Noonan Syndrome Research Paper
Overview Noonan syndrome is a disorder caused by a genetic mutation that causes various parts of the
patient s body to develop abnormally. The condition occurs when a parent passes on an affected gene
to their child that produces constantly active proteins, leading to a disruption in the process of normal
cell division and growth. Science currently knows of eight genes in which a mutation can cause the
disorder. In some cases, there is no family history and the mutation is spontaneous. Symptoms One of
the main indications of Noonan syndrome is the abnormal development of the person s face, which
varies at different ages. Newborn babies generally have low set ears, slanting or wide set eyes, and a
short neck, among other features. Infants

Effects Of Postnatal Depression On Mothers, Families, And...
Introduction: Pregnancy and postpartum are considered as high risk periods for the emergence of
psychiatric disorders. Postnatal depression (PND) is one of the most common psychopathology in
these phases. PND describes non psychotic depressive episodes, with loss of interest, insomnia, and
loss of energy experienced by mothers within the period of 4 to 6 weeks after delivery [1]. A wide
range of PND prevalence (10 42%) has been reported across the globe [2 11]. It is considered a
serious public health issue because of its devastating effects on mothers, families, and infants or
children [12]. Accurate estimates of PND prevalence are difficult to obtain as cultural norms may

The studied hospital is attached to a rural medical college recognized by Medical Council of India
with teaching facility for both under and post graduates in obstetrics and gynecology. It caters to the
need of nearby villages and talukas and linked with many government health programmes for the
benefit of rural poor.
The total population of Mandya district is 1.92 million. Situated in southern part of Karnataka state, it
is a prominent agricultural district blessed with the irrigation waters of river Cauvery and Hemavathi
[18]. More than half of the population is involved in agriculture. Most of the industries that are run in
the district depend on agriculture for their raw material. Sugar Mills, Jaggery making units, Rice Mills
are the prominent industries of this district [18].
Study design and sample
Cross sectional study design was adopted to accomplish the study objective. All the women who came
for postnatal follow up to studied hospital from June to July 2012 formed the sampling frame. We
decided to study at least 96 postnatal mothers based on minimum estimated PND prevalence of 10%
with 6% precision, 95% confidence level [19]. All the women who came for follow up from 4th to
10th week of postnatal period from June to Nov 2012 were included. Women with acute severe illness
or cognitive impairment or not willing to consent for voluntary participation were excluded. In a day
maximum of two postnatal women, satisfying inclusion and

Interpretation Of The Apparent Age Theorists
The Apparent Age theory says that God created the world in six literal 24 hour solar days, and that the
basic facts of geology and paleontology can be attributed to original creation by apparent age and
Biblical catastrophism. It has been shown that a normal interpretation of scripture gives strong
evidence for a creation in six days of 24 hours (Dr.JackL.Arnold). Once more relying upon science to
form the filter through which we examine Scriptural truth, the Apparent Age theorists sees a
contradiction between science and God s Word and feeling he must reconcile the two, he decides that
God must have created the universe to look as if it were very old. After all, he posits, God made Adam
full grown, for what reason should we not believe that

Cupid s Arrow In The Odyssey
In the ultimately unfortunate tale of Daphne and Apollo, Apollo s arrogance costs the nymph Daphne
her life (as a human). Apollo s conceit is evident to Cupid from the start, and so he commences his
revenge by drawing forth two weapons of differing purposes . One arrow is meant to create feelings of
intense love and infatuation, while the other is meant to create a feeling of fear and repugnance for the
lover. Cupid shoots these arrows at Apollo and Daphne (respectively), and so the drama begins.
Apollo chases Daphne relentlessly, and as she grows weary from running, she calls on her father
Peneus for help. Peneus hears his daughter s desperate plea and delivers aid by transforming her into a
tree. However, Daphne s transformation begs the question of whether Cupid s arrow actually works on
the sun god or not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apollo tries explaining to Daphne that non insequor hostis when he exclaims that amor est mihi causa

disturbing manner, further proving that Cupid s arrow did fulfill its short term purpose of making
Apollo fall in love. Daphne, on the other hand, did not want to be involved in an relationship to begin
with, as shown when she begs her father da mihi perpetuā...virginitate frui! (lines 486 through 487).
Her desire to get as far away from Apollo as she possibly can exhibits that Cupid s lead arrow worked

Analysis Of My Daughter By Judith Sutpen
Miss Rosa describes her niece, Judith Sutpen, as a woman more strange to me than to any grief for
being so less its partner (120). Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first her
mother, then her fiancé at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her family s
wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes
accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as the
poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in turning both wealthy
and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has come to a close and the era of
desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins
to consistently portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain
woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the
Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which
Judith has endured, and specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these
tragedies. The first time the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first
encounter with Judith after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found no grieving
widowed bride but Judith standing before the closed door to that chamber, in the

The patterns for the enjoyment and self perceived was strongly correlated for each school subject.
These results were shocking, because of the intercultural differences in teaching and the educational

moderate, which is surprising because the monozygotic twins were raised in the same household.
Some exceptions were neither the enjoyment of self perceived ability was influenced by shared

this would be the genetics and not the environmental affiliation. While going through the data of
academic motivation the measures were normally distributed, but when the data didn t meet the
criterion of normality, they then applied transformations. They repeated the analyses for not only the
transformed scores, but also the untransformed scores and found that they yielded similar results.
When they picked out one twin from each pair, they found that the correlations were abstemiously

Effects Of The Great Leap Forward
It can be said that The Great Leap Forward had affected the economy in China negatively as many had
suffered through the years in which The Great Leap Forward had been imposed. The Great Leap
Forward was an ideology established by Mao that aimed to improve the economy of China and to
improve the lifestyles of the Chinese Peasants but it can be argued that The Great Leap Forward had
affected the economy in China positively and that it was greatly favoured and appreciated, it uplifted
the economy and the lifestyles of many peasants and helped China grow economically. It will be
proven with evidence that The Great Leap Forward had affected the economy and the lives of many
peasants.

