is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself". In Jack London
's book The Call of The Wild, out of many themes the most important is adaptation for many
reasons. Buck has adapted mentally and physically, Buck 's original character was changed very
quickly after arriving in the cold Alaskan wilderness. Buck adapted in many ways throughout the
book and this helped him greatly in surviving and becoming the lead sled dog and eventually a giant

Beginning to the Great Alaskan Race
In 1925 a diphtheria epidemic broke out in the small Alaskan town of Nome. With the town at the
risk of death they urgently needed an antiserum. So twenty dogs sled teams relayed the serum from
the town of Nenana to Nome. The hardships of the dogs and mushers went through along with the
hero dogs, and teams of mushers and dogs will forever be alive in Alaskan history.This journey is a
gratifying accomplishment and a proud moment in Alaskan history. There were twenty teams of
dogs varying from seven dogs to twenty–three dogs with a total of over a hundred dogs running
from town to town carrying a life saving serum to the people of Nome. These teams of dogs carried
the antiserum from Nenana to Nome. William Shannon picked up the serum in Nenana from the
steam train that had brought it from Anchorage. As the first team to handle the serum they took off

In the book, Race Across Alaska, by Libby Riddles, Libby is an up and coming musher who has no
sponsor and no money. However, she takes her love of adventure and the sport to the Iditarod and

to Alaska from Wisconsin when she was 16 with her brother and decided to become a professional

I did not like the book The Call Of The Wild because in the first two or three chapters after buck
gets adopted by Francois the book repeats itself over and over again. Also every time something that
should kill Buck, he breaks through and lives with minor inguries. I liked the book because Buck

White Fang is an action/adventure novel written by Jack London. White Fang takes place in Yukon
Territory and areas around Canada during the 1890s. It is written in 1st person and changes between
different people's point of views. White Fang is about the will to survive. White Fang must go
through whatever he needs to stay alive. There is always a new challenge Fang and his buddies must
face. That is why they are willing to do whatever to survive.
White Fang is put through many owners before finally finding the one he loves. He first starts off
with Gray Beaver, who owns he and his mother. He is very subtle and not cruel nor very nice. White
Fang is then transferred to Beauty Smith, who is ironically named "beauty" because he is hideous.
Beauty Smith tricked Gray Beaver into trading whiskey for White Fang. He is a very cruel man and
tries to transfer White Fang into a fighting wolf. Throughout the story White Fang is faced with
many battles, emotionally and physically, and must stride to survive.
There are many different antagonists through White Fang. Beauty Smith is a very ugly and cruel
man who tricked White Fang's previous owner into trading for whiskey. He tries over and over to
turn White Fang into a fighting dog and has him fight dogs for money. Cherokee is a bulldog who
almost kills White Fang. He is the only dog to ever get close to finish White Fang in a battle.
Another antagonist is Jim Hall. Jim Hall is a criminal who is sent to jail unjustly by Judge Scott.

John Thornton, from the book The Call of the Wild, stood up for what he believed was the right
thing to do in difficult times. Minho, who is a character in The Maze Runner, kept striving to make
sure that he would escape the maze while keeping the Gladers safe. Buck, whom is also from The
Call of the Wild, had to adapt and fight to lead his team in the North. However, all three were very
determined to follow what they believe because of their strong will.

determination seen in the musher and his team of dogs is without a doubt. The strong stare of the

One of Francois and Perrault's dogs were attacked by one of the dogs that were considered savages
in the town of Dyea Beach. The the wolfish creature of a dog jumped on Curly and ripped her face
open from eye to jaw and killed Curly. In the movie it does not show Curly was killed it does not
even talk about a dog named Curly. In chapter 3 of the book Buck killed Spitz the other dog. The
reason buck killed him was because Spitz went to attack Buck then they were attacking each other
and buck ended up killing spitz. In the movie buck also killed Spitz over food cause, Spitz tried to
take his food. In chapter 3 of the book it is also telling about a trip to deliver mail that they made in
record time. Something that the movie did not talk about that the movie did is no wolves attacked
Francois and Perrault's camp. There was not a fight between the Black Burton and John in the bar in
the movie but there was in the story. The money and distance were wrong and it was on mud instead

The fierce fighter and harder worker White Fang was just a baby when his long journey began.
White Fang was young and built like a rock. He ran a long way to be with his god (owner) and
proved that he can be a sled dog. His god's addiction to alcohol led to him being sold to somebody
that only wanted him to fight. The whole book is about him and his life. White Fang took place in
the northwest territories, Canada, and the Yukon Territories. He fought for a while and was unbeaten
until he faced Cherokee, who was a bulldog. The only reason he lived was because a man named
Weedon Scott bought him for $150. White Fang lived a rough life. He was beaten, used for money,

You can tell that "White Fang is told in the third person because it is told by somebody who is not in
the story and uses words like he and they. In my opinion, this book was good and filled with action,
but I think they could have improved it by adding more details about the antagonists.
The antagonists of White Fang are Lip–Lip and the other sled dogs, who fought him all the time
when he was young. Kiche, White Fang's mother, who in the beginning fought Bill and Henry for
food. Beaty Smith can also be considered an antagonists because he mistreated him.
These dogs and people are also central to the plot of the story. Lip–Lip was a sled dog, who didn't
like White Fang right off the bat, and the same for the other dogs because at this time Lip–Lip was
the leader and they followed him and stuck with him. Kiche was a dog that belonged to Grey
Beaver's brother that passed away. She was just a regular dog. Then there was Grey Beaver, who
was an alcoholic and sold White Fang to Beauty Smith. Beauty Smith used White Fang to fight for
money against other dogs. He was a cruel looking man. When White Fang lost a fight, Beauty Smith
was forced to sell him to Weedon Scott. Scott is a normal dog owner. Weedon Scott loves White
Fang. He was a successful gold
