Hills Like White Elephant And Story Of An Hour
Heart Trouble at the Train Station
Chaeme Vogue
Details are what the world is made of, think of the oceans, composed by tiny drops of water. Never
underestimate the power of place and image, even when limited. While both Story of an Hour by Kate
Chopin, and Hills like White Elephants , by Ernest Hemingway have different settings, both
effectively use setting to reveal character and acts as a symbol within the story. The stories are of two
females, Louis Mallard for Hour, in her two story house, spring time is here, rain is in the air, and
death hangs in the atmosphere. Jig on the other hand from Hills, is in the heat of a foreign country
called Spain at a train station with an American, having a little chat about elephants. Dig deeper ...

For Louis it is the start of spring, a new life with rain to cleanse and purify the air and patches of blue
sky, the gloomy clouds parting with the end of winter, Bentley s death. Marriage was a cloudy shadow
over her happiness but now the horizon of her life is clearing. Jig also has a cloud in her life; the
American man is casting a shadow over the field of grain, her baby. The fertile field is along the river
bank, her opportunity, and the mountains on the otherwise of that is her pregnancy. However there is
also a tree in her way that she looks through to the mountains. This tree is deep rooted misogyny.
Dictating what she does with her life. In one sense it is her won internalized misogyny that she must
be submissive and please. Here it is much simpler all she must do is step around the tree and enter the
light. In the other sense it is the man standing in her way much like with Louise and Bendy standing in

Welcome to the Future Foreign Urban Careers Convention, also known as F. F.U.C.C. or F FOOK K. I
know you are all anxious to travel to distant lands, embark upon adventures, and begin working on
your first million in your chosen career fields! STOP! Before you board that airplane, I am attempting
to SAVE YOUR LIFE at the most keep you from arrest or fines at the least, embarrassment. I have
been asked by the Chairperson of F FOOK K to speak to you today because there just may be no one
more qualified to address the topic of Foreign Faux Pas than moi . FAUX PAS is French. Spelled as if
it should be pronounced FOX PASS, but it IS NOT! The X and the S are, SILENT. And that, friends,
should be the first faux pas you step around. According to Vocabulary.com Dictionary, Faux pas
literally means false step; social blunder. Do not take a false step into a big pile of . . . embarrassing or
offensive unlawful, social crap. Why me, you ask? Unfortunately, I have seen the inside of more
foreign police stations, consulates and embassies than most heads of state; probably more than most
talking heads, radioheads, OR Deadheads, and CERTAINLY more than any heads of class. My first
faux arrest was at the tender age of 6 while my father was US Ambassador to Singapore; I simply
forgot to flush the toilet in a public restroom. Who knew?!? My parents were lucky to only pay a small
fine under the table, to get me released from mall security that time. When I

The Economic And Social Changes During The 1960s Under The...
Life in America began to undergo great economic and social changes during the 1980s under the
Reagan Administration. During this period of time, stagflation began to distress the US economy,
leaving millions of Americans to fall victim to homelessness and poverty. The unemployment rate had
reached its highest peak since the Great Depression, creating a major crisis for low income families
and other individuals concerning living conditions. The introduction of Reaganism into society
primarily focused on reducing the growth of government spending through the modulation of federal
income tax and reduction of government regulation to diminish inflation. Despite all attempts for
economic recovery, the US struggled to bounce back from the 1970s recession and in time led to the
significant rise in urban poverty. Uniquely, an American film director from the 1980s by the name of
John Carpenter produced a science fiction film, They Live, that served as a powerful and eye opening
depiction of his own personal views of Reaganism (Reaganomics). He essentially depicts our world to
be controlled by powerful elites who have created a repressive society that we are unwilling brought
to live and build in. He also clarifies how the majority of Americans during the 1980s were focused
primarily on materialism and how an individual s success was measured by the amount of money they
possessed. Carpenter s major criticisms of 1980s America included the impact of consumerism in
America as well as

Borderline Personality Disorder ( Adhd )
Introduction Borderline Personality Disorder was first listed in the DSM in 1980. It is classified as a
cluster B personality disorder. Before then it was unsure if it was a disorder on its own, if it only
coexisted with other disorders, or only mocked other disorders. Most people suffering from BPD have
problems regulating emotions and thoughts, have impulsive and reckless behavior, and have unstable
relations with others. High rates of comorbidity occur with this disorder including; depression, anxiety
disorders, substance abuse, and eating disorders. BPD affects about four percent of the community, but
can be as high as twenty percent in many clinical psychiatric populations. It can be difficult to treat
because it responds poorly to most conventional methods of treatment and because of how little we
still know about it. There have been many great discoveries about BPD in only a few decades. There
are still many questions to be answered about this disorder, but it has gone from a label attached to
those who did not quite fit into other categories to a completely separate and somewhat understood
mental illness. History First recorded accounts of symptoms associated with BPD can be found in
medical literature from almost three thousand years ago. Adolph Stern would be the first to describe
the symptoms, possible causes, and what he thought to be the best treatment. Stern referred to patients
with these symptoms as the border line group. In the 1940 s Robert Knight