The Effect Of Enzymes On Enzyme And Substrate
Introduction:
Enzymes defined as biological catalysts that speed the chemical reaction by reducing the activation
energy (Biology Department, 2014). Enzymes play an important biological role in the cell, as it is
important to keep the cell alive by speed up the reaction, which explains why in absence of enzyme
some reactions need long time (Richard Mark, 2001). Also, enzymes regulate organism intercellular
function for example enzymes help to keep human body healthy by defend it from infection, regulate
blood sugar, and maintenance weight (Reece et al., 2014). Reaction rate can be affected by pH,
temperature, and concentration of enzyme and substrate (Biology Department, 2014). If pH levels are
not in the enzyme normal range the active site of the enzymes will change its shape so the enzyme will
not be able to combine with the substrates, which will prohibit the converting of the substrate to
product (Reece et al., 2014). Temperature effect the molecules movement for enzyme and substrate in
the solution so if the temperature increase the molecules movement will increase and this will increase
the rate of reaction until the point that the energy became so high this will prohibit substrate from
binding due to the fact that the active site of the enzyme were altered (Biology Department, 2014). If
enzymes concentration increase the amount of product per unit time will increase too, while the total
amount of product will not change (Richard Mark, 2001). It is important

b. Internal audit
Internal environment includes factors that can be controlled by the company such as management,
production, finance, accounting, supply of materials, marketing, public relations (PR), human
resources, information systems, etc. Analyzing these factors helps businesses identify strengths,
weaknesses, then finding out the appropriate strategy. Marketing strategies, marketing systems,
marketing organization, marketing function and marketing productivity are included in the internal
audit.
Marketing strategy audit is about the marketing objectives of Kinh Do and how it relate to overall
objectives. It also concerned about whether Kinh Do has enough resources to achieved these
objectives or not. Marketing systems mentions the procedures for formulating marketing plans and
management control. The structural capability to implement the plan is belonged to marketing
organization. Marketing function is a review of the effectiveness of each element of the mix. The last
area in marketing audit is marketing productivity about how profitable and cost effective the
marketing program is. Kinh Do should use some techniques such as value chain, marketing mix or
SWOT as a tool to audit the internal environment. The value chain will show the marketing systems,
marketing organization and

Compare And Contrast To Andromeda By Sappho
In Ancient Greece
Pain can be shown in ways such as anger and sorrow. The writer Sappho establishes great imagery in
the poem To Andromeda by taking pain into natural moving actions. She expresses how her feelings
change from hurt to anger and how heavy that can be. The artist Pheidias, was often credited as being
the greatest of all Ancient Greek sculptors he was a man gifted with much talent. Not one specific
piece can definitely be attributed to the artist, but historical record suggests that he was the supervisor
and main sculptor for works such as the Athena Parthenos and the Zeus for the temple at Olympia.
Athenaeus, was an composer and musician from ancient Greece who thrived around years of 138 28

Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy
2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY
Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William
Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic
writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic
intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced
by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we
think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94),
Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear
(1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from
Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First
Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are
from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio.
Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures: Julius Caesar, Antony and
Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

three tragedies because their protagonists attracted my attention the most. Is Macbeth tempted to sin

man responsible for his tragic fate? (Bevington, 1980) The psychological aspect in his tragedies is
impressive. I think the most impressive thing is that even after more than 400 years we can still study

Bariatric Surgery
Indication:
No studies evaluate the commonly used indications for bariatric surgery. Consensus guidelines suggest
that the surgical treatment of obesity should be reserved for patients with a body mass index (BMI)

It may continue for up to two years after the operation. Because of the rapid weight loss, health
conditions affected by obesity such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, sleep
apnea, heartburn, and other conditions often improve quickly. You ll probably also feel a dramatic
improvement in your quality of life.
Gastric bypass also has good long term results; studies have found that many people keep most of the
weight off for 10 years or longer.
The Cons. By design, surgeries like this impair the body s ability to absorb food. While that can cause
rapid weight loss, it also puts you at risk of serious nutritional deficiencies. The loss of calcium and
iron could lead to osteoporosis and anemia. You ll have to be very careful with your diet and take
supplements for the rest of your life.
Another risk of gastric bypass is dumping syndrome, in which food is dumped from the stomach into
the intestines too quickly, before it s been properly digested. About 85% of people who get a gastric
bypass have some dumping. Symptoms include nausea, bloating, pain, sweating, weakness, and
diarrhea. Dumping is often triggered by sugary or high carbohydrate foods, and adjusting the diet
helps. However, some experts actually see dumping syndrome as beneficial, in that it encourages
people to avoid foods that could lead to weight gain.
Unlike adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass is generally

A. Cookwares: The main disadvantage of induction cooktops is the cookwares used for cooking. You
can only use a cookware that is magnetic, maybe made of stainless steel or cast iron. Without this,
your induction cooktop will not work.
This could pose a big problem if you only have cookwares made of non magnetic elements like copper

B. Noise: Sometimes induction cooktops make noise when you use them to cook.
C. Electricity Problems: Induction Cooktops work with electric power supply. So, in situations when
your home doesn t have access to electricity, you won t be able to cook using your induction cooktop.
D. Cost: Induction Cooktops are more expensive when compared to other traditional cooking
appliances. If you are on a tight budget, you might have to settle for a cheap induction cooktop which

Leadership quality plays a key role in the success of the any organisation. Leadership is the ability of a
superior to induce subordinates to work with confidence and zeal (Brown, 2014). Leadership is an
influential process. In other words, we can say leadership is an ability of a company s management to
make sound decisions and inspire others performs well. Leadership is the art of motivating a group of
people to act towards achieving a common goal. Leadership is a winning combination of personal

