The student wrote a story called "Blaze Saves the World" set in ancient Egypt about a boy who becomes friends with Egyptian gods. In planning the story, the student found it difficult to come up with ideas when other group members disagreed. When drafting and revising, the student struggled to finish within the short time frame but is proud most scenes made it into the final movie. Through workshops, the student learned how to write engaging openings and use dialogue better. In producing the digital story, the role was scriptwriter and skills in iMovie were improved like panning and zooming. Group work was sometimes enjoyable but also frustrating, though the student learned to trust others' work. The overall unit helped the student learn to improve stories

1. Story-telling Reflection
My Story is called “Blaze Saves the World”
The Planning Process:
I chose to write in the historical fiction genre because I thought that would be
fun.The most interesting thing about my main character is he is just a normal
boy and he became friends with Egyptian gods.We chose to the set the story
in Egypt and we chose to write about ancient Egyptian mythology. While
making my plot diagram, I found coming up with ideas difficult because every
time I get an idea someone in my group would say no.My best idea during
planning was to make up the bad guy Seth. While planning this story I learned
to work in a team.
The Drafting & Revising Processes:
It was difficult to write my story draft because I had a very short to finish the
story and I need a lot of time to think.I am proud of my story because most of
the scenes in our final movie came from my story.During the Writing
Workshops, I learned how to write sizzling starts. I became better at using
dialogue. While talking to Mr. Crawford, I learned to write better sentences,
starting with verbs. If I wrote it again, I would try to improve my story by
writingdifferent types of sentences.
Digital Production and Editing:
I am proud of my movie because I think we did a good job making the movie.
I found it difficult to create the storyboard because Joshua kept annoying
Dave and me.My role was to be the scriptwriter.I worked especially hard at
write a good script. The thing I am most happy with is the script because I
think it tells a great story. While making the movie, I learned many new
technology skills in iMovie. I became much better at panning and zooming.
If I made the movie again, I would try to color the pictures better to make it
look better on screen.
Collaboration:
Sometimes, I enjoyed group work because it was fun.Other times, I didn’t
enjoy group work because it was frustrating. While working in a group, I
learned to trust my group to do a good job.During the unit, our group became
better at teamwork.
What else?
During this story-telling unit I especially learned how to make a story better.
After this unit, I will continue tomovies about other stories for fun.
