Who Is Vanderbilt A Hero Or A Villain
Subsidies and Steamboats: the Positive and the Negative Vanderbilt: Hero or Villain? Cornelius
Vanderbilt was an entrepreneur who attempted to break monopolies in the steamboat industry.
Vanderbilt tried to run those who used government subsidies out of business by charging less and
providing better service. However, from other perspectives, his methods were immoral. Because of
this, the question of whether Vanderbilt was a hero or a villain arose. Even so, it can be seen that
Vanderbilt helped the economy of the steamship industry. Vanderbilt used different methods that
gave his business more customers. He experimented with technology that was not traditionally used,
like his use of the beam engine. This proved to give more speed than the

carried out recently is in relation to people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
Some is classroom based, such as Risk and Conflict Management, Autism and behaviour

In a Caring Environment). This is a physical intervention course which is practical and physical
with no desks; therefore the teaching and learning strategies are different for this course. It tends
to use a style more like EDIP (Explain, Demonstrate, Imitate and Practice). Allen s (1919) four step

I will need to include learners in agreeing their individual learning plan so ensure it meets their
needs. Ensuring the learners help write the ground rules will ensure everyone feels included.
Also using an ice breaker assists learners to feel part of a group. I will need to consider the
resources I use to ensure they meet the needs of the learners. It will be important to use a wide
variety of resources when I am teaching, the main reasons for this is to accommodate different
learning styles but also to help learner stimulation and interaction. Part of inclusive learning is
for me to be approachable and accessible, so the students feel comfortable to talk to me. 2.2
Explain how to select resources that meet the needs of learners Resources need to be appropriate
for the learning outcomes and suitable for the learner s needs or to be able to adapt it. A tutor
also needs to consider if a resource is at the correct level of ability. Resources also need to be
current and credible and of high quality. Tutors also need to consider their own ability to use the
equipment and there may be budgetary constraints to consider. All resources need to meet the

Scarlet Letter Brooding Romanticism
At the end of chapter 5, it is evident that Hester is more of a brooding Romantic; she has a tragic
confrontation with the universe around her, she isolates herself and becomes paranoid, and she
develops a dark outlook of her scarlet letter by associating it with Hell. After experiencing an
extreme amount of public humiliation, it is no surprise that Hester Prynne may think negatively
about her reality in Boston. Hester s negative outlook, a characteristic that can be credited to her
broodingly romantic personality, is clearly evident within the end of chapter 5. The cause of this
negative outlook is due to a tragic confrontation that she experiences with the world around her.
She looks beyond her own sins and has a sudden realization that in fact anyone has the ability to
transgress just as easily as she did. Hester is terror stricken by the revelations of knowing that
others sin. The fact that she is terror stricken suggests that she is now looking at the world around
her in a way she never previously had. Hester is overwhelmed with terror to realize that people are
genuinely immoral. This scene highlights a major concept of brooding romanticism: a character
having a tragic confrontation with the universe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final paragraph, those with vulgar minds are credited with contributing grotesque horror to
their conception of the scarlet letter. However, this grotesque horror is not so grotesque after all.
Hawthorne reveals that the scarlet letter being a symbol of infernal fire is more of a reality for
Hester than an actual rumor. Associating the scarlet letter with something infernal implies that it
can be connected to the idea of Hell. This yields a very dark and dire perspective of reality for
Hester, and the connection of Hester to Hell through the scarlet letter epitomizes the brooding
Romantic inside of

A Brief History Of Alzheimer s Disease
1. Introduction 1.1A brief overview of Alzheimer s diseases The life expectancy is now doubled
from the last century in the developed countries due to the revolution progress in medicine and
health mainly to chronic diseases. Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most well known and
familiar diseases in the modern societies AD was first reported by Alois Alzheimer in 1907.The
AD is the most common type of dementia and a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the
damage of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex. The health statistics report that AD disease affects
more than 50 million people worldwide in 2003, it is expected this number to increase to 114
million by 2050.(1) It is reported that AD disease affect one in three people over the age 85.(2) The
symptoms of AD include depression, apathy, anxiety, agitation, aggression, delusions,
hallucinations, wandering, and inappropriate sexual behaviours.(3) AD patients suffer from
decrease in cognitive function and short term memory. AD is characterised by the formation of
insoluble clumps of protein or plaques, formed by proteins known as ОІ amyloids. These attach to
the cell surface of neurons and disabled nerve transmission. These plaques have been
demonstrated to contain relatively high levels of Zn2+, Cu2+ and Fe3+ (1 mM, 0.4 mM and 1
mM respectively).(4) While the precise role of these metals is still uncertain, they appear to bind to
so called ОІ amyloid peptides that constitute the bulk of plaque deposits. Cu2+

Court Observation At Harris County Criminal Justice Court

Business Law
Professor Donna Kohlhausen
November 14, 2016
Court Observation Paper The court I attended was the court # 184, on October 25th 2015 at
Harris County Criminal Justice Court , located in downtown of Houston city. The Judge in
charge was Jan Krocker. It was an aggravated sexual assault of child case between The State of
Texas vs. Samuel Gallegos. As I entered the court, the trial has already commenced so I did not
really know how a real trial started. I sat in the back where the public sits, facing the judge bench.
The courtroom was cold and quiet. Especially it was very small, much smaller and less
impressive than I expected.. Everyone was in formal dressing code. There were just a few
number of spectators and family members in the court room. There was a clerk who was typing
everything what was happening during the court time. Judge Krocker appeared to have things
under control and had the proceedings moving forward smoothly. She was a very friendly lady
with short blonde hair. She was listening attentively. She spoke clearly and distinctly so that
everyone in the courtroom could hear. Samuel Gallegos is a white man about 5 8 tall. He looked
quite nervous while some police officers were standing behind him. From what I understood, this
case was really happening back in 2014 and the suspect has criminal history relating to assault of
child and another related case to this case. On my left hand side were the bailiffs while some
others stood observed

