The Appalachian Trail Analysis
Bryson s main argument throughout the novel is that Americans yearn for the days of old,
represented through the Appalachian Trail, and one way he proves this is with his personal
encounters on the Appalachian Trail itself. For a trail as long and arduous as the Appalachian
Trail, it would be assumed that only serious and dedicated hikers would even consider hikingthe
trip. However, as Bryson demonstrates, this is not the case. Often times, ordinary American
citizens who may have never even hiked before decide to hike the trail. For this, it is not
necessary to look any further than the author and his partner Katz. Neither of them is
particularly fit and it Katz s case, well prepared mentally. Bryson even admits this when he states
that he ...was hopelessly out of shape... (Bryson 35) proving they were not avid hikers.
Throughout their hike, they also ran into a plethora of average citizens, and is one case they
...found a Boy Scout troop... (Bryson 147) that been hiking the woods. One day, after running
into a crowded shelter, Bryson noted that it was spring break at nearby colleges and ...scores of
young people all had the idea to come hiking... (Bryson 99). In all these cases, none of the people
hiking on the trail are actually athletic avid hikers, rather they are standard average citizens. Why
would average citizens decide to hike the Appalachian Trail? Bryson believes that the reason for
this is for people wanting to experience the beauty and simplicity of being

In-Depth Analysis Of A Serial Podcast
In CRJ102B, Criminology, with Terry Penney, we were required to listen to a podcast that follows
the crazy confusing story of a high school senior who was convicted of murdering his
exВgirlfriend. Serial, is a 12Вepisode investigative journalism podcast, that is told week by week,
and hosted by Sarah Koenig. The purpose of Serial, as put by Koenig is merely about the basics:
love and death and justice and truth . Initially, listening to Serial is extremely confusing and can be
hard for people to understand, especially if they do not have a basic understanding of the Criminal
Justicesystem. However, I think that being required to listen to Serial in this course is very
beneficial. I am going to be writing an in depth analysis of the Serial... Show more content on

You would think that a young teenage boy would crack under the pressure and maybe give a
false confession, but he did not. He was very composed and collected, which surprised me, but
then again I mean why worry about something if you know you didn t do it? Either way I found
it really cool that Adnan did that, and I also applaud him for being able to talk about it publicly
fifteen years later with a complete stranger. Overall, the podcast was very interesting, it kept
listeners interested and was very logical in the way everything was sorted out. However, the last
episode really threw me off. It basically concluded nothing, it essentially just recapped everything
that has already been discussed, which kind of sucks. Recently, Adnan had been granted a hearing
for a potential retrial, in which Koenig attended. Although I haven t had time yet, I m really looking
forward to listening to it. I sincerely hope that Adnan receives the justice he

Comparison of Behaviorism and the Humanistic Approach
It is said that humanistic psychology was developed upon the limitations of behaviourism. The
humanistic approach is often referred to as the third force in psychology coming after
psychoanalysis and behaviourism; it is an alternative approach to psychology (Maslow, 1968). It
offered a more wholesome approach to psychologyat the time in comparison to behaviourism and
psychoanalysis. This essay will compare and contrast behaviourism and humanistic psychology;
it will focus on their contributions to psychological theory and their applications in the real
world. Why don t we make what can be observed the real field of psychology (Watson, 1929).
Watson (1878 1958) was born into a poor family in South Carolina. His mother was a religious
woman, and his father drank a lot and had multiple affairs (Watson, 1999). Watson himself
married twice, having two children in each marriage. He didn t seem to have good relationships
with his children it is said that one of the main reasons for this may be because he used his
children throughout his research. He studied in the University of Chicago where he later became
known as the founder of Behaviourism. He wrote an essay in 1914 titled Psychology as the
Behaviourist views it where he stated that behaviourism is an objective experimental branch of
natural science (Watson, 1914). Behaviourism is a theory of learning that argues that all behaviours
are acquired through conditioning (Carver Scheier, 2012). Behaviourists believe

Korean War Essays
On 26 June, one day after 90,000 North Korean troops, armed with Soviet weapons, crossed the
38th parallel to invade South Korea, President Harry Truman directed U.S. military forces to assist
South Korea. This began the Korean War, which came at a time when America was becoming more
and more fearful of Communism. The fact that Communist China and the Soviet Union were
backing the North Koreans added to American fears of a quot;Communist Takeover quot; of the
world. Led by General Douglas MacArthur, American troopsspent three years fighting in Korea.

However, it was more importantly recognized as the first major conflict between the East and West,

The New Testament Of Jesus Christ The Savior
Starting in the years of Jesus Christ the savior, a parable is a widely used term in the Christian
religion. A parable is known as a story mainly used in the New Testament of Christianity. The
purpose of a parable is to portray some kind of moral meaning or to teach a lesson. This is
commonly done in the New Testament with a reading from one of the Apostles. These parables,
commonly found in the scriptures were usually told by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, four of
the apostles. The main focus was to illustrate a lesson of morals and values. A lot of these stories
told in the gospel are said to be simple, but create a visual image in the audience s head. Although
they may be simple to comprehend, the messages are very deep in meaning and are said to have
a spirituality to them. Even some of the shorter parables have been known to impact a person s
morality, but not as much extremity of the longer more in depth stories of the scriptures. One of
the most known parables, by Luke 10:25 67, is the reading of The Good Samaritan . It is very
deep and thoughtful in its meaning and can be seen as the top notch lesson in all of the scriptures.
It all started by a lawyer questioning Jesusto what he could do to be saved and earn salvation to the
holy land after death, being Heaven. Jesus being the figure he was, told the story known as The
Good Samaritan and what he would have to do. He started off by talking about a man who had

Handout 1: Questions for Triumph of the Will by Leni Riefenstahl (1934/35)
1. Why does this film begin with a view of the clouds from the cockpit of an airplane? What might
this image symbolize?
I believe that the film began with a view of the clouds from the cockpit probably because Hitler
was on the plane and it showed that he felt superior to everyone down below, or that he was finally
in the midst of completing what he wanted which was to have a perfect Germany under his reign.
2. What impression do you get of Germany from the aerial shots of the city of Nuremberg? What
general image does the director Leni Riefenstahl give of Germany as a country?
Most of Germany was extremely supportive of Hitler. I saw this toddler not ... Show more content

They all got along well together, and had each other s back. The film shows one soldier scrubbing
another soldiers back. Also there were a lot of chants and uniform sayings they repeated over and
over, especially when Hitler was there. They paid homage to the Nazi comrades that had died.
5. What pictures of youth and masculinity are portrayed in this film?
This film definitely contributes to the youth and masculinity. The youth was taught at a very
young age to salute Hitler the appropriate way. Like I stated earlier, there was a toddler who was
caught saluting Hitler. The young men who were becoming soldiers were now dedicating their
lives to their country. One young man said, We are the Reich s young men, so this shows that
they consciously acknowledged who they were and for what they were called to do. As for
masculinity, I believe that all men were sought to be equal because the film showed men serving
the soldiers, so they served each other and they had no problem doing so.
6. What aspects of this film fit into the documentary film genre, and what aspects appear more
purely propagandistic?
The most propagandistic part of the film was when different men were giving speeches when Von
Hindenburg died. They all had glittering and nice things to say about Germany and how the
people and their loyalty were making all of it happen. It was giving Germany a sense of pride

