verberant mixture. In 16 a minimum mean square error (MMSE) based technique is
planned to estimate the ideal multi threshold mask (IMM) that has been utilized in the
realm of monaural speech improvement. It contains 2 stages, specifically training stage
and enhancement stage. Within the training stage, a man made neural network is trained
by exploitation the SNR of every T F unit of training information. Second stage uses the
calculated SNR to estimate IMM and to separate the target speech from clamant signal.
This analysis work proposes a method to scale back the impact of musical noise pro

applications. Genetic algorithmic rule (GA) is employed during this work to search out
the optimum soft mask weights between 0 and 1. the objective measures like S/N
improvement and perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) are used to measure
the performance of planned optimum soft mask with the prevailing IBM 22 and IMM16
based speech separation systems. Rest of the paper is organized in the following manner.
Section two provides an outline of computational auditory scene analysis (CASA).
Section three presents the proposed optimum soft mask based speech separation system.
Section four provides the experimental results of IBM, IMM and also the planned soft
mask. Section five deals with the conclusion and future work.

Nurture Nature Vs Nature
The debate between nature and nurture addresses genetic and environmental determinants
and which principles apply to our lives. Humans are affected by choices made by others
and ourselves and things that are meant to happen. Free will is being able to make a
choice to do something on our own or to act in certain situations independently of natural,
social, or divine restraints (Encyclopedia Britannica). Social cues are verbal or nonverbal
hints that are meant to guide peers about their actions, the conversation they re having,
etc.. Determinismis the belief that everything is naturally connected to the universe and
every event happens because of the events that came before it. Fatalism follows the belief
that events occur naturally, but without influence of humans. Nurture is a greater
influences on our lives than nature; humans operate upon the principles of free will, social
cues, and determinism. Determinism supports the idea that our outcomes are based
on our choices and that they are meant to happen that way. An example of one s
deterministic view is Brent Staples describing the ways he unintentionally frightened
those around him in public and he would go out of his way to make them feel safer. It
s unfair that an accomplished college graduate should be judged for their appearance,
as well as anyone else for that matter. Staples had no obligation to act the way he did, but
in order to keep himself safe, he could not pose a threat and get away with it as a black
Use Of Software Requirements Specification ( Srs )
V.WHY TO USE TOOLS FOR RM Most project teams generally use software
requirements specification (SRS) to document their requirements in natural language.
However, a document based approach has some limitations: a document is difficult to
keep current especially if it is a long one, it is hard to communicate changes to the team
members who are affected by that change, it is difficult to associate supplementary
information with each requirement and it is hard to define links between requirements
and its decompositions or corresponding artifacts [7].You may do a great job at
capturing all requirements in a SRS document at the beginning of a project but as
development progresses, changes in SRS may become unmanageable and hard to track.
This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classifying requirements according to attributes also helps team members who have
different roles to view requirements from different viewpoints. For e.g. Developers may
want to view requirements by difficulty and testers may want to view requirements by
priority. RM tools make requirement traceability easier by providing the functionality to
link requirements with other requirements or components. Traceability makes it easier to
estimate the impact of a change in subsequent phases when it happens in one phase.
Figure 2: Impact of changing one requirement specification As shown in Figure 2 above,
if there is a change in one requirement specification requested, then with the linkages
already present between requirements and their corresponding phases, we can guess the
complexity involved. For the example shown, if there is a change of 1 requirement
specification, 7 design and 10 implementation requirements may be affected. Although
not all of the linked requirements may be impacted but this can give managers a fair
idea of the complexity involved with changing of a requirement. Link traceability can
also exist when requirements are decomposed from one stage to another. For e.g. Figure
3: Requirement decomposition traceability example [1] Each requirement has a unique
identifier associated with it so that traceability can be established. In the example above,
a requirement E1 which is

An Essay On Houston Texas
HousВ·toВ·niВ·an, a native resident of Houston, Texas. This term is popular in more
states than Texas. There s a saying that Everything is bigger and better in Texas.
Houston is the fourth largest city in America behind Nevada and ahead of New Mexico.
Now that is big. People that are born in Texas are natives, and therefore Houstonian.
There are several races that call Houstonhome like Hispanics, Asians, Blacks and
Europeans. There is also a refugee population in Houston from places like Afghanistan,
Iraq, and Somalia. However, any person that lives in the culture and experiences the
culture to the extent that they consider themselves native can also be called a
Houstonian. Houstonian is not a term. Houstonian is a way of life, a culture, and an
identity. Technically a Houstonian is anyone native to the city of Houston, Texas
. As
vague as that may be, this surprisingly includes all kinds of nationalities and races.
Houston is melting pot city and many families are started here. As long as you have
lived in the city for a minimum time, or have been born in Houston that makes you a
Houstonian. Usually natives are born into a family of natives as well but other times it
is a generation that starts the path going forward. There is no particular face of a
Houstonian, or style of dress for that matter. A Houstonian is recognized by their comfort
in the city. Houstonians a proud of their city and often rally often at festivals and events
to celebrate that culture of a fun and
Christian Inaccuracies In The Bible
Introduction
Every day people are introduced to the Bible, whether it be through Christians or non
Christians. Christians will try to convince people that the Bible is true, while non
Christians will
say that there are too many inaccuracies in the Bible for it to be true. As Christians, we
should
take a look at what the other side has to say, so we are aware of what others believe and
so that
we can accurately talk about the other side s claims. Another reason that Christians should
conduct their own research on the accuracy is so they can defend their faith and know
why they
believe what they believe. There are many people in our would today that believe certain
facts
and information to be true only because friends or family ... Show more content on

This account was an early example that shows us that even before Jesus came, God the
Father performed miracles. Through research Dr. Gary Habermas, a scholar in New
Testament
history and has conducted lots of research for providing sound evidence to support the
New
Testament, discovered that many agree and recognize Jesus miracles dealing with
healings and
exorcisms, but deny the nature miracles. The fact that Jesus miracles are listed and
discussed
in each of the Gospels show proof that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary
Habermas
stated, medical studies of certain miraculous phenomena today indicate that we are still
not
able to account for all such incident in purely naturalistic terms. That statement from Dr.
Habermas shows that one cannot account for the miracles through naturalistic elements,
but rather have to acknowledge that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary
Habermas is not the
only person that has looked into the miracles of Jesus. Craig Keener, a professor of New
Testament at Ashbury Theological Seminary, has also provided evidence through Jesus

Roald Dahl s Legacy
Roald Dahl is Known by many names. The word wizard, the man who says it all. But
he had to work for this worldwide recognition. Many can trace their childhood
memories to one of his books, but sadly he is no longer alive. His legacy, however,
lives on in the hearts of millions of kids and adults worldwide.Roald Dahl created
impactful books, applied past knowledge to current events, and illuminated the faces of
countless children reading his tales of adventure and magic.
To start off, he created a large range of books from fantasy to non fiction. He liked
literature from the beginning, but after he crashed a war plane and nearly lost his nose,
writing seemed better and better. His first book ever published was actually for adults. He
had success and published another book for the adults, but later moved to the ... Show

