This study is an attempt to understand the population characteristics such as Length-weight relationships, age, growth, mortality, length at age and exploitation rate of Frigate tuna, Auxis thazard occurring in the North west coast of India. The data collected from various fish landing centers from 2008 to 2012 were considered for this study. The mean fork length and weight 32.35 cm and 1.040 kg were observed respectively. The length-weight relationship W=2.4321x10-1 FL 2.27658, and r2 0.9576 was obtained. The value of ‘b’ found to be less than 3 and hence this species is showing negative allometric growth. The growth parameters on von Bertalanffy for L∞ estimated as 47.03, K was 1.30 and to was -0.23. The Phi-prime value (⏀) of 3.33 was derived. The length at age observed at the end of 1 to 4 years was 27.0, 42.0, 50.0 and 55.0 cm year-1 respectively. The natural mortality (M) 1.00 year-1, total mortality (Z) of 4.43 year-1 and fishing mortality (F) 3.43 year-1 were derived with the mean temperature of 27°C. The exploitation ratio(E) and exploitation rate(U) was 0.77. The spatial distribution was based on the Bray-Curtis index which divided the distribution of demersal fish resources into three clusters. Inshore sites of Kalimantan’s western waters (KLBR) was dominated by Leognathidae, inshore sites of the eastern of Riau Islands waters (KPRI) was dominated by Lutjanidae, and offshore sites of the southern of South China Sea (SSCS) was dominated by Nemipteridae. Offshore sites of the southern of South China Sea (SSCS) had a much better community stability level than that of inshore sites of Kalimantan’s western waters (KLBR) and inshore sites of the eastern of Riau Islands waters (KPRI). This study also demonstrated that environmental factors such as depth, sediment type, salinity, and temperature, affect the distribution and species diversity of demersal fish communities in the southern of South China Sea.
The Growth of Oreochromis niloticus (2.6g initial average size) was studied in 100m2 earthen ponds for 180 days under tropical field environment. Varying fertilizing regimes consisting of Pennisetum purpureum (PP) and Musa sapientum (MS), two locally available weedy grasses were applied in duplicates in the experimental ponds, at the rate of 0.1-0.2 kg dry matter per m2 per day. Water quality parameters were monitored bimonthly between 8:00am-9:00am . Final average fish weight varied significantly (p<0.05) as follows: 43.85g, 35.5g, 59.5g, 24.9g and 50g, 2 respectively for PP, MS, MS+PP, T0 and T1. Corresponding daily growth were 2.2g/d, 0.1g/d, 0.3g/d, 0.1g/d and 0.2g/d. Survival rate equally varied significantly as follow: 60 %, 67 %, and 98 %, 70 % and 97 % respectively. During the study period, the results indicated the water quality were permissibole limits and can be used for livestock of Oreochromis niloticus .

A possible MLS restriction was proposed for common dab (Limanda limanda) by determining age at length, and estimating growth parameters and length at first maturity. Individuals were collected in the Northumberland coastal waters, within the Northumberland Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (NIFCA) area of jurisdiction (<6 nm offshore) by using three different fishing gears including demersal otter trawl, beam trawl and trammel nets. Otoliths were extracted for age determination and growth was described by applying the standard form of the von Bertalanffy growth equation to the mean lengths at age.
ABSTRACT- Lizardfishes are commercially important group of species contributing to the fishery in the Indian EEZ. Information on predation, prey-predator relationship and their assessments in respect of Saurida tumbil and Saurida undosquamis have been derived in this study. A total number of 1630 specimens of S. tumbil and 926 of S. undosquamis were used for stomach content analysis. The specimens of S. tumbil examined in the study ranged between 13.0-53.0 cm (TL) and of S. undosquamis 13.0-41.0 cm. Qualitative and quantitative analysis revealed that the species S. tumbil prefers food in order of abundance as a teleost fishes (41%), molluscs (9.16%), shrimps (3.64%), crabs (1.41%) and squilla (0.37%) and S. undosquamis prefers teleost fishes (49%), molluscs (11%) and shrimps (3%). In S. tumbil, the highest feeding intensity observed in July (50%) and in S. undosquamis, in October (41%) and the lowest intensity recorded in the month of June for both the species. Monthly Gonado Somatic Index (GSI) shown that the highest feeding was observed in January (10.55%) and July (10.76%) for S. tumbil whereas, in case of S. undosquamis, the GSI was highest in August (16.58% for males and 17.80% for females). The pieces of sand granules, detritus and benthic organisms in the stomachs of the species indicating the benthic nature at the sea bottom in the search of food. Occurrence of juvenile lizardfishes in gut contents of both the species indicates that the lizardfishes are cannibalistic in nature.

Evaluation of the oyster farming potential of the Cintra bay (southern Morocco)Origins publication
The bay of Cintra is a marine ecosystem located in the southern Moroccan Atlantic known for its
biological richness and therefore for its high fishery productivity. This bay was chosen as a new destination for the
development of aquaculture in the southern regions of Morocco. To highlight its potential in terms of oyster
farming, a first rearing trial of triploid cupped oysters (Crassostrea gigas) as well as parallel monitoring of the
phytoplankton population and ecological parameters were undertaken. The results obtained showed that the oysters
adapt well to the conditions of the new environment where mortality was negligible, or even absent after a month
of launching. In terms of biological performance, the growth of individuals is continuous during the annual cycle
and after eight months the weight could reach 30.5 g which is a minimum weight for marketing. The AFNOR and
Lawrence and Scott indices showed a good physiological state and a better commercial quality of the oysters. The
filling rate of these oysters, with an average weight of 39.7g when lifting, is very high according to the Lawrence and
Scott index (126.3) and the average AFNOR index (around 21.8) rank them in the “Special” category.