An Evaluation Of Cairns Taxis Limited
To enable the budgeting process to be effective, Cairns Taxis Limited will have to adopt some basic
principles. First, it needs to decide if it requires several budgets to accommodate each department
Administration, Call Centre, RAD Connect (Technical) and Fleet Services. We all know, there is
only a finite amount of resources in any organisation, so they need to be appropriately distributed
across departments for the greater good of the organisation. Department managers need to work
together in harmony and adopt an approach that is for the good of the whole company rather than
just their own department. Managerial performance of Cairns Taxis is reflected in the financial

Managers budget targets will differ from one manager to another, even in the same organisation,
and that is similar to how Cairns Taxis operates (Kihn 2011, pp 231) each section has its own
budget, however not all managers are aware of what is in them. The CEO manages the budget and
all financial matters and major purchases outside normal operating items are generally run past him
for approval. Each manager is aware that they have a budget, but not exactly sure as to what is in
them. This may sound unusual, but it works, it has a motivating factor for some of the department
heads as they effectively try and reduce cost where ever they can.
The budgeting process will commonly involve a series of steps, including:
1.consideration of past performance
2.assessment of the expected trading and operating conditions
3.preparation of initial budget estimates
4.adjustment to estimates based on communication with, and feedback from, managers
5.preparation of the budgeted reports and any sub budgets
6.monitoring of actual performance against the budget over the budget period
7.making any necessary adjustments to the budget during the budget period.(BIRT et al. 2014, pp

Spanish Colonialism on the History of Puerto Rican People...
Spanish Colonialism on the History of Puerto Rican People
Puerto Rico . The name immediately brings to mind images of a beautiful lush tropical island of
enchantment. The name Puerto Rico usually does not conjure the image of Taino Indians or
African slaves, yet these populations have great importance in laying the foundation for the notion
of identity of Puerto Ricans. In contemporary debates of Puerto Rican identity, it is essential to
examine the history of the island to determine the effects of Spanish colonialism on Puerto Rican
identity. As he demonstrates in his article Puerto Rico: the Four Storeyed Country , Jose L.
Gonzalez discusses the notion of identity as a series of storeys, one built upon another in order

17). The island s discovery did not lead to a quick occupation, though. Juan Ponce de Leon, in
search of gold, made the first effort to settle on the island in 1508. In the next twenty years, the
Taino population became decimated while forced to labor in prospecting gold, a phase that ended
in this time, succumbing to disease and a breakdown in their social network.
An important implication of this initial occupation of the island by Spaniards is the imposition of
the Spanish language. Because the Taino population could be counted in small amounts and
Spanish had established their presence on the island by instilling their language as the only
accepted language, in the name of Spain, a first storey was constructed in the notion of identity of
the Puerto Rican. The Tainos had been moved out and taken over, the Spanish had moved in and
started to let their culture infiltrate into that of the Taino, and now things were changing.
Because the gold rush on the island lost its surge, the Spanish turned its attention to the agricultural
success they could have with the island. However, as a result of their occupation, they lacked the
labor force to effectively move an agricultural economy. In order to replenish the population and
create a strong labor force, the Spanish took part in what others around Puerto Rico had begun to
do, import cheap labor, namely African slaves. As the profit grew from cash crops sugar emerging

The Problem of Digital and Online Piracy
Digital or online piracy is one of the biggest if not the biggest criminal cyber acts today. It has
been a major problem for nearly two decades. Sellers of digital products (ranging from music to
software) are actively fighting the availability of pirated copies of their products, but despite
more sophisticated copy protection, the problem is still out there (Sundararajan 2004). So what
exactly constitutes online piracy? It s important to have a working definition, especially when
the behavior of engaging in online piracy can involve legal penalty. Online piracy is actually a
pretty broad category and it brings in a number of different activities, however, definable
boundaries are sometimes unclear (Fisk 2009). Piracy is the act of copying and distributing
intellectual property without the consent of the rights holder. Therefore online piracy is an act
of piracy that uses computer networks as a tool for both copying and distributing (2009). Digital
piracy is the piracy of digital media content, which includes anything from illegally copying
software (even if it s out of date) to copying a video cassette tape it doesn t necessarily need a
computer network for distribution (2009). In basic terms, digital piracy is referring to the piracy of
a specific type of content (like music or movies) while online piracy is referring to a specific type
of distribution method (2009). So who are the types of people engaging in online and/or digital
piracy? There is not a simple way to

In accordance with the EMT Code of Ethics adopted by the National Association of Emergency
Medical Technicians, EMTs pledge to conserve life, alleviate suffering, promote health, do no
harm, and encourage the quality and equal availability of emergency medical care . Through the
medical education for an EMT license, a student learns how to appropriately treat and care for a
medical or traumatic emergency in order to be able to successfully follow this system. Students
are also taught the concepts on how to follow the moral and ethical components of the pledge.
However, actually being prepared to handle these kinds of dilemmas in real life scenarios is a
challenge EMT face no matter if they have been an EMS provider for months or years. These
demanding situations usually arise when there is a discrepancy between the EMT s personal moral
values of right and wrong and the ethical standards required professionally and socially. Major
challenges include circumstances involving resuscitation, triage, consent, and negligence. The three
major life breathing concerns for a patient is a disruption of the airway, breathing, and circulation.
When a patient goes into cardiac arrestdue to pre existing conditions or trauma, an EMT will
initiate the steps of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and hopefully using an available

St Francis Of Assisi Research Paper
The Mysticism of the Great Saint Francis of Assisi Saint Francis of Assisi (1181 1226) was a
Roman Catholic preacher, he spent most of his later life, influencing others on practicing
Catholicism and a leader of the movement of evangelical poverty. The Oxford University Press

adherence to the forms of Christian doctrine and practice which are generally regarded as Catholic

Germany was the last European nation to ban the insider...
Germany was the last European nation to ban the insider trading which were the consequences of
the EC directive and subsequent infringement action for failure of non compliance. Hence Germany
passed Promotion Act.
The scope of the insider trading prohibition under the Promotion Act is set forth in the Act s
definitions of three key concepts: (1) the insider, (2) insider information, and (3) insider
transactions.
The Insider according to German law classifies into two (1) Primary (2) Secondary. Primary is an

Section 12 of the German Insider Trading Law provides a fairly complex, and arguably
cumbersome, definition of insider securities, the insider trading prohibition basically extends to all
securities traded on an exchange or through a transaction otherwise covered by the Insider Trading

clarify that Derivatives to fall within the purview of the definition in order to stop circumvention of
the law.
Section 14 of the act defines the prohibition of insider dealing; the prohibition as said earlier
distinguishes into two primary and secondary. The object of this section is to prohibit the person
from utilizing, recommending and passing the vital information to the third party.
The German law specifies that the one of the method of preventing the insider trading are the
statutory publication requirement for the listed company. This comprises the ad hoc disclosure
requirement and the requirement to publish changes in major holdings of voting rights.
As far as punishment is concerned, if the person fails to comply with the regulation he would end

