NASA Economic Lens

Space Exploration Economic Lens
On July 21, 1969, the United States rocket Apollo 11 landed on the moon, marking a monumental and
unprecedented feat of mankind. Culminated as the product of breakthrough innovations in engineering
and physics and overwhelming government support (which granted NASA over 4% of the federal
budget), the moon landing was the crowning moment of NASA s accomplishments. At that time, a
new era of space exploration seemed to be on the verge of occurrence. However, fifty years later,
NASA has seemed to have fallen from its old glory, with the United States Federal government
spending only 0.5% of the nation s federal budget on its space endeavors. With increased concerns of

Citing cases such as SpaceX, which built a rocket named the dragon 320x cheaper than NASA s
spaceship the Orion, many opponents to governmental space exploration heavily recommend NASA
to privatize many of its sectors. However, contrary to popular belief, NASA is not an entirely
government run corporation and in essence has already inherently privatized almost all of its sectors
which should be privatized to cut down costs. For instance, NASAAdministrator Chris Scolese told a
congressional subcommittee back in 2009 that the agency will give $150 million in stimulus package
money to private companies that design, build and service their own rockets. Furthermore, NASA has
picked three private companies to act as its International Space Station delivery service through the
next eight years. The contractors of SpaceX, Orbital ATK, and Sierra Nevada Corporation will
transport supplies up to the International Space Station and back to NASA starting in late 2019. Most
importantly, President Obama announced in his Space Plan that his goal was to restructure NASA to
focus on space research and development while reassigning the other tasks of NASA to private
corporations. Thus, the claim that NASA needs to privatize falls hollow because NASA is already
privatizing the sectors which should be privatized. The majority of sectors that NASA funds in the
status quo lies in

that they look for problems or flaws. Deal with more than sentence level issues (grammar,

After that we took a look at what our reviewers wrote for us. In their review of our PowerPoint, one
thing they stated was, The only thing that we would change is the font. It seems to be very close
together and difficult to read. We took these two suggestions into consideration, and decided it would
be best to follow their advice and change up the font and spacing. We changed the font sizes of both
the titles and subtitles to fit best for the specific slide. Each slide now has different font sizes and
formatting to make it most appealing for specific slide that it is on, and it made our presentation easier
to follow. Another suggestion that we received was The bullet points are not consistent throughout the
PowerPoint . This was a silly mistake that would have been foolish to leave in a presentation
addressing a professional audience. After looking at what our reviewers were referencing, we noticed
that the bullets changed shape as the presentation progressed. This made the presentation inconsistent
and we decided that it had to be changed. Changing the presentation to make the bullets consistent
made our presentation appear much more professional. The final suggestion that we received on the
Powerpoint from the peer review pertained to the titles of the slides. They pointed out a couple

My Life Is A Pallet Of Colors
My life is a pallet of colors, some are beautifully bright and vivid others are dark and sometimes dull.
Throughout my short seventeen years of painting my life I have been learning new techniques and
skills along the way. Mixing the bright and the dark colors into a mural of astounding beauty. I see the
world as my canvas, a way to share joy, happiness, hurt, and emotions with others. A current medium I
love to work with is clay. A ball of earth that can be shaped and molded into something exquisite.
Through the struggle of working with this exerting my strength and might into shaping and forming

and squish a bowl together the impact it has made on me is irreversible. There were many days all the
stress was bearing down on me and I felt as if my head was about to explode or I would give up, but I
still trekked to the ceramics studio. I d get my clay and start centering, and pulling, and shaping. I
worked myself into every piece I made. My aggressions, stress, and tensions were absorbed into the
clay as I beared down on it. I never left ceramics downtrodden, even if the wheel was not treating me
kindly. I hope the empty bowls project made an impact on the students involved as well. I owe them
so much gratitude this would not be possible without their help and talents. They were a part of
something great, and they will continue to be. Every bowl that was sold has a story, it was made with
two willing hands and a brilliant mind.
I want to tell you a story about a little girl I met at the empty bowls event. I do not know her name,
how old she is, or even who she was with that night, but she was the biggest impact of the entire
empty bowls project for me. We started the night with three tables full of bowls some made with
beautiful craftsmanship and others made with good intentions. It was a rush, the entire

Examples Of Revenge Tragedy In Hamlet
A lot of Shakespeare s plays allude to revenge and revenge tragedy. Revenge tragedy is seeking
revenge for wrongdoings done against someone in a literary work. Usually, the person seeking this
revenge is the protagonist and the plot is usually developed throughout their journey to get their
rightful revenge. Revenge tragedy is also the central conflict within a literary work. In the play,
Hamlet,Young Fortinbras, and Laertes are all examples of revenge tragedy. Hamlet ironically isn t a
person that shows to have the desire of seeking revenge and this is ironic because most of the time the
protagonist of a revenge tragedy work desires revenge. Revenge tragedy often sees that the revenger s
pursuit of retribution for past wrongs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet refrained from killing his own mother, thereby demonstrating Shakespeare s greater respect
for the rules of manner proper to Persons . (Grazia 2003) This philosophical criticism used provides an
understanding to the meaning of the work because it clearly displays the stance Shakespeare had when
it came to philosophy and morals and this could be seen throughout Hamlet as well. Shakespeare is
more able to get his meaning and message of his literary work Hamlet over to the readers by
describing their psyche and their subconscious thoughts, as seen with Hamlet several times.
Psychoanalytic criticism is the idea that literary text express the private unconscious desires of the
author as well as their inner psyche or persona. Shakespeare constructs Hamlet to be a very
psychoanalytic character. The literary text of Hamlet s thoughts tie to his desires and grievances. In the
work, Hamlet tells his father that he will fulfill his father s wishes and get revenge on Claudius, his
uncle. This brings upon the idea of Paternity(his father s wishes) against law as well as religion. The
destress that Shakespeare painted Hamlet to be in(or the literary text) may describe why there was so
much friction between Hamlet following up on his father s wishes. Psychoanalysis is a way to
describe one s subconscious state of mind. Hamlet s fervid, divinizing praise of his

