginning of the Cold War (1947), up until the Civil Rights movement (1954 1968). I believe that the death penalty should be back but not used a lot or limited so Britain can lower any wrongly convicted and get the proper punishment for murderers who have killed. A computer is not smart; instead, it is the exact opposite. This is because without a user, a computer is just a sitting duck without the proper programming. It needs to be programmed to perform certain tasks or it needs a user to give it something to do in order to be useful, which is what software engineers do for a living. We accomplished this by having weekly Wednesday team meetings were staff, the Therapist assigned to our unit and myself as a team reviewed the cases of the residents up for review usually 4 each week, discussed phase movements, the unit dynamics overall and instituted individual or unit wide interventions if needed. As the unit Supervisor I regularly met with staff at least once every other week, performed annual performance evals, and checked on their well being often. This was a stressful field and I wanted them to know that they, their input and contribution mattered. I continuously gave staff feedback, encouragement and even at times appropriate disciplinary action. I often received compliments from our Administrator about how smoothly our unit ran and how it seemed to run itself. The best they can offer is the much abused commerce clause and even that falls short given that refers to commerce between the states, not between neighbours and friends. This is a very important, but rarely discussed issue that goes to the central tenets of liberty. Our civil rights are based upon the control of private property. In fact one could argue that it s not even private property if it s under government edict. While some would like to cite the adage that possession is nine tenths of the law the reality is that ownership is vested in the entity that controls an item s storage, use and transference. If the government controls those parameters it is the true owner of that property with the people being it s temporary possessors. There are those desirous of control who want people to think that firearms as somehow different than other items of property, simply because those items are a constraint over governmental power. While lorries and other motorised vehicles can be deadly, they don t serve as a constraint on tyranny so they are no concern of the Left. The plain fact is that firearms aren t any different than other types of property. A proven effective way to make these estimations is the use of neural network. The milestone in this regard was the use of Deep Q network by Deepmind for the AlphaGo win. Before enumerating their work, it would be good to dissect the scale of the problem to appreciate the need for Q learning. In the game, Deepmind captured last 4 screens of the game from the computer monitor, resized to 84 x 84 pixels and converted to 256 gray levels. Did Mark Antony really possess all of these traits? Mark Antony was a much simpler man than his portrayal. Mark Antony embodied a stereotypical jock. Brutus stated Antony s propensity to sports, to wildness and much company (II.i.196). Mark Antony participated in the race of Lupercal, an equestrian race in which athletes participated during a Roman festival. Wildness could have alluded to Antony s gambling habits, and much company could reference Antony s inability to confine himself to one woman (II.i.196). In spite of Antony s faithlessness toward his wife, he held extreme loyalty to Caesar. Antony became very emotional about the death of Caesar. He strove to create the illusion of friendship with Caesar s murderers in order to make them feel comfortable; Antony wanted them to let their guard down so it would be easier to help Caesar s spirit, which was ranging for revenge (III.i.285). He spoke to them as if he sympathized with their cause and strived to make them feel comfortable. However, they fled the city while he conveyed his speech to the plebeians at Caesar s funeral. The Help Historical Accuracy Mid Term Research Paper History in the Movies The Help should be considered very historically inaccurate in its depiction of the setting, characters, and events of the segregated South in the 1960 s. The Help seems to look past the true violence and discrimination that black men and women faced during the time period, and shines light on the prominent southern belles, who in actuality, were not always as kind to their black maids as they were depicted to be in the movie, (MacNicol 2011). The Help displays several flaws in their portrayal of 1960 s Mississippi, and depicts the very tense subject that is discrimination as a so called feel good movie.
