Ellis V. Ellis Case Essay
As we previously discussed, we have entered into settlement negotiations with the plaintiff. As
you will recall, the plaintiff s initial settlement demand was $950,000. In response, we offered
$25,000 and the plaintiff countered at $900,000. We were hoping for a more significant move
on behalf of the plaintiff in order to continue informal negotiations. As a result of the
unsatisfactory counter to our offer, we are discontinuing negotiating directly with the plaintiff.
Instead we will engage in non binding mediation in an attempt to resolve this claim. To that end,
we suggested Case Ellis to serve as the mediator. Mr. Ellis has been mediating cases for over
twenty years and is an instructor for other mediators. The plaintiff s attorneys initially rejected
Mr. Ellis, but we were able to convince them that he is extremely well qualified and considered
to be one on the best mediators in the country. Consequently, we are pleased to report that the
plaintiff has had a change of heart and has agreed to mediate the case with Mr. Ellis and we will be
doing so in Chicago, possibly on June 2 or 3. (Case Ellis is from the northwest suburbs of... Show

History In 1822, when Brazil won its independence, Poland did not exist on maps of the political

Located between the Banda and Timor Sea, lies a small nation called Timor Leste a.k.a. East
Timor, which is part of an island known as Timor. In 1520, the Portuguese were first settling into
Timor; a little before the year 1860, Portugal and Netherlands fought for the land of Timor but with

while West Timor belonged to the Netherlands. After 455 years of Portugal
colonizing East Timor,
Portugal suddenly withdrew their rule which lead the island to be completely vulnerable. On July

An Essay On Landscape Photography
Landscape Photography
You can follow some rules for getting beautiful image. For Landscape Photography following the
techniques, you will hold the perfect moment and get vivid pictures. Thus, you will be able to
capture some amazing beauty that you see.
Learn More About Landscape Photography
Reading the article, you will learn more about Landscape Photography. Here are given some
techniques to follow.
1. Depth of field
Many landscape photographers desire an image which appears sharp throughout the scene, so that
elements of foreground interest, such as a rock in a lake, look just as sharp as the distant horizon.
This can be achieved relatively easily using the principles of depth of field whereby the smaller an
aperture you use, such as f/22, the greater the area both before and beyond the point of focus also ...

Capture Movement
Most people think about landscapes they think of calm, serene and passive environments
however landscapes are rarely completely still and to convey this movement in an image will add
drama, mood and create a point of interest. Wind in trees, waves on a beach, water flowing over a
waterfall, birds flying over head, moving clouds make image nice.
Capturing this movement generally means you need to look at a longer shutter speed. This means
more light hitting your sensor which will mean you need to either go for a small Aperture, use
some sort of a filter or even shoot at the start or end of the day when there is less light.
8. Work with the Weather
A scene can change dramatically depending upon the weather at any given moment. So, choosing
the right time to shoot is of real importance. An overcast day threatening to rain might provide you
with a much better opportunity to create an image with real mood and ominous overtones. Look for
storms, wind, mist, dramatic clouds, sun shining through dark skies, rainbows, sunsets and sunrises
etc and work with these variations in the weather rather than just waiting for the next sunny blue sky

King Lear Reversal
All the above reversals or incongruities are to be present, in a lesser or more degree, in King
Lear. To begin with, the reversal of hierarchies strikes us first and foremost in the very opening of
the play: here one is met with an earlier sign of authority being loosened, when the king decides to
divide his own kingdom:
Meantime , we shall express our darker purpose― Give me the map there. Know that we have
divided In three our kingdom; and tis our fast intent To take all cares and business from our age,
Conforring them on younger strengths, while me Unburden d crawl toward death. (I. i. 35в€’40)
The reversal of roles starts right from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And this is, in keeping with the poetics of grotesque realism, taken to be degradation conceived
here in terms of the Bakhtinian conception of the movement of the cosmic carnivaleque
cartwheel. Hence, Lear desires to divide his kingdom so that he Unburdened crawl[s] toward
death (I. i. 40), which is so central to Ronald Knowles s notion of the carnivalesque degradation
as this implies going down to earth, the grave, the womb.12 But Lear s degradation or crawling
back again to the womb does not necessarily mean that he is giving up the masculine monarch he
is. Much to the contrary, degradation here means for him digging a bodily grave for a new birth.
13 His wish to be mothered by the three of his daughters is clearly shown in his selfish need to
enjoy the parade of love he expects his daughters to perform. Again Knight has this to say about this

Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And...
Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market
Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting
more students and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need
to accommodate all the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the
University. The current location of the university is right in the middle of Downtown
Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the parking situation are pretty stringent.
Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also holds executive classes for
online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school equally high even on the
select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400 undergraduate, 2600 graduate
students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University only has one (1) 16 story
academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage within the same
building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story are
hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2].
Apart from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends
and after 5:00 PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a
more comprehensive approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus

Bowl Of Stew
I listen to a great deal of leadership material while in my truck. Just to give you perspective, I
drive about a thousand miles a week for work. This audio of Andy Stanley is at the top of the
list. It is interesting that this will be our writing topic for the week, because as I listened my
thoughts were on the problem. As the presentation of Andy, I asked myself this question, what
bowl of stew will it take for me to hire the guy that has what appears to be shady (tapping his life
shadows) ethics as it relates to sharing proprietary information? Will my shadow for
advancement be over whelming to the point I will have a lapse in my judgment or in my
character and hire this guy for my personal gain? Does the most powerful person in the room
come into play as it relates to this hire? If yes, how will I give this power to others to make a
team decision instead of a personal decision? I ponder these things as I listen to the audio and relate
them to our problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Even with this affliction, Reagan s parents showed their two boys the value of fairness and

president of the United States (Orr 27). At the age of nine years old, the Reagan family settled
down in Dixon, Illinois (Boyarsky 164). When Reagan was a boy, he enjoyed drawing cartoons
and reading numerous books (Orr 21). Watching Tom Mix, his favorite movie actor, was another
passion Reagan carried with him while growing up (Orr 22). Reagan became a freshman at
Dixon Northside High School in 1924 (Orr 26). This high school was concentrated more on the
arts and cultural studies rather than sports (Orr 26). While in high school, Reagan was elected
student council president (Boyarsky 165). Early in his high school career, Reagan began dating a
girl named Myrtle Williams (Edwards 133). Myrtle and Reagan s mother, who also performed in
many local plays (Boyarsky 164), influenced Reagan to join the drama club at his school (Orr 30).
As a result, Reagan performed in many school plays (Boyarsky 165). During his teen years, Reagan
had many summer jobs, including being a construction worker, a golf caddy, and a lifeguard, his
favorite (Orr 29). Being the only lifeguard at Lowell Park, Reagan was credited to have saved a
total of 77 lives from drowning over his six year span of being a lifeguard (Sidey 143).

Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee Williams
Music and literature in collaborative form allow authors to expand elements of themes, plot, and
characters in a way accessible to readers. Although the book, A Streetcar Named Desire by
Tennessee Williams, is essentially the dialogue and stage directions for the adorned Broadway play,
reading it allows for insight into Williams reasoning in constructing the story and its characters.
Truly, Williams particular choice of musicnot only fits the setting of the story, but also allows him
to construct complex characters and establish the mood for the scenes of the play.
Set in New Orleans, it is not surprising that Williams choses to incorporate music fitting to the
setting. At the start of the play, Williams indicates the presence of a blue piano (that) expresses the
spirit of the life which goes on there (Williams 3). Located at the Four Deuces, this piano is often
mentioned within the stage directions, and this recurring symbol of blues music emphasizes
moments of passion, love, and life in Elysian Fields. In Scene 2, this blue piano makes an
appearance as it plays louder while Stanley inadvertently reveals to Blanche that Stella is pregnant
(Williams 44). It returns in Scene 3 when Stanley calls out to Stella after their argument. This leads
to an introduction into their lustful relationship, indicated in the stage directions, as they come
together with low, animal moans (Williams 67). Williams even carefully notes the distinctions in the

Analysis Of Pablo Neruda
In most cases, texts that are translated lose meaning, as sometimes words from a native language
cannot be translated exactly into a desired language, or they lose context. World literature
translations also lead to the dangers of a single story where you only get to read one side of the
story (the one of the author) without having a perspective of the natives about the story that was
written. To understand, how language is used in world literature, and how text translations change
our understanding and meaning of the text, we need to be able to understand the culture, have
historical understanding of the time the literary work was written, and factors that might affect
society in which the author had written. When one wants to study world literature, they need to
consider that translations of the text smooths out not only linguisticsrichness but also the original
and political force a work can have in its original context. World literature needs to be studied
with close attention to the original language and context, including works that have new meaning
and take new dimensions abroad. There is a shift that unfolds on the internal logic of the work
itself, but often come as complex dynamic of cultural change and contestation. For a work to be
considered a valuable piece in world literature it must be read first as literature, and secondly
circulate into a broader world beyond linguistic and cultural point of origins. Pablo Neruda s
poems are post colonial responses to

The Anxiety Of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder is a disorder that I struggle with personally. It is when a person has
a tense feeling of stress, and anxiety for long periods of time without any real cause of it. Even
though everyone has fears, and has stress from time to time it isn t harmful unless the anxiety and
stress is keeping someone from living their life, and relaxing. Generalized AnxietyDisorder is
different from other anxiety disordersbecause panic attacks rarely occur, and instead an
overpowering sense of dread is long lasting.
People with GAD, and myself have fears that other people without the disorder have, except the
fears are taken to a new level. For example, I am a person with GAD who has an extreme fear of
flying on airplanes. I will try to avoid flying on airplanes as much as possible, and even cancel
plans or vacations because of my fear. Over spring break I was supposed to fly to Costa Rica for a
study abroad class but cancelled a few weeks before because of all the stress of having to fly on a
plane. For me, when I m on an airplane I feel that if I don t constantly worry, or repeat certain
phrases then something bad is going to happen.
Other symptoms of GAD are difficulty falling asleep, and staying asleep because of all of the
unexplainable stress, and anxiety. People also may struggle with excessive stomach problems such
as Diarrhea, or Nausea. People with GAD can have muscle aches, cramps, or muscle tightness, and
feel restless all day without relief, or able to

The Partition Of India And Pakistan
The 1947 partition of India and Pakistan influenced the Indian Film Industry, more commonly
known as Bollywood, to produce films that sought to evoke Indian nationalism not only directly
after the Partition, but also continuing throughout the 20th century. Films associated with the split
between the two nations celebrated Indiaas it transitioned from colonization to independence, while
also demonizing Pakistanand thus creating an extremely intense anti Pakistani sentiment throughout
India. In particular, two significant Bollywood films, Mother India and Border, sought to prove
these qualities. While Mother India lauded India as a newly independent nation, Border rebuked

response to maltreatment in their own country was with the rise of nationalist movements. In 1885,
the Indian National Congress was formed primarily with a focus on equal political rights for Indians
in a mainly British run government. This became the largest and most prominent Indian public
organization, and central and defining influence of the Indian Independence Movement. (Wiki)
However, Indian politics was divided because of religious differences between the two largest
religions in India Hindus and Muslims. The majority of members in the INC were Hindus, while
Muslims were a minority. In 1905, Britain split Bengal between Hindus and Muslims for elections.
Due to the Muslim minority in the INC, Muslim leaders felt they were underrepresented, and

Teenage Wasteland
Teenage Wasteland The teenagers I interviewed were all relatively affluent, by all appearances
and their own admission, and this in and of itself created some differences between their
perspectives and my own. In general, however, I think that the passage of time and the different
values and perspectives of parents and of teenagers in the current era are more responsible for
the changes in responses that I observed in the interview as opposed to what I myself might
have said as a teenager in answer to the questions posed in the interview. What they liked about
being a teenager was relative freedom while still being able to depend on their parents, and they
disliked the rules and the amount of activities they had; they went on to mention best things that
included things ranging from romantic partners to video games, and worst things that focused
primarily on various aspects of school specific teachers, subjects, etc. I, on the other hand, would
have said that my independence was what I liked the most about being a teenager, as this was the
time in my life when my parents made it clear that I both would and should depend on them less
for transportation, keeping myself organized, etc. I disliked the amount of responsibility I had to
some degree, but all of my responsibilities were things of my own choosing and would have also
represented the best thing in my life (the extracurricular activities that I chose to participate in).
Today s teenagers seem to have very

Odour Of Chrysanthemums And The Rocking-Horse Winner
Short stories have been around for many years. D.H. Lawrence has wrote many stories. Two of
his stories are Odour of Chrysanthemums and The rocking horse winner . There are several
differences and similarities between the two stories. The similarities and differences between the
two stories are with the characters, theme and imagery. Overall, the two stories were very similar
with differences in details. The primary theme of both stories is love. In both of his stories, there
is an issue with the mother s lack of love. In addition to love, D.H. Lawrence centered both stories
on family dynamics. The theme is on the interaction and relationship amongst family members. In
both stories, the mother struggled to with love. Though the mother in Odour of Chrysanthemums
appeared to have loved and cared for her children, she felt cold about her unborn child. The
mother in The rocking horse winner felt no love for all of her children. In the both stories, the
father did not play an active role, but he is discussed. The fathers appeared to be working a lot.
Even with the fathers being employed there were still concerns about money for both mothers.

