A Common Goal Of Hispanic Consumer
A common goal between most U.S. companies is simple: attract the Hispanic
consumer. In 2012, a Nielson Report declared Hispanics to be the fastest growing
ethnic segment, with expectations to grow 167 percent from 2010 to 2050. It s been
recorded that Hispanics are currently the largest minority in the country, with the
Hispanicmarket growing 60% in the last decade. Though the Hispanic market is
considered a large homogenous market by many, it is actually made up of diverse
ethnic and racial groups with distinct socio demographic characteristics.
What is the Hispanic Population?
Juan Solana, chief economist of HispanTelligence, has stated that the average
spending power of the overall U.S. population has grown 2.8 percent over the past
decade, while Hispanic spending power has risen nearly 7.5 percent.
How do Hispanics Spend?
Hispanics are not only growing as a market segment, but they are growing within
their culture as well. Young Hispanics are tech savvy, motivated and willing to spend
their money. The current Hispanic buying power is estimated at $600 billion dollars
a year, with a majority of that money going towards fashion, home goods, food, and
transportation. Research indicates that Hispanics are primarily brand loyal; with
these characteristics combined, Hispanics become an ideal target.
According to the Neilson Report, the Hispanic buying power was positioned at $1.5
trillion in 2015, a 50 percent increase from 2010. Eva Gonzales, Executive Director

The Importance Of Teamwork In Remember The Titans
Remember The Titans is about a school playing football and they don t know how
to get along with the other skin color. Coach Boones comes in and whips them into

t work in one place, teamwork is everywhere you go. It is the main key in
everything and even in the smallest things. Remember The Titans is a whole movie
about teamwork. When Coach Boones comes in, all of the white players would
have quit the team. The reason why they would have leave is because their first
coach was like a father to them and they didn t want someone new to replace them.

The Non Alcoholic Beverage Segment
The non alcoholic beverage segment is a very competitive and dynamic sector and
encompasses a broad range of categories as showed in the chart below: The market
size is currently around $ 170 billion in sales and is projected to grow to $190
billion by 2020. As the graph below points out, the CSDs remain the largest single
sub category within the segment. However, as the CSD sub category continues to
decline, it is expected that most of the segment growth will be driven by smaller,
emerging better for you brands.
In reality, many of these sub categories are already experiencing a growth driven by
both the increasing demand for healthier, better for you alternatives and the
companies abilities to launch new products with original flavors and innovative
packaging.
As outlined in the chart above, between 2003 and 2013, per capita consumption of
CSDs decreased by 23%, while bottled water saw a 105% increase and juices and
other noncarbonated drinks increased 55%. While the CSDs sales are expected to
continue declining, other healthier and functional non alcoholic beverage categories
are expected to continue gaining share.
MARKET TRENDS
At least three factors may be considered as growth propellers in the group of healthy,
non carbonated beverages. The most important and widely discussed is the growing
consumer awareness and concerns about the effects of diet on health and well being.
This new approach, which has been producing profound effects on consumption

Naturalistic Observation Report
Naturalistic Observation What did you observe in the first time period? (give
brief description of the topic and what you observed) I chose to observe how
people conduct their body, eyes and hands when talking to others. With teenagers
being one of the most technological obsessed age groups they have been known to
be lacking in basic people skills. I wanted to observe for myself to find out how
true this statement really is. How did you decide you observe it? I choose the
same location as part B, The quad. Because it is a frequent area for students to hang
out in, therefore I was easily able to find people engaging in conversations. What
conclusions can you make from these observations? When people are really engaged
in a conversation most show it by using hand gestures and by making eye contact
with the other person. I did notice this with a few of... Show more content on

What was the topic of your observations? Why did you select this topic? My second
topic is slightly related to my first one that I chose in that I chose to observe how
people conducted themselves. I decided to calculate the percentage of people who
were engaged in a conversation, and who were on their own who were distracted
by their phones. How did you operationalize your observed behaviour? The easiest
way to conduct and operationalize the topic was to be in a crowded area, so I
decided to sit in the quad between classes since it s the most popular area for
people to be walking by or just hanging out. This is because the more people you
see, the bigger the variety of people you get and therefore the more accurate your
information will be. To get a number out of my observation I decided to take a tally
of the people that I saw on their own and in groups who were on their phones. What

Research Paper On Cocaine Addiction
Cocaine Addiction (H1)
An Ongoing Addiction Threat in America (H2)
Cocaine use has declined in recent years, most likely due to the surge in opiate use,
but it s still a very serious drug addiction problem in the United States. How serious
you ask? According to the CDC, 5,000 people died from cocaine overdose in 2014.
Even though the use of cocaine has recently declined, it s certainly not gone. In fact,
cocaine is the second most trafficked illegal drug worldwide.
One of the more dangerous aspects of cocaine abuse in the United States, is that its
risk is often downplayed. All too often, people view cocaine as a harmless party drug,
when nothing could be further from the truth.

Analysis Of Kotter s 1st Eight Stage Process
A useful concept that John Kotter provides is empowering people to effect change.
I have understood that effective change is harvested in the purpose organizations
serve to establish. This empowerment derives from the ability to communicate a
vision that initiates a sense of purpose and action. I understood that maintaining a
purpose for change is imperative in organizing the structure and cohesiveness of
dyads and individuals. It is essential for me to analyze my values and core culture
to the relevance and alignment towards changes. If I do not position my intent to
the organization s interests and objectives, I may be unable to deliver effective
change models and patterns. I would like to implement powerful conditions and
alliances to support both the organization s mission and the individuals collective
visions. Particularly, I am intrigued with the understandings in Kotter s 1st eight
stage process: creating a sense of urgency. Kotter reviews ways to raise the urgency
level. I considered possible ways to create urgency in an organization. If I am
seeking to demonstrate urgency from a personal position, I must use my emotional
intelligence to communicate the urgent relevancy to convince colleagues and
individuals. To assemble, I could place members in areas and task groupings that
reflect their core performance attributes. Assigning tasks from an aligned set of
skills can help quicken the pace and stability of our goals and projects. I can monitor
this process by

Music And Electronics Aid One Another
Music and electronics aid one another. In one way a person can capture music they
love through technology and electronic companies flourish due to the sale and
popularity of these electronic devices. If a person wants to hear music they will
turn on a stereo or TV, choose a CD or DVD to play, or listen to a songs downloaded
in ITunes. All of these devices use electronics to record, play, and change the way
musicis heard. A look through history will show how far society has come in music
alone. The development of technology has changed the way the music industry
operates and the way society hears and buys music today.
Society started off humming, then singing. People sang in church choirs, in the living
room on the stage. Music can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poor blacks could also afford the phonograph, and in their minds it was a way to try
and achieve equalities among whites by listening and learning their culture.
Repeatability was believed to serve two main functions: to single out the good music
versus the bad and to help listeners to appreciate the art of the classics. Due to the
fact that recording music had a maximum of three to four minutes, Musicians had to
drastically cut the time of their music to make more money. The phonograph was
later called a gramophone and then it was known as the wax cylinder. The
phonograph went out of style when the FM radio was invented and spread throughout
American homes.
In 1933, what thought to be just a dream, becomes a reality. Edwin Armstrong
invented the FM radio, the first system to ever broadcast wirelessly was produced.
The radio made music affordable for the consumer, because who would say free
music is expensive to listen to. It was also portable as long as a person had a
source of electric power, and it was repeatable because the stations got to choose
what they believed the best songs were. Later on there were the cassette tape, then
compact discs (CDs), and technology kept progressed wonderfully. The biggest
invention that changed the way music was listened to even more is in 1990, when
Karlheinz Brandenburg invented the Mp3.
At some point in the late 90s, MP3 was technically the best system out
Ethics Code
The Ethics Code is intended to support us in differentiating between suitable and
deplorable behavior in regards to all individuals. When working with adolescents and
children, the guidelines become a little more ambiguous. Adolescents require consent
from a legal guardian in most cases to seek treatment, but confidentiality permits
some information discussed from being released to the parent that requested the
treatment. When working with youth the primary focus can include not only the
ethical decision, but the legal and moral decisions, as well. In the article Vocal Cord

We are to presume that an irate, nervous adolescent has brought a handgun to school
where he has taken a classroom full of student s captive. The principle has called in
a SWAT team that devises to raid the classroom; marksmen center their laser sights
on the armed youth. Now, presume that a psychologist employed by the police
department consults with the parents of the captor. Based, alone, on the information
collected from the parents, the psychologist contacts the hostage taker by means of
a cell phone, endeavors to create a bond, asks questions, and involves the teen
emotionally. Due to the deliberate efforts of the psychologist, the teen eventually
becomes distracted and briefly puts down his firearm, permitting the SWAT team to
rush in and neutralize the captor. In a series of flawless situations this would be the
outcome every time, but what if the exertion to have the firearm put down does not
work? The psychologist would have to choose whether or not to change gears and
entice the hostage taker into a SWAT shooter s sights. When focusing on the
weaknesses of this article I find it lacks substantial detail when describing the hostage
situation. I felt that there were several missing details that would have been useful for
furthering the debate on when the standard to avoid harm would be tested. At the
same time I felt that Gerald

When you think about Romania, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is
the tale of Dracula. Fictional character who sprang through the homonymous novel
by Irish author Bram Stoker, a figure that was communicated by Hollywood movies
and nowadays has become an urban legend.
Since I was in Bucharest, I decided to visit Transylvania and see the homeland of
Dracula (associated with Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia also known as Vlad the
Impaler) in person. Transylvania is maybe the most famous part of Romania offering
great mountain views, impressive castles, historic medieval cities and little cute
villages.