The Problem Of Complacency Is Really One Of The Major...
Complacency is definitely one of the major reasons realistic training has suffered over the last
few years. Multiple deployments, sometimes to the same area of operations, has fostered a laid
back approach to unit s road to war training. Even rotations to the Joint Readiness Training Center
(JRTC) incorporated similar scenarios that don t require too much complex thinking on behalf of
the unit. In the last year JRTC has started focusing more on the DATE scenario in preparation for
future conflicts. Units need to develop a training program to fill the gap between RL progression
and deployments or CTC rotations.
I think you bring up some good points regarding real life experience being a factor in realistic
training. As we get closer to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realistic training should start by researching the enemy we will be facing. Once the capabilities of
your enemy has been defined, planning on how to successfully defeat their technology can be
accomplished. Once a plan is developed units can begin conducting collective training starting with
the classroom and eventually building up to simulators and finally operations in the aircraft. Most
Divisions usually conduct a culminating training event every year, communicating your training
objectives to the ground unit can help to build your unit s proficiency.
Week 5 Discussion Board: Tactics Discuss the importance of realistic tactics training
In the Army we say train as you fight , this concept has been a building block for all soldiers to
follow since basic training. In some units, this concept has been ignored as multiple deployments to
the same theater has brought about a sense of complacency in the ranks. As the focus of the Army
is shifting towards a hybrid threat and we will inevitably be facing a more complex skilled enemy
with far better equipment, our approach to training needs to be re thought.
Leaders at all levels have the responsibility to ensure their subordinates are as prepared as they can
be going into a deployment. An organized training plan consisting of some individual tasks building
up to mission tasks at all echelon

Rip Van Winkle Analysis
Washington Irving, author of the short story Rip Van Winkle, writes, In a word, Rip [Van
Winkle] was ready to attend to anybody s business but his own; but as to doing family duty, and
keeping his farm in order, he found it impossible (10). Rip Van Winkle is the protagonist in this
short story, narrated by Diedrich Knickerbocker, which first appeared in 1819 in Irving s
collection of stories, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent (2). Irving sets the story in a small
Dutch colonial village near the Kaatskill Mountains and the Hudson River pre Revolutionary War
under King George III of England (5, 26 28). Van Winkle lives with his wife, Dame Van Winkle,
and his son and daughter, Rip Van Winkle
, Jr. and Judith, respectively. Dame Van Winkle is an
extremely henpecking wife; however, Van Winkle is very careless when it comes to caring for
his family and farm, which leads to his wife s nagging. Van Winkle eventually leaves home and
meets strangers in the woods, with whom he drinks liquor with; consequently, he ends up falling
asleep for what he will ultimately learn was twenty years. At this point, the setting changes to an
independent United States city post Revolutionary War under a new flag and a new leader,
President George Washington (Irving 7 24). A negative person is someone who has a multitude of
unpleasant traits; contrarily, a positive person is a person who has mainly admirable characteristics.

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any action, behavior,
or idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s accepted and followed
unquestioningly, no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The oldest denizen of the town, Old
Man Warner, points out that this is his seventy seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply
the lottery. (Dubose 1) The Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople
does not truly know what the traditionmeans but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that
drove the theme In Shirley Jacksons the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism, suspense, and
characters as she exemplifies blindly following tradition with obedience can be dangerous. The
lottery is an extreme example of what can happen when traditions are not questioned or addressed
critically by new generations because of the infamous word tradition.
Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the description of the
men s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of Mr. Summers wearing a clean
white shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may assume that we are in the twentieth century,
making the story s impact more immediate. But why does the author choose June 27 as the date on
which the village holds its lottery? The summer solstice, June 21, has already passed, and the
Fourth of July is yet to come. Lottery in June,

Summary OfDear Matafele Peinam Poem
The poem Dear Matafele Peinam by Kathy JetГ±il Kijiner is a tremendously moving poem about
climate change. To begin, two of the main symbols of this poem are the lagoon and hands. Firstly,
the lagoon symbolizes what the world could look like if people do not change. It shows the
negative aspects of the world, and it also highlights the direction Earthis going. This symbol can be
interpreted from the quote men say that one day / that lagoon will devour you (10 11). This
implies that scientists are claiming that the Earth is headed in the wrong direction, and change is
necessary before Earth devours its residents. Next, hands symbolize collaboration and change.
Whenever hands were mentioned, it was always associated with change. A few examples are
hands reaching out / fists raising up (62 63) and marching with signs / hand in hand / chanting for
change NOW (80 82). These are powerful statements about rallies and statements about change.
The hands are symbols of how the only way to save the planet for the future generations is to
collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal.
Furthermore, this poem heavily uses a mixture of literal and figurative imagery. One of my
favourite examples of imagery in this poem was hands reaching out / fists raising up / banners
unfurling / megaphones booming (JetГ±il Kijiner 62 65). This quote allows the reader to
imagine the protests and the movements that people are trying to do in order to save the planet.
That was a case of extremely powerful and inspiring literal imagery as it shows people s fight for
change. This is an example of people who are fighting to save the planet for not only the current
generation but for future generations as well. There are also several examples of figurative imagery,
the most prominent is personification. An example of personification is they say [the lagoon] will
gnaw at the shoreline / chew at the roots of your breadfruit trees / gulp down rows of your
seawalls / and crunch your island s shattered bones (12 15). In this example, it is talking about the
repercussions of climate change and what the future will look like if people do not change. The use
of personification helps the reader understand the awful things that can

Canada s Electoral System
It has become widely accepted that Canada uses a first past the post electoral system. However, this
system may not be in the best interest of Canada any more. There are many reasons why Canada
should change its electoral system to a mixed member proportional one, a variant of proportional
representation. With a first past the post system, the elected officials will always be of the majority
and this excludes minorities from fair representation. Adopting MMP can create stronger voter
turnouts, more personal campaigning, better individual representation, and better party selection.
John Hiemstra and Harold Janson, are both in favour of a MMP electoral system. They understand
that with the switch, the citizens will get more representation in... Show more content on

