Example Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous The name of the meeting was Grove City Wave Three Group, and it
was located at the United Methodist Church on 2710 Columbus Street in Grove City. The
meeting took place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held almost every Sunday. The reason I had
choose this location for the meeting was because it was near my home. When I first entered the
room I was expecting the stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a
circle of chairs in a room with no tables. But once I entered the room, there were plenty of seats
and it did not appear to be dark and gloomy. The room was located in the basement of the church,
and had the seats set were the participants are able to see one another. I was anxious of how other
members would react to my presence, considering I was in a church. I was greeted when I
entered the room. My anxiety slowly went away, when I realized that these are people really
dealing with a difficult issue in their lives. It reminded me of how vulnerable it can be to be
around others and admit to a weakness within you, to get better. It takes a lot of courage to go to
a meeting, and want to change. The members of the meeting varied in all ages and ethnicities.
There were young people as well as older people. When I was in the meeting I was asked to
introduce myself. I explained that I was a student and was interested in learning. The participants
were very understanding and did not mind at all. But it felt very awkward for me, because I did not
want to impose. One participant explained to me that there have been other students that have
attended meetings in the past. There was also another new member that came to the meeting as
well. He introduced himself, and explained his reason for coming. The others members commended
him for coming and congratulated him for attending and trying. The meeting was not anonymous
because the members had identified their first names. The meeting did not have any one leader, but
everyone in the meeting participated. There were a few participants that had roles such as secretary,
and other positions. The meeting began with an introduction, reading pledges. The focus of the
meeting was centered on reading the book Twelve Steps and Twelve

The Husband Loathes His Wife s Birthmark
I found the husband interesting because of the way he completely loathes his wife s birthmark. His
hatred seems to be a symbol of people who are not content in their wonderful situation. The husband
says that the wife s face would be flawless and beautiful if it were without the crimson birthmark.
He loathes this birthmark so much that he says it reminds him of sin and earthliness, opposed to
perfection and heavenliness. I find interest in the husbands character because of his hate towards a
little thing that can be covered with two fingers. This obsession makes me think that the husband
character is a representation of people who complain about a small imperfection, inconvenience, or
issue in their life. Near the beginning of the story,

Kellogg s Case Study
Question One:
There are three key sectors of the supply chain, namely; primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. The
former encompasses all processes and activities geared towards transforming natural resources into
primary products which are then to be used in manufacturing finished products (Choi, 2011). For
instance, the forestry industry falls under the primary sector bearing in mind the fact that it focuses
on transforming a natural resource, i.e. trees, into a primary product (timber).
On the other hand, the secondary sector is concerned with transforming the primary products
generated from the primary sector into finished products. For instance, Kellogg s is a ... Show more

This gives a candid explanation as to why Kellogg s entered into an agreement with Tesco meant to
allow its products to continue being displayed in the latter s stores. Kellogg s collaboration with
tertiary sector entities can also be attributed to its allure in ensuring it continues to purport
successful business activities. For instance, maintaining good relationships with banks makes it
possible for the entity to acquire additional funds to finance its operations or investment activities
(Leeman, 2010).
Question Four: The major benefit that can be realized from the decision of large manufactures like
Kellogg s to outsource some its activities to specialist companies like TDG is that of making the
former s supply chain and distribution channels to become more efficient. The achievement of this
objective is usually facilitated through the emphasis of these specialist entities to employ
computerized systems while purporting stock handling and logistic functions for their clients, with
this enhancing the timely and cost efficient delivery of stock in the larger manufacturers retail
stores (Choi, 2011). Moreover, these specialists assist larger firms such as Kellogg s to minimize the
wastages which normally occur within their supply chains, more so through streamlining their
transportation, distribution and storage systems (Leeman,

Protective Legislations For Women s India
Protective legislations for women in India and PWDVA, 2005 an analysis of Guwahati city
By: Bidisha Bora, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, R G Baruah College,
Gauhati University, Assam, India (e mail: saikia_bidisha03@yahoo.com ).
Abstract
This research paper will try to highlight the loopholes in the legislative provisions for women in the
Indian constitution. Legislations for women have been there since the British rule. Independent India
is not an exception. But some Indian customs and traditions set restrictions towards women
ignoring them to be an individual. Social construct is such that women do not come out to speak
about their plight in the public. Since independence, Indian women has got the right to vote and
many rights enshrined in the constitution, but the violence against women in the private domain
remained unseen in the legal provisions of the country. Many movements took place to make the
violence against women in the private domain to get legal sanction. Anyways, women get much
legislation under the Indian constitution for their protection yet none of these legislations have
clearly considered domestic violence as a crime till 2005. The failure of the existing provisions to
address the domestic violence as a crime has led to the implementation of the Protection of Women
from Domestic Violence Act in 2005. This study is an attempt to analyse the awareness level about
the act. This study will deal extensively with the legal

Example Of Greedy Algorithm
3 Greedy Algorithm
Greedy technique is an algorithm design policy, built on configurations such as different choices,
values to find objective .Greedy algorithms produce good solutions on mathematical problems. The
main aim is to find some configurations that are either maximized or minimized. Greedy
Algorithms provide a solution for optimization problems that has certain sequence of steps, with a
set of choices for each step. Another solution for Greedy algorithm is dynamic programming . It is
also used to determine the best choices. But greedy algorithm always makes the choice that is best
at the moment to provide the optimal solution for the problem. A greedy algorithm for an
optimization always provides the current sub solution. Basically greedy algorithm always gives an
optimal solution to the MST (Minimum Spanning tree)problem. Some Examples that are solved by
greedy algorithm are Dijkstra s shortest path algorithm and Prim/Kruskal s algorithms.
Greedy algorithm technique relies on following elements:
configurations: It consists of different choices, values to apply on data.
objective : some configurations to be either maximized or minimized to get the predefined objective.
Greedy algorithms are applicable to optimization problems ... Show more content on

Brexit Disadvantages
UK farmers have resented several articles of 1107/2009, desiring a more risk based approach that
is science led, similar to the one carried out by the US Environmental Protection Agency, where
more actives and products would be available through a faster and more pragmatic process. Nick
von Westernholz, CEO of the Crop Protection Association (CPA), believes that Brexit is the
golden opportunity to enforce pesticides regulations that support UK farmers and allow them to
trade on a global scale. Furthermore, Dr. Colin Ruscoe, President of the British Crop Protection
Council (BCPC) expresses his faith in Brexit as being the UK s time to take back control
(Loughlin, 2016). Farmers and the pesticideindustry believe that the current hazard based approach
is too stringent, placing the EU in a position of being economically unattractive in respect of the
development of new active substances and new plant protection products (Chapman, 2014).
As a result, safer alternatives are emerging while many active substances are being revoked with
the ban on neonicotinoids being the most significant. This represents a severe obstacle to
European farmers and will endanger their ability to produce the variety of plant produce to which
consumers have become adapted (Chapman, 2014). Simultaneously, the reduction in plant
production products generates a major risk to UK trade and competitiveness, with the NFU
manifesting its concerns over UK crop production flatlining (House of Commons Library, 2016)
and to food security. On the other hand, it could also be contended that a closer affiliation to US
legislation could suspend UK trade with the EU as they would no longer conform to their strict
regulations (Baker and Knight, 2017). Thus, abolishing would offend NGOs or international
trading partners within the EU as the EU represents 60% of UK agri food exports (Pesticide Action
Network UK, 2017).
Modify
The UK has, at no time, implemented a policy intended to reduce the utilization of pesticides in the
agricultural sector. Instead, under 1107/2009, the principles of acceptable risk have been ratified,
focusing on mitigating the potential destruction of pesticides by setting restrictions on the methods
of application (PAN UK,

