The document discusses various views on modern versions or rereleases of older songs. Some key points made include:
- People have mixed views but modern versions can be interesting adaptations
- As long as the genre isn't changed, one version shouldn't be liked over the other
- Rereleases can bring back memories of the original but can also be boring if it's just the same song
- The quality of the song determines whether a rerelease is worth listening to

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. 1. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MODERN
VERSIONS OR RERELEASES OF OLDER
SONGS?1 – I know some people have mixed views about them, and usually I do prefer the
original but modern versions can be really interesting with different adaptations.
2 – As long as there isn’t a severe difference, for example entirely changing the
genre, I don’t see how someone would like one version but not the other.
3 – I feel like they can be a bit boring, we have heard it before so I prefer just new
original songs, but I don’t hate them.
4 – They can bring back a lot of memories from when the original version was
released so its always nice for a little reminder.
5 – It really depends on the quality of the song, if it’s a rerelease of a song that I
love then I’ll give it a listen and see what it’s like but I can take them or leave them.
6 – I quite like rereleases, they’re usually quite good and its nice to see what other
people do with the song.
2. 2. WOULD YOU BE LIKELY TO WATCH
OUR MUSIC VIDEO OF A RERELEASE
DUE TO REMEMBERING THE ORIGINAL?
1 – I wasn’t really a Fleetwood Mac fan when the original was released but I would
give it a watch just to see if I like this one better.
2 – Yes definitely, I loved the original and would like to see what this artist has done
differently.
3 – I would probably watch it if I came across it but it is not something that I would
purposely search for.
4 – I would watch it because I remember the old song but also in the hopes that I’d
like this one as much.
5 – I wouldn’t watch it for that reason, if I like the new version then I would
probably go watch the video.
6 – I’d probably watch the music video anyway, it would just be a bonus that I would
remember the original.
3. 3. DO YOU PREFER A MODERN OR
TRADITIONAL REPRESENTATION OF
WOMEN IN MUSIC VIDEOS?1 – I prefer a mix of both, I don’t enjoy the over the top modern representations like
Miley Cyrus and Lady GaGa but it shouldn’t be too traditional as this can cause
offence.
2 – I think mainly traditional views of women is the best, there can be some modern
representation but not a lot in my taste.
3 – Modern representations of women are more popular now as women are more
powerful and strong and it is nice when that is shown in music videos.
4 – I would prefer to see a modern representation of a woman in music videos, the
strong and modern portrayal makes it more relatable.
5 – I don’t really mind either way, I more watch music videos for the song than the
actual performance.
6 – Probably a modern representation as some people could find traditional
representations boring and outdated.
4. 4. DO YOU PREFER NARRATIVE OR
PERFORMANCE BASED MUSIC
VIDEOS?
1 – I like narrative based music videos the best as they tell a story and keeps
the audience entertained.
2 – Narrative based videos are more interesting to me as constant
performance shots can get boring.
3 – I like a mix of both, when the shots are broken up with different
performance shots.
4 – I feel like performance shots can be really effective if they’re used
correctly and so I’d enjoy that most.
5 – I prefer when the music video tells a story, if you want a performance
then go see the band live.
6 – I don’t really have a preference, I like them both.
5. 5. WHAT LOCATIONS COME TO
MIND WHEN YOU HEAR THE SONG
‘DREAMS’?
1 – I’m not sure maybe like a beach or woodland?
2 – Somewhere with a lot of light, really bright places!
3 – Maybe some shots of the sky? Some outlandish things if possible.
4 – When I used to listen to the original I would be sat in the garden in the
summer so that’s what I think about.
5 – I like the idea of fields and countryside's and wooded areas.
6 – I’m not sure, like maybe some things you wouldn’t see normally.
6. 6. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT
COULD BE SHOWN IN A MUSIC
VIDEO THAT COULD OFFEND YOU?
1 – Nudity!!
2 – Something that would imply sex or offensive gender representations.
3 – Bad language if there is any.
4 – Abusive relationships or nudity.
5 – General bad representations of people, or things that would give the
video an overall bad vibe.
6 – Blood and gore, definitely.
7. TO FOCUS ON THE BREAK DOWN OF A
RELATIONSHIP AND THE IDEA OF GETTING
OVER SOMEONE WHO IS NO LONGER
WITH YOU. HOW DOES THIS APPEAL TO
YOU?1 – It seems really relatable, everyone will have been through a similar experience at
some point or another.
2 – Reminds me of my teenage years, very clever I’m excited to see how it is
presented.
3 – Reminds me of my second marriage.
4 – I had a divorce, it doesn't appeal to me.
5 – The idea is really clever but it may be presented in a way which could offend
some people.
6 – It is quite a sensitive issue for some people and may be hard to portray.