He wrote in his adult books and in his autobiography about his childhood memories,
and of his time in the military (Roald Dahl, [Gale] 2008. His books tell a first hand
experience of fighting. One debate over him is whether or not his books were too
explicit for children to read. This debate was mostly put to rest when he said that he
was just saying what he meant. To bring it to the end, he died in 1990. His tale of
overcoming an obstacle, and all his books, help him be immortalized in history. His
death was sad for millions and he was missed dearly by friends, family, and even some
who did not know him personally. Four out of five adults will have read or seen
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His books illuminated the smiles on children s
faces worldwide, and he is missed dearly. In conclusion, this one man has paved his
road to fame and beat his own drum as he lived the life of an honored military man and
won many awards. Roald Dahl created many great books, innovated by applying past
knowledge to past events, and illuminated hope for a good life in children everywhere

Lysander Rebellion Causes
The disturbance that would fling open the doors of fate started out with an incident of
the small kingdom of Darna was invaded by Drow barbarians. The queen of the Drow
Mananan went out to explain that the situation was an isolated incident and to avoid war
with the Grandbell empire. However on her way to see them, she was assassinated by
Duke Reptor and Langabolt of Grandbell, prompting the Princeof Isaac to declare war on
Grandbell, sending off his sister and young son so that they might avoid the conflict.
With Isaac declaring war Kurt, the imperial prince of Grandbell, had little choice but to
lead his nation into war, bringing with him all the dukes and their armies.
While the armies of Grandbell were away doing battle with the drows however, a
disturbance started up on their eastern border. The wood elf kingdom of Verdane, long
standing allies of Grandbell, turned traitor when prince Gandolf launched a raid,
kidnapping lady Aideen of House ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, a victory celebration had been prepared for him in the capital city.
Overjoyed and tired, Lysander and his army rode to Bellhala, where Duke Alvis was
waiting for them. Alvis congratulated him for his effort but informed Lysander he
would not be meeting the king today. It is at this point Alvis reveals to him that he
was still guilty in the eyes of the empire for the murder of prince Kurt, and that his
sentence was death. Before that though, Alvis allowed Lysander to meet Prince
Deirde one last time, introducing her as his new wife. Shocked and in grief, Lysander
is barely given time to try and explain what is happening before Deirde is taken away.
Then as meteors are rained down on the forces of Lysander s army, Lysander is
incinerated personally by Alvis s
Elements Of Dracula
During the Victorian era people enjoyed gothic horror because of the industrialization
of the time in which they lived. Dracula is a very popular book that rivals Frankenstein
in popularity. The book sold 3,000 copies in the first printing. Dracula is a dark gothic
horror novel written by Bram Stoker in 1897. Stoker uses many setting elements to add
to the gothic nature of the novel which are a ruined castle, fog/mist, and blood. To start
with, an example of Stoker s use to set the setting in a gothic nature is the use of a ruined
castle. The ruined castle gives the setting the impression of being ancient. Stoker wanted
to give the reader the hint that in the ancient places are terrible mysteries that could be
hiding there just waiting to jump
Proposed Health Care Plans Of Two 2016 Presidential...
It is highly visible that the United States lacks an affordable, universal health care plan.
Compared to other countries America is lagging behind. The improvement of access to
care has become of high importance to the betterment of society and the country s health
care outcome. This paper will describe the three major problems that exist in the United
Stateshealth care. In addition, it will explore the proposed health care plans of two 2016
presidential candidates and the position they take in regards the big issues.
The uninsured and acquiring access to health care is one of the problems that the
United States faces in regards to health care. An obstacle that individuals face is that
gaining access to health care is linked to having a job. However, the problem does not
stop there. The problem continues in the form that not every job gives people access to
health care. Many employers will stop from offering individuals full time status because
then they would have to offer some type of insurance plan. Thus, employers often hire
people as part time so as to not have to face giving people benefits they may deem too
costly. Inherently, people are finding themselves without insurance due to the fact that
acquiring health care is contingent on having a job. What does this mean for the jobless?
Based on the linkage between health care access and being employed, it is rather visible
that the unemployed would be faced with being uninsured and difficulty acquiring access.
The
Negative Events Of The 1980s
Although the 1980s was a wonderful decade, there were some negative events. The 1980s
contained many assassinations, such as John Lennon, Anwar Sadat, Marvin Gaye, Indira
Gandhi, and Olof Palme
John Lennon, an English musician, was a member of the legendary rock band, the
Beatles. Mark David Chapman assassinated him at only forty years old. He shot two
bullets in the left side of Lennon s back and another two bullets in his left shoulder
with a Charter Arms .38 caliber pistol. He was declared dead when he arrived at
Roosevelt Hospital. The murder took place in the archway of The Dakota in New
York, New York on December 8,1980. On December 10, 1980 he was cremated at the
Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York. Lennon s ashes were... Show more content

he wasn t officially declared dead until 12:06 a.m. on March 1, 1986. The assassin shot
one bullet in Olof s back which was identified as fatal. A subsequent shot wounded his
Olof s wife, Lisbet Palme. The assassination happened in Stockholm, Sweden when he
and his wife were walking home from the Grand Cinema. They went to the Grand
Cinema without bodyguards because Palme wanted to live a life as ordinary as
possible, in spite of his position as Prime Minister. He was buried at the Adolf Fredrik

and how this brand has established itself in Japan as the leading luxury brand.
Product: First it is important to say that Japanese people appreciate brands with long
history and tradition and this is one of the reasons why Louis Vuitton is very
successful in Japan. The French know how in luxury is an argument very important
appreciated by Japanese people. For them, Louis Vuitton is the symbol of French
luxury. Moreover, the Japanese love the high quality products. Indeed, they generally
have small houses but they love to wear quality and luxury items. The main successful
product in Japan is the Louis Vuitton bags. Japanese appreciate Louis Vuitton bag
because it is never out of fashion. Indeed, the models are approximately the same since
many years, unlike its competitors who create every year, a new collection. When
Japanese people buy a bag, they are sure that the bag will not be soon out dated and
that they could keep their product for a very long time. Almost all Japanese have a

Syntactic And Morphological Skills In Autism
Introduction The focus of the study was on how children with autism develop syntactic
and morphological skills and if they apply alternative ways of learning such as
memorization techniques in order to make up for the lack of normal morphological
processing and if they learn grammatical morphemes in an unusual form. Previous studies
have proposed the idea that children with autism present unusual syntactic and
morphological skills; however, there is not sufficient information available on this topic.
Existing studies have yet to indicate how these skills differentiate to children with
developmental delay without autism. Moreover, the question of this research is
important for deciding whether language impairments are merely linked to autism or
developmental delay. Three different hypotheses were presented by the researchers of
this study. The first hypothesis explained that children with autism would obtain lower
scores on the tests measuring morphological and syntactic skills than children without
autism and developmental delay. The second hypothesis was that children with autism
would obtain lower scores on the tests measuring the ability to apply plural... Show more