Sand Castles
Sand Castles For our final discussion, I choose Sand Castles, written by Joseph Szewczyk
(author of the textbook modules we ve read this semester) and Jackie Schill. Eleven illustrations
make up the work. Aside from a few words hidden in the imagery s background, the only formal
text is in the last panel, referring to Michelle Wright who died in 2001, just shy of her 31st
birthday. I spent time searching online obituaries trying to discover more about this young woman,
but was not able to find any information about her. She must have had some connection to
Szewczyk and/or Schill. This is a sad, forlorn piece that required looking carefully at each image
for clues. At first glance, the cover illustration appears to be a woman applying makeup.... Show

In the first panel, she is blind, making her way down the street with a cane. Behind her is a
crumbled wall with graffiti on it saying, The war is over . To me, this represents the loss of a
struggle, a foretelling of Michelle s demise. Perhaps going blind was the final stage of her
illness. The remaining images are Michelle s memories as a child, as a dancer, and her lifelong
struggle with self image. In one panel, she s watching her mother use makeup, in another, her
mother is angry seeing Michelle play with makeup. One panel shows an anorexic teenager,
hidden in the background are the words Perfection and So thin I c[ould] disappear . Next to this
image sits a bald, depressed figure, no doubt a result of the cancer/chemotherapy drugs shown in
the foreground. These are all clues, leading up to the final image in the mortuary where Michelle
appears with beautiful flowing hair and a serene expression. I m not sure what the story s
overarching message is. It might be that in the end, she achieved the beauty she always sought, or
perhaps the story speaks to the broader issue of the sexualization of women. Looking back on her
life, Michelle s strongest memories are of how she looked, not what she had accomplished. The
story left me feeling

Energy Consumption And Economic Growth
In the late 1970s (during the energy crisis) and early 1980s, the relationship between energy
consumption and economic growth was in focus. Studies on oil prices have identified two main
categories: those on developed oil importing countries, which comprise most of the literature, and
developing oil exporting countries, which are scarce due to a lack of data in these countries.
More specifically, I have categorized the literature into three categories: First, I analyse studies on
developed countries, which are oil importers. Second, I explore the research on developing
countries, which are oil exporters. In oil exporting countries, oil revenue is the key funding source
of government expenditures, and therefore fiscal and monetary policies depend on oil prices
(Rosser Sheehan, 1995). And third, I analyse the research on Iranas one of the largest oil exporting
countries and also one of the biggest oil reserve holders.
Oil revenue plays an important role in Iran s economy. Iran is one of the largest oil producers and
the Iranian economy is largely based on oil revenue. Sanctions have targeted the oil sector and oil
exports to the global market.
Before and After the Revolution
The Iranian economy has always been heavily oil dependent. The production and consumption of
energy has changed in compare with before. Because of the sanctions and limited foreign
investment, production has decreased but consumption has increased because of population growth.

Mathematical Reasoning Cluster
The mathematical test is organized into three various categories. These three clusters measures and
test different skills off the examinee. The broad mathematical cluster, the basic mathematical skill
cluster, and the mathematical reasoning cluster (Woodcock McGrew, 2001). The broad
mathematical category measures skills in performing written math calculations and solving applied
problems. The basic mathematics part of the test measures computational skills and quantitative
problems. The mathematical reasoning cluster is solely composed of the applied problems test
(Woodcock McGrew, 2001). The written language test is also split into three different clusters. The
broad written language cluster, the basic written skills cluster, and the written expression cluster.
The broad written language part of the test measures the construction of single word responses of
the examinee and creation of sentences in context (Woodcock McGrew, 2001). The basic written
skill cluster of the WJ III measures the single word responses of the participant, and the
identification of errors in grammar. The written expression cluster measures the creation of
increasing difficult sentences in context and the amount of time it takes the examinee to produce
simple sentences (Woodcock McGrew, 2001). Purpose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Miller Vs. Johnson Case
Miller v. Johnson 1995 was a United States Supreme Court Case that decided whether racial
gerrymandering was unconstitutional or not. This issue was very controversial, but before
being able to understand how the case affected the use of racial gerrymandering, one has to
understand what gerrymandering is. Every state is made up of different districts, and each
district is entitled to their own votes when it comes to elections. Gerrymandering is the
manipulation of district boundaries in a way that creates a political advantage in elections by
putting a large group of people who are likely to vote for a certain party in one district. In the
case of Miller v. Johnson 1995, only one congressional district in Georgia was primarily African
American between 1980 and 1990. However, in 1990, Georgia s black population was at 27%,
and many African Americans felt that they were being underrepresented. Georgia s General
Assembly was prompted to re draw district boundaries in such a way that the black population
would be more represented in terms of electoral votes. Two drafts of boundaries were created that
were subsequently denied by the Justice Department. Finally, a draft was approved and an
additional black majority district was created. However, the new plan was considered an
abomination due to the way that it was geographically positioned. The third district alone split eight
counties and five municipalities and covered a territory of approximately 6,784 square miles. It

The Roaring Twenties
The dawning of the 1920 s in America left a need in the citizens hearts to return to a state of
normalcy after the devastating effects of the Great War. However, the new era of isolationism
spawned a cultural revolution that can only be described as anything but normal . Heavy losses
over seas left Americans turned off to problems occurring outside of United States borders. As the
citizens averted their eyes from the problems of the world, they were left to focus their attention of
forming the spectacular sense of moral freedom of the decade. The economy flourished as well.Wall
Street became an enormous success as the introduction of credit dazzled the American people. The
colossal factories which had supplied weapons and war machinery now churned out the
automobiles, radios, and abundant excitement which would go on to define the era. The isolationist
attitude also led away from the idea of the whole and people found themselves focusing on their
own needs and wants, which emphasized the adolescent nature of the United States. The post war,
isolationist minds of Americans in the roaring twentiesfocused on the dream of total freedom as
they strove towards liberation in their daily lives, and were represented by the authors of the
modernist fiction era.
Throughout the 1920 s decade, Americans were a part of the fevered frenzy that accompanied the
dream of total freedom; a dream that encompassed the ideas of rebellion and equality. Lucy Moore,