Blood cockle (Anadara granosa) is the one commodity that has driven the economy of coastal communities in Sub-District of Central Kupang, West Timor, Indonesia. Uncontrolled fishing activities have led to over-fishing of blood cockle, which have degraded its conservation and livelihood of coastal communities. Conservation efforts should be done to conserve blood cockle resources and improve the income of fishermen. Potential management strategies for conservation are through development of blood cockle aquaculture business. This study aims were determine the type of strategy and formulate alternative strategies to blood cockle aquaculture development for conservation and welfare. This study has applied survey method with population are the blood cockle fishermen community. Data collection was done by observations, deep interviews and focus group discussions (FGD), while data analysis has been used SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. Population Dynamics of the Annular Seabream Diplodus annularis (Linnaeus, 197...Premier Publishers
Age, growth, length-weight relationship (LWR), condition factor (K) and relative condition factor (Kn) were investigated for the annular seabream Diplodus annularis collected from non-commercial catches around the Maltese Islands between July 2012 and December 2017 (N=1661). The age distribution of the specimens was found to range between 0+ and 17+ years with a positive allometric growth. Average Kn was found to be 1.03 in males and 0.99 in females. The growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were: L∞=21.38, K=0.123year-1 and tₒ = -5.40year for all individuals (males, females, hermaphrodites and unsexed). This study is the first reference for D. annularis on the length weight equation parameters, condition factor, relative condition factor and age around the Maltese Islands and establishes a new maximum of 17 years.

The Cushing's triangle on fish migration explains various life cycle activities from recruitment to fishing as governed by physical oceanographic processes. The role of currents in a closed area such as Gulf of Kachchh (GoK) and geological structures such as mounts in an open area such as Mangalore coast is explored to see the role of fish aggregation creating fishing and nursery grounds. Numerical and particle transport models was used for generating hydrodynamics and further for identifying areas of fish aggregation. Validations of the models were done with insitu observations. Likelihood retention areas of larval aggregations indicated formation of nursery grounds. <br />Oceanographic processes such as fronts, eddies, meanders, rings etc and primary productivity linked to them are keys to identification of Potential Fishing Zones (PFZ). Altimeter satellite remote sensing data could identify mesoscale features (Eddies). Such data products can supplement the SST-Ocean color based PFZ and provide information in cloudy conditions too. Data collected from 454 commercial fishing trips in the Andaman Sea along with maps of sea level anomaly and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) global level 3 mapped thermal IR daytime sea surface temperature (SST) from Aqua and Terra satellite were used for the study. <br />Productive habitats and their vulnerability can also be assessed using the satellite data based oceanographic processes. The paper looks into the various case studies carried out in tropical marine conditions.
Fishery Assessment of Mullets (Actinopterygii: Mugilidae) in PakistanPremier Publishers
To estimate the MSY (maximum sustainable yield) from yearly catch and effort data of mullets to appraise the stock of the fishery in Pakistan. The fifteen years (1995-2009) catch and effort data of mullets’ fishery were taken from the handbook of MFD (marine fisheries department) Fisheries Statistics of Pakistan. ASPIC and CEDA, two software packages were used based on surplus production models. The IP (initial proportion) was used 0.9 because the starting catch was 90% of the maximum catch for CEDA with three surplus production models Fox, Schaeder and Pella-Tomlinson. The MSY calculated from Fox with normal, lognormal and gamma (error assumptions) were 5450 (R2 =0.784), 6885 (R2 =0.824), 6372 (R2 =0.804) respectively, while the values from Schaefer and Pella-Tomlinson with normal, lognormal and gamma were 5562 (R2 =0.772), 7349 (R2 =0.810) and gamma were 6850 (R2 =0.791). From ASPIC package, MSY calculated from Fox and logistic models were 7247 (R2 =0.838) and 18840 (R2 =0.867) respectively. The current calculated MSY values from surplus production models were lower than yearly catch, which indicate that the mullets’ fishery stock in Pakistan is overfished. So we may recommend the managers of the fishery to reduce the fishing efforts to sustain the stock in Pakistan for future.
Synergistic application of oceanographic variables from multi-satellite based PFZ advisory - acceptance levels and benefits derived by the user community Credit Seminar Jitendra
Population structure, fecundity and morphological characteristics of M. vollenhovenii were studied around Lower Volta River, Ghana subject to dirt of information on this prawn species around the study location. The most prominent morphological characteristics already documented for identification of this species was rostrum bearing 13-15 continuous teeth dorsally and 4-5 teeth on its ventral part. These morphological traits formed the principal components for identification in this study. Results showed that morphological traits on second pereiopods such as presence of spines, spinules, teeth borne within the fingers, and dense projections of setae-like features on telson and uropod were observed relevant for identification purposes. Other results revealed that maximum total length recorded in this study (150-155mm) was higher than total length ranges (≤125mm) documented for this species in earlier studies. Consequently, two adult’s classes of prawns were identified (old adult class 81-120mm; and young adults 31-80mm) and older class was observed to be more in catches than the younger prawns. Absolute fecundity revealed that oocytes estimation varied with respect to seasons, ages of prawns and body sizes of specimens examined. In conclusion, this study observed that M. vollenhovenii fishery is operating in a sustainable manner at the time of this study around the study location.
Phytogeographic analysis and diversity of grasses and sedgesShujaul Mulk Khan
The monocot order Poales is one of the largest (ca. 20,000 species), and economically and ecologically most important group of flowering plants. Exploring this important component of the biodiversity is of paramount significance in conservation of species and developing climate change models. Northern Pakistan occupies a unique biogeographic position at the summit of the planet’s three highest mountain ranges i.e.Himalaya, Hindukush and Karakurum.These ranges contain the hot spots of floral and faunal diversity with high proportions of endemic and rare species.The studies revealed 117 species belonging to 30 genera in three families of the order Poales. Juncaceae is represented by single genus Juncuswith four species, Cyperaceae by 5 genera and 27 species, and Poaceae being the dominant family with 25 genera and 86 species. Carexand Poaare the largest genera having 21 and 16 species respectively. Phytogeographic analysis of the Poalesof temperate and alpine regions of Northern Pakistan shows twelve different phytogeographic elements. The highest percentage of species (30%) belongs to the western Himalayan floristic region (near endemics), with cosmopolitan elements (19%), Central Asian elements (17%) and Eurasian elements (12%) being the other significant elements. The proportion of Endemic species (8%) is less apparent, while the rest of the seven categories are poorly represented. The Two Way Cluster Analysis (TWCA) divided the sixteen districts into two major groups, and four subgroups based on environmental gradients of altitude, latitude and longitude. TWCA classified the data matrix including 114 species into seven clusters based on presence/absence data and elevation from mean sea level. Species in each cluster can be attributed to similar habitat conditions and altitudinal ranges. Hence it is clear that climatic characters associated with each category control the species distribution pattern.

