Literature Review On Social Movements
II. LITERATURE REVIEW Social movements (SMs) have been part of society s history and politics
for centuries. For some authors, they started with the French Revolution and have been constantly
rising and falling depending on the existent socio political climate (Reichmann Fernandez Buey,
1994). For Charles Tilly, the nineteenth laid the groundwork for the modern social movements of the
twentieth century (Tilly, 1998). Karl Marx also studied and developed the concept of SMs; he viewed
them as a means of achieving a deep social change through class conflict (Tarrow, 2011). Studied in
relationship to the rise of globalisation and social media, the expansion and modernisation of SMs has
become increasingly prominent in the academic literature of the last century. Accordingly,
Globalisation has made it possible for individuals to empower themselves through participation in
supranational organisations and international organisms that challenge governmental authority. As
evidenced by Manuel Castells, populations around the world are now able to come together to affect
change by expressing ideas and demonstrating in support of pressing issues (Castells, 2009). Chile has
been no exception to the trend of globalisation and has participated in and developed a number of
strong international social movements. The academic literature on social movements is vast. Since
there are many types of SMs that focus on different aspects of human life (economic, social, political

Analysis Of The Poem Howl
Historic Analysis of Howl Howl was a poem written by Allen Ginsberg in 1956. For us to understand
the poem it is necessary for us to understand the history behind the poem. Howl was published in
1956, right after the devastating World War II. After WWII that s when the American dream was in
full force throughout the whole world. Many Immigrants were trying to migrate to the US at that time
for a better living. At the same time media was becoming big and powerful gaining trust from citizens
while television was on its peak being the most important part of the media growth as it exported an
immense number news to consumers. While Americans were busy with the new experience of having,
news transmitted to them on the comfort of their houses, others worked hard to get a movement
started, from the streets, to the bars at night. A group of poets would gather together to express their
arts of literature written by them. Ginsberg s Howl was Beat generation s first heartbeat, as the poem
was first performed at Six Gallery in San Francisco in 1955 it was the moment when Beat generation
was built. As the poem was published in 1955 with the City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco, the
poem was considered one of the best American poem to be performed. The members of that
movement were professional writers although Howl was the first foremost Beat generation work to be
printed. The beat generation style of writing was something different that nobody had the guts

The Objectification of Women in Advertisements Essay
The objectification of women is a huge issue in society and is often led by advertising. However many
men still believe that the adverts depicting women in a sexual and often passive posture are not very
offensive but rather very funny or sexy. However how would they feel if it were their daughter or
sister being advertised throughout the world as a sex object?
The Tiger Beer advertisement shown in the appendix is a clear example of the objectification of
women in advertising. The Tiger Beer advert was made to appeal to men from the age of 20 to 60. The
advert seeks to get a cheap laugh from the target audience with the image of the woman in a sexual
pose and the picture of the beer. The ad promotes the idea that beer is the most ... Show more content

Another problem is the first place award associated with the beer and the third place award placed
next to the woman. Also the copy is somewhat offensive as it clearly implies that the best things to
come out of the Far East are prostitutes and beer.
The problem with the woman s stance and sexual nature is that she is viewed merely as an object that
must compete with beer for male attention. This stereotype is repeatedly used in several ads where it is
expected that the woman should be competing to pleasure the man like beer does. It uses the
stereotype of the man who simply must be pleased all day long by beer, women, footy, and fast cars.
This stereotype has also appeared in the BMW ad featured in the appendix which shows a woman
having sex with a man while the man thinks about the new car he saw in a magazine. This ad also
shows the man as someone whose attention must constantly be satisfied with beer, women, footy or
cars and each of these elements must compete for his attention whether it s an inanimate object or a
woman.
The advert makes a joke about the sex industry in Asia clearly implying that Asian prostitutes are an
object designed to give men immediate pleasure. The ad puts beer and prostitutes into the same
category of things required to please a man. The fact that women are lower than beer in this category
appeals to the stereotypical moron who thinks the most important things in life

Importance Of Countermeasures For Social Networking
Countermeasures for Social Networking Because social networking has exploded in popularity so
quickly, companies and individuals have not had much time to deal with the problems the technology
has brought to bear. Surveys taken in recent years have found that many companies either do not have
a policy in place regarding social networking or are unaware of the risks. Recently, however, people
are slowly starting to become aware of how big the danger is and that they need to take steps to
protect themselves. Company policies should touch on appropriate usage of social media and
networking sites at work as well as the kind of conduct and language an employee is allowed to use on
the sites. Currently about 40 percent of companies have implemented a social networking policy; the
rest have either suggested doing so or are not doing anything. Many individuals and companies have
been burned or heard about someone else getting burned and have decided to do something about the
issue. Social networking can be used relatively safely and securely as long as it is used carefully.
Exercising some basic safety measures can substantially reduce the risk of using these services.
Consider recommending and training users on the following practices: Discourage the practice of
mixing personal and professional information in social networking. Although you may not be able to
eliminate the company information that is shared, it should be kept to a bare minimum. Always verify
contacts, and

Youth America Narrative
It all started in 2016. It was a summer day in June at a camp called Youth America. That Summer day
started terribly. It was a burning day at Youth America and an exhausting day as well. We had to set a
slide up on a grass hill, this slide used mattresses, a pool cover and pool floats, plus soap and water.
We had to carry these items for a while. We walked carrying these items to where the coaches were
going to set this up. The coaches and the volunteers put this slide together on the grass hill. They used
this ramp from the storage room. They poured a lot of soap on it, then the water from the hose. After
building this slide, if we wanted to, you had to go to your cabin and get your bathing suit on. I did not
want to do it so I just watched ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was interesting how tough it got. After this terrible, great, bad, fun day we sat down and got calm
after the game, ready for a sermon. I got excited when I heard that Monica Pankratz was going to
preach. She walked on stage and said boys can you please exit to the right so you will have a sermon
outside with my husband. So right at that moment the boys left the room.
Monica asked everyone this who loves Jesus christ every day of your life? , and the room got loud and
quickly filled up with cheer. After that she had us take our seats and get ready for prayer. After she
prayed the worship team came up and we jumped up and worshiped. The last song was a slow steady
song, I mainly paid attention to the words. At that moment I got teary eyed because those word where
really powerful and really touched my heart because of the two deaths before and the word it said.
After we sat down and chilled. The title was Believe . Jaden and I shook our heads as if you were
saying yes and said ok in a confused voice. What the picture she put in our heads is that image if you
were a tree you need to dig your roots in the soil so if a storm comes you can stay on to him if he was
the soil. I took lots of notes about the sermon. The main key thing was about how we need to believe
in him and trust in him when we are going through something rough times, and we need to take his
hand and go through this journey with him instead of