It could be ensured that the rise of Emotional Intelligence idea has refreshed power attribute approach
which backtracks to 1930s (Robbins, 2001), however this time with a broad refinement, reverse to

intelligence can be created.
Emotional intelligence is broadly known to be a key part of effective leadership. Understanding how
the brain works and how the emotional response works should also be an element in where we place
colleagues within our organisations (Brown, 2014). Having the capacity to relate behaviours and
difficulties of emotional intelligence on workplace performance is an immense point of interest in
building an outstanding team (Lunenburg, 2011). Also, Emotional intelligence should refer to
heightened mental capacities including thinking about feeling, for example, recognizing what
someone else is feeling, and that this should include extensive thinking as opposed to preferred ways
of behaving (Lunenburg, 2011). Their altered meaning of emotional intelligence was then advanced as
the capacity to perceive emotions, to access and produce emotions in order to help thought, to
understand emotions and emotional knowledge and to brilliantly regulate emotions in order to

The hopes were with enhanced programs, the disabled would be able to return to the workforce. With
the introduction of the Senior Citizens Freedom to Work Act of 2000, retirement age individuals were
able to continue to work at their full retirement age and still receive benefits. The Medicare
Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 added the voluntary prescription drug
program under the Medicare program. With the No Social Security Benefits for Prisoners Act of 2009,
prisoners were prohibited from collecting social security benefits while they were in prison or in
violation of parole or probation. The most recent change enacted to the Social Security program was
the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. This Act
instituted a 2% reduction in employee s payroll taxes. (www.ssa.gov/history)
The state of our current Social Security program is that there are fewer workers to fund the Social
Security program through payroll taxes due to the decrease in number of birth rates per woman.
Simple math shows that less people to contribute equals less money being funded. Social Security
payroll taxes were just reduced from 6.2% to 4.2% per worker. To be eligible to receive Social
Security benefits, you must earn 40 credits which is equivalent to 10 years of working. The monthly
retirement benefit amount is based on the retired workers lifetime earnings.

The Pyramid Of Djoser Complex And The Colosseum
The two works of art that I will be talking about are The Pyramid of Djoser complex and The
Colosseum. The subject that these two works of art share is architecture. The Pyramid of Djoser
complex was created by Imhotep who was the vizier of Pharaoh Djoser. It was built during the 27th
century BC for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser. The medium used to make The Pyramid of Djoser
complex is stone. The Roman Colosseum was created under emperor Vespasian and was completed
under his successor and heir Titus. The art style for The Pyramid of Djoser complex is an Egyptian
kind of style. Construction for the Colosseum began in AD 72 and was completed in AD 80 under
Titus. The medium that was used to create the colosseum was concrete, stone and sand. The art style
for the Colosseum is a Roman kind of Style. In this essay I will be comparing The Pyramid of Djoser
complex and The Roman Colosseum and explain why The Roman Colosseum is a much better work
of art than The Pyramid of Djoser complex. The Pyramid of Djoser complex was built in honor of the
Pharaoh Djoser by his vizier named Imhotep. This pyramid was the burial of the pharaoh and was the
central feature of a vast mortuary complex in a gigantic courtyard. This was surrounded by ceremonial

Ambiguity in O Connor
Ambiguity in ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find In most short stories ambiguity is used to some extent.
The level of ambiguity in each story varies, however the importance and value of that vagueness does
not. Ambiguity often leads to elevating the thought put into reading the text, as well as numerous
interpretations. In Flannery O Connor s short story, ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find , the ambiguous
theme causes both deeper thought and different opinions about the text. Through the characters in the
story, the reader can reflect on the recurring theme which poses the question of what makes a person
good. Ambiguity in short stories is common and can be used in many different ways by the author.
Flannery O Connor uses ambiguity in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it may seem peculiar that O Connor would make the theme an ambiguous one it clearly is
essential to the story. The ambiguous theme makes the story more intriguing. Had O Connor written
the story with a clear set of characteristics for a good man and stated them in the text, the story would
lose much of its meaning. The intent of the story is to inspire the reader to reflect on the meaning of a
good man. The title, ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find alludes to this point. After reading the text, it can
be assumed that a good man is difficult to find because no one is universally considered to be good.
Each person has peers that have differing opinions of him. By the theme being an ambiguous one, O
Connor initiates her readers to contemplate the diversity of ideas and values that individuals may have
on the same subject. This makes the story more intriguing and valuable. Instead of ‘A Good Man is
Hard to Find simply being a story about a family crossing paths with a murderer, it also inspires
various opinions about the theme itself. This makes the story one that will pass the test of time and be
relevant for all eras. The ambiguous approach to developing the theme not only makes the story, it
also adds to the reading experience. As the story progresses the reader begins to discover the values of
the characters based on the dialogue between characters about the notion of a good man. The reader

Police Informants
To snitch or not to snitch, that is the question. For decades law enforcement agencies across the world
have used informants to help put criminals behind bars. Unfortunately, the use of informants has had
little effect on lowering crime rates in areas where crime runs rampant. In the article by Alexandra
Natapoff, titled, Bait and Snitch: The High Cost of Snitching for Law Enforcement, she discusses how
informants do more harm than good at helping the war on crime. After doing some research on the
topic, I would have to agree with Natapoff s belief because the use of informants has handicapped law
enforcement agencies. Also, the informants themselves, are dangerous and the use of them has
negatively affected communities.
The use of informants in law enforcement has caused problems in law enforcement agencies. Police
have come to overly rely on informants to help capture criminals, and doing this has caused them to
use less more effective tactics. For instance, going undercover or doing sting operations. Some law
enforcement agencies seem to favor some informants over others, and that has caused informants to be
suspicious when working with them. In some cases, officers have even befriended their informants

Hades says, I wonder what would happen if I go to the living world again. With a big jump, Hades

