Course: Film and Television Production
I am applying to study the Film and Television Production BA (Hons) course to
learn new skills, techniques and practices for Film and TV production. This
courseallows me to achieveit best by teaching a wide variety of topicswith the
core knowledge modules in the first year, that then progress to making two
different films in the second year followed by a major project module in the final
year of the course. By undertaking this course I will be able to produce more
varied work and gain an in-depth understanding of the production methods to
allow me to lead production on small projects and coordinate larger
departments in big projects/productions. After studying this course for three
years Ihope to continue my studies by taking either a Film and Television
Production Ph.D. or MA degree to improve on my skills that I gained from my
undergraduate course. Or I hope to start work for any small film companies and
work my way up to larger companies or productions. I have a particular
production company in mind that Iwould love towork for, as they also produce
trailers and posters for their social network pages for each of their television
programmes which excite me every week, and I would love the chance to be able
to do the same to inspire other people to want to work in the media production
industry one day.
During my time at college, I have produced a short film, advertisements, a short
film script, a corporate video for the NHS (James Paget University Hospital) and
a documentary, which are either required pieces of work during the course at
your university or are optional modules during one of the three years. For all
three of these productions, I have undertaken all the necessary pre-production
paperwork such as location recces, talent releases, risk assessments etc.
Throughout my timeat college, I have learned how to use Adobe Premiere Pro,
Photoshop and Adobe Bridge for multiple assignments of work which were both
individual assignments and group work where I worked well with my group to
produce short films and advertisements for a Unilever product. I have also used
variable spotlights, green screens and various microphones throughout my
Television and Film Production BTEC. In addition to this, I have been heavily
inspired to work in the TV and Film industry from my favourite programs made
by the CW who produced advertisements and trailers for each episode of their
programs. I have followed these programs on social media sites for years now
and still love watching all of the behind the scenes footage that they produce
which, include videos with producer/scriptwriter commentary telling views
what to expect in the upcoming season of the program. Overall the skills I have
learned and the inspiration that I’ve had for years makes me a suitable and
powerful student for the Film and Television production course.