Or else Dracula s Castle!! We were so excited, the half hour drive from Peles to Bran
felt like hours!!
Much more simple and rugged, our very well informed tour guide told us that this
rangy castle was built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order especially for battles
as it is located on the border of Wallachia with Transylvania and was suffering from
attacks all the time. Its narrow corridors, the low tunnel staircases and its complex
construction like a labyrinth, allowed Romanians to fight the enemy with ease.
In the following years, the castle was used as customs office as it is conveniently
located on the Silk Road until it was taken by royal family in 1920. It initially
became the residence of Queen Mary and after her death it was given to her
daughter, Princess Iliana. It functioned as a hospital during World War II and then
came into the possession of the communist regime with the eviction of the royal
family in 1948.
Although the locals insist that there is no connection of Bram Stoker s novel with
the castle or with the figure of Vlad III the Impaler, ruler of Wallachia, a whole floor
is devoted to recounting the legend, showing the movies filmed based in this myth

Not only is he using Gallimard for the government, but also for the control he has
over him. Song knows that Gallimard thinks he is the perfect woman. He allows him
to believe this for more than twenty years during their affair. It was not until the end
that Song told Gallimard the truth. Song lived most of her life as a lie, only because
she thought it was making her happy.
On the other side of Song s insecure image was his lover Gallimard. Gallimard first
lived a happy life with his lover Song. He changed his whole life and even got a
promotion because of his new attitude. Not praising himself he said, It is because
of you that I was promoted tonight. You have changed my life forever. My little

1988: bin laden founded al qaeda
Al Qaeda developed out of the struggle to expel the Soviet Union from Afghanistan.
Osama bin Laden, son of a wealthy Saudi contractor, joined many young Arab men
of his generation in Afghanistan. While he appears to have played a very minor role
in the fighting, his wealth enabled him to recruit, train, and supply fighters for the
insurgency. It was founded in Afghanistan. America started to support israel against
palestine which made al qaeda mad and wanted to fight back against the US which
lead to the truck bombing in 1993.

previous February bin Laden had issued a fatwa (religious edict) proclaiming it a
sacred duty for devout Muslims to kill Americans whenever and wherever they

members of Egyptian Islamic Jihad who had been arrested in Albania for an alleged
series of murders in Egypt in the two months prior to the attacks made al qaeda plan
their next attack on the USS The Sullivans.
On January 3, 2000 Al qaeda planned to attack the USS the Sullivans ship, but it

Pursuit Of The American Dream
The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream
Many human resource departments do not acknowledge resumes anymore. In fact,
many of the companies offer survival jobs instead of the jobs applicants actually
apply to, therefore causing downsizing. I know many may think what is a survival
job? A survival job is any job an applicant can obtain in order to put food on their
tables. Housekeeping, taxi driving or car detailing, to name a few, are survival jobs
that offer minimum wage or tips and no source of benefits.
In They Say I Say: The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing Barbara Ehrenreich
author of The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream claims that:
Stories of white collar downward mobility cannot be brushed off as easily as
accounts of blue collar economic woes, which the hard hearted traditionally blame
on bad choices : failing to get a college degree, for example, failing to postpone
child bearing until acquiring a nest egg, or failing to choose affluent parents in the
first place. But distressed white collar people cannot be accused of fecklessness of
any kind; they are the ones who did everything right. (261)
Ehrenreich makes a great point in saying that although many white collared
employees are looked upon as the so called over achievers in the corporate world,
there is no need to pity the blue collared employees for not obtaining the same status.
Middle class employees are just as important as the C.E.Os. that own the company.

Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama
Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval
drama were both very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance.
However, from ancient Greece to the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of
methodology; their practitioners use a creative process based off of different
mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had an
evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects
such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the
distinct theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval dramawill be made apparent.
Though both genres of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval
drama have different religious motivations that impact the ways in which the
theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the
Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four
Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as
Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three
tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000
spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society;
religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but
strongly encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not afford to attend

Gun Restrictions
More than just an end to war, we want an end to the beginnings of all wars. At the
time, President Theodore Roosevelt was referring to actual war, however saying this
quote in the present can mean something different. Our country is currently at war
with gun control; sadly this war is not like the rest because we can t fight this war
with violence. The lack of restrictions on who can purchase a gunis making America
an unsafe country for people of all ages; however, this issue can still be fixed
through the use of public awareness and reaching out to the society. Although our
country does have some restrictions as to who can buy a gun, there are no laws that
require private sellers to have restrictions or run background checks on the people...

the numerous shootings that have occurred due to lack of gun control. This shows
that people all around the country recognize it as an issue and are fighting to put it
to an end. If protesting isn t your cup of tea, you could also try writing a letter to

democracy; every voice has say in what happens. Everybody has a voice in this

Antigone And Ismene Analysis
Antigone, a play by Sophocles, contain the events that occur after the death of
Oedipus. Oedipus death marked the ending of the preceding book, Oedipus at
Colonus. Antigone, as reflected in the title, focuses on the life of Antigone, one of
Oedipus daughters. Within the play, Antigone is faced with a major disagreement
with her sister regarding the proper burial of their brother, Polyneices. Antigone and
Ismene are characters that hold contrasting ideals and opinions in reference to the
law of the gods v. the law of the state, family, loyalty, and the role of women in
society; however, these characters come from the same background, so there are
certain things that shape their reputation in the same ways. There was a clear divide...

In the text, she speaks about how their family has been through a lot of
reputational damage already and claims that doing this would only further harm
their reputations. On page 193, Ismene says, Sister, please, please! Remember how
our father died hated, in disgrace... and now, we two are left. Lastly, the sisters have
very different views on the role of women in society and the boundaries placed on
women in society. In the time the play is set in, there is a clear patriarchy set in
place. Burials are to be done by men; therefore, Antigone s plan to give her brother
a proper burial herself is an outrageous act that has a serious legal consequence.
Though her plan went against the accepted social paradigm of the time, she stayed
true to her promise and went ahead with the burial. In the beginning of the play,
when Antigone asks Ismene to accompany her in paying homage to their brother,
Ismene uses their role in society as a reason not to do so. Remind ourselves that we
are women and as such are not made to fight with men. (Roche 193.) In many ways,
Antigone was assuming the role of a man in society, rather than a woman for women
had little independence in their community.
Antigone and Ismene are represented with totally different personalities. Antigone is
a headstrong, relentless, independent woman who would do anything for her family.
This is made evident in both her success in giving her brother a proper burial and in
her loyalty to her father in Oedipus at
Security Implementation Requirement
Security implementation requirement
When we discussing security from the point of view an end user, the essential
WiMAX security concerns are protection and data safety, clients need conformation
that nobody can snoop on them and the data that sent over the connection is not
altered. This paramount as wireless signals might be easily sniffed by outsiders and
if the data is not secured, information leaks could happen.
For that reason, WiMAX ensures powerful security protocols to verify that private
data is encrypted for secure transmission over networks, since StarFruit
Communication aims to use WiMAX technology to share voice and data among
headquarters and branches. The protection of connection will be done by using strong
authentication and access control methods. In this way, our group chose to set up a
private network connection (VPN) over the WiMAX internet connection.
IEEE 802.16 protocol architecture and security solutions
The IEEE 801.16 classified into two layers that are physical layer (PHY) and
medium access control (MAC) layer. The PHY help four particulars which are
single carrier (MAN SC), Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM), Time Division
Duplexing (TDD) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).
WiMAX PHY is founded on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing to creating
transmitter to achieve high speed data transfer. Physical layers are intended for non
line of sight operation in frequency bands lower 11 GHz.