How Has Technology Changed American Culture
Technology is such a big part of our lives now so we can already say that the next generation will

It affects about 80% of people s daily lives. From being the greatest at videogames or the funniest
person on YouTube they have all consumed you and also how you live in your daily life. Our
generation of teenagers/young adults are becoming more and more lazy and dependent on
technology so there is no telling how much more lazy the next generation will be. I think
technology has made our generation of teens more ignorant, greedy, and lazy. As my parents
always say well when I was a kid we didn t have all those little fancy cell phones, televisions with
1000 channels or high tech computers back then all we had was a bike, ball, and our
imagination. And I ll just roll my eyes even though I know for a fact that each generation is just
fading more and more and depending on technology way too much. I wouldn t be surprised if
soon, people made chairs that will hover around to get a drink from the fridge or to take you to
and from the rooms in the house so they don t have to get up and walk to do simple tasks.
Technology is taking over our world and no one is realizing this. Computers and cell phones are
good tools for everyone to use, but it doesn t need to be used for every little thing. Technology
can be useful it many ways like curing cancer or school work. It should be used is as a tool or for
helpful reasons, and should not be used for laziness or ignorance. Overall technology has a huge

Simone Beauvoir
Throughout history, women have been constantly objectified and forced into submission by a
male dominated society. Simone de Beauvoir s philosophical work, The Second Sex, echoes this
intense oppression of women and reflects the first wave feminist movement. Her existentialist
decoding of genders resulted in the idea of the Other, which explores the phenomenon that women
are forced into the role of an object, while men are the subject. In the second chapter of The
Second Sex, The Girl , Beauvoir further studies the idea of this oppression during one s transition
from a girl into a woman. Beauvoir states that no matter how much freedom and sense of self a
girl holds, she is always forced into the role of the Other in society. Beauvoir s idea... Show more

Beauvoir describes the relationship between men and women as, In her eyes, man embodies the
Other, as she does for the man; but for her this Other appears in the essential mode, and she
grasps herself as the inessential opposite him (Beauvoir 342). Men embody the Other in the eyes
of women and are the subject and absolute to women. On the other hand, women are referred as
the Other and are subordinate to men. She must be inessential in comparison to him, which is the
exact opposite of the relationship between Mako and Korra. Unlike the relationship between girls
and men that Beauvoir describes, Korra is the subject in relation to Mako. By himself, he is
essentially nothing which completely contradicts Beauvoir s idea of the Other. Without Korra,
Mako is incomplete, his entire identity is based off Korra. He speaks about himself in relation to
Korra, It s harder being the Avatar s boyfriend . His submission is shown through becoming
inessential opposite [her] and that he is only something in reference to Korra. He is not the
absolute and disproves Beauvoir s claim that women are inessential in relation to

Essay on Uranus
The bland aquamarine face of Uranus bears witness to the fact that Uranus is enshrouded in clouds.
The planet appears to be blue green because the atmosphere absorbs the, red wavelengths of the
visible spectrum, . The uniformity of the planet s appearance confirms that the planet s atmosphere
is composed almost solely of one element, methane gas. There is a preponderance of haze,
composed of ethane and other hydrocarbon ices high in the stratosphere, and clouds of methane ice
low in the troposphere. The cloud particles constantly recycle themselves, first creating then
destroying the heaviest crystals. This is an indication that Uranusatmosphere is still evolving from

moons were found. They include Prospero, Setebos, Stephano and 1986 U 10.
The Giant planets do not have the same kind of structure inside that the terrestrial planets do. Their
evolution was quite different than that of the terrestrial planets, and they have much more gas and
ice inside.
Uranus s interior composition is primarily that of methane ice.
Motions in the interior of Uranus contribute to the formation of the magnetosphere of Uranus. Heat
generated within Uranus contributes to the unusual motions of the atmosphere.
The magnetosphere of Uranus is medium sized, but still much larger than the Earth s. It extends
well beyond the orbits of Uranus moons. It is probably generated in the icy interior layers, rather
than with a metallic component at the core.
The magnetosphere of Uranus has a very strange orientation, tilted by almost 60 degrees from the
vertical. The extreme tilt, combined with the extreme tilt of the rotation axis of Uranus, provides
for a completely unique magnetosphere, one which has a twisting structure!
Mathematical theory suggests that the rings of Uranus affect the both the motion of particles in the
magnetosphere, as well as creating a strange,

Is Holden Caulfield Ignorant
Adolescence, this is a time where you figure out who you truly are. This soul searching leads to
self realization. Holden Caulfield from The Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger, has trouble
accepting himself. Throughout his days he would put on a cap just to be someone else. It is his
get away place, a place of isolation. A way for him to seclude from the world and become
someone he isn t. This is relatable to numerous teens. Though Holden could be described using
numerous adjectives, Holden s character can be perfectly described as ignorant, a liar, and a
slacker. He is ignorant because he does not learn from his mistakes. He is a compulsive liar.
Finally, he is a slacker because he avoids work. Holden is just like countless people out there
who do not apply themselves. You see, Holden could be smart. He could be successful. He just
doesn t have the motivation or ambition to do so. Being ignorant means to lack knowledge or
awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated. Holden is known to be this way because he gets
himself into the most severe situations. However, once he is out of them, he will have the same
issue later on. This is because Holden is not astute. He repeats those mistakes because he does not
learn from them. This makes him ignorant. An example of a situation is when he gets in a fist fight
with Stradlater. I tried to sock him, with all my might, right smack in the toothbrush, so it would
split his goddam throat open, (Salinger, pg 43). From this we know that

Taking a Look a the Munchausen Syndrome
Munchausen!!!
If you know someone with munchausen syndrome, you know how bad the disease is. If you
don t know someone with the disease, I will tell you all about it. the disease isn t very big or
popular anymore, because not a lot of women don t have this disease anymore. I have done a lot
of research, and most of the diagnoses were done in the 1900s, but the disease is still around
some places. This disease is mostly diagnosed to women, because most men don t feel the need
to these kind of things. Personally, I don t know anyone with the disease, but I have been doing
research for a while and things do get really serious. The disease is when women, that have
children, don t feel enough love from their kids so they poison their kids food, and when kids are
sick, what do they usually want the most their momma. Then the kids want their mother and the
mothers feel loved more that usual. Women with munchausen are putting the lives of innocent
children in danger, some are even going to the extreme and taking their lives.
Munchausen syndrome is a serious mental disorder in which someone with a deep need for
attention pretends to be sick or gets sick or injured on purpose. People with Munchausen syndrome
may make up symptoms, push for risky operations, or try to rig laboratory test results to try to win
sympathy and concern.Typically, the cause is a need for attention and sympathy from doctors,
nurses, and other professionals. Some experts believe that it isn t just the