One can come to a conclusion that plurality systems have a major flaw and that is inequality.
Adopting a MMP would be a huge step forward in Canadian democracy. With a MMP system in
place, more women would be elected to the legislature because it creates fairness. With more
women in the legislature, it can make a substantial difference in the types of laws that may be
proposed and passed. Another advantage MMP brings to Canada is instead of electing one
member of the legislature in each small district, Canada would use larger districts to elect several
members. To add to this advantage, the candidates that win the seats in these multi member
districts are determined by the proportion of votes each party receives. With Canada s current
electoral system, one citizen s vote counts for less than another citizen s vote. By changing to a
MMP system, Canada can give more equality and fairness back to the citizens.
Proportional representation is almost always acknowledged as the fairest electoral system. With this
in mind, many still reject a mixed member proportional system. Critics argue that the current
method has produced a stable and effective government, while MMP would create an ineffective
government. Wiseman feels that since Canada has been consistently stable, our electoral system
does not need to be changed. Hiemstra and Jansen disagree with the plurality system that is
currently in place for it does not produce fair

How Muscles Vary In Size And Shape
Muscles vary in size and shape for particular reasons, first of all that variation of shapes and sizes
truly facilitate different movements in our body and provide different amounts of endurance and
strength. To give an example, our mouth serves an important role in our body, it lets food/water
inside and also maintains unnecessary guests on the outside by closing, without such muscles like
those in the mouth being in a circular shape they wouldn t be able to contract as efficiently to close
and open the mouth opening. Muscles are shaped based on the movement/role by which they are
meant to produce, shape goes hand in hand with function. In the human body there are 5 types of
different muscleshapes, each allowing for particular movement to occur. The 5 types of muscle
shapes are parallel, circular, convergent, fusiform, pennate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For the most part parallel muscles are long and tend to produce large movements, while they are not
that strong they have a good amount of endurance. This particular type of muscle is the most
abundant in the human body, some examples of parallel muscles include the Sartorius, which is
perhaps one of the most well known in this category and my personal favorite the
sternocleidomastoid.
Circular muscles also as their name suggests have a circular shape they are also known as sphincter
muscles, they usually surround openings in the body and produce movement that close such
openings among contraction. Most common examples of circular muscles are the muscles that
surround the mouth and orbicularis oculi (surround the eyes).
Convergent muscles have origins that are wider than the point of insertion, the particular way its
muscle fibers are arranged allow the muscle to produce high levels of force production. One of the
most well know of such muscles include the pectoralis major, the

been a part of our history for nearly 6,000 years and some say that they have been around longer

devastating natural disasters known to man. Volcanic hazards and eruptions continue to happen

important.
Mount Saint Helens, located in the Cascade Volcanic Arc, is known to be one of the most
deadliest and disruptive volcanic eruptions in recent history. It has a height of roughly 8,300 feet

Misery. When they had to decided to make decisions for the gangit was made through voting. T or

under the leadership of T and which the story ended with the destruction of the house.
The story reflects action and adventure, since the gang would do things that can be considered as
daring, especially for their age. The story also has a mix of suspense, especially on the last part
wherein Mr. Thomas had gone back home earlier than expected. Nevertheless, the short storyis not
merely a fiction made to entertain its readers rather, it reflects the factual realities viewed during the
period it pertains such as delinquency, war and human nature. This essay would analyze the story in
connection to the delinquency and war which reveals human nature. Human nature would be
discussed as something that is subjective and relative to the perspective and position of the

Code Duello Research Paper
During many duels, the opponents follow Code Duello . In the book by Ellis, Code duello is
followed in one of the most historically and influential American duels. This duel helped change the
views of many people. This duel is important historically and politically. Therefore, this duel is
important for the shaping of America. Even politicians get into fights after their arguments.
However, during the colonial periods, these fights were known as duels. One of the most famous
duels is mentioned in the book and is between Aaron Burrand Alexander Hamilton. The duelhas
certain rules to keep injury as minimal as possible. As well as to prevent any arguments or
battles between families or political parties. There are many different versions on how the duel
happened. The most well known one starts off like this On the morning of July 11, 1804, Arron
Burr and Alexander Hamilton were rowed across the Hudson River in separate boats to a secluded
spot near Weehawken, New Jersey.(page 20,p1,1 3). After they get out of the boat the shot the

but out of fear for the nation. Also states how Hamilton referred to Burr as Catiline (known as
destroyer of the republic). On page 32, the author tell us his point of view and what he really

Effective Knowledge Sharing Process And Procedure For...
Introduction
The purpose is to identify the enablers of the effective knowledge sharing with constraints of
different work shifts. In the organization, face to face interaction was difficult to share the tacit
knowledge with people working in 2 different shifts (11:30 AM to 8:00 10:30 PM to 6:00 AM).
This case study is focused on knowledge sharing process and procedure to train and prepare the
new work force to work individually.
Hays Business Solutions is the subsidiary of the Hays Inc which primarily deals with the
recruitment. Hays Inc is operational in 33 countries. HBS was formed to provide the IT technical
solutions and support to the recruitment process. In November 2015, HBS commenced the US
shift to provide the online support services to the customers in US. As part of the strategic plan,
11 new members were hired to specifically work for the night shift. These peoples were provided
the training sessions to fit in their respective roles.
Objective
The Objective of this case study is to identify and understand the enabler for the organization s
performance, and to develop the integrated Model to represent the scenario for the firm. This case
study also aims to help identify the misconduct and the inappropriate practices and to suggest the
solution for the knowledge creation and analysis of the counter measures taken by the firm after
facing this problem.

Teaser: Bright red blood on your stool could mean you have an anal fissure.
Article:
A painful bowel movement accompanied by blood in the toilet bowl can be frightening, but it s not
uncommon. Especially if you re frequently constipated and strain to pass hard stools. Anal fissures
are small tears in the thin, moist tissue that lines the anus, and typically cause pain, bleeding and
even spasms. But you don t have to suffer. Here are 10 natural treatments that can promote healing
and help relieve discomfort.
Signs you have an anal fissure
If you experienced pain, somewhat severe, during a bowel movement you may have stretched the

Add one tablespoon of dried comfrey to one cup of hot water. Allow to steep for 15 minutes. Strain
and let cool. Use the comfrey solution to clean the affected area two times a day. Alternatively, you
can use an over the counter comfrey ointment on the affected area twice a day.
Apple Cider Vinegar
No, you re not going to put apple cider vinegar on your anus. Constipation and straining during
bowel movements can further worsen anal fissures. Apple cider vinegar can help treat
constipation. Add one to two tablespoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a glass of
water. You can add raw honey if you choose. Drink it twice daily to relieve constipation. If your