The Events that Happened on December 13th
This research paper is about the events that happened on December 13th. I will take you through sum
very interesting events that happened on this date, which is also my birthday. Personally I didn t know
that there were events like this that happened on this day. It was very interesting what I learned during
this research project. I will be able to take the knowledge that I absorbed by doing this project with me
through high school, college and eventually a career that fits me.
My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting for their country.
This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers
who were in its path. Witnesses say the avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the
enemies on the mountain, soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the
actual fighting itself. The French and Russians were against the Germans and Austrians. Most of the
battle camps were set up directly under unstable snow, so whoever was in there at the time of the
avalanche, they would have died. Only a few people were found out of thousands of soldiers in the
battles.
Another interesting event was the capturing of Saddam Hussein. Operation Red Dawn was the plan
that the U.S. would try to find and execute Saddam Hussein for good He was raised into a poor family
as a little child by his mother. His first wife, was his first cousin Sajida. Saddam spent many years

Why China Has A Growing Middle Class
Due to recent advances in technology, communication, and transportation, companies are no longer
confined to just one country to market and sell their products in. This has presented many companies
with global opportunities. China, one of the fastest growing countries in regard to economy and
population, presents a very appealing market to businesses looking to expand. China has a growing
middle class that no longer has to be as price sensitive (Barton, Chen, Yin, 2013), and this is good
news for American companies that have a strong brand name and do not necessarily rely on a cheap
price to sell their goods. China is also experiencing an increased demand for biscuits and crackers, but
many people are also becoming more health conscious ( Entering the Biscuit Market in China: There
is Still a Chance, 2014). These presents Nabisco, a strong brand name in the United States, the perfect
opportunity to expand their graham cracker line into China.
Nabisco s graham crackers do not have too much variety in the United States. Its Honey Maid line
consists of honey, vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon flavors. Nabisco also produces Honey Maid
Dippers and Teddy Grahams that are smaller than the original graham crackers and are perfect for
smaller hands. The graham crackers are sold by box sizes ( Varieties, 2016). These can be purchased at
almost every grocery store and are typically found in the cookie and cracker aisle. As mentioned
before, China has the potential to be a viable

Cherokee Removal Speech
The Cherokee Indians have lived on the North American continent far longer than anyone of British
decent. Yet they were removed in a brutal manner from their homeland, on which they have lived for
countless centuries. This journey of removal is called the Trail of Tears, which had a horrendous effect
on the Cherokees.
In 1791, the United States began negotiations with the Cherokee nation. However, Americans began
moving onto Cherokee land and forcing them away due to want/need of land for farming and other
purposes. This began a series of events that led to their removal. In 1828 the state of Georgia passed a
law that stated, as of June 1, 1830 the Cherokee Nation would be null and void, it would no longer be
seen as a nation to the state of Georgia.
During the nineteenth century as many as one hundred thousand Natives were forcefully moved
westward. Those removed came from five different tribes. These were the Cherokee, Chickasaw,
Choctaw, Creek, and the Seminoles who were forced to move during the decade of the Indian
Removal Act of 1830.The tribe that was most affected by this was the Cherokee was a tribe that who
experienced one of the most horrific removals in our nation s history. The Cherokee stated, The
Cherokee removal was named Nunna dual Tsung (Trail Where They Cried). Although to us it is
known as the Trail of Tears.
The Cherokees faced the final blow in 1835 when the Treaty of New Echota was passed. This treaty
stated that the Cherokees would receive

Government Regulating Food
One may agree with the government regulating our food. Personally speaking, it is a good idea. It is a
surprise how unhealthy people are when they eat out, they do not count calories and eat whatever they
want. Some challenging the government would say calorie labeling has no effect on what we eat. Too
many Americans are obese today and it is time to make a change and clean up our eating habits.
Although many Americans are active and keep track of eating healthy, too many are obese and junk
food oriented. Counting calories is hard, but it can lead to people eating much better. At least two
thirds of Americans are now considered obese (Park). In New York City forty percent of the city s
obese population is elementary and middle school students (Park). Now obesity does have many
causes, but it comes from unhealthy junk that you put inside your body when you eat fast food. If an
obese adult could see the amount of calories they eat in one day, God hopes they would eat better. In

A passage from Stephanie Rosenbloom read, This is just another unnecessary government intrusion
into private decision making. Now that does make sense, if the government did stay out of our private
lives, we would be making America worse. It does seem a bit weird that you can buy a Big Mac from
McDonald s for one dollar, but a good, healthy apple is at least two dollars or more. Sam Kazman
made an argument that whether he wanted to go buy and apple or a Big Mac, he has a right to buy
both of these without any information. I would rather a calorie label on the Big Mac and the apple to
compare the difference. If we could just compare the calories to unhealthy and healthy foods we
would have a healthier diet if you were trying to eat right. He also made a point that this is just not a
federal issue. While this is agreeable, the government does have a right to label whatever they would

Critical Analysis Of Wallace Stevens s The Inhabitants
The daily ritual of leaving work in the city to arrive home in the suburbs has been masterfully depicted
in the poem, The Inhabitants. By taking the New Critical analysis approach in using scientific theory,
we can unpack its meaning through a defined system self contained within the text. In our analysis of
The Inhabitants we take a structuralism approach. Structuralism as defined by Mary Klages, in her
book Literary Theory: A Guide for the Perplexed, is a way of thinking that works to find the
fundamental basis units or elements of which anything is made. (p 31). The number 5 is a very
powerful prime number. Taking a closer look at the poem, we see the power of the 5 paradigm and
how it plays a crucial role in unlocking the poem s very meaning. Similarly, in our class exercise we
utilized the work of Wallace Stevens, A Postcard From the Volcano , and reduced the story to its bare
bones. Getting to the basics of Guest s piece, we can simply start with its structural rhythm of five
stanzas. Each stanza is a self contained unit that describes the transition from the city to the suburbs.
In the first stanza the descriptive is of the onset of departing office workers pilgrimage, Like people in
an opera on the street, gracefully orchestrate an orderly descent from their office building to the bus
stop. Not the mad dash out the door that school children make as their final school bell rings,
nonetheless just as anxious. Listen to the last line of the first stanza,

and it has since become the leading nation in peaceful pluralistic living. The United States Army is a
direct reflection of this nation with respect to the pluralistic culture. Men and women of the United
States have fought and died to secure this freedom, and as a chaplain, he or she must continue to do all