Persuasive Essay On Alcohol Abuse
Throughout someone s lifetime, they get lectured about the effects of alcohol and that alcohol is a
taboo and that it should be consumed in very limited amounts. Parents tell one s child that they
should vow to never drink because it would destroy their bodies when they grow older. Kids are
even put into programs like D.A.R.E and M.A.G.I.C when they are in elementary school, that
teaches them why one should not drink alcohol and expresses how alcohol affects your health. The
overuse of alcohol/alcohol abusecan affect one s weight and the function of one s organs
throughout someone s lifetime. It is a known fact that to gain weight one must consume more
calories. However, not everyone is aware of the daily intakes that have a superfluous amount of
calories that lead to weight gain. This happens to be the case with alcohol and the people that
are addicted to it. Teens who tend to be binge drinkers are likely to gain around 33 pounds per
year (Ciolfe). This would not tend to be a problem if weight gain did not lead to the possibility
of having obesity. Obesity is not just being overweight, obesity has the tendency of causing other
health related problems that can truly put someone s life at risk. (MedLinePlus). People can
develop obesity the same way they are to gain weight; however, the difference is that being obese
means to have more body fat than needed. One can contract obesity by the overconsumption of
alcohol because if one drinks too much they will be constantly consuming more calories than what
is needed, leading to the body creating more body fat than normal. Obesity caused by alcohol does
not only occur in teenagers who are binge drinkers, it could also occur within adults who suffer
from alcohol abuse. Authors Shelton and Knott conducted a research in which they surveyed the
consumption of alcohol in adults in England (1). Their study has reportedly stated that there is a
direct impact on the intake of calories and the increase of chances of obtaining obesity. Men have
reportedly consumed more alcohol calories than women but this does not eliminate the fact that
both genders are gaining weight and becoming closer to getting obesity because of their
overconsumption of alcohol. The overconsumption

By utilizing his main subjects as the focal point for the whole story, he enabled his subjects to

communication, understanding other people, caring and loving others. Words like hear or listen
(Shannon 174) became the innermost concepts of the story as it revealed its narrative form. Thus,
this research paper is all about the two brothers and how their lives became intertwined with music.
This is a story about communication particularly during the time wherein music became the way
for the older brother to understand Sonny s sorrow, sadness and depression. These are the things
that Sonny wanted his brother to hear and listen to. It was a story of connection which was all
about Sonny s blues and how such special event changed both of their lives altogether.
As the narrator felt that he fully understood his brother, he was able to feel a sense of relief. He
also noticed that he became more understanding and kinder to others. This event implied that the
older brother learned how to accept reality and moved on with the story of human emotions,
sorrows, pain and anger to the world. The older brother saw how this circus of emotions swarmed

Legal issues against Walmart have been brought up in many different states. Many states has a
minimum wage requirement that has to be followed by all the businesses in the state. One
example is the case Walmart Stores vs S.C. Savaglio, where a group of Walmart employees sued
Walmart because Walmart allegedly had violated California s meal period law (Cascio, 2010).
Walmart lose $172 million dollars in the general and punitive damages. Not even a year after that,
Walmart loses another lawsuit in the state of Pennsylvania for forcing employees to work off the

The recommendation of the writer for Walmart is to get unionized so that Walmart can mitigate
possible litigation. Walmart then can save a lot of money and time in fighting against lawsuits
coming from their employees.
Union Benefits, Profits, and Bargain
Union benefits the employee by negotiating with their employer as a group to get a higher pays,
benefits, better hours, etc. Unionization process is done with employee agreement to agree to use
union in representing them in negotiation with employers. The Legal Basis to engage in union

Similarities Between Good Country People And A Good Man Is...
In Flannery O Connor s two short stories, Good Country People and A Good Man is Hard to Find
, Marxist and feminist aspects of both pieces are prominent in how the protagonist women and
antagonist men reaffirm these perspectives. For example, the grandmother and Hulga represents a
delusional upper class that views itself differently from the rest of the world, and the Misfit along
with Manley Pointer represent the masculine reality to that delusion. The grandmother s family
represents the way things actually are and serve as a scapegoat for her to pass judgment on,
whereas Mrs. Freeman, the housekeeper from Good Country People concentrates on the ghastly
reality that the supposed good country people idealize.

stark difference separates the two characters. Hulga possesses an insane amount of knowledge and
has no one to converse with. Her mother and Mrs. Freeman would both rather entertain platitudes
about the good country life than be involved in stimulating conversation about anything of interest
to Hulga. This is also where the grandma and Hulga truly diverge, as one can easily infer that the
grandma would rather indulge in frivolous and upper class conversations about nothing of

The Holocaust Of The World War II
Elie Wiesel Says..
Nowadays, people tend to forget the morality of human beings. For instance, the people in today
s world are attracted to greed or power letting their mind and body rot them. However, are we
doing a right in letting people like that win? It might not seem much or anything, but as history has
shown us otherwise with World War II. Like letting a tyrant leader like Adolf Hitler take over
different countries and bring in what is believed the most horrific discrimination ever known.
Therefore, it is right to agree with Elie Wiesel a former target of the Nazi Final Solution that the
moment race and religion are involved then that soon must become the center of the universe s

To begin with, this all started when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only reason Britain and France actually cared to fight against Hitler was the invasion of
Poland. In addition, the same goes for the United States when they entered the world war because
of the attack on Pearl Harbor. So it comes to question does anyone in the world have any heart?
Some say yes and others say no. However, why did the world not listen to what was going on?
Government elites must have known but ignored and came only to care when their country was on
jeopardy.
On the other hand, most people believe that this ideal of race and religion discrimination has
ended and that the world is a lot better today than the way it was began. They are right that world
is better than it was, yet race and religion discrimination has only tricked to a certain amount. For

Dangers Of Teen Pregnancy
Pregnancy and sex based diseases have become an unfortunate reality for teens in our society.
Sexually active teens as young as 13 years old are contracting harmful and dangerous diseases that
threaten their lives. Staggering amounts of teenagers, around three million, have unprotected sex,
from which they unfortunately contract STDs (Besharov 1). While some teenagers do not know
the dangers of unprotected sex, such as STDs, others just choose to ignore them (Basso 125). Teen
pregnancyis also very prevalent all over the world. Even though teen pregnancy rates in the
United States are at a low, teens that are not educated in safe sex are still at risk of becoming
pregnant. Some teens are even getting pregnant, just so they do not lose their boyfriend, or for
attention. While children are wonderful, many teens are not mentally and/or physically prepared
for children so young. For many people, it is believed that many teens are pressured to have unsafe
and dangerous intercourse by the media. Although some teens (13 19) have unprotected sex early
on purpose, many are influenced by sex based commercials and advertisements because of lack of
contraceptive ads, parental control, and sexual content in movies and TV show. While some teens
choose to have unprotected copulation, or intercourse, many are not aware of the dangers because
of lack of contraceptive advertising. On primetime TV, an abundant amount of sexual content,

In contrast to Bismarck, Kaiser believed that in order to keep Germany in power and prevent them

Bismarck was content with having good relations with different European countries but also

Bismarck s decisions and policy effected the first World War when he used a series of conflicts to

Theme Of Power And Corruption In The Most Dangerous Game
Power and corruption have always gone hand in hand with the world today. The characters in the

FDA to inspect manufacturer s food additive in food. The GRAS has a loop hole that put
manufacturer s products on shelves without the need of FFDA official approval for inspecting the
food additives. Food additive are substances added to foodto improve their taste, preservation, and
appearance. Though most food additives are beneficial and provide nutritional value, companies
are not realizing the harmful substance of the food additive and needs to be properly inspected for
the safety of the public. The FDA states that, it is the responsibility of the manufactures, or safety