This hypothesis was not supported by the results. When looking for differences between
the three groups in their ability to use plural inflections to non words, none were found. It
was suggested that not fully understanding the task and its requirements was a possible
cause for the normal developing children to obtain a large variety of scores. The results
reveal that the groups with autism and developmental delay without autism both have
difficulty applying past tense inflections which may create the task of applying past tense
inflections to non words more
Physician-assisted Suicide is Murder Essay
Jeanette Hall once had the desire to die; a desire so strong, she even asked her doctor
for help. Jeanette lives in Oregon, where assisted suicide is legal. On July 17, 2000,
Jeanette was rushed to the Portland hospital only to be given a maximum time of
survival: six months. She had been diagnosed with an inoperable form of colon cancer.
Jeanette had a fear of losing her job, not being able to care for her loved ones, paying
hospital bills, and suffering. It was her choice to die and was prepared to reject
chemotherapy and radiation, but thankfully, Jeanette s doctor, Dr. Kenneth Stevens,
encouraged her to fight. Jeanette claims, If he [Dr. Stevens] believed in physicianassisted
suicide, I would not be here 13 years later to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The difference between the two methods is the initiation or act of death; euthanasia, the
doctor initiates death, whereas in physician assisted suicide, the patient willingly takes
the medication, therefore, committing suicide with the help of the doctor s prescription
(Marker 1). Because euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are relatively similar in
purpose and function, they will be used in correlation to each other when discussing the
use and concerns.
With states having the option to choose legalization, the few that have the law in place
limit its use to terminally ill patients (Ardelt 5). Terminal illness is defined as a disease
that cannot be cured or adequately treated and is expected to result in death of the
patient within a short time (Benjamin 4). Most recent is Vermont, which legalized
assisted suicide in May 2013, making legalization relevant to today s society and issues
with the possibility of more states legalizing these methods (Benjamin 3). With millions
of patients being diagnosed with terminal illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, and
fatal accidents, both those patients and their families are exposed to the compelling
aspects of euthanasia and physician assisted suicide (Swarte 2). Euthanasia and physician
assisted suicide should not be legalized in the United States due to safety concerns,
economic challenges, and society s outlook on these
Address To The Young Men s Lyceum Of Springfield Summary
Throughout the course of American history, we have faced a wide variety of dangers.
Some of those dangers threaten the very existence of our government. Abraham Lincoln
saw the greatest source of danger coming from within our own country. In his Address
to the Young Men s Lyceum of Springfield, he declared, If destruction be our lot, we
must ourselves be its author and finisher. The dangers that we have faced have come
from the uncontrolled desires of ambitious men. These men often have no true regard for
the laws of the nation. They place their own importance before that of their fellow man.
These men perpetuate a continuing disregard for the law. Obedience to law is essential
for the preservation of America. Theodore Roosevelt... Show more content on

He challenged the idea that property rights were superior to human rights. The
unequal distribution of resources needed to be addressed. Roosevelt asserted, the
resources of the earth were placed here for the use of man in the mass ... they are not
to be sized by a few for the purpose of oppression of the many. Changes in the
relationship between business and property were needed to preserve the rights of man.
The society that has been dominated by the interests of businesses and the select few
was detrimental to America s prosperity. A balance business and property would
benefit all involved, and perpetuate the success of America. Much of the strife in
America resulted from the victimization of the poor; however, with the redistribution of
resources, equality would be obtainable for all Americans. All people must have the
power to make effective changes in society. The fundamental component that allows for
democracy is the right of self governance. Lincoln and Roosevelt both believed that the
power of the government should be held by the people. By promoting political
involvement by the citizenry, democratic ideas flourish when the voices of the people
can be heard. The basis of democracy is to promote the liberties and freedoms of the
Hamlet, Misfits And The Art Of Battling Giants
Williams Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, describes the tragic death of King Hamlet, whose
son, very depressed and impacted by the death of his father, seeks revenge in his honor.
The King s son, Hamlet, constantly mourns his father and is depressed about how no one
else seems to be mourning causing him to break his relationships with his familybecause
he keeps to himself, rather than voicing his suffering to others in effort to heal, ultimately
inhibiting and perpetuating his depressive state. Malcolm Gladwell disagrees with Hamlet
s way of handling grief and suggests a more proactive way to improve his situation.

Ophelia represents the future he could have if he is willing to improve and overcome
his pain. Although he is aware of the possibility of a future, he slowly breaks his ties
with her as he realizes he will not have a future at the end of his plot. After he sees the
ghost for the first time and believes the story it provides, he starts to dress and act
strangely. Ophelia describes these changes in appearance, when she says: No hat
upon his head, his stockings fouled, /Ungartered, and down gyved to his ankles, /Pale
as his shirt, his knees knocking each other (Shakespeare II.I, 89 91). Hamlet comes
into Ophelia s room in a distressed state, after seeing the ghost, but he is unwilling to
talk to her. This concerns her because she is used to him being open with her and being
dressed in formal clothing. When Hamlet does not speaking to Ophelia is the
relationship begins to fall apart because he does not want to confide to the person he
loves about his encounter and turmoil. Choosing not to communicate his problems to his
girlfriend sets their relationship up for failure because they need to be able to speak to

relationship close, but their lack of communication creates a barrier. She decides to
break up with him because she wants a future and if he does
Brown Sugar Vs White Sugar Differences
Sugar plays a fundamental role in cooking and especially in baking. Aside from
sweetness, it can provide coloring as well as moisture and bulk. Brown sugar and white
sugar provide these things to different degrees but how different are they from each
other? Do they taste the same? Can you use one in place of the other? We answer these
questions and more in this installment of SPICEography Showdown. Do white and
brown sugartaste the same?
Brown sugar gets both its color and its flavor from molasses. The more molasses it
contains, the darker it is and the more molasses flavor it has. This means that dark brown
sugar contains more molasses and has a stronger molasses taste when compared to light
brown sugar, while white sugar has no molasses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

No. Technically, yes. Molasses does provide some nutrients in the form of minerals
like calcium, iron and magnesium. These minerals are present but are in such tiny
amounts that there is barely any difference between the two types of sugar as far as
their nutritional value is concerned. Another factor is the fact that molasses does make
brown sugar soak up more moisture. The result is that it does have marginally fewer
calories if you compare the two types of sugar on an ounce for ounce basis. The
difference is not significant enough to be the basis of a decision between them. Which
dishes are better fits for brown sugar and which are better for white sugar?
White sugar is the main form of sugar used in most American households. It is versatile
enough to be used for most baking applications and can be converted to brown sugar if
necessary. It is used for sweetening coffee and tea as well as for making light colored
sauces and salad dressings. Many of brown sugar s uses lie in the area of baking where it
is the primary sweetener and coloring for dishes like ginger bread and banana bread. It is
also used for cooking savory dishes like hams and roasted meats where it is used to

