The Sunni-Shia Conflict
The historic background of the Sunni Shia lies in the schism that occurred when the Islamic prophet
Mohammed died in the 632, leading to a dispute over succession to Mohammed as a caliph of the
Islamic community spread across various parts of the world, which led to the battel of Safin. The
dispute intensified greatly after the battle of Karbala, in which Hussein ibn ail and his household were
killed by the ruling Umayyad caliph Yazidi, and the outcry for revenge divided the early Islamic
community. Today, there are differences in religious practice, traditions, and customs, often related to
jurisprudence. Although all Muslims groups consider the Quran to be divine, Sunni and Shia have
different opinions on hadith.
Over the years, Sunni relations have been marked by both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His sons, Hassan and Hussain, were denied what they thought was their legitimate right of accession
to the caliphate.
Hassan is believed to have been poised in 680 by muawiyah, the first caliph of the Sunni Umayyad
dynasty, while Hussein was killed on the battlefield by the Umayyad s in 691.these events gave rise to
the Shia concept of martyrdom and the rituals of grieving.
Shia Islam: Shia Islam encompasses most Muslims who are not counted the Sunni. The division
between Sunni and Shia, dates to the death of the prophet Mohammed when his followers were faced
with the decision of who would be his successors as the leader of Islam s. Shiites are those followed
Ali, the closest relatives of Mohammed, as Muhammad s successor. Today there are approximately
120 million Shiite Muslims in the world.
The Shia consists of one major of thought known as the jafaryia or the Twelver s , and a few minor
schools of thought, as the Seveners or the fivers . These names all refers to the number of imams they
recognize after the death of Mohammed. The term Shia is usually meant to be synonymous with the

Leadership Theory, Transformational, And Transactional Theory
Leadership Theories
Unit 3
PSF8603 Management and Leadership Theory
Instructor Steven Kline
Capella University
Ann Marie Cameron
Introduction
There are a few leadership theories, but for this research I will only focus on four of these theories.
The theories that will be discussed are Situational leadership theory, Contingency theory,
Transformational, and Transactional theory. The theory Transformational is pondered by several to be
the theory improvement for transactional leadership theory, and it appears to have a cumulative
number of research studies that are supporting the benefits of this theory. Because, in an ever changing
organization, there are many who suggest that maybe transactional and transformational ... Show more

This theory states that neither a transformational leadership model, nor a transactional model of
leadership is going to work all the time and in all situations.
Therefore, the philosophy of a leader should be flexible enough to adapt to situations and changing
times, and we will have to use a combination of transformational and transactional leadership
techniques to get the job done ( Pros and Cons of , n.d., para. 9). The rudimentary idea behind
Situational theory is that we need to adapt our strategy to the changing of conditions.
Contingency theory
The contingency theory is a theory that states that to be an effective leader we should rely on not only
on the style of leading but, on the control over a situation, so there needs to be a good leader member
relations ( Fiedler s Contingency Theory , n.d., para. 3), and must have a task in mind with a clear
procedure and goals, and the skill for rewards and punishments when needed. If these are not in the
right combination and context in any way will result in failure for the leader. This theory in general
state that effectiveness will depend on the nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of
the group being led, and the factors involved.
Transformational theory
To use the transformational leadership theory, we need to understand what it is. Transformational
leadership theory is the process that

Hiking (Arizona) 101
I spent much of my Presidents Day holiday on the trail. The 75 degree blue sky
weather was beautiful and the people were few.
I thought that I would do a quick Hiking 101 (Arizona version) for my readers.
It is pretty basic and common sense, I know, but I have learned over the years that
common sense is anything but common so here you go.WATER UP Water, water, water

good advice.

The decision on the Mandate did not take into account the wishes of the people of Palestine, despite
the Covenant s requirements that the wishes of these communities must be a principal consideration in
the selection of the Mandatory . This assumed special significance because, almost five years before
receiving the mandate from the League of Nations, the British Government had given commitments to
the Zionist Organization regarding the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine, for which
Zionist leaders had pressed a claim of historical connection since their ancestors had lived in Palestine
two thousand years earlier before dispersing in the Diaspora . During the period of the Mandate, the
Zionist Organization worked to secure the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine. The
indigenous people of Palestine, whose forefathers had inhabited the land for virtually the two
preceding millennia, felt this design to be a violation of their natural and inalienable rights. They also
viewed it as an infringement of assurances of independence given by the Allied Powers to Arab
leaders in return for their support during the war. The result was mounting

Siddharth Gaining Self Empowerment Through Experiences
Gaining Self Empowerment Through Experiences Reality to most people means the world and the
state of things as they actually exist, however for the purpose of this essay reality means experience,
more specifically knowledge through experience and how students in high school can acquire it in the
form of self empowerment. Self empowerment is taking control of one s own life, knowing their limits
and learning from their mistakes. Siddhartha rejected the teachings of the Buddha in order to gain
knowledge through experiences, Siddhartha lost himself and made mistakes in his quest for getting
enlightened but found retribution by realizing his mistakes, learning from them and making a change.
From Hume s philosophy it is understood that there are two types of knowledge, knowledge of the
world, which is subjective to a person s experience and prior knowledge which is knowledge of
relations of ideas that cannot be experienced such as mathematics. Although students have prior
knowledge such as mathematics, knowledge of the world comes from experience and students need
experience in order to gain self empowerment and achieve success.
Students need to learn how to take charge of their lives. Students must gain experiences from an early
age and while they are in school, so they can be further prepared for life after high school. Subjects
such as mathematics and history and essentials like PowerPoints, worksheets and information given to
students by their teachers are

The Documentary About Nevsun, A Canadian Mining Company...
The documentary is about Nevsun, a Canadian mining company for permitting forced labor and abuse
of human rights in Bisha mine in Eretria. The documentary is prepared and presented by Canadian
Broadcasting Corporation, Fifth Estate in February 2016. The film meshes well with the unfortunate
miseries that civilians have to endure under the aristocratic regime of President Isaias Afwerki. The
film is incredibly mind boggling and captivating in disclosing felonious activities by the Nevsun in
collaboration with the Eritrea s government. The film attempts to portray how compromised
cooperation between private firms and aristocratic regimes leads to forced labor; abuse of human right
and crimes against humanity ( Nevsun In Eritrea: Dealing With A Dictator The Fifth Estate ).
The film focuses its attention on the use of forced conscripted military labor. Indisputably, the film
highlights the miseries of Eritrean in implausible style. An extensive investigation by the Canadian
Broadcasting Corporation highlights how Nevsun, through Segen could have been collaborating with
the Eritrean dictatorial regime for cheap labor. Apparently under the military conscription Eritrea,
every man below the age of fifty serves in the army for an indefinite period. Use of conscripted
military labor is common especially by colluding with private companies to exploit the civilian. As

The League s Best Center For The Past Seasons
1. DeMarcus Cousins Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins has been the league s best center for the
past few seasons. Night in and night out, Cousins produces at an All Star caliber level. Unfortunately
he hasn t been recognized for immense talent due to the ineptitude of the franchise he plays for (yeah,
I m looking at you Sacramento). Last season was Cousins best, he finished the year with per game
averages of 26.9 points (4th in the league), 11.5 rebounds (5th in the league), and 1.4 blocks. He
capped of the season with his second consecutive All NBA Second Team appearance. Cousins is a