Domestic Violence Effects On Children Essay
Domestic violence affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men (NCADV, 2015). Although the devastating
effects that domestic violence has on women are well known, there is a population of domestic
violence victims that we tend to overlook. These are the children of the women and men who are
in domestic violence situations. Children are the invisible victims when it comes to domestic
violence. There are many statistics being thrown around when it comes to the number of children
who are exposed to domestic violence; they range from as little as 200,000 to even 3 18 million
(Sousa et. al., 2011). A 2001 study discovered that in 75% of the cases in their study, children were
present in the home during the assaults (Hutchison Hirschel, 2001). Until recently, there have been
limited studies focused on the effects of exposure to domestic violence on children. This paper will
review various literatures that identify the effects of domestic violence exposure on children. There
were many trends in the literatures that were studied but there were two common trends worth
mentioning. The first trend was the participants that were used in the studies. Many of the
literatures mention that previous studies mainly gathered information from women and children
who resided in battered women shelters. The second trend was the methods used for the studies.
Many of the studies used surveys and interviews where women and children self reported on their
experiences. There were many common conflicts in the

Most people embraced this notion, with the exception of a few. Johann Sebastian Bach was one of
these few people. Bach, although the greatest composer of the Baroque period, led a life based on
tradition and past influence, which left him virtually ignored for many years after his death.
Bach was born in 1685 in Germany amongst the turmoil of national reconstruction. He lived a quiet
life with little musical influence, until the death of his parents at age ten. After their death, Bach s

Bach also never published any of his music because he thought it was less than perfect. He wrote
music for his enjoyment and self fulfillment. He never attempted to make himself known through
his musical works (Herz 1).
Bach s peers did not understand his desire to preserve the past; therefore, they did not embrace
his musical genius. His musical peers used the new dynamic and elaborate idea of art expression
in their works. They experimented with new styles and forms in their works. Bach s perfection in
his music was ignored because no one understood it. Bach, unlike his peers, chose to remain with
traditional sounds from the past when he composed music. Because of his modesty and the lack of
interest from the people around him, Bach s creative works existed without influencing the world
around him for many years (Herz 2).
The only place that appreciated his works was the Lutheran church. Bach s chorales and cantatas
held great admiration in the religious world. A devout Lutheran, Bach remained true to the past
musical heritage of his church. For him, the old Lutheran ways were perfect and sacred. This notion
comes through in his perfectly arranged church music. The harmonies and melodies are exact
matches. There is little room for improvement in Bach s church compositions.
Although Bach dearly loved the

Compare Hinduism And Hinduism
Buddhism and Hinduism are two popular religions that were found in India. It is commonly
thought that Buddhism and Hinduism are very similar religions, some may even think they are
the same. This thought comes up for many reasons including their spiritual practices, place of
origin, and the problem they believe life has. To many, it would be a surprise to learn how
different these two religions truly are from one another regardless of how much they resemble
each other. Hindus tend to see the world in a you get what you give type of way. They believe
that every action one makes will affect their future in one way or another. Samsara is the
continuous cycle of life, death, and reincarnation. If one acts good, they will in turn get good
karma, leading to a better next life. If one behaves badly on the other hand, they will obtain bad
karma which will lead to suffering in the next incarnation. Hindus believe a person can be born
in different varieties, in each variety ones soul or atman is kept but the body in which they are in
can change. The atman can form into a human or any other living creature mainly depending on
its karma. Each variety is another chance for their atman to attain good karma. Hindus also
believe in the caste system, each caste has its own duties, or dharma . One must fulfill these duties
and maintain good karma in order to work their way up the caste. The higher up in the caste system
they are the better quality of life a person has. A legend has

The Big Time College Sports
In this era of big time college sports, it seems the main focus of Division I athletics evolves
around the money that schools and conferences make through different deals. These deals
typically involve television rights for individual conferences with major television networks.
Currently the NCAA has a 14 year, $11 billion TV deal with CBS and Turner Broadcasting for
the NCAA basketball Tournament, and this upcoming year ESPN will pay around $470 million to
broadcast the new college football playoffs. The majority of this money is streamed to a teams
athletic departments via their respective conference. The largest percentage of this money goes to
teams that perform well on the field and on the court. Therefore the size of a school s... Show more

SEC at $205 million (the SEC Network that launched this past August should eventually launch the

individually conference. The first and most profitable one is the Big Ten.
Big Ten
The Big Ten is known as the conference where the money is. Year in and year out the Big Ten
has the highest revenues. This can be credited to the prospering Big Ten Network. The Big Ten
the first major conference with their own network, most major conferences have now established
a conference affiliated network. The conference s revenues are expected to grow annually, and 12
of 14 Big Ten schools are expected to gain $44.5 million during the 2017 18 year, the first year of a
new television deal (the two schools that are not projecting these numbers are Maryland and
Rutgers which just officially joined the conference this past summer and can not receive their
full share until 2020 21). Along with their Big Ten network deal, the conference also has a 10
year TV rights deal with ESPN worth close to $1 billion that will be expiring in 2016 2017. While
negotiations have begun to renew this contract, it is likely that Fox will become a

Gender Relations During The Iranian Revolution
The subject of gender relations in Iran has been a contentious social issue and has become more
controversial since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Mainstream news outlets such as CNN and
BBC have reported that the Islamization that followed the Islamic Republic has led to a reversal of
women s rights in Iran(Nia 2010; BBC 2009). The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have,
however, facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context
of the country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict
many women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided
avenues of empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution
mobilized the women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a
conservative Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which
gave rise to a newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of
women through Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s
movement in Iran. Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding
should be approached as a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral
selves, the manipulation of populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate
knowledges (Asad 1986: 7). The development of such a

Stereotypes Of Women In Video Games
Throughout the years, society has become more accepting of diverse topics and ideas. As society
continues to evolve, numerous entertainments have turned to displaying a greater amount of
minority groups. Although movies and television shows are rapidly progressing towards this trend,
video games seem to be cautiously starting to accept these ideas. Most of the advertising in video
games are promoted towards the male population. Despite the fact men have previously been the
dominant demographic in this type of entertainment, women have increasingly become a major part
of the video gameaudience. In creating video games in which portray the opposite genderin a
realistic way is beneficial to not only the female players but also to the male. It is important to
promote the creation of gender appropriate video games due to it decreasing the amount of
sexualization and violence against women which assists in women s self confidence and men s
treatment towards women.

