Definitions Subject- is who or what the sentence is about.  Nouns are often used as subjects. Example:  The Bible  is the Word of God.   Drew and I  will go to a parade. Simple Subject- see sentence number 1 Compound Subject- see sentence number 2
Definitions Predicate- is what is being said about the subject(s) in a sentence. The predicate starts with a verb. Example: Brenda  obey her parents . Simple Predicate- when the sentence has one verb  Example: Maria  cleaned  her house yesterday. Compound Predicate- when the sentence has more than one verb Example: Maria  cleaned  and  decorated  her house yesterday.