Iran and Access to Nuclear Weapons
Currently, Iran does not have the capacity to launch a missile directly at the United States ( The
Iranian nuclear, 2013). This, however, may change. If the Iranians develop a nuclear weapon, they are
most likely going to develop a vehicle to deliver the warhead. This is where a direct threat to the
United States lies. Even without an ICBM, Iran can still load a nuclear device into a shipping
container, or even launch a missile off a ship from the coast. Iran would also most likely hand over
information on nuclear weapons to one of its state sponsored terrorist groups. In turn, the terrorists
would use the weapons against the U.S. and its allies all over the world. The President has stated that
America will not allow Iran to pursue a nuclear weapon, and that he is prepared to use all available
American power to prevent that from happening (Sherman, 2013). This begins with the strict
sanctions imposed on the country. Iran is currently under a lot of pressure to discontinue its uranium
enrichment. If Iran were to hand over any developed nuclear weapons information to its terrorist
groups, that would cause alarm for the entire world. Extremists with the most deadly weapon ever
could potentially destroy thousands, if not millions of innocent lives. This type of fear would give Iran
and its terrorists an edge on the world stage. The fear of launching a nuclear attack would drastically
change how the U.S. and its allies deal with Iran. To stop that, the U.S. and its allies

Congo Basin Rainforest
There are a lot of strategies that could be used to help maintain the Congo Basin rainforest. But, I
believe that, Providing education on effective farming methods and resource conservation, is needed
to conserve the resources of the rainforest. I think this because it will give the people that live in the
rainforest more trading opportunities and it will reduce how many trees are cut down because they
will not have to cut down more trees for more usable soil. Passage B says, However, every two
seconds, the equivalent of an area the size of a soccer field is destroyed to provide timber for books,
furniture, and homes. At the same time, we destroy the livelihood of the people who live there and the
homes of the wildlife. And Passage

How Did Antoine Lavoisier Contribute To Chemistry
Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier was a French chemist in the chemistry field of science. He was also
known as the leader of the eighteenth century chemical revolution. He was born in Paris on August 26,
1743. His mother died at the age of five, although he had a close relationship with his father. Antoine
had one sibling, a sister. At the age of eleven, he entered the college known as Mazarin College.
Initially Antoine wanted to be an author. He submitted several essays in provincial competitions. Soon
though, he gave way towards in interest in science. After leaving Mazarin College, Antoine began law
school. He earned his bachelor degree, but later that following year, he earned his master s too. That
same year Antoine was admitted to the Order of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He first weighed all the carbon dioxide and water that was produced by burning. Between these
experiments, he was able to determine that a substance in air combines with burnable materials, to
cause combustion. Antoine then called this substance, oxygen. This had a great impact because the
conclusion of it all was that Antoine Lavoisier was able to demonstrate that water is able to be
composed of a combination of oxygen and hydrogen. He demonstrated the role of oxygen in animal
and plant respiration. He showed that although matter changes its state in chemical reaction, the
quantity of matter is the same at the end as at the beginning of every chemical reaction, giving
evidence of the law of the conservation of matter. Antoine was making history by now because of how
successful he was. In 1755 Lavoisier was appointed to the Gunpowder Administration. As a result of
his improvements in the manufacture and delivery of gunpowder, France was able to send large
quantities to The American Colonies during the Revolutionary War. Lavoisier was then made a
pensioner in 1778 (salaried member) of the Academy of

Last month I released an article highlighting Dreamville singer Ari Lennox. In my opinion, Ari is
going to be the next female artist to rise to fame alongside acts like SZA, H.E.R., and Jorja Smith. Her
PHO EP that was released a couple of years ago flew under the radar, but I feel she ll get the proper
push that she deserves. While she gets the spot on this list, I believe that Dreamville as a label has the
potential to own 2018. Artists like Cozz and Bas have confirmed to fans that they are in fact working
on new music. J.I.D released an album earlier this year, but I m sure he ll try to build off of the

CyHi is an artist I ve watch grow for nearly seven years now, and even I didn t think he had a No

consider it one of the best albums of the year. In an era of SoundCloud rappers he was able to make an
album full of bars that everyone can enjoy. Despite CyHi riding high on the album, he confirmed that
he already has more projects on the way. He started his Hystori series a few years ago, and he said we
can expect for him to continue it this February. Kanye is allegedly dropping next year, and we ve been
hearing rumors of Cruel Winter for years now. With Kanye and Pusha T preparing to drop, this is the
perfect time to release their compilation album with the success that Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Travi$ Scott,
and CyHi all saw in 2017. 2018 could be the year to move CyHi up in the ranks, and their aren t many

Native American Violence
The ever so basic life principle, violence is never the solution is one that has been taught to everyone
since day one. It s one of the most basic rules of life that we have been told to follow from parents,
teachers, and siblings. Although, in most cases violence is never the solution , Dr. Marcus and his
wife, Narcissa Whitman were incredibly disrespectful to the Native American Indians taking their
land, encouraging more emigrants to migrate, and were downright mean to the Indians. They also
worked incredibly hard to change everything about the Indians ways of life, which prior to the
missionary era had been working for decades. Therefore, I strongly believe that the Cayuse Indian

not OK for the Cayuse to kill the Whitmans because apparently there were no conflicts between them.
According to The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the trappers were much
impressed by the native religion in the area and found no conflict between Christianity and Native

strengthen trade relationships . This quote shows how the relationship between the Indians and

1. Describe the modeling technique that you were assigned in your own words.
The modeling technique that I was assigned Extended Backus Naur Form (EBNF). In software
engineering, expanded Backus Naur frame (EBNF) is a group of metasyntax documentations, any of
which can be utilized to express a setting free sentence structure. EBNF is utilized to make a formal
depiction of a formal language which can be a PC programming language. They are augmentations of
the fundamental Backus Naur frame (BNF) metasyntax documentation. EBNF is a code that
communicates the sentence structure of a formal language. An EBNF comprises of terminal images

being utilized as a part of compiler or parser. EBNF implies Extended BNF. There s not one single
EBNF, but rather numerous.