Critical Appreciation Of Adrienne Rich
From working hard to accomplish the high expectations that her parents had always
enforced on her, to outstandingly fulfilling those standards set, Adrienne Rich was able
to exceed as not only a feminist writer but as an activist for women. In her poem Aunt
Jennifer s Tigers, and her book Snapshots of a Daughter In Law, Rich exposes the phases
women encounter throughout their life. Subsequently, from the early influence her
parents had on her, to her involvement in other areas, Rich used her voice highly and
became known as one of the most provocative voices throughout women s movements. At
a very young age Rich was brought up by her parents to exceedingly high standards. With
both her parents actively encouraging her to pursue writing her own poetry. Rich held to
excel the standards set by her overtly demanding father. Rich wanted nothing more but
approval from him and as soon as she began to write poetry, her father saw the potential
she had in her.
Her father at the young age that he saw her write then went on to supply her with works
from great writers such as Henrik Ibsen, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and poets like Christina
Rossetti.
Her father encouraged her to read and write from a very young age and home tutored
her. She spent a great deal of her time in her father s library which was stocked with
works of great writers. She worked hard to fulfil her father s wishes, and by the time she
was twenty two, she come out with her first collection of poems, A Change of

COO of the NHL, and Rick Dudley, COO of NHL Enterprises,1 met in their New York
office to chart a strategy for marketing the NHL in 1995 and beyond. After a
spectacular 1993 94 season, the NHL s 1994 95 season had been somewhat mixed; the
league had suffered a labor dispute and played an abbreviated season. But there had been
important achievements. For the first time in over 20 years the NHL had a network
television contract in the United States. Fan support for the shortened season had been
surprisingly resilient with attendance averaging 95% for the league ... Show more content

As one NHL team general manager remarked, You have 10 big men moving at 30
mph, chasing a 3 inch diameter puck, and shooting it at 100 mph, so sometimes you
lose sight of the puck if you re new to the game. But if you are a fan, what a thrill it can
be. The 26 teams in the league are organized into an Eastern and Western Conference.
Within each of the conferences are two divisions: the Atlantic and the Northeast in the
Eastern Conference, and the Central and the Pacific in the Western Conference. The
teams play an 82 game regular season from October to April, followed by four rounds
of playoffs where teams play a bestof seven game series to advance to the next round.
The eight teams in each conference with the best regular season records (including
division leaders) play three rounds to determine the conference winner. Finally, the two
conference champions compete for the Stanley Cup, the trophy awarded for over a
century to North America s best hockey team.
History
The National Hockey League was formed in 1917, from teams that took the ice that
season. During the following two decades teams entered and exited, leaving six
survivors by 1943, (Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Chicago
Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Toronto Maple Leafs) who went on to be
known as The Original Six. These teams were extremely successful and responsible for
much of hockey s lore and legend. From 1947 1951 the Toronto Maple Leafs won four
Stanley Cups in five
Perception In 12 Angry Men
The 1957 film 12 Angry Men directed by Sidney Lumet explores the subject matter of
perception in human beings. By using concepts from the Theory of Knowledge, the
film can be dissected by various philosophical and psychological angles. A jury of
twelve must decide the fate of a young Hispanic boy who has been accused of
murdering his father. After the trial, eleven of the twelve jurors are convinced he is
guilty only Henry Fondabelieves otherwise. The whole film then moves on to explore
the individual psychologies of each juror and reason behind why they chose to cast
their votes in such a way. Slowly Fonda begins to turn them round with the aid of a few
other jurors who use their knowledge, previous experiences and reason as stimulus for
doubt. In this is essay I will be discussing emotion, reason and sense... Show more

Problems faced when the jurors attempted to reach the final agreement, emotions, sense
perception and reason were held highly accountable. It allowed insight into particular
evidence held different viewpoints and biased opinions that challenged the jurors to
rely mainly on logical reasoning to arrive at the best conclusion. The events expressed
in this film showed the challenges and flaws in judging a person to be one sided. The
extent of reason being highly favored more was prevalent. They might not have a
conclusive answer, but through reason and logic, Fonda was able to create reasonable
doubt that significantly changed the conviction. Additionally, it was difficult to validate
the jurors decisions on the vote in their emotional state with biased and fallacious
reasoning. Sense perception allows us to raise questions whether we know anything or
whether our logic is justifiable because the evidence was based on reasonable doubt. The
witnesses might have told the truth and that boy was the criminal but we don t know if

Introduction Of The Crystal Palace
INTRODUCTION
It was like like nothing but itself, unsurpassable, indescribable, unique, amazing, real!
Talli s History and Description of the Crystal Palace and the Exhibition of the World s
Industry in 1851
From 1837 to 1901, under the reign of Queen Victoria, Great Britain, with the
supremacy of its Royal Navy, had largely fulfilled its ambition of global imperial
expansion in Asia and Africa particularly. As the British Empiresoon became the largest
empire in history, this era was later known as the Victorian Era(John 129).
To further unite nations and demonstrate an imperial industrial and economic leadership
of the world, Queen Victoria s husband, Prince Albert organized the first world s fair,
namely, The Great Exhibitionof the Works of Industry of All Nations , at the Crystal
Palace in Hyde Park, London, from May 1 to October 15 in 1851 (Celik 1). Not only
did the diversity of the foreign goods displayed at the exhibition astonish the publics, but
also the Crystal Palace, designed by Joseph Paxton and Owen Jones, as the striking
structure that housed these articles attracted millions of visitors around the world during
1851 (Fig. 1). Later after the exhibition, the foreign articles were transferred to the South
Kensington Museum (Crinson 65) as part of the Imperial archive (Barringer 11), to
promote industrial and commercial education among domestic artisans and skilled
labourers in the next fifty years, with a hope that the nation s economic growth
What Are The Benefits Of Raising The Driving Age To Drive...
Too Young to Drive
The other night I received a call in the middle of the night from my best friend. Her
older brother, Vijay had been in a terrible car accident, and even though the doctors
said he would live, it was going to be a long and painful recovery. Vijay is 16 years
old, and like most kids his age had eagerly awaited being old enough to get his driver s
license. At the time of the accident, two of Vijay s friends were passengers in his car.
The friends admitted that they had been changing the radio station and goofing around
while Vijay was driving, and that he may have been distracted when he veered into
oncoming traffic. This car accident is proof that driving and minors do not mix. Raising
the legal driving age to 18 will save lives.
Statistics show the potential for danger every time a teenager gets behind the wheel.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), car crashes are
the leading cause of death for teens in the United States. In fact, drivers between the ages
of 16 and 19 are three times more likely to be in a deadly car crash than older drivers. In
2010, seven teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 died every day from car related
injuries. In addition, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety states that the drivers ...

