2. As you can see in this front cover shot, the
background is over some worn boards, which
implies the musician is leaning up against a
shed of some description. It is appropriate to
the music genre which is country, which
originates in the countryside which is why it is
appropriate that the musician be leaning up
against something which would fit well into the
viewers perceptions of countryside.
The background to this shot is of a room
which is quite dark in colour. As like the
other magazine cover the background is
appropriate to the music genre, which is
folk, which is stereotyped as being music
that originates from the people, so a stark
white studio setting would not have been
appropriate.
3. The important aspect of this magazine is that
unlike the other two magazines I previously
looked at, this has a younger target market which
effects the overall composition of the shots, which
in this case have become more vibrant and eye-
catching. The background to this shot is a studio
one, which prevents the overall front cover from
being too busy, and visually clear to readers.
Furthermore with this music genre pop it also has
a wider target market one which appeals to
several groups in society and use within one artist
contains a variety of genres. A key example being
Taylor swift.
The background of this image again is of
a studio, which enables the
photographer to manipulate better the
light, which can provide a much more
manicured overall shot. In this case the
background provides the dark areas of
the cover which is contrasted with the
white lettering in of the front cover
information.
4. Again the background of this photograph is a
studio one most likely, which would mean it
would be easier to remove a plain
background with better accuracy than a
intricate one, this creates a rather sterile
looking background which prevents the eye
deviation from the main focal point which is
the musician first and foremost.
Like the left magazine cover the light in this
photo been manipulated to create a more
stage manicured overall look, however it has
been set within a room, potentially being a
theatre or something similar to the music
genre, classical
5. Within my own magazine I am planning
on create a naturally lit background,
potentially photographed in woods, to
remain in the conventions of my
magazine genre choice which is folk
music, which is stereotypically about
embracing your surroundings, and
using this aspect to influence the
music. However in some of my
contents page photographs I will use a
studio, to create less busy and simpler
shots.