A Cold War
A cold war has broken recently between the government and the Supreme Court in Nepal. One or
the other side may win this war, but the constitution, the due process of law and the Nepali people
will be the ultimate losers in it. It is important to put the case in perspective to cut out the
misinformation about it. The government promoted Deputy Inspector General Jaya Bahadur Chand
as inspector general of police. His competitor Nawaraj Silwal went to the Supreme Court against the
decision. The court quashed the decision, and the government appointed another DIG Prakash
Aryal to the post. Silwal knocked the court s door with the second petition, which the court for

Similarly, the public is divided. In view of the widespread criticism, the government decided to
put the motion on hold, and the Parliament decided to postpone its meetings until after the local
elections due on 14 May 2017. But the debate continues unabated. Based purely on the
constitutional provisions, I agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously
and for going after Karki to intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from
holding it to account through judicial reviews of its decisions and follow ups. Here are the
provisions of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of
parliament can move the motion of impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme
Court if they fail to fulfill his their duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law,
incompetence or misconduct or failure and honestly or serious violation of the code of conduct.
Section (6): Once the motion is moved, the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court would not
be able to discharge their duties. Article 103 (7) and (8): The legislature has the authority to punish
anyone who undermines its privileges. Article 105: The legislature cannot discuss anything sub

Electrical Energy Into Mechanical Energy
4.1.Principle of Operation
Ultrasonic sensors are devices deployed to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy.
Ultrasonic waves are longitudinal waves which move as a series of compressions and rarefactions
across the direction of wave propagation through the medium [37]. In addition to distance
measurement, they are also utilised in ultrasonic material testing to detect; air bubbles, cracks, and
other defects in products, detection of object and position, ultrasonic mouse, etc [37].
Ultrasonic sound waves are mechanical vibrations that display all of the same features as audible
sound waves, only they operate at higher frequencies. Audible sound wave frequencies range
between 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In contrast ultrasonic waves range from 20 kHz to 800 MHz,
Generally, ultrasonic waves that are used for the testing of materials range from around 0.5 MHz
to 20 MHz [38]. Ultrasonic waves are transferred via vibrating particles; therefore, ultrasonic waves
require a transmission medium whether it is solid, liquid, or gas along which to propagate [3].
The velocity of sound is not constant, but, it alters in dissimilar media and also in the same
medium at different temperature. For instance, it is estimated to be roughly around 331.9272
meters per second at 0В°C in air medium; however, it increased to around 344.4240 meters per
second at 20В°C in the same air medium, or an increase of around 0.6248 meters per second for
every centigrade degree rise in temperature [39]. Sound

Coming of Age Rituals Essay
Coming of Age: The Passage to Adulthood Rituals around the world all teach valuable lessons that
help initiates see the value and importance of life. Each culture has different rituals that provide
experiences for their youth to learn these valuable lessons of life. Many coming of age rituals are
intense procedures. The Amazon s Satere MawГ© youth enter adulthood through the bullet ant
glove initiation, teaching courage and endurance, and the crocodile scaring ritual that the men from
the SepikRiver in Papua New Guineaparticipate in teaches them pain and accomplishment.

6) This ritual is one of many unique traditions that initiates who endure the procedure learn the
valuable lesson of courage.
Learning Courage
The bullet ant glove ritual teaches initiates courage, for they must complete this procedure to be
considered an adult. This coming of age ritual is painful, and to have to go through with such a
task will enable the young men to learn how to be brave. The bullet ant glove ritual is not a one
time occasion. According to Bre Cruickshank (2012) If they complete the ritual without crying out
or wincing they have become a man. The most respected men who want to obtain the status of
being a strong warrior, repeat the ritual 20 times. (Cruickshank, 2012, para. 8) Through
experiencing the bullet ant glove that many times, it is evident that initiate s learn courage. In the
Webster dictionary, courage is the ability to do something that frightens one (Webster Dictionary).
As a Satere Mawe tribe member being able to endure these stinging gloves is considered horrific
to many people, and being able to complete this ritual instills courage in every young man that
participates. As they willingly participate they begin to learn that what they want, in this case; to
be known as a man, takes a lot of courage to go through such a painful process. The strength it
would take to endure such a painful tradition causes these young men to look beyond the pain and

Examples Of Foreshadowing In Tangerine
Tangerine is a book full of interesting details and ideas. The protagonist, Paul, attempts to
remember what happened to his eyesight, and why he must wear thick glasses. After moving to
Tangerine, Paul meets new friends and plays his favorite sport, soccer. However, he is
constantly overshadowed by the star of his family, Erik. Paul thinks his brother Erik is a jerk,
but everybody else sees him as the great football star. In Paul s mind, he is the person that is not
blind, he can see things his parents could not. In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Bloor
strategically uses suspense and foreshadowing to portray the theme of standing up to fear. First
of all, Bloor uses suspense to display fear, as in page 168, I could see Erik lurking behind me, in
the shadows of the imaginary clock. Erik is like a shadow behind Paul, always ready to jump him.
This line is full of suspense, as the meaning is not entirely clear. It can be interpreted in many
ways, however, all of it will eventually unravel and explain the mystery behind it all. Another quote

one of Paul s friends. The two do not get along very well, and all this builds up to a fight between
them. These examples of foreshadowing can be seen throughout the story. On page 258, a quote
states Tino crossed the floor and walked up to Erik. Which would mean that Tino is confronting
Erik, which builds up a lot of tension. Another quote on page 214 says Erik, you ll need to give
me your key...I got it in my locker at school, I keep a lot of my stuff there. This quote is about
Erik talking to Paul s mom about a key. Erik has his key in the locker, which makes Erik look
suspicious. Leaving his key in the locker may seem like Erik trying to hide something from Paul s

Essay on We Are All Equal
We are all born the same way: as humans, and therefore deserve the same rights and acceptance
as long as we all follow the laws and comply with the norms set to protect all individuals. But
throughout history certain groups of people have faced discrimination, segregation, and
injustice because they are of a specific race, skin color and/or culture that some of us consider to
be part of a lower category of human beings, as well as the fact of holding different beliefs and
ideals along with preferences when it comes to things such as gender and choice of lifestyle. My
only wonder is how an individual or a society as a whole reaches the point of producing enmity
towards others who do not hold the same sexual orientationas they do and how... Show more content

M. V. Lee Badgett mentions in his article What Obama Should Do About Workplace
Discrimination, that this would make a great first step on what concerns banning workplace
discrimination against homosexuals by federal contractors. If the government, the structural
system of our country, is not only willing to accept all but pose as a model of approval towards
all kinds of sexual orientations, then so should we, the people, who make part of the nation.
Discrimination against this group of people is unfortunate, but extremely common nowadays; more
and more individuals are being harassed, not compensated with adequate wages, and/or fired from
their jobs because of the way they sexually identify themselves. This strikes a fear in gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender employees who feel as though they must produce more than the average
worker in order to not be affected or expelled from their jobs, often leading them to not take
illness days off, vacations, and to perhaps be more productive than the majority of their colleagues.
Badgett explains that by issuing an executive order against workplace discrimination, President
Obama will be able to gradually bring back equality to the nation, providing parallel opportunities
for all and reducing stress, fear, as well as death and unemployment rates in the gay community.