Weather In A Thousand Splendid Suns
Foster points out that the weather plays a critical role in a work of literature. Whether it be for plot
development or for a democratic reason, rain, snow, or fog plays a significant role in literature. In
general, rain can bring about enlightenment and restoration, and snow can bring abstract thought.
What an author does with rain, snow, or fog in the novel can signify a change in character or parallel
the atmosphere or what is happening in the novel. For much of A Thousand Splendid Suns, the
characters must withstand a drought. However, when there was a snowfall during the winter of 1992,

A Consensus On Our Policy Analysis Framework
In this paper I will be discussing how our class came to a consensus on our policy analysis framework.
To understand what we are attempting to accomplish, you need to understand the denotation of policy
analysis. Policy analysis is a technique used in public administration so individuals can evaluate and
scrutinize policies. Policy analysis is not only limited to policy s that are already enacted, policy
analysis can be used to analyze perspective policy s. There are already a handful of policy analysis
frameworks available for use. These include: Chambers 2009, Gilbert and Terrell 2009, Popple and
Leighninger 2004, and Dobelstein 2003. Many of the frameworks are heavily influenced by the work
of Eveline Burns, who was prevalent in the 1940 s and 1950 s. While these frameworks would have
been suitable to use for our analysis our class chose to create our own framework to help with
analysis. In these next few paragraphs I will explain how and why we chose what we did. The first
part of our policy analysis framework that we made was the goals and objectives section. We took this
specific concept from Chambers framework, although many of the other frameworks also use this
concept. The class came to a consensus as to what the definition would mean specifically. We all
chose to measure the policy s intended impact, as well as the policy s actual impact. We also agreed on
that participation in the program helps as a stepping stone for these individuals. What we mean by this

A Study On Drosophila Melanogaster
Abstract
Drosophila melanogaster was used for this study for their fast reproduction cycles, fast regenerations,
large amounts of offspring for each generation and their capability of living in a small limited space.
The dominant or recessive genotype could be determining by the used of Mendelian genetic ratios for
wild type to mutant s genes. The mutation that this study focuses on is the defects of the phenotypes in
the common fruit fly, example; wing shape, wing sizes, body color and what the main focus of this
experiment is dark eye pigment of the flies. These mutations were followed for three generations,
collectable data for wild type and mutants was obtained for each of the Drosophila melanogaster
generations. The flies were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender isn t a key factor when it comes to determining a autosomal inheritance, Only sex linked
chromosomes like X or Y have an effect on the ratios for male and females having mutant alleles. This
phenomenon is cause by the specific genome that each gender has, males have the XY chromosomes
for sex and females have XX sex chromosomes. The reason for using Drosophila melanogaster flies is
for their great genetics and fast reproduction that allows us to see in a short period of time the
Mendelian genetic ratios from one generation to the other. Among this reason many others are in great
importance as well, the common fruit fly has the same type of sex chromosomes as of humans, as
mention previously in the text male flies have the same XY sex genes as male humans and same for
female flies and female humans having XX sex genes. The fast regeneration, short life span and large
number of offspring makes this specific organism a prime species to examine and study for better
understanding of the Mendelian genetic ratios. Research was done on Drosophila melanogaster for the
genetic analysis of sex chromosomes, meiotic mutations and their effect on recombination,
disjunctions and their dominance (Baker and Carpenter, 1972). The mutation that is specific

Mark Twain is a pen name of Samuel Longhorne Clemens, one of the greatest novelist in the twentieth
century. As an American writer who was born in Missouri, Twain worked mainly as a printer for local
newspapers and as a riverboat pilot in his early career. Such experience provided him the setting for
two of his great works: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer(1876) and its sequel, The Adventure of
Huckleberry Finn(1885), ?the great American novel?. These two works reflected Twain?s attitude
towards slavery, civil rights and anti imperialism. His life was concluded as ?the greatest American

This book, in my opinion, talked about freedom through the change of attitude towards black slave,
Jim. Talking about background, although Twain wrote?Huckleberry Finn?two decades after the
Emancipation Proclamation and the end of the Civil War, America?and especially the South?was still
struggling with racism and the after effects of slavery.?By describing the change of attitude towards
Jim, Twain reached his target, supporting anti slavery.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,?The Adventures of Tom Sawyer?concerns itself primarily with
painting an idyllic picture of boyhood life along the Mississippi River. Though Twain satirizes adult
conventions throughout? The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,?he leaves untouched certain larger issues
that? The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?explores critically: the problem of slavery, was mentioned
indirectly in the Tom but was directly depicted in Huckleberry by using a character: Jim.

Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower
I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to go touring again and
today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We headed out at 10:00am and drove there in a cab, we
arrived and the view from our room was no match to the real deal, it was outstanding and a lot bigger
than I imaged too. We got in line for tickets and it didn t take to long, so we found our tour guide, so
that she could take us up in it, I was nervous and excited at the same time because I don t like heights,
but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the first floor or the first platform and let me tell
you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally, there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was
magnificent. After a while we got back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour
guide told us that it is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is Vegas. The elevator stopped and
we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a telescope and
plopped in a quarter. All I could say was wow, my mom and dad were almost speechless too. Once we
got up there I realized i wasn t afraid anymore, hopefully the contest was going to be the same way, I
took it all in, along with a thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking
at everything, it was like nothing I ve ever experienced before, it was perfect and so delicate, words
were not enough to explain it. The city was busy and all the cars and people looked like ants, the park
around us was perfect, the grass, the trees everything seemed so perfect around us, at least until it
started to pour rain. We ran into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because
there were people who didn t get in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After some time we
got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn t matter, we were drenched as well.
We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we
changed, to look at all the paintings and statues. It stopped raining after a little while and we decided
to go shopping around the boutiques, the look of the boutiques made me think that everything was

Came First Church
P Which came first, the Church or the mission of the Church? How do you answer that question?
When I have asked people that question, they usually answer the Church. We experience the Church
before we understand mission. We go to church. We worship in church. We come to know and grow in
our faith through the Church. People point out that the Holy Spirit came upon the 120 followers of
Christ in the Upper Room 10 days after Christ s Ascension. When the window opened and Peter gave
his first sermon, the Church began. What is often forgotten is what occurred 10 days before Pentecost.
For that we read Matthew 28:19 20, the last words Jesus spoke to his followers: Go, therefore, and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you... Jesus gave his followers a
mission, which preceded the formation of the Church. The formation of the Church would evolve
later, as we read about in the Acts of the Apostles. The mission, given by Christ, preceded the Church,
and the Church emerged from that mission.
If we take a moment and return to that rocky mountaintop in Matthew 28:19 20. Feel the breeze. Feel
the rocky soil under your feet. Hear all the people speaking around you. Be aware that Jesus is
standing there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Escobar says that the heart of mission is the drive to share the good news wit all, to cross every
boarder with the gospel. We live in a multicultural world where western Christianity is being
confronted by the Christianity of the Southern hemisphere, which is marked by a culture of poverty,
an oral liturgy, narrative preaching, uninhibited emotionalism, maximum participation in prayer and
worship, dreams and vision, faith healing, and an intense search for community and belonging. As a
result,

Prince Myshkin Essay
Concepts such as compassion, thoughtfulness, and empathy are what people all over the world would
seemingly strive for. Often, however, these benevolent ideas of the way society should be, are
muddled and manipulated by the reality of the way society actually is. Prince Myshkin, a Russian man
who represents the essence of kindness and morality, is thrown into the high society of Petersburg, a
society that is obsessed with money, power and reputation. In his selfless attempts to save his
companions from their destructive evil , Prince Myshkin is in turn transformed and distorted by a
superficial and empty society. The title of the book, The Idiot, fits well with Prince Myshkin s attitude
towards human nature and also does well to highlight his status as an outcast; however The Idealist is
a title that would better suit the Prince s thought process and actions. Returning from Switzerland,
Prince Myshkin acquaints himself with his distant relations, the Epanchins and finds himself in a vain
and greedy society. Despite numerous warnings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cursed idiot...He can t even tell anything! (Dostoevsky 87). Do to years of sickness from his epilepsy,
people around Myshkin assume that he is mentally incapable of understanding complex ideas or subtle
details, a prejudice that remains inveterate in their minds. By downgrading him to an idiot, Prince
Myshkin is isolated and brought into the light as an outcast. Since he is isolated and considered an
idiot, the contrast between Myshkin s character and the society is emphasized. Others use his illness as
a way to justify his strange behavior which is really just his compassion. Myshkin being an outcast
and being viewed as an idiot is essential to the philosophy behind the story. However, Prince Myshkin
is not as simple minded as everyone

Plastic Surgery And Cosmetic Surgery
Plastic Surgery
In today s culture, plastic surgery has become very popular in this society. When people think of
plastic surgery, they think of cosmetic surgery. Although both plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery
deal with enhancing a person s body, the training, research, and the goals for patients are different.
Therefore, both specialties are entirely different from one another. According to the American Board
of Cosmetic Surgery, Plastic Surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to the reconstruction
of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease. Plastic surgery is
intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature. The primary
objective of plastic surgery: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I had my reconstructive surgery, I was only 12 years old because I was born with a bone growth
disorder. My left side of my body was growing faster than my right side, which was making me grow
unevenly. However, as a kid and heading my teenage years, I grew up having a low self esteem and
felt horrible about myself because I felt out of place or not belonging. I could not wear cute sandals
that other girls were wearing, or do certain activities that other kids would do, such as; ice skating,
roller blading, and skateboarding. Because I was tippy toeing with my right foot, and I could not walk
normally or put my foot down flat like ordinary people; if I did I would limp. I guess subconsciously
as a kid; I would be tippy toeing so I can walk without limping or maybe it was just easier for me to
do. My condition prohibiting me from doing many activities that I wanted to do as a kid; it was a
harsh and depressing childhood for me. I remember crying to myself as a child, and sometimes to my
mom asking her, why wasn t I born normal like other kids are like my sister? my mother had no
response for me, but to say, God made you this way! I did not like that response at all, and I would not
argue with my mom about it either because I knew it made my mom sad to

