A formal proposal for my magazine

1. Task 9: Formal Proposal
Title: Electric
Explanation of Genre: I have chosen rock as my genre because I feel like there
is a gap in the market, within the publishing company I am going to use. In
addition, through extensive research I have become more knowledgeable on
this genre as a whole as well as bands/artists suitable to feature on my
magazine.
Target Audience:
AGE – 16-22
GENDER – Male and Female
ETHNICITY - White
LIFESTYLE - Student, Interested in Music (Rock), Sociable
CLASS - Middle
Initial Ideas about Front Page: Mid-shot for image. Masthead not covered, in
focal point. Consistent colour scheme. Barcode presented with issue number
and price. Main image linking to main coverline. Buzz-words and selling line
included.
Initial Ideas about Contents Page: Use columns to structure, same colour
scheme as front cover. Masthead included but smaller. Images linking with
coverlines. Page numbers clearly link to coverlines.
Initial Ideas about Double Page Spread: A large image of the models covering
most of one of the pages. Other smaller images that look similar to an
interview setting on other page. Actual text relatively small. Drop-cap used.
Consistent Colourscheme.
Initial Ideas about Photographs: Use props such as guitars/microphones for
main image. Use direct mode of address to target the audience. Mise-en-scene
to reflect genre and match colour scheme. Potentially use white screen/full
colour background.