My Wrestling Experience
Wrestling has been a huge aspect and a great experience of my high school career. Wrestling has
taught me a lot over the past three years from hard work all the way to ethics. But the most
important thing has taught me morph my failure into success. That with hard work anything may
be achieved. My freshman year I was really overweight and could not keep up with any of the
intense exercises we would do. I did not win a single match all year and basically did not improve
all year. The worst part is that some of my wrestlingpeers told me to just quit. That I would never
improve and not do well at the sport.I seriously contemplated every day during wrestling season
and after if I wanted to continue the sport. I would constantly hear my peers you... Show more

believed in me and told me to not quit it will pay off. Sophomore year comes around and we start
to practice in the room. I had improved a bit because I had gone to the summer practices. They
had given mi endurance so that I could keep up with the intensive exercises. It felt amazing to be
able to keep up with everything. First tournament comes around and I am pumped because I had
put in all the work and pushed myself everyday. First day I lose both of my matches and puts me
into the loser s bracket. The next day I lose 3 straight matches. I had become really frustrated
because I was giving it my all and I still couldn t win a single match. My final match comes up
and I win it. I had this surge of joy jumping inside of me but on the outside I still had my
wrestling face on. My coach taught me to always get up and shake your opponent s hand even if
you lose. I had that down. But he also taught me that when you win you act as if you had done it
a thousand times. I headed back to the stands and my whole team was congratulating me. That
was an amazing feeling, finally being able to celebrate a win. My friends were right after all. I
am currently in my fourth year in wrestling and I have improved drastically. All the failure I had
experienced as a beginner, taught me a life lesson. That failure is a vital step to success. Without
the experience of wrestling I would have never learned this valuable

Importance Of Measuring Meridian Arcs Essay
The completion of the survey of a great chain of first order triangulation s along the arc of the 30th
meridian of east longitude, from South Africa to Egypt, is considered one of the most exceptional
surveying feats to ever be executed in Africa and thus its history has interested geodetic surveyors
throughout the world. This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs,
the need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the
sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc.
The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as
far back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th
century, geodesists were pre occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of
the size and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to
determine the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc,
conceived by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty s Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the
understanding that it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and
dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy.
However, besides the need to determine more accurate dimensions for the Earth (Hendriks, 1955),
there was a pressing need to establish a reliable and

Relationships In Avatar
Many similar themes reflecting relationships with nature can be found in the film Avatar, the
most obvious being the flowering stick. This correlates to Home Tree and the Tree of Souls,
which are the Omaticaya people s direct connection to Ey wa, their mother spirit. The flowering
stick as the center of the nation s sacred hoop is even found in a particular scene in which the
Omaticaya people are trying to save scientist Grace Augustine by transferring her soul from her
human body to her Na vi avatar. In this scene, the Omaticaya interlock hands and are seated in
circles surrounding their sacred tree, the Tree of Souls (Cameron Avatar, 2009: 2:12:26 2:16:08).
This is a very clear reference to the flowering stick at the center of the sacred

The Core Values Of Hindu Religion
I was curious to know if the Hindu people, who have drastically different beliefs from one
another, are able to come together at a designated location and worship as one congregation. The
core values the Hindu people share allow practitioners of all varying beliefs to accept their religious
differences and come together as one congregation to worship. An example of this is illustrated
through the failures of the worship communities and the success of pluralism over time.
To begin, it s important to know that almost nothing is entirely agreed upon in within the Hindu
community ( Hinduism 1). The few things all Hindus can agree on are the defining factors of the
religion; meaning, if you don t subscribe to these beliefs, you don t technically identify as Hindu.
The principles all Hindus can agree upon are: the Vedas are a very important scripture, karma is
real, reincarnation is real, and all perspectives are welcome and ultimately better the religion
(Darity, Jr. 477; Hinduism 4). Of the few core values that all Hindus share, tolerance is among the
most important. You cannot discredit one s religious preference or beliefs and still be considered
Hindu. Almost every other principle and belief is ambiguous and not wholly agreed upon. This
means that even people with conflicting beliefs are accepted as Hindus as long as they believe in
karma, reincarnation and the Vedas, and their differences strengthen the religion.
Pluralism is a defining trademark of Hinduism. Pluralism

Great Expectations Social Class Analysis
Social status and money play a big role in our society today. This tends to affect how many are
treated. For example, the wealthy tend to get more recognition, due to their extreme amount of
money and the things they have. Whereas the lower class tends to get a bad reputation of being
known as uneducated, poor and common. This is well applied to many of the characters in the
book Great Expectations. In fact, social class and money determine how characters in Great
Expectations interact amongst each other. When some of these characters experience a class
that they are unfamiliar with, expecting great things, they are oblivious to how they treat their
peers. In the beginning of the book, we meet Pip and are introduced to his perspective of life.
Pip lives with his older sister, Mrs. Joe, and her husband, Joe Gargery. They could be described
as belonging to the lower end of the social class. ...Mrs. Joe Gargery, who married a blacksmith
(Dickens 1). Later on, as Pip evolves, he is hurt when he gets called common by Estella. This
changes Pip s perspective of himself and leads him to wanting to be known as uncommon. When
Pip later becomes wealthy, he changes into someone he is not. He begins to strongly mistreat
others, based on the contrast of social class between the different characters.
Biddy is one of the many characters influenced by social class. Have you ever considered that he
may be proud (Dickens 116). Biddy becomes angered at the result of Pip s sudden change

USA Today s Relevance In The Marketplace
If USA Today was stuck in a commodity status, they would most likely be out of business because
they would still be offering printed versions of the newspaper still and not adopting new and
innovated ideas. However, since their launch in 1982, they have adapted their business to be geared
towards the consumer and stay relevant in the marketplace (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). They are
constantly developing new and innovative ways to keep consumers interested and relevant by
looking at their demographics and using that to promote themselves.
An example of USA Todays relevance in the marketplace was in 1998 when the NBA had a
lockout and players refused to play and USA Today used this scenario to modify their newspaper

Communication In Nursing
Every day I encounter various situations that put my values and beliefs at risk. Reflecting on my
experiences, is a journey I take to restoration while living in my truth. The scenario I recount in this
reflection is a life lesson that has helped me personally and professionally.
Topic and description of the scenario
Communication is arguably the most important skill I will use over the course of my future
nursing career. It is not enough to critically evaluate a disease process, but the psyche of the patient
and family must be considered regularly. To adequately assess any situation and ensure a more
positive experience, effective communication lines must be established.
On the first day of my pediatric clinical rotation, I was assigned to an eighteen day old newborn
girl (J.L.) diagnosed with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) contracted during her hospital stay.
Due to her condition, she had been moved to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to decrease