The Ethics Of Scientific Knowledge
Cortni Volkman
7/30/2015
Science surrounds just about every aspect of human interaction but where does this scientific
knowledge come from? The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to
that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure
scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge
within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas,
leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among
various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community
is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific
knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and
expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to
exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse
than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether
from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more
advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). Such bias from technological means can even
limit what scientists can publish. Often the military relies on scientists for their expertise in

Discrimination In The Movie The Help
Within the movie The Help there are a variety of major issues represented, most directly the
discrimination that existed in the 1960s. The movie itself follows the journey of a white, budding
journalist and her relationship with two black maids, Aibileen and Minny, during the Civil Rights
Movement in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi. To start off her career as a journalist she decides to write a
book, titled The Help, recounting the experiences of the black maids in her town to help expose
racism. The movie itself is very critical of the racial discrimination that existed in its time frame but
some say that it silently communicates racist tones throughout the entire movie. This argument is
justified as the movie often found itself highlighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the movie there s a continued feeling of helplessness with the black maids, with how desperate
their situations seem to be. But, that all changes when Skeeter decides to start writing about the
hardships that they have. All of a sudden everything seems to be a little lighter, more hopeful as soon a
Skeeter is implemented into the movie. Although it may be historically accurate at the time that there
weren t many black journalists, the black maids at the very least could ve written their story
themselves and perhaps taken a more forward and progressive role to reveal the discrimination that
they faced. But, in the movie the black maids do nothing until Skeeter arrives. An example of this
happens in the movie where there was no one was willing to talk about their own problems until
Skeeter started asking around. Although this would have been accurate for the time period for the
movie as they would have been scared of the repercussions, it gives a sense of helplessness for the
black community. Some people would ve for sure started to talk and write about ehr own problems
especially at the time period that the movie was taking place with Martin Luther King and his civil
rights march. This was the time period of major change in the U.S.A especially for black communities
since they finally had a voice. Furthermore, once Skeeter finished writing her book it seemed as if
everyone instantly started to read the book and started treated black maids better. Perhaps it time it
would result in events that did happen in the movie, but obviously this wouldn t happen overnight or
even over a week as seen. All of this makes the viewer of The Help feel as if Skeeter was the main
driving force of the movement in her town and she should be the one praised, not the black maids who
had to suffer and risked everything by telling their

Preventing PEDs in Professional Sports Essay
The use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) among athletes in professional sports has caused an
outrage all around the world for many years.
The use of PEDs not only affects the athlete that chooses to use them, but also the athletes they are
competing against, other teams, and the team or country they are representing ( Survey Reveals ). It is
important for athletes to maintain a good reputation in competition, because they need to represent
their team in a positive manner and not create suspicion or problems surrounding the athlete and the
team. Using PEDs will cause negative issues and poor reputations for the affected team. For instance,
Austrian skier Johannes Duerr admitted to using EPO and was eliminated from competition. ... Show

Many professional sports including baseball, basketball, and most Olympic sports have suffered

Countries such as the United States, Austria, Jamaica, Switzerland, and Kenya have also had a great
amount of PED issues of their own over time and are attempting to create broader policies and
consequences regarding PED use among their athletes (Macur). Future athletes need to be educated
and understand that performance enhancing drugs are wrong and violate the rules of sportsmanship

International Olympic Committee (IOC) take the use of performance enhancing drugs, or PED s, by
athletes and coaches very seriously. They have imposed harsher consequences and have created more
frequent testing protocols. All are developing stronger methods to prevent use of in the years to come.
There are several possible effective solutions to prevent future use of PEDs in professional sports. The
first possible solution is increased use of blood testing as opposed to other testing methods such as
urine tests. Blood testing has been

A Comparison of Two Murderers
In the Edgar Allan Poe stories The Cask of Amontillado and The Tell Tale Heart the most prominent
and important themes that are used are death, logic, and irony. The characters of the narrator and
Montresor in these stories are both coldblooded murders that kill for selfish, and inane reasons who
firmly believe that their actions are justified even though their rationalizations only make sense in
their own minds. They both try to convince their audience that they are completely sane by giving
their explanations about why they did what they did as well as their motives for killing their victims.
In admitting how they murdered victims, who appear to be innocent to everyone besides them, they
only succeed in proving their insanity. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knows that logically the only way lure Fortunado into the catacombs successfully is to make him
feel safe and then betray him at the last moment. When he lures Fortunado into the catacombs he gives
him many opportunities to get out of it but he does not suspect Montresor of anything so he continues
to trust him. There is also a considerable amount of irony in both of the stories. The best example is
when they try to convince the audience that they are completely sane and that their actions are
justified. The narrator tirelessly attempts to convince whoever he is telling his story to that he is
perfectly sane while recounting how he viciously murdered an old man he claimed to love, chopped
up his body, and hid him in the floorboards all because he didn t like his vulture eye. While he
believes that he is going to persuade his audience that he was in his right mind, all he is doing his
backing up the assumption that he is mentally ill and is in no way sane. Montresor does not try as hard
to make his listeners believe in his sanity. His victim, Fortunado, as a character is also a good example
of irony. His name, which translates to lucky , proves to be extremely ironic when he is the one that
ends up being killed. He is given many hints by Montresor as to what will happen to him as well as
many opportunities to turn back but his ego and competitiveness with his rival Luchresi ends up
sealing his fate. He says in

Is The American Dream True Essay
The American Dream is an idea that was crucial to the foundation of the United states and what it
meant to be an American . This dream is the belief that anybody can come to America and have life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It also implies that everyone can have equal opportunities to find
success and independence. Though the perception of this dream has been warped throughout time, the
true
American dream of achieving one s own idea of happiness is still attainable today.
The idea of the American dream was first introduced in the Declaration of Independence, which was
written by the nation s founding fathers. They based the declaration and the foundation of this country
on the revolutionary idea that each person s desire to pursue happiness was not just self indulgence
(Amadeo). The idea that these desires are a part of the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness. These beliefs also founded the basic ideas for the American dream. A dream of

