The banner along the bottom of the page with article information Other articles which are in the magazine are shown on the cover I replicated a number of these conventions in my final product:
  3. 3. EVALUATION REPRESENTATION REPRESENTATION <ul><li>The front cover model that was used and also the models thought out the magazine represent our target audience. The models are mainly all female and of the same age as the audience we are targeting. This is for instance shown on the front cover, with the model being female and 17. The model also fitted in with the music gene of the magazine, the models clothes are bright and alternative. The style relates to the modern day music stars which are all depicted though the genes which we choose. </li></ul><ul><li>The double page model also represents the style of music in are magazine, she is in leather with a old rock band t-shirt. This relates back to are target group by being high fashion but also relating back to the music gene which is in our magazine. </li></ul>

  5. 5. <ul><li>Most music magazines have the same certain lay outs that, mainly target the male market. Are music magazines are different and do not target the same market. We created are cover to be more similar to a fashion magazine to help it appeal to the female market.   6. 6. EVALUATION REPRESENTATION The use of the reds and blacks should appeal to both males and females but the slightly pick tone in the title should appeal to females more. The stripes of red create a contrast to the colour of the writing and al Modern yet formal font: this makes the article clear and easy to read and stands out to the reader. The change of colour for the hair in the pictures and a more modern and alternative look to the pictures. EVALUATION IDENTIFICATION OF TARGET AUDIENCE IDENTIFCATION OF TARGET AUDIENCE <ul><li>To identify our target audience we used Burton’s Theory . </li></ul><ul><li>According to Burton’s Theory, I concluded that our target audience is: </li></ul><ul><li>Age: 16-24 year olds </li></ul><ul><li>Gender: Unisex, leaning more towards female </li></ul><ul><li>Class: ABC1 </li></ul><ul><li>Location: Western </li></ul><ul><li>Using Burton’s Theory, I concluded that our target audience’s media group is: </li></ul><ul><li>Type of music: Rock/Indie </li></ul><ul><li>To aim more towards the female social group, the magazine will contain more information about artists in the music industry. This is due to us feeling that there is a gap in the market for this type of magazine. </li></ul>

EVALUATION APPEALING TO TARGET AUDIENCE APPEALING TO TARGET AUDIENCE <ul><li>I used questionnaires and interviews to find out the preferences of my target audience. </li></ul>One main clear image with the smaller articles advertised around it. A simple but modern layout with the main articles and pictures relating to them. Clearly set out, main article is advertised on font cover The red stripes and the different hair colour help to attracted the reader.

EVALUATION TECHNOLOGICAL SIDE TECHNOLOGICAL SIDE <ul><li>I used a Canon PowerShot S95 to take the photos and Photoshop to edit them and produce my magazine. </li></ul>Resize the images and change the colours of the hair. Change font colour, size, style and position Make columns for text so it is similar to real magazine Added coloured bars behind the text with certain text inside.
  10. 10. I download the Polaroid's from photoshop to create the collage effect in the picture above. I copied and pasted the layers in order to make this effect. I used the text tool to create the information in the boxes. This was to make them in line and to have them in the same colour. The next stage was adding in my pictures into the Polaroid's to create the collage look. I used copy, paste and crop tools to accomplish this. This is the finished product for my contents page. EVALUATION FROM PRELIMINARY TO MAIN PRODUCT FROM PRELIMINARY TO MAIN PRODUCT <ul><li>Doing the preliminary helped me to observe which areas I needed to improve in and gave me a opportunity to try out ideas for layouts and colours. EVALUATION MEDIA INSTITUTIONS MEDIA INSTITUTIONS <ul><li>The type of media institution that might distribute our magazine would be a multi-national company. </li></ul><ul><li>Their priorities are to inform readers of the latest music news whilst also making a profit. </li></ul><ul><li>A possible publisher would be Bauer Media Group , the publisher of Q, or IPC Media , the publisher of NME, as these magazines are similar to our magazine. They also have other magazines aimed at a similar target audience so the advertising costs of our new magazine would be lower. </li></ul>