Almost every teenager I know won t leave home without his or her cell phone, tablet,
or mp3 player. Government statistics prove that distracted driving is responsible for
thousands of car crashes every year. I know some teenagers that text and drive, despite
all of the warnings. They truly believe that they are careful enough to do both, even
though taking their eyes off the road for just a few seconds could have tragic results.
Teenagers would benefit from a couple of more years to fully understand how important
it is to keep their eyes on the road and concentrate on their
Analysis Of The Book Murtagh And Huckleberry Finn
Murtagh and Huck Finn
In great works of literature many of the same traits and characteristics appear in the main
characters. Adventure books where you find Heroes and villains in a constant struggle to
thwart the others efforts are where you could notice the reoccurring traits the most.
Heroes are often very similar, demonstrating similar strengths and weaknesses. I compare
Huckleberry Finn, to Murtagh of the Inheritance series. Although Murtagh is not the
main protagonist, he is most certainly a fallen hero, in my book once a hero always a
hero. As long as they are remembered for what they were and not what they are, a hero
they will remain. I hope in time I will be able to lead you down the path of similarities
and differences between these two amazing characters and heroes. These similarities
include characters such as courage, and a desire to be what they want to be to go where
they want to go.
One of the many traits these characters have in common is their stories. What they
went through, and how they were raised. Murtagh s mother died when he was young
and he was raised by a father who cared nothing for him. When his father died Murtagh
was taken in by the king who was determined to mold Murtagh into man the king
thought Murtagh should be. Huck s story is almost the same. Huck s mother died when
he was young. Huck s father, Pap, was a drunk and cared nothing for Huckleberry Finn.
Pap left Huck and Huck was taken in by a woman who was determined to mold
General Eisenhower Research Paper
Introduction Paragraph
Can you recall any famous American generals of World War II? Two that come to mind
are General Douglas MacArthur and General Dwight Eisenhower. General Eisenhower
was definitely a more important general than General MacArthur. He was a more
important general because he was a supreme commander and also led the largest invasion
in World War history.
Body Paragraph 1
General Eisenhower was a very important General of World War II because he was a
supreme commander. General Eisenhower worked hard and accomplished many things
which appointed him as a supreme commander. In the article, Eisenhower takes
command it stated, As supreme commander of a mixed force of Allied nationalities,
services, and equipment, Eisenhower designed a system of unified command and
rapidly won the respect of his British and Canadian subordinates. This evidence shows
that as a supreme commander, General Eisenhower accomplished many things in the
war field and was able to gain respect from many other nations. This supports my reason
because he was able to show his amazing abilities as a supreme commander which made
him one of the greatest generals of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This invasion lead to the ending of World War II and was commanded by no other than
General Eisenhower. In the article, General Dwight D. Eisenhower launches Operation
Overlord it stated, On June 8, 1944, after years of planning, preparation and placating
egos among his military peers, Eisenhower was able to report that the Allies had made
a harrowing and deadly, but ultimately successful, landing on the beaches of Normandy.
This evidence shows that General Eisenhower used very smart tactics and had major
preparation in order to successfully invade Europe. This supports my reason because he
was able to conduct such a large operation all by himself and played a major role in
ending World War
Describe A Memorable Moment In The Play
Describe a compelling or memorable moment in the play and evaluate what made it so
compelling/memorable. Consider script, performance, and spectacle factors in your
discussion. [5 significant sentences minimum] One memorable moment in the play was
when Clairee yelled in outrage and her voice sort of cracked. It made the whole
audience burst into laughter and it was my favorite part of the play. I remember the look
on each of the faces of the characters. Everyone was so connected and serious, but at
the drop of the hat (or shall I say the line) all of the women had delightful smiles on
their faces and their heads were tilted back from laughing. Clairee s body was uptight
and straight as a board and she stomped her foot as she said the line. After, she still was
stick straight but laughing like the rest of them.
Which actor was compelling to you? And what was the name of the character the actor
played? The actress was most compelling to me was Madeline Ritter, and she portrayed
the character, Shelby.
Describe 2 moments in the play (one from Act 1 and one from Act 2 or from earlier and
later in the play, if there was no intermission) where the actor s portrayal seemed
compelling. Be sure to include what the actor did especially how the actor used his/her
face, voice and body to bring the character to life in these moments. [5 significant
sentences minimum] The first compelling moment was from Act 1. This is where Shelby
tells her mom that she is pregnant. The
Hadrian s Influence On The Roman Empire
When he was young, Hadrian was classically taught in his hometown of Italica
Hispania (modern day Seville, Spain) and went to Rome at around 14 years old. His
first military service was as Tribune under Emperor Nerva. When Nerva died, Trajan
rose and took the throne. Emperor Trajan was the first Roman emperor who was born in
a province, not Romeit self. Later biographers would attempt to place the birth of Trajan
and Hadrian in the city of Rome but because both had Hispanic ethnicity this has been
assumed by some to be the reason that Trajan adopted Hadrian as his successor (though
scholars dispute this). Trajan died on campaign in Cilicia in 117 CE, while Hadrian was
command of his rear guard, and he was not believed to have been named successor...

He set up urban communities all through the Balkan Peninsula, Egypt, Asia Minor, and
Greece. His affection for Greece and Greek writing was to such an extent that he was
known as `Graeculus (Greekling) in his childhood and his philhellenism did not
disperse with age. He went to Greece two times (most likely more) and took an interest
in the Eleusinian Mysteries, of which he was a member of. The Arch of Hadrian, built by
the residents of Athens in 131/132 CE, respect Hadrian as the originator of the city.
Engravings on the curve name Theseus (the mythological founder) yet add Hadrian
inferable from the last s considerable commitments to Athens, (for example, the Temple
of Zeus). He committed various locales in Greece to his young sweetheart Antinous, who
died in the Nile River in 130 CE. Hadrian was profoundly connected to Antinous and the
young fellow s demise so incredibly influenced Hadrian that he had him revered as a god.
In Egypt he established the city of Antinopolis in his memory. In Rome he revamped the
Pantheon (which had been burnt down) and Trajan s Forum and in addition financing
development of different structures, showers, and estates. A significant number of these
structures survived in place for quite a long time, some as late as the nineteenth century
CE, and the Pantheon, still consummately protected, can be still be seen today. Hadrian
had an incredible enthusiasm for engineering and
Mixed Breed Dog Research Paper
While I love the stray, mixed breed dog (always appreciative of what you offer them in
a home) as well as the pure breed dogs I have owned such as Poodles, German
Shepherds, Pekingese, and Yorkshire Terriers, it is the SHIH TZU (pronounced
SHEET sue) that has made the biggest impression on me; an impression that guarantees
that I will always maintain at least one of this breed in my home at all times. If there is
a more adorable puppy body on the planet than the Shih Tzu, I have not seen it. Golden
Retriever puppies are Americana, Maltese pups are breathtaking, and bulldogs are regal
and striking, but no dogbreed compares to the chrysanthemum faced heartbreaker known
as the Shih Tzu. Their charm has no equal and their style and loving... Show more content