The Mad Scientist Archetype Is Portrayed In The Media
How The Mad Scientist Archetype Is Portrayed In The Media A common stereotype of scientists in the
media is the mad scientist role. This is a chilling figure that appears in many movies and television
shows that feature scientists. They are portrayed as someone who is sinister and isolated. The book
Lab Coats in Hollywood: Science, Scientists, and Cinema by David Kirby talks about how science is
inaccurately shown in the media. He notes, cinematic depictions of science involve the production and
presentation of an image of science, whether or not the science has anything to do with the real
science (Kirby 117). An insane scientist is not actually a realistic label but adds drama to the media,
which is why it is used. The typecast of a scientist being insane and sheltered may turn many children
away from joining a STEM career. Many scholars have researched this mad scientist stereotype.
However, the researchers have not discussed the children s show Phineas and Ferb. One main
character in the show is a crazy scientist, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. This popular show has been
watched by millions of children and may have impacted their ideas and turned them away from being
a scientist due to the stereotype of scientists being bizarre and unsociable. Producers in the media
create these villain like scientists for the thrill in movies and television series. Christopher Frayling the

Taking a Look at the American Film Industry
After taking a closer look at the film industry in the current years, it is easy to see that the structure
market of this industry is an oligopolistic market. This means that there are several big companies that
contribute to more than fifty percent of the production of films produced each year. At the moment
some of the companies that together combine for more than this fifty percent are Sony, Warner
Brothers, Disney, and Paramount. These big production companies have a big hold on the market, and
are able to produce movies each month to keep a tight grip on the market share. This makes them the
leaders in this market, but there is still room for a private independent company to produce a film and
have great success ( Leading domestic distributors , 2013).
The film industry is in the business to entertain, so it falls under the entertainment business. This
opens the competition to a much broader sphere. There are so many other competitors under this
category that it is necessary to narrow it down to a more precise competition. When talking about the
entertainment industry this includes sports, video games, theme parks, television shows, live theater,
and music, but it s not helpful to compare to the film industry with all these other entertainment
sectors. The focus will be on television shows and video games, which are more closely related to the
film industry. In 2010 this section of television, films, and video games had revenue of $30 billion.

Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas Essay
Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas
The dominant political figure of German history in the twentieth century, Adolf Hitler, was born in a
lower middle class family in the provincial Austrian town of Braunau am Inn on 20 April 1889. In
1907 Hitler applied to enter the Vienna Academy of Art but his application was rejected. After the
death of his mother Klara, Hitler decided to move to Vienna. He drifted from job to job, often selling
sketches or painting scenes of Old Vienna and it was a period that he himself later called the most
miserable period of his life. Many of Hitler s views of the world were shaped by his experiences on
the streets of Vienna and it is probable that his violent anti Semitism dates from this time. ... Show

A central theme of Hitler s thinking was the concept of struggle. In the nineteenth century the
naturalist Charles Darwin had explained how in the world of nature when the environment changed
some of the species with favourable variations survived better that others. Darwin called this natural
selection .
Social Darwinism was a concept that emerged later in the nineteenth century suggesting that what
applied to nature could also apply to human society that the strong prevail over the weak, that superior
races prevail over inferior races. This concept with its theme of struggle and survival of the fittest
appealed to Hitler. Struggle wrote Hitler is the father of all things...He who wants to live must fight
and who does not want to fight in this world where external struggle is the law of life has no right to
exist *.
In Mein Kamph Hitler offered some insight into his thinking on exercise of power and in particular the
important role of propaganda, his contempt of parliamentary democracy and the Weimar Republic.
Hitler also wrote of the need for a national revival and the quest for living space. Hitler linked his
hatred of communism with his hatred of Jews. In Hitler s mind Russia was the centre

The Domestication of Animals Was the Percursor to Genetic...
The domestication of animals 30,000 years ago was the precursor to Genetic Engineering. Starting
with the dog we have since been able to introduce desirable traits in all organisms. With the discovery
of plasmids in the late 60 s we have been able to take genetic engineering even further. Plasmids are
small circular DNA molecules used to amplify and replicate a gene of interest. These minute
molecules have the ability to replicate with the chromosome or independently, allowing them to have
up to a 100 copies in one cell. Plasmids are important because of their characteristics to transfer genes
that occur naturally within them or acting as a vector to introduce foreign DNA into a host cell. With
the use of plasmids genetic engineers are able to use bacterial transformation to make medicines.
Bacterial transformation is the process in which a bacterial cell takes up foreign DNA and incorporates
this DNA into its own. With the use bacterial transformation this part of Genetic Engineering has
become the most important and widely used technique, creating life saving antibiotics and medicines.
E.coli is generally used in these procedures because of its ability to adapt and grow exponentially.
Genetic Engineers can then use large bacterial colonies, Ampicillin, and X gal to indicate if b
glactosidase is present along with identifying the recombinant and non recombinant colonies. The
transformed bacteria that contains ampicillin will spread and survive either turning white