With the emergence of his game on the offensive end of the floor, Jordan was rewarded being named
to the All NBA First Team this past season. Jordan had a career year. He finished the season with per
game averages of 12.7 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Although he didn t lead the
NBA in rebounding this past season, he leads the NBA in total rebounds over the last three seasons,
finishing first in that category twice. Jordan s athletic ability is his biggest strength. It allows the
Clippers to run their free flowing, fast up tempo offense at a peek level. Without Jordan the offense
and defense would function at much more inefficient level. The only knock on Jordan s game is his
inability to convert at the free throw line. He s among the worst free throw shooters in NBA history,
but even so, Jordan s value should not be overlooked. He s just as important to the Clippers as Chris
Paul and Blake Griffin. 4. Andre Drummond Detroit Pistons Since entering the league in 2012, Andre
Drummond has evolved immensely as a player. When he entered the league, Drummond was a
liability on both ends of the floor showing an inability to play efficiently on either end, but now, four
short years later, Drummond is absolute force on both ends of the floor. His offensive

Japanese Dining History and Foods of Izakaya and Japanese...
Japanese cuisine has developed over two hundred years and influenced by both China and Korea. In
Asia, rice has been the major staple food in many countries. However, in Japan, rice has also been
used to brew sake, a traditional alcohol drink which always appears in every kinds of Japanese
restaurant today, such as Izakaya. Traditionally, a meal contains a bowl of rice and seasoned side
dishes for each one person. (Naomichi Ishige 2000) However, in Izakaya type restaurant, people

they have new item, just write it on a piece paper and place it on the wall. This tradition became a
unique eating izakaya environment. Japanese always know the best delicious food will not be on
regular menu but on somewhere of the wall.
The common foods in izakaya are yakitori, grilled beef tongue, beef tataki, tempura, butter clams,
Gyoza and broiled whole squid, etc. Yakitori is one of famous Japanese grilled appetizers that threads

and then brush the sauce three times when the meat starts changing color. Grilled beef tongue has the
same way to grill as yakitori. Beef tataki is a raw beef dish which is served with onion and ponzu
sauce, the special Japanese sauce. Butter clams are made with onion and butter and broiled until the
clams has been well to eat. Gyoza is Japanese dumpling that filled with pork and vegetable and then

American writer who writes about life as an American Indian. Alexie uses his family and culture to
create the setting, and he also uses it to create a three person reflection of himself through his
characters Thomas Builds The Fire, Victor Joseph, and Victor Polatkin. One of the things that
contributed to Alexie s writing was his family. Sherman Alexie was born in Spokane, Washington, on
October 7, 1966, the son of Sherman Joseph Alexie and Lillian Agnes (née Cox) Alexie (Sax). Alexie

When Thomas first got Johnson s guitar, he was talking to Victor and Junior about it. Victor wanted to
know what he had named it. Tell me, Victor said and cut off Thomas air for a second (Alexie 14).
Junior tries to get Victor to let go of Thomas. I ain t letting you go until you tell me, (Alexie 14).
Junior was very persistent and physical, which as Alexie described as part of himself. The three
predominant characters in his first novel, Reservation Blues, Alexie has described as the holy trinity of
me (McFarland). Victor proceeded to argue with Thomas about the guitar. He is trying to get him to
stop playing songs by making him play a specific song. What happens if you can t play the song?
Victor asked. Then you can kick my ass some more. We ll kick your ass anyway, Victor said (Alexie
15). Victor also used an electric fence to be mean to Thomas. Watch this, Victor said as he dropped a
foot long water snake onto the fence. Thomas nearly choked on the smell (Alexie 71). Thomas did not
want to say anything in fear of making it worse. Thomas was a little frivolous around Victor Junior
once again tried to get Victor to stop but it did not work. Victor drug Thomas over to a barrel where he
had a rattlesnake inside. Grab the fence, Victor said. Or grab the snake (Alexie 71). This was quite a
shrewd thing to do, but Thomas was more crafty when he touched the snake, knowing it was dead
when Victor did not. Victor can be implacable and arduous about what he wants people to do. Victor
was also drunk a lot. Do you got a beer? (Alexie 19) Junior asked one of the Indians on the reservation
that everybody knew did not drink like that. He got drunk almost and passed asleep in the water truck
every night. Victor and Junior were passed out in the water truck on an old logging road (Alexie 23).
They had been working all day delivering water to the end of the reservation that did

Wife Of Bath Character Analysis Essay
In our group, we drew the Wife of Bath, the Reeve, and the Monk, three characters richly described as
physically and morally, quite different. The Wife of Bath, whose tale is later told in its entirety, stood
out as a character in that she was so brazen and bold. She was described as beautifully gap toothed,
promiscuous with husbandry, and so well practiced in the arts of love and sex that her profession
should very well be wife. She dresses richly, reflecting her true talent as a professional seamstress, and
her style is unique. Most of all, she is shrewd and intelligent, using her own body to get what she
wants from her many husbands. For these reasons, though mainly based on looks, we have chosen
Georgia May Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger, and better known as the British model for Rimmel
London makeup products. Georgia May Jagger is considered attractive by some, obviously, as she is a
model. However, by modern standards, her strange accent and the large gap in her front teeth, much
like the Wife of Bath, is now considered hideous. In fact, she has become somewhat of an internet
meme, with her famous tagline, Get the London look, worded over a picture of her face with another
picture below it, of a man driving a flat headed screwdriver between his front teeth with a hammer. ...

Before the 1973 ruling of the case of Roe v Wade, the estimated average number of illegal abortions
every year ranged from 200,000 to 1.5 million. The methods used were violently dangerous including
women ingesting toxic substances such as bleach and detergents which often times was ineffective.
Women around the country were concerned that the anti abortion laws conflicted with a person s right
to privacy and equal protection given by the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution.

Alternatively, McCorvey s friends encouragingly suggested she lie and say that her pregnancy was the

of options, one being an illegal abortion clinic that she soon found out had been shut down by the
police, and the other option being an old abandoned building where McCorvey stated dirty
instruments were scattered around the room, and there was dried blood on the floor. McCorvey
believed it was against the constitutional rights of american citizens to restrict the rights of abortion.
These restricting laws were believes by many women to trap them into unfavorable alternatives such
as self abortion or abortions performed by unlicensed beings with unsanitary surroundings and

remain anonymous for several reasons: she feared publicity would hurt her five year old daughter, her
parents were against abortion, and she had lied about being raped (p.9) thus Norma McCorvey was

Indoor Tanning Creams
There are many indoor tanners these days, and so it stands to reason that a lot of them use an indoor
tanning lotion. The reason for these products is so a person can get a brilliant color as quickly as
possible. And, this is also helpful as someone can get the shade he or she wants, without spending too
much time to get it.
This cream works a bit different from those outdoor lotions. Outdoor products are used so a person
can block those UV rays from their skin while they are playing in nature, yet still get some color. This
product, on the other hand, is formulated to encourage rapid color gain for the person who is tanning

the good news is that they can be found for purchase several places. One of the easiest ways to find