They protect cattle and flocks as well as herd them for shepherds. It has similar looks
to a Pariah dog which hints they have some sort of linage to each other. Not much is
known about the aidi due to it being rare and not often seen in other countries. They
can however be a friendly and loyal house pet. Appearance Aidi dogs are of medium
height and can weigh around forty to fifty pounds. They have a thick double coat
which protects them from harsh weather. They come in many colors from white,
sable, black, spotted, tri colored, and beige. Their shaggy ears and big eyes give them
a cute appearance, as well as their rounded black or brown nose. Aidis have a very
friendly look to them which make them perfect household pets. Temperament Aidis
are energetic and love to get exercise, especially since herding and guarding is in their
blood. They are always alert and ready to enjoy their day with their masters. These
dogs have a keen sense of smell and are usually found sniffing anything they come by.
They can be very sensitive and they need attention from their loved ones when they
appear lonely or are not acting themselves. Aidis love to chase, catch, and run with
their owners at any given chance. Grooming Like with any thick coated dog, they
need special grooming two times a week or else they will shed much more than usual.
A bath should be at least a month and special shampoo for double coat dogs should be
used. They should be trimmed nicely around the summer months as extensive heat can
be very uncomfortable for them. Health They need their daily exercise in the form of
running or walking, as when they stay indoors they are not as active as they should be.
They can live up to thirteen years if no health problems rise and they are not prone to
any breed related diseases. The aidi dog is an interesting breed that was first used as a
sheepdog before becoming the loving family
The Great Depression Fashion
During the 1930 s when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to
make their own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought.
Because of the stock market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to
conserve money and still put out product. They started going to cheaper materials to
create clothingand cheaper ways to make the clothing. Though not everyone was able
to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had at home. There were many hand
me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts to make
underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food
to re create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either
making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go
out and buy new clothes but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during
the depression wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the
depression. If there was a problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing
with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even though there was not a
huge market for new clothing, there were still fashiondesigns that were popular for those
who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for women during
the depression and that s how people got their information on the latest fashions. The
clothing for women was simple and

  • 2. The Effect Of Musical Noise Pro Duced By Ibm verberant mixture. In 16 a minimum mean square error (MMSE) based technique is planned to estimate the ideal multi threshold mask (IMM) that has been utilized in the realm of monaural speech improvement. It contains 2 stages, specifically training stage and enhancement stage. Within the training stage, a man made neural network is trained by exploitation the SNR of every T F unit of training information. Second stage uses the calculated SNR to estimate IMM and to separate the target speech from clamant signal. This analysis work proposes a method to scale back the impact of musical noise pro duced by IBM, by planning a soft mask which might be utilized in speech separation applications. Genetic algorithmic rule (GA) is employed during this work to search out the optimum soft mask weights between 0 and 1. the objective measures like S/N improvement and perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) are used to measure the performance of planned optimum soft mask with the prevailing IBM 22 and IMM16 based speech separation systems. Rest of the paper is organized in the following manner. Section two provides an outline of computational auditory scene analysis (CASA). Section three presents the proposed optimum soft mask based speech separation system. Section four provides the experimental results of IBM, IMM and also the planned soft mask. Section five deals with the conclusion and future work. 2. Computational Auditory Scene Analysis(CASA) CASA can be defined as the
  • 3. Nurture Nature Vs Nature The debate between nature and nurture addresses genetic and environmental determinants and which principles apply to our lives. Humans are affected by choices made by others and ourselves and things that are meant to happen. Free will is being able to make a choice to do something on our own or to act in certain situations independently of natural, social, or divine restraints (Encyclopedia Britannica). Social cues are verbal or nonverbal hints that are meant to guide peers about their actions, the conversation they re having, etc.. Determinismis the belief that everything is naturally connected to the universe and every event happens because of the events that came before it. Fatalism follows the belief that events occur naturally, but without influence of humans. Nurture is a greater influences on our lives than nature; humans operate upon the principles of free will, social cues, and determinism. Determinism supports the idea that our outcomes are based on our choices and that they are meant to happen that way. An example of one s deterministic view is Brent Staples describing the ways he unintentionally frightened those around him in public and he would go out of his way to make them feel safer. It s unfair that an accomplished college graduate should be judged for their appearance, as well as anyone else for that matter. Staples had no obligation to act the way he did, but in order to keep himself safe, he could not pose a threat and get away with it as a black
  • 4. Use Of Software Requirements Specification ( Srs ) V.WHY TO USE TOOLS FOR RM Most project teams generally use software requirements specification (SRS) to document their requirements in natural language. However, a document based approach has some limitations: a document is difficult to keep current especially if it is a long one, it is hard to communicate changes to the team members who are affected by that change, it is difficult to associate supplementary information with each requirement and it is hard to define links between requirements and its decompositions or corresponding artifacts [7].You may do a great job at capturing all requirements in a SRS document at the beginning of a project but as development progresses, changes in SRS may become unmanageable and hard to track. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Classifying requirements according to attributes also helps team members who have different roles to view requirements from different viewpoints. For e.g. Developers may want to view requirements by difficulty and testers may want to view requirements by priority. RM tools make requirement traceability easier by providing the functionality to link requirements with other requirements or components. Traceability makes it easier to estimate the impact of a change in subsequent phases when it happens in one phase. Figure 2: Impact of changing one requirement specification As shown in Figure 2 above, if there is a change in one requirement specification requested, then with the linkages already present between requirements and their corresponding phases, we can guess the complexity involved. For the example shown, if there is a change of 1 requirement specification, 7 design and 10 implementation requirements may be affected. Although not all of the linked requirements may be impacted but this can give managers a fair idea of the complexity involved with changing of a requirement. Link traceability can also exist when requirements are decomposed from one stage to another. For e.g. Figure 3: Requirement decomposition traceability example [1] Each requirement has a unique identifier associated with it so that traceability can be established. In the example above, a requirement E1 which is

