Here we have discussed everyone's roles within the team and what they have to do to achieve the role. We have also discussed why the people chosen for the role are the most suitable ones to do that rather than someone else from the team.
1. Team Roles:
Director: Rhiannon Troop
For the director of the music video, we needed someone that is confidentand willingto tell people what to do.
They also need to tell the actors exactly what they think of the performance in order to get the best quality
shots needed. With this in mind we decided to go with Rhiannon as the director as she is very closefriends
with the actors and therefore willingto tell them exactly what she feels about their performance and she also
knows exactly how shewants the shots to look. She also feels confidentin tellingthe actors to try new
approaches and askingfor the shots to be taken multipletimes because she wants the video to have a
professional finish to it.
Producer: Rhiannon Troop
For the producer, we need someone that is very organised and is ableto decide what we are filmingand
where. We also need someone that knows all of the shots we want and if they don’t go how they are imagined
someone that can quickly think of ideas of how to improve them. For this we decided that Rhiannon should be
the producer becauseshe is very organised and sheis ableto decide when we are goingto filmand what we
are goingto film. She also knows how to tweak and improve things so that they go better and look more
effective for the music video if needed.
Camera: Josh Parker
For the camera we needed someone that is used to filmingand has a steady hand. For this we choseJosh
because he goes out filmingin his sparetime, he also filmed our lastmedia piece which came out to be of very
good quality. He is ableto use a range of camera angles and different shots in order to make all of our shots
look the most effective. This means it would be much easier to use him the teach someone elseto make a
video which may or may not be of as good quality. We also used him becausehe has his own camera which in
some shots we had to have two set up and as itis his heknows exactly how to use itwhich makes itquicker for
us to set up the equipment and begin filming.
Sound: Josh Parker
For the sound we need someone that is used to doingthat roleand can easily seeif the sound is goingto be
loud enough to be included within a music video. We also, need someone that is experienced with using
microphones and sound equipment so that the shots are done quickly and efficiently. For this we decided that
Josh should do the sound as he is used to producingvideos and therefore knows the right sound for the
diegetic sound that is being included atthe end of our video for the outro. He is experienced and is ableto use
the equipment quickly and mostof the equipment is his so he knows exactly how to use it.
Editing: Rhiannon Troop and Josh Parker
We needed someone that is comfortableusingthe editingsoftware and knows how to use itto match all of
the scenes perfectly. As Rhiannon and Josh areexperienced in usingthe software from usingit for the film
opening the year before. We have both decided to take up the rolebecause then we can both get our ideas
across of what the most suitabletransitions areto use and we will be ableto work as a team to make our
production suitablefor the target audience. We both feel we have a good enough understandingof the
software to make the music video look proficient.
2. Photographer: Rhiannon Troop and Becca Clarke
When filmingwe need to take photos to prove that we have been fil mingand to add to our filmingupdate
posts on the blog. For this we need someone that knows how to take pictures and use the camera equipment.
For this we decided Rhiannon and Becca should do this as we aren’t usingthe camera to do the music video
and we areableto take pictures whilstJosh is filming. We also decided to make a vlogof the locations wehave
been too and the situations we get in when filming. This is again goingto be used for the filmingupdates as
evidence that we have done the filming ourselves.
Main Girl: Milly Williams
For this rolewe needed a teenager and preferably someone that was in a relationship.Wealso, needed them
to be confident in the actingand be prepared to do as we ask them. We chose to includeMilly for this role
because sheis confident in actingand she is a teenager. She therefore fits the target audience and because
she has a boyfriend it makes the music video easier for her to do the actingthat we require. Milly looks her age
which makes her a perfect fit for the rolegiven to her within the video.
Main Boy: Ben Fenwick
For this rolewe needed another teenager which was again preferably in a relationship and with a bitof acting
experience. We decided to use Ben becausehe is Milly’s boyfriend and therefore they will feel comfortable
doingrelationship things together. He is also very confidentand not afraid to be in front of the camera. Also,
with him being ableto drive is a bighelp as many of the shots we wanted to includewere in the car with the
boy in the driver’s seat. He also looks hisagemakinghim fit the target audienceand therefore be more
appealing.
Dancer: Freya Clarke
For the dancer we clearly needed someone that knew how to dance and to make it look cinematic. We needed
someone that could match the rhythm of the songon the spotand make it look emotional. For this we decided
to useFreya because she regularly attends dancetrainingand competes often. We knew she was a very good
dancer and she can be serious when it is needed. She is also good friends with us all makingiteasier for her to
get alongwith us all and makethe team work well together. However, as the dancer is meant to be Milly we
have to ask Freya to adaptthe dancingand make itso the audiencesees her face as littleas pos sible.Which
being a dancer and she is ableto make things up on the spot she should be ableto do that effectively and
make itlook likeitis partof the dance routine.