My Papaw Short Story
My papaw, Fred, has always played a role of being easy going and simple. He s about six foot, has
wire glasses, wears khaki Carhart overalls everyday and when you stand close enough, his afternoon
smoke will put your senses on overdrive. He drives a small, bright red pickup truck, along with every
other man in Kingsport, that you can almost taste the gasoline when it passed. He moved to Kingsport,
Tennessee when he left the air force, and was only twenty one at the time. He had very little to his
name, but had hopes higher than all the stars on a clear, country night. There was one thing that my
papaw was sure to have with him at all times, and that was a cigarette. If he has his cigarettes then he
knows that someone will have a lighter. His addiction isn t healthy, but it relieves his stress. With his
cigarette, he carries PTSD and shaky hands. My family used to give him a hard time until we saw him
go without one. He dreams of jets taking off over his head and the roaring engines leaving him deaf in
one ear. His slightly discolored fingertips shake with anxiety at the thought of ever being on another
plane. He can name every part, what it does, and exactly how the engine works. He recites it as if he is
staring straight at one, the memories absorbed into his mind like a paper towel soaking up spilled
water. When he sees a plane fly over, I see his yellow stained fingers reach for another. My papaw
says he is a simple man, but he is far from it. His billfold hangs out

Pros And Cons Of A Representative Democracy
Stauffenberg, Griffin
Analytical Paper #1 Take it all the way back to when the constitution was being written. The founding
fathers had a big choice to make; did they establish a direct democracy or a representative democracy?
They had to weigh the pros and cons of each and they ended up deciding on a representative
democracy. In this paper I will tell you why they made things the way they did and certain
compromises they made along the way. Some of the major features in a direct democracy are that the
people get to directly elect things such as the president or for laws to be passed or not. The big
advantages of a direct democracy are that voting takes much less time as it is just a vote among all the
citizens, people see the the changes they voted for take effect faster, and people feel like their vote is
valued and powerful. The downsides to a direct democracy are that sometimes the popular vote isn t
always the right vote and people realize that after it s too late to change what they did. Around the
time of the American Revolution the majority of people were considered, too uneducated to govern
themselves (Schmidt, et al, 5). When our constitution was being written many of the founding fathers
did not believe that the common people were ready to govern themselves, so they set up a
representative democracy instead of a direct democracy. James Madison thought that if we did
implement a direct democracy it would, deteriorate into mob rule (Schmidt,et al, 5). A major

Updating Military Strategy
Since 9/11/01 the United States has been under attack by terrorism and George W. Bush started the
war against terrorism but his presidency has ended. Since then Barack Obama has taken over as
president and he has a new strategy, which consists of, protecting our homeland by constantly
reducing our vulnerabilities, adapting, and updating our defenses, killing Osama bin Laden and many
of his top Lieutenants, and giving law enforcement new ways to counter terrorism. President Obama
believes in order to hinder terrorism the US must increase the efficacy of our law enforcement,
actively seek out to take out al Qaeda s leaders, and constantly decrease our vulnerabilities.
9/11/01, the day the United States of America lost its security, since then the US has been updating our
defenses. Barack Obama is updating our defenses by giving law enforcement new survallience tools
and weapons. Rather than defining our entire national security policy, this counterterrorism strategy is
one part of President Obama s larger National Security Strategy, which seeks to advance our enduring
national security interests, including our security, prosperity, respect for universal values and global
cooperation to meet global challenges. Says Barack Obama

Eye Infection Procedures
Do your eyes have less than perfect vision? Are you trying to decide whether you want glasses,
contacts, or both? Before you visit your optometrist s office, here are some merits of each option to
help you decide:
Glasses:
Easy to clean: Unless you are perspiring heavily or get something splashed on your glasses, they will
usually only require a soft cloth to rub any dust or dirt away. If they have spots of sweat or other
liquids, this can be removed with a mild solution of warm water and dish soap.
Low chance of eye infection: Unlike contact lenses that are placed on your eyeball, glasses rest upon
your face. Because there is less potential for glasses to spread germs to your eyes, you will have a
lower risk of eye infection than than if you were wearing contact lenses.
Coordinate with your outfits: Sometimes an outfit needs something a little bit more, to make it pop ...

This can happen in both summer and during the winter. Depending on where you live, it may be easier
for your optometrist to provide you with glasses that provide UV protection than for you to find
contact lenses that offer UV protection.
Contact lenses:
No fogging: If you work in a kitchen or any other location where you need to walk through multiple
areas with different temperatures, foggy glasses could be distracting or even potentially dangerous.
Contact lenses will never fog, no matter the temperature difference.
More natural vision: With contact lenses, your entire field of vision is corrected. No matter how
skilled your optometrist is, eyeglasses will have at least mild distortion around the edges due to their
shape.
No wardrobe clashes: Because contact lenses are invisible, you don t have to worry about whether
they will match a particular outfit or not. This means that you can go on a date or to an important
meeting without wondering whether you should ve worn your other pair of glasses or

Eurodisney
Euro Disney: The First 100 Days The decision to open a theme park in France was not the best idea.
There were many factors that proved to hinder the advancement of progress in regards to the European
extension of Disney since its inception. The foremost would be that of the civil unrest that seemed to
plague France at the time Euro Disney was scheduled to open. There were protests, transportation
strikes, terrorist threats, etc. all which directly or indirectly affected the Euro Disney s attendance.
Also, the $10 million ad campaign seemed very costly, especially considering the fact that this was
more than two decades ago. French critics seemed to be excessively harsh as well. On a positive note,

Euro Disney should have made the core of its theme park employee s ones who already were
employed with Disney in the US or US citizens familiar with Disney. If Euro Disney is contemplating
proceeding with a second phase, it would not be a recommended step. The company needs to first
address the issues at hand, low attendance for example, or poor customer service. After handling those
issues, only then will the company is ready to proceed with the next step. Euro Disney has learned
many lessons, the foremost being that the countries reception of a company can positively or
negatively affect the sales of said company. This is evidenced by the extremely negative reviews and
harsh French criticism received by Euro Disney and the company not meeting expectations. The park
should not be adapted for the local market because that is not what the consumer is looking for. The
customer wants to have the Disney feel, and to take away from that by making changes to it takes
away the opportunity for them to obtain that Disney feel. In regards to staffing, Euro Disney should
have outsourced to the US. Because most US citizens are familiar with the Disney culture, they would
be better suited to relay said culture to the European population as Disney employees. Works Cited 1.

