- 2. Medical Procedures Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – a procedure that restore heart rhythm and oxygen to the lungs when a person has gone into cardiac arrest. This procedure should be done by two CPR-trained individuals by compressing the chest and breathing in the person’s mouth.
- 3. Medical Procedures Defibrillation - is a defibrillation machine (also called a cardioversion machine) is used when a person is having serious irregular heartbeats to convert heart rhythm. The defibrillation gives electric shocks to the heart when placing the defibrillator paddles on the chest and shocking the person.
- 4. Medical Procedures Extracorporeal Circulation – is a machine that is used during open-heart surgery (also called ECC). It routes the blood to a heat-lung machine so it can oxygenated and be pumped to the body. Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator – this a device that is placed in the heart to give electrical shock to restore the heart to normal rhythm. It is more useful for people who experience ventricular fibrillation. Thrombolytic Therapy – a drug that is used, such as streptokinase (SK) or tissue-type plasminogen activation (tPA) injected in the blood vessel to dissolve thrombus and restore blood flow.

It helps to control the heart rhythm by a series of electrical impulses. The internal device (pacemaker) has the electrodes surgically implanted within the chest wall and the external device (pacemaker) has the electrodes on the outside of the body.