Relationship Between Child Support And Child Relationship
Parent to Child Relationship Analyzed by Child Support and Disconnection
I am writing about the topic of how child support can affect the relationship a parent feels towards
their child. In a sense that it can make the parent feel as if the child is an expense. As something they
have to constantly keep up with like a phone bill or water bill. I chose this topic because I feel that
there is a disconnection between parents that are required to pay child support toward their child.
Those parents paying child support in most instances are only allowed to see their child for a certain
period of time. That being a weekend or every other weekend. If not at all in the most extreme cases.
This disconnection in turn can lead to a broken relationship between the parent and the child. The
parent is seen as a negative figure by the child whereas the parent sees the child as an expense. Which
can lead to other negative impacts between the family. The parent with full custody or majority
custody is a better able to raise the child and instill negative feelings about the other parent into the
child. What is significant and interesting about this particular field of inquiry that this is constantly
happening in modern time. As seen through high levels of divorce, custody battles, and parents that
are required to pay child support on a monthly basis. At times the other parent with majority custody
can even be better off as they are receiving another check while the parent required to pay child
support is at times struggling to get by. Needless to say that the parent required to pay child support is
at fault and put themselves in the situation in the first place. The challenges I expect to face while
researching are unscholarly resources in which frustrated parents post on online websites. Even
though these experiences may be first hand insights they are most likely posted to unscholarly
websites which cannot be used for this essay. A possible thesis is, child support leads to a broken
relationship between a parent and a child with the cause of future disconnection. The research question
being, Does child support make a parent feel like their child is an expense that leads to disconnection?
With many answers surrounding this

School Coins
Recently, I discovered a new way to make a few cents per day. It doesn t involve a savings account, or
some form of investment such as a 401k. Instead, all it takes is an hour long stroll throughout the
school campus I work at, and a quick jaunt to a gas station near the campus while I keep my eyes cast
to the ground in order to spot bright, shiny objects. This new money collecting device is just that: a
means of literally collecting money from the ground. And, there s plenty to be found, if you know
where to look. Most often, I find pennies. Sometimes, I ll only find one. Other times, I will hit a
jackpot. What is certain is that there s something there every time I take my walk. And surprisingly,
one can make a small fortune. To date, I found about five dollars worth of coins. It may not sound
much, but consider this: at home I have a change jar where I place all the coins I acquired after
making a purchase. Once this jar fills up I go to my bank and convert those coins into a check and
deposit into my savings. Often, it takes me a year to collect over $100 worth of coins. The coins I
collect off the campus and street speed up that process. It s possible now to turn the coins in within six

Evolution has been a heavily debated issue since Charles Darwin first documented the theory in 1859.
However, until just recently, adaptation at a molecular level has been overlooked except by the
scientific world. Now with the help of modern technology, the protein sequences of nearly every
known living thing have either been established or are in the process of establishment, and are widely
accessible via the internet. With the knowledge of these sequences, one can actually look at several

Hemoglobin is the carrier in blood that transports oxygen to our tissues and carbon dioxide out of our
body, changing colors as it does so.
Hence, hemoglobin has long been termed the pigment of our blood. Hemoglobin was one of the first
proteins to be purified to the point where its molecular weight and amino acid composition could be
accurately measured. This finding was very important in that it eventually lead to the understanding
that a protein is a definite compound and not a colloidal mixture of polymers. Each molecule was built
from exactly the same amino acid subunits connected in the same order alonga chain, and had exactly
the same weight. Most organisms have their own unique, individual chain of proteins to make up their
hemoglobin, but all organisms share certain similarities, so striking that they are unable to be ignored.
Let s take, for example, the first twenty five amino acids in the alpha hemoglobin chains of 7 different
animals: a human man, rhesus monkey, cow, platypus, chicken, carp (bony fish), and shark
(cartilaginous fish) (See Table
1.1.) As is shown, the variations increase the further apart the organisms are on the proposed
evolutionary scale. A human man differs from a rhesus monkey only twice in the first twenty five
amino acids of their alpha hemoglobin chains, whereas a man and

PID Controller
PID controller is one of the methods for temperature control and is widely used in process control
industry due to simple design and easy to implement in industrial [1]. PID controller consists of three
controllers, which is proportional (P) controller, Integral (I) controller, and derivative (D) controller
[2]. The equation for output of the PID control can be described as: u(t)=K(e(t)+ 1/T_i ∫_0^t▒〖e(τ)
dτ+ T_(d ) de(t)/dt〗) [2]
Which e is the control error, K is the proportional (P) gain, Ti is the integral (I) time, and Td is the
derivative time. Figure 1 shows the PID controller design using operational amplifier (op amp). Figure

Ruth Welch Interview
I am currently undecided about my major, but I am thinking of majoring in Biology/Pre Medicine or
nursing, therefore I decided to interview my aunt, Ruth Welch, BSN, RN. The interview took place
over the phone on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5th, since Ruth lives in Maryland. I choose to
interview Ruth about her experience with public speaking in her nursing profession because I grew up
listening to her talk about her different experiences and knew she had held several positions
throughout the years that would require varying levels of public speaking. For the interview, I asked
the questions from the prompts and then formed my own questions to produce deeper responses and to
hear a few of her stories from working as a nurse. Ruth did not have much public speaking experience
until she went to college, since her high school did not offer a speech course. In college, she dreaded
taking her public speaking course and pushed it off as long as possible, but once she finally took the
course, she believed that it was helpful. Specifically, she thinks it helped her overcome her ... Show

Batman Vs Superman Research Paper
Tank missiles, bat bombs, or super strength, which would you prefer? Out of all off the superheroes
today, I think that ironman, batman, and superman are probably the most popular. These three are
highly powerful in all of their own ways. Two of them equipped with an arsenal of gadgets while the
other is just a man in tights and a cape. They all have their ups and their down, their strengths and
their weaknesses. But set all that aside and they are very much alike. They have more similarities than
you would think even though they are all very different. Ironman s name is Tony Stark; he is an only
child, with no parents and a weird looking electromagnet in his chest. His suit of armor is made from a
titanium alloy which I red and gold. His suit also has tons of gadgets; such as explosives, special
bullets, repulsors on his hands and chest, and the ability to fly. His weakness is anything his suit
cannot handle, and EMPs, which kill electronics. The suit is extremely bullet resistant and can fly at
mach speeds. He has overcome many obstacles and has had multiple times where he has or has almost
failed. Ironman is still kicking in movies and books these days, so he is very popular in today s
community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Is Firefighter Equipment Safe Enough Essay
Is Firefighter Equipment Safe Enough? Firefighter equipment is constructed of some of the most high
tech material that has been created in order to keep the firefighter as safe as possible. Constantly new
items are made that are proven to be better than the last. Their equipment protects them from a lot.
They are equipped with oxygen to breathe when in a smoky building; they have extremely large knee
pads to crawl on the ground with because smoke rises so that is where the visibility is the best; they
have coats and pants to protect them from the heat and also to help prevent them from getting cut on
any sharp materials they may encounter; they have steel toed boots so if anything drops they won t get
hurt; and they have helmets to protect their heads. However, even though it seems like everything is
perfect some equipment can use some tweaking. My brother, Alex Paris, a firefighter in Prince
William County said, I think the equipment we have today is very safe maybe almost too safe because
it is causing us to go further in the fire and not being able to feel the heat. In the past firefighters used
their ears as sensors to determine when it was too hot and time to back out but now we have nomex
hoods that prevent us from doing this. When I asked him if there were any concerns he had with it he
said, I would like to have a facemask with increased visibility in very smoky conditions. I would also
like knee pads that are thicker and easier to move around in because in most