Power Struggle In The Film Terms Of Endearment
The three films that I have chosen all have a power struggle between the mother and daughter. First,
Terms of Endearment (1983) directed by James L. Brook, is about a complex mother daughter
relationship. In this movie, the mother, Aurora (Shirley MacLaine) has always had a peculiar way of
how she was affectionate and caring for her daughter. Aurora goes out of her way to assure herself that
her daughter is safe. The movie actually started off with Aurora climbing into the baby s crib to make
sure the baby was breathing and alive. She wasn t the most ordinary mother out there when it came to
showing her feelings; it was always a bit too much to handle. After the death of her husband, Aurora

years they spent apart from each other, they both came together for support during Emma s crisis.
Some more time passes by and Emma finds out about an illness that she will not survive. Aurora and
Flap come to Emma s aid at this dreadful time. Aurora, being as tired and devastated that she is about
her daughter, spends all her time to make sure Emma has everything she needs. Watching Emma s
illness progress, Flap and Emma decide that the best place for their children is with Aurora. Emma

Taking a Look at Humanistic Psychology
Humanistic psychology is refereed as the 3rd force in psychology it was an alternative to
psychoanalysis and behaviourism. Humanistic psychology was instead focused on each individual s
potential and stressed the importance of growth and self actualization. A fundamental belief that
people are born good but that this can be distorted through social interactions and life experiences. In
this essay I plan to explain Carl Rogers s theories of person centred and how I have linked them to
myself. Carl Rogers stated that there was many key aspects which make up a person s personality.
The Organismic self the true self both conscious and unconscious. The Organismic valuing process a
fundamental concept within humanistic psychology. A tendency to automatically pick, work towards
and search for situations which fit into our inborn aspirations in order to lead a gratifying life. A
biologically driven process not aware of I or ME . The Actualizing tendency, human organism has an
underlying force which drives us to enhance and meet our maximum full potential physically,
spiritually and emotionally. The actualising tendency can never be destroyed only suppressed, it s been
described as a biological pressure to fulfil the genetic blueprint . Positive regard which is a learnt need
developed in infancy. A perception of experiencing the self making a positive difference to another. A
need that validates love, affection and respect from a significant other. The Self concept which

Summary on Aerobic and Anaerobic Endurance in Badminton
INTRODUCTION: Badminton requires a high level of energy to quickly move around the court,
deliver effective shots and sustain a match. Knowing how this energy is generated is crucial. All other
things being equal, the player with more stamina will most likely win a match in baminton. This is
because while good stroke skills, effective shot placements and fast footwork are important
characteristics in a good player, fitness is necessary in executing and sustaining these movements for
the duration of a match. As a player s energy is depleted, his or her ability to perform also goes down.
The Nature of Badminton: Unlike marathon or jogging, moves in badminton vary from standing to
slow and sudden actions. Predominantly, however, badminton ... Show more content on

Three Perspectives of They Came Like Swallows by William Maxwell
In the novel They Came Like Swallows , author William Maxwell tells the same story from three
different perspectives, each one being told from a point of view by a different character in the family
from the novel. The first perspective was told by the youngest son in the family, Peter (nicknamed
Bunny ), the second perspective told by the older son, Robert, and the third and last perspective told
by the father/husband, James Morrison. Each member from the family holds important aspects when it

Every point of view from the novel is solely based on where the story begins and where it ends.
Bunny, Robert, and James have a different point of view of Elizabeth. One perspective explains how
Elizabeth is seen as a heroic figure.
Another perspective explains how she is the person being protected. The final perspective points out
how and why Elizabeth was and will still be remembered as an important part and figure to the family
in the novel. It is believed that the story probably would not have the same understanding had it been
told from only one perspective by one of the main characters or the author himself. Each perspective
explains the development of her character overtime, more likely as what is noted of her as the novel
continues throughout.
The first part of the story is told from Bunny s perspective. He is learned to be the center of attention
in his family. Bunny is rather an insider who is attached to and heavily relies on protection from his
mother (Elizabeth Morison). Bunny was the one known to be the most favored child and put first in
line over his older brother Robert. From day in and day out , Robert has constantly made Bunny s life
miserable as possible. Meanwhile, the 1918 influenza

The Dark Knight Analysis
The Dark Knight is a superhero movie and is part of a sequel. It comes second after Batman Begins. It
is a fantastic movie directed by Christopher Nolan. The main Theme of this movie is Faith. The plot
and Characters develop this theme in a few ways. When the film opens up we have a bank robbery
scene in the city of gotham and we encounter the joker, our antagonist. Because of this we see a chain
of crimes happening around the city and the people of Gotham turn their faith toward the Batman.
This is the basic plot of the film where the protagonists are trying to restore people s faith back into
the city and the police force. The characters develop this theme by carrying out the plot of the film and
helping restore faith back into the city. The visual design plays a big role in developing the film s
theme. A majority of the time the films color is dark and the colors palate that is used is to the darker
side. The setting of this movie is determiner of character because it takes place in a setting that
Batman doesn t have too much control over and he is working to protect that and survive in that place.
We also see a setting for sheer visual impact at times such as when we see a deep focus camera shot of
the entire city and see how much chaos is going on and what the protagonists are trying to do to
restore faith back into the city. The functions of the setting in this film also have symbolic significance
to the theme and it impacts it very much. We mostly see this in the

Disney s The Pastoral Symphony
Disney s Fantasia (1940) lies in a class separate from all other animations of program music. While its
initial reception was less than stellar, it has since become a standard film in home collections.
Theatrical performances, games, and many other derivatives of the brand now exist. Despite this, it
has also generated a fair amount of controversy. For example, it contains scenes that allude to Darwin
s theory of evolution, and others that display negative racial stereotypes. Yet the most controversial
scene at the movie s premiere was the animation of Beethoven s Sixth, the Pastoral Symphony. This
feature upset many classical music lovers who objected to the idea of giving Beethoven s symphony
an explicit storyline and a set of images that he did not have in mind. The Pastoral Symphony is likely
the most familiar example of program music, but most musicians and critics seem to agree that this
does not give a free pass to any form of interpretation. In the intro to Fantasia, the narrator addresses
this by cautioning the listener that the video clips were created based on the musical interpretations of
animators, not of trained musicians. From that cautionary message to articles published as recently as
this year, Fantasia remains a topic of controversy, influenced by factors such as audience familiarity
and general views on Beethoven himself. The reach of this influence is not limited to reviews of the
Pastoral Symphony feature, but rather extends to the whole

the soldiers will go by land or by sea. So they come up with a plan: Paul s friend will signal him by
hanging lanterns on the belfry tower One, if by land, and two, if by sea . Paul then rows to
Charlestown to wait for the signal. The second stanza begins to describe Paul rowing quietly across
the bay in the dead of night. Then he said, Good night! and with muffled oar, silently rowed to the
Charlestown shore Paul is on an important mission and can t be caught: The use of muffled oar
enhances the danger and stealth needed for him to

world because we use these things in our everyday lives. The most important Muslim innovations that
changed the world today are mathematics, medicine, and geography. One of the innovations is
mathematics. Mathematics changed the world because we use it in our everyday lives. We use
mathematics when we count 1,2,3...etc. We also use mathematics for math classes, 124+200= 324.
Numbers are also used when we tell our age. When people are construct houses or building, they use
mathematics. According to Muslim Achievements Al Khwarizmi also made ground breaking advances
in the field of algebra. It also says In facts, the word algebra comes from