DoD Directive
In further refining the role or limitations for a Chaplain, the Department of Defense provides
directives to bring clarity to more specific issues. The Chaplain is viewed as the subject matter expert
(SME) on religion. With this in mind, and his/her position as personal staff officer to the commander,
they are called on to advise commanders on issues pertaining to religion and the accommodation
thereof. Department of Defense Directive 1300.17 indicates specific guidance to the acceptance of
religious accommodations. Since the military places high value (DoD Directive 1300.7) on the right to
free exercise of religion, commands are encouraged to accommodate religious needs where
appropriate. While on the outset, this does not apply directly to the Chaplain, he/she is the SME on all
matters pertaining to religion. Therefore, this directive again narrows, limits, the scope of the Chaplain
to religious matters. Commanders are encouraged to utilize the expertise of the Chaplain when
determining when and how to accommodate religious practices. This fosters greater unit cohesion and
unit readiness as it pertains to spiritual fitness and resiliency (DoD Directive 1300.7).
Army Regulation
In the scope of understanding the role of a Chaplain, service level regulations contain the most
specific detail on limitations and refinement. Therefore, this study now turns to a review of

Evolution Of The 1920s
The 1920 s were a time of change. New ideas were becoming more readily experimented with and
even accepted by large portions of the population. Some of these included jazz music and the fight
against the alcoholic prohibition. The radical idea I will focus on in this paper, however, is Evolution.
It is a theory that had been around for over half a century before the 20 s but had only more recently
caught on in the US. It contradicted the Christian theory of Divine Creation as described in the Bible.
This caused many religious fundamentalists to fight against it. They took their battle to the law books,
and they were challenged by pro evolution modernists in the Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925.
The theory of Evolution was developed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was on the forefront of the challenge against the Butler
Act. The ACLU is a non profit organization founded in 1920 whose stated mission is to defend and
preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the
Constitution and laws of the United States. It posted an announcement in a Tennessee newspaper
saying that it would offer its services to anyone willing to challenge the anti evolution statute. John T.
Scopes accepted the offer, after townspeople like George Rappleyea argued that a trial would bring
publicity to the small town of Dayton. Scopes was a 24 year old science teacher and coach of the local
high school football team. He was indicted by a grand jury for violating the Butler Law on May 25,
1925 and the stage was set for Case Number 5232, Scopes v. State.
The main player for the prosecution was William Jennings Bryan, a three time presidential nominee
and former Secretary of State. He was a devout Christian, a prohibitionist, and fighter of evolution. In
a way, Bryan embodied the traditional way of life that many fought to keep during the twenties. For
the defense, there was Clarence Darrow, an agnostic lawyer who was famous for defending the
underdog in a trial. He, in a way, represented

Jerk Behaviors That Attract Girls Analysis
5 Jerk Behaviors That Attract Girls Part 1
By Joseph Matthews
Mar 14, 2009
It s the age old question every nice guy ends up asking himself at one time or another...
Why do jerks get the women, and me, the good guy, is stuck being alone?
Sometimes, it s easy to believe that Jerks have some type of magical power that allows them to sucker
women into liking them and somehow have them hang around while they treat them like dirt.
This happens SO MUCH, that some guys believe that they actually have to BECOME Jerks to get
women attracted to them.
But make no mistake about it no body likes a jerk. Not even the women who date them! So if that s
the case, why is it obvious that they get so many girls to go for them?
Well, remember that Jerk s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jerks realize it s not the woman s job to approach the guy. If you want something, you have to go after
it.
So if the Nice Guys were to start walking up and talking to women, they might be surprised to find
most women WELCOME their company and really want to meet a good fella to treat them right!
3. Jerk s don t censor themselves
Part of the reason Jerk s come off as fun, interesting, or exciting is because they aren t worried about
offending anybody. They will talk about whatever, joke about whatever, and even broach sensitive
topics of conversation without a blink of an eye.
Too many nice guys hold back when they talk to a girl they like. They NEVER bring up sex. They don
t even joke about it. Heck, they don t even display any sign they even LIKE the girl.
Because of this, the Nice Guys become the Boring Guys.
The Jerk will come along, make an off color joke, tell the girl a racy story, and even MAKE FUN of
the girl!
He could care less if he offends somebody. To the Jerk, he s just doing what comes naturally to him.
Attitude like this is like a breath of fresh air to many women, because they mistake it as

Reading And Writing Of Reading
Are reading and writing connected? Reading and writing have always been strong elements, in our
lives, studies have shown that reading affects writing and vise versa. Stephen King said, If you could
put together a model car or assemble a piece of furniture from directions you could write a sentence .
He states the importance of two powerful elements, reading and writing, and by putting them together
we could make something out of them. I can come to terms with the fact that reading and writing are
the key elects to many opportunities although it has not always been easy to convey. Reading and
writing together are both the path to improving our vocabulary and expanding of our knowledge, even
though certain people will argue differently, and say that only one (reading or writing) of them is the
key element.
First, the important connection that reading and writing has to our vocabulary is that we expand our
mind and our words as well. Elements like reading and writing are both major factors on what
someone can accomplish, reading helps us become better writers in writing an essay or even a book. It
also starts from the time we start going to school, that we learn how to read and write, how to sound
our consonants and vowels. Instilling in us from the beginning the importance of reading and writing;
are our teachers, preparing us for our future, academically and in the workforce. Roseanne Rocha
Tavares once said, In recent years many authorities have called for the necessity

