January 2024. Sustainable IT (Information Technology), also called Green IT, includes the development, manufacturing, utilization, management, and disposal of Information Technology in ways that are resource-efficient and environmentally responsible. Sustainable IT benefits: (1) Cost savings: energy, water, resources, materials, and waste management (2) Enterprise social image enhancement: many customers prefer to buy from businesses with sustainable practices (3) Positive environmental impact: less emissions and waste generation maximized by the use of clean renewable energy sources. Sustainable IT challenges: (1) High initial costs (2) Lack of green software (3) Lack of coding standards (4) Lack of implementation experience (5) Difficulty in identifying optimum sustainable practices (6) High energy use and emissions during development. Sustainable IT implementation steps using Artificial intelligence (AI): (1) Reduce emissions and water consumption (2) Improve energy efficiency (3) Monitor compliance (4) Benchmark sustainability efforts (5) Improve social impact and data governance. A green data center is an enterprise-class data center that is entirely designed, run, and operated using green technologies to maximize energy efficiency and minimize the carbon footprint. Examples of green technologies include software optimization, artificial intelligence, multi-site resilience, liquid cooling, renewable energy, waste heat utilization, idle time minimization, smart grids, and efficient lighting. Policy wise, in September 2023, the SDG Digital Summit was launched with the aim of scaling digital SDG solutions through high impact initiatives. The SDG Digital Acceleration Agenda is a collaboration between the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) that highlights the importance of digital technologies in achieving 70% of the 169 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Digital transformation. It’s the use of technology to create a better customer experience, improve products and services, and increase the effectiveness of business operations. But it really means what your enterprise must do to adapt and thrive.
Today’s smaller, emerging companies are born digital. They can — and do — change quickly to answer consumer demand or a competitive offering. Larger, mature enterprises must start with a shift in strategy, because all industries will be changed or already have been changed by digital transformation. Many, like news media and publishers, music, video and retail have been or significantly disrupted. Up next: financial services, healthcare manufacturing, insurance, legal, education, utilities and energy. The good news? No industry has been or will be completely upended.

Agility is here to stay. But dig a little deeper and you will see that fundamental strategic, structural and cultural issues exist that often prevent success within large organizations. Some organizations have learnt the hard way when it comes to the missing pieces of the puzzle around organizational agility.
I was recently asked by a new-ways-of-working team to help them apply business design to create the target operating model needed to enable structural, operational and strategic agility. Is this the secret sauce that’s been missing in the agility conversations?
In this talk I’ll discuss the broader issues around agility when creating the adaptive and fast learning organization. And discuss the "secret sauce" that is missing when it comes to business heuristics and patterns.
I will also look at the areas where agility is succeeding and failing and discuss the need for multi-disciplinary architects that can help with the transition across strategic, business and delivery lenses.

Craig also investigates the changes afoot with strategic business planning and Enterprise Architecture, which are experiencing their own form of disruption. Abstract— The computing industry has been a significant contributor to global warming ever since its
inception. Performance maximization per unit has cost remained the prime focus of academic and industrial
research alike, ignoring environmental impacts in the process if any. However, the infamous global energy
crisis has inevitably pushed power and energy management up the priority list of computing design and
management activities for purely economic reasons today. Green IT lays emphasis on including the
dimensions of environmental sustainability, the offsets of energy efficiency, and the total cost of
disposal and recycling. A green computing initiative must be adaptive and flexible enough to be
able to address problems that keep on increasing in size and complexity with time. Cloud computing concepts
can invariably be applied to reduce e-waste generation. The service oriented architecture lends itself to
incorporating green computing as a process rather than a product. Re-usability, extensibility and flexibility
are some of the key characteristics which are inherent to the cloud and directly help address the vertical
specific challenges to reducing energy consumption in the long run.

January 2024. Healthcare Waste (HCW), also called Medical Waste, refers to the hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated from healthcare facilities, including used needles, blood, body parts, chemicals, diagnostic samples, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
HCW sources include hospitals, laboratories, blood banks, dental clinics, ambulance centers, nursing homes, autopsy centers, veterinary clinics, and medical colleges.
Hazardous HCW types include infectious, pathological, pharmaceutical, genotoxic, and radioactive.
Non-hazardous HCW types include paper, plastic packaging, food (organic), aerosols, electronics, and glass.
Improper handling and disposal of HCW has negative impacts on the environment, human health, and on the economy: Incineration of waste produces carbon and GHG emissions, releases harmful pollutants, and can contaminate groundwater. Health risks include transmission of infectious diseases, radiation burns, immune and endocrine system impairment. Economically, lack of recycling leads to increased waste volume and higher landfill costs, while lost productivity is due to health problems associated with exposure to contaminants. Healthcare Waste Management (HCWM) is defined as the sustainable disposal of HCW using environmentally safe and cost-effective technologies while minimizing health risks associated with waste handling.
A sustainable HCW management strategy aims to avoid creating HCW from the beginning, or minimizing it to a large degree by (1) Using recyclable materials and biodegradable plastics (2) Reusing items such as glass, ceramic cups, and thermometers (3) Reducing packaging and medication waste and (4) Using food waste for compost and biofuel production.
Sustainable HCW management stages are (1) Collection by healthcare facility staff (2) Segregation of waste into regular non-hazardous waste, which will be sent to conventional municipal treatment facilities, and HCW. (3) Transportation of HCW from the healthcare facility to HCW treatment facility (4) Treatment using appropriate methods to achieve desired disinfection and (5) Disposal of treated waste in a HCW designated landfill.
Policy wise, in 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) launched a global initiative to ensure adequate water, sanitation and hygiene services in healthcare facilities, including addressing proper HCW treatment. Successful and sustainable global HCW management system can significantly contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 6, 8 ,12, and 13.

Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.