Speech On Child Labor
So..What is child labor? Child labor is children basically being slaves for other
people. Children who are involved in child labor are sold by their parents to other
companies. Adults would not be considered people who are in child labor because
they are grown adults. They work in fields and factories but mostly factories.
Sometimes they work in gold mines but with no safety equipment whatsoever. These
children work all day and not like you think which is maybe 3 hours. They spend
countless hours which I doubt you would even guess working in those fields,
Factories and gold mines. This segment will teach you all about childlaborand what
effects it has on these children. In this essay you will learn about Child Labor and
how it affects different children

But that is what set Activists wondering about child labor and what they can do to
prevent it from happening again. This became now a worldwide issue and eventually
Craig Kielburger heard about the problem and he figured out how he could solve it.
He eventually started a organization that helped kids in child labor. He eventually
got a success and was able to help other kids in child labor. All of this just started
because of the shooting.
Right now Child Labor is a International problem and it is trying to be stopped in
many countries. We do not child labor because it is a very sad thing to deal with
and we do have sympathy for what those children are going through and how much
they have to work. They are not just doing chores, they are doing labor.
Now let us get into more about the mines that the children do work in. The mines
that the children in child labor work in are very poisonous. They are unlicensed but
they still force the children who do not wear the proper safety equipment to work in
the mines and to mine the gold. The reason of the poison in the mines is because of
Mercury which is a very deadly
quot;the Oppressive Power of Patriarchy in Angela...
We can read Angela Carter as both entertaining and a critique of constructions and
presentations of power, gender, sexuality and construction of gendered identities.
First we will consider the oppressive and destructive power of patriarchy which is
the social system in which men are regarded as the authority within the family and
society. Afterwards in the next chapter we will investigate how Carter s heroines
succeed in constructing their femininity and their gendered identities. Let us look at
a typical piece of Carter s writing The Magic Toyshop and its specific focus on
critiquing the oppressive power of patriarchy that is represented through the
oppressive character of Uncle Phillip. The novel narrates... Show more content on

Lorna sage asserts: Uncle Philip has made images of them as toy monkeys, they
are in his power, and ......Melanie joins them in this house. 2 Carter tries to tell
readers through The Magic Toyshop how Uncle Philip s power 1could turn
Melanie into a victim and this exposes a kind of bullying male power. In her
penultimate novel Nights at the Circus, Carter mocks and explodes the constructive
cultural stereotypes of femininity and masculinity. The novel is divided into three
sections: London, St.Perersburg and Siberia and Carter conducts it like a circus.
The embodiement of the patriarchal power is in the characters of Walser, Christian
Rosencreutz, Grand Duke. For example, early in the novel, in London Carter
displays Walser s continous attempts to fix Fevvers to paper or to disclose her as a
hoax to secure immortality of profession acknowledgement. The journalist Walser
who represent the power of patriarchy comes to interview Fevvrers. He is more
ambitious about dismantling and distroying the identity that is presented to him than
trying to understand it. This is a condition of his journalistic ambition but it also an
act of misogyny to aliegn Fevvers to his own image of what a women should be. He
intents on fixing and writing Fevvers s identity in a manner that suits his
Essay On The Tabernacle
Chapter 7
The Tabernacle of the Old Testament The words tabernacle and temple can be
confusing; let me in a simple way explain the difference. Firstly the tabernacle is the
English translation of the Hebrew word ЧћЦґЧ©ЧЃЦ°Ч›ЦјЦёЧџ mishkan , which
simply means residence or dwelling place. According to the Hebrew Bible this was a
portable dwelling place for the presence of God, from the time of the Exodus to the
conquering of the Promise Land (Canaan). In contrast the temple is the English
translation of the Hebrew word Ч”ЦµЧ™Ч›ЦёЧњ heykal , meaning a large public
building. Unlike the tabernacle, the temple was stationary and also called the palace
of Jehovah . It was an elaborately ordained holy place where the people congregated
to worship God.
I will focus this chapter on the original tabernacle, which was God s idea, initiative,
design and plan constructed by Moses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the building of the tabernacle the people came together in obedience to the Word
of God given through Moses. I will not go into the specific measurements of the
tabernacle, but I will say its total square area was 7,500sq.ft. I will explore the three
compartments of the tabernacle, the contents that are within them, and also the
connection between the tabernacle and its relevance to worship in Moses time and
how it is symbolic of today s worship.
There are three compartments within the tabernacle: the Outer Court where the
brazen altar and the washbasin are, then walking through a veiled curtain was the
Holy Place (also known as the inner court) where the menorah, the table of
showbread and the altar of incense was placed, and finally the Holy of Holies where
the ark of the covenant was found.

Essay On Free Will In Hamlet And Oedipus The King
In William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus the King, fate and free
will both play a critical role that ultimately lead to both protagonists downfall.
Prince Hamlet has more control over his actions and the choices he makes, whereas
Oedipus fate overpowers his will. The nature of knowledge and ignorance play a
significant role as Hamlet exhibits self awareness while Oedipusis impulsive and
ignorant about the truth about his parenthood. Lastly, Hamlet is reluctant to succumb
to his fate, while Oedipus surrenders himself to accept the painful truth about his
destiny by letting the prophecy take control of the events in his life, overpowering his
will. Although both protagonists exert their free will, Hamlet has more control over...

Oedipus exhibits excessive hubris throughout the play, especially when he claims
he can escape the fate of his prophecy. This is evident when he commits blasphemy
by asking himself why he is to study Apollo s oracle, or gaze at the birds screaming
(Sophocles 53), not realizing that his excessive pride is leading him to his fate.
Although he tries to exert his free will, he does not have a choice but to surrender
himself after experiencing his downfall caused by his hubris. After learning the truth,
he painfully realizes that his life is controlled only by fate, and cries out, Light, let
this be the last time I see you (69). He punishes himself by surrendering and blinding
himself, symbolizing his blindness to the truth when he had sight. In contrast, Hamlet
does not let fate control him, rather he chooses the paths he takes. Evidently, Hamlet
s paths are driven by his psychological conflicts and beliefs. Some psychological
conflicts include him overthinking before putting himself into action, like when he
misunderstands that King Claudius is praying (Shakespeare 3.3.81). He thinks that it
will not be revenge but rather the deeds of hire and salary (3.3.80). This is a
personal choice that Hamlet makes as a result of his careful analysis. He is reluctant
to surrender himself to fate, assuming that belief that Claudius, his enemy, might go
to heaven. While Hamlet tries his best to never
Workplace Stress Among The Employee
Workplace Stress among the Employee in Insurance sector: A study 1.Introduction
Stress is a part of daily living. It is an adaptive response. Stress occurs at the
workplace when there is a mismatch between the expectations of the employee
and demand of the employer. Stress basically reduces a person s ability to perform
and think differently which is bad for every firm. Many researches have been done
which concluded that stressed out managers are not good for the organization.
From the individual s point of view stress is our body s physical, mental and
chemical reactions to the circumstances that confuse, endanger or irritate us. If this
stress is controlled, it becomes a friend which give strength to us but if handled
poorly it becomes an enemy which can cause many diseases like blood pressure,
asthma, thyroid, ulcer etc. Stress is the output of modern lifestyles. There can be
basically 3 levels of stress If the stress is at the optimum level Individual will
perform well to his full capacity. If it is more than the optimum level Negative
response, individual can suffer from health problems. If it is less than the optimum
level Individual gets bored from his work, which reduces his efficiency. Stress can
have positive as well as negative effects. If the individual can manage the stress then

A Definition of Collaborative vs Cooperative Learning
A Definition of Collaborative vs Cooperative Learning
Ted Panitz (1996)
[pic]
I have been searching for many years for the Holy Grail of interactive learning, a
distinction between collaborative and cooperative learning definitions. I am getting
closer to my elusive goal all the time but I am still not completely satisfied with my
perception of the two concepts. I believe my confusion arises when I look at
processes associated with each concept and see some overlap or inter concept usage.
I will make a humble attempt to clarify this question by presenting my definitions and
reviewing those of other authors who have helped clarify my thinking.
Collaboration is a philosophy of interaction and personal lifestyle whereas
cooperation is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major difference lies in the fact that cooperative deals exclusively with traditional
(canonical) knowledge while collaborative ties into the social constructivist
movement, asserting that both knowledge and authority of knowledge have changed
dramatically in the last century. The result has been a transition from foundational
(cognitive) understanding of knowledge , to a nonfoundational ground where we
understand knowledge to be a social construct and learning a social process (Brufee,
Collaborative learning: Higher Education, Interdependence, and the Authority of
Knowledge, 1993). Rockwood states:
In the ideal collaborative environment, the authority for testing and determining the
appropriateness of the group product rests with, first, the small group, second, the
plenary group (the whole class) and finally (but always understood to be subject to
challenge and revision) the requisite knowledge community (i.e. the discipline:
geography, history, biology etc.) The concept of non foundational knowledge
challenges not only the product acquired, but also the process employed in the
acquisition of foundational knowledge.
Most importantly, in cooperative, the authority remains with the instructor, who
retains ownership of the task, which involves either a closed or a closable (that is to
say foundational) problem ( the instructor knows or can predict the answer). In
collaborative, the instructor once the task is set transfers