Why Viruses Are Not Living Organisms
In general, viruses are a distinct group comparing to others. Viruses have similar characteristic as
a living organism, but it also lack some of the element that a living organism have. Viruses are a
hereditary material that may be single strand genome, or other may contain a double strand
genome which is ribonucleic acid or deoxyribonucleic acid. Viruses are very small species, when a
virusis not in contact with a cell, it is just a proteinthat contains a genome. In the other hand, when
it is in contact with a cell, it will requires help from the cells that have been inserted into to
duplicates itself. I agree that viruses are considered not living organisms because they can not do
many functions by themselves without entering a cell.
Cell theory define Cells as the basis of life in the universe, all living organisms are made of cell,
and all cells created by other old cells. There are many types of cells that can be categorize.

viruses are nonliving because they are dependent on the living cell and can not do much without

Communal Forgetfulness: How Memories Crowd Themselves Out of the Public Sphere
Introduction Human history is full of major events. Great tragedies, heroic victories, and unlikely
achievements all remain long after they have occurred, alive in the memory of the public and
immortalized in histories and songs. Over time, though, the importance of different memories
changes, and some memories are effectively crowded out of the public sphere of remembrance. In
particular, tragic events that were perpetrated by a culture tend to fade out of that culture s
consciousness to make way for more recent events. These events are not forgotten, but they are
viewed through the lens of more recent events. The memories of different events build on each
other when they share common themes, even when the events themselves are very different,
which leads to a collective memory that is based on shared national or international history. Public
Memory People tend to think of memories as a set of individual recollections of specific,
chronological events. In reality, though, human memory is much more nuanced and complex than
just the storage of data like might be stored on a computer hard drive. Memory is far more colored
and far less accurate than simple data storage. One individual s memory of an event may be entirely
different than another individual s memory of that same event because of differences

The Political, Feminist, and Religious view of Frances E.W. Harper, Phllis Wheatley, and Alice
Dunbar Nelson
Phillis Wheatley, Alice Dunbar Nelson, and Francis E. W. Harper were all groundbreaking and
poignant authors whose works have remained influential throughout time. Feminism, politics, and
religion are three aspects evident in their personal lives an d literature.
Wheatley was considered a feminist icon because she was the first published African American
female poet. However, her writing did not deal with feminist issues, rather, they focussed on
religious and political themes. Unlike Wheatley, Harpers femi nist views are incorporated into her
work. She uses religion as a method to express her political and social views. ... Show more content

live with and demanded the manuscripts for the second volume of works. Unfortunately these
manuscripts disappeared with Peters never to be recover ed.
CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Phillis Wheatley s political poems have been largely ignored even though she lived in Boston
and was a witness to many events that led to the revolution. Poems such as To Samuel Quincy,
Esq; a Panegyric, To the King s Most Excellent Majesty, To t he Right Honorable William, Earl of
Dartmouth, To His Excellency General Washington, and Liberty and Peace all describe political
events and figures. Each poem dramatizes a decisive moment in America s struggle for
independence. Wheatley writes a l ot of political praise poems, which means this, was probably a
very important subject to her. Since Wheatley was a domestic female slave she was very bold to
compose such commentaries which suggests that maybe an African tradition taught her that politic
al praise was the most important to all poets (Robinson, 93).
Phillis Wheatley was a minority because of her race and her sex. In the eighteenth century woman
writers were the visible minority and black female writers were non existent. Male critics felt that
there were to many female writers and that they wer e a threat to

Business and Management in Context
INTRODUCTION
A number of different major schools of management thoughts have been emerged since 100 years
ago. Various views of management have been arisen and affected the managerial skills both in the
past and the present.
The whole world had been changed dramatically during the last 100 years. As Clarke and Clegg
point out that the increasing rate of change and increasing complexity in the business world is
making it harder and harder for managers to find simple statements of management truth. This
assignment is going to discuss the changes in the last 50 years which have been affected the three
basic skills, Technical skill, Human skill and Conceptual skill, cited by Robert L. Katz in 1950s.
And try to compare Katz s work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technical skill is still one of the important elements for effective management.
Katz considered that human skill was significant for effective management. Managers should have
ability to work with, understand and motivate people as individuals or groups. Workers are critical
success factor to the implementation of management thoughts in achieving company s goal.
Respectively, managers have to show their support to their workers and provide them incentive to
work hard for the organisation.
Human relation approach would enhance the workers efficiency: the Hawthorne experiments have
pointed out the relationship between the human factors and productivity, such as by giving workers
a break and hot snack could increase the productivity. Furthermore, some new management ideas
were generated in this experiment, such as, leadership, communications, output restrictions,
motivation and job design (Morden, 1996). These skills are adopted by vast majority of modern
management.
Conceptual skill was also recommended by Katz. Managers are required to have mental ability to
coordinate and integrate all things related to organisation and to perceive things broadly.
Specialization is good enough to classify tasks into specific area; however, different management
functions shall not be put together. Therefore, manager should integrate all the elements of the
organisation s situation in order to maximize the productivity and profitability. This skill is very
similar

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Globalization In Business
Globalization is the process whereby which there is integration and interaction amongst people,

that the local competition there would be quite intense and severe. Countries like US has signed a

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Research Paper
WASHINGTON, D.C. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall has often been called a healing
wall, and for some, it helped them find some closure an their time fighting in an unpopular war.
A group of 24 veterans from three years, 13 of them from the Vietnam War, traveled from Shreve
to Washington, D.C., as part of an Honor Bus Trip to see the military memorials on a three day
trip, returning Sunday night. For Roger Pennell, an Air Force veteran and commander of the
American Legion Post in Shreve, it was his first chance to see the wall. The visit for him was
impactful. Over the years, he has tried to forget what happened in the war and put everything out of
his mind. What happened during the war is what motivates him today to do as much as he can for

The Atheist Argument From Evil Essay
Have you ever encountered something and said to yourself Why me? Or have you wondered
Why do so many people lose their lives to murders or accidents? There is so much suffering in
this world that we hear about, including rapes, war, genocide, or natural disasters. Every person
has different disasters and oftentimes we cannot come up with a possible reason these happen to
us. This thought has led some philosophers, such as William Rowe, to believe that Goddoes not
exist. Although there are some logical possible reasons God permits evil, it seem unlikely that there
are logical reasons for the huge amount of suffering the world experiences. The large amount of
suffering seems to suggest that there is no God rather than an inactive one. The atheist argument
from evil goes as follows:
There exist horrendous evils that an all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would have no
justifying reason to permit.
An all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would not permit an evil unless he had a
justifying reason to permit it.
Therefore, God does not exist.
According to William Rowe, some evils may serve a greater good, such as free will. However,
there are other evils that seem to serve no greater good, such as natural evils that include cancer
or tornadoes that kill millions of people and other creatures every year. One example that Rowe
provides is the following: A fawn is horribly burned in a forest fire caused by lightning. It lies on
the forest floor