Descriptive Essay On Fashion Shows
My cousin, Eshna was taking me to a fashion show being held in Kolkata. I ve never been to one
before. In fact, I had no idea of what exactly it was that they showed in fashion shows. In dog shows,
they showed dogs; in baby shows they showed babies. I knew what dogs were, and what babies were,
so that was all right. But I hadn t a clue what fashion was, and was looking forward to finding out.
All I knew about fashion shows was that they involved people called models. The models walked up
and down something called a catwalk. No one seemed to know why a catwalk should be called a
catwalk. Why not a dogwalk, for instance? Well, the answer to that seemed simple. If they called the
catwalk a dogwalk then people might think that what they d come to see was a dog show, instead of a
fashion show and be on the lookout for a French poodle a la Rohit Bal. On the other hand, no one s
ever heard of a cat show, so if you call the catwalk in a fashion show a catwalk you d be alright, and
no one would expect to see Garfield strutting his stuff courtesy Ritu Beri. Just to further confuse
matters, however, the catwalk is also known as a ramp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I knew what Page 3 was. It was the page that came after Page 2, which in turn came after Page 1.
These things aren t too difficult to work out, if you take a deep breath and don t panic. But knowing
that Page 3 came after Page 2 was like knowing about catwalks also known as ramps and models; all
this still didn t tell me what fashion was. And I was all agog to find

King appealed to his followers through personalization, utilizing words such as self sufficient,

where individuals make judgements about themselves and others related to personal qualities. King
made people want to posses the same personal qualities. With a further analysis of Martin Luther King

paragraph King starts off with Five score years ago... referring to Lincoln s famous Gettysburg
Address which began Four score and seven years ago . King uses a technique called anaphora which is
the process of repeating words at the beginning of neighboring clauses. When repeating words it sets a
pattern, with further repetition it emphasizes the pattern even more which increases the rhetorical
effect. Emphasis through repetition makes phrases more memorable, and, by extension, make King s
story more memorable. Another thing King did was to repeat the key theme, King s most frequent
word he used was freedom which was said twenty times. This would make sense because freedom is
the primary theme of the speech. Through out King s speech he says we thirty times so the people

Pig House. Where are we going? Bobby asked. He had a twizzler in his pocket he was sure would
have grown stale by the time they reached wherever they were heading. Shut up, Jones commanded.
He strode a little ahead of the group, but turned to glare at Bobby. We re almost there. Where exactly
are we going? Al asked. He was the smallest of all the boys but the smartest. He was Mr Finch s
favourite student, and Jones was his least. Patty had been the one to suggest going out wandering.
Jones had remembered the abandoned field a couple of miles out from his house. He said he kept a
ball there for kick around and that they could play with it until it got dark. Bobby had been hesitant,
wary of his mother s warning to be home before six. But Jones was so excited and then he roped Patty
into it as well, and Patty always seemed to know what he was doing. His parents didn t impose
curfews on him, and Bobby envied this of him. His mother, on the other hand, was constantly
worrying him, telling him come straight home from school, to not talk to strangers, and to not go
anywhere he hadn t been before with her. Bobby was more than a little sick of it. He wanted to be a

Thesis Statement Of Career Motivation
6. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Because of the nature of the construction industry, it was not surprising that most respondents were
male. In generally, the respondents profile indicate the responding have the require information to
offer unbiased feedbacks on the survey. As may be seen from Tables 3 through 5, the motivational
factor of programme choice selection is attributable by five constructs. Two of the five sub hypotheses
were substantiated in hypothesis 1. A positive relationship is found between career motivation factor
and satisfaction with choice is not unexpected. This is because serious shortfall may exist if there is a
mismatch between the learning satisfactions with career motivation. The consequence is truancy, poor
grade and dropout, in turn, the lower satisfaction with the decision made. Career motivation is very
critical for most people or graduate. For a prospective student, career motivations involve the

Andy Warhol Doubtlessly, Marilyn Diptych by Andy Warhol is the symbol of Pop Art movement for
me; however, I like to express my reaction to Before and After, 1961, by Andy Warhol. The foremost
reason for choosing this piece is I just saw it and my reaction is so fresh! Reading about Andy Warhol
and his early stages as an iconic pop artist, Before and After attracts my attention, a black and white
big size piece which shows a profile of a woman before and after a nose plastic surgery. Arthur C.