The Evolution of the Motet Essay
The Evolution of the Motet
The Evolution of the Motet
Throughout the history of music, there have been few styles that not only have
opened doors to masterwork compositions in their own genres, but have also led the
way to other musical techniques over the musical eras and one of these magical
music styles is the motet. The motet can easily be confused with other musical
structures but what separates the motet from other types of group performance
based styles of music is a piece of music in several parts with words. 1 This is the
closest definition of motet as can be said without overgeneralization and will operate
from the beginning of the 13th century well into the late 16th century and beyond.
Some scholars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medieval motets tended to be isorhythmic; that is, they employed repeated rhythmic
patterns in all voices not only the cantus firmus which did not necessarily coincide
with repeating melodic patterns. 2 This new isorhythmic principle, brought on mostly
by the composer Machaut, was used not only in the tenor voice but also rather with
much more freedom in the upper voice parts. The application of discant over a cantus
firmus marked the beginnings of this new revolutionary style, the motet, in Western
music. The key motet composers in the medieval period were few in number; Phillip
de Vitry and Machaut were one of the earliest composers to institute the isorhythmic
technique, which set the style for other medieval composers like Willelmus de
Winchecumbe. Guillaume de Machaut was a more famous named late medieval
composer to institute the discant which caught on in other music styles and only
helped to evolve the motet into its later stylings. These composers helped carry the
motet to the new Flemish motet style.
The Flemish style of motets marked the peak of the motet, in my opinion. The
Flemish motet was more polished and refined while in contrast, the medieval motet
was a diamond in the rough.

Rose for Emily and Barn Burning, William Faulkner creates two characters worthy
of comparison. Emily Grierson, a recluse from Jefferson, Mississippi, is an
important figure in the town, despite spending most of her life in seclusion. On the
contrary, Abner Snopes is a loud, fiery tempered man that most people tend to avoid.
If these characters are judged by reputation and outward appearance only, the
conclusion would be that Emily Grierson and Abner Snopes are complete opposites.

similar personalities. First of all, Emily Grierson and Abner Snopes have very

Colonel Grierson limits the people Miss Emily is allowed to see and to the point
that she has no friends or even acquaintances. So after her father dies, she does not

Emily is isolated from the townspeople, they feel isolated from her. She is thought
of not as someone to befriend, but as a member of the aristocracy, like a princess
or queen of the town. She is far removed from the rest of society. As usual, common
townspeople do not socialize with the high class citizens, so neither does the
community get to know Miss Emily. The town puts together rumors they hear and
forms the story of her life. At her funeral, all the people come and are talking of
Miss Emily as if she had been a contemporary of theirs, believing they had danced
with her and courted her perhaps, confusing time with its mathematical

for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her
house (47). They view her as a tradition, a duty, and care; a sort of hereditary
obligation upon the town (47). She is never a true, genuine person in anyone s mind,
only an unreachable object. Miss Emily lives her life as a recluse because of the gap

The Economic Crisis Of Boomerang Buyers
Several years ago, the United States experienced an economic disaster like no one
has ever seen before. This economic crisis left families devastated, broken and in
disbelief as they were being escorted and locked out of their homes in the presenceof
neighbors, families, and children. During the economic crisis, the current boomerang
buyers were not able to meet their financial obligations, and as a result lost their
homes to foreclosure, and many had to file bankruptcy.Purchasing a home with bad
credit is difficult, but not impossible. As these foreclosure victims try to reconstruct
their lives, it is imperative they reestablish good credit.

Therefore, with distance (minimum two years) between the prior foreclosure event
and locating a potential new home, the boomerang buyer is facing the opportunity of
a lifetime to buy a home again(Martin).
Current boomerang buyers are opting to rent to own as a possible way to procure a
home.According to an article, entitled How to Buy A House Using A Lease, Rent
to own is a good option for foreclosure victims with poor credit (MediaWiki).Rent to
own usually require buyers to pay extra rents each month plus up front fees of about
5% of the purchase price. The regular rent then goes in owner s pocket (presumably
to pay the mortgage), but the additional payments are used to buy down the price of
the home (Christie).
The buyer should save for a down payment, address credit issues and pay off existing
debts before buying. Rent to own afford the boomerang buyers time to assess their
finances to figure out:
If they have enough money to come up with the down payment;
If they have enough money to pay the mortgage;
If they have the income to invest;
If there is enough money to meet other expenses; and
Most importantly, if they plan to stay in the house. (Christie) There are several
benefits to lease options. During the period of the lease, the boomerang buyer has
time to put their finances in order, thus reducing the stress of paying a mortgage.
Also the prospective buyer has an opportunity to improve their credit profile; a longer

Analysis Of Where I m Calling From
Thesis Statement: In Narration and Interiority in Raymond Carver s Where I m
Calling From, Claudine Verley analyzes the narration in the short story and used it to
deduce the character traits of the story s protagonist.
Verley states that the setting in Where I m Calling From shows that Carver also
struggled to overcome a drinking problem. In the short story, there is no personal
detail of the narrator. The narrator s name remains a mystery, except for the fact that
he is separated from his wife while at the same time he is not interested in his
girlfriend (Verley 91). Verley thinks that Carver decided not to share any details of
the narrator because he wants to escape his identity rather than reinforce it. Also,
since there is no equivalent life force in the narrator s existence, this shows that he
remains alone at the end, and thus making the claim that alcoholism is essentially
inexplicable (Verley 91). There is an implicit comparison between the narrator and
J.P and the narrator is constantly reminded of his personal adventures through Joe
Penny s narration (Verley 91). Joe Penny is a man in his thirties and he is also an
alcoholic. In the story, the narrator empathizes with Joe Penny because he is just like
him. Joe Penny possesses an element that is in common with the narrator, an element
that is beyond their alcoholism and presence at the rehabilitation facility. Joe Penny
was dropped off at a rehabilitation center by his father in law and he tells a
##s Of Illusions In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
Obstacles can come in many forms; they can be a person, a thing, or a concept
such as the glass ceiling. Sometimes, a person can have a mental blockade that
keeps them from achieving their goals. Illusion often clouds one s perception of
reality and makes it difficult to distinguish what s real from what s imaginary and
this is represented in many forms of media, including pieces of literature such as
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Macbeth by William Shakespeare.
Illusions have been melded into our society, especially through media. On social

Relating to modern times, this is similar to many forms of social media because

for internet influencers. The pedestal that is consistently growing larger keeps
people from reaching out to Gatsby since they view him as unreachable and out of
their league. No one besides Nick Caraway knows the true Gatsby. People

he was a German spy during the war (44). These imaginary concepts intimidate
many people, but in reality Gatsby is a beautiful cinnamon roll, too good for this

the imaginations of the gossiping population builds a wall between the people and
the real facts about Gatsby since they refuse to believe anything but the extrodinary.

that Daisy loved only him during the five years he was
Lifeboat Ethics The Case Against Helping The Poor
In 1974, Garrett Hardin, an ecologist and philosopher, published the article, Lifeboat
Ethics: the Case Against Helping the Poor subsequently, it received critical
controversy in regards to world poverty. In 1999, another philosopher, Peter Singer,
published another article called, The Singer Solution to World Povertywhich also
discussed the issue of world poverty. Hardin clearly states the deficiency behind
helping the poor, while Singer is in total favor of helping the poor. Each author
properly stated their claims and utilized strong imagery to support it. Even though
Singer supports helping the poor, there is something that he had overlooked, which is

Singer refers to Peter Unger s, another philosopher, book, Living High and Letting

of tracks. There s an incoming train that is rapidly approaching and if it were to
continue on its track, it will surely kill the child. You can save your vehicle by
using the lever to change the trajectory of the train, but will kill the child, or you
can sacrifice your dream vehicle to let the child live. This is an example of a conflict
between Morality and Materialism, and since Singer uses many examples of the
conflict between Morality and Materialism, it s clear that Singer opposes capitalism
and the many attributes surrounding it. Singer argues, [...] so much of our income is
spent on things not essential to the preservation of our lives and health. (Singer,