Essay about The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein
THE HOBBIT
BY J.R.R. TOLKIEN
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a story of adventure and danger, and it is a prime example of a
romantic plot and fantasy genre. What makes this story such a great example of a romantic plot?
One, the unlikely hero, Mr. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit that is dragged on an adventure he doesn t
wish to take. Second, there is a great quest with a reward at its end. Third the great teacher figure,
Gandalf is a wizard that helps Bilbo to become the great hero he is destined to be. And lastly the
dragon figure, in this story the dragon figure, happened to be a dragon but there are also many

The quest begins when the group meets at the Green Dragon Inn. From there they venture into
the Lone lands. As heavy rains begin to fall, Bilbo notices that Gandalf is missing. This is
something that is later on considered to be normal because Gandalf comes and goes throughout
the duration of the trip. All through the quest Bilbo ends up saving the party from many
dangerous situations. This is something that at first Bilbo finds hard to believe because he has
very low self esteem. The group always seems to find themselves in worse, and worse problems,
but they always overcome these problems, with the help of Bilbo and some times Gandalf. Some
of these problems include: getting caught by trolls, getting captured by goblins, being attacked by
large wolves called Wargs, one of the dwarves falls into a coma from touching black water in the
Mirkwood Forest, nearly dying of starvation, being captured by large spiders and being captured by
wood elves. Although this is all very good action, the real action begins when the party finally
reaches their destination Lonely Mountain (home of Smaug).
On Lonely Mountain, in order to sneak into Smaug s lair, Bilbo puts on his magic ring, which
turns him invisible. He talks to the dragon for a while and gets the dragon to show him the under

Ttc s Subway System
INTRODUCTION
This report uses operations research methods to prioritize the installation of transit accessibility
upgrades on the Toronto Transit Commission subway system.
The distance people with mobility challenges must travel to accessible stations was minimized
during incremental system improvements using nonlinear programming with binary decision
variables. The process was performed using Excel s Solver feature, and based on TTC data and
distance data scraped from Google Maps using the gmapsdistance R package. The result was a list

SOLUTION EVALUATION
Excel s solver function was used to walk through all meaningful values for the resource constraint,
yielding a satisficing prioritized project schedule. The decrease in the objective function looks
approximately exponential, typical of a Pareto distribution. The formulation of the problem allows
low direct cost stations to be prioritized in the case that they lower the cost of adjacent stations. The
full prioritized schedule is shown in Table 2. These results show that improvements at
Islington, Coxwell, College, Sherbourne, Runnymede, and Rosedale would have indirect benefits
that make improvements more valuable than present day contributions to the objective function
suggest. Conversely, while those indirect benefits result in other improvements having lower than
expected utility. The stations affected are Royal York, Woodbine, Wellesley, High Park,
Greenwood, Castle
Frank, and Summerhill. Some of these stations are still high priority, such as Royal
York, but improvements will be less effective than expected based on ridership.
When comparing the plan the TTC currently has regarding the order of station to be upgraded with

Thesis For The Lottery
Being stoned to death by 300 of your friends and family is possibly the worst way anyone would
ever want to be killed. In the short story The Lottery written by an author Shirley Jackson, she
mentions about a small village consisting of 300 residents who most reluctantly participate in an
annual lottery drawing. I know, who in their right mind would hesitate to be a part of an event that
gives you a possibility of winning a prize, which makes you wonder what the prize is. At the end of
the story the protagonist, Mrs. Hutchinson, who also happens to be the winner of the lotteryis stoned
to death. I argue that Jackson wrote this story to inform us how living in a small community isn t
always a great thing because in a small population people start gossiping about one another, which
can lead to issues and could turn into hatred.

One can say that there are certain demons that inhabit the closest people in your life, such as
betrayal and jealousy to protect themselves. To shed more light on this, in the short story The
Lottery stated that, And someone gave little Davy Hutchinson a few pebbles and closes in on her

strong bonds one has with their own family members. Furthermore, after seeing a movie clip of this
story, I seen Davy Hutchinson and Mr. Hutchinson moving away from Mrs. Hutchinson in a clam
way, they had no expression in their face that made them look hurt after what was going to happen
to Mrs. Hutchison (Jackson, Rando). I think that Jackson was showing us that your own family

The European Union And Domestic Legal Systems And The...
The concern here was that the lawyers do not have any certifications, schooling, or experience in
judging cases. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia
Malmstrom explains:
the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose
which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again,
like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which
might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just
like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom)
This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be
more weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European
Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much
discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high
developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems
are already able to make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig,
responded to this argument in a debate about the new ICS. Schiegelmich explained that even
though these court systems are highly developed, it is very hard to completely eliminate national
bias. He adds to that that European

Longing For The Sea Green Deep
Longing for the Sea Green Deep Love, like anything else, is born irrevocably from chance. The
infinite decisions made each day by each person are what govern the world and it s from this
mess, this entanglement of choices that we then make our own. All of human history is wound
up in itself, and no one event can accurately be viewed in isolation. To trace a line from the
beginning of time to a single occurrence and describe that chain as inevitable would be an
impossible task. But with this model of coincidence and a fundamental lack of recurrence
everything is, as Kundera would put it, unbearably light. How can we possibly find any meaning,

As Kundera correctly points out, there s something unbearable in the thought that a love that
feels so necessary could just as easily have never have occurred at all. Tomas gives us two
opposing ideas, there s the Es muss sein that he looks for in his love with Tereza, but also the
phrase Einmal ist keinmal...(What happens but once, might as well have not happened at all)
(8). For Kundera, coincidence is proof of lightness, since the singularity of experience is
lightness, and coincidence betrays that singularity, telling us that in any alternate turn of events
(a different coincidence) things could have gone a different way. He presents two systems, one
in which fate controls our actions, and a greater meaning exists, and another in which our lives
are meaningless because of their abrupt and coincidental nature. This second system is the one
Kundera tells us exists, but just like Tereza and Tomas, Kundera tells us we re driven toward the
meaning fate provides: We all reject out of hand the idea that the love of our life may be
something light or weightless; we presume our love is what must be, that without it our life would
no longer be the same; we feel that Beethoven himself, gloomy and awe inspiring, is playing the

