3. HOW TO USE INDESIGN
1. COLUMNS
To create columns you must first create a text box. Once you have drawn a text
box where you want it to go (blue lines in the second picture)click on the paragraph
symbol and look for the column section and increase it to three.
4. 2. DROP CAP
First you need to highlight the letter you want to drop
cap, click the paragraph symbol at the top of InDesign
then find the drop cap item. Increase the size to
whatever you want, a typical drop cap would be about
3-4.
5. 3. BYLINES/HEADLINES/STANDFIRSTS
All you simply need to do for these is
highlight the text you want to change the
size of and increase the pt size. The
headline has to be bigger than the byline
and standfirst.
6. 4. GRAB QUOTE
For a grab quote you
want to section off a
small amount of text
which your person
has said in the article
and make it capitals
to stand out. Then
you want to increase
the size and change
the colour.
7. 5. PAGE NUMBERS
Click the text box tool and add a small text box to the bottom corners of
the article and add in the numbers which you want. To make them stand
out you would probably want to make them a different colour as well as
bold, or add a stroke.
8. 6. CREATE SWATCH
Simply click swatches on the right of the
screen and right click on a colour. Then
click new colour swatch and change the
hues of the colour to create a new colour
which you want.
9. 7. INSERT A PICTURE
The pictures are
easy to follow.