Auguste Escoffier Essay
Auguste Escoffier
Auguste Escoffier was born on October 28, 1846, in the village of Villeneuve Loubet, France. He was
the son of Jean Baptiste Escoffier and his wife Madeleine Civatte. His father was the villages
blacksmith, farrier, locksmith, and maker of agricultural tools. Escoffier s childhood dream was to
become a sculptor. Unfortunately he was forced to give up that dream at the age of thirteen, just after
he celebrated his first Holy Communion Escoffier was told he was going to be a cook.
Although he did not want to, Escoffier started work as a kitchen apprentice at his uncle s Restaurant
Francais in Nice. Escoffier learned a great deal from his apprenticeship by working hard and
determination to succeed. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After discharging from the army once again Escoffier returned to Nice and spent the winter season as

Ministry And Gifts Of The Holy Spirit
Ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit Ministry and the gifts of the Holy Spirit seem to be something
that a lot of the church have forgotten about. Of course if you were raised Pentecostal, this is
something you might be rather familiar with. However, I have ever heard anybody speak in tongues
being raised in a Nazarene Church, and I was very un familiarized with these gifts. It wasn t until I
was sixteen years old that I actually heard anyone speak in tongues. I had never heard about gifts such
as prophecy, Different kind of tongs, are The interpretation of tongs. Speaking in tongues was
something that was perceive to be scary. You didn t hear of people being healed, or if you did it
seemed hush hush, but I remember the church speaking a lot about was the gift of faith. In my
research of several different places, internet and books, I have found some interesting breakdowns of
the gifts of the Spirit. Ways that I had never heard of before, that actually were quite good. So there
are nine gifts laid out in 1 Corinthians 12:8 10. These are: 1. Words of wisdom ~ ability to make
decisions and give guidance that is according to God s will. 2. Words of knowledge ~ ability to have
an in depth understanding of spiritual issues or situations...resulting in bringing wisdom and guidance.
3. Faith ~ An unmovable trust in God that results in encouraging others to trust God more, no matter
what the circumstances. 4. Gifts of Healing ~ Miraculous ability to use God s healing power to

Victor The Real Monster In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein, the real Monster is Victor himself. It s simple to understand and very clear
to see. He may not look like one or realize that it is him, but many things throughout the book point
you to the conclusion that the creature isn t the monster. It stuck out to me the entire time reading this,
but there were a couple spots that really made me realize who the real monster was. For example in
Ch. 5, where he startled himself by his own creation and again in Ch. 11 Ch. 17 when the creature
began to explain his journey and experience. Throughout chapter 5, many things convinced me that
Victor was the real monster. For starters, when he finally finished his creation and got scared himself
because of how hideous it looked. It obviously wasn t his intentions to make him look so bad, but he
then didn t even except the creature as his own. He wanted nothing to do with it, his experiment failed,
and he was scared to know what it was capable of. Well, what he didn t know was that without the
love and care it needed, the outcome was even worse than what he thought. The father figure in this
novel is Victor, while the creature is the child , and like most parents who don t know the
responsibilities, they just throw them away and let someone else care for their own child. This comes
into play a little later when the creature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Biological Theories Of Crime Essay
Critically examine research into biological and psychological theories of crime.
It is apparent that still in today s society s it is exemplified that despite the guidelines of social norms,
boundaries and laws on how people act should accordingly, certain aspects of criminal deviant
behaviour continue to stay. Although some researcher s characteristic human aggression to human
nature as part of a natural innate instinct which they have no control other, that can make one prone to
deviant behaviour, while the others are more likely to commit crimes. While others tend to look at
other factors which all amount to crime and deviant behaviour. This essay aims to look at in depth at
how biological and physiological theories explain crime.

All the theories are based on the idea that biological markers foreordain deviant behaviour. The base
of all these theories is that genetic factors or any abnormalities that are inherited or acquired
throughout life, predispose individuals to the criminal behaviour. Initially it was claimed by Lombroso
s (1876) that people were prone to participate in deviant behaviour and that these specific people all
displayed physiognomic features or abnormalities. He suggested that all criminals shared common
facial features for example; asymmetry of one s face, the shape of their skulls, big ears eyes and lips
and a twisted nose (SimplyPyschology, 2016). Although Lombroso s theory was deemed relevant at
the time, it today appears to be slightly absurd, and his theory is evidentially extremely flawed. Firstly,
many convicted criminals have perfectly symmetrical faces, in the same way

interpretation took reference from Greek mythology and other mythical stories during the renaissance.
Nearly 100 years later, Rueben was inspired by Titan s original theme. Based on his composition and

Essay on OZONE DEPLETION BY HUMAN’S ACTIONS
OZONE DEPLETION BY HUMAN S ACTIONS
The ozone layer is a very important component in the atmosphere. Ozone is not the same as the
oxygen humans breathe. There is very little of this gas in the atmosphere. First off, let s begin with a
definition of the ozone layer. Ozone is a hot, slightly bluish gas. It is a molecule made up of three
oxygen atoms, which are very similar to the molecule we are familiar with (O2), the molecule needed
for human respiration. Despite the major smog problem, about 90 percent of Earth s ozone are actually
in the stratosphere, a layer of the atmosphere far above the Earth s surface. It lies above the
troposhere, the miles thick lower layer where air is densest and where most weather occurs. So, it is ...

If ozone did not act to filter a great deal of the ultra violet radiation and if the rays were allowed to
reach the surface of the Earth, then our planet would be uninhabitable for life (Lutgens3). Ozone
depletion and over exposure to enhanced UV B radiation can lead to deadly melanoma skin cancer,
increased eye cataracts, and damages to the near surface oceanic phytoplankton, which is the basis of
the food chain. The natural depletion of the stratospheric ozone chemistry cycle has been severely
interrupted by ozone depletion associated with the decay of chlorofluorocarbons ( Links 4). These are
contained in a wide range of products, including aerosol sprays and refrigerants and insulating foam
packaging.
Ozone concentrations are measured by a Dobson spectrophotometer and satellite based instruments
and results from these measurements show a decrease in stratospheric ozone levels of about 1 percent
per year since 1979. Studies show that every 1 percent decrease in ozone should produce a 2 percent
increase in UV B radiation, and a 4 percent increase in skin cancer (Thompson5).
Recently in the Arctic, the presence of significant CIO in the stratosphere has been established
(Thompson 6). This shows the process of ozone destruction in the Arctic. In this case, the ozone level
in the Arctic also decreases. The frequency of this is not known. There may be a relationship between
large volcanic eruptions and even greater loss

