The student wrote a story called "Aliens Attack" and found the planning, drafting, and production processes enjoyable, though also challenging. They created an interesting main character and learned the importance of planning a story. During writing workshops, the student improved at writing engaging openings and dialogue. For their digital story, the student had difficulty storyboarding but was proud of the final pictures. Working with a group, the student discovered that teamwork is key for collaboration, and the unit helped their group improve at working together.

My Story is called Aliens Attack
The Planning Process:
I chose to write an actiongenre because I think it is cool and awesome
The most interesting thing about my main character is that he is brave.
We chose to the set the story in New York because it is big and has great
scenery. While making my plot diagram, I found it enjoyable because it was
easy to summarize the story.My best idea during planning was creating Bill,
the character. While planning this story I learned that planning a story takes
many, long steps.
The Drafting & Revising Processes:
It was enjoyable to write my story draft because when you write more and
more, you get more ideas.I am proud of my story because I think it’s a cool
story. During the Writing Workshops, I learned how to write sizzling starts,
better sentences and dialogue. I became better at writing sizzling starts.
While talking to Jacqueline Harvey, I learned that being an authors isn’t easy.
If I wrote it again, I would try to improve my story by writing better, more
interesting sentences.
Digital Production and Editing:
I am proud of my movie because the story is a great movie.I found it difficult
to create the storyboard because it was hard planning the pictures and the
script to match.My role was to be the scriptwriter.I worked especially hard at
typing the script.The thing I am most happy with is the pictures. While
making the movie, I learned many new technology skills in iMovie. I became
much better at using Garage Band. If I made the movie again, I would try to
make the music much better at matching the pictures.
Collaboration:
Sometimes, I enjoyed group work because when we work together, we
finished things faster.Other times, I didn’t enjoy group work because
sometimes, we quarreled and disagreed on things. While working in a group, I
learned that teamwork is the most important thing while working in a
group.During the unit, our group became better at collaborating.
What else?
During this story-telling unit I especially enjoyed creating our digital stories.
After this unit, I will continue to write more stories for fun.
