TASK 2 &3
• Brief

• Script
• Technical considerations
• Facilities/location/props
• How to make it interactive or immersive
INTRODUCTION
• My digital video production is going to be a creation of a 360 video. The 360 video is going to
be about the experience of how birds fly in the air and how it feels to be a animal that fly's.
When handling delicate and expensive equipment I have to be careful in the manner I use it. The
task will require me to have the 360 camera elevated in the air to capture a more realistic view of
the flight of a bird. So when I'm holding the equipment I have to make sure that I don’t walk into
any walking pedestrian. My designated target audience will be directed to young nature lovers
that have a interest in birds and wildlife. The age bracket that I will be targeting is those aged
between 3-16 however the topic of the project is suitable for those of all ages. To record my 360
video I will be using a Samsung Gear 360 Spherical VR Camera and this will be attached to a
monopod to get that high point of view. The location of the video will need to be set in a
environment which sets the atmosphere of a bird ,so a park or forest that has trees and a
setting.
STIMULUS
• client brief- You have been hired by a production company to shot, produce and upload a 360 video
onto YouTube with the narrative of your choice. The video is designed for the viewer to make keys
decisions guiding the story to conclude one positively and the other negatively.

EQUIPMENT-
• Samsung Galaxy Gear 360
-The Samsung Gear 360 is the first 360 degree camera by
Samsung Electronics. It was released as a part of the Samsung
Gear family of devices. It uses two cameras to take 360° photos
and videos.
• Monopod
-A monopod, also called a is a single staff or pole used to help
support cameras.
• Laptop
-This was used to edit and preview the recording footage.
IDEAS
• Brainstorming • Storyboard
LEGAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
• When designing the 360 video, I need to make sure that I comply to many ethical laws to make sure I don’t offend
the users. During the production I will need to pay attention to all the details, such as the clips, people , houses and
companies to ensure that these don’t offend anyone in any way. For example, if I use a person in the clip I will need
to know that the person is okay of me recording and also having symbols in the clip captured because if my target
audience is multicultural, and the symbol has a religious meaning it can really offend those who follow the religion
such as a crucifix, cross or star of David. From research it’s been shown that sexual call of interests is used for
advertising. Sex draws the public attention in advertisements, but then again minus much brand appreciation.
Women pay a main focus in sexual advertising in the past and present, but now men are beginning to be used as sex
object in advertisements. Even though you can take careful planning, it’s possible for advertisers to find a common
ground and use sexual appeals without offending people in the process. I’ll stay away from using sexuality in my
project. When planning, I need to take into consideration that it needs to fit the attention of male, female and other
genders. This would involve me involving female and male images and not just one gender type because that will
give the audience to the feeling that they’re not welcome or meaningless to the website. When recording I will need
to make sure that there's no company or brands in the footage because that can result in legal action because I
don’t have the rights to use the companies logo while earning from it.
VIDEO SEQUENCE SPECIFICATION
• The most 360 video formats we are seeing now are in .mp4 file extension, encoded with MPEG4 (as
standard resolution) or H.264 (as higher definition). In addition, some panoramic Videos are MOV, F4V
and the like. The built-in formats of 360 degree videos on YouTube are mostly MP4 and Webm; and
those on Facebook are MP4 videos in MP4 codecs. All of The VR immersive videos on YouTube and
Facebook can be downloaded onto your PC free with an online video downloader. The file size of a
360 video shouldn’t be larger than a non-VR video (common SD/HD/4K video). And unlike 4K UHD,
downloading a 360 video won't increase the burden on your computer, USB or HDD. For most of the
360 video experience, it uses 1280×720 HD resolution to encode videos. Higher resolutions won’t
make the video quality any better, which will result in waste of space and processing power.
• The images, depending on the format and resolution, usually don’t result in too much bandwidth
usage, and especially the background images (the actual 360 equirectangular images) shouldn’t be
larger than 1.5 MB.The issue lies with the videos we use, both 360 videos and standard videos. Initially,
when we rendered our videos, being around 30 to 40 seconds long, the file size for each one of them
was between 40 and 60 MB
PLAN
Planning guides you to your
destination, by setting targets ,
testing the feasibility of the
business idea and make sure
resources are employed at the
right time. Having a visual
setting plan involves clarifying
your vision and setting specific
objectives, goals and
operational targets, which if
met, will keep the company on
the right path.
PLAN
For efficient workflow I
made a production
calendar to keep track of
my progress in work. You
can see the Milestones in
production.
LOCATION
St. George's Gardens- The Gardens were once the burial ground for two
nearby churches. It has a few trees In a small surface area so the bushes
are compact. This location is the most productive because its very close
to the college where the equipment is kept. This will be very time
efficient and useful for recording purposes.
Hampstead Heath- is a island of beautiful countryside, Hampstead
Heath lies not on rich wildlife and extensive recreational
opportunities. The location is almost a 1 hour from the college
which means travelling will occupy a few minutes of time. The
location of Hampstead heath is relatively busy.
Hyde Park- Hyde Park provides a unique habitat in the heart of
London for a diverse variety of bird species. The trees, shrub beds
and herbaceous plantings provide rich habitats for birds. The location
is about a 1hours away from college as well and is usually busy.
SHOT COMPOSITION & SHOOT VIDEO ASSETS:
• When it comes to 360 videography, perspective is incredibly important. Luckily, the 360
perspective is similar to our everyday vision, so you don’t have to be a professional
cinematographer to get great shots. One of the best things you can do when looking for a
potential location is look for angles that captivate audiences. Try finding a perspective that
emphasizes the height and scale of your shooting location. In short, if it’s impressive from your
real life perspective, it’ll likely be impressive in 360. This usually means shooting near tall
buildings or in areas with clear leading lines.
• Involving your audience doesn’t necessarily mean breaking the fourth wall. When it comes to
360, it’s important to the editing, your audience’s perspective can’t change to a new shot mid
scene, or at least it would be shaking if it did. Cause ill be pretending to be a bird I’ll have to
treat the scene as if im acting on a stage. Think of the best way to involve a spectator while the
scene unfolds. This can mean anything from elevating the monopod up and down to represent
the birds movement.