Answer 1.
As described in the question store summarized this data into single score by multiplying the number
of responses by number assigned. With this procedure, they got mean value of 3.19. Which lies
between the 3 unsure and 4 agree.
With which store manager will conclude that response is mild agreement or small unsure.
This is not correct interpretation of data. As this argument relies on assumption that psychological
distance between agreement and strong agreement is same as in agreement and unsure. Which is
not correct as the responses can also be distorted on psychological attitudes. To put it in simple
terms Ordinal data cannot possess a mean value.

a). Gender Requires one of two responses male or female
From this question, we will get Nominal data. Because it has two possible values male or female.
We can count no. of males and females but both doesn t have their actual values neither we can
compare them to each other i.e. we can t say that male has higher value than female. But we can
say no. of males are less than or greater than no. of females.
b. Fahrenheit thermometers
Collects values representing temperatures in Fahrenheit
Collected values representing temperatures in Fahrenheit(F) is an Interval Data. As in the terms of
temperature there is fixed interval. As difference between 1F and 3F is same as in 22F and 24F.
However, we cannot say that 5F is half than 10F because there is no absolute zero in temperature.
Temperature can increase to infinity as well as decrease to infinity in Fahrenheit.
c. Kelvin thermometers Collects values representing temperatures in Kelvin
Collected values representing temperature in kelvin(k) is a Ratio Data. Because in terms of
kelvin temperature there is fixed intervals and as well as absolute zero. As there is absolute zero
in kelvin temperature we can say that 5 degrees is half hot as compared to 10 degrees.
d. The number of items a customer buys

It is also a ratio Data because there can be a customer buying no item. So, there can be an absolute
zero. Moreover, we can also say that 5 items are half of 10

Psychodynamic And Object Relations Theories
Amongst all psychodynamic approaches, object relations theory fitted like a puzzle for me. I
have an integrated style with a mix of some humanistic and psychodynamic approaches like Freud
s free association or Jung s dream analysis but Object Relations stand out for me. I relate to it at a
deep personal level where my poor relationship with my motheraffected my married life and in my
client work a common thread that ran through was how faulty infantile object relations have an
impact on adult relationships. Object relations theory follows a model that believes that children
are driven by the need for attachment with primary caregivers especially the mother and it is
paramount for the development of a free functioning psychic structure.

Once that was mostly established, many, like Pierre Abelard went on to think about how or why
people sin. Do people sin by choice or are people completely helpless when it comes to resisting
temptation. Abelard thought believed that sin is subjective. Sin is inside us all and, and although
we choose to give into sinful desires, it is through divine grace that we seek out the love of Jesus.
It is not the sin itself but the intention in the heart of the person committing an act that could be
considered sin under certain circumstances. If a person kills another person, it is not the act of
killing that is a sin but the intent behind the killing. If the killing was an accident or self defense it
is different from maliciously committing murder, or intending to kill another person.
St. Francis of Assisi would say that sin is objective: the act of sin without knowingly or
deliberately committing the sin. Intention has no part in whether or not an act is considered. Sin is
sin regardless of intent. With the legacy of St. Francis ministry, the order called The friars , it
seems that St. Francis was more concerned with good works as a means of salvation. However,
works would mean nothing if there was not good intent behind them.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer believes we are not judged by our works, but are saved by grace. A person
must first be called to a life of Christ. This call is His grace. Reject the call

Examples Of Honey Baby Sweetheart
Deb Caletti said in, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart I was like a chocolate in a box, looking well
behaved and perfect in place, all the while harboring a secret center. Facades are used in
everyday life all around you, but you never notice them. A prime example is my best friend. She
acts rambunctious and like her friends when she is around them. She basically abandons the way
she was raised to fit in and be popular. When she gets around her family she is the angel they
raised. Facades are the worst lies because they can be very easily shattered, are destructive, and can
wrongfully take an opportunity from another.
Like glass, facades can be very easily broken with even the smallest of fractures. An example of a
small fracture can be changing the way you speak or the way you dress. People pick up on the
smallest differences even the slightest things. After that small fracture come the shatter. Which
brings on an abundance more to deal with and clean up. After the shatter comes the hurt of others.
Facades are easily believed therefore when people see it was a lie they feel betrayed. Now that the
façade is shattered along with the trust of betrayed the mess is left to be cleaned up. As an
example of trying to clean up the mess author Stephanie Ericsson says in the essay The Ways We
Lie ...I saw less than a hundred bucks. ...I confronted him, he raised both eyebrows and tried to

OXYGEN DEMAND (BOD)*#(1) 5220 CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (COD)*#(2) 5220 A.
Introduction Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is defined as the amount of a specified oxidant that
reacts with the sample under controlled conditions. The quantity of oxidant consumed is expressed
in terms of its oxygen equivalence. Because of its unique chemical properties, the dichromate ion
(Cr2O72 ) is the specified oxidant in Methods Section 5220B, Section 5220C, and Section 5220D;
it is reduced to the chromic ion (Cr3+) in these tests. Both organic and inorganic components of a

Do not use the test for samples containing more than 2000 mg Cl /L. Techniques designed to
measure COD in saline waters are available.1,2 Halide interferences may be removed by
precipitation with silver ion and filtration before digestion. This approach may introduce
substantial errors due to the occlusion and carrydown of COD matter from heterogenous samples.
Ammonia and its derivatives, in the waste or generated from nitrogen containing organic matter,
are not oxidized. However, elemental chlorine reacts with these compounds. Hence, corrections
for chloride interferences are difficult. Nitrite (NO2 ) exerts a COD of 1.1 mg O2/mg NO2 N.
Because concentrations of NO2 in waters rarely exceed 1 or 2 mg NO2 N/L, the interference is
considered insignificant and usually is ignored. To eliminate a significant interference due to NO2 ,
add 10 mg sulfamic acid for each mg NO2 N present in the sample volume used; add the same
amount of sulfamic acid to the reflux vessel containing the distilled water blank. Reduced inorganic
species such as ferrous iron, sulfide, manganous manganese, etc., are oxidized quantitatively under
the test conditions. For samples containing significant levels of these species, stoichiometric
oxidation can be assumed from known initial concentration of the interfering species and

The NBA Is A Dream In The NBA
For most young players, playing in the NBA is a dream. For a lot of people, they only see and

throughout the years just to get to the NBA. For the lucky few making it to the NBA is the easy
part, maintaining their longevity in the leagueis the hard part. Which is why all the great players

of making it first as a rotation player, then as one of the league main attractions. For some young
players, the NBA lifestyle is too much to handle while others come out of college prepared to

movements, as well as people and their legacies, have been explored. The Save the Music
Foundation was started so that music educationwould eventually be available for all kids in the
United States.
For many children around the world, music programs in school are not available to them. Music
education is often considered an after school activity because of a lack of time and budget cuts.
For kids everywhere, having music class once a week is more common than at least 3 music
classes per week, which is recommended by the National Association for Music Education (Rajan).