Pramipexole Research Paper
Pramipexole is a medication indicated for treating Parkinson s disease and restless legs syndrome
(RLS). It is also used in treatment for cluster headache or to counteract the problems with low libido
experienced by some users of SSRI antidepressant drugs. Pramipexole has shown robust effects on
pilot studies in bipolar disorder. Pramipexole is classified as a non ergoline dopamine agonist.
Chemical name: (S) N6 Propyl 4,5,6,7 tetrahydrobenzo[d]thiazole 2,6 diamine dihydrochloride
Molecular formula : C10H19Cl2N3S Molecular weight : 284.243 g/mol Solubility : Freely soluble in
water Colour : white to yellowish white Protein binding : 15% Half life : 8 hours Dose : 0.125, 0.25,
0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5, 3 and 4 mg. Phrmacodynamics: Pramipexole is a nonergot dopamine agonist with
high relative in vitro specificity and full intrinsic activity at the D2 subfamily of dopamine receptors,
binding with higher affinity to D3 than to D2 or D4 receptor subtypes. The relevance of D3 receptor
binding in Parkinson s disease is unknown. The precise mechanism of action of Pramipexole as a
treatment for Parkinson s disease is unknown, although it is believed to be related to its ability to
stimulate dopamine receptors in the striatum. This conclusion is supported by electrophysiologic
studies in animals that have demonstrated that Pramipexole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Urinary excretion is the major route of pramipexole elimination, with 90% of a pramipexole dose

clearance of pramipexole is approximately 400 mL/min (CV=25%), approximately three times higher
than the glomerular filtration rate. Thus, pramipexole is secreted by the renal tubules, probably by the

Project Plan And Workflow For Complete The Final Video
Project Methodology:
In this chapter, I present the project plan and workflow I used to complete the final video. In the
last part I discuss other software programs used to accomplish other tasks in the post production
stage.
Production Workflow:
The process to complete the insertion of a CG into a life footage is the same as a media production
workflow. The matchmoving process is part of an animation workflow which is part of the production
workflow. To achieve the final footage there is need to incorporate inherit workflows together.
Video Production Workflow:
To create a film, the process need to follow the basis of the media production workflow.

This is the main focus of this project.
After my research into the matchmoving workflow, I decided to create an adaptation of a workflow
that
will suit this project.
Figure 2: A basic VFX workflow showing the production stages.
I decided to combine the production workflow and the basic matchmoving workflow so as to
accommodate
changes during the project. In figure1 below it shows a basic animation production workflow with the
corresponding video production stages and figure2 is a basic matchmove workflow with the different
production stages. The incorporation of CG into a live footage involves a large scale of processes.
Figure 3: A basic Matchmove workflow showing production stages.
In a simple VFX scene, the animator is responsible for the 3D creation, a visual artist is
responsible for the composite and the key role is played by the matchmover who create the CG camera
from the real camera and ensure others have the generated CG scene to work with. The matchmoving
usually happens early in the production workflow.
Figure 4: Adapted Workflow for the project.
I was able to derive this workflow for the insertion of the 3D into the live action footage. The
production is divided into 3 stages as a normal video production process.
Pre Production: I decided to have this into 2 stages. The first stage was a plan of the video
sequence plot.
The evaluation stage is a part of the matchmoving process but doesn t

the United States Census Bureau, Orange County inhabits approximately 770, 513 Spanish speakers in
Southern California, compared to about 3,948 Spanish speakers in Kent County, Rhode Island in 2016
( Language Spoken at Home ). Comparing the West Coast county from the East Coast, Spanish
speakers retain their language despite the population gap between two separate sites of the U.S. Yet,
the language use may become a community language rather than a foreign language as it is introduced

Some immigrants have trouble adapting to a new lifestyle because of limited resources. Yet, other
immigrants who did not have much of a difficult time were able to integrate Spanish into a new
society. For instance, Areli Martinez, a Mexican immigrant studying Psychology at UCLA, moved to
the U.S. with her family in pursuit of better quality of life did not experience much difficulty in
adjusting. From an email interview (see email interview above), she mentions her experiences as a
Spanish speaker in California. Although it was not difficult for Martinez to adjust, her implications
included language barriers and weak cultural values (see email response below). Due to language
barriers and lack of cultural values, Martinez struggled with grammar and placing her thoughts on

diversity and freedom to create her own values. Further, she also realizes that importance of Spanish
in both the U.S. and Mexico (Martinez). With regards to the historical roots of Spanish, the Western
hemisphere have benefited from the monopolization of this language because it brings cultural and
linguistic ties from a global perspective. Through Spanish, immigrants obtain a sense of identity in a
heterogeneous nation and benefit from it as an emerging

Specific Phobias
The most common treatment for specific phobias is a form of psychotherapy called exposure therapy,
although other treatments include other therapies or medication (Andrews et al. 2009). The goal of
treatment for specific phobias is to improve quality of life so that patients are no longer limited by
their phobias. Exposure therapy focuses on changing the response to the object or situation feared.
Gradual, repeated exposure to the source of the specific phobia and the related thoughts, feelings and
sensations can help patients to learn to manage their anxiety (Andrews et al. 2009). There are many
variations of exposure therapy. In vivo exposure involves confronting the phobic stimulus head on but
gradually. For example, a patient suffering

bankruptcy. TPG identified Ducati as a high end product with enormous potential for growth but
realized that serious change was required if Ducati was to ever fulfill this potential. TPG decided to

Ducati had managed to successfully establish itself as a producer of high quality, reliable and stylish
motorcycles. They did this through an aggressive outsourcing policy, using strict supplier criteria,
using the platform approach to production and by leveraging the advantages of being located in the
highly sophisticated Emilian mechanical district. Ducati outsourced around 87% of their production,
which was the highest in the industry. By outsourcing to highly specialized components producers in
the Emilian district Ducati could focus on the key value adders such as design, R D, the production of
strategic parts and quality control. Ducati was very selective and placed great emphasis on the quality
of its suppliers, so its number of suppliers decreased from 200 to 130. It typically identified at least 2
suppliers for each component and signed only short term contracts with them. This provided Ducati
with a pool of highly competitive and dedicated suppliers. A big factor in the efficiency of the
production process was the platform approach to production. Ducati would divide motorcycles into a
small number of large components which would consist of smaller subcomponents. A key supplier
would then be made responsible for a component and managing the suppliers for the respective
subcomponents. Heavy investment in R D was made and an internal design division

The Amazing Penguin Race And Saving Penguins, One Sweater...
A devastating oil spill, 40,000 penguins and the humans that saved their lives (Tarshish 15). The oil