Abstract
Location based tracking is becoming more and more common due to the ever changing technological
advances in the world today. Gone are the days where no one knew your location unless they were
physically with you. Today, location based tracking seems like the new trend in society with
companies such as Foursquare and EchoEcho. Some wonder what makes a person use services like
this to share with the world. That question may never be answered, but what is known is that some
individuals use it to share their favorite restaurant, bar, and hangout locations while others use it to
pinpoint the location of their children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maps come in handy when consumers are trying to get driving directions to a specific location or
finding the quickest route for travel. Groupon is also available for use when looking for discounts and
coupons to hotels, restaurants, and department stores. How many individuals can honestly say that
they have ever fully read the privacy policy of any technological tool? Not everyone does but should
so that they are aware of what information is being collected and how that information is being stored.
Most privacy policies are long and tedious and consumers usually just click the tab that says I agree so
that they can continue on with their activities. According to Google s privacy policy, an individual has
to give their consent before Google will use information for anything other than what is stated in their
privacy policy. It also states that they have the right to share your information with outside companies
or organizations, if they feel the information is necessary because of any legal implications or to
protect their rights and safety (Google Privacy Policy). GM s OnStar is equipped in over thirty
different models and is highly respected by its users (Onstar). GM vehicle owners are very
comfortable with OnStar and its ability to pinpoint their exact location in case of an accident, by
providing emergency officials their exact location to ensure a quick and accurate response time.
OnStar can give them brief information

Aristotle s Ethos Pathos Logos
Something that every good salesperson, copywriter, publicist, anyone whose livelihood rests on their
ability to sell, should know. And no, nothing sells itself. If you see an ad that claims this, that s a line.
But how do you learn persuasive writing? Why, you start from the beginning of course.
The very beginning. We re talking obscure Mesopotamian Akkadian scriptures. Don t have time to
read article from 23 centuries BC? Yeah maybe that s a little too early. Lets fast forward to Aristotle.
We re starting with Aristotle because he was one of the most influential philosophers on rhetoric. He
wrote a three part series entitled Rhetoric that outlined how people may build a powerful argument
using persuasion.
Outlined are the 3 means of persuading an audience according to ... Show more content on

And it is a part of a widely used persuasive writing structure called the 4 P s.
Creating ethos is what you are doing when you put testimonials on your website or share business
licenses and awards. It s creating an image of yourself as an expertise in your field. Hence, people will
believe you when you tell them your product will do XYZ for them.
Pathos
Pathos means the emotional argument. It s thought that the best copywriting appeals to emotions. The
logic behind emotional selling goes that if you sell by emotion, the thing you are selling is a want. If
you sell based on logic and need people will go for the lowest cost option. People are much more
likely to spend more money on something they want than something they need so selling my emotion
and want allows you to sell your product even if it s not the lowest option by a long shot.
Because pathos is such a critical component of powerful copywriting I will dedicate an entire article to
it and specific techniques used that elicit emotional reactions. For now, just watch this Samsung ad
featuring a snail (no that s not a typo) that pulls on your emotions

Hauntology And Humanity
Two steps will sketch how the urban bind to new technicity. First, a description of the broader societal
move and second my more personal reasons for the transversal. The hauntology of cities i.e., a certain
sustained technical reticularity make the political animal called human possible. Moreover,
hauntology sustains humans. People, in turn, nurture new potential technics. The atmosphere created
by this dialectic contains both the potential to harm or heal (Cole Turner, 2011: 3 4) a potential
Stiegler calls a pharmakon (Cf. Stiegler, 2010a: 47; Stiegler, 2010b).
Later, we will return to the pharmacological interplay between hauntology and humanity when we
consider technics as tertiary memory. For now, it is enough to notice how cities are an arrangement of
technics, pulled into a contingent pharmakon, producing what Heidegger (2010: 38) called a poiesis,
or if one prefers Norberg Schulz (1980: 23), Genus Loci. Now, however, the new technical network s
speed has blurred the to and fro movement of the urban assemblage.
In other words, new technological arrangements are relativizing the ... Show more content on

Examine the Effects of Globalisation on China
Examine the effects of globalisation on China
The process of globalisation in China has been a rapid one. China s exponential growth since the fall
of Mao has lead to increased international influence with China now operating on an international
scale.
Economically globalisation began in 1978 following Deng Xiaoping s Open Door policy. This opened
up China to foreign investment and the international markets. This lead to an influx of transnational
corporations, which was advantageous to Chinese companies who benefitted from technology transfer.
However, the TNC s moved to China for its cheap labour and manufacture, which presented an ethical
dilemma for China. Leaders had to decide whether to compromise on a lack of investment and poor ...

Globalisation has lead to the development of SEZ s along with Deng s Open Door policy.
Globalisation has given these SEZ s both advantages and disadvantages and has lead to rapid
economic growth but often compromised on the Chinese people.
Socially, globalisation has both increased levels of Westernisation and increased development in the
interior. Increased Westernisation has lead to both positive impacts with over 100 million Chinese
have internet access, with 360 million owning a mobile phone, whilst 380 million own a TV.
However, this can mean a loss of culture with the younger generation less willing to retain traditional
practices like farming and rice planting, but instead want to move into the city and enjoy a western
style living. Globalisation has lead to both the benefits from Westernisation eg McDonald s
sponsoring the 2008 Olympics, but also the negatives including a loss of cultures and traditional
Chinese practices. Development along the interior as also resulted from globalisation. As China has
been put under pressure to reduce rural urban inequality, it has begun development in rural areas. This
has lead to the transformation of White Horse Village into a major city. This has meant that the old
village was demolished and new high rise buildings replaced rice paddies. This has increased growth
in the area and had meant an influx of migrants back