Benefits And Benefits Of Pay And Reward Strategies
Several pay and reward strategies can be adopted by organisations. However, each of the
strategies involves issues that must be considered as it could affect the employees and the
organisation. Therefore, it is vital that each organisation implement and develop certain pay and
reward strategies, which are aligned with its own business strategies. This will ensure that
perspectives of employees, employers and the costs are all considered in the course of the
application of each strategy. The aim of this essay is to explain and evaluate the main pay and
reward strategies adopted by organisations as well as the benefits and disadvantages of each.
Graded pay, broad banding graded pay, labour market related pay, performance related pay and total
reward which includes financial and non financial rewards will all be explained in detail and
evaluated as well as the benefits and drawbacks of each.
Gilmore and Williams (2013) suggest that one of the most important Human Resource Management
activities in any organisation is reward management such as pays and benefits as well as non
financial rewards which is also referred to as intrinsic rewards since this can have a strong impact
on recruiting new people and retaining existing employees. In addition to this, Bartol and Locke
(2000) and Caruth and Hand logten (2001) explains that financial rewards satisfy employees basic
needs for survival such as security and recognition at work and intrinsic rewards are the
psychological enjoyment

Feminism And Postcolonialism In The Color Purple By Alice...
The paper explores the idea that gender is culturally and socially constructed, a thought that there is
clear evidence of in the novel. Much has been said about Alice Walker s epistolary novel, The Color
Purple, and its feminist dimension; nevertheless, this characteristic represents only the tip of the
iceberg, the eye striking feature, as this book is also a representative example of postcolonial
literature. By illustrating Afro American life both of the colonized and of the colonizers, the
narrative becomes the literature of otherness and resistance, built up around a triple oppression
(cultural, racial and sexual) and around the inner evolution of culture.. There has been much
arguing among postcolonial scholars regarding the structure... Show more content on

Furthermore, his declarations about the importance of beating an obedient wife who does not see
her husband as an authority can be seen as a way of using threatening or frightening practises
with the purpose to maintain the patriarchal system. In one of her letters to her sister Nettie, Celie
describes the difficulties with the male sovereignty with these words: Well, you know wherever
there s a man, there s trouble (Walker 186). Certainly, it illuminates well her experience of
patriarchal oppression and subordination. Celie opposes her husband s critical views about her

How Is Bob Marley Successful
Bob Marley is somebody that considered life a reality to be experienced. This is because he
started a movement instead of considering it a problem He was a jamaican musician and became
an important political figure (Timothy Thomas). This shows that he considered life a reality to be
experienced because he succeeded in becoming a political figure. He didn t consider his life to be
a problem to be solved and fulfilled a lot during his lifetime. He started the Rastafari movement
which made him viewed as a large political figure in jamaican and reggaeculture . This shows the
quote because he wanted to change reggae culture and didn t consider it a problem to be solved.

Chasen Davis is somebody who considers life a reality to be experienced. He tries to make the

A reason why this quote is important for young adults to live by is for one if you consider
everything a problem to be solved you won t be able to live life to its fullest. Another reason is if
you let a problem hold you back you would not learn from that experience. The third reason is that

Confidentiality In A Therapeutic Relationship
Confidentiality in a therapeutic relationship can be defined as any communication, diagnosis, or
treatment between a patient and a mental health professional. Confidentiality and trust are critical
components of a good therapeutic relationship therefore, it is imperative that mental health
professionals thoroughly explain the meaning of confidentiality and disclosure clauses to their
potential clients.
Mental health professionals are often faced with the decision of having to breach confidentiality.
Unfortunately, they sometimes struggle making this decision because they know breaking
confidentiality can be detrimental to a therapeutic relationship. In addition, it may come with
ethical and legal ramifications. Therefore it is highly recommended that mental professionals seek
consultation or legal advice before disclosing clients information.
According to Texas State and Health Code, В§611.002, a mental health professionalmental health
professional must break confidentiality and disclosure when a client is believed to be a danger to
themselves or someone else, if child abuse or neglect is suspected the mental health professional
must report within 48 hours of first suspicion. According to the Texas Family Code, abuse is
defined very broadly in order to include the following; mental, emotional, sexual, physical, failure to
provide adequate shelter, food, or necessities.

Compare And Contrast Heydrich And Ernest Shackleton
(STATE THESIS) When it comes to the leading their respective teams, Ernest Shackleton and
Reinhard Heydrich s approaches to leadership could not be more contradictory. This is not to say
that their differences make either of them a good or misleader. Each individual demonstrated
qualities that would classify him in either category. However, it is ultimately the intentions of the
leader and the presence of or complete disregard for humanity that categorizes each man where he
falls.
Holistically, in order to determine what makes an individual an effective leader or a misleader, one
must first understand the aspects of leadership. While it is impossible to condense what makes a
leader into a short list of qualities and ideas, for the intent of this paper, the comparative aspects of
leadership will be limited to: character, skills/talent, and results.
To begin, character can be understood as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.
Warren Buffet was quoted saying, there are three main qualities involved in leadership: integrity,
intelligence, and energy; without the first, the other two will kill you, (Warren Buffet). In reference
to Ernest Shackleton, the mariner was known by his crew to be optimistic, generous, and fair. At
the beginning of their expedition, however, these qualities were subdued by Shackleton s hubris. It
should be noted that, no mariner distinguished themselves on a smooth sea, (The Endurance
Movie). With that in mind, it was not

Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization
Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to
operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many
countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their
countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately
35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United Stateswere actually manufactured in China,
compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the
globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international
economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy
among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First
of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer,
the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade,
people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour
are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if
they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies
which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and
Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services,
globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences
the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not
popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market
research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people
because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have
the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of
world trade. Some countries do not have the ability to create certain goods domestically, such as
mangoes, avocados, bananas, papayas, etc.

The Contribution of Patanjali s Yoga Suta
The Contribution of Patanjali s Yoga Suta
When we speak of Yoga the first thing in mind is the posture, the breaths, the exercise. Yoga is
commonly associated with flexibility and its complex postures. It is also associated with breathing
excercises and meditation. But this is not always the case. There is more to Yogathan just the
exercise. For those who studied Indian Philosophy, Hinduism or Indian culture and history, Yoga is
not just all those things; it is something more. So what is Yoga to begin with? The word yoga
literally means union . Union in the sense of spiritual union of the individual soul with the
Universal Soul. Yoga is a Hindu theistic philosophy teaching the suppression of all activity of body,

This is abstention from avarice. Aparigraha is neutralizing the desire to acquire and hoard wealth.
This does not only apply on money but also to everything, material and immaterial things.
Aparigraha also means to take only what is necessary, and not to take advantage of a situation or
act greedy.
Following the Yama is Niyama. Unlike Yama, Niyama is the inner discipline and responsibilities.
Niyama is considered as the duties to the self; culturing oneself. Like yama, there are also five
Niyamas. The first of these Niyamas is shauca or purity. Purity or cleanliness is to be observed
both in the outer (physical) and inner (spiritual) aspects. In the outer and physical aspect, one has to
take care of his/her body and environment. Purity of the body entails one to take proper care of one
s health and condition. Eating healthy foods and not abusing the body are examples of proper care
for the body. A clean surrounding also contributes to the purity of the body. The other aspect is the
inner and spiritual aspect. Shauca in this aspect requires one to acquire pure thoughts and words.
Next is santosha or contentment. This means the acceptance of things as they are. Throughout life s
troubles, one should find happiness and contentment. This brings peace in one s life. And so, one
needs to understand that he/she cannot have the best of both worlds. One should be happy with
what he/she has, rather than being unhappy about what he/she