The Comparison And Contrast Of The 1905 And February...
The Comparison and Contrast of The 1905 and February Revolution There is a substantial difference
between the 1905 Russian Revolution and the February Russian Revolution. To begin with, a
revolution is defined as a major, sudden and therefore usually violent alteration in government and in
related associations and structures. The nature and origin of these two revolutions were somewhat
similar, but there were still many differences that outweighed the similarities. The origins of the two
revolutions differ. The 1905 revolution happened due to long term discontent such as the
dissatisfaction of peasants of workers following Witte s economic policies of squeezing the peasants
out of more money than anyone could afford, or the oppression of intelligentsia that occured to stop
the ideals of modernisation something the Tsar was not able to adapt to. Also, the nationalism of
minority groups submitted to Russification was growing. While the dissatisfaction remained intact

During the 1905 revolution, 400,000 peasants went on strike. The February revolution also had the
soldiers on its side one of the main reasons why the 1905 revolution was not a success, was that
soldiers were ordered to shoot at the civilians (such as during Bloody Sunday, the spark of the 1905
revolution, during which shots were fired at peaceful protesters) while during the February Revolution
the soldiers refused to shoot at the protesting crowds and eventually joined in the protests against the
Tsar, whose support was fastly eroding. Officers were beaten up and even killed and therefore
Nicholas II lost control of the army. This is extremely significant as with the soldiers battling against
oppressive autocracy, there was a small line of defense for the Tsar and opposition to the Revolution
could be taken out easily (such as police). With the majority of people against the Tsar, united in their
battle, their chances of success

Within an ideal attachment relationship as suggested by Mary Ainsworth (1963, 1967) in the strange
situation procedure, the caregiver acts as a secure base where to the infant can return during

proposed the maternal deprivation hypothesis based on the belief that infants are biologically
predisposed to form attachments to a caregiver, founded upon the caregivers ability to respond
appropriately to the infants needs. The maternal deprivation hypothesis proposes long term damage
due to absence of attachment with a caregiver during the critical or sensitive period, within the first
two to three years of life. Caregivers responses to emotional cues through such things as affect
attunement, in which the care giver is sensitive and attuned to the infants emotions, as well as the care
givers own representation of their childhood experiences, as indicated by such thing such as AAI are

Suffering In Sophocles Oedipus The King
From Greece to Rome and to Britain, the world s most renowned philosophers and literary writers
have tackled the concept of suffering. From Sophocles Oedipus the King, to the poetry written by
Jonathan Swift, John Donne and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, multiple literary scholars have
demonstrated suffering throughout the last couple centuries. Whether it may be sexual suffering as
seen in the work of John Donne s His Mistress Going to Bed, and Jonathan Swifts The Lady s
Dressing Room and A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, or the emotional, physical and psychological
suffering in Oedipus the King, literature s greatest authors have allowed audiences to experience a

The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in fact,
rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he did in A
Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and misogynistic
approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of Strephon, a young
man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer psychologically from what
he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind, to all the charms of female kind
. Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus the King but is psychologically
scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately
disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at
the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that
audience members are truly aware of Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for
Strephon, his suffering is quite humorous. After Strephon runs away from Celia s chamber, the reader
is reminded of how foolish his actions and reaction to his discovery of Celia s bodily functions were in
fact, they were

Automatic Response To Stress Essay
Psychological and physical well being and the overall quality of life are under a constant threat of
stress and thus, psychological and medical sciences have long been concerned with studying stress
response. Cox (1979) claimed that because of the poor understanding and defining it, the concept of
stress tends to be rather elusive. The term, stress , commonly describes any physchological or physical
alteration that deranges the organism s homeostasis (or balance). This essay reviews some of the
biological factors involved in stress and it has been organized in the following way. The paper begins
by briefly introducing the concept of stress. It will then go on to discus and describe the automatic
response (fight or flight reaction), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trouble begins when multiple life incidents hit us all at once and this is because during periods of
dramatic changes, individuals are more vulnerable to stress (Jones Bright, 2001). Therefore, stress has
got the ability to activate pretty every system within the body, however, through a rather rudimentary
mechanism which lies within the cellular level (Shreedhar et al., 2010).
Humans experience similar dramatic physiological stress responses as other species. That is to say, the
physique response to a stressor prepares the body for rapid physical action (fight or flight). More
rarely, as Rudinger (1988) argue, sitting paralysed by fear may constitute another response to stress.
The fight or flee stress response involve extremely rapid, virtually immediate, changes within the
muscular systems and organs (Pinel, 2006).
When the sense organs (of hearing or sight) receive the alarm signal they instantly pass it to the brain.
Then the brain sends messages to the muscles and organs and therefore, muscles contract, often very
abruptly. If the state of alertness is prolonged, muscle activity and tension remain high in order to
prepare the body of reacting quickly to any subsequent stimuli. In a fight or flight situation, heart rate
changes. Furthermore, there are a series of chain reactions. The first thing that happens is that the heart
starts to beat faster in order to pump a copious supply of blood to the essential

Formal Analysis Of Dance Dawg
What type(s) or genre(s) of dance was (were) presented?
During the first performance, I watched the dancers perform to the hip hop song Worth It so of course
their choreography was hip hop combined with a little street dancing or twerking . During the second
performance, the girls performed a jazz routine to the song Shut Up and Dance With Me.
How did you participate?
For these performances I didn t actually get to participate. I did however, watch the dancers and
analyze their movement. They were amazing so I cheered for them throughout their performance and
sang along to the songs.
What did you expect the event to be like?

All of my expectations were exceeded for both performances. The performances were very different
from each other and its quite amazing how one team can be so perfect at two completely different
styled of dance and perform two completely opposite routines in such a short time frame. In both
shows the dancers had great intervals and moved in synchronization.
What was the most memorable dance, section or element for you? Why?
The most memorable part of the hip hop show was when the dancers did a large hair flip followed by
a big strut and lots of hip movement paired with the use of their hair and arms to accentuate the
movement of their hips and torso.
The most memorable part of the jazz routine was when the girls did six pirouettes, turned into an
attitude leap that transitioned straight to floor work. Everyone moved simultaneously so it looked as if
they were one unit and not separate dancers. Even the details were perfect every leap was the same
height, every leading foot hit the floor at the same time and every toe was pointed.

