We use our teeth and saliva to cut food into pieces, which then travels down the esophagus into the stomach where it mixes with gastric juices. In the small intestine, food further dissolves with pancreatic, liver, and intestinal juices and our body absorbs nutrients into the bloodstream. Remaining waste then moves into the large intestine where water is absorbed before final waste is expelled through the anus.