Length-weight models and condition factors of fishes from Okpara Stream, Ouem...AI Publications
Length frequency distributions, length-weight models and condition factors of 21 dominant fish species of the Okpara stream (Oueme River) were examined in Northern-Benin in order to evaluate the well-being of these fish taxa. Samplings were made monthly from December 2015 to May 2017 with seines, gill nets hawks and a total of 9,302 individuals were collected. Fish abundance ranged from 53 individuals for Mormyrus rume to 2,818 for Hemichromis fasciatus. Standard length (SL) varied from 1.2 cm (Coptodon guineensis) to 51.8 cm (Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus). Length-weight regressions equations showed significant (p < 0.05) correlation coefficients (r) ranging between 0.4664 and 0.9949 with slopes (b) between 2.2262 and 3.7703 corresponding to isometric, positive allometric and negative allometric growths displayed by 4, 8 and 9 species, respectively. Condition factors K varied between 0.17 - 29.38 and species with higher well-being were Oreochromis niloticus with K=29.38, Hyperopisius bebe (K=20.14), Coptodon zillii (K=19.25), Mormyrus rume (K=17.13) and Sarotherodon galilaeus multifasciatus (K=16.16). A sustainable exploitation of these fishes requires an ecosystem restoration scheme including habitat protection, species conservation and an ecological follow-up of the Okpara stream.

Mangroves are one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world, providing shelter and feeding sites for many animal species. With continuing degradation and destruction of mangroves, there is a critical need to understand the biodiversity of the mangrove ecosystems. Birds are bio-indicators of habitat quality and are sensitive to any subtle changes takes place in the habitat. Monitoring of species diversity is a useful technique for assessing damage to the system and maintenance of good species diversity is a positive management objective. A total of 56 species of birds representing 11 orders, 29 families and 46 genera were recorded from the mangroves of Uran coast. Of the recorded species, 33.93 % belonged to Order Passeriformes, 26.79 % to Ciconiiformes, 8.93 % to Charadriiformes, 7.14 % to Anseriformes, 5.36 % each to Coraciiformes and Falconiformes, 3.57 % each to Columbiformes and Gruiformes and 1.79 % each to Cuculiformes, Pelecaniformes and Psittaciformes. Avifauna of the order Passeriformes is dominant in Uran mangroves and is represented
by 11 families, followed by order Ciconiiformes with 5 families. The species diversity comprises 33 residents, 20 winter
visitors and 3 occasional visitors. At present, ecological conditions in mangroves of Uran supports moderate density of birds but due to intense industrialization and urbanization, pollution of Uran coast cannot be ignored. Therefore, data presented in this paper can be taken as a base line data.

Data collected from 454 commercial fishing trips in the Andaman Sea along with maps of sea level anomaly and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) global level 3 mapped thermal IR daytime sea surface temperature (SST) from Aqua and Terra satellite were used for the study. <br />Productive habitats and their vulnerability can also be assessed using the satellite data based oceanographic processes. The paper looks into the various case studies carried out in tropical marine conditions.
Fishery Assessment of Mullets (Actinopterygii: Mugilidae) in PakistanPremier Publishers
To estimate the MSY (maximum sustainable yield) from yearly catch and effort data of mullets to appraise the stock of the fishery in Pakistan. The fifteen years (1995-2009) catch and effort data of mullets’ fishery were taken from the handbook of MFD (marine fisheries department) Fisheries Statistics of Pakistan. ASPIC and CEDA, two software packages were used based on surplus production models. The IP (initial proportion) was used 0.9 because the starting catch was 90% of the maximum catch for CEDA with three surplus production models Fox, Schaeder and Pella-Tomlinson. The MSY calculated from Fox with normal, lognormal and gamma (error assumptions) were 5450 (R2 =0.784), 6885 (R2 =0.824), 6372 (R2 =0.804) respectively, while the values from Schaefer and Pella-Tomlinson with normal, lognormal and gamma were 5562 (R2 =0.772), 7349 (R2 =0.810) and gamma were 6850 (R2 =0.791). From ASPIC package, MSY calculated from Fox and logistic models were 7247 (R2 =0.838) and 18840 (R2 =0.867) respectively. The current calculated MSY values from surplus production models were lower than yearly catch, which indicate that the mullets’ fishery stock in Pakistan is overfished. So we may recommend the managers of the fishery to reduce the fishing efforts to sustain the stock in Pakistan for future.