Truth Or Falsehood In Ambush By Tim O Brien
Truth or falsehood. That is a common question to everyone, especially parents. In the situation of
Ambush by Tim O Brien, a returning veteran from the Vietnam War is asked if he has ever killed
anyone before by his nine year old daughter. It was a difficult moment, but I did what seemed
right, which was to say, Of course not, ... Mr. O Brien did what he believed was the right thing.
He told a lie to his daughter to spare her the troubles of war and knowing that her father is a killer.
That is not the only reason he spared his daughter from the truththough. He also lied to save himself
from the memory of the incident, which are nightmarish memories to him. Sometimes a parent
must lie to save their children from the horrible truth.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the strong points of that argument is that everyone deserves to know the truth, even
children. I say that the truth is important yes, but it can also cause more harm than good. For
example, if your grandmother bakes a chocolate pie and tells you to eat it, but it is the worst pie
you have ever eaten in your life, it would be simpler to tell her that is was good rather than tell
her the truth and hurt her feelings. No good can come from hurting someone s feelings. The truth
will often cause that. Another point that some people use for this argument is that if his daughter
found out the truth, she would view her father as a liar. If that was the case, every child of this
planet would view their parents that way. Children grow up learning about the Easter Bunny, Santa
Clause, the Tooth Fairy, and several other magical beings that do not exist. The sole purpose of
those tall tales is the give the children entertainment and something to look forward to. Parents lie
to their children every year, every time their child loses a tooth. So what is the difference about
lying to keep them safe from the

Tissue Engineering Scholarship Essay
It is nearly impossible for me to grasp the idea of what being truly disabled is like. There are far
too many people around the world living day by day, with major struggles to accomplish the basic
tasks of life because of their affliction. Through volunteering this past summer at Hartford
Hospital, serving meals to destitute people at the South Park Inn Homeless Shelter and meeting
disabled veterans at a Rangers Lead the Way fundraiser, I have seen first hand, some of the
problems and challenges of people with disability. Through these experiences and the insight
gained from them, I believe that I am on a quest to enable the disabled around the world. As a

My Day At School At The Vietnam Of Vietnam
Be Prepared Have you ever lived alone in a strange place, especially in a big city? I did! And it
was my most horrible experience in my life. It happened when I left my hometown for
continuing a higher education in Ho Chi Minh, a major city in the south of Vietnam. That was
my first time I lived far away from my family. I felt very excited and a little bit nervous because I
didn t know either anybody or the roads. I had the first day at school on the next day but there
were so numerous interesting things that were attractive me. Particularly, I decided to walk
around my new neighborhood and discovered unfamiliar things here. This city was a bustling
zone. I saw hundreds of stores around. There was not a lack of anything, from the chic
restaurants to affordable shops, and this fancy neighborhood became more special at night. I
came back home late at 9 pm after eating and walking a lot. Before going to sleep, I realized that
I had not known any information about my new school such as its address, time and how I could
get there. Because of tired, I tried to check the schedule and address hastily. I started searching for
the direction on my phone and believed that I could remember everything without writing them
down. I went to sleep with all my confidence. Consequently, that negligent attitude brought me to
big trouble. That important day had come finally. I got up really early because I knew I need to be
there at eight o clock. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair and