The entire concept of sharing one s testimony is subjective. A believer can tell someone about their
horrible past, but if they did not know the believer before they were a believer, the testimony could
fall flat. Additionally, it is an non provable method, since it is a personal feeling or experience the
person is describing, not concrete proof. Finally, there is an issue with duplication by other religions,
meaning that other religious believers have a testimony and experience to share, as well. Relying
solely on the experiential apologetics leaves the apologist open to a myriad of problems with proof
and deniability of their testimony.
CONCLUSION
Experiential apologetics proposes that knowledge of God and his grace has to come from a personal
experience which then leads to acceptance of God s truth expressed in the Scriptures. This personal
experience may come from a testimony of a believer to an unbeliever, or through direct experience of
a non believer causing them to become a believer. While several proponents of this method have
developed different interpretations of the form over time, the basic principle still remains valid that a
shared experience can help to save a lost soul. Although experiential apologetics are considered one of
the personal and intimate forms of apologetics, it is also considered one of the weakest forms due to

School Life In High School
When I think about my freshman year to my junior year there are things that have been the same and
things that have been different. I have experienced a lot in the couple years I have been at senior, and I
have lots to say about the high school life.
The one thing that I would say never changed and kept the ram fam together is Nasty Nation. Nasty
Nation is what we call ourselves at games and many different activities. We have a twitter page that is
called Nasty Nation. I followed it my freshman year and it told me when the games were, what the
theme was and if I didn t go to the game they would post the score as the game is going on. The games
were always my favorite thing to go to in high school. I would dress up to my fullest ability and cheer
on the rams.
Another thing that never changed was the level of stress I had each year. Between homework, work,
school, family, friends, and a boyfriend life was not the easiest sometimes. I have been super happy,
anger, and I have cried at least accouple times in the past three years from being here. I m not going to
lie I had come to the point accouple times where I wanted to just give up and drop out, but I knew that
would not be a very smart thing to do. The amount of stress coming into high school was there and
coming out it s still going to be there.
The last thing that never truly changed was the people that go to Dubuque Senior High school. I am
graduating with the same people that I went to middle school with and some