The sovereign Euro crisis inflicting the Euro zone nations have both internal

Tenebrism In 1600s
Art plays a big role in history, and continues to be a big part of every culture in the
world. Art gives everyone a way to express themselves whether it is a personal
reason, or about society in general. In each century a new way of creating art was
introduced and is respected to the day and still practiced. Tenebrism was
introduced in the Baroque era of the 1600 s. This is an art form related to realism
that was mastered, before tenebrism was later seen. The start of this art form came
about, because of what was happening in society in the 1600 s. In the Baroque era
there was a guy named, Caravaggio, who is considered the founder of the art of
tenebrism. The art of tenebrism tells the history of Europe with using light and dark
colors in the paints for adding effects for the viewers. This started in Rome when the
problem of different churches started to branch off of the Catholic Church. These
religious consisted of Lutherans and Protestants were the main ones, and became a
huge problem for the Catholic Church, because up until then that was the major big
religion. Tenebrism was used mostly as propaganda in an effort to get people to
continue with the Catholic faith and nothing else. Caravaggio was going through a

The dark background relates to the fact that in the Baroque era, they were going
through a dark time, almost to say lead by a dark force that was taking away people
from the Catholic Church. These different religious were also mostly only believing
in God or Jesus, and my opinion is that all these paintings didn t just focus on them
the also included angels, Mary, or anyone else considered important in the Catholic
faith. That is why I think that they only highlight the face to give these different
people to acknowledgment them and everything else is casted in the dark with the
Children Who Suffer From Neglect Essay
Every year there are millions of children who suffer from an epidemic of child abuse
and neglect at the hands of the very people who they trust to love them and care for
them. According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2011), child
neglect accounted for 78.3% of all reported cases of maltreatment. These statistics
make neglectthe most common type of child maltreatment, however it is often
under recognized. The Department of Health (1999) refers to neglect as the
persistent failure to meet a child s basic physical and/or psychological needs, likely
to result in the serious impairment of the child s health or development. Physical,
psychological, medical, educational, and mental health, are the five major types of
neglect identified by famed psychologist Erik Erikson. Many children who suffer
from neglect experience detrimental physical and psychological consequences
including, poor mental and emotional health, cognitive difficulties, poor hygiene,
hunger, inadequate language skills, illness, and even death. Children who are
young, irritable, disabled, or premature are more susceptible to neglect. In the
article Signs, Symptoms and Risk Factors: Health Visitors Perspectives of Child
Neglect , Helen Herron David Lewin and conducted a research study based on their
expertise in the field of child protection, the perceptions of experienced health
visitors with respect to 45 signs, symptoms and risk factors of child neglect derived
from the literature (2007).
Weight Bench Research Paper
Every home gym needs a weight bench. Strength training is one of the most
common types of training done by fitness enthusiasts. Building muscle burns fat
and has transformative effects on the physique. In order to target specific muscle
groups and perform certain lifts like the bench press and dumbbell flys, a bench is
needed. A weight bench is a main component of any weight lifting set. It is a 3 foot
long board that a lifter lays or sits on in order to perform various weight lifting
exercises. The exercises done on a weight bench often involve a barbell or a set of
dumbbells. Its primary purpose is to make lifting free weights safer and offer support
for the lifter in order to encourage proper form and technique. Weight benches come

The Theme of Isolation in Robert Frost s The Mending
Wall...
The Theme of Isolation in Robert Frost s The Mending Wall
Robert Frost s The Mending Wall is a comment on the nature of our society. In this
poem, Frost examines the way in which we interact with one another and how we
function as a whole. For Frost, the world is often one of isolation. Man has difficulty
communicating and relating to one another. As a result, we have a tendency to shut
ourselves off from others. In the absence of effective communication, we play the
foolish game of avoiding any meaningful contact with others in order to gain privacy.
The Mending Walldescribes two neighboring farmers who basically live in isolation,
at least from one another. Frost s use of language reinforces the idea of isolation.

He has learned that it is easier to shut someone out than to attempt to effectively
communicate.
While the narrator seems more willing to reach out to his neighbor, in the end, he
does not. He does wonder why fences supposedly make good neighbors. For him,
the question is what is he walling in or walling out ? He seems to realize that he is
walling out other people. As long as the symbolic wall stands between the
neighbors, they will always be separated. Earlier in the poem, Frost uses the
symbolism of a rabbit to seemingly reinforce this point. The hunters must destroy the
wall in order to have the rabbit out of hiding . The men, in turn must break down the
walls between them if they are to come out of hiding . The narrator seems to have a
desire to point this out to his neighbor. However, he does not, simply dismissing his
idea as the mischief that spring has instilled in him. He realizes that he is unable to
communicate with his neighbor in any meaningful fashion and, thus, remains in
isolation from him.
Frost considers the interaction between the two men to be nothing more than a
foolish game. He uses language which makes the process of wall mending seem
structured and organized in the manner of a game. The two men walk the line as
they keep the wall between us as we go . Frost makes the men seem like opponents
in this kind of outdoor game , as they are positioned one on a side . Thus as they
work together,
Linear Patterns In The Middle East
Pattern: There is a clustered pattern of low female literacy rates around Africa and
the Middle East.
There is a linear pattern in the Northern Hemisphere of countries with high female
literacy rates. There is also a similar linear pattern in the southern hemisphere, across
southern South America, southern Africa, and Oceania.
Quantify: In Africa, most countries, such as Uganda, Angolia, Chad, Niger and
Mali, all have under 61% of women who can read and write. For example, only
23% of women can read and write in Benin. This is also the case in the Middle East,
where countries such as Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and India all have under 76% of
women that can read. For example, in Yemen, only 30% of women can read and
write. This pattern is
Socrates And The City Of Pigs
In Book II IV of Plato s Republic, Socrates* creates an ideal polis, and in doing so,
will find justice in the soul. The two foundational principles of the city that Socrates
creates, The City of Pigs** as Glaucon calls it, that eventually grows into the ideal
city are self sufficiency and one person one art, referred to today as specialization.
Due to the fact that individual people are not self sufficient*, that is they are not able
to survive on their own without the help of other people, the citizens of the citymust
take up a profession and utilize trade. Socrates believes in one person one art*, the
idea that each individual should only practice the craft that they are most naturally
suited to do. Socrates considers war to be its own... Show more content on

Socrates advocates this when he says The result, then, is that more plentiful and
better quality goods are more easily produces if each person does one thing for
which he* is naturally suited, does it at the right time, and is released from having to
do any of the others. (p. 45 370c) In the simple city, the City of Pigs, that Socrates
first creates, the professions include farmers, builders, weavers, carpenters, cobblers,
shepherds, cowherds, metal workers, importers, and merchants*. This city contains
the bare necessities, and the professions reflect that.
Glaucon argues that no person would want to live in a city such as this one. He
argues that If [the citizens of the city] aren t to suffer hardships, they should recline
on proper couches, dine at a table, and have the delicacies and desserts that people
have nowadays. (p.47 372 d)* Socrates refers to the city that Glaucon believes the
citizens should live in as the luxurious city *. The luxurious city, because it has
poetry, music, art, desserts, comfortable furniture, prostitutes, and other delicacies,
contains a much larger amount of people than did the healthy city. This increase in
population requires more land, which must be seized from neighbors. The seizing of
land combined with the fact that the luxurious city is much more desirable to attack
than the healthy city leads to war*. Socrates believes that warfare is a
profession*(374b) , so there must be a class of citizens
Savage Reservation In Brave New World
Both Brave New World and The Dispossessed have different takes on utopia, a
place or state of ideal perfection and excellence. However, the savage reservation
in Brave New World has a lack of government, which allows for the people there to
freely decide how they would wish to live, unlike the World State or Anarres in The
Dispossessed. The World State and Anarres have controlling governments that
monitors all ideas to decide if they are considered dangerous to the society and
regulates the opinions of the people. The savage reservation in Aldous Huxleys Brave
New Worldis more utopian than both the modern World State and Ursula Le Guin s
communist planet of Anarres from The Dispossessed because it maximizes freedom
while minimizing the power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People at the savage reservation are less controlled because their culture and society
is less structured due to its small size. The general leader has less to worry about
when leading a small group rather than a large population in terms of riots, wars, and
revolutions, therefore major control is unnecessary. In the World State however, the
population is immense because of their method of creating babies in test tubes. To
sustain peace, happiness, and the feeling of utopia, the government uses its control to
give everyone in the same class the same opinion. This is done through
conditioning, which includes forcing babies to associate electric shocks to certain
items and hypnopædia. In the beginning of the book, the Director says The child s
mind is these suggestions, and the sum of the suggestions is the child s mind... but
all these suggestions are our suggestions! (Huxley 29) when describing why
hypnopædia is used on the children as they grow up. This quote shows how the
government s opinions are forced into the entire population s head as they grow up
and that they are proud to be controlling their minds. This method may prevent
wars over different beliefs and make everyone satisfied that they are in their
assigned social class, but it also takes away individuality and freedom. Anarres is
also heavily populated, so the Odonians are taught to believe that the people on
Urras are corrupt and evil to keep them from wanting to leave Anarres or make
contact with Urras. The extent of this belief is seen when Shevek explains why he
might not return from Urras by stating, Anybody outside Defense could make
explosives with blasting powder and blow up the ship on the ground. Or, more
likely, attack me once I was outside the ship. (Le Guin 378). The people of Anarres
think that Urras is so malicious that a fellow Odonian would not be
Parable Of The Good Saitan
n the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells a parable during one of his teachings revealing
virtues like compassion, humanity, and nobility. The parable of the Good
Samaritan is an example of the great commandment Thou shalt love thy neighbor
as thyself (Luke 10:27). Although the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25 37) is an old
parable, it is an example to be followed in modern society. A lesson that I will carry
through high school and my life is that it should not matter who the person is and
their differences, if they are in need we must help them because it is the just thing to
do. To begin with, the parable was Jesus s answer to a question asked by one of his
students.
There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test him and said, Teacher,... Show

