As part of our annual tradition, we're making available (for free) the latest edition of the The Cheat Sheet, the best darn gossip, rumor and blatant political innuendo your money can buy.
The document summarizes allegations of racism made against Republican members of the Indiana House of Representatives during debate over a bill related to school district boundaries. It describes an argument between Representatives Lucas and Summers in the hallway after the debate, in which Summers cursed at and followed Representative Eberhart. While Republicans should not have booed, calling individuals racist was unfounded, as neither Eberhart nor Lucas have histories of racist behavior. The document also briefly mentions potential candidates to replace the Secretary of State and candidates for Marion County chairman.
The document is a "Cheat Sheet" newsletter that provides gossip and rumors about Indiana politics. It discusses potential candidates for lieutenant governor, an education scandal impacting a candidate for superintendent, and plans to disrupt the state political conventions. It also notes rumors about primary challengers, political fights over funding and security contracts, and concerns about a nominee's background. The newsletter encourages subscribing for more regular political gossip at a low cost.
Former Marion County Deputy Prosecutor David Wyser is in talks with the FBI regarding a possible plea agreement in an investigation into whether campaign contributions were accepted in exchange for lenient plea deals. The FBI is trying to get Wyser to provide information about former Prosecutor Carl Brizzi. There is also grumbling about communication problems between Indiana Governor Mike Pence's administration and state political leaders. Indianapolis Democrats are trying to get City-County Councilwoman Christine Scales to switch from Republican to Democrat or Independent in light of her split with Mayor Greg Ballard over Bill SB 621.
Here's a complimentary copy of our most recent edition. It's got the latest on the U.S. Senate race, Congressional races, and a new controversy may be brewing over at the BMV. If you like, subscribe.
This document is the December 29, 2014 issue of "The Cheat Sheet", a newsletter published by the Antelope Club in Indianapolis. It lists and briefly summarizes the top 10 news stories of 2014 in Indiana, including Governor Pence's chief of staff resigning, the high murder rate in Indianapolis, the state treasurer's race, former Superintendent Tony Bennett remaining in the news, a legislator exiting due to ethics issues, conflicts between the State Board of Education and Superintendent Glenda Ritz, an Indianan's execution by ISIS impacting the state, large Republican gains in the 2014 elections, and Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard deciding not to seek a third term.
This issue of The Cheat Sheet discusses several Indiana political stories: John Gregg may run for governor in 2016 but has not communicated with the Democratic chairman; Richard Mourdock may run for auditor; there may be another bill proposed to alter straight ticket voting in Marion County; Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold will make a announcement about a statewide office; the enforcement of Indianapolis's smoking ban is facing legal issues; and Joe Hogsett may not run for Mayor of Indianapolis.
The document discusses several topics in Indiana politics, including speculation that Governor Eric Holcomb may not seek re-election and may instead be offered a position as U.S. Ambassador to Italy. It also discusses the split among Indiana House Democrats over whether to pursue impeachment against Attorney General Curtis Hill and analyzes voter turnout data suggesting that lack of turnout among Democratic voters contributed to Joe Donnelly's Senate loss. Additionally, it provides various notes on other races and political figures around the state.

Anti-Catholic Chatter
There are very few things we here at
TCS have no patience for; one of them
is bigotry and prejudice, whether it is
race, sex, gender, religion or sexual
orientation. Now granted, we are the
biggest fan of Blazing Saddles, but
there's a big difference between
humor that makes fun of all of us and
points out our flaws and shortcomings
than being a D.C. Stephenson wanna-
be.
What are we talking about?
Apparently, a whisper/smear
campaign is being spread among state
GOP convention delegates that if they
nominate Jule McGuire as Mike
Braun's Lt. Governor candidate, then
there would be two Catholics running
state government.
We’ll let that sit for a few minutes.
Yes, a word being spread among
convention delegates that because
Braun and McGuire are Catholic, they
would be bad for Indiana. Give me a
f****** break!!! Is this 2024 or 1924?

