MSIG Thailand is introducing a new usage-based motor insurance product called Prakan Kubdee. It uses an OBD II device and telematics to collect driving data like distance, time, speed and location. This data is sent via 5G to MSIG's cloud database to calculate daily premiums based on the driving behavior. Customers can see their daily scorecard and premium in the Prakan Kubdee app. The goal is to provide more affordable motor insurance tailored to individual needs.

During the 1st wave of Covid-19 in Thailand back in April 2020, we observed a significantly
decrease in the use of personal vehicles due to the country’s lock down. Many ideas were
put forward about how we could more effectively address the problems and provide
something useful to our customers for the long term by introducing a usage and behavior-
based motor insurance product designed to provide a cost-effective insurance solution to
the market.
MSIG Thailand hope to provide affordable motor insurance to Thai people. We believe
paying insurance premiums based on how you drive is a more cost-effective, fair, and
sustainable solution compared to the current ever-rising insurance costs that do not really
take into account specific customer needs. More people could be protected and insured
by motor Insurance with essential protection for the car extended to cover all passengers
and drivers.

MSIG Car Informatics
MSIG Car Informatic is an “OBD II
or On-board Diagnostic” that is
capable to read and collect in-
depth driving data beyond
telematics device that is only able
to collect driving distance.
OBD II is a very compact device
that comes with AIS SIM card
ready for data transmission. The
installation is very simple by
plugging it to the OBD port which
is available in most of the vehicles
from 2009 onward.