But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the
sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and
bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and
cared for him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the
innkeeper with the instruction, Take care of him. If you spend more than what I
have given you, I shall repay you on my way back. Which of these three, in your
opinion, was neighbor to the robbers victim? He answered, The one who treated him
with mercy. Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise. (Luke 10:30 37).
The Good Samaritan teaches one that our dissimilarities shouldn t define our love
and mercy towards each other. The jewish man was badly hurt and left to die,
many people of the same religion and tribe passed by him, however the Samaritan
(at the time Jews and Samaritans were rivals) showed the most compassion and
mercy. The Samaritan did not allow religious bigotry to get in the way of her
righteousness and morality and we should all follow her example. Lastly, the Good
Samaritan story is a story that I can apply as I enter into high school. Being
openminded, merciful, and compassionate are all important characteristics to live by,
thus the Good Samaritan. But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved
with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his
wounds
Michael White Accomplishments
Michael Jai White was a teacher of emotionally disturbed middle school students
before he started acting ( Michael Jai White ). Michael Jai White is a talented man
that has gone through his own struggles in becoming who he is today. Like the
kids he taught Michael White didn t have an easy childhood at 14 he left home
and got in with a bad crowd, then at 15, he was shot twice: one bullet in his arm,
and the other in his hip ( White, Michael Jai ). Fortunately, this got White back on
track and took him away from a life of crime. Though White had a rough start to life,
his life could have turned out quite differently if not for his passion. It could be said

Kim Jong Sung By Kim Il Sung
Kim Il Sung, originally born Kim Song ju, was born on April 15, 1912. Kim was
born in a dark time for the Koreans due to the occupation of Korea by Japan. It was
around this time when North Koreans grew tired of being Japan s puppets, and they
were ready for a true Korean to stand up for them and take back their beloved
country. Kim IL Sung was not born to become anyone important, and he was
certainly not born to become the future dictator of North Korea. Kim s family came
from nowhere special they were ordinary farmers who kept to themselves and kept
their Christian beliefs close to their hearts. Kim did not have the same faith his
family had; in fact he did not care much for religion at all. Kim s main interest
growing up was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once in the army Kim learned a great deal about politics and communism from his
boss Wei Zhengmin. Kim became part of a Korean guerilla group, and with his
help his group became notoriously known for their attacks. Eventually these
guerrilla groups became a big enough threat that Japan posted rewards for any
information on these guerilla groups, and over time Japan attempted to eliminate
as many of these guerrilla groups as possible. Those groups that managed to evade
Japan, Kim il Sung was among them, found refuge in the Soviet Union. The Soviet
Union trained and armed these guerilla groups. Kim quickly became known for his
leadership skills and his knowledge in both communism and politics his growing
popularity with the Russians gained Kim more connections with the Russians and
the Chinese. When World War 2 was almost over the Korean Peninsula was cut at
the 38 parallel line by the U.S. after the war ended the Soviet Union gained control
of the Northern half of the peninsula while the United States gained control of the
southern half. At the time Joseph Stalin was the dictator of the Soviet Union and he
was not sure who he should appoint leader of North Korea. Due to Kim Il Sung s
many connections in the Soviet Union the Soviets appointed Kim as the leader of
the Northern half of the Korean peninsula. Kim was forever grateful to Stalin and
always did his best to mirror his leadership ways. Now that
Shooting The Elephant
LOST
The narrator encounters three conflicts, one with the people of Burma who ridicule
him when he is secretly on their side, one with the British Empire on account of its
shameful occupation of Burma and one with his conscience the elephant. The
conflicts are so disturbing to him that he struggles with their answers.
Orwell starts the story with his struggle with the Burmese people. As a police
officer I was an obvious target and was baited whenever it seemed safe to do so. In
the end the sneering yellow faces of young men that met me everywhere, the insults
hooted after me when I was at a safe distance, got badly on my nerves. The narrator
is upset that he is hated just for doing his job. When he actually hated his job and ...

At heart he was against imperialism, and unable to face an empire, he had to carry out
a job. The Burmese s continuous mockery of him made him carry hatred towards
them as well. So even if he politically sided with them he was helpless.
The elephant becomes the breaking point of the two conflicts. Shooting the elephant
is a conflict of his conscience, the fight inside himself. He needs the peoples respect
and though the threat of the elephant seems to have passed it is still expected of him
to shoot it. The sole thought in my mind was that if anything went wrong those two
thousand Burmans would see me pursued, caught, trampled on and reduced to a
grinning corpse like that Indian up the hill. And if that happened it was quite
probable that some of them would laugh. That would never do. He decides to shoot it.
And afterwards I was very glad that the coolie had been killed; it put me legally in
the right and it gave me a sufficient pretext for shooting the elephant. I often
wondered whether any of the others grasped that I had done it solely to avoid
looking a fool. His decisions were made and though there were circumstances behind
each decision he was left to feel the guilt of his actions. I perceived in this moment
that when the white man turns tyrant it is his own freedom that he

Thin looks more healthy and attractive. Thin looks you more better in clothing that
you would want to wear. In my opinion, being thin is not what it is all cracked up
to be. Being thin has many benefits in a matter of health tissues, but being fat doesn
t necessarily mean that the fat person is close to have heart attack. It all depends
on the person. Fat is good, it gives you that insulation that you need during those
long, lonely, cold nights because there s no one to hold you. People are too into
thin is in idea, not seeing that fat can be beautiful. As a person who doesn t belong
in the thin category, I strongly believe that I can be healthier without changing my
size dramatically. It s true that there are many health issues to consider when a
person is fat, but it is also true that many thin people have just as many problems.
Many people strive to become thin to look beautiful and can be accepted by our
societies, especially models and dancers. Many of them have eating disorders that
definitely does not make them healthy. There will always be a debate between fat
and thin. In my opinion, fat is better. Despite the possible health problems and
risks, fat people too, can be healthy. It s a choice made by the person. I have never
met an angry, up tight fat person in my nearly sixteen years of existence. We re just

Effects Of The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
The 1920s went into American History as the most controversial decade (Geisst,
2012 p. 146). Nobody could have foreseen at the beginning of 1929 what importance
this year would have for the financial market (Wigmore, 1975 p. 4).
The booming 20s were drastically ended by the Stock Market crash of 1929. It went
down in history as one of the worst economic downturns (Termin, 1976 p. xi). The
panic at the stock market which led to many people trying to sell their stocks started
on Wednesday, October 23 (Geisst, 2012 p. 185). Thursday, October 24, 1929 has
gone into history as Black Thursday (Geisst, 2012 p. 185). The whole stock market
lost 30 percent of its value before the end of the year 1929 (McGrattan Prescott,

179). De Long and Shleifer (1990 p. 3) estimate that the stock market in 1929 was
one third overvalued. Common stocks seemed to be running out in 1929
(Galbraith, 1977 p. 69). Therefore because of the shortage of stocks, prices rose to
sky high levels (Galbraith, 1977 p 69). It cannot be proven that stocks were
overrated at the time of the crash. Yet there is prove that speculative gamblers are
not to be blamed for the crash. Knowledgeable investors were just too optimistic in
the stocks and therefore this led to the burst (Bierman, 1991 p 175). Laura Agadoni
supports this cause in her research paper (Agadoni, n.d). It was not seen at first hand
in October 1929 if stocks were overvalued. The market functioned well; investors and
speculators were buying stocks (Bierman, 1997 p.