Melting Pot Ideology In America
Many Americans assume that the concept of actually forming the melting pot ideology in America
would be easy to obtain, that combining various cultures wouldn t be that much of a challenge.
However, an attempt to completely bring this ideology into society can cause problems among the
population. With the rising tension between races in America with recent events, such as the race riots
in Ferguson, Missouri, trying to incorporate different aspects of cultures would cause an explosion of
hate crimes and racism due to the differences between them. The Melting Pot culture is one where
several different cultures come together and adopt other parts into one single society. Jennifer Pozner,
who is the executive director and founder of Women in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pozner writes The Lubriderm photo shoot illustrates how the advertising industry s long held racial
essentialism influences the depiction of people of color in product placement driven reality TV. This
quote shows that the media, like the photo shoot, will put people in situations that portray them in a
stereotypical manner for the sake of a profit. Also, Television Shows, like America s Next Top Model,
will use the stereotypes in each race to cause the drama shown. This promotes the idea that a certain
race is going to act a certain way, and may make someone or a certain race feel like they are in a box
and are suppose to behave in a particular manner according to the stereotypes. This can create a divide
among the different cultures due to the feeling that they behave in certain ways, such as the angry
black woman or the spicy latina. The equivalent of these television shows happens in movies and
social media with how they portray the certain stereotypes. Television shows and movies have the
ability change and decide to break away from the stereotypes that they use , instead of promoting the
drama coming from that. However, the issue of making that change is the ratings may decrease
dramatically because their audiences are accustomed to a certain level of drama and

Why Reflexes Are Better Suing A Preferred Hands Or Non...
Introduction:
The aim of this investigation is to explore whether reflexes are better suing a preferred hand or non
preferred hand. The method of this conducting this experiment was using a ruler and dropping it
between the index finger and thumb of the participants being experimented on and measuring the
distance the ruler has been dropped.
Technology was significantly utilised to provide visual representation of the results in graphs,
boxplots and also provide the measures of central tendency and spread. The utilisation of technology
also made the calculation of the results easier, hence the use of technology was highly recommended.
The specific population chosen for this experiment were the male Year 11 students and a sample of 30

Since the spread is not quite significant as 50% of the data were in a small range, thus the results were
consistent therefore, it can be concluded that the mean gives an appropriate representation of the
results.
The boxplot and histogram of the non preferred hand indicates that there was a significant spread
between the results obtained, whilst the results also showed a symmetrical spread. Since there was a
significant spread, the mean may not give an appropriate representation of the results obtained
however, a large spread indicates that the results had large differences between the individuals
experimented on.
However, a higher percentage of the preferred hand would be above the mean as it is slightly
negatively skewed, whilst the non preferred hand is more symmetrical hence higher percentage of its
results near the mean.
The standard deviation of the preferred and non preferred hand results were quite similar which
indicates that the spread of the data were practically identical.
The preferred hand data has 50% of its results in a range of 2.6 cm, thus indicating that the results
were quite consistent as 50% of the results occurred in the range of 15 17.6 cm. Whilst the rest of the
data was quite spread quite as the minimum was 8.6cm and the maximum was 21.6 cm, which is a
range of 13 cm. Therefore the rest of data had been spread evenly as seen in the boxplot and

Human Security And The Security Of A State
When it comes to the security of a state, more traditional perspectives place security of the state above
the security of its people. A direct opposition would be a less traditional perspective that the state
should protect its most valuable asset, the people. Before comparing human security topics and
traditional security topics, both must be explained because incorporation of human security to
traditional security values causes mass tension. In the most basic of definitions, human security is
keeping the people free from any ridicule, discrimination or terror that they may encounter. While
human security is key to the function of a state, the issue should not be implemented to be covered by
traditional security topics. Security as a whole, should be more specific to state security and human
security. Security of one should not trump nor take away from the security of another. Both the state
and the people or co dependant and the safety of both is key to the progression of a state.
These contradictory perspectives create tension between the state and the people making security
decisions very difficult. The inability to determine a distinction between hard security, a more
fundamental and more access based way of security. This applies to the intricate system of encryption
and data restrictions that the state enforces. A soft security standpoint would apply to more awareness
bases ways of providing security. Soft security uses the people as its driving force and its

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave Essay
When you lose the person who matters most to you in this world, time alters. Time is no longer a
linear progression of events. Time becomes a memory of another life. Ten years pass within a day,
then you wake up and another decade has been added to the distance, an alien life form, a foreign
place, another person inhabiting your body in the past, and, yet, the memories flood the goop of your
brain, as if the single greatest loss of your life happened this morning. It s all curved and bended and
distorted, like an astronaut turning into spaghetti at the event horizon of some black hole right here on
planet earth. Nobody will ever get it. Plato s allegory of the cave: some dipshit escapes the shadowy
cave and returns to tell the other dick holes about this great truth he s learned, but they just stare at
him, like he jerks off to potatoes. This is what it s like. You re alone, time becomes a fucking acid trip,
and people become about as interesting as potted plants. As I sit on the roof deck of this Wall Street
condominium in Manhattan years after my entire life had disappeared and become something
unrecognizable, an indistinct memory floats down the back of my skull like an ephemeral spirit in the
darkness of night. The night watchman in my building looks suspiciously through the glass door then

Cod Paper Exploitation of seemingly unlimited natural resources and overfishing of our seas has
been a common theme throughout human history and across cultures, and as global populations grow,
these problems only compound. The basic nature of World History is to break down borders and

environmental resources for short term gain is as cross cultural a characteristic as they come.

Furthermore, those who moderate their intake of the resource lose the advantage to those who exploit
it, even if moderation would be a superior advantage for everybody in the long run. Overfishing is a
perfect example, because fishermen earn their living in direct proportion to the number of fish they
catch, not to the sustainability of their fishing practices. The problem is further compounded by the
fact that the sustainable limits of the catch are often unclear and speculative, owing to the complexity
and size of the earth s water systems.
Cod Part Two: Limits tells the story of the beginnings of mass, industrialized fishing and how it
affected the cod market and availability of the cod itself. Kurlansky studies the similarities and
differences between the industrialized cod fishing economies on both sides of the Atlantic, showcasing
connections characteristic of World History. The development of new, improved ways to fully harness
the power of the ocean meant that we could begin to truly test its limits. Line fishing, trawling,
gillnetting; these methods made fishing dramatically more efficient just as they depleted the
environmental stocks of fish at an unprecedented rate. Dr. Michael N Pearson writes that Local,

Fossil Fuels In The US
Fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas provide the U.S. with over 80 percent of its energy
supply (McNerney Cheek, 2012). Fossil fuels, formed from organic materials over the course of many
centuries, have fueled the global and U.S. economic development for the past two centuries.
Nonetheless, fossil fuels are finite resources that cause irreversible harm to the environment. Scientists
consider them nonrenewable forms of energy since they take hundreds of years to form. According to
Rand (2010), fossil fuels were responsible for 79 percent of the greenhouse emissions in 2010. Poor
efficiency practices and higher energy demands have increased the usage of fossil fuels, and it is now

Energy efficiency has a variety of benefits: lowering cost on both household and economical levels,
reducing demand for energy imports, and fewer greenhouse emissions. Although renewable energy
technologies help to accomplish these objectives of reducing the utilization of fossil fuels, the
cheapest, and often most immediate, is improving energy efficiency. There are considerable
opportunities for improving the efficiency in almost all sectors of the economy, whether it is transport,
energy generation, buildings, or industry. Most typical cars consume fossil fuels. Choosing alternative
forms of transport other than running a personal car saves on the fossil fuel. Alternative forms of
transport in America include train, subway system, or bus. Moreover, taking public transport does not
only save on fossil fuels but it also allows one to concentrate on other things such as reading.
Additionally, the best way of being independent of fossil fuels is driving less. Bicycle riding or
walking reduces the utilization of fossil fuels; it is cheap, good for the environmental, and

The Pros And Cons Of Search Engine Optimization
SEM or Search Engine Optimization is closely related to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In fact, a
lot of SEM jobs will often expect you to know a bit about SEO. Because you can t do SEM without
additional skills. For instance, knowing how to work PPC advertising (i.e., Pay Per Click advertising)
is almost essential for those looking to work in SEM jobs.
To explain why SEO, SEM and PPC advertising is often interrelated in job descriptions, consider this:
In definition, SEO optimizes websites and web pages via content that contains selective keywords.
Whereas, SEM uses advertising and promotion methods to place certain web pages and websites in
the first page of search engine results. So the purpose is more or less the same for both. The only
difference is the method. Plus, SEM usually uses paid advertising methods too (which is not that
necessary for SEO). So paid advertising methods like PPC advertising is something the SEM
professionals should know about too.

