TEACHING STRATEGIES
Julie Collette Early Childhood Ed. –ED330
Problem Solving Strategy
 To apply learned material to a situation, such
as math problems or social conflicts. Using
learned information to help in a new situation.
 This strategy benefits children who struggle
with social issues on a regular basis.
 Example- Two children arguing over a bike at
recess and concluding that they take turns.
Multiple Intelligences Strategy
 This learning strategy incorporates all seven
    intelligences. Including
    spacial, musical, verbal, kinesthetic, intraperso
    nal, interpersonal, and logic/math.
 All types of learners benefit from this strategy
because of the multi learning skills in each
    area.
 Example- Different children having different
skills in various areas, but learn from each
    other from observing one another.
Technology Strategy
 Using technology to help supplement the
current lessons being taught in a classroom
    environment.
 This helps visual and hand on learners most.
 Letting visual learners use software on
computers to embark on the learning process
    of their ABCs.
Management Strategies
 Sharing classroom jobs is a classroom
management strategy that teaches students a
    responsibility trait.
 This benefits all learners to become helpers
    and leaders among their peers.
 Example- I helped show this to children by
giving the children a chore chart that changed
regularly with various chores to help show
    them responsibility and team work
    characteristics.
Classroom Management Strategy
 Another classroom management strategy is to
label the classroom with pictures and words.
This is a High Scope curriculum practice.
 This is helpful to all children to give
association with pictures and words as well as
helps them be independent to put away their
own items when done with them.
 Example- This strategy is very helpful during
‘clean up time’ and helps them organize the
    classroom.
                           Label------
Getting to Know You Strategy
 This strategy is made up of five questions and you
write the students answers regarding their
name, birth place, number of siblings and names
of siblings, and how many pets. Then we write the
answers on the board and discuss similarities and
    differences.
 This helps the non-social learners get to know
    their peers.
 Example- During circle time, using a ball, have a
child roll the ball to another child and ask one of
the five questions to that child. Children laugh and
    have fun, while making friends.