The Mythology Of The Ancient Greeks
In the Ancient Greeks, religion was based on the image of remarkable and memorable god and
goddess which were powerful, wise, immortal and controlled different part of the universe. For
many years humans had the opportunity to study these significant figures by reading their myths,
stories where our minds are transported to the early time of civilization in which the god and
goddess lived and became the important figures that we know nowadays. One of the god that make
himself stand out using his wisdom and his abilities was Hermes. He is the god of trade, travelers,
thieves, athletes, border crossing, guide to the Underworld and often known as the messenger of
the gods. While many gods are incredible gifted with strength and power, Hermes represents
cleverness, determination and a powerful musician.
The birth of Hermes, son of Zeus and Maia, represents his abilities as a powerful musician by his
creation of a lyre within seconds after he was born. His mother, Maia gave birth to him in a cave
on the Mount Cyllene in Arcadia and he was nursed by the nymph Cyllene. The precious baby,
became very loved and respected by all the gods in the Mount Olympus. Like Heracles, Hermes
showed his abilities as a god really fast, when he escaped from the cave he was born and invented
the lyre. He develop a plan as soon as he saw a turtle when he was wandering from the cave. His
imagination got expanded when he saw the turtle and with his genuinely laugh said: Here s a bit of

Abolishing The Penny Essay
The penny, also known simply as the one cent coin, was first made about 230 years ago in 1787.
The first penny ever made was 100% copper and it was heavier and larger than the usual penny
today. The design itself was suggested by the famous Benjamin Franklin ( A Brief History of the
U.S. Cent ). Lately, people have talked about the idea of abolishing the penny, but others disagree.
The penny should not be abolished. Granted, pennies waste time. MoneyCrasher.com had this to
say: Often, when we pay with cash at a store, the total amount doesn t end in a multiple of $0.05...

To begin, nickels cost more than pennies. An article on The Spruce says this: [The] Mint can
make 5 pennies and still lose less money than making 1 nickel (Headley). This quoted information
is basically saying that it would cost less for five pennies to be made compared to just one nickel.
The cost difference is actually about 1.4 cents, which doesn t seem like much, but it may become a
larger problem when the money amount adds up in the end. Furthermore, if the penny were
abolished and the nation would be stuck using nickels, then the Mint would lose even more money.
A popular argument for the abolishment of the penny is that it wastes the money for the Mint. This
is partly true, but if the pennies were entirely eliminated, more nickels would be in demand, which
would cost the Mint more. Twenty nickels, which equals a dollar, costsabout $1.54 to make,
compared to a dollar amount of pennies, which costs $1.26 to make. With all the pennies abolished,
the number of nickels made would have to double, which would subtract more money from the
Mint, leaving them with even money savings less than before

Essay on The Harry Potter Controversy
The Harry Potter Controversy
The wildly popular Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling has caused controversy for many
families over the past five years. These novels according to some critics are harmless, adventurous,
children s tales. Others choose to portray them as stories that inspire children to become involved in
the occult and serious witchcraft. The Harry Potter novels chronicle the life of a young wizard
whose wizard parents were killed by the evil Lord Voldermort. On his eleventh birthday he receives
invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Each of the five books

how the books have positively affected the reading as his school. He said that he would not suggest
Harry Potter is single handedly solving our reading problems but he did note that once students
become successful at reading that encourages them to read more (Kennedy Ross). Potter novels
draw in children and adults with interesting and humorous story lines.
Even children that are too young to read can benefit from having Harry Potter stories read to
them. Reading aloud humorous and exciting stories like Harry Potter allows for a myriad of
shared emotions (Giorgis 82). Interesting books read aloud leave kids wanting to hear another.
Janet Seden, professor of the School of Health and Social Welfare at Open University concluded
that enjoyable fictional experiences as a child create empathy in the reader and enable us to
confront the need for imagination as parents and practitioners (Seden 296). Some parents are
pleased by the way that Harry Potter has interested their children in reading, but others find the
novels to promote good morals.

The Effects Of Workplace Safety On Organizations And Society
Understanding the importance of workplace safety prevention is critical in the study of
occupational health and safety. Workplace violence is a term used to describe a situation in which
an individual experiences verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, harassment, or physical assault in
their place of employment or business related functions or events (OSH Answers Fact Sheet). This
is a common occurrence in many workplaces and has a significant impact on the employees mental
state, interfering with their ability to work successfully (Barling). Through research on the OHSA,
the Occupational Safety and HealthAct and historical data, we are able to explore the implications
of workplace safety on organizations and society. CCOHS, the... Show more content on

A survey conducted in 2004 demonstrated that 17% of reported incidents, or approximately
356,000 incidents occurred in the workplace. It is also estimated that only one in five victims
reported workplace violence (Violence in the Workplace). It is clear that workplace violence is an
ongoing issue that should be an immense part of occupational health and safety. The reason that
workplace violence is a significant topic of discussion is because it causes severe consequences to
not only the victim, but to other employees and the organization as a whole. Research shows that
when primary victims experience violence in the workplace, there is an increased risk of
developing PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder (Barling). For example, a study of 30 Irish victims
of workplace bullying reported feelings of anxiety, irritability, depression and paranoia (Matthiesen).
A few more symptoms of PTSD may include avoiding situations, activities, or people that remind
them of the traumatic events and difficulty concentrating or remembering information, which are
factors that hinder an employee s productivity in the workplace (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder,
2015). Workplace violence does not only affect the primary victim. Secondary victims are known as
the individuals that experience the same anxiety and discomfort as primary victims, even

made the decision to leave their jobs and homes to immigrate to the United States. They fled rising

one of the greater countries for economic opportunity, many sought freedom from religious and
political persecution. Around twelve million immigrants arrived in the United States between 1870

large numbers of immigrants helped keep labor cost down for Big Business and different groups
were often put against each other in competition for the cheapest workers. Politically, different
immigrant groups became active members of various labor organizations and unions, pushing to
change pro business laws and establish regulations governing working conditions and wages. And
socially, American culture as it is known now was formed by this influx of immigrants. People
from all over the planet brought with them not only their labor but also their cultures, helping to
contribute to the mosaic that is the American way of life. These immigrants, as shown by the
prejudice and discrimination directed towards them, were not always welcome. In economic hard
times, immigrants were blamed for job shortages and family hardships, used as scapegoats for
larger problems. Nativist movements were directed against the Chinese, Japanese, Italians, and
others, especially during the 1880s and 90s. As evidenced by the Chinese Exclusion Act and later
legislation that limited immigration from Japan and other regions, this anti immigrant sentiment
went as high up as the nation s capital. This history was simply a repeat of the nativism and hatred
directed against the Irish and Germans of the 1840s and 1850s and is similar to that experienced in
America today by immigrants from Mexico and Latin America. In the area of immigration, history