Population structure, fecundity and morphological characteristics of M. vollenhovenii were studied around Lower Volta River, Ghana subject to dirt of information on this prawn species around the study location. The most prominent morphological characteristics already documented for identification of this species was rostrum bearing 13-15 continuous teeth dorsally and 4-5 teeth on its ventral part. These morphological traits formed the principal components for identification in this study. Results showed that morphological traits on second pereiopods such as presence of spines, spinules, teeth borne within the fingers, and dense projections of setae-like features on telson and uropod were observed relevant for identification purposes. Other results revealed that maximum total length recorded in this study (150-155mm) was higher than total length ranges (≤125mm) documented for this species in earlier studies. Consequently, two adult’s classes of prawns were identified (old adult class 81-120mm; and young adults 31-80mm) and older class was observed to be more in catches than the younger prawns. Absolute fecundity revealed that oocytes estimation varied with respect to seasons, ages of prawns and body sizes of specimens examined. In conclusion, this study observed that M. vollenhovenii fishery is operating in a sustainable manner at the time of this study around the study location.

The monocot order Poales is one of the largest (ca. 20,000 species), and economically and ecologically most important group of flowering plants. Exploring this important component of the biodiversity is of paramount significance in conservation of species and developing climate change models. Northern Pakistan occupies a unique biogeographic position at the summit of the planet’s three highest mountain ranges i.e.Himalaya, Hindukush and Karakurum.These ranges contain the hot spots of floral and faunal diversity with high proportions of endemic and rare species.The studies revealed 117 species belonging to 30 genera in three families of the order Poales. Juncaceae is represented by single genus Juncuswith four species, Cyperaceae by 5 genera and 27 species, and Poaceae being the dominant family with 25 genera and 86 species. Carexand Poaare the largest genera having 21 and 16 species respectively. Phytogeographic analysis of the Poalesof temperate and alpine regions of Northern Pakistan shows twelve different phytogeographic elements. The highest percentage of species (30%) belongs to the western Himalayan floristic region (near endemics), with cosmopolitan elements (19%), Central Asian elements (17%) and Eurasian elements (12%) being the other significant elements. The proportion of Endemic species (8%) is less apparent, while the rest of the seven categories are poorly represented. The Two Way Cluster Analysis (TWCA) divided the sixteen districts into two major groups, and four subgroups based on environmental gradients of altitude, latitude and longitude. TWCA classified the data matrix including 114 species into seven clusters based on presence/absence data and elevation from mean sea level. Species in each cluster can be attributed to similar habitat conditions and altitudinal ranges. Hence it is clear that climatic characters associated with each category control the species distribution pattern.

Length-weight models and condition factors of fishes from Okpara Stream, Ouem...AI Publications
Length frequency distributions, length-weight models and condition factors of 21 dominant fish species of the Okpara stream (Oueme River) were examined in Northern-Benin in order to evaluate the well-being of these fish taxa. Samplings were made monthly from December 2015 to May 2017 with seines, gill nets hawks and a total of 9,302 individuals were collected. Fish abundance ranged from 53 individuals for Mormyrus rume to 2,818 for Hemichromis fasciatus. Standard length (SL) varied from 1.2 cm (Coptodon guineensis) to 51.8 cm (Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus). Length-weight regressions equations showed significant (p < 0.05) correlation coefficients (r) ranging between 0.4664 and 0.9949 with slopes (b) between 2.2262 and 3.7703 corresponding to isometric, positive allometric and negative allometric growths displayed by 4, 8 and 9 species, respectively. Condition factors K varied between 0.17 - 29.38 and species with higher well-being were Oreochromis niloticus with K=29.38, Hyperopisius bebe (K=20.14), Coptodon zillii (K=19.25), Mormyrus rume (K=17.13) and Sarotherodon galilaeus multifasciatus (K=16.16). A sustainable exploitation of these fishes requires an ecosystem restoration scheme including habitat protection, species conservation and an ecological follow-up of the Okpara stream.

Mangroves are one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world, providing shelter and feeding sites for many animal species. With continuing degradation and destruction of mangroves, there is a critical need to understand the biodiversity of the mangrove ecosystems. Birds are bio-indicators of habitat quality and are sensitive to any subtle changes takes place in the habitat. Monitoring of species diversity is a useful technique for assessing damage to the system and maintenance of good species diversity is a positive management objective. A total of 56 species of birds representing 11 orders, 29 families and 46 genera were recorded from the mangroves of Uran coast. Of the recorded species, 33.93 % belonged to Order Passeriformes, 26.79 % to Ciconiiformes, 8.93 % to Charadriiformes, 7.14 % to Anseriformes, 5.36 % each to Coraciiformes and Falconiformes, 3.57 % each to Columbiformes and Gruiformes and 1.79 % each to Cuculiformes, Pelecaniformes and Psittaciformes. Avifauna of the order Passeriformes is dominant in Uran mangroves and is represented
by 11 families, followed by order Ciconiiformes with 5 families. The species diversity comprises 33 residents, 20 winter
visitors and 3 occasional visitors. At present, ecological conditions in mangroves of Uran supports moderate density of birds but due to intense industrialization and urbanization, pollution of Uran coast cannot be ignored. Therefore, data presented in this paper can be taken as a base line data.