Differences Between Evangelical And Liberal And Neo...
OOver the centuries, as some Christians grew more and more doubtful about the possibility of ancient
orthodox beliefs in the contemporary, critical world. Could they preach the old, old story in a new,
new world in which the way of thinking was supposedly more sophisticated than in the early,
medieval or Reformation worlds? Would the modern world accept traditional beliefs like the Trinity,
the unity of Jesus in two natures, the total wickedness of humans and the strict, substitutionary
atonement (Bingham, p. 150)? In the paper I will compare and contrast Evangelical, Liberal, and Neo
Orthodox views as it relates to scriptures. Next in this paper will discuss analyze the strengths and
weaknesses of each of the three movements.
The term evangelical comes from the Greek, meaning the good news or the gospel. the evangelical
faith focuses on the good news of salvation brought to sinners by Jesus Christ. Evangelicals have five
convictions are at the base of the faith of those associated with the movement. First, they believe that
the Bible is the supreme authority for faith and practice. Second, they believe in the essential of new

work of Christ. Fourth, they believe in the pressing need to evangelize the world. Fifth, they believe
that the church is a community of believers in dwelt by the Holy Spirit (Voskuil).

The Validity Of Social Exchange Theories
Social Exchange theory Theories are defined as a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or followed as
the basis of action (Theory, n.d.). The theory that I researched is the social exchange theory. Defined
as interpreting people s social interactions that are based on estimates of rewards and punishment. The
research indicates that the theory is valid. I will go further in to depth.
This theory is relevant in many peoples lives. Let me explain in a scenario. A man named Johnathan
was shopping for a graduation gift for his best friend Anna. He spent days trying to find a suitable gift
to give. After days, he finally found the perfect gift. The gift cost a lot of money to get and he felt
proud of it. Later, at graduation, he gave Ann the amazing gift, and wondered what he would get from
her. Ann pulled out a congratulations card and handed it to him. Even though he liked it, deep down he
had high expectations and in turn the payoff was low for him, causing him to have negative feeling
about the interaction. Social exchange theory can be explained in many ways, but this scenario
explained it well.
The social exchange theory s first major appearance in publication world came from John Thibault,
and Harold Kelly in 1952 ( Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main critic to address the inaccuracy of this theory is Katherine Miller. In her publication in 2005
she proposed many objectives regarding the theory. Katherine Stated, Social Exchange theory assumes
that the intimacy achieved in relationships is linear in nature (SET, 2012, para.10). What does this
mean? Let me explain. Looking deeper into the research her issue is for the theory to be accurate,
certain social parameters need to be met. In Katherines words, she says that the theory needs to rely on
the openness of the social interaction to be accurate (SET, 2012, para.10). Does Katherines article
regarding social exchange theory factual? Perhaps it is.

Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna
Abstract
Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under
consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species
occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock
surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a
question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two
phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA
was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the
total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cm².
The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site.
The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/
volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cm³. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site,
followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site,
intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site.

Summary Of The Girl With The Pearl Earrings
Johannes Vermeer painting of the girl with the pearl earrings, is often referred to as the Mona Lisa of
the north. The girl is believed to be his eldest daughter named Maria. In the article interpretation of the
girl with the pearl earrings, the writer acknowledges that this painting isn t a portrait but a study of the
girls head. The work can not be distinguished from other vermeer paints partly because of the term
tronie which means common type of art or works. Vermeer heads looked similar except for the girl
with the pearl earrings. The composition in this painting is different too, in most vermeer paintings
they have a dominant settings and you can clearly state what the setting is. The painting is pitch black
behind the woman s face which is usual for his paintings. Also the writer agrees that the unusual direct
contact between subject and spectator, and the slightly parted position of the lips, presents a sense of
intimacy which is also present in the allegory of the catholic faith. The writer believes that the most
significant part of the painting is the teardrop shaped pearl earrings that are in the painting. The theory
on the earrings is that there is a religious meaning to them. De Sales wrote a book that stated women
should protect their ears from unclean words, and that they should allow them to hear only chaste
words, The oriental pearls of the gospel. It seems that the pearl earrings in Vermeer s painting
represents chastity, while the oriental element

Post War Mississippi and The Influence On Faulkner Faulkner s A Rose for Emily was set, like most

Everyone in her town knew her as the sadly single woman who would never leave her house. They
often went on to say Poor Emily whenever anything happened to her (Faulkner 82). What I believe to
happen is that she never learned to cope with the death of her father then when she found someone to
replace her father with she never wanted him to leave. To find out some ways that the normal human
copes with the loss of a close family member I looked at the American Psychological Association.
According to the APA the normal human copes by talking the death of a family member out with
family and reaching out to help others (American Psychological Association). I believe that she dealt
with the death of her father by reaching out to fill the void with another being. The obsession that is
spoken about in this story is mainly the obsession of love and the past. Emily has caring family that
passes and then has a man who deserted her (Faulkner 83). She always wanted to feel loved but would
always lose that love. The house she was in represented the love that her father showed. When Homer
Barron tries to leave Miss Emily it is implied that she buys the Arsenic from the druggist to kill him.

Usually, when one considers what they can do to fight off a cold, relieve pain, or alleviate mental
illness, the first things that comes to mind may be to take over the counter drugs or prescribed
medications. However, the cure to these and many other infirmities may be found within your own
ipod. Music, in its many forms, can and should be used as a healing instrument. While it may not
completely alleviate the need for drugs, it s possible that music therapy could accompany medical
drug use in order to lessen the amount of potentially harmful medications often consumed by patients.
In order to understand how music can affect the body and mind, one needs to understand the
composition of sound itself. Don Campbell describes it by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives us the chance to feel a sense of order in a life that is so often filled with chaos. Furthermore,
singing can often help someone to come in contact with certain emotions that they have either been
suppressing, or simply could no longer feel. For
Cole 2 example, a song with slow tempo and lyrics about remembering a lost loved one can emit
feelings of deep sorrow or regret, which can be reflected and felt by the one singing, or even listening
to, the music. On the other hand, a more joyous and fast paced song can allow one to feel more
energized and up beat. Aside from emotions, music can also have an impact on mental illnesses like
ADHD, depression, and dementia. To combat depression, Cadena states that music therapy alleviates
pain and promotes calmness by slowing the heart rate and other bodily functions (2). It provides the
patient with a means of escape from the stressful and painful ordeals of life, and can even encourage
them to recover from depression. To help children with ADHD, music therapy and medications can be
used conjointly. Music, Cadena affirms, can provide a calming, sedative affect and assist a child with
focusing on the task at hand (2). In regards to dementia, a study was done to investigate the effects
that music would have on people with the disease. The findings demonstrated that mean agitation
levels were significantly lower while listening to music than before listening to the music (3). Music

