      At Fairvale High School, the Visual Arts faculty
offer students the opportunity to select from five different
                          courses.

  These courses are designed to help cater for excellence
      in specific areas for years 9 & 10 and 11 & 12.

   Note you do not need to have previous art experience
            to select any of the art electives.

Visual Arts offers opportunities to develop your own interests, to
be self-motivated and active learners.
    Students experience the practice of art criticism, art
    history and artmaking such as: drawings, printmaking,
    digital media, collage, painting, computer generated
    artworks, ceramics, sculpture, film, installations,
    textile, designed images, jewellery, wearables.

 Within the Ceramics course you will develop your skills in
a range of handbuilding techniques, wheel work, slipcasting,
sculptural forms, kiln technology, mix media,and decorative
         surface treatment and glaze technology.

Visual Design plays a significant role in our world as
mostly everything around you has been designed by
design artists. Examples: car, clothes and fashion,
jewellery and accessories, bags, magazine layouts
       and cartoons, furniture.

The Photography & Film and Video course run
 under the Board of Studies course
 “Photography, Video and Digital Imaging”,
 therefore you are not allowed to select
 both of these subjects

In Film and Video you will learn to use a digital video and
photographic camera. you will be able to create your own
DVDs and Video. You will learn how to edit your footage and
add sound and special effects. Learn how to create a short
claymation movie. You will also experience behind the scene
techniques such as lighting, acting, film genres and styles,
writing storyboards, pre-production and post production
experiences, animation.

In this course you will learn to use an SLR camera
 and process your own film and develop black and
 white photographs in the darkroom. Take digital
       photographs, manipulate and create
    computer-generated images. Learn different
          photographic styles and genres.
