This document summarizes a project to stabilize an existing storm sewer outfall in Fairfax County, Virginia. The project included constructing a rip-rap lined channel and two check dams to reduce flow velocity and stop erosion at the outfall. Work included excavating the site, placing geotextile fabric and rip-rap lining, constructing two check dams, restoring vegetation, and addressing pre-existing erosion issues. The project was substantially completed in March 2015 to provide stability and enhance water quality at the outfall north of Nancemond Street.