Application Of Counselor Competence For Person Centered...
Conceptualization
This reliability study was designed to test the inter rater reliability of a newly developed measure of
counselor competence for person centered and experiential psychotherapy techniques. Developed by
the authors in hopes of improving counselor training and supervision outcomes for therapists
specializing in a person centered approach, the Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale
(PCEPS) is a rating scale containing two sub scales (the person centered subscale and experiential
subscale) with which trained observers can rate the adherence and competence of therapists to a
person centered approach. The aim of this study was to investigate whether inter rater agreement
existed in ratings of therapists on the Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale (PCEPS).
The procedure for conducting this reliability study was based upon the procedures followed in existing
research to validate other scales related to person centered therapy competency. Truax and Carkhuff s
(1967) Scales for Therapist Accurate Empathy, Nonpossessive Warmth, and Genuineness were created
to measure therapist traits and competencies through live observations or recordings of therapy
sessions. Waltz et al. (1993) further advised that therapy sessions of practitioners be recorded so as to
facilitate treatment integrity checks. This has been used most notably in investigations of Rogerian

Moral Characters In Macbeth
Moral characters are critical throughout Shakespearean tragedies and often offer the voice of reason
that is usually lost in the play. In Macbeth, there s no clear voice of reason; rather all goodness in the
play is usually killed off by Macbeth. The first major character that died, Duncan, had acted more on
his potential for goodness. He did his best to ensure the safety of his citizens and was an accurate
representation of the divine right of kings. Contrary to Duncan, Macbeth had the immense ambition to
become king which enabled him to act on his potential for evil. The only character that could manage
both of their potentials was Macduff, The Thane of Fife. Macduff could act on his emotion regardless
of evil or good but what differentiates him from Macbeth is his ability to not act on emotion when it
was not called for. Macduff is the closest the play comes to having a moral center as he is the
intermediary of King Duncan s rationality and goodness, and of Macbeth s evil ambition
Doctors throughout the 16th century were more involved in their patient s life. Not only did they take
part in their physical health but they also took the role of a therapist and often times gave advice. They
were trusted because doctors usually had the patients best interest in mind. For this reason, the Gentle
Woman called upon the doctor once Lady Macbeth started acting strange and sleepwalking during the
night. Lady Macbeth told of her husband murders but the doctor decided to Protect the Queen s
confidences when her sudden disclosure placed him in an ethical dilemma (Canadian Medical
Association). Upon seeing the horror instilled in Lady Macbeth s face and in her words, the Doctor
said More needs she the divine than the physician. / God, God, forgive us all! (V.ii.74 75). The
specific use of the word all is crucial because the doctor is making a statement about humanity, not
only Lady Macbeth. The doctor is stating the potential for goodness is equal to the potential for evil.
Macduff understood this potential once he saw Macbeth in de casibus. Macduff being the only one to
question Macbeth, quote, is further proof that shared the doctor s message. This evilness is what took
control of Macbeth s life and the goodness