  • 2. The Appalachian Trail Analysis Bryson s main argument throughout the novel is that Americans yearn for the days of old, represented through the Appalachian Trail, and one way he proves this is with his personal encounters on the Appalachian Trail itself. For a trail as long and arduous as the Appalachian Trail, it would be assumed that only serious and dedicated hikers would even consider hikingthe trip. However, as Bryson demonstrates, this is not the case. Often times, ordinary American citizens who may have never even hiked before decide to hike the trail. For this, it is not necessary to look any further than the author and his partner Katz. Neither of them is particularly fit and it Katz s case, well prepared mentally. Bryson even admits this when he states that he ...was hopelessly out of shape... (Bryson 35) proving they were not avid hikers. Throughout their hike, they also ran into a plethora of average citizens, and is one case they ...found a Boy Scout troop... (Bryson 147) that been hiking the woods. One day, after running into a crowded shelter, Bryson noted that it was spring break at nearby colleges and ...scores of young people all had the idea to come hiking... (Bryson 99). In all these cases, none of the people hiking on the trail are actually athletic avid hikers, rather they are standard average citizens. Why would average citizens decide to hike the Appalachian Trail? Bryson believes that the reason for this is for people wanting to experience the beauty and simplicity of being ... • 3. In-Depth Analysis Of A Serial Podcast In CRJ102B, Criminology, with Terry Penney, we were required to listen to a podcast that follows the crazy confusing story of a high school senior who was convicted of murdering his exВgirlfriend. Serial, is a 12Вepisode investigative journalism podcast, that is told week by week, and hosted by Sarah Koenig. The purpose of Serial, as put by Koenig is merely about the basics: love and death and justice and truth . Initially, listening to Serial is extremely confusing and can be hard for people to understand, especially if they do not have a basic understanding of the Criminal Justicesystem. However, I think that being required to listen to Serial in this course is very beneficial. I am going to be writing an in depth analysis of the Serial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You would think that a young teenage boy would crack under the pressure and maybe give a false confession, but he did not. He was very composed and collected, which surprised me, but then again I mean why worry about something if you know you didn t do it? Either way I found it really cool that Adnan did that, and I also applaud him for being able to talk about it publicly fifteen years later with a complete stranger. Overall, the podcast was very interesting, it kept listeners interested and was very logical in the way everything was sorted out. However, the last episode really threw me off. It basically concluded nothing, it essentially just recapped everything that has already been discussed, which kind of sucks. Recently, Adnan had been granted a hearing for a potential retrial, in which Koenig attended. Although I haven t had time yet, I m really looking forward to listening to it. • 4. Comparison of Behaviorism and the Humanistic Approach It is said that humanistic psychology was developed upon the limitations of behaviourism. The humanistic approach is often referred to as the third force in psychology coming after psychoanalysis and behaviourism; it is an alternative approach to psychology (Maslow, 1968). It offered a more wholesome approach to psychologyat the time in comparison to behaviourism and psychoanalysis. This essay will compare and contrast behaviourism and humanistic psychology; it will focus on their contributions to psychological theory and their applications in the real world. Why don t we make what can be observed the real field of psychology (Watson, 1929). Watson (1878 1958) was born into a poor family in South Carolina. His mother was a religious woman, and his father drank a lot and had multiple affairs (Watson, 1999). Watson himself married twice, having two children in each marriage. He didn t seem to have good relationships with his children it is said that one of the main reasons for this may be because he used his children throughout his research. He studied in the University of Chicago where he later became known as the founder of Behaviourism. He wrote an essay in 1914 titled Psychology as the Behaviourist views it where he stated that behaviourism is an objective experimental branch of natural science (Watson, 1914). Behaviourism is a theory of learning that argues that all behaviours are acquired through conditioning (Carver Scheier, 2012). Behaviourists believe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Korean War Essays On 26 June, one day after 90,000 North Korean troops, armed with Soviet weapons, crossed the 38th parallel to invade South Korea, President Harry Truman directed U.S. military forces to assist South Korea. This began the Korean War, which came at a time when America was becoming more and more fearful of Communism. The fact that Communist China and the Soviet Union were backing the North Koreans added to American fears of a quot;Communist Takeover quot; of the world. Led by General Douglas MacArthur, American troopsspent three years fighting in Korea. However, it was more importantly recognized as the first major conflict between the East and West, and an important milestone in the initial years of the Cold War. But this war had a most devastating toll. The Korean Warwas one of the bloodiest wars in history. Over a million South Korean civilians were killed and several million were made homeless. • 6. The New Testament Of Jesus Christ The Savior Starting in the years of Jesus Christ the savior, a parable is a widely used term in the Christian religion. A parable is known as a story mainly used in the New Testament of Christianity. The purpose of a parable is to portray some kind of moral meaning or to teach a lesson. This is commonly done in the New Testament with a reading from one of the Apostles. These parables, commonly found in the scriptures were usually told by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, four of the apostles. The main focus was to illustrate a lesson of morals and values. A lot of these stories told in the gospel are said to be simple, but create a visual image in the audience s head. Although they may be simple to comprehend, the messages are very deep in meaning and are said to have a spirituality to them. Even some of the shorter parables have been known to impact a person s morality, but not as much extremity of the longer more in depth stories of the scriptures. One of the most known parables, by Luke 10:25 67, is the reading of The Good Samaritan . It is very deep and thoughtful in its meaning and can be seen as the top notch lesson in all of the scriptures. It all started by a lawyer questioning Jesusto what he could do to be saved and earn salvation to the holy land after death, being Heaven. Jesus being the figure he was, told the story known as The Good Samaritan and what he would have to do. What might this image symbolize? I believe that the film began with a view of the clouds from the cockpit probably because Hitler was on the plane and it showed that he felt superior to everyone down below, or that he was finally in the midst of completing what he wanted which was to have a perfect Germany under his reign. 2. They paid homage to the Nazi comrades that had died. 5. What pictures of youth and masculinity are portrayed in this film? This film definitely contributes to the youth and masculinity. The youth was taught at a very young age to salute Hitler the appropriate way. Like I stated earlier, there was a toddler who was caught saluting Hitler. The young men who were becoming soldiers were now dedicating their lives to their country. One young man said, We are the Reich s young men, so this shows that they consciously acknowledged who they were and for what they were called to do. As for masculinity, I believe that all men were sought to be equal because the film showed men serving the soldiers, so they served each other and they had no problem doing so. 6. What aspects of this film fit into the documentary film genre, and what aspects appear more purely propagandistic? The most propagandistic part of the film was when different men were giving speeches when Von Hindenburg died. They all had glittering and nice things to say about Germany and how the people and their loyalty were making all of it happen. It was giving Germany a sense of pride ... First, it needs to decide if it requires several budgets to accommodate each department Administration, Call Centre, RAD Connect (Technical) and Fleet Services. We all know, there is only a finite amount of resources in any organisation, so they need to be appropriately distributed across departments for the greater good of the organisation. Managers budget targets will differ from one manager to another, even in the same organisation, and that is similar to how Cairns Taxis operates (Kihn 2011, pp 231) each section has its own budget, however not all managers are aware of what is in them. The CEO manages the budget and all financial matters and major purchases outside normal operating items are generally run past him for approval. Each manager is aware that they have a budget, but not exactly sure as to what is in them. This may sound unusual, but it works, it has a motivating factor for some of the department heads as they effectively try and reduce cost where ever they can. The budgeting process will commonly involve a series of steps, including: 1.consideration of past performance 2.assessment of the expected trading and operating conditions 3.preparation of initial budget estimates 4.adjustment to estimates based on communication with, and feedback from, managers 5.preparation of the budgeted reports and any sub budgets 6.monitoring of actual performance against the budget over the budget period 7.making any necessary adjustments to the budget during the budget period.(BIRT et al. 2014, pp 407) A service business like Cairns Taxis Limited normally has no inventory to sell, and therefore the income statement under most Cost allocation methods will be the same, but the product unit costs will be different. The name immediately brings to mind images of a beautiful lush tropical island of enchantment. The name Puerto Rico usually does not conjure the image of Taino Indians or African slaves, yet these populations have great importance in laying the foundation for the notion of identity of Puerto Ricans. In contemporary debates of Puerto Rican identity, it is essential to examine the history of the island to determine the effects of Spanish colonialism on Puerto Rican identity. As he demonstrates in his article Puerto Rico: the Four Storeyed Country , Jose L. Gonzalez discusses the notion of identity as a series of storeys, one built upon another in order further ... Juan Ponce de Leon, in search of gold, made the first effort to settle on the island in 1508. In the next twenty years, the Taino population became decimated while forced to labor in prospecting gold, a phase that ended in this time, succumbing to disease and a breakdown in their social network. An important implication of this initial occupation of the island by Spaniards is the imposition of the Spanish language. Because the Taino population could be counted in small amounts and Spanish had established their presence on the island by instilling their language as the only accepted language, in the name of Spain, a first storey was constructed in the notion of identity of the Puerto Rican. The Tainos had been moved out and taken over, the Spanish had moved in and started to let their culture infiltrate into that of the Taino, and now things were changing. Because the gold rush on the island lost its surge, the Spanish turned its attention to the agricultural success they could have with the island. However, as a result of their occupation, they lacked the labor force to effectively move an agricultural economy. In order to replenish the population and create a strong labor force, the Spanish took part in what others around Puerto Rico had begun to do, import cheap labor, namely African slaves. • 11. The Problem of Digital