  • 2. Literature Review On Social Movements II. LITERATURE REVIEW Social movements (SMs) have been part of society s history and politics for centuries. For some authors, they started with the French Revolution and have been constantly rising and falling depending on the existent socio political climate (Reichmann Fernandez Buey, 1994). For Charles Tilly, the nineteenth laid the groundwork for the modern social movements of the twentieth century (Tilly, 1998). Karl Marx also studied and developed the concept of SMs; he viewed them as a means of achieving a deep social change through class conflict (Tarrow, 2011). Studied in relationship to the rise of globalisation and social media, the expansion and modernisation of SMs has become increasingly prominent in the academic literature of the last century. Accordingly, Globalisation has made it possible for individuals to empower themselves through participation in supranational organisations and international organisms that challenge governmental authority. As evidenced by Manuel Castells, populations around the world are now able to come together to affect change by expressing ideas and demonstrating in support of pressing issues (Castells, 2009). Chile has been no exception to the trend of globalisation and has participated in and developed a number of strong international social movements. The academic literature on social movements is vast. Since there are many types of SMs that focus on different aspects of human life (economic, social, political and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Poem Howl Historic Analysis of Howl Howl was a poem written by Allen Ginsberg in 1956. For us to understand the poem it is necessary for us to understand the history behind the poem. Howl was published in 1956, right after the devastating World War II. After WWII that s when the American dream was in full force throughout the whole world. Many Immigrants were trying to migrate to the US at that time for a better living. At the same time media was becoming big and powerful gaining trust from citizens while television was on its peak being the most important part of the media growth as it exported an immense number news to consumers. While Americans were busy with the new experience of having, news transmitted to them on the comfort of their houses, others worked hard to get a movement started, from the streets, to the bars at night. A group of poets would gather together to express their arts of literature written by them. Ginsberg s Howl was Beat generation s first heartbeat, as the poem was first performed at Six Gallery in San Francisco in 1955 it was the moment when Beat generation was built. As the poem was published in 1955 with the City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco, the poem was considered one of the best American poem to be performed. The members of that movement were professional writers although Howl was the first foremost Beat generation work to be printed. The beat generation style of writing was something different that nobody had the guts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Objectification of Women in Advertisements Essay The objectification of women is a huge issue in society and is often led by advertising. However many men still believe that the adverts depicting women in a sexual and often passive posture are not very offensive but rather very funny or sexy. However how would they feel if it were their daughter or sister being advertised throughout the world as a sex object? The Tiger Beer advertisement shown in the appendix is a clear example of the objectification of women in advertising. The Tiger Beer advert was made to appeal to men from the age of 20 to 60. The advert seeks to get a cheap laugh from the target audience with the image of the woman in a sexual pose and the picture of the beer. The ad promotes the idea that beer is the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another problem is the first place award associated with the beer and the third place award placed next to the woman. Also the copy is somewhat offensive as it clearly implies that the best things to come out of the Far East are prostitutes and beer. The problem with the woman s stance and sexual nature is that she is viewed merely as an object that must compete with beer for male attention. This stereotype is repeatedly used in several ads where it is expected that the woman should be competing to pleasure the man like beer does. It uses the stereotype of the man who simply must be pleased all day long by beer, women, footy, and fast cars. This stereotype has also appeared in the BMW ad featured in the appendix which shows a woman having sex with a man while the man thinks about the new car he saw in a magazine. This ad also shows the man as someone whose attention must constantly be satisfied with beer, women, footy or cars and each of these elements must compete for his attention whether it s an inanimate object or a woman. The advert makes a joke about the sex industry in Asia clearly implying that Asian prostitutes are an object designed to give men immediate pleasure. The ad puts beer and prostitutes into the same category of things required to please a man. The fact that women are lower than beer in this category appeals to the stereotypical moron who thinks the most important things in life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Importance Of Countermeasures For Social Networking Countermeasures for Social Networking Because social networking has exploded in popularity so quickly, companies and individuals have not had much time to deal with the problems the technology has brought to bear. Surveys taken in recent years have found that many companies either do not have a policy in place regarding social networking or are unaware of the risks. Recently, however, people are slowly starting to become aware of how big the danger is and that they need to take steps to protect themselves. Company policies should touch on appropriate usage of social media and networking sites at work as well as the kind of conduct and language an employee is allowed to use on the sites. Currently about 40 percent of companies have implemented a social networking policy; the rest have either suggested doing so or are not doing anything. Many individuals and companies have been burned or heard about someone else getting burned and have decided to do something about the issue. Social networking can be used relatively safely and securely as long as it is used carefully. Exercising some basic safety measures can substantially reduce the risk of using these services. Consider recommending and training users on the following practices: Discourage the practice of mixing personal and professional information in social networking. Although you may not be able to eliminate the company information that is shared, it should be kept to a bare minimum. Always verify contacts, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Youth America Narrative It all started in 2016. It was a summer day in June at a camp called Youth America. That Summer day started terribly. It was a burning day at Youth America and an exhausting day as well. We had to set a slide up on a grass hill, this slide used mattresses, a pool cover and pool floats, plus soap and water. We had to carry these items for a while. We walked carrying these items to where the coaches were going to set this up. The coaches and the volunteers put this slide together on the grass hill. They used this ramp from the storage room. They poured a lot of soap on it, then the water from the hose. After building this slide, if we wanted to, you had to go to your cabin and get your bathing suit on. I did not want to do it so I just watched ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was interesting how tough it got. After this terrible, great, bad, fun day we sat down and got calm after the game, ready for a sermon. I got excited when I heard that Monica Pankratz was going to preach. She walked on stage and said boys can you please exit to the right so you will have a sermon outside with my husband. So right at that moment the boys left the room. Monica asked everyone this who loves Jesus christ every day of your life? , and the room got loud and quickly filled up with cheer. After that she had us take our seats and get ready for prayer. After she prayed the worship team came up and we jumped up and worshiped. The last song was a slow steady song, I mainly paid attention to the words. At that moment I got teary eyed because those word where really powerful and really touched my heart because of the two deaths before and the word it said. After we sat down and chilled. The title was Believe . Jaden and I shook our heads as if you were saying yes and said ok in a confused voice. What the picture she put in our heads is that image if you were a tree you need to dig your roots in the soil so if a storm comes you can stay on to him if he was the soil. I took lots of notes about the sermon. The main key thing was about how we need to believe in him and trust in him when we are going through something rough times, and we need to take his hand and go through this journey with him instead of ... • 7. My Papaw Short Story My papaw, Fred, has always played a role of being easy going and simple. He s about six foot, has wire glasses, wears khaki Carhart overalls everyday and when you stand close enough, his afternoon smoke will put your senses on overdrive. He drives a small, bright red pickup truck, along with every other man in Kingsport, that you can almost taste the gasoline when it passed. • 8. Pros And Cons Of A Representative Democracy Stauffenberg, Griffin Analytical Paper #1 Take it all the way back to when the constitution was being written. The founding fathers had a big choice to make; did they establish a direct democracy or a representative democracy? They had to weigh the pros and cons of each and they ended up deciding on a representative democracy. In this paper I will tell you why they made things the way they did and certain compromises they made along the way. Some of the major features in a direct democracy are that the people get to directly elect things such as the president or for laws to be passed or not. The big advantages of a direct democracy are that voting takes much less time as it is just a vote among all the citizens, people see the the changes they voted for take effect faster, and people feel like their vote is valued and powerful. The downsides to a direct democracy are that sometimes the popular vote isn t always the right vote and people realize that after it s too late to change what they did. Around the time of the American Revolution the majority of people were considered, too uneducated to govern themselves (Schmidt, et al, 5). When our constitution was being written many of the founding fathers did not believe that the common people were ready to govern themselves, so they set up a representative democracy instead of a direct democracy. James Madison thought that if we did implement a direct democracy it would, deteriorate into mob rule (Schmidt,et al, 5). A major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before you visit your optometrist s office, here are some merits of each option to help you decide: Glasses: Easy to clean: Unless you are perspiring heavily or get something splashed on your glasses, they will usually only require a soft cloth to rub any dust or dirt away. If they have spots of sweat or other liquids, this can be removed with a mild solution of warm water and dish soap. Low chance of eye infection: Unlike contact lenses that are placed on your eyeball, glasses rest upon your face. After handling those issues, only then will the company is ready to proceed with the next step. Euro Disney has learned many lessons, the foremost being that the countries reception of a company can positively or negatively affect the sales of said company. This is evidenced by the extremely negative reviews and harsh French criticism received by Euro Disney and the company not meeting expectations. The park should not be adapted for the local market because that is not what the consumer is looking for. The main Theme of this movie is Faith. The plot and Characters develop this theme in a few ways. When the film opens up we have a bank robbery scene in the city of gotham and we encounter the joker, our antagonist. Because of this we see a chain of crimes happening around the city and the people of Gotham turn their faith toward the Batman. This is the basic plot of the film where the protagonists are trying to restore people s faith back into the city and the police force. While its initial reception was less than stellar, it has since become a standard film in home collections. Theatrical performances, games, and many other derivatives of the brand now exist. Despite this, it