As a professional, I will be called on to communicate with my patients, their families, and inter

effectively communicate, I attempt to refine my skills with each opportunity. As a witness to this
issue, it is my belief that quality communication and empathy are not practiced by all health care
professionals. Regardless of this experience, I continue to believe my values are directly linked to
better patient outcome. I am no longer jaded and know that despite the length of time in practice
and experience there will be short comings. Unfortunately, patient centered and family care are the

Harry Truman s Fair Deal
After a decade of Democracy, the Republican party moved into the White House. Along with this
shift in the government, there were also many economical and social issues that followed along.
Once the first election of the decade in 1952, the government started to factor in the Korean War,
inflation, the New Deal, Harry Truman s Fair Deal, and the major problem with John McCarthy
and McCarthyism. In the background of the politics in the nation, economically things were
changing. As World War II was ending and the Korean War was in its early stages, a period of
inflation affected the United States. In order to deal with the rate of inflation old policies
resurfaced and new policies were created, and finally groups of people were organized to maintain
stability with the policies. Ultimately in the end the economic played a role in how the nation
played out socially. This was the decade that: the baby boomers peaked, laws and protection plans
were created to give veterans education and jobs, and finally civil rights movements were initiated.
During the 1950 s government, financing, and social had rapid and powerful movements and
changes.
When it comes to the politics across the nation during this decade there were two elections, some
trials, and new acts and legislations. After the Democratic party ruled the White House for a
decade, it all changed with the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. At the beginning of the
decade in office was vice President Harry S Truman,