Criticism In Dorian Shelley s The Player And Dorian Gray
Monika and Lord Henry are the opposite of The Player and Dorian Gray, driving the plot to fit their
intention of changing the protagonist to fit some ideology. Their archetype is the Puppet Master,
exerting control by manipulating others. Without Monika s epiphany (Team Salvato) in realizing
that she is just a side character, but wanting more, or Lord Henry fascination of Dorian Gray s
aura of innocence, the plot of the stories would be quite dull and would not have been notable
pieces of rhetoric. When sharing poems in the day part of Doki Doki Literature Club, Monika
states that her writing has changed, telling The Player You can say I kind of had a sort of
epiphany lately. She later adds a file into the game files that say I did not do anything
dangerous... All I did was untie the knot (Team Salvato). Monika has a mentality that the other
character s actions are their own, and that she is not at fault for the events resulting of her
influence. This mentality directly correlates with Lord Henry s idea of Dorian s change in
expression after he shared his intense views of vanity and life. Lord Henry observes He [Lord
Henry] was amazed at the sudden impression that his words had produced... He had merely shot
an arrow into the air. Had it hit the mark? How fascinating the lad was! (Wilde, 22). Though Oscar
Wildequickly hints that there is something deeper to his novel by writing the reader as omnipotent,
Team Salvato preferred to make the reader a character. The team subtlety hints that there is
something strange occurring in the game, saving their big reveal that Monika is the Puppet Master
until the Good Ending. This difference shows another aspect of how archetypes have withstood
time, the ability to adapt to what the author needs out of the archetype. Oscar Wilde wanted his
audience to know who was the Puppet Master from the start of the novel to set his novel apart from
other Victorian era novels; on the other hand, Team Salvato used the Puppet Master archetype to
first seem like a standard dating simulator until the ending, shocking The Player more than if they
revealed Monika s intentions in the beginning of the game. The archetype stays true to role they

Poem Analysis Of To His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell
To his Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, he revealed the endeavors of a man towards demanding
his sweetheart s warmth and declines of the unknown mistress to lay down with the honorable
man being referred to, and the refined man s reaction is to disclose to her that, if had he enough
time, he could spend whole hundreds of years respecting her excellence and her beauty; be that
as it may, human life is short and tomorrow is not guarantee he doesn t have this time, thus they
ought to appreciate each other now while regardless they can, as nobody in death can grasp or
feel delight. In his tones of adoration and slavishness reflect how the suiter guarantees that if the
time stopped he would passionately worship each component of his coy mistress, however since
time wait for no man he utilizes this guarantees to lure in his fancy woman to make love with
him. The poem is written in the form of a love poem using the traditional love elegy format also
known as carpe diem and is divided into three stanzas or poetic paragraphs. It s spoken by a
nameless man, who doesn t reveal any physical or biographical details about himself, to a
nameless woman, who is also anonymous. The beauty of the language and the overwhelming
focus on the woman s beauty, the respect shown therein, makes the poem quite progressive and
intriguing. The man aims not only to smooth talk but also to impress her. To confront the concept
of time, he uses biblical references to mark the permanent nature of reality. By using a story out
of the Old Testament the image of the great flood that purged the earth as a start point and then
used the image that Armageddon will ultimately occur at the conversion of the Jews as an end
point, the man tries to show the vastness of predicted human existence. At the same time however
he subtly hints toward the second more nihilistic section of the poem. This imagery it is
interesting in two respects; first it suggests that physical human life has been ended by God and
will be ended by him again. Thus, providing a backdrop for the speaker s argument that in reality
life is temperamental and therefore procreation should not be delayed at the expense of morality.
The image is interesting in a second way as it may be

Analysis Of Stairway To Heaven
No matter how many times somebody is asked to give an explanation to what the song Stairway
to Heaven really perseveres, different answers will be given every time. The song Stairway to
Heaven was written by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Throughout all these years, still everybody has their
own interpretation to the song, and they will respond differently based upon what the true meaning
of the song really is. The reason being is, the song represents many different values throughout it,
and it is the others choice to determine the outlook on it.
In 1980, Led Zeppelin could have had the biggest tour in the history of rock and roll. Although,
this never happened because one of the members, Rob Plant, refused to be a part of it. He rejected
to reunite with the rest of the group because he believed that no amount of money is worth having
to sing Stairway to Heaven. To begin with, when asked about Rob Plant s interpretation of the
song, he responded with I still interpret the song a different way and I wrote the lyrics. In addition,
he believed that the lyrics took some rough shots. In the beginning of it, he claims that it is meant
towards a woman who strives for money, only to find out the unpleasant way that is going to be
keeping her from reaching her stairway to heaven. Rob Plant had no other reason for stating what
his meaning was towards writing the song, but he did note that he saw it as a woman getting
everything she wanted without giving anything back. According to an

Different Methods And Methods Of The Carbon Hydrogen...
Both of these techniques provide peaks that relate to the specific Carbon locations within a tested
structure. The placement of Carbons by certain elements or bonding environments provide
distinct peaks on an one dimensional C13 NMR spectrum. Our 60 MHz NMR, does produce
spectra, but these spectra have issues when it comes to smaller peaks. In order to determine as
much Carbon information as possible from our Ibuprofen solution, we also used the two

Both DEPT 45 and C13 NMR spectra, were combined, and we determined seven Carbon peaks that
are associated with Ibuprofen, but there are some Carbon peaks that are not present on the spectra.
These include the remaining two Carbons on the benzene ring and the Carbon that is in the
carboxylic acid functional group. The theoretical peak locations for these Carbons would be 145
135 ppm for the aromatic Carbons and 200 180 ppm for the carbonyl Carbon. Our 60 MHz is not
precise enough to separate these small peaks from the noise generated by the machine. Now with
the specific number of Carbon Hydrogen environments, we shall construct Ibuprofen s structure via
proton NMR techniques.
H1 NMR / COSY NMR:
COSY NMR is a two dimensional proton NMR analysis technique that shows, which H1 NMR
peaks are coupled with each other. If H1 NMR peaks are coupled together, then those Hydrogen
environments are located within three bonds of each other. The determination of H H couplings
is done via drawing lines from each H1 split peak on the sides of the COSY spectrum to the
opposite side of the spectrum. Then each H1 peak is traced down the line in order to find any
peaks created from different Hydrogen peaks. From our spectrum, there were three couplings that
occurred. On our spectrum we have these peaks labeled as H, G, F, C, and B. The exact couplings
are (H,G), (H,F), and (C,B). The coupling locations match the peak locations on the H1 NMR.

for the legalization of the drug. Iowa is taking a cautious approach to medical marijuana. Medical

