THE FIVE SENSES. EVALUATION CRITERIA. 
I can associate each sense with an organ. 
I can talk about functions of different organs. 
I can identify different parts of eye and ear . 
I talk briefly about how these parts work. 
I can distinguish 4 flavours and how they activate different taste buds. 
I can distinguish four main flavours. 
I am conscious of handicaps that a person with a visual impairment or a deaf person has 
I can make experiments about how different flavours stimulate different parts of our tongue. 
I can write a list with some rules to take care of different organs. 
I can talk about an aliment (an apple…) attending to different senses ( shape, size, colour, smell and 
taste). 
I can make a report. 
As you know will be working English as scaffolding language and using the four skills. We will focus on 
adjectives, word order, prepositions and writing a repport. 
THE FIVE SENSES. FINAL TASK. 
As you all know, you will be evaluated by means of a final task. 
In this particular unit about the five senses you will make a set of them: 
SIGHT AND EAR. 
I will give you some useful resources (books and web links you can find here: 
http://inthemoodforsugus.blogspot.com.es/2014/11/some-links-for-your-displays.html ) and 
in your groups, you will make a display about the eye and the ear. Then, you will present it to 
the class. 
You will be given a worksheet and according to the information you get from the different 
displays and presentations you are going to prepare a kind of report. You will be assessed by 
means of your display, your oral presentation and your report. 
TASTE AND SMELL.
You will make a couple of experiments and you will be given worksheet where you will note 
down the results of your investigation. You will need to know some adjectives and some basic 
information about taste buds. 
TOUCH. 
Borja will assess this part. 
USING ALL MY SENSES. 
Here you will apply everything you have learnt during these days. You will bring nice apples to 
the class and you will investigate about it using all of our senses: 
How does it feel, hard, smooth, cold,…? 
How does it taste, sweet, salty,…? Which taste buds do you use? 
How does it smell, fresh, rotten, stinky,…? 
When you look at it, is it rount, flat, big,…? 
How does it sound: crunchy, loud,…? 
TAKING CARE OF ORGANS. 
You will make a leaflet with some advices to take care of your organs. You will also include 
information about healthy habits and food.