has also generated a fair amount of controversy. For example, it contains scenes that allude to Darwin s theory of evolution, and others that display negative racial stereotypes. Yet the most controversial scene at the movie s premiere was the animation of Beethoven s Sixth, the Pastoral Symphony. This feature upset many classical music lovers who objected to the idea of giving Beethoven s symphony an explicit storyline and a set of images that he did not have in mind. The Pastoral Symphony is likely the most familiar example of program music, but most musicians and critics seem to agree that this does not give a free pass to any form of interpretation. In the intro to Fantasia, the narrator addresses this by cautioning the listener that the video clips were created based on the musical interpretations of animators, not of trained musicians. From that cautionary message to articles published as recently as this year, Fantasia remains a topic of controversy, influenced by factors such as audience familiarity and general views on Beethoven himself. It lies above the troposhere, the miles thick lower layer where air is densest and where most weather occurs. So, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If ozone did not act to filter a great deal of the ultra violet radiation and if the rays were allowed to reach the surface of the Earth, then our planet would be uninhabitable for life (Lutgens3). Ozone depletion and over exposure to enhanced UV B radiation can lead to deadly melanoma skin cancer, increased eye cataracts, and damages to the near surface oceanic phytoplankton, which is the basis of the food chain. The natural depletion of the stratospheric ozone chemistry cycle has been severely interrupted by ozone depletion associated with the decay of chlorofluorocarbons ( Links 4). These are contained in a wide range of products, including aerosol sprays and refrigerants and insulating foam packaging. Ozone concentrations are measured by a Dobson spectrophotometer and satellite based instruments and results from these measurements show a decrease in stratospheric ozone levels of about 1 percent per year since 1979. Studies show that every 1 percent decrease in ozone should produce a 2 percent increase in UV B radiation, and a 4 percent increase in skin cancer (Thompson5). Recently in the Arctic, the presence of significant CIO in the stratosphere has been established (Thompson 6). This shows the process of ozone destruction in the Arctic. In this case, the ozone level in the Arctic also decreases. The frequency of this is not known. There may be a relationship between large volcanic eruptions and even greater loss ... • 30. The Comparison And Contrast Of The 1905 And February... The Comparison and Contrast of The 1905 and February Revolution There is a substantial difference between the 1905 Russian Revolution and the February Russian Revolution. To begin with, a revolution is defined as a major, sudden and therefore usually violent alteration in government and in related associations and structures. The nature and origin of these two revolutions were somewhat similar, but there were still many differences that outweighed the similarities. The origins of the two revolutions differ. The 1905 revolution happened due to long term discontent such as the dissatisfaction of peasants of workers following Witte s economic policies of squeezing the peasants out of more money than anyone could afford, or the oppression of intelligentsia that occured to stop the ideals of modernisation something the Tsar was not able to adapt to. Also, the nationalism of minority groups submitted to Russification was growing. While the dissatisfaction remained intact when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the 1905 revolution, 400,000 peasants went on strike. The February revolution also had the soldiers on its side one of the main reasons why the 1905 revolution was not a success, was that soldiers were ordered to shoot at the civilians (such as during Bloody Sunday, the spark of the 1905 revolution, during which shots were fired at peaceful protesters) while during the February Revolution the soldiers refused to shoot at the protesting crowds and eventually joined in the protests against the Tsar, whose support was fastly eroding. Officers were beaten up and even killed and therefore Nicholas II lost control of the army. This is extremely significant as with the soldiers battling against oppressive autocracy, there was a small line of defense for the Tsar and opposition to the Revolution could be taken out easily (such as police). With the majority of people against the Tsar, united in their battle, their chances of success ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attachment is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across time and space McLeod (2009), as a core component of social and emotional development, the necessity and role of caregivers is a heavily researched area. Theories differ on the impairment that a crippled or complete lack of attachment causes to an infant in terms of social, emotional or intellectual development. These theories range from Harlow s unethical work with infant rhesus monkeys to Chisholm s study of Romanian orphans, the work remains relevant however in order to be aware of how to support or setback the deleterious affects that studies appear to be congruent on occur in infants of abuse or that have been abandoned. Within an ideal attachment relationship as suggested by Mary Ainsworth (1963, 1967) in the strange situation procedure, the caregiver acts as a secure base where to the infant can return during exploration of the environment if the infant feels insecure or fearful. John Bowlby (1969, 1988) proposed the maternal deprivation hypothesis based on the belief that infants are biologically predisposed to form attachments to a caregiver, founded upon the caregivers ability to respond appropriately to the infants needs. The maternal deprivation hypothesis proposes long term damage due to absence of attachment with a caregiver during the critical or sensitive period, within the first two to three years of life. Caregivers responses to emotional cues through such things as affect attunement, in which the care giver is sensitive and attuned to the infants emotions, as well as the care givers own representation of their childhood experiences, as indicated by such thing such as AAI are known to predict infant attachment to a caregiver. • 34. Suffering In Sophocles Oedipus The King From Greece to Rome and to Britain, the world s most renowned philosophers and literary writers have tackled the concept of suffering. From Sophocles Oedipus the King, to the poetry written by Jonathan Swift, John Donne and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, multiple literary scholars have demonstrated suffering throughout the last couple centuries. Whether it may be sexual suffering as seen in the work of John Donne s His Mistress Going to Bed, and Jonathan Swifts The Lady s Dressing Room and A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, or the emotional, physical and psychological suffering in Oedipus the King, literature s greatest authors have allowed audiences to experience a character s suffering and emotions in various forms sexually, emotionally, physically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in fact, rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he did in A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and misogynistic approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of Strephon, a young man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer psychologically from what he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind, to all the charms of female kind . Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus the King but is psychologically scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that audience members are truly aware of Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for Strephon, his suffering is quite humorous. After Strephon runs away from Celia s chamber, the reader is reminded of how foolish his actions and reaction to his discovery of Celia s bodily functions were in fact, they were ... Automatic Response To Stress Essay Psychological and physical well being and the overall quality of life are under a constant threat of stress and thus, psychological and medical sciences have long been concerned with studying stress response. Cox (1979) claimed that because of the poor understanding and defining it, the concept of stress tends to be rather elusive. The term, stress , commonly describes any physchological or physical alteration that deranges the organism s homeostasis (or balance). This essay reviews some of the biological factors involved in stress and it has been organized in the following way. The paper begins by briefly introducing the concept of stress. It will then go on to discus and describe the automatic response (fight or flight reaction), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trouble begins when multiple life incidents hit us all at once and this is because during periods of dramatic changes, individuals are more vulnerable to stress (Jones Bright, 2001). Therefore, stress has got the ability to activate pretty every system within the body, however, through a rather rudimentary mechanism which lies within the cellular level (Shreedhar et al., 2010). Humans experience similar dramatic physiological stress responses as other species. That is to say, the physique response to a stressor prepares the body for rapid physical action (fight or flight). More rarely, as Rudinger (1988) argue, sitting paralysed by fear may constitute another response to stress. The fight or flee stress response involve extremely rapid, virtually immediate, changes within the muscular systems and organs (Pinel, 2006). When the sense organs (of hearing or sight) receive the alarm signal they instantly pass it to the brain. Then the brain sends messages to the muscles and organs and therefore, muscles contract, often very abruptly. If the state of alertness is prolonged, muscle activity and tension remain high in order to prepare the body of reacting quickly to any subsequent stimuli. In a fight or flight situation, heart rate changes. Furthermore, there are a series of chain reactions. The first thing that happens is that the heart starts to beat faster in order to pump a copious supply of blood to the essential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A believer can tell someone about their horrible past, but if they did not know the believer before they were a believer, the testimony could fall flat. Additionally, it is an non provable method, since it is a personal feeling or experience the person is describing, not concrete proof. Finally, there is an issue with duplication by other religions, meaning that other religious believers have a testimony and experience to share, as well. Relying solely on the experiential apologetics leaves the apologist open to a myriad of problems with proof and deniability of their testimony. CONCLUSION Experiential apologetics proposes that knowledge of God and his grace has to come from a personal experience which then leads to acceptance of God s truth expressed in the Scriptures. This personal experience may come from a testimony of a believer to an unbeliever, or through direct experience of a non believer causing them to become a believer. While several proponents of this method have developed different interpretations of the form over time, the basic principle still remains valid that a shared experience can help to save a lost soul. Although experiential apologetics are considered one of the personal and intimate forms of apologetics, it is also considered one of the weakest forms due to

I have experienced a lot in the couple years I have been at senior, and I have lots to say about the high school life. The one thing that I would say never changed and kept the ram fam together is Nasty Nation. Nasty Nation is what we call ourselves at games and many different activities. We have a twitter page that is called Nasty Nation. I followed it my freshman year and it told me when the games were, what the theme was and if I didn t go to the game they would post the score as the game is going on. The games were always my favorite thing to go to in high school. I would dress up to my fullest ability and cheer on the rams. Another thing that never changed was the level of stress I had each year. Between homework, work, school, family, friends, and a boyfriend life was not the easiest sometimes. I have been super happy, anger, and I have cried at least accouple times in the past three years from being here. I m not going to lie I had come to the point accouple times where I wanted to just give up and drop out, but I knew that would not be a very smart thing to do.