  • 2. Ellis V. Ellis Case Essay As we previously discussed, we have entered into settlement negotiations with the plaintiff. As you will recall, the plaintiff s initial settlement demand was $950,000. In response, we offered $25,000 and the plaintiff countered at $900,000. We were hoping for a more significant move on behalf of the plaintiff in order to continue informal negotiations. As a result of the unsatisfactory counter to our offer, we are discontinuing negotiating directly with the plaintiff. Instead we will engage in non binding mediation in an attempt to resolve this claim. To that end, we suggested Case Ellis to serve as the mediator. Mr. Ellis has been mediating cases for over twenty years and is an instructor for other mediators. The plaintiff s attorneys initially rejected Mr. Ellis, but we were able to convince them that he is extremely well qualified and considered to be one on the best mediators in the country. Consequently, we are pleased to report that the plaintiff has had a change of heart and has agreed to mediate the case with Mr. Ellis and we will be doing so in Chicago, possibly on June 2 or 3. (Case Ellis is from the northwest suburbs of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Learn More About Landscape Photography Reading the article, you will learn more about Landscape Photography. Here are given some techniques to follow. 1. Depth of field Many landscape photographers desire an image which appears sharp throughout the scene, so that elements of foreground interest, such as a rock in a lake, look just as sharp as the distant horizon. This can be achieved relatively easily using the principles of depth of field whereby the smaller an aperture you use, such as f/22, the greater the area both before and beyond the point of focus also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Capture Movement Most people think about landscapes they think of calm, serene and passive environments however landscapes are rarely completely still and to convey this movement in an image will add drama, mood and create a point of interest. Wind in trees, waves on a beach, water flowing over a waterfall, birds flying over head, moving clouds make image nice. Capturing this movement generally means you need to look at a longer shutter speed. This means more light hitting your sensor which will mean you need to either go for a small Aperture, use some sort of a filter or even shoot at the start or end of the day when there is less light. 8. Work with the Weather A scene can change dramatically depending upon the weather at any given moment. So, choosing the right time to shoot is of real importance. An overcast day threatening to rain might provide you with a much better opportunity to create an image with real mood and ominous overtones. Look for storms, wind, mist, dramatic clouds, sun shining through dark skies, rainbows, sunsets and sunrises etc and work with these variations in the weather rather than just waiting for the next sunny blue sky ... • 8. King Lear Reversal All the above reversals or incongruities are to be present, in a lesser or more degree, in King Lear. To begin with, the reversal of hierarchies strikes us first and foremost in the very opening of the play: here one is met with an earlier sign of authority being loosened, when the king decides to divide his own kingdom: Meantime , we shall express our darker purpose― Give me the map there. Know that we have divided In three our kingdom; and tis our fast intent To take all cares and business from our age, Conforring them on younger strengths, while me Unburden d crawl toward death. And this is, in keeping with the poetics of grotesque realism, taken to be degradation conceived here in terms of the Bakhtinian conception of the movement of the cosmic carnivaleque cartwheel. Hence, Lear desires to divide his kingdom so that he Unburdened crawl[s] toward death (I. i. 40), which is so central to Ronald Knowles s notion of the carnivalesque degradation as this implies going down to earth, the grave, the womb.12 But Lear s degradation or crawling back again to the womb does not necessarily mean that he is giving up the masculine monarch he is. Much to the contrary, degradation here means for him digging a bodily grave for a new birth. 13 His wish to be mothered by the three of his daughters is clearly shown in his selfish need to enjoy the parade of love he expects his daughters to perform. Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting more students and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need to accommodate all the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the University. The current location of the university is right in the middle of Downtown Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the parking situation are pretty stringent. Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also holds executive classes for online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school equally high even on the select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400 undergraduate, 2600 graduate students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University only has one (1) 16 story academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage within the same building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story are hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2]. Apart from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends and after 5:00 PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a more comprehensive approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus activity and ... This audio of Andy Stanley is at the top of the list. It is interesting that this will be our writing topic for the week, because as I listened my thoughts were on the problem. As the presentation of Andy, I asked myself this question, what bowl of stew will it take for me to hire the guy that has what appears to be shady (tapping his life shadows) ethics as it relates to sharing proprietary information? Will my shadow for advancement be over whelming to the point I will have a lapse in my judgment or in my character and hire this guy for my personal gain? Does the most powerful person in the room come into play as it relates to this hire? If yes, how will I give this power to others to make a team decision instead of a personal decision? I ponder these things as I listen to the audio and relate them to our problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If self leadership is the core of how I am and how I will operate, will this difficult work of dealing with my bowl of stew cause me to stop rationalizing other behavior as well. For example, I struggled with a bowl of stew called pornography for some years, my rationalization was, and it is better than having an affair and loosing my family and marriage like my coworkers. As you can see the bowl of stew was large, and without the help of my spouse and other accountability partners, I would be giving up my birth right for temporary personal gratification. Given the Position of Secretary of the State Given the position of Secretary of the State, I would lead the operations of international relations, diplomatic missions, foreign policy of the United States, and other diplomatic efforts. (U.S. Department of State, 2014). In this duty position I report directly to the President, my recommendations would be to bring the troops home, as a sign that we are moving in the direction of becoming a peaceful nation. Given that we have a large military overseas it would send a message that we are willing to start negotiating peacefully and not forcefully. In 2007, the research from the Worldwide Network of US Military Bases: The Global Deployment of US Military Personnel revealed that personnel accumulated 325,000 in foreign countries not including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (Dufour, 2007). Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee Williams Music and literature in collaborative form allow authors to expand elements of themes, plot, and characters in a way accessible to readers. Although the book, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, is essentially the dialogue and stage directions for the adorned Broadway play, reading it allows for insight into Williams reasoning in constructing the story and its characters. Truly, Williams particular choice of musicnot only fits the setting of the story, but also allows him to construct complex characters and establish the mood for the scenes of the play. Set in New Orleans, it is not surprising that Williams choses to incorporate music fitting to the setting. At the start of the play, Williams indicates the presence of a blue piano (that) expresses the spirit of the life which goes on there (Williams 3). Located at the Four Deuces, this piano is often mentioned within the stage directions, and this recurring symbol of blues music emphasizes moments of passion, love, and life in Elysian Fields. In Scene 2, this blue piano makes an appearance as it plays louder while Stanley inadvertently reveals to Blanche that Stella is pregnant (Williams 44). It returns in Scene 3 when Stanley calls out to Stella after their argument. This leads to an introduction into their lustful relationship, indicated in the stage directions, as they come together with low, animal moans (Williams 67). • 19. Analysis Of Pablo Neruda In most cases, texts that are translated lose meaning, as sometimes words from a native language cannot be translated exactly into a desired language, or they lose context. World literature translations also lead to the dangers of a single story where you only get to read one side of the story (the one of the author) without having a perspective of the natives about the story that was written. To understand, how language is used in world literature, and how text translations change our understanding and meaning of the text, we need to be able to understand the culture, have historical understanding of the time the literary work was written, and factors that might affect society in which the author had written. When one wants to study world literature, they need to consider that translations of the text smooths out not only linguisticsrichness but also the original and political force a work can have in its original context. Kids are even put into programs like D.A.R.E and M.A.G.I.C when they are in elementary school, that teaches them why one should not drink alcohol and expresses how alcohol affects your health. The overuse of alcohol/alcohol abusecan affect one s weight and the function of one s organs throughout someone s lifetime. It is a known fact that to gain weight one must consume more calories. However, not everyone is aware of the daily intakes that have a superfluous amount of calories that lead to weight gain. This happens to be the case with alcohol and the people that are addicted to it. Teens who tend to be binge drinkers are likely to gain around 33 pounds per year (Ciolfe). This would not tend to be a problem if weight gain did not lead to the possibility of having obesity. Obesity is not just being overweight, obesity has the tendency of causing other health related problems that can truly put someone s life at risk. (MedLinePlus). People can develop obesity the same way they are to gain weight; however, the difference is that being obese means to have more body fat than needed. One can contract obesity by the overconsumption of alcohol because if one drinks too much they will be constantly consuming more calories than what is needed, leading to the body creating more body fat than normal. Obesity caused by alcohol does not only occur in teenagers who are binge drinkers, it could also occur within adults who suffer from alcohol abuse. Authors Shelton and Knott conducted a research in which they surveyed the consumption of alcohol in adults in England (1). Their study has reportedly stated that there is a direct impact on the intake of calories and the increase of chances of obtaining obesity. In Flannery O Connor s two short stories, Good Country People and A Good Man is Hard to Find , Marxist and feminist aspects of both pieces are prominent in how the protagonist women and antagonist men reaffirm these perspectives. For example, the grandmother and Hulga represents a delusional upper class that views itself differently from the rest of the world, and the Misfit along with Manley Pointer represent the masculine reality to that delusion. The grandmother s family represents the way things actually are and serve as a scapegoat for her to pass judgment on, whereas Mrs. Freeman, the housekeeper from Good Country People concentrates on the ghastly reality that the supposed good country people idealize. Their feelings of isolation coupled with the two s moral superiority complexes make them supremely scathing women to be reckoned with, and most of the words that come out of their mouth are harsh with little regard to how their ill chosen words affect others. However, one stark difference separates the two characters. Hulga possesses an insane amount of knowledge and has no one to converse with. Her mother and Mrs. Freeman would both rather entertain platitudes about the good country life than be involved in stimulating conversation about anything of interest to Hulga. This is also where the grandma and Hulga truly diverge, as one can easily infer that the grandma would rather indulge in frivolous and upper class conversations about nothing of importance than look introspectively at herself and her own existence. • 43. Electrical Energy Into Mechanical Energy 4.1.Principle of Operation Ultrasonic sensors are devices deployed to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. Ultrasonic waves are longitudinal waves which move as a series of compressions and rarefactions across the direction of wave propagation through the medium [37]. In addition to distance measurement, they are also utilised in ultrasonic material testing to detect; air bubbles, cracks, and other defects in products, detection of object and position, ultrasonic mouse, etc [37]. Ultrasonic sound waves are mechanical vibrations that display all of the same features as audible sound waves, only they operate at higher frequencies. Audible sound wave frequencies range between 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In contrast ultrasonic waves range from 20 kHz to 800 MHz, Generally, ultrasonic waves that are used for the testing of materials range from around 0.5 MHz to 20 MHz [38]. Ultrasonic waves are transferred via vibrating particles; therefore, ultrasonic waves require a transmission medium whether it is solid, liquid, or gas along which to propagate [3]. The velocity of sound is not constant, but, it alters in dissimilar media and also in the same medium at different temperature. For instance, it is estimated to be roughly around 331.9272 meters per second at 0В°C in air medium; however, it increased to around 344.4240 meters per second at 20В°C in the same air medium, or an increase of around 0.6248 meters per second for every centigrade degree rise in temperature [39]. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th century, geodesists were pre occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of the size and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to determine the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc, conceived by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty s Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the understanding that it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy. • 50. The Core Values Of Hindu Religion I was curious to know if the Hindu people, who have drastically different beliefs from one another, are able to come together at a designated location and worship as one congregation. The core values the Hindu people share allow practitioners of all varying beliefs to accept their religious differences and come together as one congregation to worship. An example of this is illustrated through the failures of the worship communities and the success of pluralism over time. To begin, it s important to know that almost nothing is entirely agreed upon in within the Hindu community ( Hinduism 1). The few things all Hindus can agree on are the defining factors of the religion; meaning, if you don t subscribe to these beliefs, you don t technically identify as Hindu. The principles all Hindus can agree upon are: the Vedas are a very important scripture, karma is real, reincarnation is real, and all perspectives are welcome and ultimately better the religion (Darity, Jr. 477; Hinduism 4). Of the few core values that all Hindus share, tolerance is among the most important. You cannot discredit one s religious preference or beliefs and still be considered Hindu. Almost every other principle and belief is ambiguous and not wholly agreed upon. This means that even people with conflicting beliefs are accepted as Hindus as long as they believe in karma, reincarnation and the Vedas, and their differences strengthen the religion.