The Amazing Penguin Rescue and Saving Penguins, One Sweater At A Time have many similarities
and differences such as conflict and the solution to helping the penguins.
One similarity between The Amazing Penguin Race and Saving Penguins, One Sweater At A Time is
the conflict. In both stories people are trying to save penguins that have been harmed. An example is,
when the humans were trying to save the penguins life All they care about is saving your life (Tarshis

In Saving Penguins, One Sweater at a Time people saved the penguins by giving the penguins
sweaters to keep them warm. An example is, when people put the sweaters on the penguins But
Amazingly the sweaters did the trick, warming the penguins and keeping them from preening (Lewis
19). People were trying to keep the penguins warm. They put tiny sweaters on the penguins because
the oil was made their feathers not protect them from the cold. On the other hand, in Amazing Penguin
Rescue people take the penguins to a facility to be cleaned and fed. For instance, A team of scientist
and volunteers have transformed a warehouse into a penguin rescue center (Tarshis 17). People needed
a place for the penguins to go after they rescued them. Scientist and people fed the penguins and got
them healthy inside the rescue center. Then, the rescues released the penguins back into the wild.
Therefore, Saving Penguins, One Sweater at a Time and Amazing Penguin Rescue have different
solutions to saving the

Mechanical Valve Induced Lung Injury
During mechanical ventilation, patients are at risk of injuries to their lungs caused by improper
settings on ventilators. Mechanical ventilator induced lung injury (VILI) can affect the lung in several
ways. Some of the ways the lung become affected is by excessive pressure, excessive volume, and not
enough volume. When the lungs are affected by excessive pressure its termed pulmonary barotrauma.
On the other hand, if the lungs receive too much volume it s called volutrauma. However, when the
lungs don t receive enough volume its termed atelectrauma. This paper describes how pulmonary
barotrauma, pulmonary volutrauma, and pulmonary atelectrauma affects the lungs during mechanical
ventilation and ways to prevent them from happening. The first ventilator induced lung injury that I
want to discuss is pulmonary barotrauma. Pulmonary barotrauma is a lung complication caused by too
much positive pressure forced into the lungs by a mechanical ventilator. Pulmonary barotrauma occurs
when the alveolar begins to rupture due to elevated transalveolar pressure. Transalveolar pressure is a
function of both the tidal volume and the overall compliance of the lungs. Researchers use plateau
pressures to get an estimation of transalveolar pressure. Plateau pressures can be used as a tool to help
measure for the risk of pulmonary barotrauma. Researchers have discovered that plateau pressures less
than 30 cmH2O have shown to reduce the cause of pulmonary barotrauma. Guy W. Soo wrote

The Worst Flood Of The Mississippi River Basin
In 1993, the Midwest experienced the worst flood in American history affecting ten states in the Upper
Mississippi River basin. The flooding lasted from late spring to fall, killing fifty two people and
damaging a 100,000 homes and businesses. The cause of the flooding was a heavy winter with lots of
snow and a spring season full of rain, which saturated the soil. Instead, of a hot summer, the rain kept
coming and the Upper Mississippi River Basin received three and a half times its normal rain. Since it
continuously rained, the water levels kept rising and many of the levees broke. The water levels stayed
high for weeks destroying towns and agriculture all throughout the Midwest.
One of the main issues leading up to the flood of 1993 was the failed communication and partnership
between local, state, and federal governments. The federal government is in charge of floodplain
management instead of the local and state government, which prevents local governments becoming
involved. This form of management flaw became revealed by the amount of damage the flood made.
The reason the damage was so devastating and so many people lost their homes and businesses is
because the federal government failed to understand the Executive Order of 1977 and permitted
building in the flood plains. Some examples of the EO being understood are a low income housing
project funded by HUD and a federally funded state prison within floodplains, and a proposed
construction of a federal weather

about social and economic environment. From a social demographic perspective: Western countries

probably exacerbate the tendency of Western manufactures to shift their production in Eastern

side their production costs. As final result, volumes shipments imbalance over transoceanic shipping

Introduction Of The Movie Avatar
Introduction:
The film Avatar (italics on titles plus remove the bold writing on your paragraphs and remove all the
planning above when you submit the final) directed by James Cameron is the story of Jake Sully; the
man who is asked to take the place of his twin brothers place at Pandora for a scientific experiment. At
the start he was very hesitant toward taking his brothers (apostrophe) place, there were times when he
felt like not continuing with the program. Along the way he faced a series on tests, allies and enemies.
The end result is what he was starting to want near the end of the movie.(the more formal term is film)
Body:
When he was first called to the mission he had moments of refusal because it was a scientific task and
he was in the marine prior to this, therefore he was used to going in all guns blazing rather than trying
to figure it out scientifically and appreciating who they are and what their land means to them. Other
people were not accepting of him, due to his paralysis, causing him to be in a wheelchair. There is
evidence of this when someone from the army side says to their friend that he is meals on wheels .
Later in the movie, once Jake had figured out that the avatars are nice and that the army shouldn t
(avoid contraction should not) be destroying their land, he starts to refuse orders from Kernell (the
army leader). Kernell was demanding that he told him important things (be precise what are these
important thing exactly?) about the avatars so it would be easier to destroy them, but jake could keep
changing from an avatar to a human, so when he came back to the human life he would usually start to
fill Kernell in on what happened but near the end he stopped telling him so he could save the avatars.
He realised that the avatars were actually really nice and approving of him after a while.

of mobile phones, more and more people like to use mobile phones even get addicted to mobile
phones. They use mobile phones anywhere especially for the teenagers. It seems that mobile phones
become a basic necessity of life. Relations between mobile phones and driving Using mobile phones
while driving has a bad effect on drivers. This is not only related to the drivers safety, but also related
to the road safety (Healey, 2015). The findings show the short term effect of a teenage driver cell
phone restriction. Even though the law took effect, it has little effect on teenage drivers use of cell
phones (Foss et al 2009). However, under this situation, there are lots of teenagers like to use the