  • 2. The Sunni-Shia Conflict The historic background of the Sunni Shia lies in the schism that occurred when the Islamic prophet Mohammed died in the 632, leading to a dispute over succession to Mohammed as a caliph of the Islamic community spread across various parts of the world, which led to the battel of Safin. The dispute intensified greatly after the battle of Karbala, in which Hussein ibn ail and his household were killed by the ruling Umayyad caliph Yazidi, and the outcry for revenge divided the early Islamic community. Today, there are differences in religious practice, traditions, and customs, often related to jurisprudence. Although all Muslims groups consider the Quran to be divine, Sunni and Shia have different opinions on hadith. Over the years, Sunni relations have been marked by both ... Hassan is believed to have been poised in 680 by muawiyah, the first caliph of the Sunni Umayyad dynasty, while Hussein was killed on the battlefield by the Umayyad s in 691.these events gave rise to the Shia concept of martyrdom and the rituals of grieving. Shia Islam: Shia Islam encompasses most Muslims who are not counted the Sunni. The division between Sunni and Shia, dates to the death of the prophet Mohammed when his followers were faced with the decision of who would be his successors as the leader of Islam s. Shiites are those followed Ali, the closest relatives of Mohammed, as Muhammad s successor. Today there are approximately 120 million Shiite Muslims in the world. The Shia consists of one major of thought known as the jafaryia or the Twelver s , and a few minor schools of thought, as the Seveners or the fivers . • 3. Leadership Theory, Transformational, And Transactional Theory Leadership Theories Unit 3 PSF8603 Management and Leadership Theory Instructor Steven Kline Capella University Ann Marie Cameron Introduction There are a few leadership theories, but for this research I will only focus on four of these theories. The theories that will be discussed are Situational leadership theory, Contingency theory, Transformational, and Transactional theory. The theory Transformational is pondered by several to be the theory improvement for transactional leadership theory, and it appears to have a cumulative number of research studies that are supporting the benefits of this theory. Because, in an ever changing organization, there are many who suggest that maybe transactional and transformational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This theory states that neither a transformational leadership model, nor a transactional model of leadership is going to work all the time and in all situations. Therefore, the philosophy of a leader should be flexible enough to adapt to situations and changing times, and we will have to use a combination of transformational and transactional leadership techniques to get the job done ( Pros and Cons of , n.d., para. 9). The rudimentary idea behind Situational theory is that we need to adapt our strategy to the changing of conditions. Contingency theory The contingency theory is a theory that states that to be an effective leader we should rely on not only on the style of leading but, on the control over a situation, so there needs to be a good leader member relations ( Fiedler s Contingency Theory , n.d., para. 3), and must have a task in mind with a clear procedure and goals, and the skill for rewards and punishments when needed. If these are not in the right combination and context in any way will result in failure for the leader. This theory in general state that effectiveness will depend on the nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of the group being led, and the factors involved. The decision on the Mandate did not take into account the wishes of the people of Palestine, despite the Covenant s requirements that the wishes of these communities must be a principal consideration in the selection of the Mandatory . This assumed special significance because, almost five years before receiving the mandate from the League of Nations, the British Government had given commitments to the Zionist Organization regarding the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine, for which Zionist leaders had pressed a claim of historical connection since their ancestors had lived in Palestine two thousand years earlier before dispersing in the Diaspora . During the period of the Mandate, the Zionist Organization worked to secure the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine. The indigenous people of Palestine, whose forefathers had inhabited the land for virtually the two preceding millennia, felt this design to be a violation of their natural and inalienable rights. They also viewed it as an infringement of assurances of independence given by the Allied Powers to Arab leaders in return for their support during the war. The result was mounting ... • 7. Siddharth Gaining Self Empowerment Through Experiences Gaining Self Empowerment Through Experiences Reality to most people means the world and the state of things as they actually exist, however for the purpose of this essay reality means experience, more specifically knowledge through experience and how students in high school can acquire it in the form of self empowerment. Self empowerment is taking control of one s own life, knowing their limits and learning from their mistakes. Siddhartha rejected the teachings of the Buddha in order to gain knowledge through experiences, Siddhartha lost himself and made mistakes in his quest for getting enlightened but found retribution by realizing his mistakes, learning from them and making a change. From Hume s philosophy it is understood that there are two types of knowledge, knowledge of the world, which is subjective to a person s experience and prior knowledge which is knowledge of relations of ideas that cannot be experienced such as mathematics. Although students have prior knowledge such as mathematics, knowledge of the world comes from experience and students need experience in order to gain self empowerment and achieve success. Students need to learn how to take charge of their lives. Students must gain experiences from an early age and while they are in school, so they can be further prepared for life after high school. The documentary is about Nevsun, a Canadian mining company for permitting forced labor and abuse of human rights in Bisha mine in Eretria. The documentary is prepared and presented by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Fifth Estate in February 2016. The film meshes well with the unfortunate miseries that civilians have to endure under the aristocratic regime of President Isaias Afwerki. The film is incredibly mind boggling and captivating in disclosing felonious activities by the Nevsun in collaboration with the Eritrea s government. The film attempts to portray how compromised cooperation between private firms and aristocratic regimes leads to forced labor; abuse of human right and crimes against humanity ( Nevsun In Eritrea: Dealing With A Dictator The Fifth Estate ). The film focuses its attention on the use of forced conscripted military labor. Indisputably, the film highlights the miseries of Eritrean in implausible style. An extensive investigation by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation highlights how Nevsun, through Segen could have been collaborating with the Eritrean dictatorial regime for cheap labor. Apparently under the military conscription Eritrea, every man below the age of fifty serves in the army for an indefinite period. Although he didn t lead the NBA in rebounding this past season, he leads the NBA in total rebounds over the last three seasons, finishing first in that category twice. Jordan s athletic ability is his biggest strength. It allows the Clippers to run their free flowing, fast up tempo offense at a peek level. Alexie uses his family and culture to create the setting, and he also uses it to create a three person reflection of himself through his characters Thomas Builds The Fire, Victor Joseph, and Victor Polatkin. One of the things that contributed to Alexie s writing was his family. Sherman Alexie was born in Spokane, Washington, on October 7, 1966, the son of Sherman Joseph Alexie and Lillian Agnes (née Cox) Alexie (Sax). Junior was very persistent and physical, which as Alexie described as part of himself. He is trying to get him to stop playing songs by making him play a specific song. What happens if you can t play the song? Victor asked. Then you can kick my ass some more. Thomas nearly choked on the smell (Alexie 71). Thomas did not want to say anything in fear of making it worse. Thomas was a little frivolous around Victor Junior once again tried to get Victor to stop but it did not work. Victor drug Thomas over to a barrel where he had a rattlesnake inside. Grab the fence, Victor said. Or grab the snake (Alexie 71). This was quite a shrewd thing to do, but Thomas was more crafty when he touched the snake, knowing it was dead when Victor did not. Victor can be implacable and arduous about what he wants people to do. Victor was also drunk a lot. Do you got a beer? (Alexie 19) Junior asked one of the Indians on the reservation that everybody knew did not drink like that. He got drunk almost and passed asleep in the water truck every night. • 12. Wife Of Bath Character Analysis Essay In our group, we drew the Wife of Bath, the Reeve, and the Monk, three characters richly described as physically and morally, quite different. The Wife of Bath, whose tale is later told in its entirety, stood out as a character in that she was so brazen and bold. She was described as beautifully gap toothed, promiscuous with husbandry, and so well practiced in the arts of love and sex that her profession should very well be wife. She dresses richly, reflecting her true talent as a professional seamstress, and her style is unique. Most of all, she is shrewd and intelligent, using her own body to get what she wants from her many husbands. For these reasons, though mainly based on looks, we have chosen Georgia May Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger, and better known as the British model for Rimmel London makeup products. Georgia May Jagger is considered attractive by some, obviously, as she is a model. However, by modern standards, her strange accent and the large gap in her front teeth, much like the Wife of Bath, is now considered hideous. Women around the country were concerned that the anti abortion laws conflicted with a person s right to privacy and equal protection given by the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution. • 15. Relationship Between Child Support And Child Relationship Parent to Child Relationship Analyzed by Child Support and Disconnection I am writing about the topic of how child support can affect the relationship a parent feels towards their child. In a sense that it can make the parent feel as if the child is an expense. As something they have to constantly keep up with like a phone bill or water bill. I chose this topic because I feel that there is a disconnection between parents that are required to pay child support toward their child. Those parents paying child support in most instances are only allowed to see their child for a certain period of time. That being a weekend or every other weekend. If not at all in the most extreme cases. This disconnection in turn can lead to a broken relationship between the parent and the child. The parent is seen as a negative figure by the child whereas the parent sees the child as an expense. Which can lead to other negative impacts between the family. The parent with full custody or majority custody is a better able to raise the child and instill negative feelings about the other parent into the child. What is significant and interesting about this particular field of inquiry that this is constantly happening in modern time. As seen through high levels of divorce, custody battles, and parents that are required to pay child support on a monthly basis. At times the other parent with majority custody can even be better off as they are receiving another check while the parent required to pay child support is at times struggling to get by. Needless to say that the parent required to pay child support is at fault and put themselves in the situation in the first place. The challenges I expect to face while researching are unscholarly resources in which frustrated parents post on online websites. Even though these experiences may be first hand insights they are most likely posted to unscholarly websites which cannot be used for this essay. A possible thesis is, child support leads to a broken relationship between a parent and a child with the cause of future disconnection. The research question being, Does child support make a parent feel like their child is an expense that leads to disconnection? With many answers surrounding this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead, all it takes is an hour long stroll throughout the school campus I work at, and a quick jaunt to a gas station near the campus