Houston is the fourth largest city in America behind Nevada and ahead of New Mexico. Now that is big. People that are born in Texas are natives, and therefore Houstonian. There are several races that call Houstonhome like Hispanics, Asians, Blacks and Europeans. There is also a refugee population in Houston from places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia. However, any person that lives in the culture and experiences the culture to the extent that they consider themselves native can also be called a Houstonian. Houstonian is not a term. Houstonian is a way of life, a culture, and an identity. Technically a Houstonian is anyone native to the city of Houston, Texas . As vague as that may be, this surprisingly includes all kinds of nationalities and races. Houston is melting pot city and many families are started here. As long as you have lived in the city for a minimum time, or have been born in Houston that makes you a Houstonian. Usually natives are born into a family of natives as well but other times it is a generation that starts the path going forward. There is no particular face of a Houstonian, or style of dress for that matter. A Houstonian is recognized by their comfort in the city. Houstonians a proud of their city and often rally often at festivals and events to celebrate that culture of a fun and
  • 7. Christian Inaccuracies In The Bible Introduction Every day people are introduced to the Bible, whether it be through Christians or non Christians. Christians will try to convince people that the Bible is true, while non Christians will say that there are too many inaccuracies in the Bible for it to be true. As Christians, we should take a look at what the other side has to say, so we are aware of what others believe and so that we can accurately talk about the other side s claims. Another reason that Christians should conduct their own research on the accuracy is so they can defend their faith and know why they believe what they believe. The fact that Jesus miracles are listed and discussed in each of the Gospels show proof that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dracula is a very popular book that rivals Frankenstein in popularity. The book sold 3,000 copies in the first printing. Dracula is a dark gothic horror novel written by Bram Stoker in 1897. To start with, an example of Stoker s use to set the setting in a gothic nature is the use of a ruined castle. The ruined castle gives the setting the impression of being ancient. • 13. Proposed Health Care Plans Of Two 2016 Presidential... It is highly visible that the United States lacks an affordable, universal health care plan. Compared to other countries America is lagging behind. The improvement of access to care has become of high importance to the betterment of society and the country s health care outcome. This paper will describe the three major problems that exist in the United Stateshealth care. In addition, it will explore the proposed health care plans of two 2016 presidential candidates and the position they take in regards the big issues. The uninsured and acquiring access to health care is one of the problems that the United States faces in regards to health care. An obstacle that individuals face is that gaining access to health care is linked to having a job. However, the problem does not stop there. The problem continues in the form that not every job gives people access to health care. Many employers will stop from offering individuals full time status because then they would have to offer some type of insurance plan. Thus, employers often hire people as part time so as to not have to face giving people benefits they may deem too costly. Inherently, people are finding themselves without insurance due to the fact that acquiring health care is contingent on having a job. What does this mean for the jobless? Based on the linkage between health care access and being employed, it is rather visible that the unemployed would be faced with being uninsured and difficulty acquiring access. The

  • 16. Syntactic And Morphological Skills In Autism Introduction The focus of the study was on how children with autism develop syntactic and morphological skills and if they apply alternative ways of learning such as memorization techniques in order to make up for the lack of normal morphological processing and if they learn grammatical morphemes in an unusual form. Previous studies have proposed the idea that children with autism present unusual syntactic and morphological skills; however, there is not sufficient information available on this topic. Existing studies have yet to indicate how these skills differentiate to children with developmental delay without autism. Moreover, the question of this research is important for deciding whether language impairments are merely linked to autism or developmental delay. Three different hypotheses were presented by the researchers of this study. The first hypothesis explained that children with autism would obtain lower scores on the tests measuring morphological and syntactic skills than children without autism and developmental delay. The results reveal that the groups with autism and developmental delay without autism both have difficulty applying past tense inflections which may create the task of applying past tense inflections to non words more

Because euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are relatively similar in purpose and function, they will be used in correlation to each other when discussing the use and concerns. With states having the option to choose legalization, the few that have the law in place limit its use to terminally ill patients (Ardelt 5). Terminal illness is defined as a disease that cannot be cured or adequately treated and is expected to result in death of the patient within a short time (Benjamin 4). Most recent is Vermont, which legalized assisted suicide in May 2013, making legalization relevant to today s society and issues with the possibility of more states legalizing these methods (Benjamin 3). With millions of patients being diagnosed with terminal illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, and fatal accidents, both those patients and their families are exposed to the compelling aspects of euthanasia and physician assisted suicide (Swarte 2). Euthanasia and physician assisted suicide should not be legalized in the United States due to safety concerns, economic challenges, and society s outlook on these

Some of those dangers threaten the very existence of our government. Abraham Lincoln saw the greatest source of danger coming from within our own country. In his Address to the Young Men s Lyceum of Springfield, he declared, If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. The dangers that we have faced have come from the uncontrolled desires of ambitious men. These men often have no true regard for the laws of the nation. They place their own importance before that of their fellow man. These men perpetuate a continuing disregard for the law. Obedience to law is essential for the preservation of America. Roosevelt asserted, the resources of the earth were placed here for the use of man in the mass ... they are not to be sized by a few for the purpose of oppression of the many. Changes in the relationship between business and property were needed to preserve the rights of man. The society that has been dominated by the interests of businesses and the select few was detrimental to America s prosperity. A balance business and property would benefit all involved, and perpetuate the success of America. Much of the strife in America resulted from the victimization of the poor; however, with the redistribution of resources, equality would be obtainable for all Americans. All people must have the power to make effective changes in society. The fundamental component that allows for democracy is the right of self governance. Lincoln and Roosevelt both believed that the power of the government should be held by the people. Ophelia describes these changes in appearance, when she says: No hat upon his head, his stockings fouled, /Ungartered, and down gyved to his ankles, /Pale as his shirt, his knees knocking each other (Shakespeare II.I, 89 91). Hamlet comes into Ophelia s room in a distressed state, after seeing the ghost, but he is unwilling to talk to her. This concerns her because she is used to him being open with her and being dressed in formal clothing. When Hamlet does not speaking to Ophelia is the relationship begins to fall apart because he does not want to confide to the person he loves about his encounter and turmoil. Choosing not to communicate his problems to his girlfriend sets their relationship up for failure because they need to be able to speak to each other and understand when things are bothering them. Ophelia tries to keep their relationship close, but their lack of communication creates a barrier. She decides to break up with him because she wants a future and if he does
  • 20. Brown Sugar Vs White Sugar Differences Sugar plays a fundamental role in cooking and especially in baking. Aside from sweetness, it can provide coloring as well as moisture and bulk. Brown sugar and white sugar provide these things to different degrees but how different are they from each other? Do they taste the same? Can you use one in place of the other? We answer these questions and more in this installment of SPICEography Showdown. Do white and brown sugartaste the same? Brown sugar gets both its color and its flavor from molasses. The more molasses it contains, the darker it is and the more molasses flavor it has. This means that dark brown sugar contains more molasses and has a stronger molasses taste when compared to light brown sugar, while white sugar has no molasses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No. Technically, yes. Molasses does provide some nutrients in the form of minerals like calcium, iron and magnesium. These minerals are present but are in such tiny amounts that there is barely any difference between the two types of sugar as far as their nutritional value is concerned. Another factor is the fact that molasses does make brown sugar soak up more moisture. The result is that it does have marginally fewer calories if you compare the two types of sugar on an ounce for ounce basis. The difference is not significant enough to be the basis of a decision between them. Which dishes are better fits for brown sugar and which are better for white sugar? White sugar is the main form of sugar used in most American households. It is versatile enough to be used for most baking applications and can be converted to brown sugar if necessary. It is used for sweetening coffee and tea as well as for making light colored sauces and salad dressings. Many of brown sugar s uses lie in the area of baking where it is the primary sweetener and coloring for dishes like ginger bread and banana bread. It is also used for cooking savory dishes like hams and roasted meats where it is used to create a

