2. Narrative
The narrative revolves around the ghost and supernatural theme
A student recently from higher education has the ambition to become a
pioneer in the field of Parapsychology and events of the paranormal. He is
searching for a case that will help raise his notoriety and one that will finally
cause critics to take him and his field seriously. He finds a case out at a
deserted farm house. The resident is old and slightly unnerving. She wants
this expert to finally expel a presence from her residence.
The protagonist investigates and makes contact. But over a series of days
the presence refuses to leave and eventually peruses her disturber. It gets
to the point where it no longer is an investigation but a test of his nerve and
sanity.
The antagonist is a young girl. She is the ghost.
3. Characters
There will be several characters in this trailer.
The protagonist will be a young male, he will be the paranormal expert.
His assistant, this will be a male of similar age who will help the protagonist
carry out his investigation.
A old woman- this character will be slightly mad from years of living with this
ghost.
The antagonist herself will be a young girl. She will terrorize the investigators
trying to drive them away.
4. Setting
Their will be three main settings for this trailer.
The house of the old woman.
The barn occupied by the paranormal girl. This will be dilapidated
The maze field when the investigator is pursued by the girl.
I feel these locations will have the right aesthetic look to be able to create a
successful trailer. The maze field will be claustrophobic yet isolated giving a
threatened feel to the whole scene.
5. Key Events
The first key event in the trailer will be the meeting of the investigator and
the distressed old woman. This will be a tense encounter but the old
woman will appear desperate as if this is her last hope to be free from the
ghost.
The second key event will be the protagonist making contact with the
paranormal being. His assistant will suddenly go quite but then speak again,
as the girl. He will be possessed.
the third key event will be the protagonists investigation of the maze field.
The will be perused by the antagonist.
To close the trailer I may use a scene were the protagonist is in a pitch
black room, he quickly lights a match to find the lock. In the flash of light
the girls face can be scene.
6. Conventions
The narrative if my trailer follows one of the conventional themes of horror and
that is the undead/ghosts theme.
The locations are conventions, because they are mysterious and they have the
potential to be terrifying.
The characters are conventional, the old woman is conventional because she
will be shown to be vulnerable and in need of help.
The key scenes are conventional because they provide a build up of tension, a
fast paced dramatic moment and an end scene that leaves the audience
wanting more.
I think my ideas will be largely successful, however one area that may let me
down is the age of my character. If it comes to the stage of me not being able
to find an elderly woman to play the respective role I plan on using make-up this
could be unrealistic and take away from the professional look to the trailer.