  • 2. A Common Goal Of Hispanic Consumer A common goal between most U.S. companies is simple: attract the Hispanic consumer. In 2012, a Nielson Report declared Hispanics to be the fastest growing ethnic segment, with expectations to grow 167 percent from 2010 to 2050. It s been recorded that Hispanics are currently the largest minority in the country, with the Hispanicmarket growing 60% in the last decade. Though the Hispanic market is considered a large homogenous market by many, it is actually made up of diverse ethnic and racial groups with distinct socio demographic characteristics. What is the Hispanic Population? Juan Solana, chief economist of HispanTelligence, has stated that the average spending power of the overall U.S. population has grown 2.8 percent over the past decade, while Hispanic spending power has risen nearly 7.5 percent. How do Hispanics Spend? Hispanics are not only growing as a market segment, but they are growing within their culture as well. Young Hispanics are tech savvy, motivated and willing to spend their money. The current Hispanic buying power is estimated at $600 billion dollars a year, with a majority of that money going towards fashion, home goods, food, and transportation. Research indicates that Hispanics are primarily brand loyal; with these characteristics combined, Hispanics become an ideal target. According to the Neilson Report, the Hispanic buying power was positioned at $1.5 trillion in 2015, a 50 percent increase from 2010. Eva Gonzales, Executive Director of Diverse

Coach Boones comes in and whips them into shape and teaches them on how to play together as one as a team. Teamwork doesn t work in one place, teamwork is everywhere you go. It is the main key in everything and even in the smallest things. Remember The Titans is a whole movie about teamwork. When Coach Boones comes in, all of the white players would have quit the team. The reason why they would have leave is because their first coach was like a father to them and they didn t want someone new to replace them. • 4. The Non Alcoholic Beverage Segment The non alcoholic beverage segment is a very competitive and dynamic sector and encompasses a broad range of categories as showed in the chart below: The market size is currently around $ 170 billion in sales and is projected to grow to $190 billion by 2020. As the graph below points out, the CSDs remain the largest single sub category within the segment. However, as the CSD sub category continues to decline, it is expected that most of the segment growth will be driven by smaller, emerging better for you brands. In reality, many of these sub categories are already experiencing a growth driven by both the increasing demand for healthier, better for you alternatives and the companies abilities to launch new products with original flavors and innovative packaging. As outlined in the chart above, between 2003 and 2013, per capita consumption of CSDs decreased by 23%, while bottled water saw a 105% increase and juices and other noncarbonated drinks increased 55%. While the CSDs sales are expected to continue declining, other healthier and functional non alcoholic beverage categories are expected to continue gaining share. MARKET TRENDS At least three factors may be considered as growth propellers in the group of healthy, non carbonated beverages. The most important and widely discussed is the growing consumer awareness and concerns about the effects of diet on health and well being. This new approach, which has been producing profound effects on consumption habits,

My second topic is slightly related to my first one that I chose in that I chose to observe how people conducted themselves. The easiest way to conduct and operationalize the topic was to be in a crowded area, so I decided to sit in the quad between classes since it s the most popular area for people to be walking by or just hanging out. This is because the more people you see, the bigger the variety of people you get and therefore the more accurate your information will be. To get a number out of my observation I decided to take a tally of the people that I saw on their own and in groups who were on their phones. What conclusions can be drawn from your

  • 9. Analysis Of Kotter s 1st Eight Stage Process A useful concept that John Kotter provides is empowering people to effect change. I have understood that effective change is harvested in the purpose organizations serve to establish. This empowerment derives from the ability to communicate a vision that initiates a sense of purpose and action. I understood that maintaining a purpose for change is imperative in organizing the structure and cohesiveness of dyads and individuals. It is essential for me to analyze my values and core culture to the relevance and alignment towards changes. If I do not position my intent to the organization s interests and objectives, I may be unable to deliver effective change models and patterns. I would like to implement powerful conditions and alliances to support both the organization s mission and the individuals collective visions. Particularly, I am intrigued with the understandings in Kotter s 1st eight stage process: creating a sense of urgency. Kotter reviews ways to raise the urgency level. I considered possible ways to create urgency in an organization. If I am seeking to demonstrate urgency from a personal position, I must use my emotional intelligence to communicate the urgent relevancy to convince colleagues and individuals. To assemble, I could place members in areas and task groupings that reflect their core performance attributes. Assigning tasks from an aligned set of skills can help quicken the pace and stability of our goals and projects. I can monitor this process by

Due to the fact that recording music had a maximum of three to four minutes, Musicians had to drastically cut the time of their music to make more money. The phonograph was later called a gramophone and then it was known as the wax cylinder. The phonograph went out of style when the FM radio was invented and spread throughout American homes. In 1933, what thought to be just a dream, becomes a reality. Edwin Armstrong invented the FM radio, the first system to ever broadcast wirelessly was produced. The radio made music affordable for the consumer, because who would say free music is expensive to listen to. It was also portable as long as a person had a source of electric power, and it was repeatable because the stations got to choose what they believed the best songs were. Later on there were the cassette tape, then compact discs (CDs), and technology kept progressed wonderfully. The biggest invention that changed the way music was listened to even more is in 1990, when Karlheinz Brandenburg invented the Mp3. At some point in the late 90s, MP3 was technically the best system out

Much more simple and rugged, our very well informed tour guide told us that this rangy castle was built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order especially for battles as it is located on the border of Wallachia with Transylvania and was suffering from attacks all the time. Its narrow corridors, the low tunnel staircases and its complex construction like a labyrinth, allowed Romanians to fight the enemy with ease. In the following years, the castle was used as customs office as it is conveniently located on the Silk Road until it was taken by royal family in 1920. It initially became the residence of Queen Mary and after her death it was given to her daughter, Princess Iliana. It functioned as a hospital during World War II and then came into the possession of the communist regime with the eviction of the royal family in 1948. Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative process based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval dramawill be made apparent. Though both genres of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious motivations that impact the ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society; religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but strongly encouraged by the state. Oedipus death marked the ending of the preceding book, Oedipus at Colonus. Antigone, as reflected in the title, focuses on the life of Antigone, one of Oedipus daughters. Within the play, Antigone is faced with a major disagreement with her sister regarding the proper burial of their brother, Polyneices. Antigone and Ismene are characters that hold contrasting ideals and opinions in reference to the law of the gods v. the law of the state, family, loyalty, and the role of women in society; however, these characters come from the same background, so there are certain things that shape their reputation in the same ways. Lastly, the sisters have very different views on the role of women in society and the boundaries placed on women in society. In the time the play is set in, there is a clear patriarchy set in place. Burials are to be done by men; therefore, Antigone s plan to give her brother a proper burial herself is an outrageous act that has a serious legal consequence. Though her plan went against the accepted social paradigm of the time, she stayed true to her promise and went ahead with the burial. In the beginning of the play, when Antigone asks Ismene to accompany her in paying homage to their brother, Ismene uses their role in society as a reason not to do so. Remind ourselves that we are women and as such are not made to fight with men. (Roche 193.) In many ways, Antigone was assuming the role of a man in society, rather than a woman for women had little independence in their community. Antigone and Ismene are represented with totally different personalities. Antigone is a headstrong, relentless, independent woman who would do anything for her family. This is made evident in both her success in giving her brother a proper burial and in her loyalty to her father in Oedipus at