December 28, 1995 Marketing The National Hockey League In early August 1995 Gary Bettman, Commissioner of the NHL, Stephen Solomon, COO of the NHL, and Rick Dudley, COO of NHL Enterprises,1 met in their New York office to chart a strategy for marketing the NHL in 1995 and beyond. After a spectacular 1993 94 season, the NHL s 1994 95 season had been somewhat mixed; the league had suffered a labor dispute and played an abbreviated season. But there had been important achievements. For the first time in over 20 years the NHL had a network television contract in the United States. But if you are a fan, what a thrill it can be. The 26 teams in the league are organized into an Eastern and Western Conference. Within each of the conferences are two divisions: the Atlantic and the Northeast in the Eastern Conference, and the Central and the Pacific in the Western Conference. The teams play an 82 game regular season from October to April, followed by four rounds of playoffs where teams play a bestof seven game series to advance to the next round. The eight teams in each conference with the best regular season records (including division leaders) play three rounds to determine the conference winner. Finally, the two conference champions compete for the Stanley Cup, the trophy awarded for over a century to North America s best hockey team. History The National Hockey League was formed in 1917, from teams that took the ice that season. During the following two decades teams entered and exited, leaving six survivors by 1943, (Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Toronto Maple Leafs) who went on to be known as The Original Six. These teams were extremely successful and responsible for much of hockey s lore and legend. From 1947 1951 the Toronto Maple Leafs won four Stanley Cups in five

They might not have a conclusive answer, but through reason and logic, Fonda was able to create reasonable doubt that significantly changed the conviction. Additionally, it was difficult to validate the jurors decisions on the vote in their emotional state with biased and fallacious reasoning. Talli s History and Description of the Crystal Palace and the Exhibition of the World s Industry in 1851 From 1837 to 1901, under the reign of Queen Victoria, Great Britain, with the supremacy of its Royal Navy, had largely fulfilled its ambition of global imperial expansion in Asia and Africa particularly. As the British Empiresoon became the largest empire in history, this era was later known as the Victorian Era(John 129). To further unite nations and demonstrate an imperial industrial and economic leadership of the world, Queen Victoria s husband, Prince Albert organized the first world s fair, namely, The Great Exhibitionof the Works of Industry of All Nations , at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London, from May 1 to October 15 in 1851 (Celik 1). Not only did the diversity of the foreign goods displayed at the exhibition astonish the publics, but also the Crystal Palace, designed by Joseph Paxton and Owen Jones, as the striking structure that housed these articles attracted millions of visitors around the world during 1851 (Fig. 1). Later after the exhibition, the foreign articles were transferred to the South Kensington Museum (Crinson 65) as part of the Imperial archive (Barringer 11), to promote industrial and commercial education among domestic artisans and skilled labourers in the next fifty years, with a hope that the nation s economic growth

Her older brother, Vijay had been in a terrible car accident, and even though the doctors said he would live, it was going to be a long and painful recovery. Vijay is 16 years old, and like most kids his age had eagerly awaited being old enough to get his driver s license. At the time of the accident, two of Vijay s friends were passengers in his car. The friends admitted that they had been changing the radio station and goofing around while Vijay was driving, and that he may have been distracted when he veered into oncoming traffic. This car accident is proof that driving and minors do not mix. Raising the legal driving age to 18 will save lives. Statistics show the potential for danger every time a teenager gets behind the wheel. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States. In fact, drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 are three times more likely to be in a deadly car crash than older drivers. Adventure books where you find Heroes and villains in a constant struggle to thwart the others efforts are where you could notice the reoccurring traits the most. Heroes are often very similar, demonstrating similar strengths and weaknesses. I compare Huckleberry Finn, to Murtagh of the Inheritance series. Although Murtagh is not the main protagonist, he is most certainly a fallen hero, in my book once a hero always a hero. As long as they are remembered for what they were and not what they are, a hero they will remain. I hope in time I will be able to lead you down the path of similarities and differences between these two amazing characters and heroes. These similarities include characters such as courage, and a desire to be what they want to be to go where they want to go. One of the many traits these characters have in common is their stories. What they went through, and how they were raised. Murtagh s mother died when he was young and he was raised by a father who cared nothing for him. When his father died Murtagh was taken in by the king who was determined to mold Murtagh into man the king thought Murtagh should be. Huck s story is almost the same. Huck s mother died when he was young. Huck s father, Pap, was a drunk and cared nothing for Huckleberry Finn. Pap left Huck and Huck was taken in by a woman who was determined to mold

Consider script, performance, and spectacle factors in your discussion. [5 significant sentences minimum] One memorable moment in the play was when Clairee yelled in outrage and her voice sort of cracked. It made the whole audience burst into laughter and it was my favorite part of the play. I remember the look on each of the faces of the characters. Everyone was so connected and serious, but at the drop of the hat (or shall I say the line) all of the women had delightful smiles on their faces and their heads were tilted back from laughing. Clairee s body was uptight and straight as a board and she stomped her foot as she said the line. After, she still was stick straight but laughing like the rest of them. Which actor was compelling to you? And what was the name of the character the actor played? The actress was most compelling to me was Madeline Ritter, and she portrayed the character, Shelby. Describe 2 moments in the play (one from Act 1 and one from Act 2 or from earlier and later in the play, if there was no intermission) where the actor s portrayal seemed compelling. Be sure to include what the actor did especially how the actor used his/her face, voice and body to bring the character to life in these moments. Hadrian s Influence On The Roman Empire When he was young, Hadrian was classically taught in his hometown of Italica Hispania (modern day Seville, Spain) and went to Rome at around 14 years old. Emperor Trajan was the first Roman emperor who was born in a province, not Romeit self. Later biographers would attempt to place the birth of Trajan and Hadrian in the city of Rome but because both had Hispanic ethnicity this has been assumed by some to be the reason that Trajan adopted Hadrian as his successor (though scholars dispute this). They can however be a friendly and loyal house pet. Appearance Aidi dogs are of medium height and can weigh around forty to fifty pounds. They have a thick double coat which protects them from harsh weather. They come in many colors from white, sable, black, spotted, tri colored, and beige. Their shaggy ears and big eyes give them a cute appearance, as well as their rounded black or brown nose. Aidis have a very friendly look to them which make them perfect household pets. Temperament Aidis are energetic and love to get exercise, especially since herding and guarding is in their blood. They are always alert and ready to enjoy their day with their masters. These dogs have a keen sense of smell and are usually found sniffing anything they come by. They can be very sensitive and they need attention from their loved ones when they appear lonely or are not acting themselves. Aidis love to chase, catch, and run with their owners at any given chance. Grooming Like with any thick coated dog, they need special grooming two times a week or else they will shed much more than usual. A bath should be at least a month and special shampoo for double coat dogs should be used. They should be trimmed nicely around the summer months as extensive heat can be very uncomfortable for them. Health They need their daily exercise in the form of running or walking, as when they stay indoors they are not as active as they should be. They can live up to thirteen years if no health problems rise and they are not prone to any breed related diseases. The aidi dog is an interesting breed that was first used as a sheepdog before becoming the loving family

The Great Depression Fashion During the 1930 s when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out product. There were many hand me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food to re create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashiondesigns that were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for women during the depression and that s how people got their information on the latest fashions.