Medea Essay
Euripides always expressed his point of views towards the culture of Ancient Greeks, mostly
hatred and enmity. However his safety was a major concern due to the irrational behaviour of the
ancient Greeks and his close friends and family members. Thus he expressed his notions by giving
speaking power to his characters. Medeahas been given the same property. In Medea, Euripides
discusses exclusively about the gender segregation and inequality. He criticises men for
considering themselves a dominant figure of the society. However this criticism is presented in
form of a tragedy which unfolds in the city of Corinth. Medea, a contrast of the ancient Greek

This power provided her a strong base to plan for revenge from Jason. As mentioned, her cruelty
had no set boundaries and limitations. Thus she didn t hesitate to continue with her cruel plan
and murdered the princess in attempt to revenge Jason. Executing her plan was a suicidal
attempt and hence she managed to escape due to her future planning. This symbolises the true
ambition and desire of Medea and her determination and so Euripides also conveys his ideology
about women. Medea, a distinct character conveys strong message across the audience and
allows them to reconsider the legal rights of women. Not in the modern era but in the ancient
times, recognition of women was a major dilemma for the society. Other than that Euripides
tries to justify Medea s evilness by providing reasons and by letting Medea express her love for
Jason. She chooses vengeance over law, this doesn t only show the dignity of Medea, it also
presents the deep emotions of hers which conquered her mind and forced her to commit an
unforgivable crime. After all she did for Jason, she only asked for his loyalty and integrity. Upon
Jason s betrayal, Medea shattered into pieces as she trusted Jason and his moral values. Jason s
compelling behaviour turned Medea into an evil who later turns into a murderer of the royal family

Essay On The Word Finesse

changes based on the era it was in.

The word finesse is also popular in the music and film industry. There is a song titled Break Em

stating If yeen coming with no cash, All I wanted was the change ( Savages Break em. ) She is
implying that she used the guy only for his money. She didn t steal it from him but she used her
ability to finesse money from him. The song uses several lines that mean almost the same. Break

Food Bank And Moral Model Analysis
Being able to acknowledge the one in need of help, really can make a difference. There are many
ways of helping through the small deeds, but also through the greater ones, such as food banks.
The two models discussed in class covered a moral model, in which help is based off of a
personal characteristic (Collver: September 20, 2017). And the other is the charity model in which
it is the practice of help emerging from the notions of mortality (attitudes and beliefs about the right
and wrong) (Collver: September 20, 2017). Both models are influenced by a moral discourse of
deservingness. Within the learnings in class and through discussions in tutorials, I can reflect that
the notion of helping through foodbanks or from any form of help in that matter, is not always
wanted. Some individuals refuse to accept the help they receive because they believe that others
think of them as weak . There is often pity associated with wanting to help. However, there are
also people who take food banks for granted because they are getting free food and not making an

Ships were important in the growth of the fishing industry, and the growth of one led to the
growth of the other (Foner, VOF, 50). Coastal towns also grew as people settled on the banks to
provide employment as well as gain from the expansive world. The ship making industry was
support by the availability of trees and forests which provided ship making materials. Some of
these were transported by the waterways such as rivers and all the way down to the coast. With
the increase in the number of ships came more traffic and more globe trotting. This also enhanced
international trade and especially the Transatlantic Triangular Trade. This is where the three
continents, Europe went to Africa to get slaves who would work on the plantations in America
from where the Europeans would carry the raw materials back home which would be
manufactured into finished goods. This also helps in explain the last usage of waterways and
bodies and their economic effect. In the transport industry, before the railroads came, people used
water bodies to transport heavy and large cargo. Water bodies were the only linkage between

prominent Aboriginal who has been portrayed on the front of our Australian national currency
since 1995. He was a particularly intelligent man, who was reputable as an inventor and the first
Indigenous author, who wrote newspaper articles to fight for Indigenous studies and their rights.
Another prominent figure on the reverse side of the note is Edith Cowan. She was well known as
an Australian disputant who stood up for women s and children s welfares also rights. She was

Student Assistant Job Application
1.I am applying for the Student Assistant position in the Undergraduate Admissions office
because I am passionate about Simmons College and meeting new people! In my past
experiences, I loved my jobs concerning customer service and helping people. I have worked in
both a communications department and a customer service department, and as a receptionist.
Being able to spend part of my day assisting people with their questions and helping my
coworkers made me excited to go to work. I also found comfort in completing tasks, and would
gladly take on even the most thought to be tedious projects. I would love to be able to combine my

Analysis Of The Book American Way By Gary Althen
I was always interested in understand wf the american (capitalize proper nouns) culture. When I
first came here I noticed that americans are really independent and self reliant individuals, so for
the research I chose the topic American friendship so I could understand better what americans
think about friendship. According to the author of the book American Ways (written by Gary
Althen with Janet Bennet), americans do not like to feel dependent on someone or that
someone become V dependent on them. The author also said that americans have different
groups of friends. Friends to go to the movie, to study, and so on. For my research I interviewed
15 americans, namely 12 students of the University of Arkansas and 3 older friends of mine (a
couple and one other friend) that I met because of a program of the UofA. The interviewees
were between 20 and 50 years of age. Some of the students I already knew and a few others was s
/v random students. My survey had simple questions that I though sp would be interesting to
ask. Such as(P), what do they expect from a friendship, what are they prepare VT to give for a
friend and if they have any international friends. Since I am a art international student and for me
it has been a little hard to get to know them as a friend, I thought about this last question. The
interviewees seemed surprised when I asked about the type (gender) of friends they had. Both
male and female was he majority of art. responses (87%). Only 2 girls from

Introduction Of Romanticism In Frankenstein
INTRODUCTION
Romanticism has its start in the late eighteenth century s Germany, quickly spreading throughout
Europe and the United States of America, as a cultural, literary, musical and artistic movement,
pulling groups of people together, forming a powerful, shared attitude of care towards the concept
of existence itself. Being a direct reaction to the rationalistic point of view of the Enlightenment and
the strict forms of classical beauty, Romanticism is characterised by irrationalism, sentimentalism,
individualism and the adoration of nature, making it quite controversial compared to the
movements that came before and, therefore, very original and shocking .
My interest in sentimentality starts long ago before I can remember as I ... Show more content on

