Drop Cap
To create a drop cap, you need to highlight the letter
that you want and press Paragraph Formatting Controls,
then you resize the Drop Cap Number of Lines to your
preferred size
Columns
To create columns, you create a big text box
covering the page. Then you press Paragraph
Formatting Controls and go to Number of
Columns and input as many as you want
By line
All you need to do is create a text box
and put above or beside the article.
It should always say who the article is
written by
Inputting your Masthead
Open Photoshop and make a new
Transparent page
Then, open the page that the masthead is
on
Select the layer your masthead has and
drop it into the Transparent page
Save it
Open Indesign and File>Place your
masthead that you saved
Pull Quote
Copy the text that you want
Paste it into another text box
Make sure you are on Selection Tool
Then press the “Wrap around object shape” on the
upper toolbar
Coloured Boxes
Press the rectangle icon and make the
shape you want.
To add colour, you can either open the
swatches bar on the right and edit the
colours of what you want
Or you can double click this icon and
add in the colours
Pages
Click and drag the pages in this order for your
double page spread to be included in this
layout.

Headline
The headline
describes the article
in a simple sentence.
It is usually catchy or
appealing for the
reader
Pull Quote
A pull quote is a
separate quote
that is mentioned
within the text and
is enlarged to
evoke a interest to
the reader. Usually
something
personal
Drop Cap
A drop cap is a
enlarged letter at
the start of the
article to show the
reader where the
article begins
Columns
The columns separate the text
from each other and space the
article out across two pages. It
can be a separate column for a