  • 2. Example Of Alcoholics Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous The name of the meeting was Grove City Wave Three Group, and it was located at the United Methodist Church on 2710 Columbus Street in Grove City. The meeting took place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held almost every Sunday. The reason I had choose this location for the meeting was because it was near my home. When I first entered the room I was expecting the stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a circle of chairs in a room with no tables. But once I entered the room, there were plenty of seats and it did not appear to be dark and gloomy. The room was located in the basement of the church, and had the seats set were the participants are able to see one another. I was anxious of how other members would react to my presence, considering I was in a church. I was greeted when I entered the room. My anxiety slowly went away, when I realized that these are people really dealing with a difficult issue in their lives. It reminded me of how vulnerable it can be to be around others and admit to a weakness within you, to get better. It takes a lot of courage to go to a meeting, and want to change. The members of the meeting varied in all ages and ethnicities. There were young people as well as older people. When I was in the meeting I was asked to introduce myself. I explained that I was a student and was interested in learning. The participants were very understanding and did not mind at all. But it felt very awkward for me, because I did not want to impose. One participant explained to me that there have been other students that have attended meetings in the past. There was also another new member that came to the meeting as well. He introduced himself, and explained his reason for coming. The others members commended him for coming and congratulated him for attending and trying. The meeting was not anonymous because the members had identified their first names. The meeting did not have any one leader, but everyone in the meeting participated. There were a few participants that had roles such as secretary, and other positions. The meeting began with an introduction, reading pledges. His hatred seems to be a symbol of people who are not content in their wonderful situation. The husband says that the wife s face would be flawless and beautiful if it were without the crimson birthmark. He loathes this birthmark so much that he says it reminds him of sin and earthliness, opposed to perfection and heavenliness. I find interest in the husbands character because of his hate towards a little thing that can be covered with two fingers. This obsession makes me think that the husband character is a representation of people who complain about a small imperfection, inconvenience, or issue in their life. Kelloggs Case Study g sName: University: Course: Tutor: Date: Kellogg s Case Study Question One: There are three key sectors of the supply chain, namely; primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. The former encompasses all processes and activities geared towards transforming natural resources into primary products which are then to be used in manufacturing finished products (Choi, 2011). For instance, the forestry industry falls under the primary sector bearing in mind the fact that it focuses on transforming a natural resource, i.e. trees, into a primary product (timber). On the other hand, the secondary sector is concerned with transforming the primary products generated from the primary sector into finished products. For instance, Kellogg s is a ... This gives a candid explanation as to why Kellogg s entered into an agreement with Tesco meant to allow its products to continue being displayed in the latter s stores. Kellogg s collaboration with tertiary sector entities can also be attributed to its allure in ensuring it continues to purport successful business activities. For instance, maintaining good relationships with banks makes it possible for the entity to acquire additional funds to finance its operations or investment activities (Leeman, 2010). Question Four: The major benefit that can be realized from the decision of large manufactures like Kellogg s to outsource some its activities to specialist companies like TDG is that of making the former s supply chain and distribution channels to become more efficient. The achievement of this objective is usually facilitated through the emphasis of these specialist entities to employ computerized systems while purporting stock handling and logistic functions for their clients, with this enhancing the timely and cost efficient delivery of stock in the larger manufacturers retail stores (Choi, 2011). Moreover, these specialists assist larger firms such as Kellogg s to minimize the wastages which normally occur within their supply chains, more so through streamlining their transportation, distribution and storage systems (Leeman, ... Abstract This research paper will try to highlight the loopholes in the legislative provisions for women in the Indian constitution. Legislations for women have been there since the British rule. Independent India is not an exception. But some Indian customs and traditions set restrictions towards women ignoring them to be an individual. Social construct is such that women do not come out to speak about their plight in the public. Since independence, Indian women has got the right to vote and many rights enshrined in the constitution, but the violence against women in the private domain remained unseen in the legal provisions of the country. Many movements took place to make the violence against women in the private domain to get legal sanction. Anyways, women get much legislation under the Indian constitution for their protection yet none of these legislations have clearly considered domestic violence as a crime till 2005. The failure of the existing provisions to address the domestic violence as a crime has led to the implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act in 2005. This study is an attempt to analyse the awareness level about the act. This study will deal extensively with the legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Example Of Greedy Algorithm 3 Greedy Algorithm Greedy technique is an algorithm design policy, built on configurations such as different choices, values to find objective .Greedy algorithms produce good solutions on mathematical problems. The main aim is to find some configurations that are either maximized or minimized. Greedy Algorithms provide a solution for optimization problems that has certain sequence of steps, with a set of choices for each step. Another solution for Greedy algorithm is dynamic programming . It is also used to determine the best choices. But greedy algorithm always makes the choice that is best at the moment to provide the optimal solution for the problem. A greedy algorithm for an optimization always provides the current sub solution. Basically greedy algorithm always gives an optimal solution to the MST (Minimum Spanning tree)problem. Some Examples that are solved by greedy algorithm are Dijkstra s shortest path algorithm and Prim/Kruskal s algorithms. • 8. Brexit Disadvantages UK farmers have resented several articles of 1107/2009, desiring a more risk based approach that is science led, similar to the one carried out by the US Environmental Protection Agency, where more actives and products would be available through a faster and more pragmatic process. Nick von Westernholz, CEO of the Crop Protection Association (CPA), believes that Brexit is the golden opportunity to enforce pesticides regulations that support UK farmers and allow them to trade on a global scale. Furthermore, Dr. Colin Ruscoe, President of the British Crop Protection Council (BCPC) expresses his faith in Brexit as being the UK s time to take back control (Loughlin, 2016). Farmers and the pesticideindustry believe that the current hazard based approach is too stringent, placing the EU in a position of being economically unattractive in respect of the development of new active substances and new plant protection products (Chapman, 2014). As a result, safer alternatives are emerging while many active substances are being revoked with the ban on neonicotinoids being the most significant. This represents a severe obstacle to European farmers and will endanger their ability to produce the variety of plant produce to which consumers have become adapted (Chapman, 2014). Simultaneously, the reduction in plant production products generates a major risk to UK trade and competitiveness, with the NFU manifesting its concerns over UK crop production flatlining (House of Commons Library, 2016) and to food security. On the other hand, it could also be contended that a closer affiliation to US legislation could suspend UK trade with the EU as they would no longer conform to their strict regulations (Baker and Knight, 2017). Thus, abolishing would offend NGOs or international trading partners within the EU as the EU represents 60% of UK agri food exports (Pesticide Action Network UK, 2017). Modify The UK has, at no time, implemented a policy intended to reduce the utilization of pesticides in the agricultural sector. Instead, under 1107/2009, the