  • 2. NASA Economic Lens Chuck Tang Period 4 Capstone 1/13/16 Space Exploration Economic Lens On July 21, 1969, the United States rocket Apollo 11 landed on the moon, marking a monumental and unprecedented feat of mankind. Culminated as the product of breakthrough innovations in engineering and physics and overwhelming government support (which granted NASA over 4% of the federal budget), the moon landing was the crowning moment of NASA s accomplishments. At that time, a new era of space exploration seemed to be on the verge of occurrence. However, fifty years later, NASA has seemed to have fallen from its old glory, with the United States Federal government spending only 0.5% of the nation s federal budget on its space endeavors. With increased concerns of NASA s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Citing cases such as SpaceX, which built a rocket named the dragon 320x cheaper than NASA s spaceship the Orion, many opponents to governmental space exploration heavily recommend NASA to privatize many of its sectors. However, contrary to popular belief, NASA is not an entirely government run corporation and in essence has already inherently privatized almost all of its sectors which should be privatized to cut down costs. For instance, NASAAdministrator Chris Scolese told a congressional subcommittee back in 2009 that the agency will give $150 million in stimulus package money to private companies that design, build and service their own rockets. Furthermore, NASA has picked three private companies to act as its International Space Station delivery service through the next eight years. The contractors of SpaceX, Orbital ATK, and Sierra Nevada Corporation will transport supplies up to the International Space Station and back to NASA starting in late 2019. Most importantly, President Obama announced in his Space Plan that his goal was to restructure NASA to focus on space research and development while reassigning the other tasks of NASA to private corporations. Thus, the claim that NASA needs to privatize falls hollow because NASA is already privatizing the sectors which should be privatized. The majority of sectors that NASA funds in the status quo lies in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Effectively And Appropriately Am I Performing How Effectively/Appropriately Am I Performing this/these Genre Attempt(s): Have taken detailed peer review notes; make your peer reviewer(s) go into troubleshooting detail on workshop days: Insist that they look for problems or flaws. Deal with more than sentence level issues (grammar, punctuation, etc.), but do mention those if that s an issue. Then, go beyond what the peer reviewer(s) might have said. Write also a self assessment. While I usually discourage writing a 5 paragraph essay, that might not be a bad strategy for completing this and the previous section. In their review of our PowerPoint, one thing they stated was, The only thing that we would change is the font. It seems to be very close together and difficult to read. We took these two suggestions into consideration, and decided it would be best to follow their advice and change up the font and spacing. We changed the font sizes of both the titles and subtitles to fit best for the specific slide. Each slide now has different font sizes and formatting to make it most appealing for specific slide that it is on, and it made our presentation easier to follow. Another suggestion that we received was The bullet points are not consistent throughout the PowerPoint . This was a silly mistake that would have been foolish to leave in a presentation addressing a professional audience. After looking at what our reviewers were referencing, we noticed that the bullets changed shape as the presentation progressed. This made the presentation inconsistent and we decided that it had to be changed. Changing the presentation to make the bullets consistent made our presentation appear much more professional. The final suggestion that we received on the Powerpoint from the peer review pertained to the titles of the slides. They pointed out a couple problems with our titles stating It is not necessary to capitalize words like the or of . After looking over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout my short seventeen years of painting my life I have been learning new techniques and skills along the way. Mixing the bright and the dark colors into a mural of astounding beauty. I see the world as my canvas, a way to share joy, happiness, hurt, and emotions with others. A current medium I love to work with is clay. A ball of earth that can be shaped and molded into something exquisite. Through the struggle of working with this exerting my strength and might into shaping and forming the clay this art has shaped me as well. Dedication, strength, and patience, Patience, PATIENCE. While yes, everyone can sit down and squish a bowl together the impact it has made on me is irreversible. There were many days all the stress was bearing down on me and I felt as if my head was about to explode or I would give up, but I still trekked to the ceramics studio. I d get my clay and start centering, and pulling, and shaping. I worked myself into every piece I made. My aggressions, stress, and tensions were absorbed into the clay as I beared down on it. I never left ceramics downtrodden, even if the wheel was not treating me kindly. I hope the empty bowls project made an impact on the students involved as well. I owe them so much gratitude this would not be possible without their help and talents. They were a part of something great, and they will continue to be. Every bowl that was sold has a story, it was made with two willing hands and a brilliant mind. I want to tell you a story about a little girl I met at the empty bowls event. I do not know her name, how old she is, or even who she was with that night, but she was the biggest impact of the entire empty bowls project for me. Revenge tragedy is seeking revenge for wrongdoings done against someone in a literary work. Usually, the person seeking this revenge is the protagonist and the plot is usually developed throughout their journey to get their rightful revenge. Revenge tragedy is also the central conflict within a literary work. In the play, Hamlet,Young Fortinbras, and Laertes are all examples of revenge tragedy. Hamlet ironically isn t a person that shows to have the desire of seeking revenge and this is ironic because most of the time the protagonist of a revenge tragedy work desires revenge. Hamlet refrained from killing his own mother, thereby demonstrating Shakespeare s greater respect for the rules of manner proper to Persons . (Grazia 2003) This philosophical criticism used provides an understanding to the meaning of the work because it clearly displays the stance Shakespeare had when it came to philosophy and morals and this could be seen throughout Hamlet as well. Shakespeare is more able to get his meaning and message of his literary work Hamlet over to the readers by describing their psyche and their subconscious thoughts, as seen with Hamlet several times. Psychoanalytic criticism is the idea that literary text express the private unconscious desires of the author as well as their inner psyche or persona. Shakespeare constructs Hamlet to be a very psychoanalytic character. The literary text of Hamlet s thoughts tie to his desires and grievances. In the work, Hamlet tells his father that he will fulfill his father s wishes and get revenge on Claudius, his uncle. This brings upon the idea of Paternity(his father s wishes) against law as well as religion. The destress that Shakespeare painted Hamlet to be in(or the literary text) may describe why there was so much friction between Hamlet following up on his father s wishes. • 6. The Ethics Of Scientific Knowledge Cortni Volkman 7/30/2015 Science surrounds just about every aspect of human interaction but where does this scientific knowledge come from? The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas, leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). Such