nix1Group work is assessed based on the quality of the final product, the group's process, and individual contributions. Students may do self and peer assessments to evaluate their own and others' performance. Self and peer assessments give students a chance to reflect on how they worked in a group and get feedback from teammates. WebPA is an online peer assessment system developed at Loughborough University that has been used since 1998 across many departments and by over 2,500 students. It allows team members to grade their own and others' performance, with the grades calculated by the WebPA system.

Making Faculty Training More Agile with Blackboard Badges
As colleges increase their online course offerings, so does the need to train faculty to transition to the online format. Also, with a number of these online courses being taught by adjuncts who work full time or teach elsewhere, perhaps the biggest challenge is finding the time to complete the training. How do we cover the points they need to know in the little time they have? And how do we make the training relevant or meaningful to those who have had previous training elsewhere?
At American International College, we sought to address these challenges by using a competency-based badge system to support our training program for faculty teaching online. Faculty complete tasks to demonstrate their mastery of Blackboard skills, online pedagogy and AIC policies and procedures, with each set of tasks leading to a badge. Faculty who already have experience in these areas can demonstrate their competencies in alternate methods to earn their badges. This presentation will provide an overview of AIC’s redeveloped training program for faculty teaching online. We will address considerations of structure and implementation, as well as the benefits for full- and part-time faculty.

Many schools, however, find they do not have the resources, human or monetary, to attempt either option. Peer evaluation and grading can be a powerful teaching method. Learning occurs when student have to assess another student’s work because it forces them to analyze the finer nuances of the assignment in order to grade and provide effective feedback to a peer. This feature can be used to assess as well as teach. This session will explore how rubrics can be used for peer grading and lessons learned when first implementing this type of assignment in a pharmacy management course.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1) Explain the value of assessment as a teaching method.
2) List possible assignments in your course/program that could utilize peer grading with rubrics.

Peer evaluation and grading can be a powerful teaching method. Learning occurs when student have to assess another student’s work because it forces them to analyze the finer nuances of the assignment in order to grade and provide effective feedback to a peer. This feature can be used to assess as well as teach. This session will explore how rubrics can be used for peer grading and lessons learned when first implementing this type of assignment in a pharmacy management course.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1) Explain the value of assessment as a teaching method.
2) List possible assignments in your course/program that could utilize peer grading with rubrics.
3) Compare functions “To Do” or “Not To Do” when creating a peer grading assignment for the first time.

This session addresses the development of a process that can be used to evaluate the quality of online teaching. The current evaluation processes at many colleges do not specifically address online instruction, and most academic administrators have limited personal experience with online course design and instruction. Two useful documents will be shared in this webinar. The first is a five-part Pre-Evaluation Worksheet. The second document is a five-category rubric for evaluating teaching performance of online instructors. The rubric could be used as a self-evaluation for faculty, as part of a peer review evaluation, or as part of an academic administrator’s evaluation of faculty. These documents are sharable and editable. Use these documents to start a faculty evaluation process or to build upon your existing process.

Sharing Experiences
Shared experiences and expectations asked participants to write down questions about peer assessment tools on post-it notes and place them on the relevant topic posters around the room. The topics were data handling, software installation, integrating technology and teaching, marking algorithm and methodology, and collusion, victimisation, and fairness. Participants then joined the poster group closest to their main question or issue. Each group consolidated questions on their poster into a flip chart under categories of problems needing solutions ("Agghhh") or those with potential solutions already ("Eureka"). Groups then reported back key findings so the facilitators could address issues in afternoon sessions.
User Group Meeting Programme

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
