2. Avril lavigne’s hit song
‘Skater Boy’ was released in
2002. It reminds me of my
childhood when I was around
the age of 7. I used to watch
the music video over and over
again, I liked how it told a
love song but was also
understandable for me at that
age. The genre that Avril
used to sing was generally
pop punk. She was the only
‘rock chic’ around at the
time, it was quite enticing
how different and individual
she was with pink and green
hair and ripped clothes. I
wouldn’t listen to this song
any more that that I'm 18;
other to reminisce on old
times with my sister.
3. My style soon changed when I first
become a teenager, I went from rock
chic to hip hop. I loved the song oopsie
daisy by Chipmunk, the words were
easy to remember and the rhythm
was easy to dance along to. I was only
around year 7 or year 8 at school so I
think most of the music I was into at
that time was to fit in and have
common denominators with my class
mates. Chipmunk was a rapper, this
genre of music was just becoming
popular again since the likes of
Eminem and other popular rappers
from a few years ago. The links
between this song and Avril Lavinge’s
‘Skater Boy’ are that they both tell a
love story, and the song itself is one
that’s catchy and easy to join in and
sing along too. I think also they were
popular songs when they were first
released, so I clearly liked the
pretty main stream music growing up.
4. ‘Reverse sky diving’ by Hot Natured
is a song that I have recently
discovered and enjoyed. I listen to
it when I am with my friends or
when I am getting ready to go out.
I first found my love for this song
when I was on a holiday recently in
the summer with a few of my girl
friends. We went to magaluff and
reverse sky diving was played over
and over in every club we went to!
I think I like this song so much
because it does make me think of
being in Magaluff and also because
of the reason that it is cheerful
and happy, and a pleasure to listen
to. This song is more of a partying
song in comparison to the others,
its not as popular in this country
so its not on the main stream radio
stations etc, therefore my music
taste has definitely changed and I
am beginning to enjoy different
types of music.
