2. 1 EXT. COUNTRY ROAD THROUGH A FOREST. FALL, DUSK 1
The 4x4 is driving down a road and the headlights are
switched on as it turns round a corner with NATHANIEL (43)
driving and SYDNEY (5) in the passenger seat.
CUT TO
2 INT. INSIDE THE 4X4. FALL, DUSK 2
SYDNEY lifts herself off her booster seat slightly and gazes
out of the window gloomily then SYDNEY (5) slumps back down
and watches her father for a few moment.
SYDNEY
Daddy why did you turn the heady
lights on?
NATHANIEL
(Quietly and nervously)
Because it’s getting dark sweetie.
SYDNEY
(Quietly and slowly)
But... I can still see you.
NATHANIEL
And I can still see you too.
Nathaniel continues to keep his eyes fixed on the road
focused but trembling his breathing.
SYDNEY
(Frustrated)
But you didn’t look at me daddy.
How can you see me if you don’t
look at me.
NATHANIEL
Because...
NATHANIEL takes a hand away from the week and wipes the
sweat and welling up tears away.
NATHANIEL
Because, if I get distracted I
might crash again...

3. 2.
3 INT. FREEWAY THROUGH A FOREST. SPRING, LATE AFTERNOON.
FLASHBACK 3
NATHANIEL is driving down the freeway listening to the radio
whilst SYDNEY (4) and REBEKAH (17) are doing their own
thing. SYDNEY is in the back playing with a doll whilst her
REBEKAH is fixed to her phone in the front passenger seat.
NATHANIEL
(Awkwardly)
So... Thought anymore about college
yet REBEKAH?
REBEKAH
(Bluntly)
Nope.
SYDNEY
(Abruptly)
I have Daddy! I want to become a
nurse.
NATHANIEL
(Happily)
That’s lovely sweetie. See REBEKAH
your sister already knows what she
wants to do.
REBEKAH
(Arrogantly)
Does she though? Does she really?
You can give it a week and she
would’ve changed her mind at least
what? 2? 3...
NATHANIEL
(Angrily)
That’s enough REBEKAH!
REBEKAH cowers away back to her phone quickly. SYDNEY drops
her doll onto the floor.
SYDNEY
Daddy I dropped my doll onto the
floor!
NATHANIEL
I can’t do anything right now
SYDNEY. REBEKAH are you able to
reach it?
(CONTINUED)

4. CONTINUED: 3.
REBEKAH
(Annoyed)
Ummmm, yeah if I just...
REBEKAH unfastens her seat belt and go to lean over but
NATHANIEL put his arm in front of her to stop her abruptly
and suddenly.
NATHANIEL
(Furious)
I said if you can reach it
REBEKA...
REBEKAH shoves his arm away.
REBEKAH
But it’ll only take a sec...
REBEKAH quickly proceeds to reach over into the back of the
car and loses her balance and tumbles into the wheel and
gear stick and sends the car into a wretched tumbling turn
and break that runs it in front of a lorry that sends
it crashing down multiple lanes which screeches and churns
as it lands on its roof.
(Camera placement: Inside the car by the dashboard sitting
on the interior car roof.) SYDNEY’S head is bleeding heavily
and she mumbles and cries in a panic.
SYDNEY
(Confused/Dazed)
Daddy...?
The camera remains in the same places but pull focus to
bring the father knocked out in his seat with his hand with
a wedding ring on (Close up to the camera) in a expanding
pool of blood. REBEKAH remains motionless eyes half open
cuts, gashes and blood covering her face.
FADE OUT
4 INT. CAR. COUNTRY ROAD THROUGH A FOREST. FALL, DUSK/NIGHT 4
NATHANIEL is driving whilst tears start to fall down his
faces and SYDNEY watches him.
SYDNEY
(Worried/Slowly)
Daddy...? Why are you crying?
NATHANIEL realizes that he’s crying and wipes his face clean
with a hand and glances over to SYDNEY.
(CONTINUED)

5. CONTINUED: 4.
NATHANIEL
(Quietly)
It’s nothing SYDNEY. Nothing that
you don’t need to remember.
NATHANIEL moves a hand to scratch where his wedding ring
once sat. He stares at the empty space on his finger. He
turns back to the road and slams on his breaks and the car
comes to a stop meters away from a small figure on the road.
SYDNEY gasps horrifically in a panic and NATHANIEL breaths
heavily for a few moments.
FADE TO WHITE
5 INT. HOSPITAL WARD. FLASHBACK. SPRING. NIGHT TIME 5
A doctor (Age: 24. Newly graduate look/persona) walks into
the room and adjusts his uniform uneasily and nervously and
he stares at NATHANIEL sat on the side of a hospital bed who
is staring at his blood soaked hand with the wedding ring in
his palm.
DOCTOR
Mr Mikaelso...
NATHANIEL
(Interrupting. Quiet/shocked
voice)
Nathaniel. Call me Nathaniel
DOCTOR
Very well. Nathaniel I’m afraid I’m
here to tell you that your eldest
daughter...
(Breaking down emotionally)
I’m afraid she didn’t survive the
car crash. The paramedics weren’t
able to do anything by the time
they arrived at the scene... It was
too late I’m afraid.
NATHANIEL starts to fumble with the wedding ring in his hand
as he looks up a little towards the DOCTOR.
NATHANIEL
(Shocked/quietly)
Sydney? What about Sydney?
DOCTOR
During the crash... I’m sorry to
say that your youngest daughter
Sydney suffered severe concussion.
(MORE)
(CONTINUED)