bias from technological means can even limit what scientists can publish. Often the military relies on scientists for their expertise in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Discrimination In The Movie The Help Within the movie The Help there are a variety of major issues represented, most directly the discrimination that existed in the 1960s. The movie itself follows the journey of a white, budding journalist and her relationship with two black maids, Aibileen and Minny, during the Civil Rights Movement in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi. To start off her career as a journalist she decides to write a book, titled The Help, recounting the experiences of the black maids in her town to help expose racism. The movie itself is very critical of the racial discrimination that existed in its time frame but some say that it silently communicates racist tones throughout the entire movie. This argument is justified as the movie often found itself highlighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the movie there s a continued feeling of helplessness with the black maids, with how desperate their situations seem to be. But, that all changes when Skeeter decides to start writing about the hardships that they have. All of a sudden everything seems to be a little lighter, more hopeful as soon a Skeeter is implemented into the movie. Although it may be historically accurate at the time that there weren t many black journalists, the black maids at the very least could ve written their story themselves and perhaps taken a more forward and progressive role to reveal the discrimination that they faced. But, in the movie the black maids do nothing until Skeeter arrives. An example of this happens in the movie where there was no one was willing to talk about their own problems until Skeeter started asking around. Although this would have been accurate for the time period for the movie as they would have been scared of the repercussions, it gives a sense of helplessness for the black community. Some people would ve for sure started to talk and write about ehr own problems especially at the time period that the movie was taking place with Martin Luther King and his civil rights march. This was the time period of major change in the U.S.A especially for black communities since they finally had a voice. Furthermore, once Skeeter finished writing her book it seemed as if everyone instantly started to read the book and started treated black maids better. Perhaps it time it would result in events that did happen in the movie, but obviously this wouldn t happen overnight or even over a week as seen. All of this makes the viewer of The Help feel as if Skeeter was the main driving force of the movement in her town and she should be the one praised, not the black maids who had to suffer and risked everything by telling their ... The use of PEDs not only affects the athlete that chooses to use them, but also the athletes they are competing against, other teams, and the team or country they are representing ( Survey Reveals ). It is important for athletes to maintain a good reputation in competition, because they need to represent their team in a positive manner and not create suspicion or problems surrounding the athlete and the team. Using PEDs will cause negative issues and poor reputations for the affected team. For instance, Austrian skier Johannes Duerr admitted to using EPO and was eliminated from competition. ... These teams and countries have had many issues surrounding the use of PEDs and getting past scandals and controversies involving athletes who used PEDs to gain competitive edge. Countries such as the United States, Austria, Jamaica, Switzerland, and Kenya have also had a great amount of PED issues of their own over time and are attempting to create broader policies and consequences regarding PED use among their athletes (Macur). Future athletes need to be educated and understand that performance enhancing drugs are wrong and violate the rules of sportsmanship (Survey Reveals). Many professional sports associations, including the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), and even the International Olympic Committee (IOC) take the use of performance enhancing drugs, or PED s, by athletes and coaches very seriously. The characters of the narrator and Montresor in these stories are both coldblooded murders that kill for selfish, and inane reasons who firmly believe that their actions are justified even though their rationalizations only make sense in their own minds. They both try to convince their audience that they are completely sane by giving their explanations about why they did what they did as well as their motives for killing their victims. When he lures Fortunado into the catacombs he gives him many opportunities to get out of it but he does not suspect Montresor of anything so he continues to trust him. There is also a considerable amount of irony in both of the stories. The best example is when they try to convince the audience that they are completely sane and that their actions are justified. The narrator tirelessly attempts to convince whoever he is telling his story to that he is perfectly sane while recounting how he viciously murdered an old man he claimed to love, chopped up his body, and hid him in the floorboards all because he didn t like his vulture eye. While he believes that he is going to persuade his audience that he was in his right mind, all he is doing his backing up the assumption that he is mentally ill and is in no way sane. Montresor does not try as hard to make his listeners believe in his sanity. His victim, Fortunado, as a character is also a good example of irony. His name, which translates to lucky , proves to be extremely ironic when he is the one that ends up being killed. He is given many hints by Montresor as to what will happen to him as well as many opportunities to turn back but his ego and competitiveness with his rival Luchresi ends up sealing his fate. This dream is the belief that anybody can come to America and have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It also implies that everyone can have equal opportunities to find success and independence. Though the perception of this dream has been warped throughout time, the true American dream of achieving one s own idea of happiness is still attainable today. The idea of the American dream was first introduced in the Declaration of Independence, which was written by the nation s founding fathers. They based the declaration and the foundation of this country on the revolutionary idea that each person s desire to pursue happiness was not just self indulgence (Amadeo). This is a chilling figure that appears in many movies and television shows that feature scientists. They are portrayed as someone who is sinister and isolated. The book Lab Coats in Hollywood: Science, Scientists, and Cinema by David Kirby talks about how science is inaccurately shown in the media. He notes, cinematic depictions of science involve the production and presentation of an image of science, whether or not the science has anything to do with the real science (Kirby 117). An insane scientist is not actually a realistic label but adds drama to the media, which is why it is used. The typecast of a scientist being insane and sheltered may turn many children away from joining a STEM career. Many scholars have researched this mad scientist stereotype. However, the researchers have not discussed the children s show Phineas and Ferb. One main character in the show is a crazy scientist, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. This popular show has been watched by millions of children and may have impacted their ideas and turned them away from being a scientist due to the stereotype of scientists being bizarre and unsociable. Taking a Look at the American Film Industry After taking a closer look at the film industry in the current years, it is easy to see that the structure market of this industry is