MULTIDISCIPLINRY NATURE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES.pptx
Test Shots
1. This image could possibly be a
smaller cover story image, the rule
thirds has been successfully used,
with the participant’s eyes and
torso within those lines and on
where the cross sections would be.
However, a surplus of head room is
an issue in the image. To add to this
a depth effect could be used to
bring more focus to the artist.
This image could be the second contents page
image, adequate head room is left, the mid-shot
focuses more on the artists and
minimalizes the focus on the back-drop, this
makes it ideal for a smaller contents page
image. High-key lighting is used and it projects
well across the participants face. The costume
is placed well within the indie-folk genre,
because of its smart, casual and stylish nature.
A low angle is used, this connotes
dominance and therefore complies with
the magazine conventions of a male
subject. This particular image could again
be used of a cover story. The props
particularly the acoustic guitar,
references strongly to the indie folk
genre. The modern, trending headphones
will appeal with great affect to my
younger target audience. The rule of
thirds has also been used
This test shot is possibly the
weakest of all of them, the artist
cannot be seen in enough detail.
However if it was going to be used,
it would most likely become and
contents page image.
The artist in this image is
slightly elevated, this
portrays a dominance,
however the over cast
natural lighting implies a
mysteriousness to the
subject, and this image could
be used for the main front
cover story.
The image is taken from a higher
position to the subject, this gives a
humble persona to the participant,
and this suits an indie-folk artists more
than, a rock artist. It is reasonably
likely this image will become a
contents page image.

4. As previously mentioned these
headphones help connote a music
theme and will appeal to my target
audience.
Acoustic guitars have a better
association with the genre I am
using, than any other guitar variant,
this is why is being used.
This will be the double page spread
image, this is due to the fact that it
show the artists in detail, while still
showing the location, which in turn
gives a third dimension to the
image. The axe in the foreground
connotes masculinity. If I was to
modify the image I would re-take it
in a landscape position
This rural, wooded backdrop has
connections with indie-folk genre
because of its rustic
connotations.
This image is likely to be used on the font cover
as a cover story image. The water-way in the
backdrop has been used to create a down the
line effect, which bring the viewer’s attention to
the subject. The high-key lighting, implies a jovial
tone. The mid-shot brings in a good amount of
the back drop itself, while still showing the
subject in detail. On the other hand, the open
chequered shirt has denotations of masculinity
and the countryside, these aspects are often
seen with the indie-folk genre.
This slight over the shoulder shot implies a
feminine persona to the participant. The
shot type is a close up, this shows the
participants expression. High-key natural
lighting, that has added glare, shows the
subject in an even more feminine way. The
wild hair is common with the indie-folk
genre.
5. This is most likely to become a
contents page image, the railway
rails also show a down the line
affect, and to add to this the over
grown track implies a natural tone
associated with the genre. The long
shot allows you to see the whole
artists. The quirky yet smart and
casual costume is associated with
this genre. High-key lighting is used.
This image will probably used as the
main cover image, because it
focuses on the subjects face, once
again a down the line affect has
been used.
