DRAMA TARGETAUDIENCE
A drama film is a genrethat depends mostly on in-depth development of
realistic charactersdealing with emotional themes. Drama can fall under many
subgenreswhich each have their own targetaudiences. These include, romantic
drama, sportfilms, period drama, and crimedrama.
Traditionallydrama films appeal to both young, matureaudiences and older
audiences and both genders. This is mostly due to the strong scriptthat all
drama films offer and the rangeof themes and well written storylines that can
be found in any drama film or television show.
MY TARGETAUDIENCE
Teenagers and young adults
- Mostly Female
My Target audiencewould be teens as I believe that the meaning and themes
that run throughoutthefilm would be relatable and accessible to teenagers and
young adults. I intend to maintain the interest of this audienceby including
relevant ideas and themes, such as keeping the costume used relevant to this
time period. Technology used would be in date however keeping within a
realistic price rangeand accessible to the public, using this creates a relatable
atmospherein which the audience can place themselves into and draws them
into the storyline of the film. FurthermoreI am going to use teenage
protagonists so that it can be more of an appeal to the intended target
audience. To enhance the idea of popular interest, if I am to includemusic, I
wish to include relevant music in the opening titles this shows the audiencethat
the film has been set in the present and to show a greater understanding on
modern popular cultureand interests of the youth.
I believe that the audience drawn to this style of film would be mostly females
as there are two female protagonistsand the story that were to unravelaround
them is one of heroism and friendship between the two teens. This can be seen
as relatable to youths of a similar age to the protagonists.