Coconut crab (Birgus latro) has ecological and economical value that only found in the islands which influenced by the Pacific and Indian Ocean currents, including Liwo Island. The research was done to describe a resource management of coconut crab (Birgus latro) in Liwo island according to the distribution and biological analysis of coconut crab. Data sampling was conducted in February-September 2013, data collection consisted of littoral rainforest vegetation, microhabitat and biological condition of coconut crab (thoracic length, weight, sex and gonad maturity). The result showed that Liwo Island microhabitat condition support the presence of coconut crab. Species diversity of littoral forest vegetation was low. Vegetation was dominated by Calophyllum inophyllum, Erythrina variegata, Areca catechu, Maga (Magnoliopsida) and Pandanus tectorius. Coconut crab population size was 1153 crabs with population density 5 crabs/Ha. The range of thorax length 3-66.09 mm with average of thorax length 23.46 mm. Growth pattern was included in allometric minor. This population was dominated by adult coconut crab with developing reproduction organ followed by functionally mature reproduction organ. A smaller catchable amount of coconut crab indicated that the resource management sustainability was needed to regulate catchable amount and size that involved of local community and relevant institutions.

Nemipterus japonicus (Japanese threadfin bream) is one of the most significant fish species throughout the Indo-Pacific regions. No previous studies on the population dynamics of N. japonicus have been carried out in the Eastern Malaysia (Malaysian Borneo). The present study focused on the population dynamics of N. japonicus from April 2013 to March 2014 in the coastal area of Bintulu, South China Sea. Local fishermen provided samples, which were then analysed. The FiSAT II software was used to evaluate the collected length frequency data. The asymptotic length (L ∞) and growth coefficient (K) were 26.78 cm and 0.85 yr-1, respectively. The growth performance index (ϕ'), total mortality coefficient (Z), natural mortality (M) and fishing mortality (F) were 2.785, 2.97, 1.63 and 1.34 per year, respectively. According to the estimates, the exploitation rate (E) for N. japonicus was 0.45, while the E 0.1 , E 0.5 and E max were determined as 0.72, 0.4 and 0.806, respectively. The obtained value of exploitation was less than E max, although slightly higher than E 0.5. The recruitment characteristics of N. japonicus have been stable throughout the year, with one peak pulse. The results contribute to the knowledge of the dynamics of N. japonicus populations and are important for the sustainable management of the Sarawak fishing resources.

The present study deals with ichthyofaunal diversity of Chandrasarovar pond of Jhalawar, Rajasthan. Total 23 species from 6 orders, 10 families and 19 genera were recorded during the present study. The range of water parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen alkalinity and hardness were recorded and found suitable for fish production. Dominant family Cyprinidae with 12 species and 08 genera followed by Bagridae with 03 species 02 genera and other all families Claridea, Heteropneustidae, Cichilidae, Channidae, Gobiidae, Belonidae, Mastacembelidae, Poecilidae and Anguilidae contributed single species with single genera. Regarding conservation status out of 23 fish species 21 species least concern and 2 species near threaten. During month of December post monsoon highest fish diversity was found. Seasonal diversity indices such as Shannon Wiener species diversity, Pielou’s evenness, Margalef’s species richness, were calculated based on the abundance of fish species to access the ecosystem health of Chandrasarovar pond of Jhalawar. Fisheries management and conservation studies require the quantitative descriptions of general well-being for the commercially important fishes. Pomfrets are one of commercially important species in the Bay of Bengal and studies on general well-being are still unavailable. The present study was conducted to know the general contentment of two commercially pomfret species Pampus argenteus and Parastromateus niger by studying the length-weight relationship (LWR), condition factor (K), relative condition factor (Kn), gonadosomatic index (GSI) and hepatosomatic index (HSI) throughout the year. The LWR of P. argenteus and P. niger showed a negative allometric growth pattern in both sexes. The K was found to vary throughout the year for P. argenteus and P. niger but no significant differences were observed between months. The Kn was highest in rainy and summer season in P. argenteus and P. niger respectively. The highest GSI was observed in May and March for P. argenteus and P. niger respectively with concomitant increase of HSI value. The second minor peak in GSI was also observed in October indicating a probability of the second phase of spawning. This preliminary information will assist in the successful conservation and management measures of pomfrets in the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh.
Population dynamics of 15 fish species in Grand-Lahou lagoon (West Africa, Cô...Open Access Research Paper
This study described growth, mortality, recruitment patterns and exploitation rates of 15 fish species in Grand-Lahou lagoon (Côte d’Ivoire). Monthly length-frequency data collected from artisanal fisheries from November 2013 to October 2014 were analyzed with FiSAT software using the ELEFAN package to estimate the population parameters of fishes. Asymptotic values for total length (L∞) ranged from 15.75 cm for Synodontis schall to 59.80 cm for Trachinotus teraia. Growth rate (k) varied from 0.19 for Coptodon guineensis to 0.98 for Caranx hippos. The growth performance index estimates were close to the values found by other authors for most of the fish species. The total mortality (Z) high values were recorded for Synodontis schall (Z= 4.15 year-1; M = 2.50 year-1) Schilbe mandibularis (Z= 2.19 year-1; M=1.33 year-1). Fishing mortality (F) and exploitation rate (E) were found to be less than the optimum levels of exploitation for most fish species. The exploitation rate (E) was higher than the maximum sustainable yield (Emax) for Caranx hippos and higher than E0.5 for Eucinostomus melanopterus, Elops lacerta and Synodontis schall. Recruitment was noted as year-round and bimodal for most studied populations. These results demonstrate that some fish stocks necessitate effective management measures particularly C. hippos, E. melanopterus, E. lacerta and S. schall.
Irian Arwana Fish is one type of potential ornamental fish that has high economic
value. Some rivers in Merauke Regency are categorized as arwana fish production
centers, one of which is Wanggo River. The high market demand for Irian Arwana
fish encourages local people to make arrests continuously. The purpose of the study
was to determine the value of MSY and Fopt and determine the stock status of Irian
Arwana Fish on the Wanggo River. The study was conducted for 2 months with data
analysis including CPUE, MSY and Fopt. The results showed that the sustainable
potential value (MSY) of Irian Arwana fish in Wanggo River was 521,358 with Fopt
5000 trip. Stock of Irian Arwana Fish is classified as under fishing because the
number of catches and catching efforts have not passed the total MSY and Fopt, so
that fishing efforts can still continue, while maintaining the specified MSY and Fopt
limits.
Bio-economic analysis of ESBN fishery of Kumira, the coastal area of Chittago...AbdullaAlAsif1
The present investigation was conducted from May to December 2005 at Kumira, the representative area of Chittagong coast for bio-socioeconomic analysis of ESBN fishery. In catch composition of Kumira, it was observed that finfish occupied 77.03 %, shrimp 19.82 % and crab 3.15 % and the average catch per boat per day were found 16.6 kg in Kumira. The highest total catch per boat per day (50 kg) was found in October at Kumira. The lowest catch was found (2 kg) in August at Kumira. The average total catch per landing center per month was found 14805 kg at Kumira. The average catch per fishermen per day was found 3.39 kg at Kumira and the average cost per boat per month was about 7,813 Tk in the study area. Average sale per month was found over 18,713 Tk in Kumira. During the month July and August most of the fishermen were engaged in Hilsa fishing with the Hilsa gill net resulting the total catch was with ESBN lowest in those months.