Essay On My Day On The Day
Beep! Beep! Beep! The alarm goes crazy early in the morning to wake me up. I let out a groan as I do
a full body stretch. I slowly crawl out of my warm cozy bed and work my way into the bathroom. I
flip the shower knobs on and wait 30 seconds to get in to the tub. I wet everything down before I put
special no scent shampoo into my hair. I lather up the shampoo and let it sit in my hair. While it sits in
my hair I put some no scent soap onto a wash rag and lather up my whole body face to toe. I quickly
rinse all of the lathered up soap off my body and grab a towel to dry off. I stay in the shower to dry off
because all of the warm moist air is still trapped inside. I brace myself to get out of the warm shower
and go into the artic feeling bathroom. I quickly run out of the bathroom to go and throw some shorts
on. After I throw shorts on I crawl up the stairs like a gorilla would. I nonchalantly pour some cereal
and milk in a bowl and start to devour it. I eat before I get dressed so no human food scent gets onto
my hunting clothes. Depending on the weather you will either want to dress in layers if it is very cold,
have the bare minimal if it is warm, and just a few layers if it is just chilly. For very cold conditions
you first put on your long johns or insulated underwear. Then you put on long wool socks, tucking in
the insulated underwear underneath the wool socks to maximize leg warmth. Next, you slip on a
compression long sleeve shirt to keep a lot of heat in. You

Japanese Gardens And The Garden
Japanese Gardens are a garden style that originated in Japan with design elements that are in line with
the Buddhist belief. Buddhist teaching is symbolized in the different elements that make up the garden
as a whole. Buddhism belief is used in the inspiration of various elements through the use of water,
stone, and architectural pieces. The Japanese Garden that used to break down the broad scope of all
the different elements is a Japanese Garden. I chose to use this Japanese Garden as my primary garden
since I have visited multiple times at the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Garden here in town. In
this garden, all the key elements of the water, stone, and architectural features can be seen. In Japanese
Gardens, water is one of the basic elements in the water surface of the garden. This is the basis over
which the whole garden consists. It symbolizes the continuous flow of time and life change elements
in the garden (5 Japanese Garden Elements). There are several different ways to include the elements
of water in a Japanese garden: the use of a pond, water basin, and waterfall. A pond in these gardens is
usually irregularly shaped to reflect how a natural pool would look the mountains (Harte). The pond
within the garden symbolize vitality and how water is pure (Shinn). A tsukubai or a water basin (as
seen in figure 2), is a special dish with bamboo shoots, which is can be used by visitor to stop and
bend over to wash their hands and mouth. The symbolism behind a

