This study identifies a previously unrecognized muscle, the tensor vastus intermedius (tvi), situated between the vastus lateralis and vastus intermedius in the quadriceps femoris group. Based on dissections of 26 cadaveric lower limbs, the tvi is shown to have its own independent innervation and vascularization, with distinct morphological variations. The findings challenge traditional anatomical descriptions of the quadriceps and highlight the need for a revised understanding of its architecture.