This isn't the first time we've heard
about racism and bigotry this election
cycle. You might recall we wrote about
CD 5 candidate Raju Chinthala, who
was called a "f******* Indian" at an
event in the district.
We understand that as America (that
includes Indiana) is changing
demographically, some folks
genuinely fear change because the
world today isn't the one they grew up
in. We can have a longer chat about
our romanticized view of "the good old
days." But regardless, there is no
room for outright hate and bigotry in
21st-century Indiana.
Okay, we’re off our soap box now.
Forever Young
Although U.S. Senator Todd Young
isn't up for re-election until 2026, word
is circulating that he may be a target
for some of the more ideological
conservatives in the Republican Party.
TCS hears that Indiana and national
conservatives are looking to coalesce
around a strong candidate to take
Young out of office due to what they
say is "his increasingly liberal voting
record and refusal to support Trump."
We had no idea that being thoughtful
and reasonable was a bad thing.
South Bend Tribune Columnist Jack
Colwell pointed out the following back
in 2022…
“Young has traditional conservative
credentials, with 100 percent ratings
from some conservative evaluators.
Heritage Action gives Young a

conservative grade of 96 percent for
2020-21 Senate votes. Lindsey Graham,
Trump’s golfing buddy, got 84
percent.”
We do know they are not looking at
former Attorney General Curtis Hill,
who, by the way, we're told is being
encouraged to run by the guy who
came in fourth place to CD 7
Republican nominee Jennifer Pace,
who died but could not be taken off the
ballot.
Oh, that Marion County
The nuts are at it again in Marion
County. Which ones? (Rimshot!!!)
Apparently, the political malcontents
are hosting training for Precinct
Committeemen on Saturday. We got a
copy of the email from Marion County
GOP headquarters about the non-
sponsored event.
I have been asked by some of you about
a P.C. training that is being held this
weekend. Please be advised that this is
NOT a headquarter sponsored event. It
is being put on by a group of people
that have not been asked to do so and
are not qualified to put on such an
event. Headquarters will be holding
trainings this summer for each township
and those are the ones you want to
attend. Also do not complete or sign any
forms requesting to be a P.C. or VPC.
These forms will be provided at the H.Q.
sponsored training events as well.
Again, please do not attend the training
on Saturday. Please plan on attending

the H.Q. sponsored trainings this
summer.
The fun in Marion County just never
stops.
A Few Other Items Worth
Mentioning
Contract lobbyist Tony Samuel,
whom we've known for years, may
have somewhat stepped in with his
public support of Lt. Governor
candidate Micah Beckwith. TCS is
told there are a lot of state lawmakers
who are good friends and really like
Julie McGuire, who are not happy with
that support, so life could get
somewhat tricky for Samuel next year,
especially under a potential
Braun/McGuire administration.
In CD 3, the fallout continues over
Club For Growth's "seemingly illegal
use of A.I. and other unethical
approaches" in its attack ads, which
saved Marlin Stutzman. We're told
many people are unimpressed with
Stutzman's refusal to denounce the
misleading ads to win.

And speaking of “Honest” Gabe
Whitley, we filed a defamation suit
against him in Marion County Court.
Yes, he’s said some not-so-nice things
about yours truly, but when he called
us a child rapist online and also posted
that I “lied” during a deposition, it was
time to bring down the hammer once
and for all.
Look for local attorney Paul Mullin
(and our former law partner) to begin
having a more prominent role
politically, both locally and nationally,
due to his close friendship with Jim
Banks. And David Keller, Banks' Chief
of staff and a former Indiana resident,
is reportedly becoming a power
player in D.C. due to his help with
Banks' quick assent in national politics.
And we got to say a few words this
week at a retirement party for State
Rep. Jerry Torr (R-Carmel). We've
known Jerry since 2004 and were his
biggest supporter when it came to
bringing DST back to Indiana. Torr had
a reputation for doing the heavy lifting,
whether it was Right to Work or
government reform. We only wish he
could carried legislation to legalize
marijuana. 🙂