Oedipus exhibits excessive hubris throughout the play, especially when he claims he can escape the fate of his prophecy. This is evident when he commits blasphemy by asking himself why he is to study Apollo s oracle, or gaze at the birds screaming (Sophocles 53), not realizing that his excessive pride is leading him to his fate. Although he tries to exert his free will, he does not have a choice but to surrender himself after experiencing his downfall caused by his hubris. After learning the truth, he painfully realizes that his life is controlled only by fate, and cries out, Light, let this be the last time I see you (69). He punishes himself by surrendering and blinding himself, symbolizing his blindness to the truth when he had sight. Some psychological conflicts include him overthinking before putting himself into action, like when he misunderstands that King Claudius is praying (Shakespeare 3.3.81). The major difference lies in the fact that cooperative deals exclusively with traditional (canonical) knowledge while collaborative ties into the social constructivist movement, asserting that both knowledge and authority of knowledge have changed dramatically in the last century. The result has been a transition from foundational (cognitive) understanding of knowledge , to a nonfoundational ground where we understand knowledge to be a social construct and learning a social process (Brufee, Collaborative learning: Higher Education, Interdependence, and the Authority of Knowledge, 1993). Rockwood states: In the ideal collaborative environment, the authority for testing and determining the appropriateness of the group product rests with, first, the small group, second, the plenary group (the whole class) and finally (but always understood to be subject to challenge and revision) the requisite knowledge community (i.e. the discipline: geography, history, biology etc.) The concept of non foundational knowledge challenges not only the product acquired, but also the process employed in the acquisition of foundational knowledge. Most importantly, in cooperative, the authority remains with the instructor, who retains ownership of the task, which involves either a closed or a closable (that is to say foundational) problem ( the instructor knows or can predict the answer). In collaborative, the instructor once the task is set transfers

The motet can easily be confused with other musical structures but what separates the motet from other types of group performance based styles of music is a piece of music in several parts with words. 1 This is the closest definition of motet as can be said without overgeneralization and will operate from the beginning of the 13th century well into the late 16th century and beyond. Some scholars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Medieval motets tended to be isorhythmic; that is, they employed repeated rhythmic patterns in all voices not only the cantus firmus which did not necessarily coincide with repeating melodic patterns. 2 This new isorhythmic principle, brought on mostly by the composer Machaut, was used not only in the tenor voice but also rather with much more freedom in the upper voice parts. The application of discant over a cantus firmus marked the beginnings of this new revolutionary style, the motet, in Western music. The key motet composers in the medieval period were few in number; Phillip de Vitry and Machaut were one of the earliest composers to institute the isorhythmic technique, which set the style for other medieval composers like Willelmus de Winchecumbe. Guillaume de Machaut was a more famous named late medieval composer to institute the discant which caught on in other music styles and only helped to evolve the motet into its later stylings. These composers helped carry the motet to the new Flemish motet style. The Flemish style of motets marked the peak of the motet, in my opinion. The Flemish motet was more polished and refined while in contrast, the medieval motet was a diamond in the rough.

She is thought of not as someone to befriend, but as a member of the aristocracy, like a princess or queen of the town. She is far removed from the rest of society. As usual, common townspeople do not socialize with the high class citizens, so neither does the community get to know Miss Emily. The town puts together rumors they hear and forms the story of her life. At her funeral, all the people come and are talking of Miss Emily as if she had been a contemporary of theirs, believing they had danced with her and courted her perhaps, confusing time with its mathematical progression (58). However the true reason they go is not because she was a close friend. The people go for two reasons: the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her house (47). They view her as a tradition, a duty, and care; a sort of hereditary obligation upon the town (47). She is never a true, genuine person in anyone s mind, only an unreachable object. Analysis Of Where I m Calling From Thesis Statement: In Narration and Interiority in Raymond Carver s Where I m Calling From, Claudine Verley analyzes the narration in the short story and used it to deduce the character traits of the story s protagonist. Verley states that the setting in Where I m Calling From shows that Carver also struggled to overcome a drinking problem. In the short story, there is no personal detail of the narrator. The narrator s name remains a mystery, except for the fact that he is separated from his wife while at the same time he is not interested in his girlfriend (Verley 91). Verley thinks that Carver decided not to share any details of the narrator because he wants to escape his identity rather than reinforce it. Also, since there is no equivalent life force in the narrator s existence, this shows that he remains alone at the end, and thus making the claim that alcoholism is essentially inexplicable (Verley 91). There is an implicit comparison between the narrator and J.P and the narrator is constantly reminded of his personal adventures through Joe Penny s narration (Verley 91). Joe Penny is a man in his thirties and he is also an alcoholic. In the story, the narrator empathizes with Joe Penny because he is just like him. Joe Penny possesses an element that is in common with the narrator, an element that is beyond their alcoholism and presence at the rehabilitation facility. Joe Penny was dropped off at a rehabilitation center by his father in law and he tells a

The Theme of Isolation in Robert Frost s The Mending Wall Robert Frost s The Mending Wall is a comment on the nature of our society. In this poem, Frost examines the way in which we interact with one another and how we function as a whole. For Frost, the world is often one of isolation. Man has difficulty communicating and relating to one another. As a result, we have a tendency to shut ourselves off from others. In the absence of effective communication, we play the foolish game of avoiding any meaningful contact with others in order to gain privacy. The Mending Walldescribes two neighboring farmers who basically live in isolation, at least from one another. Frost s use of language reinforces the idea of isolation. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has learned that it is easier to shut someone out than to attempt to effectively communicate. While the narrator seems more willing to reach out to his neighbor, in the end, he does not. He does wonder why fences supposedly make good neighbors. For him, the question is what is he walling in or walling out ? He seems to realize that he is walling out other people. As long as the symbolic wall stands between the neighbors, they will always be separated. Earlier in the poem, Frost uses the symbolism of a rabbit to seemingly reinforce this point. The hunters must destroy the wall in order to have the rabbit out of hiding . The men, in turn must break down the walls between them if they are to come out of hiding . The narrator seems to have a desire to point this out to his neighbor. However, he does not, simply dismissing his idea as the mischief that spring has instilled in him. He realizes that he is unable to communicate with his neighbor in any meaningful fashion and, thus, remains in isolation from him. Frost considers the interaction between the two men to be nothing more than a foolish game. He uses language which makes the process of wall mending seem structured and organized in the manner of a game. The two men walk the line as they keep the wall between us as we go . Frost makes the men seem like opponents in this kind of outdoor game , as they are positioned one on a side . Thus as they work together,

The two foundational principles of the city that Socrates creates, The City of Pigs** as Glaucon calls it, that eventually grows into the ideal city are self sufficiency and one person one art, referred to today as specialization. Due to the fact that individual people are not self sufficient*, that is they are not able to survive on their own without the help of other people, the citizens of the citymust take up a profession and utilize trade. This city contains the bare necessities, and the professions reflect that. Glaucon argues that no person would want to live in a city such as this one. He argues that If [the citizens of the city] aren t to suffer hardships, they should recline on proper couches, dine at a table, and have the delicacies and desserts that people have nowadays. The luxurious city, because it has poetry, music, art, desserts, comfortable furniture, prostitutes, and other delicacies, contains a much larger amount of people than did the healthy city. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People at the savage reservation are less controlled because their culture and society is less structured due to its small size. The general leader has less to worry about when leading a small group rather than a large population in terms of riots, wars, and revolutions, therefore major control is unnecessary. In the World State however, the population is immense because of their method of creating babies in test tubes. To sustain peace, happiness, and the feeling of utopia, the government uses its control to give everyone in the same class the same opinion. This is done through conditioning, which includes forcing babies to associate electric shocks to certain items and hypnopædia. In the beginning of the book, the Director says The child s mind is these suggestions, and the sum of the suggestions is the child s mind... but all these suggestions are our suggestions! (Huxley 29) when describing why hypnopædia is used on the children as they grow up. This quote shows how the government s opinions are forced into the entire population s head as they grow up and that they are proud to be controlling their minds. This method may prevent wars over different beliefs and make everyone satisfied that they are in their assigned social class, but it also takes away individuality and freedom. Anarres is also heavily populated, so the Odonians are taught to believe that the people on Urras are corrupt and evil to keep them from wanting to leave Anarres or make contact with Urras. The extent of this belief is seen when Shevek explains why he might not return from Urras by stating, Anybody outside Defense could make explosives with blasting powder and blow up the ship on the ground. People are too into thin is in idea, not seeing that fat can be beautiful. As a person who doesn t belong in the thin category, I strongly believe that I can be healthier without changing my size dramatically. It s true that there are many health issues to consider when a person is fat, but it is also true that many thin people have just as many problems. Many people strive to become thin to look beautiful and can be accepted by our societies, especially models and dancers. Many of them have eating disorders that definitely does not make them healthy. Therefore because of the shortage of stocks, prices rose to sky high levels (Galbraith, 1977 p 69). It cannot be proven that stocks were overrated at the time of the crash. Yet there is prove that speculative gamblers are not to be blamed for the crash. Knowledgeable investors were just too optimistic in the stocks and therefore this led to the burst (Bierman, 1991 p 175). Laura Agadoni supports this cause in her research paper (Agadoni, n.d). It was not seen at first hand in October 1929 if stocks were overvalued. The market functioned well; investors and speculators were buying stocks (Bierman, 1997 p.
