Client Brief- You have been asked to give a talk on the current uses of motion graphics to a
careers convention for 16-year-olds.
Own brief- I wanted to design a short ident that is colourful and involves a element of the TV
show Mr Robot. The ident will use a lot of special and visual effects.

3. Specification
Audio Settings and Video Settings
Video format is the technical structure of an electronic movie or video. The main
types of video format would be HD, SD, PAL etc. HD is the highest resolution. It
either runs on 720p or 1080p. If I were to upload a video on YouTube the
compressed files that I would use is MPEG 4. The reason for that is that it has a
better video quality even if the video that you upload is a SD video. MPEG 4 has
better sound quality as well as video quality. MP3 is a digital music format for
creating high-quality sound files. It has transformed the way people buy and
listen to music.

4. Legal and ethical considerations:
When designing the Ident, I need to make sure that I comply to many ethical laws to make sure I don’t
offend the users. During the design specification I need to pay attention to all the details, such as the
colours, words, symbols and fonts to ensure that these don’t offend anyone in any way. For example, if I
use a symbol I need to know the meaning of that symbol because if your target audience is multicultural,
and the symbol has a religious meaning it can really offend those who follow the religion such as a crucifix,
cross or star of David. From research it’s been shown that sexual call of interests is used for advertising.
Sex draws the public attention in advertisements, but then again minus much brand appreciation. Women
pay a main focus in sexual advertising in the past and present, but now men are beginning to be used as
sex object in advertisements. Even though you can take careful planning, it’s possible for advertisers to
find a common ground and use sexual appeals without offending people in the process. I’ll stay away from
using sexuality in my project. When designing my digital banner, I need to take into consideration that it
needs to fit the attention of male, female and other genders. This would involve me using female and
male images and not just one gender type because that will give the audience to the feeling that they’re
not welcome or meaningless to the website.

5. Legal and ethical considerations:
Decency- in deciding the process of selecting images for the banner I have to make sure
that it was appropriate for children cause that is the main target audience. Most of the
games are old and them times women perceived as visual objects. This means the
female characters were designed to have big explicit features. I decided to stick on the
safe side and use a male character as my main.
Libel- I used content which are owned by big companies that are known for suing those
for using their content. In my work I have used content that are labelled for reuse to
avoid that from happening.
intellectual property rights- These property rights allow the holder to exercise a
monopoly on the use of the item for a specified period

Here is me typing the text for the company
and using the character tool to adjust the
design of the text. I flicked through a couple
of examples till I found a similar design to
MR ROBOT.

8. Effects
The Strobe Light effect performs as an
arithmetic operation on a layer .This makes the
colours of a layer invert at random intervals.
This effect was used for the background and
text of the ident. This is found in the toolbar
under name Effect.

9. Rendering
Rendering is the creation of the frames of a movie
from a composition. The rendering of a frame is the
creation of a composited two-dimensional image from
all the layers, settings, and other information in a
composition that makes up the model for that image.
Choose File > Export > Add to Adobe Media Encoder
Queue
Choose Composition > Add to Render Queue
Render settings apply to each render item and
determine how the composition is rendered for that
specific render item. By default, the render settings for
a render item are based on the current project
settings, composition settings, and switch settings for
the composition on which the render item is based on .

10. Upload
When importing videos to YouTube its very easy because all you have to do is import the file into the
upload area. Then this will upload because the file I exported is compatible to YouTube.

11. Reflection on final product
When I finished my final product I was happy with how the ident came out. I didn’t have any
struggle during the process of the creation of the ident and everything compared with my
original intentions. The ident displays the company's name in the centre of the ident and shows
examples of vibrant visuals that fit its selling point, therefore the ident works perfectly for the
purpose its intended. If I had more time I would have made the background of the Ident more
creative and had it have the motion more spread out instead of the same rotation. The ideas I
generated were independent and relied on my own creativity and with the help of the clients
personal image.