DOCTOR (cont’d)
She’s being looked at now but she
has no memory of the crash. The
last thing she remembers was
dropping something in your ca...
NATHANIEL
Her doll. It was her dol...
NATHANIEL is interrupted by his cubicle curtains being
yanked open as CLARISSA (41) looks at him. Distraught and
shocked she just stares at him.
DOCTOR
I’ll give you two a moment.
The doctor leaves slowly behind CLARISSA not wanting to
break her stare.
CLARISSA
(Distraught and shocked)
What happened Nathaniel? What
happened?
NATHANIEL looks up at CLARISSA. Tearing up slowly then all
at once.
NATHANIEL
(Breaking down)
It all happened so fast. It just
happened so fast.
CLARISSA
(Tearing up and broken)
What... Happened to my girls?
FADE TO BLACK
6 INT. COUNTRY ROAD THROUGH A FOREST. FALL, DUSK 6
NATHANIEL is sat shocked, breathing heavily and sweating.
SYDNEY
(Shouting)
Daddy!
NATHANIEL’s haze is broken as he turns to SYDNEY. He looks
at her confused.
NATHANIEL
What? What happened?
(CONTINUED)

7. CONTINUED: 6.
SYDNEY
We nearly hit a girl in the road.
You stopped the car. Then you just
sat there Daddy.
NATHANIEL
(Shocked)
Wait... The girl where is sh...
SYDNEY
(Interrupting her father
sweetly)
Oh, BEKAH’s sat in the back.
NATHANIEL spins round to see BEKAH sat behind him staring at
him from under her jackets hood.
SYDNEY
She’s going where we are daddy! Can
she come too?
NATHANIEL
To your moms house?
NATHANIEL turns back around and looks out in front of the
car.
SYDNEY
(Excitedly)
Yeah
SYDNEY smiles in her seat as she turns around and looks at
BEKAH.
SYDNEY
My sister has a name like yours.
She’s called REBEKAH. She went off
to grown up sch...
NATHANIEL starts driving again quickly, shocked at the
mysterious girls name interrupting Sydney as he starts
driving. BEKAH sits motionless piercing her stare through
the seat in front of her. As SYDNEY goes to speak but
decides not to.
BEKAH
(Digetic dialogue)
It was your fault I died in that
crash... Father... I didn’t want to
go with you and your little
princess SYDNEY but mother made me.
(CONTINUED)

8. CONTINUED: 7.
NATHANIEL
SYDNEY can your hear that?
SYDNEY
Hear what daddy?
NATHANIEL
(Scared and confused)
Nothing sweetie it was nothing.
BEKAH
(Menacingly. Non diegetic)
Nothing? Nothing! What happened
that day ruin your life. But it
ended mine.
NATHANIEL starts running his hand through his hair,
frustrated and sweating with fear. SYDNEY stays in her seat
motionless which NATHANIEL is oblivious to her as he breaks
the car suddenly in the road. NATHANIEL goes to turn around
and face BEKAH despite being scared and afraid he turns to
see SYDNEY motionless in her seat.
NATHANIEL
(Worried and scared)
SYDNEY?
NATHANIEL reaches out and goes to shake SYDNEY. Only to pull
his hand back in shock as she’s freezing cold. He stares at
BEKAH who returns the stare with a crooked smile.
BEKAH
(Sympathetically)
Oh I’m so so sorry. If only she
knew what she did that day to me.
If only I could save her.
NATHANIEL
(Shouting)
What do you want from me?!
BEKAH
(Sinisterly)
I want you to tell her what
happened to REBEKAH. I want you to
tell her what happened to me...
NATHANIEL cowers back at the revelation. His eyes start to
water up.
NATHANIEL
(Shocked and scared)
What? No you can’t be...
(CONTINUED)

9. CONTINUED: 8.
BEKAH
Oh but I am. And the same fate will
come to her.
BEKAH slowly lifts her left hand up to point at SYDNEY.
NATHANIEL turns to look at his daughter, his real daughter
as her skin slowly turns pale, her face becomes bony as her
eyes turn dark.
NATHANIEL
(Pleading)
Please stop it I’ll tell her what
happened that day.
(Shouting)
I’ll tell her everything!
NATHANIEL turns to look at BEKAH who is stood outside of the
car. Her door ajar with BEKAH peering through looking at
NATHANIEL.
BEKAH
Oh you will.
The car door slams shut with immense speed as SYDNEY begins
to stir waking up to her normal self. NATHANIEL turns back
preparing to drive again. Looking fearful as her drives off
back down the road.
NATHANIEL
(Scared)
SYDNEY... I need to tell you what
happened to your sister. What
happened to REBEKAH.
FADE TO BLACK
7 EXT. OUTSIDE A COUNTRYSIDE HOME. FALL. NIGHT 7
NATHANIEL is stood outside the open front door. CLARISSA is
standing on the other side of door staring at a broken
SYDNEY. Her face red and face mumbling with murmurs.
NATHANIEL
...and that is what happened. That
is why I had to tell her.
CLARISSA
I think you need to leave. I’ll
take care of my daughter. What’s
left of her anyway.
(CONTINUED)

10. CONTINUED: 9.
CLARISSA reaches out and takes SYDNEY into her home and
slams the door on NATHANIEL. NATHANIEL turns to leave and
see’s BEKAH sat in his car SEAT smiling at him.