François René de Chateaubriand starts publishing his literary works already at the start of the
century, all of which contain numerous romantic characteristics: mystery, the unknown, and
aesthetics, claiming that nature in its totality is the ultimate muse of all artistic creations. He is in
fact considered the father of French Romanticism, despite not having belonged to the movement
itself. However, MГЁditations PoГ©tiques by Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine, from
1920 must be the real start of French Romanticism, focusing on autobiographical and historical
storytelling, with non romantic elements, like the attention given to the poor, typical of Realism,
seen in their most representative Romantic: Victor Hugo

Breast Feeding Across Cultures
Breast feeding has been in practice for a very long time, as early as 2000 BC. Before the
invention of formula, bottles, and pumps this was the safest most common way for a mother to
feed their infants. In fact, for 99% of human history breast milk was the sole source of nutrition
for children until the age of two. In today s society there are many different and opposing
personal stand points on where or not a mother should breast feed their children. It is a very
controversial topic with many variables. In breast feeding there are several benefits, reasons, and
cultural effects that go into making the decision to engage or stay away from breast feeding. There
is also historical causes and cultural differences that lead influence a mothers... Show more content

The formula in today s society is much more advanced and acceptable. Another reason is that
breast feeding is painful and time consuming. Another common reason to not breast feed is that
many women want to return to work and not be limited to the places they can go such as
restaurants and stores that do not allow breast feeding. There is historical evidence of this all over
the world. In Israel around 2000 BC, children were deemed a blessing, and breastfeeding was
considered a religious obligation. Breastfeeding was not always possible, however, due to lactation
failure of the mother In Greece around 950 BC, women of higher social status frequently
demanded wet nurses. Wet nurses were women that were paid to breast feed new babies when
their biological mothers were not able to accomplish it. Breast feeding a child was widely
accepted as the thing to do and even though it was uncomfortable and inconvenient many mothers
took part in it. It was also common for fathers to watch the process and in turn it was a bonding
experience for the whole family and eventually, wet nurses acquired a position of accountability and
authority. The Bible even notes various examples of wet nurses
At the climax of the Roman Empire, between 300 BC and 400 AD, written contracts were formed
with wet nurses to feed orphaned or unwanted infants which were mostly females thrown out. The
wealthy purchased the infant as an inexpensive slave for future use, and the wet nurses, who were

Criminal Justice System Vs Preliminary Hearing
A case that results in a grand jury true bill does not have a preliminary hearing. Alongside that,
cases that are a result of a direct filing or information will have a preliminary hearing scheduled.
The hearing is then held before a lower court judge, and is shorter and less formal than the actual
trial. In all preliminary hearings, hearsay or unconfirmed testimonies are admissible, whereas it is
not admissible at during the trial except for very specific instances. A preliminary hearing is not
mandatory, and can be waived by the defendant, if he/she so chooses to. During the preliminary
hearing, the court has to look at the evidence obtained in the most favorable to the prosecution. The
prosecution can decide to call a witness up to the stand to testify, but most often the prosecution
does not do so. After the preliminary hearing the defense counsel can decide not to call any
witnesses as well, then they will present their case to the court. After both sides finish presenting
their cases to the court, the judge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our criminal justice system, the defendant is entitled to be represented by a defense attorney, a
person charged with a crime can be represented by a private counsel or, if the defendant doesn t
have the funds for a private defense attorney, the Public Defender s office will then provide legal
assistance to the defendant. Other options for the less fortunate defendants are to be represented by
a private attorney appointed by the judge, at the government s expense. The defense attorney is
required to represent his/her client within the limits of the law, this means that the defense attorney
must do anything possible to get rid of any reasonable doubt on the prosecution s case and gain the
best possible result for their client to either prove their client s innocence or lessen the charge
against them, (Silver, S.

Forbidden Love In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet My only love, sprung from my only hate, too early seen unknown, and known
to hate. (Act I, Scene VI, Lines 136 137) The classic tale of the tragic love story Romeo and Juliet
has been told time and time again to dozens of generations. This play tells the story of Romeo
Montague and Juliet Capuletand their forbidden love. The Montague s and Capulet s have been
feuding for as long as anyone in Verona can remember, but one night young Juliet met a masked
stranger at a ball and they fall in love. She ends up discovering this stranger is Romeo Montague
and it is forbidden to have any connection with one of the Montagues, let alone a relationship. Both
her and Romeo decide to keep their love a secret and continue to be together. This causes many
problems in the story including Lord Capulet threatening to disown Juliet if she continued to see
Romeo and there being a miscommunication where Romeo thought Juliet has died and commits
suicide because he could never live without her; where in fact she was under a sleeping potion so
her family would think... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If their parents or the townsfolk found out about a Capulet loving a Montague, havoc would
rein. Both of them would have most likely been disowned by their parents and banished from
Verona. There was also the possibility of violence breaking out between the two families if news
of this relationship surfaced. The play s use of secrecy is needed to help create and progress the
story line. If Romeo or Juliet would have either decided to tell their parents about their
relationship sooner or would have married other people; the story would have either been
incredibly short or boring. The aspect of family feuds, true love, and civil battles all help make
the play more intriguing, enticing, and iconic. Their choice of secrecy also shows how they truly
loved one another and were willing to face challenges and adversity for each

Why Do You Think Tristan Is A 22-Year-American
Case Study Tristan is a 22 year old, female, who self identifies as a European American, and
strictly follows the Roman Catholic faith. She was referred to Mazzitti and Sullivan Counseling
Services by her mother due to her antisocial behavior towards family outings, depression, and
aggressive outbursts towards her mother and brothers after the loss of her grandfather six months
ago. As you walk into the lobby to great Tristan, you notice her calm demeanor and curiosity of the
agency. You greet Tristan with a friendly hello, a handshake, and welcome her back to your office.
Three months ago, Tristan lost her grandfather to a moderate case of pneumonia. Prior to this
illness, he had cancer in one lung and had it remove. Due to having one lung, the doctor informed
that he has a low chance of surviving. While her grandfather was in the hospital, Tristan made the
time to visit him as much as she could. Sometimes, she would bring her school work with her and
studied while her grandfather slept. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of David Foster Wallace s Consider The Lobster
In Consider the Lobster, David Foster Wallace asks his readers to consider if eating lobsters or
other animals is ethical. He describes how lobsters show a preference to not be boiled by their
efforts to avoid or escape the pan. He argues that this preference is proof that the lobster suffers
or feels pain. However, he ignores the fact that the same argument can be made about plants.
While working in landscaping, I discovered that grasses produce a chemical in distress right
before they are cut from a lawnmower or attacked by insects. This shows that the grass prefers to
not be cut or eaten just as the lobsterdid. As humans, we must eat either plants or animals to
survive. If both plants and animals feel pain and show a preference to live,... Show more content on

