SWOT ANALYSIS about CLIL
STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
 I feel comfortableusing the
L2 as the main language.
 I love using cooperative and
collaborative technics during
my classes, which arebasic
in the CLIL methodology.
 I am organized and I like to
have everything well-
planned beforehand.
 I find hard to arrive to all my
students using the L2.
Sometimes I tend to
translate the important
things into their L1.
 The feeling of frustration
when a topic takes longer
than I thought before,
because they learn slowlier
using the L2.
 Poor coordination with the
specialist English teacher.
 Very shorttime of
experience in teaching (in
general) and more
concretely in CLIL.
OPPORTUNITIES THREATS
 Motivated children to learn
through games and
innovative activities.
 A growing awareness in the
society and education to
learn foreign languages.
 New resources thatfacilitate
the learning-teaching
process, and permit to our
students be closer to the
linguistic and cultural
diversification of the world.
 Lack of good materials
(manipulative resources,
scaffolding already done,
good editorials…) to
implement CLIL.
 Lack of time to produce all
the resources I would liketo
use to implement my classes
 Teachers level of English is
not always enough (it’s only
compulsory to have a B2)

SWOT activity

  • 1. Why not CLIL? 1 SWOT ANALYSIS about CLIL STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES  I feel comfortableusing the L2 as the main language.  I love using cooperative and collaborative technics during my classes, which arebasic in the CLIL methodology.  I am organized and I like to have everything well- planned beforehand.  I find hard to arrive to all my students using the L2. Sometimes I tend to translate the important things into their L1.  The feeling of frustration when a topic takes longer than I thought before, because they learn slowlier using the L2.  Poor coordination with the specialist English teacher.  Very shorttime of experience in teaching (in general) and more concretely in CLIL. OPPORTUNITIES THREATS  Motivated children to learn through games and innovative activities.  A growing awareness in the society and education to learn foreign languages.  New resources thatfacilitate the learning-teaching process, and permit to our students be closer to the linguistic and cultural diversification of the world.  Lack of good materials (manipulative resources, scaffolding already done, good editorials…) to implement CLIL.  Lack of time to produce all the resources I would liketo use to implement my classes  Teachers level of English is not always enough (it’s only compulsory to have a B2)