while I keep my eyes cast to the ground in order to spot bright, shiny objects. This new money collecting device is just that: a means of literally collecting money from the ground. And, there s plenty to be found, if you know where to look. Most often, I find pennies. Sometimes, I ll only find one. Other times, I will hit a jackpot. What is certain is that there s something there every time I take my walk. And surprisingly, one can make a small fortune. To date, I found about five dollars worth of coins. It may not sound much, but consider this: at home I have a change jar where I place all the coins I acquired after making a purchase. Once this jar fills up I go to my bank and convert those coins into a check and deposit into my savings. Often, it takes me a year to collect over $100 worth of coins. However, until just recently, adaptation at a molecular level has been overlooked except by the scientific world. Now with the help of modern technology, the protein sequences of nearly every known living thing have either been established or are in the process of establishment, and are widely accessible via the internet. With the knowledge of these sequences, one can actually look at several organisms genetic codes and point out the similarities. Entire genomes of creatures have been sequenced, and the human genome project is well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hemoglobin is the carrier in blood that transports oxygen to our tissues and carbon dioxide out of our body, changing colors as it does so. Hence, hemoglobin has long been termed the pigment of our blood. Hemoglobin was one of the first proteins to be purified to the point where its molecular weight and amino acid composition could be accurately measured. This finding was very important in that it eventually lead to the understanding that a protein is a definite compound and not a colloidal mixture of polymers. Each molecule was built from exactly the same amino acid subunits connected in the same order alonga chain, and had exactly the same weight. Most organisms have their own unique, individual chain of proteins to make up their hemoglobin, but all organisms share certain similarities, so striking that they are unable to be ignored. Let s take, for example, the first twenty five amino acids in the alpha hemoglobin chains of 7 different animals: a human man, rhesus monkey, cow, platypus, chicken, carp (bony fish), and shark (cartilaginous fish) (See Table 1.1.) As is shown, the variations increase the further apart the organisms are on the proposed evolutionary scale. A human man differs from a rhesus monkey only twice in the first twenty five amino acids of their alpha hemoglobin chains, whereas a man and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Literature Review On PID Controller Chapter 2 Literature Review Theory and law PID Controller PID controller is one of the methods for temperature control and is widely used in process control industry due to simple design and easy to implement in industrial [1]. PID controller consists of three controllers, which is proportional (P) controller, Integral (I) controller, and derivative (D) controller [2]. The equation for output of the PID control can be described as: u(t)=K(e(t)+ 1/T_i ∫_0^t▒〖e(τ) dτ+ T_(d ) de(t)/dt〗) [2] Which e is the control error, K is the proportional (P) gain, Ti is the integral (I) time, and Td is the derivative time. The interview took place over the phone on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5th, since Ruth lives in Maryland. I choose to interview Ruth about her experience with public speaking in her nursing profession because I grew up listening to her talk about her different experiences and knew she had held several positions throughout the years that would require varying levels of public speaking. Firefighter equipment is constructed of some of the most high tech material that has been created in order to keep the firefighter as safe as possible. Constantly new items are made that are proven to be better than the last. Their equipment protects them from a lot. They are equipped with oxygen to breathe when in a smoky building; they have extremely large knee pads to crawl on the ground with because smoke rises so that is where the visibility is the best; they have coats and pants to protect them from the heat and also to help prevent them from getting cut on any sharp materials they may encounter; they have steel toed boots so if anything drops they won t get hurt; and they have helmets to protect their heads. However, even though it seems like everything is perfect some equipment can use some tweaking. My brother, Alex Paris, a firefighter in Prince William County said, I think the equipment we have today is very safe maybe almost too safe because it is causing us to go further in the fire and not being able to feel the heat. In the past firefighters used their ears as sensors to determine when it was too hot and time to back out but now we have nomex hoods that prevent us from doing this. Also, Television Shows, like America s Next Top Model, will use the stereotypes in each race to cause the drama shown. This promotes the idea that a certain race is going to act a certain way, and may make someone or a certain race feel like they are in a box and are suppose to behave in a particular manner according to the stereotypes. This can create a divide among the different cultures due to the feeling that they behave in certain ways, such as the angry black woman or the spicy latina. The method of this conducting this experiment was using a ruler and dropping it between the index finger and thumb of the participants being experimented on and measuring the distance the ruler has been dropped. Technology was significantly utilised to provide visual representation of the results in graphs, boxplots and also provide the measures of central tendency and spread. The utilisation of technology also made the calculation of the results easier, hence the use of technology was highly recommended. Since the spread is not quite significant as 50% of the data were in a small range, thus the results were consistent therefore, it can be concluded that the mean gives an appropriate representation of the results. The boxplot and histogram of the non preferred hand indicates that there was a significant spread between the results obtained, whilst the results also showed a symmetrical spread. Since there was a significant spread, the mean may not give an appropriate representation of the results obtained however, a large spread indicates that the results had large differences between the individuals experimented on. However, a higher percentage of the preferred hand would be above the mean as it is slightly negatively skewed, whilst the non preferred hand is more symmetrical hence higher percentage of its results near the mean. The standard deviation of the preferred and non preferred hand results were quite similar which indicates that the spread of the data were practically identical. The preferred hand data has 50% of its results in a range of 2.6 cm, thus indicating that the results were quite consistent as 50% of the results occurred in the range of 15 17.6 cm. A direct opposition would be a less traditional perspective that the state should protect its most valuable asset, the people. Before comparing human security topics and traditional security topics, both must be explained because incorporation of human security to traditional security values causes mass tension. In the most basic of definitions, human security is keeping the people free from any ridicule, discrimination or terror that they may encounter. While human security is key to the function of a state, the issue should not be implemented to be covered by traditional security topics. Security as a whole, should be more specific to state security and human security. Security of one should not trump nor take away from the security of another. To explain why SEO, SEM and PPC advertising is often interrelated in job descriptions, consider this: In definition, SEO optimizes websites and web pages via content that contains selective keywords. Whereas, SEM uses advertising and promotion methods to place certain web pages and websites in the first page of search engine results. So the purpose is more or less the same for both. The research indicates that the theory is valid. I will go further in to depth. This theory is relevant in many peoples lives. Let me explain in a scenario. A man named Johnathan was shopping for a graduation gift for his best friend Anna. He spent days trying to find a suitable gift to give. After days, he finally found the perfect gift. Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna Abstract Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cm². The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site. The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/ volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cm³. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site. The work can not be distinguished from other vermeer paints partly because of the term tronie which means common type of art or works. The composition in this painting is different too, in most vermeer paintings they have a dominant settings and you can clearly state what the setting is. The painting is pitch black behind the woman s face which is usual for his paintings. Also the writer agrees that the unusual direct contact between subject and spectator, and the slightly parted position of the lips, presents a sense of intimacy which is also present in the allegory of the catholic faith. What I believe to happen is that she never learned to cope with the death of her father then when she found someone to replace her father with she never wanted him to leave. To find out some ways that the normal human copes with the loss of a close family member I looked at the American Psychological Association. According to the APA the normal human copes by talking the death of a family member out with family and reaching out to help others (American Psychological Association). I believe that she dealt with the death of her father by reaching out to fill the void with another being. The obsession that is spoken about in this story is mainly the obsession of love and the past. Emily has caring family that passes and then has a man who deserted her (Faulkner 83). She always wanted to feel loved but would always lose that love. The house she was in represented the love that her father showed. When Homer Barron tries to leave Miss Emily it is implied that she buys the Arsenic from the druggist to kill him. When the druggist asks her what it is for and she simply looked back at him, erect with her face like a strained flag ; it is clear that she was not using it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Moral Characters In Macbeth Moral characters are critical throughout Shakespearean tragedies and often offer the voice of reason that is usually lost in the play. In Macbeth, there s no clear voice of reason; rather all goodness in the play is usually killed off by Macbeth. The first major character that died, Duncan, had acted more on his potential for goodness. He did his best to ensure the safety of his citizens and was an accurate representation of the divine right of kings. Contrary to Duncan, Macbeth had the immense ambition to become king which enabled him to act on his potential for evil. The only character that could manage both of their potentials was Macduff, The Thane of Fife. Macduff could act on his emotion regardless of evil or good but what differentiates him from Macbeth is his ability to not act on emotion when it was not called for. Macduff is the closest the play comes to having a moral center as he is the intermediary of King Duncan s rationality and goodness, and of Macbeth s evil ambition Doctors throughout the 16th century were more involved in their patient s life. Not only did they take part in their physical health but they also took the role of a therapist and often times gave advice. They were trusted because doctors usually had the patients best interest in mind. For this reason, the Gentle Woman called upon the doctor once Lady Macbeth started acting strange and sleepwalking during the night. Lady Macbeth told of her husband murders but the doctor decided to Protect the Queen s confidences when her sudden disclosure placed him in an ethical dilemma (Canadian Medical Association). Upon seeing the horror instilled in Lady Macbeth s face and in her words, the Doctor said More needs she the divine than the physician. / God, God, forgive us all! (V.ii.74 75). The specific use of the word all is crucial because the doctor is making a statement about humanity, not only Lady Macbeth. The doctor is stating the potential for goodness is equal to the potential for evil. Macduff understood this potential once he saw Macbeth in de casibus. Macduff being the only one to question Macbeth, quote, is further proof that shared the doctor s message. This evilness is what took control of Macbeth s life and the goodness ...