We all have a moral obligation to attempt to leave the world in a better place for future
generations. While this is an impossible task, by making an attempt we will leave it better off
than if we did not try. Overfishing has endangered cod, salmon, bluefin tuna, halibut, and
countless other species. Primates, lions, elephants, and dolphins are all endangered, but are still
a source of food in some countries. If we don t make changes soon our children and
grandchildren may never have the opportunity to see these animals. It is unethical to endanger
the existence of any plant or animal by eating it. There are some cases where eating an
endangered plant or animal is beneficial. In The World s Most Endangered Food, Rachel Nuwer
discusses how mass production farming is causing some breeds of animals and varieties of
plants to go extinct. Farmers are only using a couple of breeds or varieties to maximize profits.
Ninety percent of cattle used in the dairy industry now come from one breed (Nuwer). In the
United States, eighty six percent of apple varieties from historical records are now extinct and
several more are endangered (Nuwer). In these cases, the food is endangered due to lack of
demand. Purchasing and eating these foods may actually help keep them from going extinct. As
global warming continues to change our weather, keeping these plants and animals from going
extinct could play a

In The House of the Scorpion, Nancy Farmer states, No one can tell the difference between a
clone and a human. That s because there isn t any difference. The idea of clones being inferior is a

impose false allegations on him throughout his life. The belief that Matt is dangerous, a useless