The overfishing is the central problem of the Mugil cephalus fisheries in the estuary of the Senegal River. This species lives in the sea during its adult stage but returns in the Senegal River to reproduce and to spend its larval and juvenile stages. This study is aimed to pinpoint the state of exploitation dynamic and to assess the M. cephalus stock. The FISAT II software was used to perform the estimate of recruitment, mortality and exploitation rates. Meanwhile, a virtual population analysis using VIT4 software estimated yield per recruit (Y/R). The analysis yielded exploitation rates E of 0.44 and 0.23 respectively for adult fish and juveniles; therefore the adult stock is overfished during the M. cephalus life stage in sea. In addition, natural mortality (M=1.20 year-1) and total mortality (Z=1.5 year-1) are remarkably high for fish mature age groups III, IV and V. However, in the river the maximum sustainable exploitation (0.50) is not exceeded for juveniles age groups 0+, I and II. In conclusion, management policies should be introduced to safeguard the M. cephalus fishery in the estuary of the Senegal River.
Oral Administration of Pulverized Wood Charcoal on Growth, Feed Utilization, ...ijtsrd
A 35 day feeding experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of pulverized wood charcoal PWC on the growth, feed utilization, survival and waste excretion of red tilapia Oreochromis sp. . Ninety red tilapias with an initial weight of 7.32 ± 1.31 g were acclimatized and randomly introduced into 9 aquaria in 3 groups with 10 fish per aquarium. Different levels of PWC 0 T0 , 1 T1 , and 2 T2 were incorporated in the diets of red tilapia for four weeks. After the experiment, average body weight ABW , specific growth rate SGR , relative growth rate RGR weight gain WG , feed conversion ratio FCR and survival rate SR of the experimental fish were computed. No significant differences were observed on feed utilization, survival, and waste excretion of the fish. Furthermore, ABW and WG of the experimental fish did not show any significant difference, however, significantly higher P 0.05 SGR and RGR were observed from T1 compared to the other treatments. Consequently, this study showed that supplementation of 1 PWC in the diet is the most suitable in improving the growth performance of red tilapia. Jaypee. S. India is rich in natural resources and the annual harvestable fishery potential of the country is estimated to be 3.48 million
tones. It is established that the fish biodiversity of the country is diminishing at an alarming rate in all the aquatic zones. The
data on species diversity of fishes from Uran coast revealed presence of 31 species of which 3 species of Chondricthyes
representing 2 genera and 2 families and 28 species of Osteicthyes representing 28 genera and 23 families were recorded. Of the recorded species, 55 % belonged to Order Perciformes, 10 % to Clupeiformes, 6 % each to Rajiformes, Mugiliformes and Anguilliformes, 3 % each to Aulopiformes, Carcharhiniformes, Pleuronectiformes, Siluriformes and Tetraodontiformes. Among the recorded species, ribbon fishes/spiny hair tail (Lepturacanthus savala), croakers (Johnius soldado), dhoma (Sciaena dussumierii) and gold spotted grenadier anchovy (Coilia dussumierii) are abundant where as Bleeker’s whipray (Himantura bleekeri), Sharp nose stingray (H. gerrardi) and Spotted Green Puffer fish (Tetraodon nigroviridis) were rare. Stripped mullet (Mugil cephalus), cat fish (Mystus seenghala), three stripped tiger fish (Terapon jarbua) and mudskippers (Boleophthalmus boddarti) were very common. At present, the yield of fin-fish resources from Uran coast is optimum; it is decreasing day by day due to coastal pollution affecting the status of the local fishermen because of which they are looking for other jobs for their livelihood.