  • 2. Hills Like White Elephant And Story Of An Hour Heart Trouble at the Train Station Chaeme Vogue Details are what the world is made of, think of the oceans, composed by tiny drops of water. Never underestimate the power of place and image, even when limited. While both Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and Hills like White Elephants , by Ernest Hemingway have different settings, both effectively use setting to reveal character and acts as a symbol within the story. The stories are of two females, Louis Mallard for Hour, in her two story house, spring time is here, rain is in the air, and death hangs in the atmosphere. Jig on the other hand from Hills, is in the heat of a foreign country called Spain at a train station with an American, having a little chat about elephants. Dig deeper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Louis it is the start of spring, a new life with rain to cleanse and purify the air and patches of blue sky, the gloomy clouds parting with the end of winter, Bentley s death. Marriage was a cloudy shadow over her happiness but now the horizon of her life is clearing. Jig also has a cloud in her life; the American man is casting a shadow over the field of grain, her baby. The fertile field is along the river bank, her opportunity, and the mountains on the otherwise of that is her pregnancy. However there is also a tree in her way that she looks through to the mountains. This tree is deep rooted misogyny. Dictating what she does with her life. In one sense it is her won internalized misogyny that she must be submissive and please. Here it is much simpler all she must do is step around the tree and enter the light. In the other sense it is the man standing in her way much like with Louise and Bendy standing in the door way. Standing in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before you board that airplane, I am attempting to SAVE YOUR LIFE at the most keep you from arrest or fines at the least, embarrassment. I have been asked by the Chairperson of F FOOK K to speak to you today because there just may be no one more qualified to address the topic of Foreign Faux Pas than moi . FAUX PAS is French. Spelled as if it should be pronounced FOX PASS, but it IS NOT! The X and the S are, SILENT. And that, friends, should be the first faux pas you step around. According to Vocabulary.com Dictionary, Faux pas literally means false step; social blunder. Do not take a false step into a big pile of . . . embarrassing or offensive unlawful, social crap. Why me, you ask? Unfortunately, I have seen the inside of more foreign police stations, consulates and embassies than most heads of state; probably more than most talking heads, radioheads, OR Deadheads, and CERTAINLY more than any heads of class. My first faux arrest was at the tender age of 6 while my father was US Ambassador to Singapore; I simply forgot to flush the toilet in a public restroom. Who knew?!? • 5. The Economic And Social Changes During The 1960s Under The... Life in America began to undergo great economic and social changes during the 1980s under the Reagan Administration. During this period of time, stagflation began to distress the US economy, leaving millions of Americans to fall victim to homelessness and poverty. The unemployment rate had reached its highest peak since the Great Depression, creating a major crisis for low income families and other individuals concerning living conditions. The introduction of Reaganism into society primarily focused on reducing the growth of government spending through the modulation of federal income tax and reduction of government regulation to diminish inflation. Despite all attempts for economic recovery, the US struggled to bounce back from the 1970s recession and in time led to the significant rise in urban poverty. Uniquely, an American film director from the 1980s by the name of John Carpenter produced a science fiction film, They Live, that served as a powerful and eye opening depiction of his own personal views of Reaganism (Reaganomics). He essentially depicts our world to be controlled by powerful elites who have created a repressive society that we are unwilling brought to live and build in. He also clarifies how the majority of Americans during the 1980s were focused primarily on materialism and how an individual s success was measured by the amount of money they possessed. Carpenter s major criticisms of 1980s America included the impact of consumerism in America as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Borderline Personality Disorder ( Adhd ) Introduction Borderline Personality Disorder was first listed in the DSM in 1980. It is classified as a cluster B personality disorder. Before then it was unsure if it was a disorder on its own, if it only coexisted with other disorders, or only mocked other disorders. Most people suffering from BPD have problems regulating emotions and thoughts, have impulsive and reckless behavior, and have unstable relations with others. High rates of comorbidity occur with this disorder including; depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and eating disorders. BPD affects about four percent of the community, but can be as high as twenty percent in many clinical psychiatric populations. It can be difficult to treat because it responds poorly to most conventional methods of treatment and because of how little we still know about it. There have been many great discoveries about BPD in only a few decades. There are still many questions to be answered about this disorder, but it has gone from a label attached to those who did not quite fit into other categories to a completely separate and somewhat understood mental illness. History First recorded accounts of symptoms associated with BPD can be found in medical literature from almost three thousand years ago. Adolph Stern would be the first to describe the symptoms, possible causes, and what he thought to be the best treatment. Stern referred to patients with these symptoms as the border line group. • 7. Iran and Access to Nuclear Weapons Currently, Iran does not have the capacity to launch a missile directly at the United States ( The Iranian nuclear, 2013). This, however, may change. If the Iranians develop a nuclear weapon, they are most likely going to develop a vehicle to deliver the warhead. This is where a direct threat to the United States lies. Even without an ICBM, Iran can still load a nuclear device into a shipping container, or even launch a missile off a ship from the coast. Iran would also most likely hand over information on nuclear weapons to one of its state sponsored terrorist groups. In turn, the terrorists would use the weapons against the U.S. and its allies all over the world. The President has stated that America will not allow Iran to pursue a nuclear weapon, and that he is prepared to use all available American power to prevent that from happening (Sherman, 2013). This begins with the strict sanctions imposed on the country. Iran is currently under a lot of pressure to discontinue its uranium enrichment. If Iran were to hand over any developed nuclear weapons information to its terrorist groups, that would cause alarm for the entire world. Extremists with the most deadly weapon ever could potentially destroy thousands, if not millions of innocent lives. This type of fear would give Iran and its terrorists an edge on the world stage. The fear of launching a nuclear attack would drastically change how the U.S. and its allies deal with Iran. To stop that, the U.S. and its allies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was also known as the leader of the eighteenth century chemical revolution. He was born in Paris on August 26, 1743. His mother died at the age of five, although he had a close relationship with his father. Antoine had one sibling, a sister. At the age of eleven, he entered the college known as Mazarin College. Initially Antoine wanted to be an author. He submitted several essays in provincial competitions. Soon though, he gave way towards in interest in science. Between these experiments, he was able to determine that a substance in air combines with burnable materials, to cause combustion. Antoine then called this substance, oxygen. He demonstrated the role of oxygen in animal and plant respiration. He showed that although matter changes its state in chemical reaction, the quantity of matter is the same at the end as at the beginning of every chemical reaction, giving evidence of the law of the conservation of matter. Antoine was making history by now because of how successful he was. In 1755 Lavoisier was appointed to the Gunpowder Administration. • 10. Ese Essay Last month I released an article highlighting Dreamville singer Ari Lennox. In my opinion, Ari is going to be the next female artist to rise to fame alongside acts like SZA, H.E.R., and Jorja Smith. Her PHO EP that was released a couple of years ago flew under the radar, but I feel she ll get the proper push that she deserves. While she gets the spot on this list, I believe that Dreamville as a label has the potential to own 2018. Artists like Cozz and Bas have confirmed to fans that they are in fact working on new music. The album received praise from both critics, and fans as many consider it one of the best albums of the year. He started his Hystori series a few years ago, and he said we can expect for him to continue it this February. It s one of the most basic