Cornelius Vanderbilt was an entrepreneur who attempted to break monopolies in the steamboat industry. Vanderbilt tried to run those who used government subsidies out of business by charging less and providing better service. However, from other perspectives, his methods were immoral. Because of this, the question of whether Vanderbilt was a hero or a villain arose. Even so, it can be seen that Vanderbilt helped the economy of the steamship industry. Vanderbilt used different methods that gave his business more customers. He experimented with technology that was not traditionally used, like his use of the beam engine. • 6. Scarlet Letter Brooding Romanticism At the end of chapter 5, it is evident that Hester is more of a brooding Romantic; she has a tragic confrontation with the universe around her, she isolates herself and becomes paranoid, and she develops a dark outlook of her scarlet letter by associating it with Hell. After experiencing an extreme amount of public humiliation, it is no surprise that Hester Prynne may think negatively about her reality in Boston. Hester s negative outlook, a characteristic that can be credited to her broodingly romantic personality, is clearly evident within the end of chapter 5. The cause of this negative outlook is due to a tragic confrontation that she experiences with the world around her. She looks beyond her own sins and has a sudden realization that in fact anyone has the ability to transgress just as easily as she did. Hester is terror stricken by the revelations of knowing that others sin. The fact that she is terror stricken suggests that she is now looking at the world around her in a way she never previously had. Hester is overwhelmed with terror to realize that people are genuinely immoral. This scene highlights a major concept of brooding romanticism: a character having a tragic confrontation with the universe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final paragraph, those with vulgar minds are credited with contributing grotesque horror to their conception of the scarlet letter. However, this grotesque horror is not so grotesque after all. Hawthorne reveals that the scarlet letter being a symbol of infernal fire is more of a reality for Hester than an actual rumor. Associating the scarlet letter with something infernal implies that it can be connected to the idea of Hell. This yields a very dark and dire perspective of reality for Hester, and the connection of Hester to Hell through the scarlet letter epitomizes the brooding Romantic inside of ... Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most well known and familiar diseases in the modern societies AD was first reported by Alois Alzheimer in 1907.The AD is the most common type of dementia and a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the damage of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex. Court Observation At Harris County Criminal Justice Court Quan Nguyen Business Law Professor Donna Kohlhausen November 14, 2016 Court Observation Paper The court I attended was the court # 184, on October 25th 2015 at Harris County Criminal Justice Court , located in downtown of Houston city. The Judge in charge was Jan Krocker. It was an aggravated sexual assault of child case between The State of Texas vs. Samuel Gallegos. As I entered the court, the trial has already commenced so I did not really know how a real trial started. I sat in the back where the public sits, facing the judge bench. The courtroom was cold and quiet. Especially it was very small, much smaller and less impressive than I expected.. Everyone was in formal dressing code. There were just a few number of spectators and family members in the court room. There was a clerk who was typing everything what was happening during the court time. Judge Krocker appeared to have things under control and had the proceedings moving forward smoothly. She was a very friendly lady with short blonde hair. She was listening attentively. She spoke clearly and distinctly so that everyone in the courtroom could hear. Samuel Gallegos is a white man about 5 8 tall. He looked quite nervous while some police officers were standing behind him. From what I understood, this case was really happening back in 2014 and the suspect has criminal history relating to assault of child and another related case to this case. • 10. The Problem Of Complacency Is Really One Of The Major... Complacency is definitely one of the major reasons realistic training has suffered over the last few years. Multiple deployments, sometimes to the same area of operations, has fostered a laid back approach to unit s road to war training. Even rotations to the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) incorporated similar scenarios that don t require too much complex thinking on behalf of the unit. In the last year JRTC has started focusing more on the DATE scenario in preparation for future conflicts. Units need to develop a training program to fill the gap between RL progression and deployments or CTC rotations. I think you bring up some good points regarding real life experience being a factor in realistic training. As we get closer to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Realistic training should start by researching the enemy we will be facing. Once the capabilities of your enemy has been defined, planning on how to successfully defeat their technology can be accomplished. Once a plan is developed units can begin conducting collective training starting with the classroom and eventually building up to simulators and finally operations in the aircraft. Most Divisions usually conduct a culminating training event every year, communicating your training objectives to the ground unit can help to build your unit s proficiency. Week 5 Discussion Board: Tactics Discuss the importance of realistic tactics training In the Army we say train as you fight , this concept has been a building block for all soldiers to follow since basic training. In some units, this concept has been ignored as multiple deployments to the same theater has brought about a sense of complacency in the ranks. As the focus of the Army is shifting towards a hybrid threat and we will inevitably be facing a more complex skilled enemy with far better equipment, our approach to training needs to be re thought. Rip Van Winkle Analysis Washington Irving, author of the short story Rip Van Winkle, writes, In a word, Rip [Van Winkle] was ready to attend to anybody s business but his own; but as to doing family duty, and keeping his farm in order, he found it impossible (10). Rip Van Winkle is the protagonist in this short story, narrated by Diedrich Knickerbocker, which first appeared in 1819 in Irving s collection of stories, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent (2). Irving sets the story in a small Dutch colonial village near the Kaatskill Mountains and the Hudson River pre Revolutionary War under King George III of England (5, 26 28). Van Winkle lives with his wife, Dame Van Winkle, and his son and daughter, Rip Van Winkle , Jr. and Judith, respectively. Dame Van Winkle is an extremely henpecking wife; however, Van Winkle is very careless when it comes to caring for his family and farm, which leads to his wife s nagging. Van Winkle eventually leaves home and meets strangers in the woods, with whom he drinks liquor with; consequently, he ends up falling asleep for what he will ultimately learn was twenty years. At this point, the setting changes to an independent United States city post Revolutionary War under a new flag and a new leader, President George Washington (Irving 7 24). • 14. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any action, behavior, or idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s accepted and followed unquestioningly, no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The oldest denizen of the town, Old Man Warner, points out that this is his seventy seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply the lottery. (Dubose 1) The Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople does not truly know what the traditionmeans but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that drove the theme In Shirley Jacksons the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism, suspense, and characters as she exemplifies blindly following tradition with obedience can be dangerous. The lottery is an extreme example of what can happen when traditions are not questioned or addressed critically by new generations because of the infamous word tradition. Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the description of the men s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of Mr. Summers wearing a clean white shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may assume that we are in the twentieth century, making the story s impact more immediate. But why does the author choose June 27 as the date on which the village holds its lottery? The summer solstice, June 21, has already passed, and the Fourth of July is yet to come. • 15. Summary OfDear Matafele Peinam Poem The poem Dear Matafele Peinam by Kathy JetГ±il Kijiner is a tremendously moving poem about climate change. To begin, two of the main symbols of this poem are the lagoon and hands. Firstly, the lagoon symbolizes what the world could look like if people do not change. It shows the negative aspects of the world, and it also highlights the direction Earthis going. This symbol can be interpreted from the quote men say that one day / that lagoon will devour you (10 11). This implies that scientists are claiming that the Earth is headed in the wrong direction, and change is necessary before Earth devours its residents. Next, hands symbolize collaboration and change. Whenever hands were mentioned, it was always associated with change. A few examples are hands reaching out / fists raising up (62 63) and marching with signs / hand in hand / chanting for change NOW (80 82). These are powerful statements about rallies and statements about change. The hands are symbols of how the only way to save the planet for the future generations is to collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. Furthermore, this poem heavily uses a mixture of literal and figurative imagery. One of my favourite examples of imagery in this poem was hands reaching out / fists raising up / banners unfurling / megaphones booming (JetГ±il Kijiner 62 65). This quote allows the reader to imagine the protests and the movements that people are trying to do in order to save the planet. That was a case of extremely powerful and inspiring literal imagery as it shows people s fight for change. This is an example of people who are fighting to save the planet for not only the current generation but for future generations as well. There are also several examples of figurative imagery, the most prominent is personification. An example of personification is they say [the lagoon] will gnaw at the shoreline / chew at the roots of your breadfruit trees / gulp down rows of your seawalls / and crunch your island s shattered bones (12 15). In this example, it is talking about the repercussions of climate change and what the future will look like if people do not change. The use of personification helps the reader understand the awful things that can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Canada s Electoral System It has become widely accepted that Canada uses a first past the post electoral system. However, this system may not be in the best interest of Canada any more. There are many reasons why Canada should change its electoral system to a mixed member proportional one, a variant of proportional representation. With a first past the post system, the elected officials will always be of the majority and this excludes minorities from fair representation. Adopting MMP can create stronger voter turnouts, more personal campaigning, better individual representation, and better party selection. John Hiemstra and Harold Janson, are both in favour of a MMP electoral system. They understand that with the switch, the citizens will get more representation in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can come to a conclusion that plurality systems have a major flaw and that is inequality. Adopting a MMP would be a huge step forward in Canadian democracy. With a MMP system in place, more women would be elected to the legislature because it creates fairness. With more women in the legislature, it can make a substantial difference in the types of laws that may be proposed and passed. Another advantage MMP brings to Canada is instead of electing one member of the legislature in each small district, Canada would use larger districts to elect several members. To add to this advantage, the candidates that win the seats in these multi member districts are determined by the proportion of votes each party receives. With Canada s current electoral system, one citizen s vote counts for less than another citizen s vote. By changing to a MMP system, Canada can give more equality and fairness back to the citizens. Proportional representation is almost always acknowledged as the fairest electoral system. With this in mind, many still reject a mixed member proportional system. Critics argue that the current method has produced a stable and effective government, while MMP would create an ineffective government. Wiseman feels that since Canada has been consistently stable, our electoral system does not need to be changed. How Muscles Vary In Size And Shape Muscles vary in size and shape for particular reasons, first of all that variation of shapes and sizes truly facilitate different movements in our body and provide different amounts of endurance and strength. To give an example, our mouth serves an important role in our body, it lets food/water inside and also maintains unnecessary guests on the outside by closing, without such muscles like those in the mouth being in a circular shape they wouldn t be able to contract as efficiently to close and open the mouth opening. Muscles are shaped based on the movement/role by which they are meant to produce, shape goes hand in hand with function. Circular muscles also as their name suggests have a circular shape they are also known as sphincter muscles, they usually surround openings in the body and produce movement that close such openings among contraction. Most common examples of circular muscles are the muscles that surround the mouth and orbicularis oculi (surround the eyes). The European Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. The two models discussed in class covered a moral model, in which help is based off of a personal characteristic (Collver: September 20, 2017).