Background: Cancer is a disease caused when cells divide uncontrollably and spread into the surrounding tissue. Changes to DNA cause cancer. It is one of the most common and largest killer diseases in the world. It usually affects physically, and the disease can alter one’s perspective on life and personality. Many treatment options are there to treat cancer. Among them, chemotherapy treatment may have more side effects like lethargy, esophagitis, nausea, vomiting, Fatigue, and insomnia, the most common problems among chemotherapy patients in India. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a sample size of 60, out of which 30 subjects were in the experimental group and 30 were in the control group. A convenient sampling method was used to select the subjects. A structured questionnaire tool was used to collect the data. Result: The result of the study showed that, during pre-test in the study group, among 30 subjects 3(10%) had moderate Fatigue, 22(73.33%) had severe Fatigue, 5(16.67%) had worst Fatigue and 12(40%) had moderate insomnia, 18(60%) had severe insomnia and in control group among 30 subjects, 6(20%) had moderate Fatigue, 13(43.33%) had severe Fatigue, 11(36.67%) had a worst fatigue, and 14(46.67%) had moderate insomnia, 16(53.33%) had severe insomnia. With post-test, in experimental group, 14(46.67%) had no fatigue, 16(53.33%) had mild fatigue, 14(46.67%) had no insomnia, 16(53.33%) had mild insomnia, and in control group, 6(20%) had moderate fatigue, 13(43.33%) had extreme fatigue, 11(36.67%) had worst fatigue, and 14(46.67%) had moderate insomnia, 16(53.33%) had severe insomnia. Conclusion: The study concluded that clients who were receiving chemotherapy had fatigue and insomnia problems. The Warm water foot bath therapy is very effective in clients undergoing chemotherapy in reducing Fatigue and insomnia. A positive correlation between pre-test and post-test was found by using the Mann-Whitney test.

consumption, including native alcoholic beverages, was recorded. To support the diagnosis, all standard and extra examination s
were carri ed out. The modified Kuppuswamy scale was used to determine s s ocioeconomic class.
Results: The study comprised 186 participants with a median age of 46. The gender ratio was 3:1, with 139 (74.7%) men. Urban
populations have a greater prevalence of alcohol ic liver disease (60.75%) than rural populations (39.24%). The l ower
s ocioeconomic c lass (50.53%) has the highest rate of alcoholic liver disease. Men drink more (>700 gm/wk) and married people
drink more. A woman who drinks 140 280 grams per week for 10 1 5 years is more likely to develop alcoholic liver disease than a
man who drinks >700 grams per week for 15 years.

Background: One of the most common disorders in this age group, abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), is the primary cause of most gynaecological problems in adolescents. Unfortunately, epidemiological data on AUB in teenagers is scarce, especially in the Indian subcontinent. The PALM-COEIN classification, where PALM stands for structural reasons and COEIN for functional causes, was employed in this single-center prospective observational study to evaluate the relative contributions of several etiological factors in AUB. To comprehend the etiological, dermographic, and therapeutic factors affecting menorrhagia in patients going through adolescence. Methods: Enrollment for females with AUB between 10 and 19 occurred between January and December 2022. A thorough history, physical examination, and laboratory evaluation, which in every case comprised standard testing, hormone analysis, and abdominal and pelvic ultrasonography were used to determine the cause of AUB. MRIs and CT scans were performed when needed. Results: There were 190 patients enrolled in total. Functional factors comprised the predominant aetiology of AUB among adolescent females: Adenomyosis=01 (0.52%), Polyp=1 (0.52%). Coagulopathy=2 (1.05%), Leomyoma=01 (0.52%), Malignancy=1 (0.52%), and PALM=4 (2.11%). COEIN=186 (97.89%), ovulation disorder=175 (92.15%), endometrial=01 (0.52%), iatrogenic=6 (3.15%), non-specified=2 (1.05%), and iatrogenic=6 (3.15%). Conclusion: The most frequent cause of AUB in the adolescent population is ovulatory abnormalities. Even though they are extremely rare, structural factors must be ruled out. A helpful technique for evaluating patients with AUB systematically is the PALM-COEIN classification.

Methods: The present study is pre-experimental among 60 adolescent girls, using a disproportional stratified random technique. One experimental group of clients was selected without randomization and no control group was used. The data was collected by using the structured close-ended knowledge questionnaire. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics regarding mean, frequency distribution, percentage, paired table t-test and chi-square test. Results: The overall findings reveal that the post-test knowledge mean score 26.24% with SD±5.94, which was 72% of the total score was more when compared to the pre-test knowledge mean score 12.98 with SD 5.94, which was 36.83% of total score. The calculated t-value of 24.91 was much higher than the table t-value 1.96 for the hypothesis. Conclusion: The study provides that VATP on knowledge regarding the preparation and use of moringa juice in managing anemia among adolescent girls was the scientific, logical and cost-effective strategy.