principles of acceptable risk have been ratified, focusing on mitigating the potential destruction of pesticides by setting restrictions on the methods of application (PAN UK, ... Eleven illustrations make up the work. Aside from a few words hidden in the imagery s background, the only formal text is in the last panel, referring to Michelle Wright who died in 2001, just shy of her 31st birthday. I spent time searching online obituaries trying to discover more about this young woman, but was not able to find any information about her. She must have had some connection to Szewczyk and/or Schill. This is a sad, forlorn piece that required looking carefully at each image for clues. In the first panel, she is blind, making her way down the street with a cane. Behind her is a crumbled wall with graffiti on it saying, The war is over . To me, this represents the loss of a struggle, a foretelling of Michelle s demise. Perhaps going blind was the final stage of her illness. The remaining images are Michelle s memories as a child, as a dancer, and her lifelong struggle with self image. In one panel, she s watching her mother use makeup, in another, her mother is angry seeing Michelle play with makeup. One panel shows an anorexic teenager, hidden in the background are the words Perfection and So thin I c[ould] disappear . Next to this image sits a bald, depressed figure, no doubt a result of the cancer/chemotherapy drugs shown in the foreground. These are all clues, leading up to the final image in the mortuary where Michelle appears with beautiful flowing hair and a serene expression. I m not sure what the story s overarching message is. It might be that in the end, she achieved the beauty she always sought, or perhaps the story speaks to the broader issue of the sexualization of women. Studies on oil prices have identified two main categories: those on developed oil importing countries, which comprise most of the literature, and developing oil exporting countries, which are scarce due to a lack of data in these countries. More specifically, I have categorized the literature into three categories: First, I analyse studies on developed countries, which are oil importers. Second, I explore the research on developing countries, which are oil exporters. In oil exporting countries, oil revenue is the key funding source of government expenditures, and therefore fiscal and monetary policies depend on oil prices (Rosser Sheehan, 1995). And third, I analyse the research on Iranas one of the largest oil exporting countries and also one of the biggest oil reserve holders. Oil revenue plays an important role in Iran s economy. Iran is one of the largest oil producers and the Iranian economy is largely based on oil revenue. Sanctions have targeted the oil sector and oil exports to the global market. • 12. Miller Vs. Johnson Case Miller v. Johnson 1995 was a United States Supreme Court Case that decided whether racial gerrymandering was unconstitutional or not. This issue was very controversial, but before being able to understand how the case affected the use of racial gerrymandering, one has to understand what gerrymandering is. Every state is made up of different districts, and each district is entitled to their own votes when it comes to elections. Gerrymandering is the manipulation of district boundaries in a way that creates a political advantage in elections by putting a large group of people who are likely to vote for a certain party in one district. In the case of Miller v. Johnson 1995, only one congressional district in Georgia was primarily African American between 1980 and 1990. However, in 1990, Georgia s black population was at 27%, and many African Americans felt that they were being underrepresented. Georgia s General Assembly was prompted to re draw district boundaries in such a way that the black population would be more represented in terms of electoral votes. Two drafts of boundaries were created that were subsequently denied by the Justice Department. Finally, a draft was approved and an additional black majority district was created. However, the new plan was considered an abomination due to the way that it was geographically positioned. The third district alone split eight counties and five municipalities and covered a territory of approximately 6,784 square miles. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Viruses have similar characteristic as a living organism, but it also lack some of the element that a living organism have. Viruses are a hereditary material that may be single strand genome, or other may contain a double strand genome which is ribonucleic acid or deoxyribonucleic acid. Viruses are very small species, when a virusis not in contact with a cell, it is just a proteinthat contains a genome. In the other hand, when it is in contact with a cell, it will requires help from the cells that have been inserted into to duplicates itself. I agree that viruses are considered not living organisms because they can not do many functions by themselves without entering a cell. Yujia Jiang May 1, 2016 GSAH220 Global Interactions and Identities Safoi Babana Hampton Communal Forgetfulness: How Memories Crowd Themselves Out of the Public Sphere Introduction Human history is full of major events. Great tragedies, heroic victories, and unlikely achievements all remain long after they have occurred, alive in the memory of the public and immortalized in histories and songs. Over time, though, the importance of different memories changes, and some memories are effectively crowded out of the public sphere of remembrance. In particular, tragic events that were perpetrated by a culture tend to fade out of that culture s consciousness to make way for more recent events. These events are not forgotten, but they are viewed through the lens of more recent events. The memories of different events build on each other when they share common themes, even when the events themselves are very different, which leads to a collective memory that is based on shared national or international history. Public Memory People tend to think of memories as a set of individual recollections of specific, chronological events. In reality, though, human memory is much more nuanced and complex than just the storage of data like might be stored on a computer hard drive. Memory is far more colored and far less accurate than simple data storage. CRITICAL ANALYSIS Phillis Wheatley s political poems have been largely ignored even though she lived in Boston and was a witness to many events that led to the revolution. Poems such as To Samuel Quincy, Esq; a Panegyric, To the King s Most Excellent Majesty, To t he Right Honorable William, Earl of Dartmouth, To His Excellency General Washington, and Liberty and Peace all describe political events and figures. Each poem dramatizes a decisive moment in America s struggle for independence. Wheatley writes a l ot of political praise poems, which means this, was probably a very important subject to her. Since Wheatley was a domestic female slave she was very bold to compose such commentaries which suggests that maybe an African tradition taught her that politic al praise was the most important to all poets (Robinson, 93). Katz considered that human skill was significant for effective management. Managers should have ability to work with, understand and motivate people as individuals or groups. Workers are critical success factor to the implementation of management thoughts in achieving company s goal. Respectively, managers have to show their support to their workers and provide them incentive to work hard for the organisation. Human relation approach would enhance the workers efficiency: the Hawthorne experiments have pointed out the relationship between the human factors and productivity, such as by giving workers a break and hot snack could increase the productivity. Furthermore, some new management ideas were generated in this experiment, such as, leadership, communications, output restrictions, motivation and job design (Morden, 1996). These skills are adopted by vast majority of modern management. Conceptual skill was also recommended by Katz. Managers are required to have mental ability to coordinate and integrate all things related to organisation and to perceive things broadly. Specialization is good enough to classify tasks into specific area; however, different management functions shall not be put together. • 23. The Atheist Argument From Evil Essay Have you ever encountered something and said to yourself Why me? Or have you wondered Why do so many people lose their lives to murders or accidents? There is so much suffering in this world that we hear about, including rapes, war, genocide, or natural disasters. Every person has different disasters and oftentimes we cannot come up with a possible reason these happen to us. This thought has led some philosophers, such as William Rowe, to believe that Goddoes not exist. Although there are some logical possible reasons God permits evil, it seem unlikely that there are logical reasons for the huge amount of suffering the world experiences. The large amount of suffering seems to suggest that there is no God rather than an inactive one. The atheist argument from evil goes as follows: There exist horrendous