an oligopolistic market. This means that there are several big companies that contribute to more than fifty percent of the production of films produced each year. At the moment some of the companies that together combine for more than this fifty percent are Sony, Warner Brothers, Disney, and Paramount. These big production companies have a big hold on the market, and are able to produce movies each month to keep a tight grip on the market share. This makes them the leaders in this market, but there is still room for a private independent company to produce a film and have great success ( Leading domestic distributors , 2013). The film industry is in the business to entertain, so it falls under the entertainment business. This opens the competition to a much broader sphere. There are so many other competitors under this category that it is necessary to narrow it down to a more precise competition. When talking about the entertainment industry this includes sports, video games, theme parks, television shows, live theater, and music, but it s not helpful to compare to the film industry with all these other entertainment sectors. In 1907 Hitler applied to enter the Vienna Academy of Art but his application was rejected. After the death of his mother Klara, Hitler decided to move to Vienna. • 22. The Domestication of Animals Was the Percursor to Genetic... The domestication of animals 30,000 years ago was the precursor to Genetic Engineering. Starting with the dog we have since been able to introduce desirable traits in all organisms. With the discovery of plasmids in the late 60 s we have been able to take genetic engineering even further. Plasmids are small circular DNA molecules used to amplify and replicate a gene of interest. These minute molecules have the ability to replicate with the chromosome or independently, allowing them to have up to a 100 copies in one cell. Plasmids are important because of their characteristics to transfer genes that occur naturally within them or acting as a vector to introduce foreign DNA into a host cell. With the use of plasmids genetic engineers are able to use bacterial transformation to make medicines. Bacterial transformation is the process in which a bacterial cell takes up foreign DNA and incorporates this DNA into its own. With the use bacterial transformation this part of Genetic Engineering has become the most important and widely used technique, creating life saving antibiotics and medicines. E.coli is generally used in these procedures because of its ability to adapt and grow exponentially. Genetic Engineers can then use large bacterial colonies, Ampicillin, and X gal to indicate if b glactosidase is present along with identifying the recombinant and non recombinant colonies. • 31. Mechanical Valve Induced Lung Injury During mechanical ventilation, patients are at risk of injuries to their lungs caused by improper settings on ventilators. Mechanical ventilator induced lung injury (VILI) can affect the lung in several ways. Some of the ways the lung become affected is by excessive pressure, excessive volume, and not enough volume. When the lungs are affected by excessive pressure its termed pulmonary barotrauma. On the other hand, if the lungs receive too much volume it s called volutrauma. However, when the lungs don t receive enough volume its termed atelectrauma. This paper describes how pulmonary barotrauma, pulmonary volutrauma, and pulmonary atelectrauma affects the lungs during mechanical ventilation and ways to prevent them from happening. The first ventilator induced lung injury that I want to discuss is pulmonary barotrauma. Pulmonary barotrauma is a lung complication caused by too much positive pressure forced into the lungs by a mechanical ventilator. Pulmonary barotrauma occurs when the alveolar begins to rupture due to elevated transalveolar pressure. Transalveolar pressure is a function of both the tidal volume and the overall compliance of the lungs. Researchers use plateau pressures to get an estimation of transalveolar pressure. Plateau pressures can be used as a tool to help measure for the risk of pulmonary barotrauma. Researchers have discovered that plateau pressures less than 30 cmH2O have shown to reduce the cause of pulmonary barotrauma. Guy W. Soo wrote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Worst Flood Of The Mississippi River Basin In 1993, the Midwest experienced the worst flood in American history affecting ten states in the Upper Mississippi River basin. The flooding lasted from late spring to fall, killing fifty two people and damaging a 100,000 homes and businesses. The cause of the flooding was a heavy winter with lots of snow and a spring season full of rain, which saturated the soil. Instead, of a hot summer, the rain kept coming and the Upper Mississippi River Basin received three and a half times its normal rain. Since it continuously rained, the water levels kept rising and many of the levees broke. The water levels stayed high for weeks destroying towns and agriculture all throughout the Midwest. One of the main issues leading up to the flood of 1993 was the failed communication and partnership between local, state, and federal governments. The federal government is in charge of floodplain management instead of the local and state government, which prevents local governments becoming involved. This form of management flaw became revealed by the amount of damage the flood made. The reason the damage was so devastating and so many people lost their homes and businesses is because the federal government failed to understand the Executive Order of 1977 and permitted building in the flood plains. Some examples of the EO being understood are a low income housing project funded by HUD and a federally funded state prison within floodplains, and a proposed construction of a federal weather ... • 35. Introduction Of The Movie Avatar Introduction: The film Avatar (italics on titles plus remove the bold writing on your paragraphs and remove all the planning above when you submit the final) directed by James Cameron is the story of Jake Sully; the man who is asked to take the place of his twin brothers place at Pandora for a scientific experiment. At the start he was very hesitant toward taking his brothers (apostrophe) place, there were times when he felt like not continuing with the program. Along the way he faced a series on tests, allies and enemies. The end result is what he was starting to want near the end of the movie.(the more formal term is film) Body: When he was first called to the mission he had moments of refusal because it was a scientific task and he was in the marine prior to this, therefore he was used to going in all guns blazing rather than trying to figure it out scientifically and appreciating who they are and what their land means to them. Other people were not accepting of him, due to his paralysis, causing him to be in a wheelchair. There is evidence of this when someone from the army side says to their friend that he is meals on wheels . Later in the movie, once Jake had figured out that the avatars are nice and that the army shouldn t (avoid contraction should not) be destroying their land, he starts to refuse orders from Kernell (the army leader). Kernell was demanding that he told him important things (be precise what are these important thing exactly?) about the avatars so it would be easier to destroy them, but jake could keep changing from an avatar to a human, so when he came back to the human life he would usually start to fill Kernell in on what happened but near the end he stopped telling him so he could save the avatars. He realised that the avatars were actually really nice and approving of him after a while. Where can you include the how? In other words, the cinematic technique, for instance full shots capture Jake interacting with The colonel or a close up shot reveals the moment Jake realises that the Na vi people need to be respected During the 2 hours and 42 minutes Jake faced a series of multiple tests, allies, and enemies.