Background: Post-menopausal women experience many physical, emotional, and mental symptoms during the post-menopausal period, and reflexology has grown into a complex therapeutic modality and has a range of effects. Reflexology will help put hormones back into a normal state and act like a process of emotional cleansing, relieving stress and restoring harmony to the body and soul. Hence, foot reflexology seems to be effective in treating post-menopausal symptoms. Methods: In the present study, pre-experimental i.e. one group pretest-posttest design, was adopted. The study was conducted on 30 post-menopausal women to assess their knowledge regarding foot reflexology. Samples were selected by using a convenient sampling technique. Data was collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean percentage of the pre-test score was 28%, and the post-test score was 76.65%. The mean and the standard deviation of the pre-test score were 5.60±1.71, and the mean and the standard deviation of the post-test score were 15.33±1.15. The total mean and standard deviation are 9.73±2.07 by comparing the pre-test and post-test scores. Hence, it was found that there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores of post-menopausal women regarding foot reflexology. No significant association was found between post-test knowledge scores and socio-demographic variables on foot reflexology. Conclusion: The study concluded that a planned teaching program on knowledge regarding foot reflexology for post-menopausal women was a scientific, logical, and cost-effective strategy to reduce post-menopausal symptoms.

Background: A 51-year-old woman had left lower abdomen pain for 18 hours with nausea and vomiting. Prior CT scans suggested pelvic neoplasms. Our hospital's emergency CT showed an enlarged uterus with cystic shadows, right adnexal cysts, and stomach fluid. Physical examination revealed left lower abdomen discomfort. A gynaecological examination revealed a painful, firm pelvic mass of 151210 cm. Further diagnosis is underway. Method: The patient underwent emergency exploratory laparotomy, discovering a twisted, swollen left ovary with a 540° rotation, classified as a benign cyst. It was found that the patient had congenital upper vaginal atresia and bilateral initial uteri. Pain was reduced after surgery, thanks to symptomatic treatment. An abnormal karyotype of 46, XX,1qh+ was found during genetic testing. Result: Fallopian tubes, uterus, and vagina develop from the embryonic accessory mesonephric duct. MRKH syndrome is caused by bilateral accessory mesonephric duct dysplasia and disappearance of the uterus or vagina. MRKH has three types, with Type 1 lacking uterus or vagina. Due to ovarian cyst torsion, this Type 1 MRKH with double initial uterus and upper vaginal atresia needed left adnexa resection. Genetic testing showed a typical female karyotype. MRKH's complex aetiology incorporates chromosomal abnormalities, emphasizing early cytogenetic evaluation for personalized treatment and fertility assistance. Conclusion: Early cytogenetic testing for MRKH syndrome patients is crucial for determining the underlying cause and guiding personalized treatment plans to restore reproductive function and improve quality of life.

The cervical mucus of a fertilized egg screens out the best possible sperm. For infertility, Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) can be necessary. Test sperm that are DNA efficient, normal, and motile using Swim Up. Sperm could be damaged by reactive oxygen species that are produced during centrifugation. All infertility treatments should take these factors into account. Methods: The in vitro fertilization (ICSI) procedure was administered to fifty male patients who were 35 years old or younger and tested positive for normozoospermia, asthenozoospermia, and oligozoospermia. After obtaining informed consent, a Swim-Up was performed using both the full semen and a washed pellet. With sperm obtained from both methods, six Metaphase-2 stages of oocytes (MII oocytes) were implanted in each patient. A Tri-gas Bench-top incubator was used to put each injected oocyte in its 37°C setting. Results: The study showed that the age differences were insignificant (p=0.722), but significant variations emerged in sperm concentration before processing (p=1.030) and after (p=1.064). Sperm morphology differences were evident before processing (p=0.004) and after (p=0.002). No significant differences were noted in the number of Day 3 cleavage stage embryos. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is no significant difference between the two techniques regarding sperm washing efficiency.

Background: The third most common musculoskeletal symptom in orthopaedic clinical practice is a sore shoulder, which can cause significant morbidity. It has been reported that 7–27% of the general population has it, and 36–66% of overhead arm athletes have it. Pathophysiology includes functional, degenerative, and mechanical factors. Most shoulder pain is subacromial pain syndrome (SAPS), often known as ‘shoulder impingement syndrome’. Impingement hypothesis: shoulder joint structures mechanically clash. SAPS accounts for 36–48% of shoulder discomfort. Methods: This observational study was conducted in the Department of Orthopaedics, MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, among Eastern Indian outpatients. The study included adult patients (ages 18–75) of both sexes who presented to MKCG Medical College and Hospital's OPD with shoulder pain from December 2020 to November 2022 and were diagnosed with Shoulder Impingement Syndrome (SIS). Thorough histories and clinical exams were done. The Department of Radiology, MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, performed conventional shoulder MRIs on the selected participants. Results: Most cases and controls were Type-II (43.3%), followed by Type-I (28.3% and 30%, 29.2% of the total group). The study's least common acromial shape was type-IV, seen in 5% of cases and 10% of controls (7.5% of the sample). Fisher's exact test showed no significant connection between subacromial impingement and acromial shape (p=0.65). With a p-value of 0.045, cases had a significantly greater acromial width (8.12±2.16 mm) than controls (7.51±0.81 mm). Conclusion: Sub-acromial impingement was unrelated to acromion morphology. There was no correlation between acromial morphology and rotator cuff injuries.

RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.