rules of life that we have been told to follow from parents, teachers, and siblings. The modeling technique that I was assigned Extended Backus Naur Form (EBNF). In software engineering, expanded Backus Naur frame (EBNF) is a group of metasyntax documentations, any of which can be utilized to express a setting free sentence structure. EBNF is utilized to make a formal depiction of a formal language which can be a PC programming language. They are augmentations of the fundamental Backus Naur frame (BNF) metasyntax documentation. EBNF is a code that communicates the sentence structure of a formal language. An EBNF comprises of terminal images and non terminal creation rules which are the limitations administering how terminal images can be joined into a legitimate arrangement. • 18. A Consensus On Our Policy Analysis Framework In this paper I will be discussing how our class came to a consensus on our policy analysis framework. To understand what we are attempting to accomplish, you need to understand the denotation of policy analysis. Policy analysis is a technique used in public administration so individuals can evaluate and scrutinize policies. Policy analysis is not only limited to policy s that are already enacted, policy analysis can be used to analyze perspective policy s. There are already a handful of policy analysis frameworks available for use. These include: Chambers 2009, Gilbert and Terrell 2009, Popple and Leighninger 2004, and Dobelstein 2003. Many of the frameworks are heavily influenced by the work of Eveline Burns, who was prevalent in the 1940 s and 1950 s. While these frameworks would have been suitable to use for our analysis our class chose to create our own framework to help with analysis. In these next few paragraphs I will explain how and why we chose what we did. The first part of our policy analysis framework that we made was the goals and objectives section. We took this specific concept from Chambers framework, although many of the other frameworks also use this concept. The class came to a consensus as to what the definition would mean specifically. We all chose to measure the policy s intended impact, as well as the policy s actual impact. We also agreed on that participation in the program helps as a stepping stone for these individuals. A Study On Drosophila Melanogaster Abstract Drosophila melanogaster was used for this study for their fast reproduction cycles, fast regenerations, large amounts of offspring for each generation and their capability of living in a small limited space. The dominant or recessive genotype could be determining by the used of Mendelian genetic ratios for wild type to mutant s genes. The mutation that this study focuses on is the defects of the phenotypes in the common fruit fly, example; wing shape, wing sizes, body color and what the main focus of this experiment is dark eye pigment of the flies. These mutations were followed for three generations, collectable data for wild type and mutants was obtained for each of the Drosophila melanogaster generations. The flies were ... Gender isn t a key factor when it comes to determining a autosomal inheritance, Only sex linked chromosomes like X or Y have an effect on the ratios for male and females having mutant alleles. This phenomenon is cause by the specific genome that each gender has, males have the XY chromosomes for sex and females have XX sex chromosomes. The reason for using Drosophila melanogaster flies is for their great genetics and fast reproduction that allows us to see in a short period of time the Mendelian genetic ratios from one generation to the other. Among this reason many others are in great importance as well, the common fruit fly has the same type of sex chromosomes as of humans, as mention previously in the text male flies have the same XY sex genes as male humans and same for female flies and female humans having XX sex genes. The fast regeneration, short life span and large number of offspring makes this specific organism a prime species to examine and study for better understanding of the Mendelian genetic ratios. Research was done on Drosophila melanogaster for the genetic analysis of sex chromosomes, meiotic mutations and their effect on recombination, disjunctions and their dominance (Baker and Carpenter, 1972). Mark Twain is a pen name of Samuel Longhorne Clemens, one of the greatest novelist in the twentieth century. As an American writer who was born in Missouri, Twain worked mainly as a printer for local newspapers and as a riverboat pilot in his early career. Such experience provided him the setting for two of his great works: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer(1876) and its sequel, The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn(1885), ?the great American novel?. These two works reflected Twain?s attitude towards slavery, civil rights and anti imperialism. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,?The Adventures of Tom Sawyer?concerns itself primarily with painting an idyllic picture of boyhood life along the Mississippi River. Though Twain satirizes adult conventions throughout? The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,?he leaves untouched certain larger issues that? The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?explores critically: the problem of slavery, was mentioned indirectly in the Tom but was directly depicted in Huckleberry by using a character: Jim. • 22. Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to go touring again and today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We headed out at 10:00am and drove there in a cab, we arrived and the view from our room was no match to the real deal, it was outstanding and a lot bigger than I imaged too. We got in line for tickets and it didn t take to long, so we found our tour guide, so that she could take us up in it, I was nervous and excited at the same time because I don t like heights, but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the first floor or the first platform and let me tell you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally, there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was magnificent. After a while we got back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour guide told us that it is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is Vegas. The elevator stopped and we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a telescope and plopped in a quarter. All I could say was wow, my mom and dad were almost speechless too. Once we got up there I realized i wasn t afraid anymore, hopefully the contest was going to be the same way, I took it all in, along with a thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking at everything, it was like nothing I ve ever experienced before, it was perfect and so delicate, words were not enough to explain it. The city was busy and all the cars and people looked like ants, the park around us was perfect, the grass, the trees everything seemed so perfect around us, at least until it started to pour rain. We ran into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because there were people who didn t get in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After some time we got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn t matter, we were drenched as well. We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we changed, to look at all the paintings and statues. We experience the Church before we understand mission. We go to church. We worship in church. We come to know and grow in our faith through the Church. People point out that the Holy Spirit came upon the 120 followers of Christ in the Upper Room 10 days after Christ s Ascension. When the window opened and Peter gave his first sermon, the Church began. What is often forgotten is what occurred 10 days before Pentecost. For that we read Matthew 28:19 20, the last words Jesus spoke to his followers: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you... Jesus gave his followers a mission, which preceded the formation of the Church. The formation of the Church would evolve later, as we read about in the Acts of the Apostles. The mission, given by Christ, preceded the Church, and the Church emerged from that mission. If we take a moment and return to that rocky mountaintop in Matthew 28:19 20. Feel the breeze. Often, however, these benevolent ideas of the way society should be, are muddled and manipulated by the reality of the way society actually is. In his selfless attempts to save his companions from their destructive evil , Prince Myshkin is in turn transformed and distorted by a superficial and empty society. The title of the book, The Idiot, fits well with Prince Myshkin s attitude towards human nature and also does well to highlight his status as an outcast; however The Idealist is a title that would better suit the Prince s thought process and actions. The logic behind emotional selling goes that if you sell by emotion, the thing you are selling is a want. If you sell based on logic and need people will go for the lowest cost option. People are much more likely to spend more money on something they want than something they need so selling my emotion and want allows you to sell your product even if it s not the lowest option by a long shot. The hauntology of cities i.e., a certain sustained technical reticularity make the political animal called human possible. Moreover, hauntology sustains humans.