  • 2. Noonan Syndrome Research Paper Overview Noonan syndrome is a disorder caused by a genetic mutation that causes various parts of the patient s body to develop abnormally. The condition occurs when a parent passes on an affected gene to their child that produces constantly active proteins, leading to a disruption in the process of normal cell division and growth. Science currently knows of eight genes in which a mutation can cause the disorder. In some cases, there is no family history and the mutation is spontaneous. Symptoms One of the main indications of Noonan syndrome is the abnormal development of the person s face, which varies at different ages. Newborn babies generally have low set ears, slanting or wide set eyes, and a short neck, among other features. Infants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effects Of Postnatal Depression On Mothers, Families, And... Introduction: Pregnancy and postpartum are considered as high risk periods for the emergence of psychiatric disorders. Postnatal depression (PND) is one of the most common psychopathology in these phases. PND describes non psychotic depressive episodes, with loss of interest, insomnia, and loss of energy experienced by mothers within the period of 4 to 6 weeks after delivery [1]. A wide range of PND prevalence (10 42%) has been reported across the globe [2 11]. It is considered a serious public health issue because of its devastating effects on mothers, families, and infants or children [12]. Accurate estimates of PND prevalence are difficult to obtain as cultural norms may affect women s reporting of their symptoms and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Situated in southern part of Karnataka state, it is a prominent agricultural district blessed with the irrigation waters of river Cauvery and Hemavathi [18]. More than half of the population is involved in agriculture. Most of the industries that are run in the district depend on agriculture for their raw material. Sugar Mills, Jaggery making units, Rice Mills are the prominent industries of this district [18]. Study design and sample Cross sectional study design was adopted to accomplish the study objective. All the women who came for postnatal follow up to studied hospital from June to July 2012 formed the sampling frame. We decided to study at least 96 postnatal mothers based on minimum estimated PND prevalence of 10% with 6% precision, 95% confidence level [19]. All the women who came for follow up from 4th to 10th week of postnatal period from June to Nov 2012 were included. Women with acute severe illness or cognitive impairment or not willing to consent for voluntary participation were excluded. In a day maximum of two postnatal women, satisfying inclusion and ... Interpretation Of The Apparent Age Theorists The Apparent Age theory says that God created the world in six literal 24 hour solar days, and that the basic facts of geology and paleontology can be attributed to original creation by apparent age and Biblical catastrophism. It has been shown that a normal interpretation of scripture gives strong evidence for a creation in six days of 24 hours (Dr.JackL.Arnold). Once more relying upon science to form the filter through which we examine Scriptural truth, the Apparent Age theorists sees a contradiction between science and God s Word and feeling he must reconcile the two, he decides that God must have created the universe to look as if it were very old. • 5. Cupid s Arrow In The Odyssey In the ultimately unfortunate tale of Daphne and Apollo, Apollo s arrogance costs the nymph Daphne her life (as a human). Apollo s conceit is evident to Cupid from the start, and so he commences his revenge by drawing forth two weapons of differing purposes . One arrow is meant to create feelings of intense love and infatuation, while the other is meant to create a feeling of fear and repugnance for the lover. Cupid shoots these arrows at Apollo and Daphne (respectively), and so the drama begins. Apollo chases Daphne relentlessly, and as she grows weary from running, she calls on her father Peneus for help. Peneus hears his daughter s desperate plea and delivers aid by transforming her into a tree. However, Daphne s transformation begs the question of whether Cupid s arrow actually works on the sun god or not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Daphne, on the other hand, did not want to be involved in an relationship to begin with, as shown when she begs her father da mihi perpetuā...virginitate frui! (lines 486 through 487). • 6. Analysis Of My Daughter By Judith Sutpen Miss Rosa describes her niece, Judith Sutpen, as a woman more strange to me than to any grief for being so less its partner (120). Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first her mother, then her fiancé at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her family s wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as the poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in turning both wealthy and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has come to a close and the era of desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins to consistently portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which Judith has endured, and specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these tragedies. The first time the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first encounter with Judith after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found no grieving widowed bride but Judith standing before the closed door to that chamber, in the ... • 9. The Effect Of Enzymes On Enzyme And Substrate Introduction: Enzymes defined as biological catalysts that speed the chemical reaction by reducing the activation energy (Biology Department, 2014). Enzymes play an important biological role in the cell, as it is important to keep the cell alive by speed up the reaction, which explains why in absence of enzyme some reactions need long time (Richard Mark, 2001). Also, enzymes regulate organism intercellular function for example enzymes help to keep human body healthy by defend it from infection, regulate blood sugar, and maintenance weight (Reece et al., 2014). Reaction rate can be affected by pH, temperature, and concentration of enzyme and substrate (Biology Department, 2014). If pH levels are not in the enzyme normal range the active site of the enzymes will change its shape so the enzyme will not be able to combine with the substrates, which will prohibit the converting of the substrate to product (Reece et al., 2014). Temperature effect the molecules movement for enzyme and substrate in the solution so if the temperature increase the molecules movement will increase and this will increase the rate of reaction until the point that the energy became so high this will prohibit substrate from binding due to the fact that the active site of the enzyme were altered (Biology Department, 2014). If enzymes concentration increase the amount of product per unit time will increase too, while the total amount of product will not change (Richard Mark, 2001). It is important ... • 13. Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy 2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94), Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio. Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures: Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gastric bypass also has good long term results; studies have found that many people keep most of the weight off for 10 years or longer. The Cons. By design, surgeries like this impair the body s ability to absorb food. While that can cause rapid weight loss, it also puts you at risk of serious nutritional deficiencies. The loss of calcium and iron could lead to osteoporosis and anemia. You ll have to be very careful with your diet and take supplements for the rest of your life. Another risk of gastric bypass is dumping syndrome, in which food is dumped from the stomach into the intestines too quickly, before it s been properly digested. About 85% of people who get a gastric bypass have some dumping. Symptoms include nausea, bloating, pain, sweating, weakness, and diarrhea. Dumping is often triggered by sugary or high carbohydrate foods, and adjusting the diet helps. This Act instituted a 2% reduction in employee s payroll taxes. (www.ssa.gov/history) The state of our current Social Security program is that there are fewer workers to fund the Social Security program through payroll taxes due to the decrease in number of birth rates per woman. Simple math shows that less people to contribute equals less money being funded. Social Security payroll taxes were just reduced from 6.2% to 4.2% per worker. To be eligible to receive Social Security benefits, you must earn 40 credits which is equivalent to 10 years of working. The monthly retirement benefit amount is based on the retired workers lifetime earnings. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Pyramid Of Djoser Complex And The Colosseum The two works of art that I will be talking about are The Pyramid of Djoser complex and The Colosseum. The subject that these two works of art share is architecture. The Pyramid of Djoser complex was created by Imhotep who was the vizier of Pharaoh Djoser. It was built during the 27th century BC for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser. The medium used to make The Pyramid of Djoser complex is stone. The Roman Colosseum was created under emperor Vespasian and was completed under his successor and heir Titus. The art style for The Pyramid of Djoser complex is an Egyptian kind of style. Construction for the Colosseum began in AD 72 and was completed in AD 80 under Titus. The medium that was used to create the colosseum was concrete, stone and sand. The art style for the Colosseum is a Roman kind of Style. In this essay I will be comparing The Pyramid of Djoser complex and The Roman Colosseum and explain why The Roman Colosseum is a much better work of art than The Pyramid of Djoser complex. The Pyramid of Djoser complex was built in honor of the Pharaoh Djoser by his vizier named Imhotep. This pyramid was the burial of the pharaoh and was the central feature of a vast mortuary complex in a gigantic courtyard. This was surrounded by ceremonial structures and a lot of decoration. The level of ambiguity in each story varies, however the importance and value of that vagueness does not. Ambiguity often leads to elevating the thought put into reading the text, as well as numerous interpretations. In Flannery O Connor s short story, ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find , the ambiguous theme causes both deeper thought and different opinions about the text. Through the characters in the story, the reader can reflect on the recurring theme which poses the question of what makes a person good. While it may seem peculiar that O Connor would make the theme an ambiguous one it clearly is essential to the story. The ambiguous theme makes the story more intriguing. Had O Connor written the story with a clear set of characteristics for a good man and stated them in the text, the story would lose much of its meaning. The intent of the story is to inspire the reader to reflect on the meaning of a good man. The title, ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find alludes to this point. After reading the text, it can be assumed that a good man is difficult to find because no one is universally considered to be good. Each person has peers that have differing opinions of him. By the theme being an ambiguous one, O Connor initiates her readers to contemplate the diversity of ideas and values that individuals may have on the same subject. This makes the story more intriguing and valuable. Instead of ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find simply being a story about a family crossing paths with a murderer, it also inspires various opinions about the theme itself. This makes the story one that will pass the test of time and be relevant for all eras. The ambiguous approach to developing the theme not only makes the story, it also adds to the reading experience. As the story progresses the reader begins to discover the values of the characters based on the dialogue between characters about the notion of a good man. The reader can ... Unfortunately, the use of informants has had little effect on lowering crime rates in areas where crime runs rampant. In the article by Alexandra Natapoff, titled, Bait and Snitch: The High Cost of Snitching for Law Enforcement, she discusses how informants do more harm than good at helping the war on crime. After doing some research on the topic, I would have to agree with Natapoff s belief because the use of informants has handicapped law enforcement agencies. Also, the informants themselves, are dangerous and the use of them has negatively affected communities. The use of informants in law enforcement has caused problems in law enforcement agencies. Police have come to overly rely on informants to help capture criminals, and doing this has caused them to use less more effective tactics. For instance, going undercover or doing sting operations. It was very interesting what I learned during this research project. I will be able to take the knowledge that I absorbed by doing this project with me through high school, college and eventually a career that fits me. My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting for their country. This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers who were in its path. Witnesses say the avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the enemies on the mountain, soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the actual fighting itself. The French and Russians were against the Germans and Austrians. Most of the battle camps were set up directly under unstable snow, so whoever was in there at the time of the avalanche, they would have died. Only a few people were found out of thousands of soldiers in the battles. Another interesting event was the capturing of Saddam Hussein. Why China Has A Growing Middle Class Due to recent advances in technology, communication, and transportation, companies are no longer confined to just one country to market and sell their products in. This has presented many companies with global opportunities. China, one of the fastest growing countries in regard to economy and population, presents a very appealing market to businesses looking to expand. China has a growing middle class that no longer has to be as price sensitive (Barton, Chen, Yin, 2013), and this is good news for American companies that have a strong brand name and do not necessarily rely on a cheap price to sell their goods. China is also experiencing an increased demand for biscuits and crackers, but many people are also becoming more health conscious ( Entering the Biscuit Market in China: There is Still a Chance, 2014). These presents Nabisco, a strong brand name in the United States, the perfect opportunity to expand their graham cracker line into China. Nabisco s graham crackers do not have too much variety in the United States. Its Honey Maid line consists of honey, vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon flavors. Nabisco also produces Honey Maid Dippers and Teddy Grahams that are smaller than the original graham crackers and are perfect for smaller hands. Yet they were removed in a brutal manner from their homeland, on which they have lived for countless centuries. This journey of removal is called the Trail of Tears, which had a horrendous effect on the Cherokees. In 1791, the United States began negotiations with the Cherokee nation. However, Americans began moving onto Cherokee land and forcing them away due to want/need of land for farming and other purposes. This began a series of events that led to their removal. In 1828 the state of Georgia passed a law that stated, as of June 1, 1830 the Cherokee Nation would be null and void, it would no longer be seen as a nation to the state of Georgia. During the nineteenth century as many as one hundred thousand Natives were forcefully moved westward. Those removed came from five different tribes. It is a surprise how unhealthy people are when they eat out, they do not count calories and eat whatever they want. Some challenging the government would say calorie labeling has no effect on what we eat. Too many Americans are obese today and it is time to make a change and clean up our eating habits. Although many Americans are active and keep track of eating healthy, too many are obese and junk food oriented. Counting calories is hard, but it can lead to people eating much better. At least two thirds of Americans are now considered obese (Park). In New York City forty percent of the city s obese population is elementary and middle school students (Park). By taking the New Critical analysis approach in using scientific theory, we can unpack its meaning through a defined system self contained within the text. In our analysis of The Inhabitants we take a structuralism approach. Structuralism as defined by Mary Klages, in her book Literary Theory: A Guide for the Perplexed, is a way of thinking that works to find the fundamental basis units or elements of which anything is made. (p 31). The number 5 is a very powerful prime number. Taking a closer look at the poem, we see the power of the 5 paradigm and how it plays a crucial role in unlocking the poem s very meaning. Similarly, in our class exercise we utilized the work of Wallace Stevens, A Postcard From the Volcano , and reduced the story to its bare bones. Getting to the basics of Guest s piece, we can simply start with its structural rhythm of five stanzas. Each stanza is a self contained unit that describes the transition from the city to the suburbs. In the first stanza the descriptive is of the onset of departing office workers pilgrimage, Like people in an opera on the street, gracefully orchestrate an orderly descent from their office building to the bus stop. DoD Directive In further refining the role or limitations for a Chaplain, the Department of Defense provides directives to bring clarity to more specific issues. The Chaplain is viewed as the subject matter expert (SME) on religion. With this in mind, and his/her position as personal staff officer to the commander, they are called on to advise commanders on issues pertaining to religion and the accommodation thereof. Department of Defense Directive 1300.17 indicates specific guidance to the acceptance of religious accommodations. Since the military places high value (DoD Directive 1300.7) on the right to free exercise of religion, commands are encouraged to accommodate religious needs where appropriate. While on the outset, this does not apply directly to the Chaplain, he/she is the SME on all matters pertaining to religion. Therefore, this directive again narrows, limits, the scope of the Chaplain to religious matters. Commanders are encouraged to utilize the expertise of the Chaplain when determining when and how to accommodate religious practices. This fosters greater unit cohesion and unit readiness as it pertains to spiritual fitness and resiliency (DoD Directive 1300.7).