and Online Piracy Digital or online piracy is one of the biggest if not the biggest criminal cyber acts today. It has been a major problem for nearly two decades. Sellers of digital products (ranging from music to software) are actively fighting the availability of pirated copies of their products, but despite more sophisticated copy protection, the problem is still out there (Sundararajan 2004). So what exactly constitutes online piracy? It s important to have a working definition, especially when the behavior of engaging in online piracy can involve legal penalty. Online piracy is actually a pretty broad category and it brings in a number of different activities, however, definable boundaries are sometimes unclear (Fisk 2009). Piracy is the act of copying and distributing intellectual property without the consent of the rights holder. Therefore online piracy is an act of piracy that uses computer networks as a tool for both copying and distributing (2009). Digital piracy is the piracy of digital media content, which includes anything from illegally copying software (even if it s out of date) to copying a video cassette tape it doesn t necessarily need a computer network for distribution (2009). In basic terms, digital piracy is referring to the piracy of a specific type of content (like music or movies) while online piracy is referring to a specific type of distribution method (2009). So who are the types of people engaging in online and/or digital piracy? There is not a simple way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In accordance with the EMT Code of Ethics adopted by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, EMTs pledge to conserve life, alleviate suffering, promote health, do no harm, and encourage the quality and equal availability of emergency medical care . Through the medical education for an EMT license, a student learns how to appropriately treat and care for a medical or traumatic emergency in order to be able to successfully follow this system. Students are also taught the concepts on how to follow the moral and ethical components of the pledge. However, actually being prepared to handle these kinds of dilemmas in real life scenarios is a challenge EMT face no matter if they have been an EMS provider for months or years. These demanding situations usually arise when there is a discrepancy between the EMT s personal moral values of right and wrong and the ethical standards required professionally and socially. Major challenges include circumstances involving resuscitation, triage, consent, and negligence. The three major life breathing concerns for a patient is a disruption of the airway, breathing, and circulation. When a patient goes into cardiac arrestdue to pre existing conditions or trauma, an EMT will initiate the steps of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and hopefully using an available automated external defibrillator (AED). Although the devastating effects that domestic violence has on women are well known, there is a population of domestic violence victims that we tend to overlook. These are the children of the women and men who are in domestic violence situations. Children are the invisible victims when it comes to domestic violence. There are many statistics being thrown around when it comes to the number of children who are exposed to domestic violence; they range from as little as 200,000 to even 3 18 million (Sousa et. al., 2011). A 2001 study discovered that in 75% of the cases in their study, children were present in the home during the assaults (Hutchison Hirschel, 2001). Until recently, there have been limited studies focused on the effects of exposure to domestic violence on children. This paper will review various literatures that identify the effects of domestic violence exposure on children. There were many trends in the literatures that were studied but there were two common trends worth mentioning. The first trend was the participants that were used in the studies. Many of the literatures mention that previous studies mainly gathered information from women and children who resided in battered women shelters. Great thinkers and masterminds left behind the idea that the world was either god influenced or science influenced. Most people embraced this notion, with the exception of a few. Bach, although the greatest composer of the Baroque period, led a life based on tradition and past influence, which left him virtually ignored for many years after his death. His musical peers used the new dynamic and elaborate idea of art expression in their works. They experimented with new styles and forms in their works. • 25. Gender Relations During The Iranian Revolution The subject of gender relations in Iran has been a contentious social issue and has become more controversial since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Mainstream news outlets such as CNN and BBC have reported that the Islamization that followed the Islamic Republic has led to a reversal of women s rights in Iran(Nia 2010; BBC 2009). The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have, however, facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context of the country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict many women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided avenues of empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution mobilized the women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a conservative Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which gave rise to a newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of women through Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s movement in Iran. Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding should be approached as a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral selves, the manipulation of populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate knowledges (Asad 1986: 7). Once that was mostly established, many, like Pierre Abelard went on to think about how or why people sin. Do people sin by choice or are people completely helpless when it comes to resisting temptation. Abelard thought believed that sin is subjective. Sin is inside us all and, and although we choose to give into sinful desires, it is through divine grace that we seek out the love of Jesus. It is not the sin itself but the intention in the heart of the person committing an act that could be considered sin under certain circumstances. If a person kills another person, it is not the act of killing that is a sin but the intent behind the killing. If the killing was an accident or self defense it is different from maliciously committing murder, or intending to kill another person. St. Francis of Assisi would say that sin is objective: the act of sin without knowingly or deliberately committing the sin. Intention has no part in whether or not an act is considered. Sin is sin regardless of intent. With the legacy of St. Francis ministry, the order called The friars , it seems that St. Francis was more concerned with good works as a means of salvation. However, works would mean nothing if there was not good intent behind them. Dietrich Bonhoeffer believes we are not judged by our works, but are saved by grace. Examples Of Honey Baby Sweetheart Deb Caletti said in, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart I was like a chocolate in a box, looking well behaved and perfect in place, all the while harboring a secret center. Facades are used in everyday life all around you, but you never notice them. A prime example is my best friend. She acts rambunctious and like her friends when she is around them. She basically abandons the way she was raised to fit in and be popular. When she gets around her family she is the angel they raised. Facades are the worst lies because they can be very easily shattered, are destructive, and can wrongfully take an opportunity from another. Like glass, facades can be very easily broken with even the smallest of fractures. An example of a small fracture can be changing the way you speak or the way you dress. Do not use the test for samples containing more than 2000 mg Cl /L. Techniques designed to measure COD in saline waters are available.1,2 Halide interferences may be removed by precipitation with silver ion and filtration before digestion. This approach may introduce substantial errors due to the occlusion and carrydown of COD matter from heterogenous samples. Ammonia and its derivatives, in the waste or generated from nitrogen containing organic matter, are not oxidized. However, elemental chlorine reacts with these compounds. Hence, corrections for chloride interferences are difficult. Nitrite (NO2 ) exerts a COD of 1.1 mg O2/mg NO2 N. Because concentrations of NO2 in waters rarely exceed 1 or 2 mg NO2 N/L, the interference is considered insignificant and usually is ignored. To eliminate a significant interference due to NO2 , add 10 mg sulfamic acid for each mg NO2 N present in the sample volume used; add the same amount of sulfamic acid to the reflux vessel containing the distilled water blank. Compare And Contrast Heydrich And Ernest Shackleton (STATE THESIS) When it comes to the leading their respective teams, Ernest Shackleton and Reinhard Heydrich s approaches to leadership could not be more contradictory. This is not to say that their differences make either of them a good or misleader. Each individual demonstrated qualities that would classify him in either category. However, it is ultimately the intentions of the leader and the presence of or complete disregard for humanity that categorizes each man where he falls. Holistically, in order to determine what makes an individual an effective leader or a misleader, one must first understand the aspects of leadership. While it is impossible to condense what makes a leader into a short list of qualities and ideas, for the intent of this paper, the comparative aspects of leadership will be limited to: character, skills/talent, and results. To begin, character can be understood as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. Warren Buffet was quoted saying, there are three main qualities involved in leadership: integrity, intelligence, and energy; without the first, the other two will kill you, (Warren Buffet). In reference to Ernest Shackleton, the mariner was known by his crew to be optimistic, generous, and fair. • 49. Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately 35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United Stateswere actually manufactured in China, compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer, the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade, people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services, globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of world trade. Some countries do not have the ability to create certain goods domestically, such as mangoes, avocados, bananas, papayas, etc. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a difficult moment, but I did what seemed right, which was to say, Of course not, ... Mr. O Brien did what he believed was the right thing. He told a lie to his daughter to spare her the troubles of war and knowing that her father is a killer. That is not the only reason he spared his daughter from the truththough. He also lied to save himself from the memory of the incident, which are nightmarish memories to him. Sometimes a parent must lie to save their children from the horrible truth.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the strong points of that argument is that everyone deserves to know the truth, even children. I say that the truth is important yes, but it can also cause more harm than good. For example, if your grandmother bakes a chocolate pie and tells you to eat it, but it is the worst pie you have ever eaten in your life, it would be simpler to tell her that is was good rather than tell her the truth and hurt her feelings. No good can come from hurting someone s feelings. The truth will often cause that. Another point that some people use for this argument is that if his daughter found out the truth, she would view her father as a liar. If that was the case, every child of this planet would view their parents that way. Children grow up learning about the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, and several other magical beings that do not exist.