evils that an all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would have no justifying reason to permit. An all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would not permit an evil unless he had a justifying reason to permit it. Therefore, God does not exist. According to William Rowe, some evils may serve a greater good, such as free will. However, there are other evils that seem to serve no greater good, such as natural evils that include cancer or tornadoes that kill millions of people and other creatures every year. One example that Rowe provides is the following: A fawn is horribly burned in a forest fire caused by lightning. It lies on the forest floor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first penny ever made was 100% copper and it was heavier and larger than the usual penny today. The design itself was suggested by the famous Benjamin Franklin ( A Brief History of the U.S. Cent ). Lately, people have talked about the idea of abolishing the penny, but others disagree. The penny should not be abolished. Granted, pennies waste time. MoneyCrasher.com had this to say: Often, when we pay with cash at a store, the total amount doesn t end in a multiple of $0.05... An article on The Spruce says this: [The] Mint can make 5 pennies and still lose less money than making 1 nickel (Headley). This quoted information is basically saying that it would cost less for five pennies to be made compared to just one nickel. The cost difference is actually about 1.4 cents, which doesn t seem like much, but it may become a larger problem when the money amount adds up in the end. Furthermore, if the penny were abolished and the nation would be stuck using nickels, then the Mint would lose even more money. A popular argument for the abolishment of the penny is that it wastes the money for the Mint. This is partly true, but if the pennies were entirely eliminated, more nickels would be in demand, which would cost the Mint more. Twenty nickels, which equals a dollar, costsabout $1.54 to make, compared to a dollar amount of pennies, which costs $1.26 to make. With all the pennies abolished, the number of nickels made would have to double, which would subtract more money from the Mint, leaving them with even money savings less than before ... Workplace violence is a term used to describe a situation in which an individual experiences verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, harassment, or physical assault in their place of employment or business related functions or events (OSH Answers Fact Sheet). This is a common occurrence in many workplaces and has a significant impact on the employees mental state, interfering with their ability to work successfully (Barling). It is also estimated that only one in five victims reported workplace violence (Violence in the Workplace). It is clear that workplace violence is an ongoing issue that should be an immense part of occupational health and safety. The reason that workplace violence is a significant topic of discussion is because it causes severe consequences to not only the victim, but to other employees and the organization as a whole. Research shows that when primary victims experience violence in the workplace, there is an increased risk of developing PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder (Barling). For example, a study of 30 Irish victims of workplace bullying reported feelings of anxiety, irritability, depression and paranoia (Matthiesen). A few more symptoms of PTSD may include avoiding situations, activities, or people that remind them of the traumatic events and difficulty concentrating or remembering information, which are factors that hinder an employee s productivity in the workplace (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, 2015). And socially, American culture as it is known now was formed by this influx of immigrants. These immigrants, as shown by the prejudice and discrimination directed towards them, were not always welcome. In economic hard times, immigrants were blamed for job shortages and family hardships, used as scapegoats for larger problems. Nativist movements were directed against the Chinese, Japanese, Italians, and others, especially during the 1880s and 90s. • 32. Criticism In Dorian Shelley s The Player And Dorian Gray Monika and Lord Henry are the opposite of The Player and Dorian Gray, driving the plot to fit their intention of changing the protagonist to fit some ideology. Their archetype is the Puppet Master, exerting control by manipulating others. Without Monika s epiphany (Team Salvato) in realizing that she is just a side character, but wanting more, or Lord Henry fascination of Dorian Gray s aura of innocence, the plot of the stories would be quite dull and would not have been notable pieces of rhetoric. When sharing poems in the day part of Doki Doki Literature Club, Monika states that her writing has changed, telling The Player You can say I kind of had a sort of epiphany lately. She later adds a file into the game files that say I did not do anything dangerous... All I did was untie the knot (Team Salvato). Monika has a mentality that the other character s actions are their own, and that she is not at fault for the events resulting of her influence. This mentality directly correlates with Lord Henry s idea of Dorian s change in expression after he shared his intense views of vanity and life. Lord Henry observes He [Lord Henry] was amazed at the sudden impression that his words had produced... He had merely shot an arrow into the air. Had it hit the mark? How fascinating the lad was! (Wilde, 22). Though Oscar Wildequickly hints that there is something deeper to his novel by writing the reader as omnipotent, Team Salvato preferred to make the reader a character. The team subtlety hints that there is something strange occurring in the game, saving their big reveal that Monika is the Puppet Master until the Good Ending. This difference shows another aspect of how archetypes have withstood time, the ability to adapt to what the author needs out of the archetype. Oscar Wilde wanted his audience to know who was the Puppet Master from the start of the novel to set his novel apart from other Victorian era novels; on the other hand, Team Salvato used the Puppet Master archetype to first seem like a standard dating simulator until the ending, shocking The Player more than if they revealed Monika s intentions in the beginning of the game. In his tones of adoration and slavishness reflect how the suiter guarantees that if the time stopped he would passionately worship each component of his coy mistress, however since time wait for no man he utilizes this guarantees to lure in his fancy woman to make love with him. The poem is written in the form of a love poem using the traditional love elegy format also known as carpe diem and is divided into three stanzas or poetic paragraphs. It s spoken by a nameless man, who doesn t reveal any physical or biographical details about himself, to a nameless woman, who is also anonymous. The beauty of the language and the overwhelming focus on the woman s beauty, the respect shown therein, makes the poem quite progressive and intriguing. The man aims not only to smooth talk but also to impress her. To confront the concept of time, he uses biblical references to mark the permanent nature of reality. By using a story out of the Old Testament the image of the great flood that purged the earth as a start point and then used the image that Armageddon will ultimately occur at the conversion of the Jews as an end point, the man tries to show the vastness of predicted human existence. At the same time however he subtly hints toward the second more nihilistic section of the poem. This imagery it is interesting in two respects; first it suggests that physical human life has been ended by God and will be ended by him again. Thus, providing a backdrop for the speaker s argument that in reality life is temperamental and therefore procreation should not be delayed at the expense of morality. These include the remaining two Carbons on the benzene ring and the Carbon that is in the carboxylic acid functional group. The theoretical peak locations for these Carbons would be 145 135 ppm for the aromatic Carbons and 200 180 ppm for the carbonyl Carbon. Our 60 MHz is not precise enough to separate these small peaks from the noise generated by the machine. Now with the specific number of Carbon Hydrogen environments, we shall construct Ibuprofen s structure via proton NMR techniques. H1 NMR / COSY NMR: COSY NMR is a two dimensional proton NMR analysis technique that shows, which H1 NMR peaks are coupled with each other. If H1 NMR peaks are coupled together, then those Hydrogen environments are located within three bonds of each other. The determination of H H couplings is done via drawing lines from each H1 split peak on the sides of the COSY spectrum to the opposite side of the spectrum. Then each H1 peak is traced down the line in order to find any peaks created from different Hydrogen peaks. From our spectrum, there were three couplings that occurred. On our spectrum we have these peaks labeled as H, G, F, C, and B. The exact couplings are (H,G), (H,F), and (C,B). The coupling locations match the peak locations on the H1 NMR.
